The Blue Note is iconic. Expect to see some great jazz performances while here. Its small enough for an intimate feel but large and well know enough to attract some big names. The down side is that the spot is pretty touristy, which come though in the serve. Get there early to stand in line to ensure a good seat, but expect a wait past the door opening time. Also, its nice to sip on a drink or get a bit a food while listening to the performances, but dont go here for the food or drinks.
Amazing shows for sure. But that should seating arrangement is horrible (sharing tables and sitting next to strangers closer than nyc subways) is quite uncomfortable even for a jazz lover from Tokyo who used to used to tight spaces. I would happily do it again for prof. Carter though.
They packed us in there right, which I didnt love because of the pandemic- but the experience is hard to beat in NYC if you want live Jazz. We went to see Robert Glasper then Dave Chappelle and poet Amir Sulaiman also popped in and performed for us. What a night! The food was decent but the seating was so tight that there wasnt room for our food and drinks on our table, so we ate from our laps until we cleared some plates. If it wasnt for that it would really easily be a 5 star review. So I guess I just wont be eating there when I come back, Ill grab dinner ahead of time.
Top flight jazz club right in the heart of Greenwich Village. First rate talent of headliners and journeyman musicians. Full bar and good food and beverage selection. Intimate tables. Nice bar. Good air conditioning and ventilation systems. A very nice Gift Shop on the second floor.
The music was amazing we came to see Robert Glasper, El debarge jumped onstage as a guest appearance the end of the night.Only complaint is how the seats are together in there is generally a lot of confusion when you order food or a drinkBut as a lover of music the overall experience was still good
Some would say it’s a small, tight venue, but i think that’s exactly what a jazz club should be. Great sound quality for the show we went to see (Robert Glasper, absolutely did an amazing job). Leaving 4 stars because the food wasn’t as tasty as i would have liked. Cocktails were amazing. Expect typical NYC prices as well. Overall lovely time was had
Checked vax card and Id at the door.$1 coat checkWebsite sells bar seating and also table seating, but the tables you are seated with other people on 2 tops out together to make rows of 4 or 6. So expect to make friends with other jazz lovers+1 for the creamy tiramisu
This is the Blue Note. What can you say? It’s the Blue Note! Legends play here weekly as well as amazing new talent that can be jaw dropping. The seating is tight and there can be some blind spots, get there early and get a good view. Order a cocktail and some apps. Don’t eat during the show, respect the musicians.A lot of tourists have been guilty of loudly talking during the set. Give them the evil eye and hopefully they get what they’re doing wrong and stop. If you are a tourist visiting our beautiful city, relax and enjoy the show. LISTEN! This is art. Save your conversations until after the show. You paid to listen and so did a room full of other people. Please be respectful to the other patrons and to the musicians. Or I’ll give you the evil eye or throw an onion ring if you don’t shut up. Don’t waste the apps!
Came for first time to this legendary place and was beyond pleased. We watched Cuban funk band Cimafunk and I have never felt such a high from listening to live music. The space is very intimate and makes for a really intimate connection w the music and the musicians. Best time ever!
Had a very good experience watching Lee Ritenour and his band here in April this year. The place was completely full, and they really stuff people in there. If youre against the wall, theres a good chance you wont be able to move! But we were right in front of the stage and enjoyed every minute. Drinks were not insanely pricey. Very intimate, great acoustics, and very few bad seats. Pleasant staff as well
Legendary, Historic Jazz venue. The elevated stage gives everyone a view of the stage.Tight and comfortable, the wood tables seat 6 people.Ordering seating, you have to take in consideration that you will be sharing a table. The sound is impeccable, clear and conductive, as one can hear and feel the music.I prefer to sit, at the bar. The bar provides more personalized service. Also there is enough room to be comfortable, while eating and drinking. The view from the bar Id alsorecommend.Perfect destination for drop off or other transportation.
It is a great intimate venue with such a rich history of past performers. I recommend standing on line early so you can pick your seating. The seats are fairly tight so you will have an opportunity to make friends very easily. Up to eight people per table. The food is not bad. All in all, an enjoyable experience of great live music!
The music is awesome but they should be ashamed at how they pack people into this location. It’s ridiculous. People are sitting on top of each other. I took a star away because of the discomfort with the seating. I have never been so disappointed as I was with the seating. The food sucks too. Save your money and just order drinks. Close your eyes and listen to the music. You may forget that someone is sitting 6 inches away from you.
Worst jazz bar experience ever in NYC!!! A place to definitely avoid! We found ourselves in a tiny table sharing drinks and food, very close to the stage with literally the artists behind me that I could never properly watch without the cost of turning my neck down. Food was average and pricey. Artists though were quite talented and that’s really unfortunate I couldn’t enjoy their music as much.Last but not least, tickets paid in advance were for a specific band and the band who performed onstage was totally a different one (and obviously the venue didnt make any note of this).Never again I will come to this place and I would suggest any one reading this review to try other less famous but more cosy jazz places in NYC definitely worth being known and with your money valued!!
Went to see GZA from Wu-Tang perform! Very cool ambiance inside. A little small, and plus they have figured out some way to fit a hundred people in there. I got a little claustrophobic once the show started. Ordering of food and drinks is through your smart phone, with a QR code, so make sure your phones camera works. They offer conventional ordering too. A little pricey, but what do you expect? Its NYC!! Overall had a great time!
This venue certainly earned its well earned lore, its stunning success in creating a personalized environment to enjoy some fantastic talent. I personally saw Cory Henry here and was plain and simple amazed. The smaller space made it feel like he was playing directly for my friends and I. I highly recommend The Blue Note for those who want a memorable experience.
ZERO STARS - WOULD NOT LET US INSIDE TO HIDE FROM SUSPECTED ACTIVE SHOOTERJune 26, 2022 during pride celebrations, around 8pm what was thought to be gunshots but turned out to be fireworks, caused a HUGE stampede out of Washington Square Park. My friends and I were terrified so we ran and ducked into the inner foyer area to hide with some other groups of people until we knew we were safe. Two men working at the Blue Note came out to tell us we could not stand there, but we explained that there was a potential active shooter on the street and we were seeking safety. One man was an older black man with a deep voice and the other was a younger lighter skin black man. The younger one went to the exterior doors and was told by pedestrians (who were also running away) that there was an active shooter. So he closes the glass doors and watches the street. The older black man had absolutely no sympathy for the situation. He continued to tell us that we needed to leave, we could not come inside the establishment for safety unless we paid $30/person, and told us Then well just die when another girl asked what we were supposed to do. The situation was incredibly traumatic and this man was quite literally laughing in our faces. I was shaking and on the verge of tears the entire time as this was only my first week in New York and I thought I was going to die. Thank you to the younger man who worked there who was much kinder, it was clear that he was not in charge and could not let us in but he didnt tell us to leave. To the older black man who laughed in our faces when we asked to come inside for a few minutes to hide from what we thought was an active shooter, Im not religious but with the karma coming your way, Im going to pray for you b/c you must not know what youve done.
We had a terrible experience here. They pack people like sardines; 4 people share a small 2-people tables. Even before covid-times this is unacceptable. You have to physically touch to strangers in your seat. The manager was not accommodating at all, had a mean attitude. Finally, they did not want to refund our tickets. We left within 10 minutes. If there were less than 1 stars that would still be generous for this establishment.
Great Show! Ron Carter quartet gave a great performance! Little tip, the best seats are aisle tables directly across from center stage, not tables up against stage. We sat against stage and it was great but can get better veiw and pics from farther seats as place isnt very bigFood & drinks were great and se5vice was pretty quick. Definitely worth a visit! Another top come early, tables are 1st come. Enjoy!
Jazzy night in the GREATEST CITY IN THE WORLD .....as David Letterman used to start his show , always loved those answers. !! The Blue Note is epic in NYC . Been around long time...met BB King there once. I was only 18 ! My friend bartender there. Sexy , fun , classy, sassy n ♥️ NYC nightlife for a change. No hot heat to beat ....and its exclusive. Small n intimate is fine , baybeeeee. Lets go go go.
I do not know how this place has these good reviews. Maybe in the past but now I wish I got a refund. Not only I paid 100$ for it, but it was an extremely unpleasant experience because of the manager at the door. I’ve came a long time ago, and the place was really good. The new management team looks extremely bad. Not only they make you pay these prices (when this is supposed to be “a place for everyone” to enjoy good old jazz music). The service is trurly horrible, plus there wasn’t much people and they were extremely rude the staff. Never coming back AGAIN EVER
Very disappointed! We pre-purchased 2 tix for $35/each and as we arrived, theres literally no seats for us and they tried to squeeze us with other group of people. Its basically table for 6 which they add 2 chairs on the corner of the tables. Im a small person and wont be able to sit there let alone my partner. We walked out the venue. A complete tourist trap!! Go elsewhere!. We walked around the area and found other amazing jazz bar with $10 cover charge, a table & seat and wonderful cocktail.
Book the table seating and come early or dont visit at all. I made the mistake and booked for the bar area. Although we were right at the front of the bar area, this was still too far from the stage and too close to the too often opening door. Experience was horrible as we were stacked in a really small space hearing the bar sounds much more than the performance. They have a screen where you can supposedly see the stage but even this is poor quality. Had high hopes for such a historic place and didnt expect the rip off attitude.
A young doorman working in this place is very rude and does not belong to this type of place. Unless, I am very mistaken and this is a standard local bar with a touch of music. The manager working on Thursday January 27th was not much of help, neither. I did not have reservation, but it is NATURAL that I want to purchase a ticket.Otherwise, since I come there twice a month 5 starts should go to the waitresses, bartender, and a middle age man that is usually greeting people by the door. The performers are great. The owners and managers of this place should make sure that clients are treated with respect otherwise this will indeed become a place only for tourists that what to check off one more bar with life music.Even if some New Yorkers allow for being disrespected, I will take my money to Cocacola Dizzy Club at Lincoln Center and other places.America is NOT a Communist country yet and the workers in any place are to accommodate and work with clients that bring MONEY. I a standard Communist country the workers behave like they OWN a place where they work and do a favorite to clients. WE are not there yet, although we are definitely going in this direction.
Wow, last night we witnessed two absolutely amazing drummers and a fading hack expressing political views like a coward. Of course at the end of his set, so people paying for music would not be subject to foul mouthed rhetoric which we are all tired of hearing from little soap boxes. Al, we paid for music. Please be kinder to your audience and keep the politics out. Or express your politics before you start so people who are not devisive can get their money back and leave. What a disappointment.
Completely ridiculous. Crammed in so tight, sitting six adults at a table for 2. Are we completely oblivious to the current health crisis? Why is my server wearing a mask yet I’m shoulder to shoulder with two strangers? Feels like a slap in the face honestly. How can I enjoy any kind of live music like this
My friends and I went here for a Robert Glasper concert and the experience was lack luster to say the least. Robert was amazing, but the venue was packed to capacity, which isn’t safe post Covid and in general. You couldn’t MOVE in there, like AT ALL. A sold out event shouldn’t be happening in 2021.
2 stars for the food, 4 stars for the vibes🙌🏾this place is a legacy of course. They had this Bermuda fish chowder that has the wrong ingredients and doesnt even look like our fish chowder. I had a chicken Caesar and the chicken, well, it wasnt caesaring. I liked the way to order though through an app. We had great waitress who helped me because the wifi wasnt working for me to order. A great vibe overall. The band I came for tore it up, of course!🥰
As always the blue club is a happening vibe the place was packed and savion Glovers performance was superb he also had a saxophonist with you who added an enormous dimension clover not only sang but took a alternative drums. The food was terrific and the waitress service was superb
Great audience. Mostly connaisseurs. Good food and drinks.Programmation sometimes too “progressive” for my taste, but always good.Seating appallingly tight, and, although they claim “no table reservation” they keep the front tables for family and friends, and they have many of them. So do not expect a front row table if you are not part of the VIP circle. As this is a jazz landmark, one must be able to say “been there, done that, got the t-shirt”.
Dear tourists - you can do better in NYC, I promise you.And you dont have to give up your dignity. This place has ceased to be a Jazz Club decades ago - its a TImes Square style sardine can tourist fleecing mafia racket - cram them in way over capacity and process them. You really think the brochure stand at your hotel lobby has anything authentic?
I had a wonderful time at this place! We came in town for my dads birthday and picked this spot because he’s a jazz lover. Every moment was perfect from the artist performing Robert Glasper to the surprise guest performance by trumpeter Keyon Harrold and legendary Dave Chappelle!
We came here on a Sunday for a 10:30 pm Robert Glasper show. We arrived around 9:30, doors didnt open until close to 11pm. Be prepared for a very tight space if you have table seating. I honestly dont see how people are able to eat as it is that tight. The show itself was wonderful.
Great legendary jazz experience, it is quite pricey for the entry fee. But if there is an interesting lineup artist (e.g. Chris Botti). I think it is quite worth it for a good experience up close. In case we just want to check out the club real quick, we could request the security to go check out their souvenir store on the 2nd floor is also okay as well.
The Blue Note Jazz Club is one of New Yorks great jazz clubs, always showcasing some of the greatest music jazz has to offer. Over the years visiting New York, Ive had some great musical experiences here. It is also worth checking out their late night sets featuring lesser known musicians. The tickets at cheaper at the bar than at the tables. The tables are closer to the scene, and you dont have to eat at Theres a gift shop in the second floor, and the people working here are great.
I recommend you go here strictly for the entertainment and drinks. The food was not up to par in my opinion and the prices were steep. As far as the entertainment goes the live music was really good. The place is cramp and fills up quick so I suggest you get there early. Overall this place is good for the music and drinks otherwise I wouldn’t just eat there.
Its very uncomfortably packed even for normal times, but during the Omicron surge which already got me, I felt so anxious from the tight seats that I decided against having any food or beverage to avoid taking off my mask. My friend wanted a drink but had a hard time getting anyones attention. I tried doing the online ordering. The QR code didnt work on my phone, kept asking me to download an app. The sound is very good and the music is great. Five stars for the music, but one star off for the seating arrangements, and one off for the way food ordering is done.
Absolutely loved all the performances Ive seen here at this club. The energy of the performers and even the people have always been super great. The live mix and acoustics of the room are great compared to other jazz clubs Ive been to in the area. I recommend buying the table seat and lining up early. Its not hard to get a good table seat if you come early. The bar seats on the other hand seem to be next to the doorway, which is very far from the stage.Ive always so engaged by the music and it always feels like the set flies by so quickly. I also love how frequent guest artists appear on stage. Its a treat, but its not something you can expect at every show either. My only complaint is how expensive the food is for the quality. Guests are required to order a menu item, but Id recommend just sticking to a basic drink. The food isnt particularly great and the drinks arent bad but arent outstanding either.
The shows very good and its worth the visit. Especially because of the musicians collaborating with Chris Botti, they were really really AMAZING. Sometimes they were eclipsed by the trumpet and I would have let them play more and hide the trumpet a bit.The sound was good but the trumpet was very loud and with too much reverb, for my taste. The food was ok.However, giving a 4 due to the uncomfortable sitting. 8 people in those little tables its not something that I would expect for that price. Additionally, in the covid times, I really doubt sitting so close to the others for dining its safe.
This is one of the most popular attractions in New York, but hey! Listen to this: You cannot dance there! And if you get bar tickets (where I thought you could dance) you have to stand up in a really awkward part of the bar, you can barely see the musicians. So DEFINITELY get table tickets, but it is a more chill kinda of bar. I thought I was going to a super fun concert… but it is just a jazz club, not my favorite experience.
Saw Chris Botti, trumpeter, and his band tonight. He brought along several guest performers and the whole gig was hot. Great crowd, atmosphere was energetic and upbeat, left you dancing and pumped up. We like to eat there late- Chef runs out of snapper, bread not served with ravioli, waitress doesnt ask if you want coffee or dessert afterwards. They could make more of an effort here.
We had a wonderful time at the Blue Note. Great food and friendly staff made the evening so special. I love the fact that this intimate club makes it feel like you’re part of the band. We were so fortunate to see a legendary band, Spyro Gyra. Man, those guys have phenomenal skills. Love their music in a great setting!
Door man gave us grief that one of our party is in a wheelchair. Eventually a ramp was found to get up the entry step. Then the manager placed in the seats farthest from the stage even though there were plenty of unoccupied seats closer. Too bad the staff seemed putout that someone arrived with a disability.
Great venue, but you might wanna avoid sitting nearby the piano as the seats are very close to the bar. It gets a bit noisy at the start even though all the employees are very nice and trying hard not to make unnecessary noises. But Blue Note is one of my favourite jazz venue for sure!
Not a jazz aficionado but at this place you dont need to be... these are professionals that play straight from the heart and you can feel it in your own. Amazing experience, worth every penny. The food isnt bad and the service is discreet and prompt, I would definitely visit again and recommend it to anyone who appreciates live music.
Love this place been there quite a few times.the only thing is when ur enjoyin ur moment the waitress comes around and ur like dang miss can u kinda wait just a few its gettin good oh yeah and the space is so limited...i guess when its great quality u gotta compromise ur space just a lil.waitin on the next show to catch my eye....one more thing the food is good but not enough on the plate.please work on more quality people be hungry not always thirsty🤔😊😲🤓
This is a favorite of mine. Been going here for more than 15 years. What people should know when they come is that this venue is tabled and when you make a reservation for a table you pay the ticket for the show as well as your dinner/drinks all on the check at the end. Additionally the table seating is close quarters and youll be sitting with other people. I say all this because sometimes encounter people who arent familiar with how things work. Recently I went to a show here and there were people who kept trying to put their bags and coats on all the seats instead of using coat check. Its a crowded venue and the servers need to get by, all the seats will get taken so you cant just come in here and spread yourself out. The servers are always great. The food is good here. For appetizers I like the crab cake! The shrimp is also good. Flourless chocolate cake is the best dessert here.
We didnt buy tickets ahead but were able to get in and get a good table. The club has a great vibe and we loved the band. The alcohol and food is not super cheap but not super expensive as well. The table sitting is 35 per person and there is 5 dollar minimum, in my opinion the live music and the great performers worth it.
Great venue for live performances right I. The heart of the village. Small and intimate - Ive seen a few performers here. Most recently I saw Roy Ayers who was dynamite man!!! Always check their site for upcoming performances. You love music, youll love this venue. Staff is very professional, bartenders are top class!!
Is this the house of Jazz...maybe in the past.Is it worth the visit NO.Despite the heavy price paid for a table they will put you in tiny table for six where also in four you woukd have been narrow and under the policy first come first served. It means you will need to arrive at least 2 hours prior the show if you want to have a decent place.Food it is limited and quite of poor quality.Staff its pretty basically trained and the service is below the average.Honestly it has become just a tourist attraction. You may have far better experience in different concerts, same artist, better enviroment.
Iconic Jazz Club. It is very tight seating but comfortable enough for dinner and show. Service was attentive and on point and the food was cooked well and flavorful. We had a cheese and fruit plate and calamari, which was crispy and cooked perfectly. I also had a Caesar Salad with chicken and it was very good. The show was Robbie Coltrane and was fabulous.
The world famous jazz club in the West Village! Its expensive but worth it, as the club is very intimate. Its always open and many jazz greats and some up and coming stars, like Matthew Whitaker who we saw tonight hit the stage. They have cheaper bar seats by the front door on a first come first served basis. Great sound system and good service. Food is also pricey but decent. Make use to go upstairs and use the bathroom before the show starts, because you will be in tight quarters!
First time today at the legendary Blue Note. I had a blast! It is kind of small but cozy and relaxing vibe. The feat. artist was Yko Ito Quintet feat. Romero Lubambo The hostness was really nice. The only think was our food came really late toward the end of the show and the people sitting next to me got the wrong order twice. I think our waitress was having a really bad day. I dont know. We all have those some times. But overall will be coming back again to get my jazz on! 🙂🙌🎹🎷🎶🎤🎺❤.
This is a tourist place. Very expensive and even if you buy the ticket for the musician they dont reserve a table. The artist are always good. The food expensive but lack of quality.I think you have to really like the artist to go. Otherwise you will feel that you paid a lot for nothing.
One of a kind experience, intimate, energizing, you can feel the Jazz history there. Drinks and snacks arent cheap but decent. Also go early since the line does get long so its first come first serve to get the better positiomed table near the stage. Great venue for those musically inclined!
They get some first rate musicians in here. Service is friendly and efficient. Sight lines can vary greatly. If its your first time, you might be surprised how close the seats are. (I dont think they realize just how much space the average American takes up nowadays!)
Went to see Arturo Sandoval he was fantastic first time I reserved a table I usually stand at the bar. But a bit pricey at $55.00 per person just to sit. Sound is still excellent in the Blue Note . But overall it is worth it when you come out with a big smile on your face from the preformance.
Nice, intimate venue for jazz concerts. I was seated close to the stage but the music didnt feel overwhelmingly loud. I liked that you order and pay through an app to reduce contact but I know the people at my table had some issues. Space is tight so if youre worried about covid, I wouldnt go unless you plan to keep an n95 on the entire time. Seating is up to the hostess. Bathrooms are upstairs so I dont know if they have an accessible one on the ground floor (you would have to call and ask).
On the ticket show was scheduled to start at 8pmWe entered the club @ 6:30pmPlace a food order that we didnt receive until 8pm and it was wrong. The show started @ 8:30pmThe service was horrible....The place was covid tight. Meaning that even though they requested that proof of vaccination was shown, and masks were required after eating many patrons didnt adhere to their request. The club didnt enforce anything. The seating of the patrons were extremely tight and close together...I felt uncomfortable.I would not recommend this venue....It was horrible
We booked the Blue Note Jazz Club, very excited for our first live jazz experience. The website said the doors would open at 9:30, but they didn’t open until 10:15. Then, we go in and we are packed 8 to a table, with strangers in the middle of a pandemic (& the other tables around us are right on top of us). You are not able to get up without squeezing and having several people move their chairs. We went in with open minds, but the initial impressions are not welcoming for new people and wanting to see live jazz
Blue Note Jazz Club is a intimate venue with comfortable surroundings, great service and delicious food. I was seated on an upper level almost as far away from the stage as you can get, yet I was close enough to have a fantastic uninterrupted view of the performers.Due to covid, food and drink orders are taken through on line ordering app but our order arrived at our table without error and piping hot. The cheese and fruit plate made for a nice appetizer and we ordered Steak and Vegetables, Chicken Ceaser salad, the Hamburger and the Chicken sandwich both served with fries. Everything was flavorful and the steak was cooked to a perfect medium. We had a very enjoyable experience and I look forward to going back to next time Im in NYC.
Big name acts and the worst attitude in NY. Ive been to every jazz club in the city, some often, and I always groan when I come here. Service is terrible, obnoxious, lots of petty rules, over priced, packed to the rafters, etc. Etc. But some musicians only play here and you have to bear it if you want to hear them.
The musicians playing there are great. Would give them five stars if it was just for them but my issue is with the venue. The event went fairly well, my boyfriend and I arrived an hour before the show started and the place was already packed. If you’re at all concerned about Covid, would not recommend. Everyone sat very close to each other, multiple different parties seated at the same tables only inches away. You can order food by using the QR code and it takes you to a platform called TabbedOut which basically is a contactless ordering system which shows you the menu and you can place your order on it and your food/drinks will come out. We thought this was cool, filled in my contact like phone number, email, cc info and placed our orders. At the end of the event, the server automatically closed out our tab but I did not receive any kind of electronic or physical receipt which I thought was very strange. A couple of days later I noticed that I got charged a much higher amount on my credit card so I calculated the cost of the food and drinks we ordered I noticed that the venue tipped themselves 40%!!! I just think it’s super shady for a business not to be transparent and not provide any kind of documentation when they go ahead and charge that much.
Almost 90% people don’t wear masks inside the club. There’s zero social distance as well. I am sorry for my daughter because the waitress even spilled the water on her clothes. I am not sure how it happened. Maybe it’s too difficult to manage the crowd! The show was good but I don’t think I will return to see any show soon.
This place is iconic! Definitely should be considered for historical status. I just saw the digable planets show here , and the size of the venue is small and intimate. Sound system is amazing. Pre covid I saw a great band here. It’s really one of my favorite places in ny! Super cool! So glad they survived the lockdown.
Went to see Joao Bosco & Band on 5/20/18. Bossa Nova jazz at its best. Music was awesome, caught most of the show at 8:30pm. Loved the bands rhythm and beat.Took off a point for very small, brownstone-width venue, packed to the gills. Bar seated 12. Drinks $15+. It was pricey...$30/head to stand by the bar, which was a tad better than standing outside.Get there EARLY to get a spot where you can see the performance.
Just saw a show there with the Roy Hargrove quintet. Their music was wonderful to my inexperienced ears-dynamic, lyrical, and exciting. This was the third live jazz performance I’d been to and also my favorite one. I ordered the lemon sparkler (with lemoncello, st germain, prosecco and line) and my friend had a drink with elderflower. Both were good. I arrived at the venue around 7:15pm for the 8pm show and it was already 90% full. Since I made a reservation online it was no big deal and we were seated right next to the stage. The seats were tiny and we struggled getting in and out. But it was still a great experience.
A classic Jazz Club. We saw Chris Botti during his 15th annual Christmas run and he and the assembled musicians put on an excellent show. It was almost two hours of high energy, and unique compositions with Chris’ trumpet, alto sax, electric violin, electric guitar, bass, drums and piano.
An institution, but pricey. Dinner, show, and drinks for two, can easily set you back $200.There are an increasing number of genre bending, and non-jazz acts. Im not a jazz purist, so I believe this is a good thing. Ive seen Sarah Vaughn and the Digable Planets at this same venue!
The Ron Carter quartetWas the BOMB CHEESEWhich in Seattle terms MEANSTHE BEST on the east coast Manhattan NYC.....🎷🎼🎵Sooooo smooth 💓HAPPY BIRTHDAYMR. CARTERAnd thank you so muchMr. Green🎼🎷💓🎷🎼 the Ivorys made my mouth water and drums were Soo smoothOh yes... And by the way the filet mingon was very very top notch 🌉🤗🏙️
Should ask for and check at the gate vaccination record (like the comedy club across the street) before packing people in such cramped quarters with limited ventilation. Shows are always over-subscribed anyway so there would not be any customer / revenue loss; if anything, more people would feel comfortable to come. Love the place and been there many times so take this simply as constructive criticism rather than anything else.Update (Aug 13): Got an email from BN indicating they will be asking for proof of vaccination from all customers, staff and musicians who enter the venue as of today.Bravo... Will be back soon
Always a great place. Saw Joel Ross and Chick Corea there and plan to see many many more. Very intimate place. Tables are shared with other guests but thats kind of cool because you get to chat with strangers (a very un-NYC trait) before the show. The French Onion soup is top tier too.
So i had read other reviews complaining about the food and that you are packed at tables. True. I dont go here for the food just like i dont go to the gas station for my coffee. Yes its packed. You are in Manhattan. I was fortunate enough to see the Scofield Trio. They where great.

2022-06-22Get here early for your 8pm show if you want a table. Arrived at doors (6pm) and had the an amazing seat. Although some seat were reserved, ticket master did not offer any reserved seating... It may have been sold out. The show acoustics were fantastic, I have spent many drunken nights across the street and did not know this gem existed. I grabbed a burger which was fantastic and a couple of drinks. I the drinks are a bit pricey but its a club so its not the place to try and tie one on. Our server was also amazing I was so caught up in the atmosphere I forgot to get their name. Overall a great experience, regardless of musical preference definitely stop by the blue note.... Shout out to Jose James for a killer show

2022-01-11This was my first time visiting this jazz club and I loved it! I sat right in front and watch Chris Botti perform and it was awesome. We only tried their calamari and drinks, but everything was good and our waitresses were all very nice. I’d definitely like to return when the pandemic ends; the seating was a little too close for comfort even though you have to show your vax card and ID before you come in. Still a great time, I highly recommend!

2022-05-20Finally made it to the iconic Blue Note Jazz Club! I recommend getting a reservation as this place gets packed out quickly and you may not have much luck waiting in the standby line. We didn’t eat but the food looks great. We caught DJ Logic who is “widely credited for introducing jazz into the hip-hop realms” and he did not disappoint. It was a 6 piece set with keys, sax, bass, guitar, drums, and DJ Logic orchestrating it all.

2022-06-22One of my favorite venues in the NYC area. This place is absolutely legendary. The food and cocktails are pretty expensive. Portions are kind of small but the cocktails are really good. The service isn’t always the greatest but the atmosphere in the venue and event selection is always worth the time and money to go there. You will not see live music likeThis anywhere else. This is a very special venue that I have a lot of good memories in.

2022-02-28A fabulous historic live music venue that is both atmospheric and intimate. We found the door staff to be a little rude but waitress staff were lovely. Had a table by stage and Butcher Brown were superb. A great venue for music in NYC.

2022-06-04My favorite Jazz bar in NYC. Every concert is unforgettable, every artist that plays here is either already an established great in the jazz scene, or an emergent talent that youll be able to experience before the rest of the world catches on to them. A must stop for any jazz fan visiting NYC

2022-05-15Went to Blue Note for my Birthday. Host was amazing and attentive. Their signature Blue Martini was good! We ordered The fried calamari which I felt was undercooked because the outside was not crunchy. As an entrée I ordered the pork loin which was very bland and overpriced. The place was sold out so it was very crowded and the band was really good. However we got there for 6 PM to have an appetizer cocktails and dinner and the band was to start at 8 PM however they did not start until 8:35 PM which I find inexcusable. Blue Note had a 10:30 PM show which means you had to be out probably by 10 PM so they can set up for the next set of guests . I don’t feel it was worth the money because the food is not that great and the show did not start on time even though they were really good . I traveled out of state for this and most likely will not do it again. I do understand that not everything can start on time but at the same time I don’t understand how you can take my money in a timely fashion, however, your performers and your place cannot start timely. If you are going to theBlue Note in New York City purely for the music then I would say it’s worth it. As far as food is concerned, I will stick to cocktails and an appetizer.

2021-12-15Such a great place to see and hear some of the best jazz musicians. Intimate and the acoustics are perfect. Tables are squeezed together...to tight for me, but the vibe is fantastic. Doors open 2 hours before showtime so can get something to eat from their eclectic menu. Great drinks 🍸 too!
