Blue Dolphin in other cities:
I have driven by here many times over the years but never stopped. I didn’t realize it was Greek American. The place was crowded with what seemed like regulars which is always a good sign. The food was very good. They make most of their food from scratch and you can tell. Bathroom was outdated but clean and functional. I would recommend this restaurant to a friend. I hope to come back again when passing through.
Had the French toast and the grilled cheese....both amazing! Huge portions, quick friendly service. As a heads up, no Amex for payment. Looked.likr amazing pastries and desserts but I did not have either one. Definitely worth the trip - much better than any chain fare you will find around.
Visiting a friend and he took us here for lunch. I was not disappointed at all, the food was amazing and servings were plentiful. Pretty darn good gyro. Staff is nice love my Greeks! If I’m back in town this’ll be one of my go to spots. Prices were pretty good especially for the sizes. So yeah good food, go service, and great spot for lunch.
Excellent steaks and was cooked exactly as I requested it to be. Prices are fantastic. I would this restaurant to anyone who wants a fabulous meal. BTW but the deserts are simply gorgeous and filling but not sickish sweet. I liked it there so much that I asked to go there for dinner one additional time before I left to return back home.
This is a tremendously great place to eat. I had lamb chops for the very first time and they were so tasty! My husbands calamari marinara dish was great also. There was so much food, too! We walked back over from our motel to get a piece of their Bavarian cheesecake. It was well worth going back. The staff was very friendly! I recommend this diner.
This one of my favorite diners, and conveniently located off Route 17 / I-86 east. Owners are Greek, and really know how to prepare Greek entrees and special soups. They also have standard American fare, and prices are very reasonable. But the biggest draw are their delicious desserts. They are amazing in scope and diversity. Also, like to mention that restaurant is clean and bright, making a nice place to visit. I was just there again last week, as I have some sons that live in Binghamton.
I live in PA so we dont go here often. Usually only once a year on our way home from Watkins Glen. Been doing that for over 30 years now. The food is always good. The owners are Greek so they do serve some Greek dishes. Staff always friendly. Prices are reasonable. Give it a try.
Food was good,.desserts amazing. Staff nice. Surprised that people were seated in booths nest to each other. Would have preferred keeping every other booth empty. Covid is still here folks and we have to remove masks to eat. Safety over numbers. I would have left if I wasnt with family who wanted to eat there.
Stopped in for breakfast before heading south to Florida. Our waitress cleaned the table, seated us & took our order. The food was very good & our waitress kept our beverages full. There was a cashier when we left, but I didnt see any other servers working the floor. Our waitress did an outstanding job. I hope they get some more servers to help her out.
Go to place for homemade, amazing desserts! Bavarian cheesecake is phenomenal (so is everything else). For dinner, the Greek food is great. Right now they are seating every other table, so be prepared to wait a bit. Only complaint is that there is only one refill on soft drinks and no refills on others.
We were here for a family function. Honestly, based on the looks outside, I wasnt expecting much. I got the sirloin tips over mashed potatoes - it was very tender although I wasnt super crazy about the seasoning they used. Overall it was an enjoyable meal. The place definitely needs updates on both the inside and outside.
Always looking for a great dinner to get away from all of the fast food. This place was fabulous and Grace was one of the most efficient and positive people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Will mark this as a favorite spot so I do not miss it when Im in this area again.
Weve been coming here for decades but the food quality has really slipped since new ownership. Ordered my favorite spanokopita. It was soggy and not at all flaky - almost like it leftovers was warmed up in a microwave. And many of their traditional Greek dishes are now missing from the menu. Well be heading over to Petes Legacy next time.
We waited a bit to b seated. Wasnt many people in thereThe waitress we had was horrible. No idea of what was on the menu, she had maybe 4 tables &was totally over her head, she forgot half of our order & the people who sat across from us she messed up everything they ordered. We were there 4 over and hour, I had a sandwich & my husband had the special. It will be a long time before we go back.
Took an hour to get the food and they “forgot to cook the appetizer”. Girlfriend said turkey tasted like tuna, still don’t know if it was made wrong or just gross turkey. Waitress went on break and handed us our check without telling any of her coworkers. Will not be back
Great little spot! I honestly wasnt expecting much when we pulled in, but it was late and we had been driving a while so we pulled up to this little diner, or iner as my kids put it because the D on the sign was out. I normally wouldnt stop somewhere with a D out but I took a chance. When the waitress took our order she was quick, attentive, and on point, so much so that she had brought us things as we called her over to request them as if she heard our thoughts from across the room. The food was good. Came out quickly. We even stayed for dessert which we normally dont do. Kids played Pokemon Go because those things were everywhere too! Definitely will return!
In the time of Covid eating out has changed. The food is good and the portions are sizable. The staff is friendly and the service is prompt. The customers tend to be 40 and above the times Ive been there. It shows its age some but its clean and has extra rooms for events. The desserts are over sized and delicious. If your looking for a friendly place for comfort food or a coffee and dessert this is a place that would work for most people. Easy on and off the highway.
Biggest best tasting burger Ive had in years. Only 10 bucks too and I could only eat half of it and Im a fat guy! I drove by this place too many times before. No wonder the perkins across the street is empty. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SMALL BUSINESSES AND LEAVE THE CORPORATE CHAINS TO SUFFER FOR ONCE!
We drove from north of Watkins Glen , to enjoy a late lunch! What a mistake that was. Two women were talking up front and could not be bother to seat us! My husband asked if they wanted us to go some other place to eat! Response was no you’re fine!Took awhile to get waited on! No bread with our salad! I asked a table cleaner for salt and pepper! When the waitress finally came back, it was obvious she had been crying. Looks to us you are getting ready to be shut down! Very sad as we have eaten there for years! Will be years again if you remain open! Terrible afternoon for us!
The service of the staff was ridiculously embarrassing for this restaurant 😳 All of our food was barely warm and took forever to come to our table! For the price I paid, the experience shouldve been so much better!! I was disappointed simply because I LOVE this place and now Im iffy on whether or not I will ever go back! And ALL of my family & friends know not to waste their money!
Food was great but service was horrible. Our server was very polite and friendly but took forever to be served, to get our food and forget about getting a 2nd cup of coffee. The place wasnt busy...early bird time. Sad to say its time for us to find another Greek restaurant :(
Food was good and so was the service, even an hour before closing in an empty house. (Covid bloss)Got a salmon burger and it was made perfectly. Bun was well toasted, tartar sauce was great. The salmon was grilled just right. It just turns out I liked the steak more though. The steak fries are killer. Get them.Wait wasnt too long, but it wasnt busy.TLDR; great food great service get the steak fries
If youre looking for a quick bite, this isnt the place. Seated quickly, took about 10 minutes to get drinks, another 15 to get HALF of what we ordered, the other half was coleslaw, a bottle of beer, and napkins. Plus side, food was hot, downside, coleslaw was either gone bad or just soggy from being pre-portioned and sitting around. Went out of our way to dine here and was not impressed after driving 4 hours. 3 stars is generous.
Nice diner. Our waitress (Melissa) was friendly and did a great job. We had a Breakfast special... $4.55 for a Belgian Waffle, 2 eggs, 2 sausage links and 2 bacon strips. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted great. Well be back next time were passing through. Thank You
I stopped in for a fried egg sandwich and a coffee to go, as I had in years past. Slow service, fried potatoes with the sandwich that were not asked for and not the quality I remembered. Still one of the best bakery racks in the Northeast!Update: stopped for dinner a couple weeks later. Very tasty, very quick. Restored my faith.
We are regulars here. We love the atmosphere and weve come to know many of the staff there. We eat here for Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner and have for years. Although prices have recently increased you still get a good value here. The food is always good. They decorate the restaurant at holiday times and it just an easy and comforting place to sit down with your family or friends and enjoy a quiet meal together.
I have been there several times for breakfast and never had any problems with their service. The food is always very good and the pricing is very good. But today, the service wasnt very good. There wasnt a big crowd so dont believe this was an issue. After we placed our order we waited around 35 minutes to receive our food. The waitress was waiting on customers in a different area and when I finally did get her attention she said it will be right out and we did still wait around another 5 minutes. I dont know if it was a waitress problem or cook problem but this shouldnt be acceptable to any customer
A bit of an older diner. I came in and waited for the hostess for about ten minutes while she leaned on a counter looking at her phone. Two eggs over easy, sausage, home made bread toasted and potatoes with coffee for under ten bucks. The food was cooked the way I requested and the waitress was friendly.Rest rooms were pretty disgusting and could use a coat of paint. Right off the highway and an easy stop, overall a good visit.
I was blown away by this place... The portions are huge, the prices are great, and all the food is to die for. I am so glad that I live right near it, but even if you dont I promise that its worth the drive over. They have everything from fancy seafood platters-to old fashioned diner food.
It is one of the best place diners that I know. Good and affordable food that the whole family can enjoy. Its sort of setup as a Greek restaurant. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a huge display of everevery confectionery foods you can think of. I mean when is the last time you get to see an actual seven layer cake. I always enjoy coming here for a Sunday breakfast.
I havent been here in years, but we came back to try the old fashioned home cooked food. Was it great, no but the food was decent. I had a patty melt and it was delish. The mac and cheese was very different and the fish was good, but unseasoned. Would we come back? Yes. However, it wouldnt be a first choice. The waitresses were super nice and did everything to accommodate us. Personally, stick to the diner food and you will do great!
Heading back to pa after the holidays, i stopped at the blue dolphin. I order a cheese burger with fries, the burger was juicy and delicious. The fries were crispy and perfect. The waitress was a little slow, but the food came out hot and fast. I would really recommend this restaurant if you want something fast, hot, affordable ,with a comfy home setting go to the blue dolphin.
My dad and grandparents go here every thursday for breakfast. Ive tagged along a couple times and wish I had the time to come more often. The food is delicious, the waitress they always have is super sweet, the prices are great, and while youre there you can actually have a real conversation with someone without feeling like you have to yell over anyone. I love it!
Local favorite place for great food and friendly service. The layout is terrific you’re not crushed together the booths are comfortable. The menu is jammed full of delicious options. The breakfast is amazing and portions were generous.Prices are reasonable and competitive.
The food quality was really good. I got a bagel with cream cheese and it really hit the spot for a lite bite! Everyone else in the party seemed to enjoy their food as well and it all looked delicious. My little sister got the short stack (2) of pancakes and couldnt finish it all. Cant wait to come back and try the spot again.
Blue Dolphin has always been a good choice. The menu there is has a little bit of everything. The Greek food is delicious. The portions are large and prices are very reasonable. Huge dessert case. They also serve beer and wine. Ive been going there for years and never been disappointed. Theres always a lot of cars in the parking lot. An Apalachin staple.
Good service. Kinda a small breakfast menu for a diner. I feel like gravy and chicken fried steak are kinda staples for a diner, but not here. The omelette I ordered was cooked well, homefries needed more fry. Id go back but wouldnt make a special trip. Pancakes are horrible according to the girlfriend
I love this place. For anyone on a budget, looking for really good food, really good prices, and 95% of the time awesome servers, my hubby and I go here a lot. Breakfast menu is smallish, but you wont be disappointed with their French toast, waffles, or pancakes. If you order for lunch or dinner, be ready to take leftovers home. The portions are pretty big. And I cant even begin to tell you about the desserts. They have this cannoli cake, that is literally the best thing Ive ever had. They dont always have it. But when they do, I always get that. Oh! One piece of cake, could feed 3 people. No lie. Its huge.
Semi busy when we stopped for lunch. Had to wait for seating because multiple tables were empty but not cleaned off yet. After waiting for seats, they placed us in a banquet room in the back & seated several other customers out there, so unsure of why we waited at all. The food was delicious and priced fair. The dessert looked amazing, but was too full to try any.
Very good food... Great desserts for after the meal. The portion size of your meal very much worth the money. The wait staff is friendly and tend to leave you alone while youre eating... Which is big for me. the only reason they receive for stars instead of 5, is there is usually a long wait even if the restaurant is not full. Be patient, because the food is worth it.
Stopped for a bite on our way to Cornell. Very cozy diner, very spacious interior. Food is excellent - choice of fare comparable to any haute cuisine restaurant and the portions sizes need to be seen to be believed! The dessert selection is massive - and I am told they are excellent. Unfortunately, we were too full to try any..Food very reasonably priced. Very friendly and affable staff and servers. All in all a great experience. Highly recommended!
Stopped in here tonight while in the area. have eaten here before, years ago and it was good then too. dont always have an opportunity to eat here because it is not immediately local to us. but will make a point to visit more often after tonight. dinner was awesome, great diner food, generous portions @ reasonable prices. fresh baked warm bread was put on the table prior to the meal. impressed to find out that the bread and all the desserts in the dessert cases were made on the premises. service was friendly and prompt, we liked our server Steph a lot. she made us feel very welcome and comfortable. will be back.
Normally the food is decent for the price for lunch and dinner. I took my family for a birthday breakfast today and the food was awful. My sons pancakes were dry and his sausage was cardboard. Both steaks for my husband and my steak and eggs were thin, over cooked, and unseasoned. We were told that they werent allowed to season the steaks. We were given A1 sauce but I may as well have just eaten a spoonful of that because thats all I could taste. The home fries were mushy but seasoned, at least. My eggs were a little bit over done but I could live with it and the waffle was probably the best part of the meal. Im a bit disappointed in how it was handled, just taking off the pancakes and sausage when not one of us could eat our entire meal.
Our favorite diner to eat at when we are in state. We drive twice yearly from Oregon so we always try to eat here at least twice in the month we are there. Best prime rib we have ever had and menu is extensive. Great waitresses and service. Recommend this diner to everyone. If you have a large group it is advised to have reservations. Also if you dont have reservations around dinner time you may have to wait a bit to get a table or booth. 5 stars plus....
The bad reviews are just one bad experience. I come here every time I head up to the Adirondacks and never would stray to another pit stop for food.1. The cheesecake is the best cheesecake Ive ever had. Better than anything the Cheesecake Factory can make.2. The portions are huge! And cheap!3. Diner style is awesome. Speedy service, smiling faces. The waitresses really make you feel like a regular.
Usually go there for their hot roast turkey sandwich which is usually quite good. The last time I was there I had to eat around the sinewy pieces of turkey which almost gagged me. The flavor had a waxy taste to it. This occurred previously but I decided to give it another try as it used to be excellent,Very huge disappointment. Guess the Perkins next door has impacted business so they are buying cheaper meats.
Horrible service. Weve come every year the day after Thanksgiving on our way to get our Christmas tree. Ordered drinks and breakfast at the same time. Gotbourvdrinks and waited over an hour for food. Our drinks were never refilled. Overheard our waitress tell a nearby table when she brought their food (they arrived after us) that they were out of home fries...which was something we all ordered. Went looking for our waitress and another server yelled into the kitchen that a table in the back wanted to see her. Went back to our table, waited another 10 min. Gave up onand walked out. We paid for our drinks. Thete was a half hearted apology from the hostess who charged us for our drinks...no offer to waive the cost. If I could give no stars on this I would.
Restaurant closes at 9PM. Walked to the door at 8:45pm door was locked but still people inside moving around and customers. Waited about 5 minutes for someone to notice us. All we were trying to do was order a desert TO GO. hostess looked right at us and didnt say anything. Clearly the restaurant about 5 minutes later to ask to order a desert to go. Lady on the phone told us they were closed. Just crazy, never would I ever come in and order a meal that close to closing but a to go desert really?? Bad business.
I took my wife, mother, and family there for Mothers Day Breakfast. We waited well over an hour for our food and when it was received half of our orders were cold and the waffles were soggy. Have eaten here before with decent service, but this is the last time I will eat here. It is my worst dining experience ever.
Im from NY city where there are the best diners in the world..and this diner is AS GOOD as city diners..I drive 45 minutes to eat here..food is excellent...but sometimes I make the trip just for their desserts!!! Their lemon meringue pie is to die for...cant recommend it highly enough!!
Stopped here on our way up to the finger lakes. Just happened to be the first place we came across once baby woke up and needed to stop. Ordered two omelets to go though they seem to have all Covid precautions in place. Bacon, spinach and feta omelet was delicious and I really like their homefries - crispy, well seasoned and no peppers, just how I like them. The toast was good too but could have used more butter and the bathroom could have been cleaner. All in all it was great for a quick roadtrip breakfast.
Local restaurant with great service and affordable pricing. Easy on/off at I-86, NY17 exit 66. Gas station and truck stop next door.Opens at 6am for breakfast. Always have a great deal listed for a breakfast special. Lunch and dinner specials as well. Closes at 9 pm.Be sure to check their dessert case. Fresh seasonal pies and cakes.
This place is our little best kept secret!. The food is so good, so good in fact that we travel an hour from our home to go to this place! I like the Greek Spinach Pie (Spanakopita) which is truly authentic and the best I have EVER had. The hot open face turkey sandwich is unbeatable! The turkey is always moist and delicious and I always have food to bring home. All the desserts are made on premises and the Cannoli Cake is not to be missed. We usually get it to go home as we are too full to have dessert there. Each piece of cake they give you feeds 2 to 3 people! Not kidding! I dont know what all the prior negative reviews are about, never experienced anything they are talking about. This is our go to place when we want really, really good food! And again, its an hour from home! I hate to even write this good review because I dont want too many people to find out how great it is, its our little secret!
The food was not that good. I ordered a chicken Speedie wrap and it only had about 5 small pieces of chicken in it. And the rest of it was filled with mushrooms and onions. While my main meal was not good. Desserts on the other hand were delicious and giant sized. One dessert feed 3 of us! I would recommend going for dessert but that is it.
Had late lunch, early dinner with Holly and Liz after visiting Phyllis at Riverview Manor. Good was incredible!!! Wife had pot roast special, Liz had a BLT wrap and I had a Chef Salad with a side of spaghetti and sauce. Meals were enough for a second meal all around! Included cup of soup and small loaf of fresh baked bread with each and the price was about $10 per person!! With making two meals it was $5 each!!! Add into that the desserts we took home that were also big enough for two meals and absolutely delicious, it was a great meal deal!! Never been disappointed with any meal there!!! Comfortable seating with adequate room and very friendly service staff, I would highly recommended a meal here anytime!!!
A great place to stop just off the highway ... They have a diverse menu, the food is very good, and the service is excellent. In addition, we recently held a 50th wedding anniversary there and they did not disappoint! Nearly 50 people, all ordering off the menu, and every plate came out at the same time, hot and ready ... and not a single order was wrong. Tremendous job!
I am not sure about what people like quality-wise, but here is a rundown of my experience at the place. Turns out that I asked for haddock au gratin, but the fish was made in the worst way possible and was heated up in the microwave with a different cheese than what is supposed to be and the mashed potatoes seemed like a brick with some sauce on top totally unedible. Then the soup ordered was the seafood soup and it was disgusting the amount of starch put in the soup, so much it was not soup but some sort of super thick stew. That above combination made my night really bad. My friend a similar thing by ordering the same soup and the coconut shrimp which are just heated up from frozen boxes again he had a bad night as well. There is nothing healthy about this restaurant and although people have reviewed this restaurant highly classed it is no more than a cheap-looking style diner that needs tons of updating inside. I do not foresee myself going there again. Users be aware of this area of NY because the restaurants are rated high and these are no better than street food, not all though. If you want something good just go to perkins and see my review of perkins which is next to it.
Wow! This place is busy but Im not sure what people are coming here for. Off to a bad start, the waitress seated others that arrived after us and who didnt bother lining up. Our waitress got our order wrong since she was too busy walking off to appear speedy before we finished speaking. The food was bland, the metal cutlery was so thin it appeared to be stamped from thin sheet metal and the ambience can be regarded as old world diner when people didnt know of any better. Pack a sandwich and keep driving past...
I give a three star rating for the fast service, delicious food including desserts, and a friendly waitress. Two stars deduction for lack of cleanliness and lack of a friendly reception at the entrance. Here are some tips..instruct the employees to keep their hands clean, especially after using the bathroom. Even if having a bad day, all employees and employers should wear a smile. And since you have lots of passersby, make sure they feel welcomed so that they will come again and give a good recommendation of your place. Last but not least, first impressions are important so give your place in the front and outside a nice makeover.
Whenever I visit my mom in Binghamton, we come to Blue dolphin. I love diner food, and this is one of my favorites. the portions are too big, so always plan a take away box. great desserts, but I also take them to go. I love a diner that makes good soup, so theyre great. good brunch, good dinners, whats not to like. When I get to be an old man, this is one of the diners on my route.
We have been loyal customers of the Blue Dolphin for years, but we wont ever spend another dollar in there after tonights experience. We ordered take out (our third time in the past week) ordering food from there. The food has always been decent, and theres not much to choose from in Apalachin, so we eat there frequently. I called once to place our order, and then called back to add another item, and no one took our name or phone number. When my mom arrived 30 minutes later to get the food, they said they were out of the two dinners we had originally ordered, and that they couldnt call us back to let us know because they dont have caller ID. (Uh, seriously? Its 2017. Guess I shouldnt be surprised since I have never been able to locate a menu for their restaurant online.) So, she had to sit there an additional 30 minutes while they prepared our meal. Fine. Mistakes happen. But what was mind blowing to me was that they only took $10 off of the $50+ check. Ive worked in the restaurant business for years and I would never have let the customer walk away unhappy after wasting an hour of their lives. I called myself to speak to the owner and I was definitely upset with the situation, being that it was 8:06 and our kids were still waiting to eat dinner. She was insanely rude, not once apologizing and telling me that she went above and beyond to fix the situation and that no other restaurant in the area would have taken a dollar off of our bill. She spoke over me the entire time, told us not to come back and hung up on me. So we wont. Its a shame because we like to support local businesses, I even had my baby shower there in June, and the waitresses are always very sweet, but any owner who would treat a loyal patron like that doesnt deserve a dime from me.

2021-08-15The boyfriend and I ate there. And we both had specials. I loved them both. He had mussels with linguini and I had chicken with tortelini. Both came out with big portions! Neither of us finished. But took boxes home. And they were great a second time too. We also tried all the soups for the day. Two we ate there and one we took home. We ordered chicken mantra and vegetable soups and took a Greek lemon home. They were all great! I will definitely be eating here again.

2022-04-14The food is tasty and the portion of the plates are big. The staff is really friendly and helpful. In my opinion is the best option to eat in the road to Niagara Falls at a low price considering the high prices of food in the Us

2022-06-04I just love this place with all my heart. Tonight was my grandfathers funeral and we all decided to go to eat after. Nobody was thinking of the time and we showed up 10 minutes to close. They were extremely kind and let us in and served us with friendly faces. Thank you for making what was a hard day for many of us a little bit better. Ive been here about a million times and everything is always delicious. The cheesecake is my absolute favorite desert of all time. We will continue to come here for years to come. 💕

2022-01-25Home cooking style food was delicious, generously portioned and very reasonably priced. There was a nice variety of items on the menu that you cant find in the chain restaurants. All the employees were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very clean and followed all the covid mandates. We much prefer a good local restaurant like this as opposed to the chain restaurants with their boring all the same menus.

2022-04-07I wish they would open a location in Elmira, NY! Its hard to find awesome Greek food here and such an extensive menu. Theres definitely something for everyone on their menu! And, you cant beat their prices for the quantity and quality of food you get.I ordered their lamb souvlaki, which comes with a side of french fries (theyre really good- hot, and crispy on the outside, moist on the inside) or a cup of homemade soup. You can add a side Greek salad for $2 more. Side is in quotes because it was served on a dinner plate, loaded side to side and heaped on! It was a meal on its own! They also have a beer and wine menu. Not a lot to choose from, but good enough, and unusual for a diner. A glass of wine is under $5.I was very, very pleased with the service, portions, prices and quality of my meal. Cant wait to go again!

2022-03-18My wife and I were travelling from Philadelphia to Buffalo. And this is a great halfway stop. We have stoped here a couple of times in the past. The food and service is always great. But the deserts are incredible. When we asked where their. Cakes come from I was told they come from heaven. and I believe it.

2022-04-07Great place to visit. Was in town for a meeting and stayed at the hotel next door. Went in for dinner on Monday night had Jenna for my waitress she was very pleasant and spot on actually made me feel welcome. The food portions are huge! A lot of food had to get a box. Unfortunately I was only in town for that one night. Will go back when I return again.

2022-05-24Its a diner. Lived in the area and have never been here. Bacon omelet was pretty good. Home fries had large half cooked potato chunks mixed in. The cooked parts were ok. Not many other places to get a proper breakfast nearby.

2022-02-24Busy in the afternoon, took some time to be seated, but then once tables were free, sat people quickly. Chicken and biscuits with soup. French onion... Deserts looked great but did not have any on this visit.
