If I could give zero I would, so rude, asked to pay with cash, was berated for trying, no sign up to say no cash, just give me the card so I can get on with the order.. I was told ...I even asked the server to repeat what hed said ..he said exactly the same.. I told him to leave it and we left...Ive worked in catering for 20 years. .if I did this Id be fired.. get new staff ... disgusted to say the least
The worst service I have ever received in a coffee shop. Did not acknowledge I existed standing at the counter as he wandered around making door dash orders incredibly slowly. Then once order was made took 10 mins to make the coffee. I rarely am moved to write reviews but this was so so so bad.
Another great Australian style coffee outlet in the big apple. They use a different blend from the other purveyors we have sampled while here but its smooth and goes down well. This space has limited indoor seating but there is nearby seating outside.Youre looking at a bite sized menu or light breakfast with only a handful of options. Each are tasty but this isnt a filling lunch stop.Prices are slightly cheaper than some of their Australian style rivals. Be warned though the queue spikes in size quite rapidly (but thats also a ringing endorsement).4.5stars would brew again
I stopped here yesterday for an afternoon pick me up- this spot is really cute! It’s got a fresh Australian vibe, and they played great music. There’s not a whole lot of seating and they don’t offer wifi, so I recommend grabbing coffee/ food to go. I had the golden latte and an almond goji berry ball- both were good!
Great coffee great breakfast sandwiches, a little slow moving possibly due to the fact theres no menus upon walking in. Theyre located at the front of the line. If youre a regular and know what you like should be smooth, but slower for first timers. 4 stars for the food and beverages.
We are in town for the weekend and love exploring new coffee shops. Brittany took our order and was so helpful and patient when we were asking too many questions. We didnt even realize the line had grown behind us, she never made us feel rushed. She recommended her favorite drink for me and it is amazing. Great little coffee shop to come to.
Nice hot chocolate and salmon toast. I added the avocado spread which is good. I think they put too much lemon juice on it thou. Also this cafe is not so environmental-friendly that even when you dine in, the toast is packed in a box and the drink is served in paper cups. Even thou the box does look nice. Nonetheless its a nice cafe.
There was only one screen to order. The employees was doing the coffees and food for the costumers with out interrelate with the costumes. With this exception of calling by the name of the customer and leave the coffee in a table to go.The technology experience of this place is poor. The layout of the app its not user friendly so it make it the order slow and the line is huge not in a rush hour that does not makes any sense for a cafe in New York City! The avocado toast with Lots was good.Coffee was fine. The human experience in a cafe makes a big difference.
We ordered two toasts and got additional salmon sandwich which was so nice, thank you! Toasts tasted so gooood and and sandwich was good, personally not really a fan of salmon served with bread. It was saturday morning, filling up w people as time goes by. Quite spacious and staffs were kind! Near to Bryant part!
I wouldve given 4 stars because of the great tasting coffee, juice, and avo smash. However I have awarded 3 stars for the service for the following reasons:- I had ordered and paid for two 12 oz flat whites, 8 oz were made and the barista argued that I ordered 8 oz. They then relented after consulting a colleague and made me the 12 oz.- when ordering food and drink, its hard to know which counter to approach when your name is called.- the juices were overpriced at $9 for a small bottle.
This is my daily morning coffee spot, and it has been shortly after they opened about 2 years ago. I highly recommend because1) the coffee is great, 2) the team is nice and welcoming. I highly recommend asking for an iced caramel vanilla latte. Its not on the menu, but its THE BEST THING EVER.
Waitress was a stone cold non customer friendly robot who couldn’t even understand the Aussie dialect. After 40 minutes of waiting for 3 basic toast meals I questioned her on how long was the wait for our basic meals. She was so blank faced that she walked off without a reply to not even acknowledge a response. The “ must be “ manager then stepped in to apologize For the delay and refunded our money. It wasn’t about a refund. It was about service and customer satisfaction.Terrible first impression.I’m an Aussie from Melbourne and this place does not represent Melbourne in anyway. We received a third world welcome from the big apple.Total disaster.
Better than average NYC coffee (a relatively low bar) but I was a bit disappointed in the food. I had the avocado toast. The bread had a texture as if it had been toasted hours earlier and the poached eggs was cold. Not terrible, but appears not to be made-to-order. Underwhelming at $11.
A good coffee was served up on my second visit, the first time seemed to miss the level of attention and care paid to running a good shot of espresso. The Vegemite on toast was very enjoyable with butter, and the staff allowed me to spread the Vegemite myself, providing a generous amount in a small espresso cup.
Reached there at 10.30 on a Monday morning. The guy at the counter was lovely.A shame he was followed by an unfriendly, cold waitress. I felt like I had to beg her for a smile. When I asked her for a plate to eat my sandwich I felt like she had revolvers instead of eyes. Really, really not good at all.Food was good though - but the place was super crowded with papers and plastics on the tables.Won’t be back.
Coffee was ok, but if youre an aussie looking for a bit of home, this is not the place. We got coffee lukewarm like a lot of places back in Oz and then waited 25 minutes for a toastie that tasted nothing like aussie fare. So its just another American place with reasonable coffee, but would not recommend
I went to try the Avocado toast but unfortunately when I got there (which was an hour before closing) they said they dont serve food anymore in preparation for closing. Why do you stop serving food ONE WHOLE HOUR before closing.. Its not an elaborate and time consuming meal to make either, avocado toast is considered a fast meal. I was really disappointed about that. The cappuccino was good though. The location is really small and if its not nice outside (weather wise) theres nowhere to sit really so its more of a to-go coffee spot if the weather doesnt allow for outside seating.
My second coffee experience in New YorkSimply great coffee!!! A little expensive but isn’t in New York. From my experience Coffee for Americans has been good old filtered (dip) coffee until Starbucks came along... and to be really honest Starbucks is ok but not great... Australia and New Zealand have been doing coffee well for years (the little coffee shop) and this reminds me of a coffee that you would get from either of those countries.I can’t fault Bluestone too much as it is simply very good.PS someone said to me that it was start by an Aussie or Kiwi and maybe that’s why it hit my pallet.I would recommend this place to anyone. ☕️☕️☕️
Really liked the coffee, but things were a bit disorganized behind the counter. Could tell the guy pouring all the iced coffees wasnt in a good mood (happens to the best of us occasionally). When coffees arrived, no one knew what was what or whos was whos. Something Im sure theyll get better with over time - Growing pains...Ill give them another try. Definitely reminded me of the coffee I had in Australia. I wish em good luck and will re-review upon next visit.
As a coffee snob I have no choice but to review a little harder than I typically do. This place has a wonderful atmosphere - large glass windows in a small room allows for you to relax while people-watching in warmth. There were some cool coffee options such as Beet Coffee and other creative things, but I just ordered my standard breve. The breve was good, so I cannot complain there. The latte art was definitely made by a barista in training. My family ordered a cappuccino and a flat white - these two drinks were near indistinguishable, meaning that the technique used to make these drinks was off, so there are some docked points.I would go here again, but if the opportunity arose to try a different coffee shop I would.
Carlton and the staff totally took care of me when I came in with crutches. From the moment I walked in they took my order and told me to rest as I waited for my food. They then comped my bill and wished me a speedy recovery. Great food, amazing service - I cant wait to go back! Thanks again for a heartwarming experience.
It’s 11am and the cashier said we can only order one toast because they ran out of containers. She was short and curt about it, but allowed the people behind us to order anyway. I asked the barista about the roast level of the coffee he used for the cappuccino, medium or dark. His answer was “it’s an espresso blend” with a condescending attitude. I work in NYC so I’m used to city service but this was just bad.
I tried my first nitro cold brew here, which was pretty good. (They say the nitrogen makes it taste creamier, or something?) If nothing else, it made for a conversation-starter with my co-workers. Aside from the drink, the store is a cool space: very clean and modern design, with lots of glass, and the staff that helped us were genuine Australians, with accents and everything, which was quite charming. Id go back here again if I were in the neighborhood, but Im not sure Id do the nitro again, which seemed like more of a fun novelty than a drink that a person would want every day.
Avo Smash with the lot of toppings. I would eat it every day for lunch, if I would have money in my bank account leftover after doing so.Excellent, healthy food served by the most friendly people in Manhattan, often with equally friendly (Australian) accents in a cute, clean space. Perfect for a quick bite for lunch or grabbing morning coffee. The food and coffee isnt cheap, but its not designed to be. Its costs what youd expect it would for the quality it is and the quality of the business.Seriously though--get the avo smash with all the toppings. You wont regret it!
Worst customer service. I ask for a avocado toast and the empolyee said with an attitude “we dont have any toast, we close in 20 minutes.” I never asked what time they close. Also, the employee did my drink in an unwilling and hesitant way. Never going back to that location!
Exceptional design of the restruant and the food looks like works of art! I would happily return for coffee, pastries, salads or many other kinds of food that are on the menu. The staff was kind and helpful if you have questions about their menu. Would definatly reccomend to friends and family alike!
Had a quick bite for breakfast here, got one avocado toast, and one salmon lox toast. Both were prepared in to-go boxes, and we ate them outside in the courtyard seating area. Fast service, decent food, but a bit overpriced (particularly given the fast-food feel of this location).
Came here because Ive been desperately heartbroken after Pieface closed, taking their aussie iced coffee with them. Perhaps my favorite drink on this planet. So I got the aussie iced latte and was saddened to find it was just a small scoop of vanilla dumped in a latte, not blended. But nonetheless once it melted it became more creamy and more like Piefaces. Staff was nice and efficient although I did not go during rush. Would like to come back and try the toast. :)
Im a big fan of the Bluestone Lane Cafe on the Upper East Side, so Im not new to the offerings. This location is geared towards grab-and-go business, probably for busy Midtowners. The small space has just a few bar stools that face an open courtyard, youll see some people on laptops hanging out during the weekend. The coffee is always solid, representative of the Melbourne coffee culture, but the Avo Smash should not be missed. Its different from the one you get in the UES, this one has lemon juice, olive oil and chili flakes on top.
Update: Because of construction in the GRACE plaza, this location is now on the north side of 43rd St.—One of the smaller pocket outposts, find this one in the GRACE building plaza on 43rd St. This location is NOT on 42nd. Go to the corner of 43rd and 6th, on the Southeast corner. The service here is good and energetic. Great outdoor seating for nice weather.
Absolutely the best Avo Toast in the city, defined by copious amounts of tomato with chili flakes, lemon juice and olive oil. Gluten free toast is an excellent option for gf folks. Cold brew is a must, as is an iced chai (with Califia almond milk available). Savor nearby in Bryant Park.

2022-01-10I really enjoyed spending some time a few weeks ago at this little coffee shop. The service was so good and my flat white and blueberry muffin were delicious. They have a very small indoor seating area but my party made it work.

2021-12-17It’s ok. Environment is good. Avocado is from the refrigerator directly I guess. I am not picky to a cafe shop that I always just assume not for real good breakfast. The only thing I don’t understand why there is no price on the menu, even if I don’t really care that much. People should always see price on the menu.

2021-10-14I really like this Australian coffee shop chain aka bluestone lane because I can have gluten free avocado toast with poached eggs which I love. They have indoor seating but they don’t offer table service and the food is served on plastic boxes (I wish they didn’t. Plates would have been better). The avocado toast had too much black pepper on it and in need for salt (which I have asked for ).

2022-05-19Busy hours in weekday afternoon there’s only one person taking order and making coffee. She prioritized orders after me. I called her out and she basically told me just because their order is simpler (hot coffee) than mine (a hot latte). She kept doing so to service others for pastries and kept me waiting. So this is telling me to not order hot coffee at a coffee shop? Then she gave me bad attitude and was sloppy spilled my coffee. Messy operation and management. My office is close but I’ll never go back. So many better options, why bother to deal with such terrible experience🙄

2022-04-20Cute Australian coffee chain. I had the iced mocha and it was delicious. Some seating here which can get occupied quick. Must try! Came back to try cold brew float, chocolate float and flat white. All were delicious.

2022-05-25Great coffee. Good flat white. Wasnt a fan of the attitude when only 2 out of the 3 coffees ordered were provided, and when followed up was told we got them all (only to learn we didnt).

2022-05-07The people working here really cool whenever I need to over caffeinate myself. I come here in the morning and before I look up for my desk at 6:00 p.m. I would much prefer the music that we listen to prior to opening more of a hip hop genre to the cheeky rock that plays all day. Remember its all about magic City

2020-10-03Arguably the best coffee in NYC, Bluestone is always a safe bet for strong, well made espresso based drinks. This one is now (Oct 2020) doing limited indoor dining and its worth it for the snacks. The croissants with fillings are delicious and the box they come in is ingenious.

2019-01-20Beautiful location with lots of light and plenty of outdoor sitting. My latte was amazingly delicious and absolutely gorgeous. My husband couldn’t say enough good things about his mocha. The foam was silky and smooth. Barista was very friendly and did an amazing job with both drinks.
