Although the products are great, the customer service was poor. I went it & loved a product & was willing to buy immediately to come to find out that the product was wrongly priced, I ended up not buying this product but I knew I wanted it. After offering a small discount I felt better about the establishment but I went in a second time to purchase the product , they told me it was sold out - which was fine but then I attempted to order online & online the product was ready to be ordered. I was able to check out & all. I went in to tell them of this & they basically just told me I was “SOL” on this particular product. I was offered no incentive or motive to come back to a store I really enjoyed due to the quality of product. Otherwise not a great experience & I hope no one else experiences what I did.
Very nice store BUT............purchased a Toys Mccoy bomber with a defective zipper. Seems Matt and Yuki (sp?) dont stand behind their products. Was informed that I would have to pay shipping to Japan to get it fixed when I have only worn the jacket 6 times. On top of that there were no apologies and they have not gotten back to me as to whether they were able to get in contact with Toys Mccoy about fixing the jacket. I would rate the experience as very disappointing and will be suing them in small claims court.
Though it does sometimes feel like a Kapital outlet and I wish they’d give some other brands a little more room, I love this spot. Everyone is very chill and happy to talk shop if you’re into clothes or materials/fabrics or whatever. On the pricier side, but I think you probably know that, right? The clothes they sell are meant to last - this isn’t a fast fashion destination. Maybe not 100% Japanese brands but pretty damn close
Phenomenal staff and a true gem. Amazing collections and knowledgeable and non pretentious staff this a destination shop for sure. Need recommendations on a similar cut? They got you. Want to try something g new? They got you. Want to get honest advice as a repeat customer on building out your wardrobe d? They got you. Website is up to date w inventory too so if you’re looking for a specific size you can know in an instant if it’s there.
Love this Japanese denim shop! The store gives you a luxurious feel but not in a pressurized way. The denim specialist(staff) there is very friendly and is very professional about Japanese denim regarding brand history, the styles, the fits, and other nuanced knowledge about Japanese denim. They do tag a bit higher price than other Japanese denim online store, but with their wonderful in-store service and the overall experience from walking-in, trying on to checking out(plus, they offer length alteration service) , I would rather keep going for them in the future than purchasing online.
If you are into raw denim or Japanese luxury/craftsmanship brands, this is the place. The selection is amazing, and the employees are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The store has a fun, sophisticated ambience with mid-century modern furniture and a subtle Miles Davis theme (the name is a reference, as well).Almost everything in the store is quite expensive, but well worthwhile, if you are okay with the idea of dropping 200-300 dollars on jeans. They do hem the jeans for free--which is a nice touch, since a lot of Japanese brands only size by width, so you will need to hem them if you are on the shorter side. Also, the store sells wonderful espresso (although not during COVID), so you can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee while you shop.
Love this store, I stopped in several months ago when visiting NY. I cant afford anything in there, but I can dream all day while sipping on a killer espresso shot pulled from their vintage Faema E61 all day. Very friendly and welcoming staff. They have a well curated selection of skillfully crafted clothing and accessories that put them on a different level from other shops in the city. I highly recommend stopping in.
I had been looking for the perfect pair of jeans for ages, and I could never find a slim tapered pair which would fit me comfortably since Im on the smaller side. One of the folks there helped me find exactly what I what I was looking for, and Im glad he helped me pick them out because theyre PERFECT. They also hemmed them.
Great selection. Ryan who helped me out was really knowledgeable and understood what I was looking for. Great selection of Japanese denim. Would definitely recommend this spot to anyone. Also offered immediate hemming since I was coming from out of town. Will definitely be back. Thanks guys!
Great selection from Oni, Pure Blue Japan, Kapital and more. Sad that Real McCoys is gone but BiG moving in to their space has been a long time coming.I purchased a flannel shirt here and about 6 months later had a few standard repairs done on it no questions asked by the staff. Really fantastic shop, tied for best in the city along with Northern Grade.
The best place in the U.S. for Japanese and some American denims. I also bring all of my jeans here for chainstich hemming @$30 a pair. Great staff and tons of cool jeans and little items that you might not find anywhere else (ie samurai thunder soap, full count zippo lighters, B.I.G. exclusives etc)

2022-06-03The premiere denim destination on the east coast. BiG is the place to be to find all the best Japanese denim and more, around. This lofty space in Soho requires door access via the doorbell on the side which brings you into the denim room. With a full wall of stocked shelves from various popular brands in various sizes and styles. Make no mistake though this is all premium denim and that means premium price points. You’ll find brands like Pure Blue Japan, ONI, Samurai, Kapital, Sugarcane, Full Count, PRPS, and much more. But don’t be fooled by this room as the back gallery offers an even larger space with a variety of apparel and accessories to complement your denim purchases. There’s a chill seating area at the back by the sound system with some sale items too. I would definitely not call this place “tiny”.In true boutique fashion, BiG also has a coffee bar in the first showroom but sadly wasn’t in use for some time. As a fan of Counter Culture coffee I was hoping to grab a cup while I shopped. While it’s true you can find much of what’s on display here for less (a jacket I purchased on this trip was actually found elsewhere online for $60 less; standard white tees for almost $40 a piece?!) it is still a fashionable mens mecca worth visiting. The service was great despite it being busy on a Sunday, I had a good talk about denim weight and styles without feeling rushed. The amount of variety not only in brands but styles merits time browsing the racks and shelves. I would easily return whenever I’m back in the city.

2022-04-28Terrible guest service.I went to try on a few different pairs of samurai. The staff could not answer my question of whether the jeans I’m looking at will shrink after wash or not. I kept asking questions to determine my purchase and all I got was short answers that were not helpful. Throughout the entire shopping experience, the staff didn’t ask me what I was looking for, or what they can do accommodate me with. I was gonna buy a pair of Kiwami but was so annoyed I just left.If you like checking out raw denim in the city, go to Self Edge instead of here. They’re so much more helpful there. I will not be coming back to this shop.

2022-07-09Blue in Green has been one of my favorite stores for years with great staff and products…but my last few visits have been so bad that I can’t recommend anyone actually shop here. The new sales associates are surprisingly rude. They used to be people who were both knowledgeable about denim and extra friendly. On my most recent visit, the associate refused to measure both legs for hemming. He told me I could “take my jeans [that I was buying from him] somewhere else.” He made the entire fitting process very uncomfortable. I was going to buy the jeans in spite of him, because they were great and I really wanted them. At the register, he attempted to charge me a different sales tax. I pointed out that was against the law. I asked if he was the manager and he just went into a weird loop of “This is the price. I’m not going to get the manager.” So I left. Sadly, without the jeans.Probably the weirdest and, perhaps, worst sales experience I’ve ever had in a retail store.

2022-04-30Let me start off by saying what a truly refreshing experience I had while visiting Blue in Green ! Stepping off the street and into this unique Japanese Denim store, I was warmly welcomed in and greeted by a few associates. As I took in the amazing denim selection, the associates were quick to point out several styles and brands that fit my criteria. Their product knowledge and insight was so much more than just your typical sales response and it made me feel like they truly enjoyed sharing their pride and expertise of the store. I felt like they were not just trying to make a sale, but were genuinely interested in hearing my thoughts and then helped me with suggestions accordingly.I left very satisfied and am eager to return!Kudos to the staff and management team @ Blue in Green---Having worked in customer service myself for many years, I know a talented and cohesive group of employees can be hard to find, but this staff is truly awesome !

2022-06-22This boutique is it!! If you enjoy being individual and like authenticity this is a necessary option. A must in SoHo and all NYC. since few types of cool business are left to be found in the big apple. The staff is always cool but in the right way- not off putting like other local place can be

2022-08-19Been a great store to shop for years. they have great selections. But this time around with after about 5 minutes of browsing all the sudden there is a bag check policy when people who entered the store before us didn’t have to check bags at all.

2022-04-29Every time i come to big im immediately welcomed in by the most friendly and knowledgeable staff. Not only are they incredibly patient with all my questions and indecisiveness (esp when it comes to denim), but they really give me thorough, educated, and honest answers and opinions which is so rare in retail. It’s a great space and a great experience overall and i always make sure stop in when i’m around!

2022-08-16Been in the store a few times and it was okay, but this past weekend i was met with a discriminatory bag policy. i was already in the store for a few minutes and passed an employee, when i was stopped and told that i needed to put my bag to the front. it was weird because the other times i had been in, this wasn’t the policy. i also passed another employee when i walked in and they didn’t say anything, so clearly this policy isn’t consistent and based on an arbitrary opinion from an employee (especially since the person i was with didn’t have to put their bag in the front). to add to this, they put my bag on the floor with no one really around paying attention to it. this gave me a bad taste in my mouth and seems weird for a store that’s trying to sell $200+ jeans to treat their customers like this.if this is truly their policy, the store should be far more consistent (check the other reviews for people also saying they were singled out), as well as having a dedicated space/system for bag storage (such as the thrift stores that have a bag check area).
