Blue Smoke in other cities:
BBQ in NYC, Yum!Service: Absolutely incredible, our waiter was kind, attentive, and always checked up on our table. When the food was brought out the staff made sure everything was correct before they left and was very kind.Food: Buttermilk Biscuits are a must, cornbread is delicious. Pulled pork is fantastic with a hint of spice in the sauce. Beans are spicy in my opinion so beware. The strawberry shortcake was good. The Butter: I wouldnt think I would make a section for this but it has to be done. This is the best butter I have ever tasted. Make sure to ask for it if you have anything bread related or even if you dont so you can taste it. It is that good.Outside dining: As stated before I got better service outside than most indoor restaurants. The city is lively and there are a plethora of things to observe.
Five star stand out: fried chicken, particularly the dark meat which was so juicy and perfectly cooked. The buttermilk biscuit was so flaky and wonderful. Ideal even. The mac and cheese was solid. 4/5. Happy to get and would satisfy a craving. Quite creamy and ok tasting cheeses.Beer was also excellent. Its hard for me to find a great red lager, and they had one on tap. Plus it was actually the right amount of cold. Big recommend. (Plus the staff all get along and have great interactions which just adds to the ambiance.)
First timer to this place. Love the smoke smell and the maple wood cord when you come in. Staff was very nice and courteous. The dishes we ate were simply amazing (We had the Texan brisket + pulled pork). Truly a summer friend gathering barbecue type of experience. A little on the expensive side but totally worth it. 10/10 would go back !
Most of the options here are peanut safe, which is great for those of us with severe nut allergies like me. While the brisket sandwich with mac & cheese was fairly well cooked, it was slightly less flavorful than I was expecting and the sides are small. I think someone into alcohol and barbecue would love this place though, and Ill probably be back.
By far the best dining experience I have had thus far in the city!! The food was beyond exceptional, staff was friendly, attentive, and courteous. The chicken sandwich was full of flavor, had a slight kick to it, and was very juicy. The corn bread was crispy around the edges, moist inside, with the right mix of salty amd sweet. Lastly, the chocolate cupcake was rich, moist, and icing was not overly sweet and was the perfect amount of chocolate on top. Definite must go if in the city and looking for great food and service.
The service was great! Its a nice rustic restaurant with a modern feel. The biscuits with honey butter are to die for. I had the Memphis ribs and they were ok, not falling off the bone like I like but still really good flavor. I would recommend it for good upscale BBQ.
If I could give you guys 200 stars I would! The food is to die for! The customer service was impeccable, from the smiling host when walking in, to the cute message that was left when asked for a side of bbq sauce. I ended up getting two different kinds on the side for free which is so generous and kind! If Blue Smoke was a person, I would date him! ;)
Made a reservation, which I had to push back about 15 mins. It was easy to do with the app. The ambiance was nice. The drinks were good and the food amazing. The Alabama sauce wings are delicious! The wings could have been warmer. Must try! The Mac and cheese is off southern quality. I had the brisket sandwich with cole slaw…just know I’ll be back. I love brisket and the tangy taste added to entire experience. Will be coming back.
Tried it for the first time! The Spicy Chicken sandwich was great! Excellent choice if you don’t go BBQ. The Apple Tart & ice cream was very good as well. The server (Peco) is what brought it all together though! Constantly checked in, absolutely knew the menu front to back and the cocktail menu was inquisitive on what I like to help identify right choices. You don’t get that level of service these days and Peco delivered like it was just the usual.Stumbled across Blue Smoke at random and glad I did. I’ll 100% be back and with more folks 😬
Was in the area so we decided to grab a quick bite. Informed the host we were pressed for time . He seat us and thats when things went wrong for us. A family came in after us sat next to us , waitress came out and went over to them took there order and never said a word to us . We got up and left I have eaten here several times never had that experience dont know about going back such a turn off
We had the brisket, pulled pork, burger, French fries, potato salad, corn bread, Cole slaw, and all of it was delicious. The brisket was amazing. The service was great. They seated us as soon as we walked in and were gracious even though the kitchen was closing in 10 mins. My only regret is not saving room for the strawberry shortcake but the chips and queso they gave us while waiting for our food was so good....just go here! Its great!
Was in the area and decided to grab a bite at this location since I hadnt been in a while. Although my husband had a bad experience before we decided to give it a try again. Upon entering we shared with the person in the front that we were pressed for time. We sat and was told waitress would be right over. A family came in maybe 5 to 10 minutes after us and was seated next to us. The waitress came out, went to the family and took their order. Never once looked over at us and to make it so bad, she walked away after she took their order. While so many people give actions such as this the benefit of the doubt. Lets call it what it was racist! Will never go to this establishment again and will tell family and friends to think twice after sharing both our experiences.
We arrive to this restaurant without reservation, it was crowded because of the happy hour they have, good prices, but it was just at the bar so we got a table without problem! Friendly staff, the best, the manager, he came to our table to ask how was everything and he was nice to give us an explanation on the ribs we had and the different spices they put in, he even brought a sample of each so we could smell them! Well done, good service! The food was good too, we had the deviled eggs and the sampler ribs with a side of fries, they were all awesome!! A glass of red wine, a couple of local beers, we definitely had a good time! We did not get any dessert though, I was expecting to see the NY cheesecake but they did not have it.All in all, good place to go, next time we’ll try first the happy hour and then the dinner. ;)
Totally disappointed w portion for 4 to 6 people game day pkg for which i paid extra to have delivered today. Taste was certainly not what expected. Ended up throwing away half the brisket and ribs because no one wanted ate or wanted as leftovers. Glad i made 5 sides to accompany meat. 🥴
Nothing like it used to be.Service,Food,WaitersThe Chubby Dude with the Beard After paying and giving a $30 tip couldn’t even say a thank you. I couldn’t tell if he was just rude or racist cause he treated the two people behind me with so much respect and care while he rushed me a few times at my table. So tht being said I will never return.
Really loved everything here. Get the Alabama wings... seriously incredible. I really enjoyed the brisket as well (tender and juicy) and mac n cheese. It was a very rich but delicious meal. The service was also very attentive and detail oriented (up to UHG standards). What also stood out was the attention to COVID protocols to wear a mask when the staff approached the table: I appreciate the precautions being taken.
This was my very first time and I enjoyed it from the minute I walked in. Its a short walk from WTC. We were greeted immediately upon entering and see quickly after showing our Vax info and ID.We had the brisket (lean and marbled). Deviled eggs, Mac & Cheese, mashed sweet potatoes and coleslaw. Everything was great, generous portions and the drink special was quite tasty.Look forward to going back.
I would definitely come back here if I visited NY again. Came here because of a friends recommendation and definitely dont regret it. I tried the Pit stop meal where you get the biscuit and your choice of meat and sides. So I went with something that I knew would be fulfilling but I wasnt going to waste. That was the sausage with a side of cornbread and of course the biscuit. Even with the cornbread I still shared it because it was pretty big!We got the wings to share and although it was messy, it was pretty good. Im on a diet, so I knew if I ate too much wings I wasnt going to be able to eat my main meal. Although it doesnt look like much, tbh, it was a lot for me and the perfect serving size. I was really satisfied with my dish and happy with what I got. Especially being a tourist where you dont want to bring home food/ waste anything. It definitely was the right choice. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a place worth going $$$ and a sit down meal where you can talk and have intimate discussionsCustomer service was great! The only thing is the bathrooms are weird. You couldnt really tell if they where vacant or not because it doesnt say if its vacant like how it usually does on the door and you dont want to be weird and push the door open. Its one stall per door so thats just a heads up...
Blue Smoke was a great find for us! We loved the sweet cornbread medallions with syrup, the chicken wings, and the crispy pork wings. The chicken sandwich, ribs, and salad were all top notch, and the brisket was uniquely done and extremely tasty. Bonus points for the pig shaped cookie for the kids to decorate. If you’re nearby, this is a great stop.
Blue Smoke was good - fairly priced. The food came out to the table within a reasonable time. The service was good, friendly, and made recommendations on the food. The fried chicken was a little oily and wished it was more spicy, the ribs were good, soft and fall of the bone. The Madelines were great. Make sure to order the side of Macn Cheese.
Super awesome food. Tried their burger, desserts and drinks. Service was amazing. Ambiance was nice. Try to reserve tables online/phone.Edit : Went there again. Ordered burgers (medium well) and we got burgers with burnt patty. It was bad! Service was really slow as well.Dessert option was amazing - Had chocolate cake and milk.
We visited Blue Smoke for lunch today and the place was packed outside. There were still room inside. Host was very courteous and greeted us upon arrival, upon seating we were immediately acknowledged by the serving staff - *Maddie*. She knew exactly why she was doing and gave us space to make selections. Upon asking she knew flavors for all items on the menu and also told her favorites, she also sounded well versed with recent changes in menu, flavors and recipes. Upon exclusively asking if she likes working there, she brimmed with happiness and said, YES! I guess a happy staff leads to happy customers :)Our food arrived on time and a re-order of condiments was well received.Good service, courteous and happy staff made our lunch so good; if you’re around and craving quality food, this place is a go!
We started with the bbq chips that were yummy with blue cheese bacon dip. I had the brisket with mac&cheese, the meat was kinda fatty and you have to put your own bbq on it. The spicy chicken sandwich was huge and the ribs and fries looked uneventful but my friend liked it. They took forever to bring out my strawberry basil lemonade but it was the best I ever had, worth the wait!!! Lastly they forgot to plate our biscuits so the chef sent us out a plate with an extra one, they tasted divine!!! Decent prices too. Ive had better bbq elsewhere so its not a must to go back....maybe a quick takeout biscuit order lol
This restaurant was very warm and welcoming to my two children. Set them up with toys to keep them busy on our arrival, and brought them cookies to decorate that they then baked for the kids to eat! Loved the attention they received on our visit.Food hit the spot (salmon salad needs more salmon though!) and the drink recommendation was spot on. Thank you Blue Smoke!
We stayed at the hotel right above this restaurant and decided to give it a try just because it was close. OMG, I am so GLAD we did. I ordered the Hot Honey Fried Chicken, probably THE best chicken I have ever had in my entire life. My fiance ordered the ribs and he LOVED them. From that 1st day we arrived, we ate there every single day we were in town. I can only wish to get chicken like this again. I have searched several websites for the recipe and can NOT find their version of it to save my life. I will come to NYC just so I can eat here again!!! A MUST!
Absolutely the best BBQ Ive had since leaving the South!! What a phenomenal experience! Not only was the door spectacular, they brought cookies out for the kids to decorate and cooked them while we ate our entrees. There wasnt a crumb left on the whole table when we got finished.
My girlfriend and I chose to eat here for our last night visiting the US. It didnt disappoint! Restaurant quality barbeque, friendly and knowledgeable staff and all reasonably priced. Special mention to our waiter staff Chris, as well as the hostess Abne, who bought our dessert for us because we shared a special Australian connection!
We went for dinner, and loved this place! The restaurant is part of Union Square Hospitality Group owned by Denny Meyer. As the other restaurants of the group, Blue Smoke offers great quality and an attentive service. Waiters give you all the time that you need to enjoy your dinner, and the environment is relaxed and not too loud. We will be back soon! This is now one of our favorite BBQ restaurants.
Great ambiance and delicious food. We thoroughly enjoyed the bbq potato chips and chicken wings appetizers. Our main courses were also delicious. The Mac and Cheese is noteworthy. For a table full of bbq lovers the whole pit is a great deal as $40 pp gets you a sampling of every type of bbq meat and every side dish on the menu
Disclaimer: we made only one visit and a single apathetic server may not represent the vast majority of experiences. The food is pretty good when it goes right, but ¼ of our bright eyed sandwichs were inedible because of a vastly overcooked and unseasoned egg. Our server (D****) didnt actually deliver the sandwiches from the kitchen, nor check on us after that, so we had to ask the hostess retrieve her so we could get a new sandwich, which I tried to politely hint should be a whole new sandwich but instead she brought out a new egg to repair the sandwich ourselves. Besides hiding at the edge of the restaurant and circulating none, her attitude was decisively indifferent and aloof all the way until she asked to bring the check and suddenly became vastly more cheerful interactive and interested in us, in what I thought was a fairly bald faced ploy to goose the gratuity despite lousy service for the rest of the meal.I would give it another chance to see if today was an anomaly before writing this place off, however.
Excellent food. Meal pictured was $68. Being from the south, I am picky about barbecue. The ribs and the collards were excellent. I will definitely go back. Server was attentive and pleasant. Atmosphere was nice as well as relaxing. Wasnt too loud. It was a nice place to relax after walking around the city for a while.
Holy smokes, where to start. This place is amazing head to toe. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. TRUST their beverage pairings with the meat. The food is absolutely amazing, the atmosphere is perfect for almost every situation. Whether it be an intimate date, or a group of friends. The place is clean. Did I mention the food was good? You CANNOT miss out on the cornbread. Baked fresh to order and its absolutely amazing. Next time Im in NYC I will absolutely be back there.
I ordered the Pit Stop of ribs with a side of mac and cheese and beans and I have to say it was delicious. The food quality was excellent and the cocktail I ordered was strong but yummy! You will for sure enjoy your meal here.I only encountered one issue with my meal. There was a small thin metal piece maybe a cm long stuck to my ribs. It looked like it was from a grill cleaning brush. While I did eat the metal piece I did not swallow it. My friend and I only casually mentioned it at the end of the meal just to let them know they might want to watch out for that in the future.I expected it to be left at that but they treated it as a very serious matter. I respect the staff for their professionalism as they discussed and inspected the metal. They escalated the situation on their own without any complaint from me.This is an establishment that very much cares about it’s customers and their experience. When they brought back the check I was told by what I believe to be the head of their staff that they had comped my meal. With the way they reacted to my casual mention of the issue I had I would not hesitate to eat here in the slightest. It’s not something I believe that would happen again- and after all the food was great!
One of the best places in the city for southern cooking. The beef brisket and the biscuit was very good. I also had the blue smoke ice tea which was great. It took a really long time to get our food (30 min. Plus) even with the place half empty. We were so hungry by the time it came, that I forgot to take pictures. It was very pretty though.
The ribs where amazing , the Texas beef brisket was pretty good but it was a little to fatty for my taste. The potato salad was good but not memorable. The grilled veggies where delicious and the coleslaw was not my favorite. The cornbread was really good and the frozen punch was exactly what I enjoy in a cocktail.Good service and the food didnt take long. Ill consider returning to try more food.
We were in the area and felt like Barbecue food and found this place. The food is amazing; must try the brisket!! We took the platter that allows you to tastes all their meats and the reordered the brisket and 1 sausage. (Picture below) The staff is super friendly, the music & ambiance are perfect, we really loved this restaurant! I would totally recommend!
Our experience at Blue Smoke was amazing! We ordered primarily chicken for our lunch when we visited, and it was so tender that the chicken was practically falling off the bone! Also, our server, Lydia, was excellent! She was so polite and hospital with all of us, and she was very careful about my sons egg and tree nut allergies. She made sure that all of the food that he had was safe for him to eat. Like I said, the experience at Blue Smoke was amazing, and if and when my family and I come back to this area of the city we will highly consider coming back. Thank you to Lydia and all of the staff at Blue Smoke for their work!
We visited this Blue Smoke restaurant since we had a great experience in the previous location in central manhattan.Unfortunately this one couldn’t deliver on our expectations. Smaller menu, less tasty and more expensive.Wouldn’t recommend, when looking for a great bbq experience.
I made reservations just in case but when we got there it wasnt even crowded (on a Saturday night). The drinks were kinda strong but I wouldnt complain about that. After 8pm they have 50 cent Alabama wings, you cant go wrong with those. The food was good. The server was great. I definitely will come back again but next time Ill bring my friends.
Awesome staff! I got the wings and loaded fries (pictured,) and it was way more filling than I had imagined. Price for alcohol seemed a bit much, but Im not a local, so maybe that was average for the area...I was also here with some family and they brought out a small cutout of cookie dough and sprinkles for my baby niece and baked it up while we were eating. Very cute idea!
We got there at 7 o’clock on a Sunday night and I ordered the brisket. The flavor profile was good, a tangy barbecue sauce. The problem fell into the dryness of the brisket. Bark, tenderness and flavor three things I look for, these all need to be just right or you won’t have proper barbecue. He hit two out of three.
Excellent service, and even better flavors. The brisket is extremely well seasoned. There is an onslaught of delicious flavors throughout the entire serving. The meat was so tender, and buttery-soft that it might have to be eaten with a spoon! The biscuits are worth their weight in gold! A doggy bag for a few biscuits is recommended to stave off the shakes for when you get home.
My favorite of the place is the Alabama white wings. They are half off after 8pm and order it with the sauce on the side. Ull thank me later. This venue is not crowded on a rainy Monday eve when I got there. Although I have a feeling that it will be slammed during after work, happy hour period because its located smack right in the middle of high profile offices and wall street.
Excellent service and very accommodating. We were initially sat outside, which was lovely but the outdoor bugs liked me a little too much. At first they couldnt sit us inside (which was fine, our server tried and thats what mattered) but we lucked out as something opened up and the staff brought us in. The point to this tidbit is that theyre really nice and try their best to make you comfortable. The waiters and hostess were sweethearts. The food was delicious, especially the fried chicken and the biscuit. They reminded me my moms cooking. I wish I got the name of the club soda they served. Definitely coming back here.
Delicious biscuits some of the best Ive ever had took some home just to savor the taste. Amazing cocktail of the week. Great wings with the Chipotle sauce. Baby back ribs were good too, its more than you would usually get for ribs and if its not enough sauce you can just ask and theyll give you some on the side. Gf loved mashed potatoes with gravy reccomends it.
Hard to find fault with anything. The service & food was terrific. My wife & I went 4 lunch after visiting the 911 museum. We shared the buttermilk chicken bites with a honey mustard dipping sauce..so good. Then we shared their burger & the brisket sandwich with coleslaw both of which came with fries. We didnt want lunch 2 end. If u can get 2 the battery this place is a must.
By far the best BBQ Restaurant in NYC. I’ve lived an NYC for my entire life and have been to all of the major BBQ locations. None of them can touch Blue Smoke. Every single item I’ve ever ordered off the menu is phenomenal and they also have a great cocktail menu which is updated regularly.
Good BBQ, but not the south variations. Service is attentive and small out door seating with a view of cars only. The river esplanade is 1,000 feet west. They used to have excellent french donuts one could dip in coffee with powdered sugar, but no more. Burgers and other fare are ok, but no letters home about the food. It is ok to go if you are in the area. The movie house is steps away.
Im not a huge barbecue fan, so Id say take this with a grain of salt. The ribs and brisket were a bit tough with a little more chewing involved than I would have liked. But, as with most bbq joints, the sides were great! Highly recommend the corn muffins with the honey butter. It also just has a nice family friendly vibe. :)
We used to be regular patrons of Blue Smoke. They have the best ribs and are famous for their food. Today, we returned to Blue Smoke for the first time after Covid19. We went with great anticipation and desire to savor the delights we had not in a long while. We ordered the Babyback ribs (half rack) with some sides. It arrived promptly and my partner dug in. Much to his disappointment, it was dry and hard. The meat was firm and not the usual soft and tender. Everything about the dish was more surprising than disappointing. Our waitress was quite lovely. When she came to enquire how was the food, I told her that we were a little disappointed. We did not expect anything. But she went to speak with the manager who came right away and spoke to us. He offered to replace the ribs with something else or whatever we wanted. We opted for the pulled pork dish. He took the plate away and after a few minutes returned with the pulled pork dish AND......another plate of the half rack Babyback ribs. He told us that the chef wanted us to try this one and see if met our expectations. It was on the house. We tried and it was great! We ended up bringing home the Babyback ribs and ate the pulled pork dish at the restaurant. Both dishes ended up being GREAT! Excellent customer service by all. Our server and the manager both focused on making the customer happy. We have been patrons for years and yes, we will definitely return because of the care and attention we received. Thank you!
Ok so tonight was their 1st indoor night, and it was soooo wonderful. All the staff was in good spirits, and the brisket was on point. Hot tip! Their happy hour last til 7pm and its $2 dollars off all spirits. Watch out for the spritz, its very sneaky and strong, and the reason Ill be stumbling home tonight. If you live in Jersey its a 4 min stroll to the ferry. Highly recommend, enjoy!
The food was delicious! My husband got chicken fried ribs as an appetizer and loved them! I tried the breading and it was light and crispy! For our main meals we both had chicken and waffles. Hands down the best fried chicken Ive ever had and the waffle was amazing as well! Our service was great, too. We would definitely go back.
The atmosphere is really nice and warm. The food is pretty good but generally not worth the price. I got the breakfast plate with eggs, bacon, and grits - it was good, but nothing to write home about. My boyfriend got the burger which was very juicy, but they charged us for a double-patty. I would definitely suggest this place for the location, convenience, and vibe.
The food was amazing. It was 6 of us and we all got various meats and sides which were all amazing! Should be a 5 star review right? Except there was a wait even though we had a reservation, wait staff was slow (okay it was busy), and they ran out of the biscuits during a lunch hour which are amazing so that was a big let down at the table. Give the place a call beforehand and make sure to get the biscuits then u can give it a 5...
Atmosphere and service is great, but it’s not cheap. The brisket is probably the worst I’ve had from a BBQ joint and was 85% fat. Biscuit was tasty, but was also $3 for a biscuit smaller then the palm of my hand.Definitely wouldn’t come back here because it’s quite expensive for just OK food, but it’s worth coming if you need somewhere in the area that’s nice. Just avoid the brisket.
Its rare for me to find places that offer Beef Brisket, so I couldnt pass it up. I wasnt disappointed. Slow-cooked, so it basically melted in my mouth with just the right seasonings. I added the Mac & Cheese which was nice and thick and a good complement to the beef. The people serving, I felt, were generous with their portions. I definitely had my fill. The next time Im back in NYC, Im definitely going back to this place.
Have been to the location near Madison Square park many times over the years and this Battery Park Outpost is reliably good. From a value standpoint, it is a little bit overpriced but the food is excellent. I had ribs with coleslaw and pickles. Also got an order of fries...very big order and really well cooked (crispy, well seasoned). Ive had the brisket and pulled pork on different visits and everything they do is high quality. So, if you can deal with the cost, youll have an awesome meal.
Good bbq with generous portions and creative pairings. The smoked wings are fantastic, ribs delicious and the brunch fried chicken sandwich is large, flavorful and nested on biscuit donuts. With 2 locations in the city, this is a great place to grab brunch/dinner and oftentimes you can get in without a reservation
Absolutely delicious food. We were worried it may not be toddler friendly but we were wrong! They brought him a cute little pig cookie cut out to decorate while we waited for our food. Biscuits were salty sweet, meat was great. Burnt ends are to die for!! Service was great as well. Overall a great time.
I would have definitely given Blue Smoke five stars but I had one issue. I ordered the burger, and the meat was delicious however it was too skimpy. It was 9 bucks which might explain the size but I wouldnt mind paying more for a bigger burger. Nice decor, dim, bar, seating; its a great place to go with your boo or friends. But I am excited to go back to Blue Smoke, and sit down and try other items on the menu
Lydia here rocks! The chicken bites are really good, the brisket is pretty amazing for BBQ in NYC, the little cornbread are yummy, the watermelon and cucumber salad is really refreshing and tasty. A well run restaurant, service is great and did I mention how attentive Lydia is, my favorite go to spot in battery park!
I saw a Facebook video about this restaurant a couple years back and immediately decided I had to eat there. Only problem is that I live in Texas. About a month ago I had a work trip that took me to DC and while driving to DC I remembered Blue Smoke. I watched the Facebook video multiple times and I literally drove the 300 miles from DC to NYC just to eat here. The Alabama wings were awesome. It was so worth the wait just to eat there. I told the Manager on duty my story about being from Texas and literally deviating my trip over 600 miles round trip just to get a order of the wings. The Manager went into the back and made me a small sampling tray and literally put 1 piece of everything on it so I got to try everything. The only thing I didn’t get was the cornbread madeleines and the Blue-cheese and bacon dip with the homemade chips, both of which were on my bucket list for Blue Smoke. Bottom line is had I known the food was even better than the video made it out to be, I would have flown in from Texas the day after watching that video just to gorge on the best meal. Ever. The best part was because of the pandemic they were only accepting credit cards and the problem is that I don’t believe in plastic and don’t even have a check card. I deal strictly in cash. The manager was so nice she took my cash and put my meal on her personal credit card. In closing, every chance I get I will change my course and drive hundreds of miles out of the way just to eat there. Perfect!
An excellent execution of food, ambiance and service.Limited as its food choices may be, its strength lies in its delivery of amazing takes on all your favorite meals. Backed by a good selection of cocktails, the food seldom disappoints. There are also a wide variety of happy hour and after hour discounts that make this place interesting no matter the time.
We went in by chance for a spot of lunch and the food here is really good. It was busy but not over crowded. Service was excellent, food and drinks served quickly and a great atmosphere. We ordered the ribs which were OK.....but the chicken was amazing. Portions are generous and if you dont have a massive appetite get a main to share and load up on sides.
Went here for restaurant week. Food was okay. I enjoyed the cornbread and the brisket chili. I was too full to start on my 2nd course, which was baby back ribs (2 slabs) and mac&cheese. So, i took a bite out of one slab and I asked the waiter to bag my food. I was excited to eat my food when I finally got home, but discovered he had only put 1 slab of the ribs in the container. Weirdest experience ever. Other than that the ribs were good, not really a fan of the Mac. From now on, I’ll bag my own food.
Been here last year and the food was amazing and all the staff helpful and all prefect at there job. This year exactly the same. All friendly welcoming all had a laugh while working and made the experience for me prefect. Would recommend to come here and try the world famous blue smoke burger. My waitress Dylan was funny friendly and a good laugh. 10/10
Great appetizers especially the pork cracklin and the fried bread and cheese pimiento. Sides were good except for the pork and beans, too vinegary for my taste. The brisket and baby back ribs were great but the pork shoulder was not moist. Service was good. The key lime pie was served too cold though and a bit too tangy.
Great food, the whole pit family style option (pic related) is an incredible value. Very good bourbon list, also enjoyed the selection of cocktails and beer. Nice atmosphere, chill but chic and more space than most NYC restaurants makes it kid friendly. Only gripe was service, while very warm and friendly, seemed a little slow. Will likely return for more SMOKED MEATS 😈
Went for dinner on a Friday night right after work. We opted for the indoor seating as it was pretty hot outside but the outdoor looked nice. The food was delicious and the staff was attentive and very pleasant. There were plenty of families there with children as well as the happy hour crowd by the bar. Comfortable atmosphere though not a cheap place. Id eat here again.
The pit stop was a great option for lunch. I had the pork shoulder with mac & cheese. It also comes with a biscuit and coleslaw salad. I was very full at the end, since we had wings to share with the table. The wings were also really good and had an interesting white sauce. Definitely recommend it!
Delicious barbecue from a place where it can certainly be hard to find. But despite the tastiness, the serving you get for the amount you pay definitely feels a bit like highway robbery (and is the reason I dock a star). You can find all your typical BBQ fare for the most part, but where this place shines is the alcohol selection. A lot of unique beers and whiskeys that fit the southern ambiance they have. Ive never seen the place too busy so getting a table shouldnt be an issue, especially in the warmer months when they give the option for outdoor seating.
Greeters and wait staff all very pleasant and helpful. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Busy on a Thursday night (10.17.19 at 7pm), but tables available so we were seated as soon as we walked in. We also had a 7 pm reservation.Started with the bbq chips, coated with lot of semi-flavorless rub with only a hint of bbq flavor. Slightly warm, would have been much better with less rub and warm. The bleu cheese and bacon dip was a nice match.Husband had the Cornish hen smoked fried chicken. Spicy batter, fried perfectly. Just okay overall flavor combination. I had the burnt ends special, which had a lot of fun and the chunks alternated between being good to being super dry.We shared collared greens, which were good.Overall disappointed in the experience. The manager, Jean-Claude, stopped by and asked if we enjoyed. We have our honest opinion, which he seemed to take to heart and was very apologetic that they didnt live up to expectations. He invited us back (we live in Miami) so took the chips off our bill as a good will gesture. That was appreciated.
The barbecue at blue smoke is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the deviled eggs and also any of the entrées from the pit are good. I particularly love the ribs and a pork shoulders. They give you half a pound or a full rack option, and I recommend getting a few of the half so you can have a variety. I love this restaurant, the staff is very friendly, the location is convenient, and the drink selection is extensive.
Service was outstanding. The BBQ was great. Have / halve the pastrami seasoned short rib with a friend if you dont like eating humongous portions and then feeling stuffed.Biscuits look better than they taste but are adequate. The bread has the consistency of Wonder Bread but appears to be made on premise or, at least for the restaurant. (Most BBQ places in the south use wonder bread so I am guessing this was intentional). The oysters were fresh and tasty. The kale salad also delightful. Also had an order of the smoked chicken wings split among table, those were great, 12 pieces, I had three; dont expect spicy hot BTW. It is possible that the waiter held the spice because the man who ordered the chicken wings was in his late 80sThe bar is fully, and I mean, FULLY stocked. I, imho, would love to find restaurant that has smaller portions. In this day and age of over eating, I tend to eat too much if it tastes as good as this place does. NYC prices 5 of us, three courses, drinks... Over $360 before tip.Make a reservation.
Amazing food coupled with a truly remarkable atmosphere and outstanding hospitality, this place is over the top. One of the best bar-b-que restaurants in the country if not THE best! Nina our waitress made us feel like we were at home and provided the best endearing service that only a Danny Meyer restaurant can deliver. As if that were not enough, the sweet tea was just like my mom once made! What an unforgettable experience! I could go on and on, like we went through everything on the menu, but this has got to end. Just go and you will be in Bar-B-Que heaven!!!
Beautiful decor, good food. Pleasant Host. I cant give it more stars because every time come to get my take out order the food is cold and I either have to reheat it if I have the time or save it for another day. The food really is delicious. If you happen to visit on a warm day, take advantage of the outdoor seating.
Food was pretty good. The brisket, ribs, sausage, turkey and pulled pork were very good. The collard greens, mashed sweet potatoes, and creamed spinach were excellent. The beans and mac n cheese were just OK. Atmosphere was good. Loud, but very alive. If you are lookibg for BBQ, this is worth it. If you are looking for something romantic or quiet, keep going.
This is certainly the only location to talk about, the menus are different! I come here for Alabama Smoked White Wings (50cents each after 8pm), the sweet potato mash and those biscuits, which when you dip those biscuits in the mash! You can’t stop! The staff is always super friendly, this place definitely seems underrated! My favorite spot in the city, well worth the commute!
This place is awesome. The sides can be a little bit hit or miss, but generally have solid flavors. The real star of the show, however, are the wings drenched in the house Alabama white sauce. Half priced after 8:00 and delicious to the last bite. I always seem to over order and the waiters always give me a hard time for it in the most endearing way possible. If you need a good late evening spot for a relaxing meal of good meat with a group of friends or family, this is an excellent option. They usually have tables available, which is always nice in a city full of people waiting in ridiculous lines for mediocre food.
Are favorite place to have BBQ. When my wife and I moved up from VA to NYC we thought we would never get real BBQ again. Well, I was wrong. the servers are great (Most of them starving actors, writers, and artist), atmosphere is awesome, a little pricey but big, welcome to the Big Apple!
On a weeks trip to New York went here twice. Thats how good the food is. First time was a random walk up whilst looking where to eat from the top of 1WTC. This is clearly better than the restaurant they have up there.I had a perfect steak. Plus the beer and also Whiskey that was on special at the time.
My family and I came here late one night after crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. We googled food around us and this restaurant came up. This place is AMAZING. Their food was so tasty, and honestly like food I have never tasted before. I am sad I am vegan now, but if anyone is looking for some southern style soul food, this is the place to go! You guys should start offering vegan options too!!!!
A truly Southern experience. The service was super sweet and accommodating. The food was killer! The brisket really is tender and melt-in-your-mouth lovely! The madeleines are also such a delectable treat. I highly recommend the summer feast (basically a tasting). You get to try the best parts of the menu and then some! Make sure you come hungry!

2022-02-17If you’re a meat lover you will probably love it here. The meals are very hearty. I can do with or without meat which is probably why I didn’t love it. I was hoping one of the sauces would’ve been that sweet BBQ sauce flavor but they all had a bit of a spice and kick to them. The Brussels and Apple salad was ok. I was interested in trying the peanuts and cola pie as that’s their signature and unique dessert. I loved the authentic story behind the development of the dessert, but in itself I didn’t think it was that special. It was extremely rich, like way too rich- a very think, creamy texture. I did like the peanut brittle crunch. My favorite thing was the buttermilk biscuit.

2022-02-22The staff greeted us and sat us right away. We did have a reservation so that probably helped. Everyone was super friendly and the food and drinks were amazing. Several of us had the Spicy Chicken sandwich and since were from Texas we have some high standards for this dish. It was fantastic! And it turns out the chef is also from Texas so thats why it tasted like home. Definitely check this restaurant out if youre in the area!

2022-01-20Let me start by saying that the biscuits at Blue Smoke are the best Ive ever had in the entirety of my life. They are crunchy, buttery, lightly honeyed deliciousness on the entire outside, top and bottom, and fluffy, heavenly perfection inside. So effing good! I would come back, repeatedly, just to eat the biscuits. Every. Single. Day. Forever. Also, theyre HUGE and I dont understand how they even exist.Seriously though, everything we had was wonderful. The Alabama White Wings were super flavorful inside and out and cooked just right, not gooey at all. The Buttermilk Chicken Bites were absolutely ideal and exactly the flavor I dream of when I fantasize about buttermilk chicken; beautiful, flaky crust and tender, juicy white meat. The macaroni and cheese and collared greens were remarkable sides, worthy of the dishes they accompanied.I loved this place!!!

2022-06-19Great barbecue. Delicious cocktails and friendly staff. Everyone we encountered was so pleasant, makes the atmosphere so much nicer. Hands down one of the best mac snd cheese I have had at a restaurant. Also best beignets outside of New Orleans.

2022-05-03Excellent from the food to the service and I will definitely be back again to Blue Smoke. No drinks , I had cranberry juice and she had seltzer water with lime.Everything taste great and seasoned. Surprised how good the Mac n cheese was and the collard greens. We sat at the bar and server was gracious and attentive, she was the bomb. Didnt get her name, however she had on glasses.Great dinner, I wish I could say the same for the movie afterwards The Northman, we eventually walked out on it, dont even bother 😤 .

2022-02-22A very good spot if you enjoy and love Southern style cuisine. The meat is delicious and the drinks are superb. For dessert I had the Beignets and I loved them. They were nice and warm and equally crunchy.

2022-02-04As a native Southerner, the venues signature Blue Smoke burger was the best burger Ive ever had in my life. Biting into this thick, juicy burger was like biting into a slice of pure BBQ heaven. The mac n cheese was also thick, creamy, rich, and delicious, and the service was fast and friendly. 20/10 and 10/5. This dining experience is worth every penny, and is a must-try for any native New Yorker or tourist.

2022-04-26This is what dining out should look and feel like. Elevated hospitality to the point where you feel youre a guest at an old friends house. All the restaurant groups in NYC would do well by going to eat at a USHG Restaurant and take notes on how to interact with the guests and how to establish an enlightened experience.Bravo and shout out to our server Pico. Made us feel welcomed and valued with extraordinary attention to detail. Thank You and see you again soon.

2022-03-21I feared that they wouldn’t take me in because I made a reservation that was 8:30pm and the restaurant closes at 9pm. But luckily, they were quick to accept my reservation through the google app which made it easier to be assured a seat. The dishes were big and it was very fulling (the sparkling water bottle seemed very bougie) The servers were kind enough and patient.Reference of what we ordered: ERMA JEANS FRIED CHICKEN MEAL & MEMPHIS BABY BACK RIBS (half-rack) and a side of mashed potatoes.

2021-10-24Everything was excellent. The service was friendly and quick, the meat tender and juicy, and the sides rich and as good as they get. Both the pulled pork and ribs were heavenly. The Mac & cheese was thick, rich, and easily my favorite ever. The key lime pie was intense and fresh; the fresh zest on top was a nice touch.
