Blink Fitness in other cities:
I just joined. My regular gym is equinox flatiron district. Since my gym doesnt have its full amenities I now go to Blink. No paper towels to wipe your brow or sweat. All the have is wet wipes and not always replenished. I did get a good workout and had my distance required.
Staff in this Blink Fitness location was helpful particularly assistant club manager Juan Ayala as he was attentive to my concerns in regards to the gyms billing policy. He was prompt with emails, knowledgeable, professional and kind. Customer service was efficient! Thank you for the professionalism and good communication skills.
Apparently they attempted to charge my credit card yesterday after the COVID closure but it was declined. I got an email yesterday at 6:37 a.m. saying that I needed to update my credit card but like most people, I dont check my email at 6:37 in the morning. I was at the gym at 7:00 and they would not let me workout until I brought the credit card. I dont bring my wallet with me to the gym in the morning so I kindly asked if I can pay the following day or online. The manager (I will not call her out by name) said I would have to leave and cant workout till I bring my credit card. This was extremely disappointing. As a member for over a year I would expect a bit of courtesy and for them to allow me to pay the next day but instead I wasted my morning on walking to the gym only to turn at and head back home. I had the exact same situation occur at Crunch fitness and it was not a problem at all! I expect better from the management at this gym.
Super friendly staff and good machines for most workout needs. Very clean and well kept locker rooms, bathrooms, and machines. Great environment to workout if you like to be in a space with nice people, good amenities, and all of your basics. The courtesy of the staff alone makes it worth going to the gym, and their positive attitude seems to encourage patrons to put their best foot forward.
First things first, the staff is really friendly here. They also keep the gym spotless. They are always cleaning equipment and mopping the floors. And you notice the clean. The gym gets really crowded only a couple of hours in the evening but even then you can find lots of free equipment to work with. And they have a large variety of equipment for all levels of fitness. I highly recommend it if you’re in the neighborhood.
For the past 2 years Ive been going to that gym, never had issues. Theres a guy me name Jonathan (tall, black with a beard, he is new to that place) apparently, he doesnt know how to approach customers. That money Ive been paying for 2 years, I can bring it to other gyms ( I hope he knows that).
I clearly specified that all I needed was a once month pass. I was assured that I can cancel any time and it would cost $8-$22 for some sort of transaction fee. I went to cancel like 3 weeks later only to be slapped with a $30 cancellation fee. The reason? Apparently the guy who set up my membership forgot to mention that there is a 45 day cancellation notice. After saying many times that all I needed was one month, the guy should have notified me so that I’d know to cancel right away and avoid the higher than quoted cancellation fee.
There are a good amount of equipment, you can always get a varied and effective workout ( if you put the effort in). Receptionist staff are great and friendly.I gave it three stars cos of a few things. The most being it’s really smelly and it doesn’t have to be. It’s a Gym. Your supposed to sweat. It just doesn’t smell like the floor has been mopped with any decent chemicals ever and upstairs is so musty and the air is so thick with other peoples sweat vapors it’s kinda off putting. Especially for newbies. Maybe a couple fans to circulate air upstairs or some air purifiers might help. Anything to bring fresh air in would really make the gym a more enjoyable environment. My wife has Asthma and she can’t go upstairs the air is so humid she can’t breathe. Which kinda sucks.
I love this gym alot. It is the most clean between the gyms I have been to in the flatbush area. The employees are very welcoming, always greeting you when you arrived and have a nice day when you leave. The machines work amazingly and rarely do I wait on a machine. I love the environment and enjoy going there whenever I get time off. Lovely gym overall
Was looking for new gym I went on a Sunday it was packed and the front desk boasted to potential members that the bathrooms were the cleanest. Should your bathrooms be clean anyways? Theres a Maintenance fee which is normal but there is also a cancellation fee which I wasnt cool with. Staff was definitely a lil rough around the edges. Ill pass for now
The gym is actually not that bad. I gave it 2 stars because of the customer service. The employees are kind of lazy, rude & nonchalant. Not so welcoming. Also I do feel the gym is overpriced. I only go here instead of Planet Fitness because it’s closer to home but Planet Fitness gives you the same gym for less money. Plus they give you more perks for your money and better service.
Great place to work out. Usually packed. Been coming here for 5byears. Unfortunately, my locker was broken into and $140 in cash was stolen from my wallet. Filed a report but there was nothing the staff can do. I am not only disappointed but really hesitant to go back to this gym. 2 years ago my pho e was stolen and then returned. I wish the staff was able to do more but I understand there is not much they can do. Make sure you lock all your belongings because your stuff will get stolen if left alone or open. My locker was locked but they must of saw me enter my code. Really upset and out $140
Two floors.1st floor is mostly weights and upper body machinesSecond floor has treadmills and more leg based exercise machinesStaff is super friendly and place is super clean. It’s like someone’s always cleaning in here. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is because it’s small but not claustrophobic
Ok this used to be such a nice quiet gym. Now that 2 gym nearby closed their locations, it is getting too crowded. The staff still keeps it nice and clean but it is so hard to get a machine to use nowdays especially in the evening to late hours. And its getting annoying
Really love exercising here!!! Served in the Marine Corp Recon from 2006 to 2010 Navy Spec. Ops. 2010 to 2014. I have been blessed with the opportunity to work out with top commandos at top rated military gyms in America....however I am honored when I walk into this gym. Great, great staff, always professional and they are extremely inviting via positivity.I was working out this morning and I got yelled at politely by one of the staff for slamming the weights too hard on the deck (fired up, motivated)...she was exercising as well...dont know her name but, shes highly valuable to the success of this corporation. Thanks for blessing out community with this facility.
Very clean, other members are respectful, staff is friendly. You need your own lock for the day lockers (you cant leave anything overnight), which you can buy there, but the desk staff recommended I buy one from the deli on the corner. Cardio and weight machines and open area first floor, and cardio and free weights upstairs. I just wish they had a boxing bag.
Super super super clean! An amazing staff, courteous and friendly. It never gets too crowded and a good variety of equipment. Nice mixed crowd of different ages, nationalities and fitness levels. Definitely not a muscle head, weights dropping, gym. Did I mention it was super clean?
I have been to Gyms where they have racquetball courts, steam rooms, swimming pools, curling bars, food court and on and on. Kinda miss that. This place gives you the basics - a space to jump if your neighbors downstairs would complain at you skipping and attendants who leave you alone. No one here is going to complain about you dropping your weights. It feels judgement free and because they lack so much of the amenities it seems they go overboard in cleanliness. It is somewhat laughable the emphasis on keeping clean, staff is constantly wiping with Lysol or some other cleaning solution that the habit has spread to its patrons who make it a point to clean surfaces after use. Such BS. But I am not complaining - folks carry tons of God forsaken microbes on their person that I want no part of 😉. For a covered facility to work out in, I guess you get what you pay for. Sure do miss those curling bars. How much are they?
Its an okay gym. This location is a bit small and can get really crowded depending on the times that you go to this location. I highly recommend going to the Blink by 42nd Street (of course if its too out of your way - dont) primarily because its so spacious and traffic in there moves pretty quick.Staff is friendly and helpful. The gym is also in a great location - located across the street from Target and near other great retail stores.
Blink Fitness requires customers to unnecessarily expose themselves to COVID by only allowing in-person cancellation or cancellation via certified mail aka enjoy your three hour wait at the Post Office. The absolute shadiest and most shameful of business practices, we would all be lucky if every single Blink location burned to the ground.
I was overcharged and told the system does that sometimes when I went in person to cancel my membership. I had to wait 20 minutes. Then, the lady behind the desk told me on top of being overcharged which she saw on my account I would have to pay the pro rated amount to cancel and be refunded the difference. When I pointed out how dumb that was she spoke to her manager and said I would not have to pay the amount. I got confirmation of my cancelled membership via a copy of the paper and left. A month later I was charged and after a week and a half of calling I finally spoke to someone and they told me my account is still open and active. Incompetence at its finest.
Most of the time this location (from what I’ve experienced throughout this summer) has a HUGE HVAC issue, the second floor becomes a furnace during the afternoon hours. In a two-floor facility, there is only ONE water fountain! So if you are upstairs in the middle of a set you have to go down to the main floor for water. The general manager is a sweetheart but you can tell when she’s not there, the staff has no care in the world. Other than that it’s a convenient location with a vitamin shoppe around the corner.PLEASE WORK ON PUTTING A FOUNTAIN UPSTAIRS!
So far clean, easy, nice staff, equipment is just fine considering the low monthly cost, really like coming here, diverse crowd, like the neighborhood. I had a friend who used to go here and when she cancelled she kept being charged, a similar story to the 1 star review I saw. Right now Im loving it. I will come back when I leave in a year or so and update review if I have to deal with any shady business. Suggest if you do sign up, make sure its with a credit card that will cancel/stop payments if needed. Wouldnt sign up with a debit card, I think thats where things get sticky. Still bs that anyone has to deal with non-transparent policies and outright lying though. They need to fix that behavior stat.
I wasnt sure if I should go to Blink Fitness at Nostrand based on the old reviews. So, to really come to a decision I went there with FREE one day trial and all the negative comments about this gym was absolutely wrong. The gym is very nice, clean, decent equipments, 2 stories up, and most importantly great staff. Ohhh did I mention that its CLEAN ?!!!Good Job Nostrand Blink Fitness 👍💪
The are. A bunch of thief ,initially they said the monthly premium would be $10 they did that for a couple of months, after that they increase it to $15.68 not only that they charge you a yearly fee of $42 then also they have a cancellation fee.I went and I tried to cancel my subscription after realizing that they are only a bunch of thief ...anyway I had to pay $31 for the following month even though I was not going to use they services plus the $15 for the cancellation fee.Stay away from that place.
This location was great before the the lockdown...no complaints regarding the cleanliness of the gym and the staff...however since my return with opening of the gym after lockdown is that I am noticing of some members are not wearing their mask over their nose as they workout...every time I have been to the I am noticing it...I think maybe staff needs to make members aware that they should be wearing the mask properly out of the respect to everyone in the gym...what are the consequences of those not abiding by the new rules and guidelines...this epidemic is not over and still spreading...Sincerely concerned gym member.
Deadlifting with my shoes off a few weeks ago manager approach me and said I could not while I had the weight off the ground very unprofessional but ok I did not argue or complain. I comply and put my shoes back on. When I asked why I had to put my shoes on she said it was the gym policy that you always have to have your shoes on. Keep in mind I have been a member for over 2 years and have seen guys dead lift with her in the gym with their shoes off. Today 7/21/2019 while I was working out I see her working out with her shoes off and just socks. All I am going to say she if full of you know what and i feel as though i am being singled out by her.
Worst gym experience ever. I have been member for month as a corporate member. I have been to 3 different locations since I signed up and I did not require to take picture when I signed up for my security. However I carry my picture ID if needed. Today this location gym assistant manager named “kady” approach me with unprofessional and rude way and refused to let me enter. What a hypocrite when she herself doesn’t have Photo on her Blink work ID!!? This is a flat out discrimination and unfair treatment. I hope Blink look into this and fire this unprofessional asst. manager name kady. Kady literally kick me out. Don’t give their Blink member hard time when we don’t decide to take picture in Blink ID.
I came to this location while in the area. I have a Blink pass that allows me to use any gym and bring unlimited guests. I came here with my friend who is also a member of Blink but his account is not up to date. Therefore, for today, he was going to use my guest privileges. The manager, Casey Selby was at the front desk and refused to let us in. Her reason-“A memebsr cannot use guest privileges.” I asked her where in my contract does is state that. She said give her a minute and she went to the back. After about 15 minuets, she came back with my contract with a line high listed on page 3. The part highlighted which was rule #5 states, “RULES, REGULATIONS, AND SCHEDULES: Member agrees to abide by all the membership rules, regulations and schedules of the Club, which may be posted at the Club or used orally, and which may be amended from time to time at Blink’s sole discretion.” No where does this say or justify her claim that a member of Blink cannot be my guest. I have been a guest as a member and I have had members as my guest before. Casey Selby became loud and rude when I asked for corporates number. She offered me a number to billing. I have no billing issues and when I told her that she then offered an email to her boss. I asked her why would she offer me a number to billing. She then lied and she said she didn’t. She literally did 5 seconds before. I am now in the process of cancelling my membership with Blink. My friend is canceling hers too.

2022-04-26Its an average gym and theyre no longer cleaning equipment as frequently as they did when they opened after the pandemic. Nothing special. Price is good for the equipment they offer and number of locations.

2022-02-21Lots of machines/equipment, there is always gym personnel around to help with any questions. Convenient location and very clean. Good when I want a workout on my own.

2022-04-01Don’t join this gym.Blink will neglect you, steal your money, and deny responsibility.Called to cancel membership during pandemic, March 2020. No one answers phones for months. I left many messages. I move states and never hear back from them. Two years later I get a call from a lawyer stating my unplayed balance from a resurrected policy went to to collections.Called to ask about my bill and I get the run around from collections to local franchise to billing and back to collections. When I ask why I’m responsible for Blink Fitness’ negligence I get a corporate script with no understanding and a ruined credit score.* response to owner, if you really do apologize then cancel mark against my credit and own up to your negligence during the pandemic

2022-05-21Its an OK gym. Its made worse by how busy it gets and some regulars who will hog equipment for close to an hour. I try to get there early to beat these people to some limited equipment, like the squat cages (theres only 2, and if one of these people get on one of them, thats like theres only 1). When Im on that, its to do 5 sets of an exercise and move on so someone else can use it. When these regulars are on there, they will spend your whole workout session doing various exercises, some that dont even utilize the equipment theyre holding up. Its like they think its personal equipment, or maybe theres a membership tier that allows members to do this without repercussion.Inconsiderate people make everything much worse.

2022-03-28I recently went back to this location since the mandates were lifts within the city for gyms, and waow what a big difference there has been…the cleaniness of the gym is disgusting. Thera only one cleaner…the Spanish lady and she is not there on the wknd…garbage is piling up…this location is unsanitary. All before I was going to Valley Stream, which in comparison is really clean and there are workers cleaning and sanitizing the gym…nostrand location also has on odor…smdh…I to have look for another location. To prove my point I tried them one more time only because I was concern about parking at Flatlands…guess what guys they didn’t have any wipes to wipe the machines down as we normally do…why are we paying membership fees and those things are to be covered in…Not clean under our new way of life with COVID…!!! How is corporate handling this gym?
