I enjoy the food at this restaurant. The style of cooking is Shanghai and Szechuan. We has the pork belly and preserved vegetable yesterday. I liked it better compared to Szechuan, Cantonese and Teochew style of cooking. I think has to do with the seasoning. The way of cooking I believe is about the same, it comes out looking the same. The noodle dishes Ive tried are good too.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the food at Blue Wave. Many restaurants have come and gone in this location, as they fell short unfortunately, but Blue Wave stands out among them. The service was fast, staff was friendly, safety measures were established and most importantly the food was excellent. The menu does not look like your typical take-out place, focusing more on sit-down dishes and portions. However, they do Shanghai cuisine very well and I recommend their take-out until dining-in is available. I will definitely be back to try more.
Finally a real authentic Shanghai restaurant in North Hempstead area. Simple Shanghai dishes menu, very reasonable prices. Free Shanghai style soup filled dumplings with $30 purchase, deal still good. Been there with family 3 times already within the last 2 months. Love the place, easy parking. Wish they could serve beer too.
On Hillside Avenue, got to stop by for the soft opening. Its a quaint, quiet place. Prices are comparable to Flushing, on the higher end. While somewhat okay, food presentation and cleanliness was a big plus. Soup dumplings were free with $20+ tab. More meat than soup. Skin is perfectly done. The buns were not too oily and they took notice of the little things. Big plus. This place just opened and it wouldnt be fair to critique it based on a brunch sitting. Stay tuned for better reviews.
Food quality is great and so are those dumplings. However, I do not think I will ever sit down again after the ridiculous prices they charged me.General Tsos- rice wasnt included had to pay 3 dollars for that. How do you not include rice?Their staple Chinese menu has Chicken + Garlic Sauce for 11.95 (dinner). Asked to add eggplant to the dish, was charged 5 dollars. 5 dollars for a couple of strips of eggplant?
Nice place, their equivalent of Shanghai food is more village based from a particular region. Lacks certain well known Shanghai flavors and substituting with typical American chinese sauces. Their soup dumplings was certainly not Joes Shanghai, but not terrible either.
Great food. A few items were cooked a little bit more to suit non-Asian customers but its nice to find a place outside of Chinatown that has authentic Chinese flavors. The style of cuisine appears to be a mix of Shanghai, Cantonese, and Szechuan. Cant wait to go back and try some unfamiliar items!
LOVE the food here. It apparently opened 2 months ago and went with husband last week. Brought the whole family tonight and everyone loved the food. Its a small place so you may have to wait if you dont come early- but is worth the wait. They have a non-typical Chinese menu but will also prepare the usual dishes. Only downside is no liquor served- but tea on table is excellent and they have soda.
BlueWave is one of the few places you can get freshly made Xiao Long Bao East of the Nassau / Queens border. I hate to say it but they are not impressive. The flavoring seems to be off. The soup in the dumplings lack a certain richness and the seasoning is a little light. We also ordered the jelly fish salad appetizer, smoked fish, sugar and vinegar pork chops, fish filet in spicy bean sauce, and the soybean & squash with wheat gluten, Chinese celery with pork and tofu and pan fried shanghai udon and West lake beef soup. The best tasting dishs was the smoked fish and Shanghai udon. The rest seemed to be a little off in flavoring. The jelly fish salad would normally be seasoned with a little sugar and vinegar, here it was seasoned with some salt. The celery dish was missing work hei...or enough heat during the cooking process to really bring out the flavors of the dish. The soup was lacking salt...I really enjoyed the friendly fast service here, but there is room for improvement in the dishes.
This may be the hardest churros in New York I have ever eaten. (Its not an old fried dough stick, it hasnt been developed at all) Its impossible for other fried dough sticks to be made like this. This is worse than freezing in supermarkets. This is the hardest Chinese fried dough I have ever tasted. It tastes even worse than those frozen kinds I bought from supermarkets.

Not all together.May return for the dumplings only.

2022-05-12Pan fried buns are all burnt and I didnt discover this until I came home. This is something that the kitchen should look at before packing all the food up. For the prices that I am paying, this is not acceptable.

2019-03-10If youre looking for a legitimate, though somewhat small, sit down Chinese restaurant in Williston Park, this is the place to go. This place had all tables filled by 1PM. The place only opened at noon! The food is authentic, flavourful, and down right fantastic. Nothing was overly greasy, or salty, which tends to happen in some Chinese restaurants. Food was prepared fresh, and was generous. Pricing is on par with other Chinese restaurants based on LI. Staff was attentive with taking orders, clearing plates, and getting me the check quickly.Overall Im excited about the place and would definitely come back to try the other items on the menu. Please see my pictures for the items I ate today. Not pictured was the scallion pancake. Made fresh, not oily, but was too hungry, and started eating it before picture was taken.

2019-08-21If you like Chinese food that is a bit on the salty side, this is the place for you. The food is pretty authentic and select dishes Ive had are pretty tasty. One of the most attractive part of this restaurant is that if you order anything more than $11 you get free soup dumplings! Now that is a good deal! I had the braised pork with preserved vegetables and it was delicious and Well Done compared to other Chinese restaurants. The additional cost of $1.50 for brown rice is pretty standard and definitely recommended to go with some of these salty food items this restaurant tends to Produce. This place is perfect if you need lots of sodium and help drinking lot of fluids after a good workout because you are going to be thirsty for the next few hours and allow you to hydrate.lol

2019-07-08Great local place that has authentic Chinese food that you would normally have to travel into queens to get. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. The free soup dumplings as appetizer was excellent.

2021-10-09Because of the covid restrictions we can no longer visit Little Dumplings in Queens. But, as the saying goes, everything that happens, its for the best. Stopped by this little gem for lunch today. Have to say that both my husband and I are foodies. We ordered a tray of dumplings, scallion pancake and rice pan fried rice noodles with chicken. Our mistake, because we thought we were ordering crispy noodles with chicken. The dumplings are tasty, tender and simply delicious!!!! The sauce for the dumplings can use some ginger. It tasted like a plain soy sauce. Scallion pancake was the best Ive ever tasted!! Light, crispy, delicate, not greasy at all!!! Then there is noodles. We expected something like fried noodles, but this was different. More ...like the low main...but more delicate and tastier. We will be back!!!

2019-10-03They have both Sichuan food and Shanghai food on manu but I would suggest stick with shanghai food. Their Sichuan food is not authentic. I am impressed with their Shanghai food. Plus you get from soup dumplings with $20 spending.
