Amazing dinner! My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there and the staff was terrific. We were impressed by the personalize Anniversary card they brought as we were seated. The food was amazing. Fresh shellfish tower, whole grilled fish with great wine service and dessert. All along the beautiful setting of the Hudson River. Go! You will not be disappointed.
High-quality seafood in a breathtaking setting. All of the dishes were prepared with care using fresh ingredients and you feel like youre sitting on the water with views of the river and mountains. Very unique with immaculate decor. Reminded me of a pricey Manhattan seafood restaurant vibe. Friendly and attentive waitstaff. Its not cheap but you get what you pay for.
I was here on a Monday and it was a wonderful experience. The cocktails were very well made, and the food was wonderful. I highly recommend the Crab Cake Appetizer.Service service great. The view of the Hudson is wonderful. We went at night which made for a more quiet and intimate experience than how busy they are during the day, but that also has the flip side of less of a view.I would recommend. And while expensive, it isnt insane. Two people with two apps, some oysters, a main each, dessert and three cocktails each was around the $250 which for an establishment of this caliber and level is very reasonable.
Went here for Valentines day 2019 and then my birthday 2022 - loved it both times. Their food is delicious and their staff is excellent also. I forget the lady who served us on my birthday dinner, but she was amazing and super sweet to my kiddos. I got the surf and turf for my birthday and my steak was perfect. The lobster was ok for me, it was a little over cooked. Their drink menu was also extensive, but I love the cocktail, it had elderberry, I got for my birthday. We are still hoping to get reservations for brunch here since their menu looks yummy. Cant wait to come back!
This is one of our favorite places in the Newburgh area. It is a bit pricey so we use this as our special occasion place a few times per year, but there isnt a finer seafood restaurant in the area. The wine list is unbelievable, and its no wonder theyve won awards for their selection & service in the past. The view is breathtaking along the water. The service, as you would expect from a fine dining establishment is impeccable. Oysters on the half shell or Rockefeller are a must. Plenty of choices for all appetites. We always start with their amazing locally sourced cheese tray and take our time. Great atmosphere & experiences every time we drop by. I highly recommend making a reservation.
Blu Pointe has thankfully survived the COVID shutdown and it seems o be thriving. We ate on a Sunday evening, sitting right by the Hudson River, and the place was jumping with a wedding party, Baptism celebration, and many, many birthday celebrations. The staff is very attentive, and even with the crowds I never felt forgotten. Food review- thats what youre here for- flash-fried calamari (perfect and tender) chick pea panisse (2 pieces of felafel taken up a notch) lobster roll (stuffed with enough lobster to satisfy a lobster lover) Hiddenfjord salmon (positively melts in your mouth) frutti di mare (plenty of seafood including jumbo shrimp so fresh they jump but pasta was undercooked) and LOBSTER MAC N CHEESE (yes yelling in all caps) rich, creamy, cheesy, lobster-y. Had to share because it was so rich.Sorry, but I took a star off because even though the COVID cleaning protocols were exemplary to my eye, (the bathrooms were cleaned right in front of my toilet visit) but when calling to check on social distancing in the dining room- I was given the scary, We dont ask for Vaxx status, its a personal choice. No, guys, its the health of all those very old and very young patrons who trust you.
The service is impeccable. They are very attentive and care that you are happy. The food is phenomenal and cooked to perfection. Dont expect a cheeseburger and fries here or cheap fast food. Expect to pay for what you get. I recommend sitting in the room by the river. The view with the moon was so romantic and I got a special treat for dessert wink wink. Loved it and so did my GF. Thank you so much. A little pricey for an every week night out but I will return for special nights out
The restaurant is beautiful with a phenomenal view. The staff is very professional to compliment this upscale restaurant. We went there to celebrate my daughters new job and it also was Memorial Day. We ordered drinks, wine and had their large raw oysters, clams, marinated mussels, and 4 cooked jumbo shrimp appetizer with additional oysters. Everything was perfect except the shrimp were overcooked. That surprised me since this is a fine dining fish restaurant. My daughter ordered the lobster roll, I ordered the salmon entree (medium rare) and the scallops entree was ordered by our third party at our table. The lobster roll ($38) with fries was lacking in lobster. She wouldnt have complained except someone next to us also ordered it and the roll was filled nicely. The waiter took it away and the manager appeared questioning our judgment explaining all rolls are given a set amount of lobster. We just told her ours was much less than the one delivered next to us. Also my daughter ordered one at a previous visit that had much more. The picture of the lobster is the second one. I wish I had taken the other before the waiter took it away. The roll came back filled and we joined my daughter eating our cold entrees. My salmon was overcooked.
Atmosphere and seafood appetizer were decent. Seafood towers definitely overpriced for what you get. Only served one small plate of condiments for a $250 appetizer in a group setting. Main course was horrible-cold, burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside. Service was extremely lacking for a supposedly high end restaurant.
This is the best place weve found in Newburgh! The staff is superb:. Genuinely friendly, attentive, professional and courteous, especially Chris, Anthony and Brian. They All deserve a raise! The appetizers were delicious, the view incredible and cuisine was clean, well decorated and upscale. You wont be disappointed!
Great view with delicious seafood. They offer a raw bar as well as fully cooked meals. Upscale atmosphere with a great view of the Hudson. There was a lot on site parking located on both sides of the restaurant as well as across the street. Service was great! Prices range $26.00 to $250.00 depending.
The service is very wonderful! It was my first time to come here, and it was also my 21st birthday. They even gave me a birthday card (and spelled my name correctly!). The Filet Mignon, Salmon, Burger, and the Seafood Pasta is very good. The flourless Chocolate cake is also quite decadent. Has a strong chocolate-y taste. Will definitely come back!
Blue point was fine I had chickpea Panisse and we had tuna poke for appetizers and then for our our dinner I had angry Lobster which was delicious it came over linguine very spicy the way I like it and we also had a skirt steak Australian which was a bit pricey but like I loved it he also went back for another tuna poke the bill was like $211 we only had three drinks like I said a bit pricey but it is good food overall
The food was delicious, but the portions were very small. I ordered the scallops cavatelli which was portioned for a small child. There were problems with the service. I ordered a wedge salad that was never brought out. My dinner came first. The restaurant did bring me the salad to bring home and did not charge for it. We were brought a bread basket after we were finished eating. The water glasses were not regularly filled without finding someone to ask.
We always go for there Sunday brunch never eatin off there menu. So this review will be about the brunch only.Brunch is awesome. So much great good. Options are unreal. Never had anything bad. The atmosphere is awesome. Views of the hudson are great. Servers are all friendly and the bar is a nice place for a few drinks before your party arrives.
Took a friend out for her birthday & was greeted at the front door with a miserable hostess. The food was very good but the staff was very rude, snobby like. Left us there with minimal interaction & took about 20-25 minutes until we called someone to give us our check.Spent close to $600 & will never go back. We even left a tip. No one even acknowledged us on our way out.
Let me tell you.. the absolute best service I have had since covid and probably ever. Isaiah was incredibly kind, thoughtful and man was he on his A game. We never had to ask for a refill on drinks and he was always checking on us. As a matter of fact I have to give credit to the entire staff that helped us that day. The food was amazing. Atmosphere was amazing but the staff really did it for me. I love in Jersey but I would make that trip 100 times over! Thank you Isaiah for making my dads birthday extra special!
Beautiful spot right on the water! I had the Scallops which were very good! We shared the burrata which had more of a mozzarella texture to it not the usual soft, stringy curd and cream. The atmosphere is very warm with an impeccable view! I would definitely eat here again.
The restaurant is beautiful and service excellent but I felt the food overpriced. There is NO way my lobster newburg had the meat of a full lobster…. Claw meat yes, but not one piece of tail meat. A molten chocolate cake is NOT a soufflé- a true disappointment. We would have ordered something else off the dessert menu had we known this was not a true soufflé. The oysters Rockefeller were outstanding!
This is a highly rated seafood restaurant, and brightly so. The ingredients are fresh and put together deliciously! The staff is very warm and friendly. Our server, Jessica, made us feel very special. Her attentiveness to all of our needs, coupled with her excellent instincts for making jus not the right recommendations, enhanced our dining experience to the next level. True, its quite pricey here; Id rate it $$$$. But believe me, its well worth it. We both ordered the lobster mac & cheese, and at first I thought EEWWW. But boy, was I wrong. Instead, it was YUM 😋🤤. We are looking forward to having Sunday brunch here and hopefully Jessica will be our server again for brunch. If youre in the Newberg area, you owe it to yourself to eat here at least once.
As a picky eater I was pleasantly surprised to like every single thing I tried there. Wait staff was great and attentive without hovering either. The ONLY complaint was the table we were at was super wobbly and we almost toppled it twice by accident while getting up and down. But I would come back in a heart beat!
The restaurant was lovely and had a good time. Food was very good. Dinner portions on the small.side for the price. No vegan dinner options. Outdoor seating is now sheltered with glass so you are not truly eating outside. We had 8p reservations and parking lots pretty crowded but the lots are big so you will find parking further away from restaurant. The parking is always free. Didnt see a valet. Group ordered raw oysters, lobster bisque, colossal shrimp cocktail, land&sea, sword fish and scallops. The vegans had ordered the side dishes cooked with olive oil, potatoes, mushrooms and spinach.
My husband and I shared a fantastic seafood platter of lobster, clams, colossal shrimp, mussels, and oysters as an appetizer. The platter came with various sauces-it was terrific.I had the stripe and shore as an entrée. That stripe was the best-tasting steak I ever had in my life. It was so good that I wanted to go to the back of the house to meet the chef who prepared it to find out what they did to that steak. (I love to cook) The only reason I didnt was it would have embarrassed my husband. Also, The lobster was incredibly delicious; it rested on top of a bed of al dente asparagus, and both were drizzled with a deliciously creamy white sauce. Finally, I was just as impressed with the Hasselback potatoes. It was incredibly flavorful, crispy on the outside, and creamy inside. It was so delicious. I must admit that I had never had my potatoes prepared that way.I would be remiss if I didnt mention the incredible staff members from the hostess, to the server, Ricky, to all the other wonderful people who ensured that our water glasses were full and who kept our drinks coming-Thank you. They were all professional and very gracious-thank you. All of you made our experience that much more pleasurable. I’ve had dinner at the Blu Pointe several times pre-pandemic, this experience was the very BEST!
Such an impressive resurant, but food is awful. Came in with a few couples to enjoy food by the water. We were looking for a nice place to dine as we were having friends up from Florida. Appetizers were over cooked and bland (calamari was terrible). Entrees were either on par with any local pizzeria (yes, a seafood dish you can get at a pizzaria) or again extremely bland! Waiters were quite annoying as well pushing drinks, wine and deserts all while not even refilling your water glass! We will definitely not be returning. You have been warned, definitely not worth the money.
The ambiance was so beautiful. I went at night the lights from the deck bounced off the water it was so beautiful. The food was delicious. There was a slight issue but the manger made everything better. The staff was efficient and pleasant. Definitely a great place to go for a great meal and good vibe. This place is pretty pricey but worth it.
Very nice restaurant. Chris was our server and he was very nice and took good care of us. If you love shell fish, beef or wine, this place is for you. My salad was dressed too heavy. I had a vegetarian eggplant pasta option that was very heavy for lunch. 99% of the time I clear my plate. Today I didn’t. Several servers came at once to deliver our meals. We did wait what seemed like a very long time for our soup and salad until I said something to our server. This restaurant sits on side the Hudson River and we had an outside seat. Overall, I felt this was a three-star lunch experience.
Blu Pointe is great !!!! The food is absolutely Exquisite..HOWEVER RICKY “The Captain” which is equivalent to an Asst manager is absolutely HORRIBLE !!!!I decided to take my wife out this evening to enjoy what once was one of our favorite restaurants in the Hudson Valley area. The ambiance and tasty food is enjoyable and I must say we have always loved the first class service that is displayed from the moment you enter this breath taking restaurant. Normally my usual is the steak and lobster, as for my wife she likes to explore the menu. Frutti di mare is what she decided to order with an added lobster tail. The meals came and to her surprise the lobster tail wasn’t in her dish. The waitress stopped by to ask how everything was shorty after our meals arrived, and we informed her that the lobster tail was missing. The waitress actually glanced into my wife’s plate, as my she twirled her food around for the waitress to see that their was no lobster in her dish and the waitress acknowledged that it was in fact not in the dish and apologized. The waitress assured us that she would remove the up-charge for the lobster from the bill. Half way through our meal Ricky stopped by our table asked how our food was, then said to my wife “Oh I see you ordered my favorite meal. I actually noticed the chef chopping up lobster and putting it into your dish, I have to try it like that one day”. I then informed Ricky that my wife didn’t see or taste lobster. Again he insisted that it was put into her dish, and carried on to say enjoy the rest of your meal. Once we received the check we noticed we were charged for the lobster tail. I kindly asked the waitress why we were charged and she stated I was told to charge you. I then asked to speak to Ricky and I informed him that the lobster wasn’t included in my wife’s meal and again he stated that it was and it was cut up to accommodate not having to peel it from shell. The fact that it was a dinner for my wife to celebrate Mother’s Day I wasn’t going to challenge the bill any further and told him I’m going to pay the bill but I want to assure you that my wife didn’t have any lobster. Ricky then took my payment and charged me for the lobster my wife never received . I cannot believe the lack of respect and failed customer service my wife, on might I add again Mother’s Day received from Ricky. I literally am at a lost for words. Never have I ever felt like this leaving a restaurant I consider to be 5 stars. Quite frankly I don’t know if I can even consider this a 5 star restaurant after this experience or if I could even return after the customer service or lack there of that we encountered today.
Meh… I wasn’t too impressed with this place. The view was really nice and the staff was very helpful and nice. My main complaints about this pace was the food was absolutely terrible. They gave us this toasted bread that was ok but it was pretty much burnt. My gf got the lobster roll and it tasted pretty bad. The thing was so soggy and salty it was barely edible. It was almost like they melted an entire stuck of butter on it. I got some asparagus and the lobster pasta. The asparagus reeked and was way over priced for like 5 pieces of asparagus. The lobster pasta claimed to have 1+ lbs of lobster in it but there wasn’t that much. It was way too spicy and it wasn’t even that hot. The sauce tasted pretty subpar. It was almost like they got a jar of Ragu, threw in some spices, microwaved it and dumped it on top of over cooked noodles. These dishes were outrageously priced too. All of that and I think two slices of cheesecake was like $160. Definitely not impressed.
My husband and I came here for Valentines Day dinner, and it was such a wonderful evening! The atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and romantic and our server was wonderful. We had a table right next to the water and were able to enjoy the boats cruise by. The signature drink for the night was amazing - Aphrodites something? The food was great, we had the charcoal grilled octopus as an appetizer, swordfish kebabs for dinner and creme brulee and red velvet cheesecake for dessert. I definitely recommend this restaurant and will be back again!
Good somewhat upscale restaurant. Great location and outdoor seating view. Grilled octopus is good. Their crabcake is excellent, lots of actual crab meat instead of fillers. Their branzino is good too. For dessert, the chocolate mousse was good, but their lavender donuts were outstanding, just a hint of lavender that doesnt overpower.
We came here for dinner on a weekday and didn’t have a reservation; however, we were seated in just under 5 minutes so that was a good start to our dinner. The service was good until our waiter disappeared and then we had to find someone else to help us. Then our waiter reappeared (apologizing) but then disappeared again and we ended up asking someone else for the check. Although we were a bit confused by this, we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, and that is why I am giving 5 stars to this restaurant. Their bread is from heaven!
I have been here many times: diners, lunches and parties all on weekends and everything was good. However, I had a midweek lunch that was awful:from the front of the house, to the wait staff to the chef. All food was overcooked, service was poor. The only redeeming factor was the bartender made good cocktails. Must be the D staff during the week for lunch. For the overpriced food, I would expect a lot more - I guess we are paying for the view of the Hudson River!
Awesome Thanksgiving, NYE, and any time you want amazing seafood.I want to keep editing my review and keep giving this place 5 stars but Google doesnt allow it lol...but again, another amazing meal--thanksgiving takeout--incredibly generous portions! I was not expecting to have leftovers, ordered for 4 people for this pandemic thanksgiving and these guys just keep excelling in presentation, taste, portion size, and friendliness!! Hope Blu pointe sticks around for a VERY long time!
Brunch is phenomenal, view is spectacular!! Best part in my opinion is when your host/hostess shows you to your table they make small talk on the way and casually slide in are you celebrating anything today? I said it was my mother-in-laws birthday and they brought her a special dessert on a plate that said happy birthday! I loved not having to excuse myself to the bathroom to find my waiter to tell him! Great job Blu Pointe!!
Horrible!!!! The bartender/waitress took it personal because I told her to smile and was unprofessional the rest of the night ignoring me and not even looking at me. I’m glad I wasn’t paying because she would’ve never got a tip. I believe her name was Marie or Maria or something like that. Terrible!!!!!
Today was my fourth time at the Blue Point. As I had no reservation, i stayed in the bar, was perfect. The bartenders are very friendly and attentive, all the time with a smile in their faces. The food is delicious and they have many options for every customer. The place is absolutely clean and the view amazing. I hope will be back very soon. Best brunch in tri state.
We were there for the brunch buffet on Sunday. Upon entering, they asked whether we would like to be seated outside or inside - we asked to sit by the water and they told us that the only option was by the bar which looked pretty good until we sat down. There was nearly any shade - forks and utensils were heated to a point where we cant pick it up. Luckily some portion of the table was shaded so we all hunched towards the shade. Food was decent and well prepared, nothing particularly impressive. But they were well prepared for sure. Waitress barely visited us towards the end so we ended up paying the bill at the front. If you live around here (or drive your boat around this area) it is worth a visit - for the quality of the food is decent.
We went there for brunch on Sunday. It was pretty packed, but we were able to seat outside with great view. They have buffet style brunch with a lot of different dishes. Everything that we tried was fresh ans delicious. And for reasonable price. Definitely will be back
Blu Pointe hosted our COVID Casualty wedding, trimmed down to 19 immediate friends and family. The banquet area more than accommodated the dining tables, a picture table, and the cake table, with room for the ceremony at one end. Of course, sitting on the Hudson and the views there speak for themselves. The food was fantastic as was the wine selection, and the servers (and the manager) could not have been more professional and attentive. Should we have reason to host another smaller formal event, I wont even look elsewhere. Dont hesitate to stop by for lunch or dinner and see for yourself. 5 Zagat Stars!
Very cozy, and romantic waterfront environment. Very professional and attentive staff. Someone was always coming over to see if everything was okay. The staff stayed on top of their game; excellent service. The drinks were okay. The bread was grilled til it was almost burnt, but when we asked for it not to be grilled as much, the next batch came out petfect. The grilled shrimp for appetizers was good. The crispy buttermilk Oysters were delicious; wish it would have come with more. The double cut Pork Chops was plentiful. It was good but could have been seasoned a bit more. The Sea Scallops was seasoned just fine. For dessert, the Mudslide Doughnuts was warm, and tasted amazing. Took some of the Vanilla ice cream and mixed it with the doughnuts. Loved the combination! Didnt know it was restaurant week for Hudson Valley, but glad we came.
We went here for lunch. The view and restaurant are gorgeous. Some of the menu items are quite pricey. I had a good eggplant sandwich. My friends burger wasnt cooked well done, as she had ordered. They cooked her another one and was very attentive to her dietary needs (gluten free).
Phenomenal. In town visiting family. It was my birthday and this is the restaurant they recommended. Everything was spectacular. Clams, grilled calamari, grilled octopus, and fried calamari for first course. Lamb chops and scallops for the second. Exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend.
I have been to the wonderful Sunday Brunch twice. I will be going back again. Lovely service along with Lovely views of the Husdon river make for a magical afternoon. The brunch offerings are extensive and high quality. This is a nice place for couples or for afterwork drinks.
My husband & I came here for dinner this evening, we were VERY pleased w/this restaurant, he asked me when was I going to take him for a a nice seafood meal, we recently moved to New Windsor so I had no idea where to go, I looked up seafood restaurants in New Windsor, Blu Pointe came up in the search. After reading A LOT of the reviews, some good, some no so good, I decided to take him here, I wanted to see for myself what this place was about, well, let me say again, we were VERY pleased, you definitely need to make a reservation, we were greeted by the hostess, she said our table would be ready in 5 minutes, & it was, another hostess came over & asked if we wanted bottled water or regular water & introduced us to our server Chris; unlike a lot of the reviews about the hostesses not being engaged, well, maybe it was an off day, so we ordered our appetizers, my husband had the calamari & lobstercargot, WOW, both were FANTASTIC, my husband is a Chef himself so he is SUPER critical about the food he eats when we go out; he was QUITE impressed with the calamari, if it is not cooked correctly it can be be chewy, this however was PERFECT, the lobstercargot was also FANTASTIC, he ordered the colossal shrimp & lobster mac n cheese for dinner, I had the collosal shrimp cocktail for my appetizer, scallops & grilled asparagus, the waiter suggested since both of ordered the lobster mac n cheese as a side it probably would be better & more cost effective just to order it as another entree that we could share, well, that was a BRILLIANT idea, the portions are just right, the scallops were perfect, the corn & avocado was delicious, Im not a fan of avocado, but it did not over power the dish, my husband raved about the calamari throughout dinner, we sat RIGHT on the rail outside, WHAT A GORGEOUS sight to see, WE were SO pleased that we came, we definitely we be back very soon, oh yes, I mustnt forget to mention the bread & eggplant jam, what a bright flavor combo to start a wonderful meal, again, yes come here for a VERY nice dinner, wonderful atmosphere, & great people serving you, I would recommend BLU POINTE to everyone
Havent been here in about 2 years. So happy they brought back the Prime Time Happy Hour Menu. We had a group and got some nice seating on the couches by the fire place. It was so cozy and nice. Service was great and the complimentary bread w. olive tapenade was unexpected and delicious! Wish it didnt get so dark so early because the views from the location were beautiful!
Gorgeous view. Wonderful service. Lovely decor. Seafood was quite good. Friend ordered well done burger so okay but in a high end and pricey place a 25 dollar burger still should not be dry. Other friend ordered steamers which should have the tails and foreskins but instead they were really steamed clams. That was disappointing for her and not explained. Overall, liked it and would go again for seafood and beautiful views and setting.
Its disgusting that a place like this hasnt been shut down by the health department. It is infested with roaches as well as rats. I have personally seen a rat run through the dining room as well as one fall from the ceiling during brunch. Not sure about recently but when you walk into the building you can smell rat urine between the two doors leading inside.... yuck!I have also seen the roaches they have crawling through their kitchen from a photo sent by a family friend who no longer works there after the mistreatment they encountered from owners and management.Too add on top of everything this establishment has made myself sick as well as my husband. Not once, but twice. At first we thought it was something else but after realizing that we hadnt eaten anywhere else that day or had eaten anything else in general since eating there we could only assume Blu Pointe made us sick. Twice is definitely enough. Stay clear of this place!
We came to celebrate a birthday and were expecting a wonderful meal and exceptional service....we received neither. The food was ok, but not special (the scallops and clams were overcooked). The service was terrible. We ordered a cider...no glass, we ordered appetizers and a meal, they took our utensils after appetizers and never replaced them for dinner. We waited 15 minutes to find someone to finally get forks. The manager took care of our 2 drinks, but seriously...that was $25 out of a $200 meal. So disappointed. On the upside, the view was spectacular.
We were in the area celebrating our anniversary and this place was recommended to us and boy it did not disappoint! The host greeted us right away and we were seated right by the big beautiful windows by the water front (I dont think there are any bad seats there) then the Sommelier greeted us with the wine/drink menu and made great recommendations. Then our friendly waiter took our order promptly and we were served about 20 minutes later and it was amazing! I had the salmon and hubby had the shrimp. Tasted very fresh and all the flavors paired well together. Matter of fact, I believe its the best salmon I ever had and my husbands shrimp was well seasoned. Of course we topped it off with the torte with ice cream for dessert and it was delicious as well. We will definitely be back if ever in the area again! This place did not disappoint!
Place is really good. You pay for what you get. The menu is elaborated enough to keep you coming for more. Service is good, so are drinks, dirty martini was on point. All this add to the amazing view and Hudson River breeze. Appetizers were good, the only bad experience I had was the octopus dish. Very pricey, very bitter. Taste like someone blend lemon seeds with the sauce, or they burned the hell of the octopus on a dirty grill. I tasted the other dishes and were very tasty. Anyway I recommend this place.
First off, this place is gorgeous and has amazing views in a great location. The decor is beautiful and feels very upscale. Unfortunately, the food was a major let down. I ordered a medium rare steak and it was completely raw, and probably only rare after I sent it back. I will say this was for a wedding so I understand it is hard to cook for 100 people but everyone elses dishes seemed overcooked and dry. Hopefully the food is better if you go for just lunch or dinner.
This was such a delight. The restaurant has such a nice feel and so homely as you walk and the views are phenomenal. The service is beyond great and the attendants are super nice and helpful. The food was magnificent and portion sizes were so large we ended up taking home food. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised and will be returning for their brunch on Sunday. Mind you we live over an hour away and were there only for a business meeting. But after such a great experience we couldnt wait to go back. So Brunch on Sunday it is.....
What a disappointment! The view here lovely. The setting is very nice. The food is pretty good. The service was awful. Staff showed right up to take our order and sell us wine then disappeared completely with the exception of delivery of said food and wine. After they poured a glass of wine, the bottle was AWOL. We spent the rest of the ($200+ 3/people) meal with no wine, no water, no condiments, or none of the extras we wanted to order. The manager walked by three times and we could neither catch his eye, nor did he stop. I finally got up and found the waitress and asked for our wine and water which eventually came. Then it took about 20 more minutes to get the check and pay (we were no longer in the mood for desert or after dinner drinks). While we were at Blu Pointe it wasnt that busy , and the better than average food does not compensate for the horrible service. I cannot think of a reason to return given these factors.
Given the COVID situation, my now wife and I had to quickly find a new place to host a small gathering for our post-wedding celebration that was safe and responsible. Mary and the whole team at Blu Pointe ensured that everything was taken care of. Everyone at the dinner felt safe and we all had a great time with great food/wine.Thanks again for making our wedding dinner the best it can be!
Really special place! The views of the Hudson River are expansive and magnificent. Recently renovated the decor is very beautiful. The seafood is outstanding, everything is incredibly fresh. A true farm to table experience. The Sunday brunch is not to be missed. It is a buffet and there are both breakfast and lunch items as well as a huge selection of desserts. It is a true feast! Add in a bloody Mary and the beautiful Hudson river views and you’re basically on vacation. This restaurant is well able to handle crowds, there is rarely a wait, everyone is well organized. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!!
Had a great time tonight at Happy Hour with my people. Food was awesome and super tasty - get the flat breads (both Truffle and Fig and Prosciutto ones) and the sliders (yum!) - the ambience is beautiful and our waiter, Avery, was awesome! Have been there a couple of time and each time the experience gets better. Red sangrias were on POINT, as was the Coffee & Doughnuts dessert, too!
We brought in the New Years with Blu points amazing brunch! Blu point is newly renovated in the space formely named Torches. The new management should be applauded for bringing life back to the north end of the Newburgh waterfront. The decor is outstanding, featuring a large fireplace near the main entrance. I also love the fresh seafood market display by the bar. The food is also great, the buffet was spaced pretty well and people looked happy while filling their plates. Too much to name but it was all chefs quality and delicious. I was very happy and will be back for dinner.
Very nice restaurant. My wife took me here for my Birthday dinner. The food was excellent and the staff was on point. Though we didnt have a reservation but they still found us a nice table with couch seating but I did like it and it was a change from the traditional seating. I was so comfortable the whole time. we ordered oysters, clams lamb chops and a ribeye steak and the food was excellent and prepared how we ordered it. Not to mention decently priced. We are original from NYC and moved here 6 months ago and have found it difficult to find anywhere that compares to NYCs fine dining and here we found it. We will definitely be coming back.
Came here without reservations and last minute. They were booked, but offered a Happy Hour at the lounge area. AlI I can say is that Blu Pointe is ON POINT! Excellent Service and intelligent Waiters. Management is doing an excellent job...food is to perfection with freshness.I live in Manhattan and this Restaurant is at the same Caliber as a Five ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Highly Recommend!
We expected better from this place. . I took my mother there on 8/13/21 and the service was really bad. I ordered the King Crab ($80 a plate) and my mother a Shrimp meal which she had to return because it was overcooked so she order the King Crab as well. I dont mind paying this kind of money if the service was good but our waiter disappeared completely. We heard he took his hour break. What he should have done was to tell us to to let us know who was the new waiter replacing him! No one came to check on us so I flagged down a manager to order drinks. Then a blonde waitress came to deliver them and had an attitude when we told her how we feel about the waiter disappearing. My total bill for LUNCH was $258. For this price we should have been treated MUCH better. I do not plan on going back.
I dont have the words to accurately describe this place. Fantastic and awesome do not do it justice. The food is remarkably fresh consistently impeccable and absolutely delicious. Wait staff and servers are absolutely attentive and always friendly. The bartenders make amazing drinks. The Great Scotch is my favorite. The coffees are perfect! Theyre the most natural balance of coffee, cream and chosen liqueur. The view of the Hudson is wonderful. Perfect date night, anniversary, celebration, girls night or I feel special spot to eat. Its not just dinner or food its an experience and I truly treasure that.
A group of four recently went to celebrate an anniversary. It was a delight! The setting is beautiful, with a great view over the river and mountains. The seating was comfortable, the tables spaced nicely, the sound level was lively, but not loud or intrusive. The cocktails that we had were surprisingly excellent, and reasonably priced. The menu selection is diverse, offering seafood and meat options as well as some veggie choices. All of us were really happy with our meals which were delivered properly paced. There isnt much to criticize. One minor change that could kick it up a notch would be minor improvements to the staff, who were mostly young. Their clothing was similar but ill-fitting, and not always as professional as one might want for a special night out. Perhaps hiring challenges are to blame, but they were all polite and making an effort. One minor disappointment was that there was no acknowledgement of the special day for one of the couples, despite being asked. Minor faux-pas.While we were in Newburgh, we were advised by a local to visit Liberty Street Bistro and Blu Pointe, which were touted as the best options in the city. Blu Pointe ticked most of the boxes for a great night out. Liberty Street Bistro has work to do to become a worthwhile detour.
Went for my wifes birthday, they gave her a piece of paper that said happy birthday. Most places that cost much less give you a small dessert on your birthday at the very least. I guess a piece of paper is the very least now though, haha! We drank water and had one glass. We were never asked if we wanted a refill on our glasses of water after sitting with empty glasses the rest of the night. The view is beautiful and so is the building, but I would never come back here again.
I have dined at Blu Pointe over 30 times. I have had great, good and bad experiences.Today I came here and ordered the pan seared Halibut over spinach and Yukon potatoes. The entire plate was less than Luke warm. I did not eat since 2pm today so I was too hungry to send it back. I also asked for bread once my plate was sat down and I did not receive it until 90% of the meal was eaten. Not one person stoped by to ask how was the meal until I was finished. They did ask if I needed to speak to a manager which I declined. I still tipped close to 20% because I know mistakes happen.I don’t often write reviews and I want to stress I have had good meals here in the past but sometimes a business needs to know when things go awry.Hopefully my next visit is better.
My daughter and my son-n-law had their mini wedding there on April 9, 2021. Mary was truly wonderful, making the day stress free and very happy. The food was superb; we enjoyed the seafood tower, the crab cake and the steak dinners. I hear the bass was astounding! The wedding cake was not only beautiful but also delicious. Service was excellent. Wine and cocktails kept flowing. Mary did her best to work with the couples budget, and even made sure to send them off with some gifts to remember the day by. Thank you Mary and everyone at Blu-Point!Robin & Marv Barsky
Their dinner menu is way, way over priced!! I dont go there for dinner any more. Way too expensive and not worth it. Last time I went there for my birthday in 2021 and I spent $250 for dinner which was a total rip off.. my dinner was good but defenitely not worth $60 for a small steak and my wifes dinner was 4 large shrimp with some smashed bean side which was terrible and not worth $40. Add 2 Appetizers and 2 Desserts and the bill before tip was $200.Now, their Sunday brunch is something different, its the best around and totally worth the money!! Its $37.50 per person, all you can eat.The lunch and breakfast buffet selections were delicuous and the food was super fresh. They make the BEST eggs benedict, period!! The chicken and waffles were really good. Nice selection of deserts and parfaits. I highly recommend their brunch!!
The ambiance was great to compliment the stunning views. However, when my wife and I arrived at 3pm, the hostess abruptly asked can I help you and failed to make eye contact. I inquired about outdoor seating and she said there were no openings until 8pm, again no eye contact and communal table wait was 2 hours. Seriously!!! She also did not offer any recommendations to secure our business. We were about to walk out when my wife recommended we sit at the bar or share communal space. She went over to the hostess and manager with the idea and both agreed if we can find a space, why not. I’m not sure why they both did not provide that option in the beginning. We sat at communal table for 5min with a nice couple until 2 seats at the bar opened up. We were waited on by Thomas who was 100% on point. He was very attentive and made the best expresso Martini outside of Manhattan where we live. Back to the story, within 15min at the bar, the communal space was 75% vacant. Also, the entire time we occupied the bar, there were 5 empty tables outside. When we paid the $150 bill + tip (lobster roll, burger, 3 drinks and cesar salad) which was worth it, my wife questioned the manager about outside open tables. He became agitated and said tables are reserved and customers may be running late due to traffic. She proceeded to ask what is the policy for no shows. He responded 20 to 30 minutes window, seriously. She also inquired on why hostess and he did not recommend bar seating and communal table share. He said we seemed steadfast on eating outside. I guess he is a mind reader. Most restaurants with a long wait time would offer customers option to sit at the bar, communal seating or provide wait time for inside seating. Please note I read a few reviews on Blue Point claiming factious outdoor seating is reserved for a 3-4 hour block of time. I would recommend etiquette training for both manager (not the one with the ponytail) and hostess if they are to work in an upscale restaurant. Maybe have Thomas conduct lessons on customer service. I would have rated Blu Pointe a 1 but Thomas attention to detail and superior bar tendering skills put restaurant on my radar going forward. We will give it another chance the next time we visit our properties in Newburgh. As an owner of several investment properties and 1 of 7 board members of NYC investors who frequent the Newburgh Hudson Valley area, I will hold off on recommending Blu Pointe to my investor community until then or recommending for our annual 2021 holiday party
Blu Pointe is ALWAYS a hit. Their indoor and outdoor dining is beautiful. There are great views of the water. The waitstaff is very professional and attentive, even on their busier nights. I havent had a bad meal there and Ive been there multiple times. Of course, they are on the more expensive side but definitely worth going to.
Most times places on the water have a view and not much else. Blu Pointe is the exception. Good food...great service and of course a good view. I would definitely recommend Blu Pointe to anyone that wants a place to go for good food, service and the river view. They have a menu that caters to all. We will definitely be going back...and soon.
In a party of 5, 3 of us were going for the first time to celebrate my birthday. We were not impressed! With a reservation, we were made to wait for an extended period of time and when we were finally escorted to our table nothing could be done so we could sit closer to the water. ( mind you, we watched all night to see how those tables were being allocated...but thats a different story)Our first waiter was a sweet Italian/Spanish miss and promises to take care of us. She did her best, it seemed but fate must have been against her and us! She had to do our bread her self, we were told when it FINALLY arrived at our table. Thank God for good conversation, because the evening was all about waiting! To cut a long story short, we had a second in command come and whisk all out utensils away only to return later to apologize, and further annoy us with queries as to what he could get us. ( How about our meal?) I guess the kitchen recognized the length of our wait and sent out beautiful scallops to entertain our pallets while we continued to wait...sadly, no one in my pary eats scallops. It went back to the kitchen and was replaced by a tomato salad.By the way our appetizers were great..we watched them being presented to another table then taken back to the kitchen only to re-emerge and then offered to us.Each time we asked how much longer till the main course, we were placated with it should be out shortly!I was over the evening by the time our snappers and salmon arrived. Everyone was happy..I pretended to be. My Snapper although beautiful to look at was too salty...maybe my fault for not alerting the kitchen to my sodium sensitivity.Cheesecake was so yummy...should have ordered it instead of that shortbread concoction! Our ordeal ended after three hours and as a parting gift we had someone run the vacuum around the table! We were delighted to sashay away!!
I went yesterday 8/20/21 for Happy Hour, a glass of wine and a tray of oysters. I brought my sisters and my Service dog. We planned on meeting a friend there. We got there at 3:20 and we ordered our wine and oysters. Shortly after our order I was approached by a person asking me if my dog was a service dog? I replied yes she is. He asked me to show proof so I did. He then said she is an Emotional Support dog, and not a Service Dog. He said she could not stay. I told him I couldn’t put her in a hot car being it was 85° outside. He (Manager)? told me she had to leave. My ESA was quiet, didn’t bother anyone. The person then said again she had to leave. I stood up and my sisters stood up and proceeded to walk out. I will never return there and a lot of my friends said they weren’t going there either.
Despite the insane volume here, the staff doesnt lose sight of quality food and dining experience. The food is absolutely the best in the Hudson Valley, the raw bar top quality as well. Much thanks to the staff for finding us last minute seating, and on Fathers day! You guys definitely made my day!
Little expensive, BUT very good. Had a huge steak perfectly cooked. Wife had surf n turf also really very good. Lots of grilled items which had a smokey note that I enjoyed, had a grilled calamari and crab cake app. Both were great. Dessert was chocolate covered strawberrys that were very sweet. berries were big and perfectly ripe. I had a strawberry crepe also very every good. Two drinks. Very good highly recommend.
My husband and I hosted our sons rehearsal dinner at this beautiful venue. It was such a pleasure from the beginning, when we met with Mary to start the process of selecting a room and a menu - she was wonderful. She has an enormously welcoming and warm essence about her, she made everything so easy. Each offering on the menu seemed so delicious it was difficult to narrow it down to a few choices! Upon the evening of our event, the staff was extremely helpful in assisting me with setting up the room...whatever I needed, from a cocktail at our arrival to setting up a table for desserts - they were right there, at the ready. Every single staff member we encountered was gracious and professional. The room had a complete view of the Hudson River - it was just beautiful. When everyone was seated, the dinner began right on schedule. Service was outstanding to say the least. Every morsel of food was prepared and served perfectly. I can honestly say this was THE BEST experience I have ever had with a restaurant. Every single person at the dinner came to us and expressed the same sentiment. I cannot thank Mary, and Jeff (the dining manager) for this beautiful experience. If you are searching for a venue or wonderful dining experience, please choose Blu Pointe. This, is how its done. Absolutely Phenomenal.
Came to check this place out after reading a must try restaurant list. It was a pleasant experience. They are busy and calling ahead to reserve is a great option. We did a walk in and wait 30 minuets to be seated at the bar. They have proper covid measures in place. I enjoyed the busy environment. The food is pricey and good for seafood lovers. I probably wouldnt come back and wouldnt have been sad to not have tried this place. All in all, a good experience.
Went for our anniversary and it was a great choice. I had the waygu skirt steak and omg it was so tender and melted in my mouth my husband had the king crab legs and I ended up helping him finish because there was so much. So ended up with surf and turf and the staff was great. We will be back. Also the patio dinning waterfront was amazing and highly recommended.
Blu Pointe has the best Sunday Brunch buffet in the Hudson Valley! The spread is impressive and extensive. The food is fresh and delicious. And the views of the Hudson River are absolutely priceless. The mimosas are not included in the buffet price but we still prefer this brunch over any other in the area! The blood orange mimosas are the best. We schedule a brunch for our anniversary every year and that traditional will carry on! The staff is wonderful and attentive. We love supporting local businesses and this is definitely one of our favorites in the Hudson Valley. It would be a wonderful place for a birthday dinner, baby shower or a rehearsal dinner. Blu Pointe never fails to impress us. We look forward to going back again and again. Highly recommend!
Very disappointed. Took my wife here for here 30th.Can careless on prices or size of portions if food is good. Bread too salty. Fried calamari fried to death salty. Salmon dish no taste. Grilled octopus not good.Clams were tasteless and like bubblegum. Kids pasta with butter sauce was even sub par. NYC prices withPoor quality cooking. Service fair. Atmosphere is nice.
Fine, elegant waterfront dining. The waitstaff are outstanding. Great seafood. The scallops and the Fruitti de Mare were delicious, as were the shrimp cocktail, calamari and New England clam chowder. The only disappointment was the cheesecake, which was dry and bland.
The four stars are more for the ambiance than the food. The restaurant is set right on the Hudson and has an upscale feel that appears to attract a millennial clientele. We went there to dine and experience a rose’ wine tasting event which was very nice.My wife ordered the seared scallops which she enjoyed. However she asked for a Caesar salad to go with it. The salad was placed on the same plate as the scallops which we thought a bit unusual. A friend had a half breast of chicken over garlic mashed potatoes. His wife had the salmon. I had the red snapper which I found somewhat bland. I asked for some tarter sauce to kick it up. However I soon discovered that the restaurant does not offer tarter sauce! A seafood restaurant that does not offer tarter sauce?! Baffling! I feel that the prices were a bit high for what is offered, but I realize that all prices have increased with inflation since January 20th when something happened. The service was good, but a bit slow because of multiple events taking place while we were there. The menu was not spectacular. The more tempting dishes were high double figures. The least expensive dishes were about $40 unless you wanted a sandwich.
Blu Pointe hmmmm. I have come here for years. In short nice views, uneven expensive food/drinks and wonky staff. I dont know why but I am always struck by how distant and impersonal the staff is. Maybe because they always seem so busy or maybe because they are hired for that quality. I dont know the reason but I leave there feeling like they just wanted to get the whole thing over with and get to the next customer. There is one bartender that is great but he is always crushed with orders. The food can be good to ok to just bad, some of it smacks of freezer burn, stale refrigerator funk and indifferent slop the food on the plate and get it out there preparation/presentation. I have had two bad experiences so watch out for the fresh seafood on Monday, Tuesday, and (?) Wednesday. Seems to me that there shouldnt be any penny pinching for the prices they charge and I probably should have gotten more than a Sorry about that oyster that tasted like fresh vomit from the manager. That said there are great views. Moreover, the place is very clean and beautifully decorated. Me and gf had 2 drinks, 2 appys with tip for $75.00. Its a toss up.
Went for Sunday brunch and it was phenomenal. We arrived a little earlier than our reservation and enjoyed drinks by a cozy and comfortable fireplace. The bar staff was extremely attentive and gracious. The menu for brunch was expansive and all dishes were constantly full and hot food was always hot. The wait stuff was always prepared to take empty plates away, fill water glasses, offer refills for other drinks, and more. The menu is well worth the price and the scenery and atmosphere make it even better.
Stopped for a drink on a nice July Wednesday at about 5P. The outside bar area had FIVE open tables, including small high tops. The hostess told us (there were 2 of us) that to get a spot outside, it would be a 45 minute wait. Seriously? All 5 tables were reserved? The outside bar was decent size, but there is no seating at it. And how did the hostess come up with a 45 minute wait? The Newburgh waterfront has gone downhill...this place is cocky and pretentious...and sheeple put up with it. It doesnt even have that great large aquarium that Torches had...Could someone bring back Gullys?
I must say we were excited at the prospect of dining at this establishment given its reputation. Unfortunately our experience fell far short of expectations. The wait staff was unprepared for the crowds on Memorial Day weekend. The restaurant did not deliver the main course for one hour and 20 minutes. They asked us to re-use soiled utensils between courses laying them on the table soiling the tablecloth. The hot coffee delivered for dessert was literally cold and the freshly brewed tea was inundated with free floating tea leaves in the cup. The manager attempted to write off the issues we encountered to COVID restrictions and the fish dish we ordered. While the food was very good, the dining experience left us truly disappointed.
I have always heard great things about Blu Pointe. I am disappointed that the service was not what I would expect from this type of restaurant. Celebrating my daughters graduation and we were constantly ignored most of the night. Something as simple as a refill for water took the server assistant 3 trips to the table to complete. From our view I watched as our drinks sat on the bar for 10 minutes before they were brought to the table. All this without even a full dining room. After we were done eating we sat for an extended period of time and my wife had to get up to ask someone else for take out boxes and a check. This is really unacceptable for a restaurant if this level.
Simply Excellent. The food was 5 stars. The service at least as good. Beautiful view. Well air conditioned. A bit expensive, but a complete package. Perhaps, most importantly I felt completely safe eating inside. Customers were safely distanced. Servers all wore masks properly. The extent that tables were sanitized were even better than regulations demand. Save up your dollars, make a reservation and enjoy. We sure did! Thank you Blue Pointe.
This place makes me so sad. Ive eaten dinner here before and the food and service is good. However, I most often come for drinks and snacks on their AWESOME patio. About two weeks ago, I was waiting for a reservation at another restaurant nearby and my friend and I thought wed grab a glass of wine on the patio while we waited. I called to ask if the patio was open for the season. They said yes and immediately followed it with but we dont take reservations. OK. I wasnt trying to make one. We walk up to the patio, three tables are occupied- out of probably 15. There are three employees at the bar. All three were purposely not making eye contact with us. After awkwardly looking around and trying to ge their attention, we figure out that the host desk is inside. Thanks for nothing. We let the host know we just want to get a quick glass of wine on the patio. Were told they have no available seating. Umm.. there are a ton of open tables out there. So they say theyre all reserved. I let them know that we were just told on the phone that you cant make reservations on the patio, but whatever. Im over it at this point, well just sit in the lounge. Terrible service, good drinks. We are done and out of there in 30 minutes. We walk out through the patio and now only two tables are taken! This isnt the first time Ive had an experience like this at Blu Pointe.. I dont know what the deal is, but every time I go (aside from dinner when they know they can make more money off of me) I feel like a second class citizen whos money and patronage isnt worth their time. It’s awful and I cant believe the management allows this.
The cleanliness along with professionalism from each waiter was great! With covid we are weary on eating out. However, we watched as each waiter sanitized their hands everytime they left a table, they were careful not to touch silverware and made our date eating out a lot more at ease. The pricing is a bit for the portions, but the taste, quality, and location on the hudson make up for it.
We went out for an early dinner on a Tuesday at 3:00PM. The people at the front were very snobby and unwelcoming. They asked if we had a reservation but we did not. They made us wait almost 15 minutes before seating us even though the place was more than half empty. We spent over $550 on a party of four. The wagyu skirt steak was way too spicy and the filet mignon (asked to be done medium) was cooked as though the chef wanted to serve beef jerky. NOT WORTH THE MONEY.
Beautiful location and great view. Kind and courteous staff. The drinks were delicious, the food portions were good and the grilled calamari and Pappardell Bolognese were both prefectly cooked- the bollgnese even stay hot the entire time I was eating it. My wife had the was colossal shrimp. The sauce was slightly spicy, which was a pleasant surprise, but we felt the shrimp was just slightly overcooked and may have been previously frozen or slightly past its prime. The meal was not inexpensive, so definitely a place for special occasions. I will go again, but but avoid the shrimp.
Very, very disappointing. We have tried this place 3 times and all three times everything was a disappointment from the food to the service. Once receiving the check it even gets worse. Today we had to wait to be seated. The restaurant was empty but we had to wait for 20 minutes. In a nut shell, our appetizers were burnt, the calamari was put on the table brown/black of color and the taste was disgusting. We both ordered lobster rolls. Again, the buns were burned. The lobster was hard to find, the fries raw. One order came with sauce, the other didnt. The waiter didnt help matters. EVERYTHING we ordered come wrong (it took the waiter 3 turns to get things right). If you like ambiance and location this place is great. Just dont expect service or food to be good or the price to be right.
We went for dinner on a beautiful Saturday. We got to sit outside and enjoy the view. Our waitress was very pleasant (a little forgetful but sooo nice and attentive). The food was very good.We had oysters, shrimp cocktail, grilled octopus, Atlantic Cod w/brocclirabe & truffle fries and desserts (panna cotta & creme brulee). Everything was good. Will dine there again.

2022-06-13The Prime Time menu Monday-Friday 3-6 PM is a remarkably good deal! I was seriously impressed with $1 oysters, $3 fish tacos, and more. Dining by the water was more than memorable!

2022-05-04Extraordinary restaurant with one of the best wine selection in the Hudson Valley. The food is superb and the Chef came out and spoke about the cuisine. We have alway had good food and good service at Joes places. What a great man and wonderful family.
