Blink Fitness in other cities:
My only gripe: Management/staff haven’t been super great at monitoring mask wearing especially now it’s been reinstated again due to the Omicron variant. There’s also some toxic masculinity/ men hogging equipment at times but otherwise the gym has been my solace and has all the equipment I need. It’s quite clean and the stretching area is great. The staff always greet everyone so nicely at the front and I feel they have our backs here!
Very clean facilities but it’s often an exercise (no pun intended) in frustration because there’s just not nearly enough equipment for the number of people that come here and I often have to short change my workout routines or sit around for twenty minutes at a time even in off peak hours. I suppose that’s just part of being in a prime location and being affordable so not sure if it’s fair to fault the gym for this it’s just an observation and might be switching gyms due to this
UPDATE #2: Thank you for the response, and for fixing a few pieces of equipment. But when I asked when the spin bikes would be getting straps back on, I was told that they would not be put back on. Ever. That it was too easy for them to break. The spin bikes are a big reason why I come here vs competitors. Its ridiculous to not have a crucial part of the equipment added. This is important for good technique and an effective ride.(Also - one of the spin bikes is still missing a monitor)Please provide working spin bikes. We all pay membership fees for working equipment........This location needs some TLC. Several pieces of equipment have been on the blink for weeks, with no sight of being fixed. Weight area has become packed even during low points of the week.Biggest issue is the lack of care and attention to wear and tear on the equipment. Get someone in here to fix this!Pics added: both spin bikes are missing straps, one spin had the monitor ripped off, another broken resistance machine####Love this new location. Clean, tidy, lots of equipment to chose from. I havent ventured over to the weights area but it seems theres a lot of room which is good. Only downside is the VERY slow elevator. But other than that, good gym. For sure glad I picked this over other nearby gyms.
This gym is a waste, way to many people and most of them dont know how to workout and move on. Everyone sits on there phone or has to run there mouth so you will be waiting at least 20-30 for a bench/machine. I dont blame the gym its just the ppl, some have no job or no life🤷🏻♂️
Everyone minds their business, theres a bit machismo. But that comes with these non athlete gyms. Definitely not enough room for all who come. Still searching for that sweet empty hour but even when I find it, I wont tell yall. Lol.Clean. Very clean. Staff is polite. Its a decent environment. 👌🏾 No complaints yet. Will update as needed.
Conveniently located in the recently renovated George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal and located just two blocks from Planet Fitness. I spoke with many Blink Fitness staff before joining and ever since then on a regular basis about cleanliness and they keep assuring me that every half an hour staff is wiping down machines and even the manager cleans the machines. Also Blink assures the privacy of its members, the staff encourages reporting of members that take selfies and make videos in the gym. Now the location itself: its beautiful, clean, and uses the exact same machines used at their parent company Equinox locations. To use the same equipment at less than 1/10th the membership fee that is an incredible bargain. The locker rooms and restrooms are very big and clean. The merch at Blink is actually pretty cool and I want to buy some of it. If I recall correctly the green membership qualifies a member to receive a discount on the Citibike monthly fee. New members also get a complimentary personal trainer session. Out of respect for the privacy of the members I will only post pictures of the exterior.
They charged me 55 annual maintenance in November 2020 but my contract ends February 2021. I left my number for Sonia the new manager to contact me. I havent heard from her yet. I also worked for blink before and this is not how its suppose to be Im highly disappointed. I suggest all new client receive a printed out copy of your membership even if you need to print it out yourself. Annual fees are suppose to be charged 3 months after your start not before your contract ends.
If I could post negative stars I would. It is not actually Washington Heights location just Blink Fitness Corporate. I cant seem to get anyone to respond to me. I cancelled my membership online in December and continued to get charged, so I had to cancel my credit card and get a new one. I then started getting harassing emails and phone calls from their bots-not a human I could respond to about the matter. I ended up speaking to the rudest person in their billing who called me a liar and said I needed to prove I cancelled... I has screen shot of the submission. I ended up contacting the attorney general, I owe 90 dollars that is now in collections.... I cant get to the location to cancel because we moved out of the city (COVID) and now I cant rent a new apartment with this fee on my credit score. Yes I can pay the 90 dollars (just barely-since Ive lost my job from COVID) but I just want all to be aware. Sorry Washington Heights, perhaps you can help me get this matter resolved.
They charged me for 2 years after I proved I was moving out of the country. Theres a million complaints for this kind of behavior on BBB, and a class action lawsuit against them. Their business model is essentially fraud.DO NOT sign up for a membership here, unless you want to pay it forever. They dont honor their own policies- Im having to claim more than 300 dollars in membership fees back via the fraud department on my credit card because they refuse to stop charging me.So, skip the hassle, and join any other gym. Dont give them your credit card info- you might as well be posting it on reddit.
If I could give this place negative Stars I would! The level of incompetence that is exercised running this location never ceases to amaze me. Today is Monday Columbus Day 2021. There is a line of people going around the block at 5 a.m. waiting to get in at 5:30. Your website states that this location is open now at 5:30am. It is not scheduled to open until 7 a.m.! This is incredibly frustrating not to mention a total disregard to the paying members who expected to work out in the morning. No notice or sign was ever put up stating that the opening time for Monday would be 7am. And as usual expect management and the owners of this location to do absolutely nothing for its members because of this.
Too crowded. I asked staff numerous times when facility would be at its emptiest and I would come during time frame but gym would be still packed. Management is a joke, when I tried to cancel she forwarded the same email corporate had sent to me that I had previously sent to her. If you want space, available equipment and not feel like you’re in a tight space I DO NOT recommend this gym. Watch out for their 45 day notice. They make it difficult for you to cancel. If you do not want to pay a fee you will have to cancel within 3 days!
For anyone interested in using free weights Id highly discourage you from using this location. I was very excited to finally get back to a squat rack and deadlift platform, but all were occupied in non-peak hours with wait lines. Three racks for this many people is just insane. Freestanding benches in the dumbbell area are also hard to come by. I like to get in to the gym, do my workout, and get out, not have to fight tooth and nail for equipment. Maybe a little too crowded for covid purposes too - Id definitely have felt uncomfortable if I werent vaccinated.
I am sick and tired for the disrespect from the janitor guy. Ive tried to talk a manager about this but for some reason there is no manager around at the 10am hour! This issue with this janitor continues from before quarantine. Also, I see a lot of familiarity with members/guests. There is a HUGE difference between being socialable and familiar and hes way too unprofessional regardless of how well he knows members/guests.Speaking as a former MOD and manager of other clubs and Equinox, it is high time corporate start shopping clubs. The level of unprofessionalism is rampant! Maintenance staff on their phones, including having personal conversations via blue-tooth earphones. However, I have to say that the new front desk crew at Washington Heights are on point! Stellar customer service and cordial.I left my number for a call. Lets see how long it takes to hear back. Ill be in the club again.
I get were in a pandemic, but the point of a reservation is to secure your spot. I shouldn’t be standing outside for an hour in the rain to get inside, passed my reservation time. Defeats the purpose of “ social distancing “. And let people use the stairs if you only have two elevators and want people to leave 1 by 1 because now you just have a crowded lobby. These gyms policies are counter-productive
The gym itself is great. The facility is new and the stations are clean and organized. The only negative detail about this gym is that some of the local clients are unorganized and just lazy. They dont often place the weights back in their designated areas. I wouldnt blame the gym staff for this, some people just dont have manners. Rush hour gets REALLY busy so early morning and late evenings are the best times to get a great workout without much of a wait time.
I canceled my membership on Sept and have been getting bill every month ever since and just got charge the annual fee from blink, I email blink support and they told me to show proof of cancellation which I did immediately and they never got back to me even though I email them countless times. It feels like a scam to get you to keep paying after you canceled beware.Update: got a refund for the amount that was deducted, even though it took a while the problem has been solved.
I gave only 2 stars because although the gym has all the equipment you would need, its rare that you get to use any of it. 1) Gym equipment is supposed to be first come, first serve but members use their water bottles and book bags to reserve equipment that they are not using while they are on the other side of the gym. Your choices are to start using the equipment and then have to argue when the person comes back to say they were working there, or avoid every machine where you see a lonely water bottle, bag or towel. Last time I checked, that water bottle doesnt pay for a gym membership every month, and I do. Management seems to do nothing about this. I even spoke to someone at the front desk, and he admits that hes guilty of reserving machines the same way when he works out. 2) For those of us who actually wait in line for equipment, you sometimes have to wait up to 25 minutes for a specific piece of equipment. Even though there are 3 squat racks, they are almost NEVER available. The problem is, the more racks you add, the more people expect to have their own rack to themselves, the more people start doing exercises that arent squats, and the less people will expect to share a machine when the gym is crowded. Also, a lot of women are doing squats nowadays, and they dont feel comfortable sharing machines with men. This added wait time between machines can easily turn a 45 minute workout into an hour and a half workout, which can mean the difference in how productive you are OUTSIDE the gym. Most of us only have a few hours a day of productive time. The bottom line is that this gym, like many others, is willing to take new members money even after the gym is at maximum capacity. Then after they let the gym get overcrowded, there is no one doing any crowd control or setting any rules. Mind you, Im not even talking about the after work 5pm to closing mob, this is MORNING TIME to AFTERNOON Im talking about.
The Gym is blessing for our neighborhood. the environment is nice to be around, people are well trained and very professional. Bathrooms are sparkling all machines nice and clean. Rose the Manager is very professional and ready to listen out your concerns. DEFINITELY A GREAT PLACE!
I use to go to this gym a lot and never felt this good in my entire life. But because of this COVID situation that started last March, I havent gone there that often. They said I got to make reservations if I got to go inside for a workout. It never happened to me before, but I would rather go to any Blink Fitness in the Bronx, Here in Manhattan its a bit complicated.
I love love coming to an establishment where the atmosphere is positive and the gym is substantial clean. I went to queens village location and I was highly disappointed! Alodi at Washington Heights is super amazing, friendly, and attentive. Need more people like her in this world. 👌
I moved away during a *global pandemic* and this gym is insisting I drive an hour to go in person to cancel my membership. Extremely unprofessional. Their manager, Stephanie Martinez, doesnt respond to e-mails. Gym was fine when attending, but their response to covid-19 is embarrassing and unprofessional.
Good staff but poor technology. The mobile app for reservations fails on many days. There is no other way of reserving a slot. The website sucks and the member login doesn’t have the reservation feature. It has resulted in bad customer experience situations for me and many other members I’ve spoken to.(The staff working at the facility are always nice though.)
This gym is pretty amazing considering the price. Totally worth coming here! The staff is very kind. I want to give a special shout-out to Pricila, she offers incredible positivity and warm greetings even when shes freezing because of the AC! Overall this blink is kept clean and tidy! I give this gym a toot!
Looking back at my 2 years going to this gym, I DONT recommend it to anyone. The gym goers are downright DBs who will INTIMIDATE and SAY THREATS OUT LOUD to you at their whim. I am a male lifelong gym goer, I cant even imagine how a less experienced woman would feel trying to find her way around this place. The staff at the front desk wont do anything even if staring a coward fight nearly break out right in front of them. I am saying these things because they happened to me in here. This is not acceptable and this gym needs change.
Pros :Better than planet fitness by a long shot.Free weight squat racks.Free weight bench pressesHeavier dumbbellsClean bathrooms and lockers.Staff very friendlyThe manager is very good at handling members in any scenario, listening and dealing with complaints.Cons:Is not 24/7.Has only 1 floor for the moment.Does not have a shoulder press machineDoes not have a LEVERAGED high row machineDoes not have a sprinting treadmill and regular treadmills only go up to 15 mph.
Assistant manager Sonia (on Friday, 2/12 at 5pm) scolded me and my wife for riding the elevator together and claimed those were CDC guidelines. Ummm...those arent (I work in healthcare). And dont target people you think you can talk down to. When I told her I knew the rules better than she did and I work in health care, she asked for my name and told me shed write me up for talking back to her. Five minutes later, my wife and I terminated our memberships. I can tolerate a lot of stuff, but ignorance and power tripping isnt one of them. Dont bother getting a membership when mgmt doesnt have the decency to speak to you with respect.
This location is not the best,it is poorly managed ,yesterday once again gym didn’t OPEN on time,(waited 30 mins still hadn’t open,)this has happen countless times. They also need to enforce the mask mandate better,ITS for EVERYONE,those that won’t comply should be asked to leave period..Speaking to management about gym issues is waste of time.
My husband and I cancelled our membership in June in the gym and incompetent employees did not do the cancellation correctly. My husband’s account got cancelled but mine did not. Found out a couple months later I was still being charged every month. I had moved out of the city, so I then proceeded to call their customer service to try to cancel. Apparently in 2019 you need to send certified letters to cancel your membership, and on top of that, customer service has no communication with corporate that will cancel the membership. after 15 or so calls and 2 letters sent to the ‘corporate office’ my membership has still not been cancelled. I am now getting collection due notices on new charges that are being added to my account. customer service says we’ll just have to wait till corporate processes the letter, meanwhile which I may be added another monthly charge and I will have topay it. BEWARE.
It’s often crowded and the clientele are rude about restocking weights. Not enough bench presses. The elevator just to get into the gym is ridiculously slow and you can’t use the stairs. The staff are not professional at all. Just trying to cancel my membership was a nightmare - other reviewers have had similar complaints.
Have you ever gone to the gym and had to leave fifteen minutes in because you can’t get a workout due to the million people in there taking up all the machines and talking? This is my experience at this gym EVERY single time. It’s a good problem for them but sucks for those of us that actually need to workout. It’s too small for the number of clients they have.
Love that I finally have a blink very close to me! I absolutely hate the elevators though. They are really slow and they make me feel claustrophobic; something should be done about that. Also, I would give it 5 stars if it was open later especially on the weekends because so many of us work and arent able to workout on the weekends (best days to go to the gym). It would be nice if the time could extend at least till 10 on Saturdays and Sundays.
I’ve had a terrible experience with Blink Fitness. When the lockdown began they froze my account. When the lockdown lifted they started charging me again without any kind of notification. They are taking advantage of people in the middle of a pandemic they’re awful they are heartless.
Requires making an appointment. They have deceptive advertisement about bringing a guest. When you bring a friend, they tell you that no guests allowed. Even with an appointment you have to wait outside. The waiting line is very long and goes around the corner. About 30 people waiting to get in as of right now. Been standing here for about 30 min now.Update: waiting for 40 min now!Update: 45 min waiting and i am in. Yaay, i have 20 min left to finish my workout!🤬
When I enrolled I went to this gym twice then I decided I didnt want to attend this gym or any of their gyms. I cancelled my membership back in March since i wasnt going to be around the state for a while. In June i noticed I was still getting charged but since i wasnt around i couldnt go speak to them till july. When i went in to talk to them they said my memebership was still active and they where going to send some paper to corporate to refund me my money. I was told to wait 3-5 bussiness days to get my money back, a months goes by now i get an email saying that my payment is late and when i go check again my membership is till active, after i spent almost $100 to cancel and spoke to the supervisor at this location twice.
I just started going to blink and I really enjoy it. I like the free weights and I like the music they play. The only thing I Dont like is the small area for the free weights. Its ALWAYS crowded and tightly spaced. There are more Cardio machines than there are free weight machines.
Apparently you can only cancel your membership to this place in person, or by sending a certified letter to the corporate headquarters. Too bad I dont live in the country currently. Of course, it has absolutely no need to be like that, its just greedy business policy trying to make it hard to get out of a membership.
Nice variety of good equipment. Re-stacking of weights is a problem. Some people do not re-stack. It is not enforced. Weights end up all over the place except where they are supposed to be. The staff should have a check list to follow for routine inspections and re-stacking at least every 2 - 3 hours. People also need to be told by staff to re-stack.
Insanely busy. As in, beyond any kind of reason. Most people will work in, or let you work in with them, but a 25 min wait every single day for a rack or a bench is just too much. Also, the slowest elevators known to mankind. And they keep the stairs locked for some unknown reason so leaving at closing time is a total nightmare.Do have wifi, though.
EDIT: THEY LIE AND SAY TO SEND A LETTER TO CANCEL BUT THEY JUST TRIED CHARGING ME $60 ON CARD TO CANCEL IT. HIDDEN CANCELLATION FEES. HUGE SCAM!natalie and stephanie are unhelpful and probably the worst managers. impossible to get them to cancel my account here and i had to get a new credit card just to stop the fraud payments. dont do it.
What ever you do, Do not start a membership with these F.....ng people. I moved to texas and there’s no way to cancel their service unless you do it by person. They charged me for a whole year and messed up my credit score. Their cuatomer service is horrible and won’t even care that I moved and couldn’t personally cancel.
This Blink is solid and provides everything that you need. The downside is that it gets packed during peak hours which leaves you waiting for certain machines. Also, the weights are a mess. Sometimes youll struggle to find the weight you need to lift and itll be on the other side of the gym hidden behind a group of leprachauns and unicorns - meaning youll have to settle for another weight instead. Other than that, the environment is friendly and if you consistently go youll continue to bump into similar faces.
They’re very unprofessional due the global pandemic all offices are working remotely but they can’t do a simple remotely cancellation. You have to go personally and make the whole line as if you’re going to train. I’ve sent emails but the manager doesn’t respond to them.
This gym opens too late and its not 24 hours like other gyms in the area, I have to leave for work at 5:00am everyday but there not open till 6am, Would be nice if it opened at least at 4am for people who work early mornings, anyway I had to cancel my membership because of that and signed up for planet fitness a few blocks away which is open 24 hours the way a gym in NYC should be, its a bit more crowded but its open so I can work out every morning before work, 1 star for this reason.

2022-04-05So it gets one star for its location and the fact there’s parking and another star because it’s affordable. However, I hate this gym and I’ve only been there two times. I have to cut my workout short because people HOGG UP THE MACHINES. Way too many people for the amount of sq ft in this place. This gym is exceedingly tiny. Equipment are good just need a lot more space. Also I find myself thinking of ok where can I go to lift weights- guess what they are all taken and all little mirror spaces are succumbed by dead lifters and hoggers. The bathrooms are small as well. The locker rooms (Atleast the girls) are small. The benches to sit in the locker rooms are always pushed against the lockers becauseITS SO SMALL. There’s only like three bathroom stalls and I guess that’s fine.I am not new to working out and perhaps I was spoiled when I started my gym journey prior to my child. Pool, sauna, hot tub, dance classes, etc. buttttt this gym needs more sq ft and better people (the gym rats) and stronger policies - ’ll do this gym when I need to drive and need parking other than that I’ll be going to a different location. And eventually joining la fitness again.

2022-06-20Besides it being packed all the time, this a great gym to go to. Very clean, machines are rarely broken, pretty helpful staff. Good energy and good people

2022-07-19Update summer 2022 elevators are constantly broken, takes 10 min to get in and out of this venue. They don’t open the stairways god only knows why. Water fountains dispense warm water. - The elevator are so incredibly slow. It is a frustrating experience to get to the gym. Instead of starting your work out with a positive energy you start the workout with frustration. Also the stretching area is very dirty, dust and crumbs in every corner

2022-04-20Been going here for 2+ years and genuinely enjoy this location as my main gym despite the smaller size, avoid going during peak hours if you find crowds overwhelming and availability of machines necessary. Otherwise the staff and location is great!

2022-06-05It seems 85% of the kettlebells have disappeared this weekend, what is the reason behind this? So many ppl use them at once and now there isn’t any available. Please bring some more back on the floor. It’s like getting rid of HALF the dumbbells?!Also please note you’re missing a set of 16KG. ☹️

2022-07-23Cool gym, I’m only attending for the month and didn’t want to pause my workouts. It’s got a lot of equipment (more than my regular gym back home), people are friendly and staff is helpful.

2022-06-05BWH is fine but Blink corporate is awful. Theyll charge you forever while sending no emails to let you know (they didnt even send an email to let anyone know their membership had been unfrozen after the pandemic!), and then they wont refund you nor let you cancel without time wasting procedures. When you finally get to the cancellation stage theyll charge you a $$ cancellation fee!

2022-06-07This is the worst Blink I have ever been to...I have been to several different Blinks over the years..Nassau st in Lower Manhattan, Grand Central, W 116th in Harlem and Astoria. Washington Heights is the worst..broken machines that get fixed rarely ..old worn out seating..many times NO wiipes...too crowded for such a small space. Mis managed.

2022-07-13Very clean locker rooms. Excellent equipment. Only downside of this location is how busy it gets. Mornings and evenings are terribly busy and is often crowded

2022-08-01It’s always clean and the workers are pretty friendly, a little too crowded in the am around 10am and afternoons but hey this is NYC. Other than that it’s a good atmosphere 👍
