To me, it was quite disappointing. We dined at Blue Ribbon in Miami a couple of years ago and had an amazing experience there. Blue ribbon New York has similar fried chicken wings and they were cooked well. However the sushi/sashimi platter with $48 value didn’t impress me at all. Furthermore, there was an absence fatty tuna or eel or any higher end fish. The $15 shrimp tempura roll only had four pieces. It is definitely not a restaurant with great value, nor a great place with outstanding food.
I figured the food would be good but I was blown away by the buttery consistency and flavor of the sashimi. The Kale salad was absolutely delicious. The place was filled with a youngish trendy crowd not stodgy businessmen as another review indicated. I didnt think it was expensive you definitely get more than your moneys worth. Treat yourself to the best fish in Manhattan.
We spend half our year in Tokyo and we are always looking for places where the food reminds us of the real tastes of Japan. This place does it and is now a regular on our rotation. From the outside it doesn’t look like much.On the inside it is very cozy. Nothing pretentious here.Excellent service and reasonable pricing.Whatever you do save room for the Green Tea Cremé Brûlée. I could a meal of that alone.
This place was a disappointment. For the price I thought the food would be super good but it’s not worth it.The server was super kind and the place looks nice but the food wasn’t worth it in my opinion. The chicken had no flavor, the sauce was the one providing all the flavor but it also wasn’t the best. The sushi was… I had better. The atmosphere is nice and beautiful and staff is super kind
Posting on the 58th street location not the original in SOHO on Sullivan. Came here because I was in midtown and surprisingly had one of the most memorable sushi experiences. The omakase came with a baby baracuda which they sashimi’d and put the rest around a skewer, best presentation ever!
A hidden gem! The hotel bar at the front leads to a long line of booth type seats then into a larger dining area. Sushi was SUPERB by any standard, and generous portions. Some of the best Sushi in recent memory. And this opinion was shared by all 8 in our group! Moderate pricing for a hotel location.
To be honest, the taste is sooo ordinary but the price is far way expensive. Not worth the price at all!! The taste is plain and the portion is tiny small. Just so disappointed. In addition, its unbelievable that they dont do refill of the fountain drink. They give a full glass of ice and couple drops of drinks.Ill for sure not go back and not recommend it to anyone
I had a horrible experience here. The service was incredibly slow and the waiter got our order wrong multiple times. We also ordered the umasaki, and were incredibly underwhelmed and both the quality and quantity of food we received. For 125 dollars per person for 6 people, I felt absolutely scammed out of my money. Never attend this horrible location.
Food was pretty good. Sushi was rolled a bit too loose that some fell out. But the fish was super fresh and delicious. Also recommend the deep fried chicken. Clam miso soup was on the saltier side.Service was friendly, but seemed a bit rush. Don’t blame them as it was a super packed night.
We came here for a late dinner after a show at Lincoln center. It’s nice to find good quality restaurants open late on a Monday. They ran out of the spicy Ox tail ramen so we went with their special of the day which was a soba noodle with duck broth. It was tasty (but I personally dislike buckwheat noodles). Octopus was very chewy and sinewy - must have harvested a grandfather octopus - shouldn’t the experienced sushi chef notice while slicing it?! Our waitstaff was very nice and attentive. The front hostess was bending down behind her stand and took a while to notice we were standing there. Also - she needed some more proper uniform for her job instead of a sweater. (See pictures)
Great dining experience! The food is excellent, the drinks are great, and there is a huge selection. It took us a long time to narrow down what we wanted - everything looked so good! The service was awesome, super knowledgeable and helpful with any questions we had. Would absolutely go back!
Decor, ambience, good food. Recommended dish, oxtail fried rice, sushi platters and rolls, and fried chicken. Menu slightly on the pricer side at “$$$”. Good selection of sakes and other liquor. Warning, no cell service in the seating area. Seating by sushi chef is a fun experience.
It was good, not great. Went for a dinner date with the wife and ordered octopus appetizer (sunomono) which was good but again...not great compared to some of the other higher end Japanese restaurants. The sushi and sashimi platter was very fresh however for the price and size, it was ok. For main course we ordered some oxtail fried rice and was pleasantly surprised. The size was very large compared to the other items. Very tasty and fatty. Prolly the best thing we ate here. Price wise....it was pricey but not as pricey as I expected. Very affordable for midtown.
I had the unagi don and my Boyfriend had the chicken teriyaki. It was plated beautifully. The few negatives I have are as follows: the constant interruptions in my dinner date. Every two seconds a different waiter would come and ask us if everything was alright. Our cups of green tea were never empty, which would be awesome if this was a bottomless brunch situation, but it was like every time I took a sip a waiter would refill my glass while stretching over my food at one point he practically had the kettle in my miso soup. Not very satisfying. The food was good though.
This is a good fund around the Central Park. A little on the expensive side (Id put it as at least $$$ rather than $$) but, what the hell... Central Park for crying out loud.We ordered a number of rolls we dont normally order. Some are somewhat exotic combo... On the side we ordered oxtail fried rice with bone marrow omelet. Fantastic stuff. The house unfiltered sake is also top notch.
I sat on their sushi bar last night and I saw sth that I can never put up with, especially in a sushi place. The sushi chefs directly touched paper receipts with their hands in the middle of making sushi and put receipts directly ON THE SUSHI. Waiters then took away the receipts and served the sushi to tables. ZERO tolerance. Even the cheapest sushi bar should not be doing that. And they did that like routine. Those sushi plates covered by receipts just sat in front of the customers sitting on the sushi bar. I dont know what those customers were thinking looking at this. The chefs just didnt care.
Who knew a Japanese restaurant would have one of the best fried chickens around? I was pleasantly surprised find this out on my last visit to Blue Ribbon - a decent sized and relatively authentic looking spot reachable through the lobby of the hotel its nestled in a stones throw from the Colombus Circle. On top of the fried chicken (which you should absolutely enjoy with a healthy helping of the wasabi honey dip) we got the chance to enjoy a couple of different dishes with the Salmon tartare and the grilled avocado shining the most.Ill definitely be back.
Is this place a joke sushi restaurant for the other one on the lower East side? I got the Maki combo and all 3 rolls fell apart before I grabbed them. I would have taken pictures earlier in the mean except my sugar was low and I had to eat. The best part of the meal was the ginger.UPDATE:I showed the pictures to the manager when I was leaving and he apologized immediately and made gracious accommodations in good faith- I will try them again. Until I try them again this review will stand.
This is an incredible sushi location. Very convenient close to Central Park and time warner center with all its amazing shopping stores.. they even had the Zacapas top shelf rum I absolutely love which is so rare! The sushi and food itself was absolutely incredible! Their green tea crème brûlée was to die for!!
This place is a gem hidden inside a hotel but it’s by no means your typical hotel eatery! The fish is super fresh, and is of superb quality to satisfy the most gourmet sushi and sashimi lovers. I live in the area and this is by far my favorite go-to Japanese cuisine spot, and I have tried at least a dozen nearby alternatives. The rolls (maki) list is not the most exhaustive and creative in my view, but the Dragon roll is delicious and melts in your mouth. However you get an awesome deal when ordering their sushi or sashimi platters. My favorite one is Sashimi deluxe - the presentation is as top notch as the flavor... highly recommended! The waiters are attentive and the chefs seem very professional. My only complaint is that they don’t take reservations online or through Opentable, but even on the busiest nights I never had to wait for more than 30 minutes for a table for two, and they do have a cozy bar to grab a drink or two to kill the time. It’s also worth noting that there’s no cell reception inside the restaurant which is actually great if you want to focus on your companion and not on your screen :) All in all, five stars for the food and atmosphere!
Blue Ribbon Sushi is just so fresh and good. This location doesnt have that authentic feel like the village location, but its swanky enough to be fun.Get the omakase if you really want to be wowed by the fish.My only real gripe is the drinks are small and weak, even if they are tasty.
A very good hidden Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood!! After I found it I dont wanna go to any other Japanese restaurant!! Try all the menu, taste all the different dishes ... Youll enjoy food from the moment you see it till the end!! Its beautifully served and absolutely delicious!!! You can have a table or sit by the counter and watch them preparing the food... Counter is an amazing experience... You can realize how much effort and care they put in each piece you eat!!!
Opened late on Sunday night.. Sushi was fine. Rice just at right temp. Fish well cut, top grade, fantastic. Roll was unimpressive. Salmon tartar very nice, well seasoned. The fried chicken with Wasabi and honey was the disappointment of the evening, but then again who orders fried chicken at a top sushi joint?? lol. Staff courteous and helpful. We will return.
The food was wonderful and the service was great; the prices are a bit steep, though. The rolls were only like 4 pieces and we ended up ordering double what we originally ordered because the portions were so small. It’s in the interior of a hotel which made it somewhat hard to find, and there were really no windows or anything so it was a bit dark… otherwise really great. Just a bit pricey.
I absolutely do not recommend this place. When you enter they require the physical proof that you were vaccinated. if not you have it. then you cant enter. I am on vacation in New York and you can enter everywhere without problem and here you absolutely cannot enter. Whats wrong with these people...
Quite disappointing. I got the omakase platter and it was barely 10 pieces of sushi and 10 pieces of sashimi, for 100$(!). A similar non omakase platter is proposed for 50$. I would have expected to have a more varied experience such as what is done at standard omakase restaurants (multiple courses). Fish was good but definitely not worth it at all.
Experience was great! Excellent service and delicious sushi rolls. However, Im a bit dissatisfied about the quantity and size of each roll. The flavors were accented correctly, but could use more substance, especially at the high prices they charge for such small rolls. Id like to see more abundance for a $200 bill.
Had an amazing date here in late November. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant had a quiet, romantic vibe to it. We ordered a rainbow roll and a sashimi deluxe platter. The fish was incredibly fresh and it was easily the best yellowtail tuna I’ve had in Manhattan. The sparkling water was great too. I look forward to future visits.
The service started off pretty disappointing but got better throughout the meal and ended on a high note. The entrance was too warm for the summer but the main dining area had good AC. We had sushi, fish, maki and everything was pretty good. I was hosting some Japanese that wanted the comfort of Japanese food but some local beers, but was disappointed to find they did not have any local/NY/American beers. They should expand their beer menu to have some local beers. Sushi was pretty good, soft and flavorful, and the fish was appropriately marinated and cooked, not drowned in sauces. Slightly on the pricey side but overall decor and quality of food and cooking justifies the cost.
Fantastic sushi and atmosphere! Located inside a hotel lobby with a sleek, modern design. Eating at Blue Ribbon was a special treat; the sushi was extremely fresh and well prepared, the beef dish I had literally melted in my mouth full of myriad of flavors. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. I finished off the meal with a tasty mochi which was also very good, albeit a bit expensive, but it included hot green tea that just hit the spot. I can say with confidence this was one of the best meals I’ve had in NY so far!
Excellent!!! We went on a Sunday evening at 7:30 PM and it was packed. The host was able to get us seats at the sushi bar. We started our dinner with a house salad followed with shrimp dumplings, grilled avocado and tuna ceviche. Each dish was prepared perfectly and had flavors exploding in my mouth. WeFinished with a spicy Tuna roll and yellowtail roll. Great sushi spot. A must go.
The sushi is very fresh and the service was great. Furthermore the price was actually reasonable for NYC. I liked the atmosphere but some may find it too noisy. Not from music, just talking makes the place loud.We had a 25 minute wait even though they said it would be 45. So we were pleasantly surprised to be seated early.
I would give this place 10 stars. Awesome customer service and delicious food. If you’re a sushi/sashimi fan, then definitely check out this place. Also the Blue Ribbon fried chicken is a bomb. I never thought that wasabi can be used for fried chicken sauce. Personally I think it’s convenient to book a table ahead. Worth your money!!!
My friend and I, we liked the sushi and seafood soup in this restaurant. The soup has enough seafood to make you happy and it’s a bit spicy. There’re no special decorations or amazing interior design here, but if you wanna get something tasty, you’ll get it here for sure! :) Though their soy sauce was too salty. And the waitress were laughing at us at the corner when we were eating sushi with forks. It wasn’t perfect of us but it wasn’t mature of them either.
Solid traditional sushi and sashimi with fantastic service and a beautiful atmosphere. They do not offer inventive rolls however, everything is a bit standard. Also, everything is quite overpriced. It’s good, but you can get equivalent quality elsewhere for less in the city. And $16 for a bottle of beer is outrageous.
Excellent service and food! First off this place is fantastic for sushi and sashimi. We arrived at 730 on a Saturday night and were given a 40 minute wait time. We were given the option to place our name and number on a paper so that we could roam around the area while we waited for a table for 4. We ordered a couple of Orion beers and about 20 minutes later we were at our table. We order shrimp dumplings as a starter and it was amazing. We were fairly hungry so we opted for the Blue Ribbon Special that serves 2-4 people. This platter offers a wide variety of sushi, sashimi and maki rolls. Each piece was expertly prepared and was some of the best Japanese food we have ever had. This place is worth the wait, the staff was kind and very attentive. Our bill for the platter, 2 beers, 2 sodas, and 1 bottle of still water was $232.00. the quality of fish and service was well worth this price.Thank you for such an excellent meal.
Great food, lively atmosphere and good service. It is not the best value (expensive for what it is but quality is quite good) but it’s good enough to keep me coming back at least once a month.Only complaint is the sushi bar. There should be two fewer seats as it is way way too tight of a squeeze when completely full and detracts from the dining experience.
This is one of the better sushi spots in the city. The staff is attentive and engaged. The food is delicious and arrives promptly. However there were some noticable kinks that need correcting. I was not familiar with the location and walked by it several times before realizing it was in a hotel. That should be mentioned in Google maps. There were also several waiters apparently in training that caused a bit of concussion when placing our order. It would be better to either have them introduced as such or stand back all together. This place is not cheap and service should be handled as such. It was also extremely loud to the point where I could not hear my dinner guest and had to request being moved. All things consideded I was pleased and will return on a day when its not as busy or as loud.
Solid fare, not extraordinary. Due to the location (across Time Warner Center, in Columbus Circle and within a boutique hotel), the price is a little steeper than necessary. I think the prices are closer to $$$ rather than $$.I had a Sushi Deluxe and Una Ju. They were both solid but nothing exciting to write home about. We sat in the entry way booths and it was less noisier than the main dining hall.I would recommend based on it being average and solid. I expected a little more from Blue Ribbon Sushi brands offering but the food is just your neighborhood good sushi shop.
One of the great Japanese sushi/sashimi restaurants in NYC. There is no doubt about the quality of the food and flavor here. Food is always super fresh, super tasty. I used to be a regular here since 2010. Always had a great dining experience with my friends and family.Few days ago, I went out for dinner and its been a while I havent gone there. We spent about $700 and there was no hospitality like before. Im not expecting something special, but the service we got that night wasnt good at all.But I will still recommend this place to someone looking for great Japanese food.
Excellent once again. This is my third time at one of the Blue Ribbon locations. I have the fried chicken wings with the Ox tail brown rice with shrimp tempura, Delish. I had my sushi to go ( mixed ) The freshness, the service, the food quality you cant beat. Until my next visit.
Best raw fish in town. Many options and all really fresh. Service is fast, but waitress could have given more options (it was my first time here). Price is what you can expect for a god Japanese restaurant, but nothing out of reach. Location is also really good, but restaurant is a bit hard to find.
Some of the best sushi and Japanese food that NYC has to offer. Service is fantastic. Menu items are pricey but worth every penny. The shrimp tempura roll is delicious, my favorite in the city. (NOTE: make sure to order a side of spicy mayo). This location serves a special fried chicken entree with a honey dipping sauce. Have an open mind and dont expect it to be dipped in buttermilk and fried southern style. The teriyaki entrees are solid dinner or lunch choices. Do not forget to order a house salad, its tossed with ginger dressing and chunks of avocado.
Rainy Thursday? Now what? Sushi delivery (via Caviar), thats what! These dudes at Blue Ribbon have their stuff together - the order was in our capable deliverymans hands within 10 minutes.Wakame (seaweed w/ sesame dressing): excellent, fresh, perfect texture. A personal favorite. They also have a couple other types of seaweed available, including a sampler.Avocado Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, California Roll, Sushi Platter: beauty in a box. Well prepared and smartly boxed for delivery. Fresh, good color, smell, and cut, and most importantly great taste. Rolls are on the smaller side, but this is not exactly unexpected. Sushi platter was a mix of seven chefs choice fish - nothing too outlandish here, with usual suspects salmon, tuna, shrimp, etc leading the way.Sushi always surprises me with how filling it is, and after half of this order, tonight was no different. Will make it a point to visit in person sometime soon, as the space looks amazing.
If I could give negative stars I would. This place is so overpriced for the size of the sushi. They’re little tiny rolls for $20+. If you’re coming in from out of town, I’d suggest going somewhere that you will get you’re moneys worth. The price of the sushi is to pay for the over staged decor. Thank you have a good day.
Wow. Then the word pathetic comes to mind.1. Were staying at hotel and put our name down to reserve a table. They said might be an hour or so and will send text.2. We went to have drinks at bar and wait. Very crowded with a man and a women trying to seat people for restaurant. Man had zero personality and was creepy.3. After an hour, I check at desk for table. Clearly overwhelmed, its not ready yet. Okay fine. Another drink. Then 5 minutes later a text comes, table is ready.4. We check in with creepy, zero personality guy who tells me after we waited over an hour - How long were we going to be? He said he could give us a table right away but we can only eat in an hour and hed need the table back. This after waiting an hour for a table! Are you kidding me? How absolutely inconsiderate. We asked how long it would be for a table we could HAVE OUR MEAL AT PROPERLY and he said maybe 15 minutes so we decide to wait. Now? Our seats at the bar obviously have been taken. So we stand 20 minutes until table is ready.5. Upon entering he offers us 2 tables and saw others free. We sit down.6. Waiter came over quickly. We ordered and food came.7. Ribs were good and fell off bone. Tempora shrimp were good but not for $20.000 for what you got.8. We ordered a spicy crab roll and avocado roll. Spicy crab came with an asparagus roll. What the hell?9. Avocado roll was ordered, but beer that was ordered and milk -never came. We had to flag two servers down separately to get the beer and another for the milk.10. Avocado roll was fine. Nothing special. The fried chicken came. Under seasoned. At the very least for the price they should BRINE the chicken. Hot honey was fine. What a Boring dish but it least it came out right.11. My husbands sushi was good not great.12. We both looked at each other and said, what would you rate this place? We decided a C- possible D+.We have zero idea why its so crowded. Very unfriendly staff who have zero personality, front desk staff are just not running things properly and seating whoever walks up and has others wait, inside, no one spoke to us about the menu -just Have you decided what you want?, wrong sushi sent out, chicken was bland, drinks forgotten, staff had no pleasantries especially the sushi bar when I took our son to see how they make the sushi. Not one of them acknowledged us or smiled. Why people would come here is a mystery. There are soooo many delicious sushi places in the city then to wait and have an experience like this. And the food was sub par. Average at best. Would Never come back here and certainly would never recommend. Horrible experience for an average meal where no one cared. We deserve better. You deserve better. Go elsewhere.
Great sushi option from the Blue Ribbon restaurant group. Ordered variety of dishes all solid and fresh. Service was excellent. Not sure if the menu here is different than the downtown outpost as I ordered strictly sushi/sashimi but this location is slightly larger and more accomadating for larger parties.
This place is my preferable place. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this restaurant. when I want to go to a fair lunchon, this place comes right away to my mind. very good and all sorts of food and a large list of dishes.great staff, and agreeable spirit. Not less important, the cost is fair. I tell about this place with no doubt.
The mushroom soup is really good. Other than that, I was very disappointed. Two dollar signs it is not. More like 3. Most entrees are in the $30 range. Was really disappointed in the sushi rolls, which averaging about $15 consisted of 6 VERY SMALL simple sushi pieces. I have had good sushi lots of places (including Japan) and this was unimpressive, and we left still hungry.
This place came highly recommended to us, which is perhaps why it was so disappointing, in a city crammed with great places to eat. Seriously rude service, cocktails were poor (I had the lychee martini) and the food was average at best. Three dishes we asked for were not available, so maybe you have to get there early for the most popular sushi. The whole restaurant reeked of fish, which was a bit off-putting. Its a massive miss for me.
We came to this place for lunch. This spot was recommended to us by a friend. Well, we were not disappointed. The staff members welcomed us with a smile and we felt excellent. The meal was fresh and delicious. We had a great time and we will visit this place again. Recommended.
Used to be our go-to sushi place. Sadly quality has slipped beyond the standards for the prices they charge. Fish was not as fresh, sushi rolls not as well assembled, taste has become more like the commercial/food service type. I’m really sorry but someone had to say it. I hope it’s back to the usual great food the next time we go!
We had a hard time to find this place. You actually have to get inside the hotel where you find a seperate entrance to the sushi restaurant. When ordering we felt like it was really quite expensive but oh boy was it worth it.It was so delicious i wasn’t even able to take a pic before all was gone in my belly.Top notch sushi!!!
Unlike most Japanese restaurants in NYC, the portions here are generous!! We were really surprised by that and Im glad we didnt over order. If, and I highly recommend you do, order the Oxtail Fried Rice, it is MORE than enough to share with another, maybe 3, as an entree. Dont think of this as your typical Chinese take-out side dish!! Also, the bone marrow is INSIDE the most exquisite pillow of an egg omelette! Amazing! According to another person, the fried rice is available as a half order. I would recommend this option if youre dining alone or truly just looking for a side dish or a taste.Modern Japanese decor and friendly, attentive service. Would highly recommend if youre in the area! Well be going back to try the famous fried chicken!
Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill is definitely a must to visit. It’s an all around great restaurant with cool atmosphere, excellent service, excellent food, and they’re quick with preparing the food. Prices are high, but it’s something you would expect from a place such as this one. Trust me when I say the food definitely makes up for the prices. It’s a great restaurant that I highly recommend!
Authentic Japanese food served in a traditional setting... Only a tiny sign at the front door announces this restaurant from the street - its easy to miss. The food was fresh and the service was good... Conveniently located on Columbus Circle...a good choice for dinner.
Great lunch spot for healthy and good Japanese food. Expect more authentic Japanese food ( seaweed, oxtail fried rice, etc.) rather than Americanized sushi rolls a la California roll.Great wooden ambiance.Service wasnt that great the last time I went (slow, uninterested, reluctant and a little impolite), but might be a one-off thing.
This place is definitely more hype than substance. the decor is very very nice. a bit hard to find inside of a hotel. but, they make you wait, even if there are empty seats to increase the allure. the hostess made a very rude comment to one of our friends who was late. sushi was just ok, nothing special. you pay for the ambience here.
This was way too expensive for what it is. You have to pay for the water... I took the chicken special blue ribbon and it was all alone, just the chicken in a plate, nothing else. Are you serious? It was dry, I would prefer to go to Kentucky to be honest.. My girlfriend took some sushis, 5 pieces + 1 roll, the smallest sushis I saw in my life. Everyone was rude in that restaurant and they were waiting for our money. Stay away from this restaurant or youll be ruined and disappointed.Prix beaucoup trop cher pour ce que cétait. Le serveur nous force presque à prendre de leau pétillante à 10$ la bouteille dès le départ. Franchement, restez loin de ce restaurant si vous voulez passer de belle vacances à New York.
Now this is a different culinary experience, worth your time and money. Due to a mistake with our reservation, we were not listed and had no table reserved for us. Once the manager realised it was one of their staff members mistake, he went out of his way to accomodate us.Once seated, following a short wait for the next available table, he came over to appologise yet again, and from then on added additional plates beyond what we ordered from the menu. All were on the house including our drinks and deserts. It was refreshing to see the owner and the staff take responsibility, acknowledge their mistake and make every effort possible to make up for it.This service at its best. The food was extraordinary. The best of the best. No use in recommending any specific dish as they were all PERFECT. You cant go wrong there. All in all, the food, the approach and the service score 100.Thumbs up.
Crowds and a somewhat snooty host take away from what would otherwise be a great sushi joint. Its a step up from the local neighborhood bar, but not at the level of the abundant crop of omakase spots popping up around the city. Maybe a little pricey for what it is, but the fish is impeccably fresh and theres a bit of a scene at the bar.
Amazing food! My go to is their uni and bone marrow. Lobster sashimi all day every day. The ambience is trendy and conveniently located. Thank you to all the staff for putting up with my two crazy sons running around. Sorry to Versace for them joining your table lol.
Ate here for lunch. If you dont make a reservation, best to come when they open - it filled up really fast!!!Had Chirashi - really good quality fish, but wish the egg wasnt in small pieces and that it was a bigger piece (whole piece). One thing that was pretty cool was the miso soup, they brought out the miso paste so you can adjust the flavor to your liking.
I’ve been here several times before COVID-19 & had a wonderful time. However, the website states that there are no dinner reservations for parties under 5 and that dinner is walk-in only. I came all the way here in August 2020 abiding by what I stated on the website for dinner walk-ins & the server told my husband and I that we needed a reservation to dine in. Please update your website to show the most recent booking information.
We are usually fans of omakase-style eating and are willing to pay top dollar - was not worth the $400 price tag for 3 people over lunch here however. While the fish was good, nothing stood out as creative or mouth-watering. The Toro did melt in our mouths but it does everywhere else in town; we also ordered the fried chicken, which was bland and basic at best. Service was also rather slow.
So this was awesome! The mushroom salad and the radish salad both tasted so great my wife alost didnt want to eat the sushi. Even the miso soup was great...we were able to add the miso to our liking. When the sushi and sashi arrived, which was super quick, our combo platter had a good balance of sushi and sashimi and the variaty was just right for two of us.
Blue Ribbon Sushi has incredibly fresh sushi. The menu is innovative and the fish is flown in daily from the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Besides sushi, I would recommend getting the Oxtail friend rice. If you are curious as to how sushi is made, I would sit at the sushi bar. The atmosphere is very cozy.
Was in town on my own and staying nearby. Host was great and called me when my table was ready, and had a terrific meal including an uni flight to accompany a sake flight, plus Hamachi kama, and an ebi sushi complete with fried shrimp head for dessert. terrific service, great ambiance, this will become one of our go-to NYC places.
Blue Ribbon is hidden inside a boutique hotel in UWS and I would never find it if not for my vendor, who treated us to a nice lunch. I am so glad I know its existence because it is great!I really love their Kale salad. It is one of the best I have had. We started with their Miso Black Cod fish as an appetizer and it is absolutely addictive and fresh. Their Bone marrow with Ox Tail Fried Rice is truly unique and flavorful. The lunch bento box is filling and delicious too. I got their sashimi for entree and it comes in 11 pieces and each piece is very fresh and tender.Too bad we were too full to try their desserts. I am sure it is as delicious as the main entree. Cant wait to return!
An all-around terrific mid-scale sushi experience that tastefully balances authenticity with a dash of quirky. The hot sauce, for example, is habenero-based, not siracha—and its uniquely delightful. And you wont hear any Japanese strings; the indie playlist contributes positive energy without disrupting the fundamental sushi experience. In terms of food, sushi and entrees alike are high in quality but a bit short on size for the price. But the exceedingly friendly and accompanying staff make up for any lost value.Enjoy rooftop drinks before or after dinner. Go for the Japanese IPA.
Located inside the 6 Columbus Hotel on 58th Street servicing Manhattan. Parking on the Street is available but it fills up fast especially at night and on the weekends. Parking lot is nearby. Food is good. Clean facilities. Public Restrooms. On the expensive side so bring your credit cards. Staff is nice. We will definitely be going back.Thank you to the owner for responding. You have a great and unique business. We look forward to patronizing your establishment again soon.Eric San José
The flavor is good but its way too expensive for the terrible presentation. When i recieved my food it was similar in apearance to a first grade macaroni art school project. Almost everything was on its side and the salmon roe nigiri was more like salmon roe marbles all over my plate and everything was smashed to one side and looked kind of like chocolate milk mixed with rice and nori.I still gave 3 stars because i like salmon and the salmon nigiri was alright.
Good food ideas are killed with salt and blue ribbon is a major assassin. duck entree was undercooked. main room is wood paneled, wood floor, wood ceiling and very warm and noisy. sushi was excellent, however, and there was a small freebie to make up for long wait between courses.not my kind of dining experience.
The best sushi I ever had and my i tire life and I being in menu places my husband and I we where in the hotel and we are craving in the middle of the night to have sushi and this place pop out bc is open till 2 am in the morning I was amazed by the service and the sushi’s was spectacular totally recommended u are not going to regret!

2022-05-26My dinner group and I had such a great time at this place. It was a last-minute decision to go and we didn’t even look at the place before we went inside but it looks nice from the outside and once we got in it we saw that there was a large dining area but also cozy how is sitting with booths available. Which I thought was really interesting. The food was phenomenal and overall it was such a great find and a surprising one at that. I’m sure other people might’ve known about this place that we were so hungry after coming back from the Met and it was open late and that was the reason why we went in but it definitely made for a highlight of the evening. So great such a good cocktails and drinks as well. I will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

2022-06-28We had a fantastic meal. All dishes were delicious, they manage to make a simple green salad exquisite with a dressing that is fantastic. The nigiri melts in your mouth, the quality of the fish is incredible. The atmosphere is cool but welcoming and accommodating to families too. I would highly recommend this place.

2022-04-26Blue Ribbon was fantastic! Inside a hotel lobby which wasn’t clear to me…fun adventure to find! The inside is very nice with a lot of seating, including small enclosed rooms, open tables and my favorites, the sushi bar way in the back. This place is FAST! And GOOD! I found the fish to be fresh and plentiful. Otoro and Uni were my favs, but the 7 color roll won my vote for best variety!Definitely gets my Go There vote!#gotheretastethat #blueribbonsushi #sushi

2022-01-07Nice, warm atmosphere, friendly, knowledgeable staff, and absolutely delicious and fresh sushi. Wed highly recommend the Sushi Delux platter. The various choices by the chef were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We also very much enjoyed the tartar as an appetizer, and the mochi ice cream to finish (we chose green tea and red bean). The sake was also wonderful. The only downside is that the restaurant has a 2 hour time limit per table so things feel a bit rushed and not as relaxed, but overall we would highly recommend for the food and friendly service.

2022-07-19We love the sushi here and be sure to try the fried chicken with honey dipping sauce. I realize that fried chicken is odd for a sushi place, but this is the best ever. She loves this joint because it has a lot of cooked foods and I LOVE their sushi. Very reasonably priced especially the chefs selections that come with 7 or 10 pieces of sushi plus a roll of tuna or California roll. We love their white sauce as well which is sesame mayo. Yummy. Fried rice with an soft boiled egg on top is great too but it is a LOT of fired rice. Same with the soup bowls. They are huge but really good. The salmon tartare is very good but it is almost purrered. Some do prefer chunks of salmon, but I like it either way. Check out all of our reviews. 2021-10-11The sushi was very good. Service was great. Ambience was cozy and very Japanese. What made me give it 4 stars is because of the price. Google maps deceived us with a $$ tag when it should have been $$$. Ate $50 per person
