Bobby Vans in other cities:
Decent place to eat at Terminal 8@JFK. They are right past the security check point and they accept priority passes as well. Decent food with good portion size and an average service. Do let them know if you are in a rush and they will try to accommodate your order asap.
I mean, it’s ok. The food is passable and probably better than anything else you can get in this terminal (including lounges). The steaks are decent but you can tell it wasn’t probably cooked well or maybe it was partially cooked before being transporting to the restaurant. If you have Priority Pass (excluding AMEX customers), you can get $28 off a meal here for you as well as for one guest. It’s great if you don’t want to break the bank eating at an airport or don’t have lounge access to the Admirals or Flagship clubs.
What can I say. Came in for breakfast. Staff not attentive. Said it’s a New York law not to serve Bloody Mary until 10am … I checked the law and it was 8am. Food low key mid at best. Ordered poached eggs … and they came back hard boiled egg porridge. I feel bad for Bobby at this point.
I came here because of the priority pass offering of $28 a person (up to $56) if you have a guest. I ordered the burger here for myself and 2 for my family for our flight. While it did take about 20 minutes to make which can be a bit long for an airport, it was well worth it in the end.I wasnt expecting much especially for take-out and running to get to the plane, but WOW this burger was the best I think I ever had - and my family agreed to the fullest. To be honest, I was sad I had to eat it quickly on the plane to avoid it getting soggy, because this burger needed to be savored with every bite.If I could give this 10 stars I would. Not only for the burger quality but for the awesome service which even allowed us to use my priority pass credit for a to-go order (some places dont allow this). I will 1000% be coming back to a Bobby Vans now, and probably will get a burger and also try the steak.
Had no choice but to go to Bobby Van’s due to the LoungeKey limited options in the terminal 8 JFK.If you have LoungeKey, you’d be entitled for 28$ off the bill. The place isn’t an airport lounge as you may expect. It is a regular restaurant with waiters and menu. What was good:1. The staff was nice and polite.2. Food portions are huge. Even salads arrive enormously big.3. Service is fast.4. Free water with ice.5. Discount of 28$ with LoungeKeyWhat wasn’t good:1. Free wifi isn’t reaching the restaurant, so you’d be cut off from connection while being there2. Food could taste significantly better. I took a burger and it was poorly assembled (huge piece of lettuce, huge slice of onion, giant unseasoned beef patty)3. French fries and onion rings weren’t delicious. That being said, if you can compromise on taste and quality, this place is for you.
JFK airport has a very good steakhouse on site. If youre travelling through JFK and you have 30-60min that you can spend getting a quality meal, I highly recommend Bobby Vans. They have several steak options in addition to a wide variety of other equally fabulous meals. They have a good variety if wines and beers, and a full bar if youd like a mixed drink. It is a little expensive but compared to other airport food prices (and quality), its a good buy. Their service is outstanding and you can have a good time with them.
Delicious burger, good service (about 30 minutes for food arrival), NYC+ prices... but a nice getaway if you have a Chase Priority Pass and can get $28 credit each towards the menu. We got 2 burgers and a coke and owed $4 plus tip. Burger was well seasoned and thick with high quality tomatoe, onions, and lettuce. Included a large portion of fries. Restaurant is nice and quiet with reasonable spaced tables. Easy to find, first thing on your right after security. Would I want to pay $60 plus tip for 2 burgers/fries and one soda? No but very pleased as a Priority Pass alternative (no participating lounges in Terminal 8).
Only came here because of the $28/person credit I got through my Priority Pass card.Ordered a burger cooked medium with fries & onion rings, a Coke, and a cheese quesadilla. Coke comes out flat. 10 minutes later, waiter returns and says theyve run out of tortillas for the cheese quesadilla. Then my burger arrives - cooked well done, accompanied by stale fries and stale onion rings. Instead of a cheese quesadilla, we ordered a veggie burger - it took another 20 minutes to make. It arrives. It is horrendous, the fries with it are also stale, and there are no onion rings.Come on Bobby. Especially at these prices, you can do better!
Had an amazing dinner here before our flight - we had a couple of beers, wings and a burger to share as the portions are a good size 👍 A little bit pricey but it’s what I expect at an airport restaurant (and in NYC in general). Our server was José V and he was so excellent, very attentive and fast with our orders. Really great experience overall!
It was extremely hot in the back of the restaurant to the point where I was sweating at my table. I ordered the Tuna rare and it was brought well done. I didn’t have time to wait for them to fix it. Basically ate what tasted like canned tuna for $40 and a total check of $90 for a salad and main course. Not worth going here.
Best of no options in T8. In a Terminal with zero options, this is the only decent restaurant. Food is oversized and overpriced. I was here twice during a layover and honestly if there was another option, I’d take it! Both my steak and salmon were overcooked, margaritas were served in a short glass - at $18 each a whole glass would be nice. Honestly T8 needs better options, if you are the only decent choice of course you put the price up.
Worst customer service and food ever. Poor quality food for this absurd price. Cheap can food disguised as fine dinning. Appetizer never came, waitress bring the food without cutlery, we have to wait for our cutlery to eat till our food was cold. Last but not least the water was serve and the and there was an order receipt inside the water pitcher. The trash fell on the glass when she served the water. Tragically we were the last ones to be served so everyone has water with trash and didnt notice it until the trash fell on our glass. Yes trash on the water pitcher!! And at the end she demanded the service charge tip. 🤡
We felt very discriminated here as Asians. The three employees at the front would not entertain us, let alone, look at us!!! The Chinese server helping other customers was the only one who helped us and pointed us to the where we can order. They would not even allow us to sit down since we are ordering To-go Porterhouse and Lobster Ravioli. The receptionist was very controlling, insisting we stand by the door only!!! Extremely bad experience!!! Very discriminating servers and receptionist!!!! Seems like a good place but employees there made our experience very bad. Thanks to the only Asian server who helped us. It took 30minutes standing in a corner to wait on a take out order.
Burger was very juicy and the filet mignon was very tender. Wait staffs were attentive. The only slight negative is the wait time for the meal. We waited over 30 mins for the food to reach the table.Actually menu and online menu are slightly different but is understandable in the time of Covid. They also actually the Priority Pass for $28 meal credit.
Overall would not recommend this restaurant ever. I had a 15m wait before even being seated in a fairly empty restaurant. They lacked many things that I felt where basics. There were few/no accessible plug points or usb points to charge devices (in an airport lounge, in the 21st century?). There was no smoking zone and perhaps worst of all, no bathroom. the only bathroom is a public stall outside the resturant. They had no WiFi either. In terms of food, my burger was charred and served with not a drop of sauce in sight (a dry burger). There was no sanitizer or wipes provided without special request after recieving the food. Lastly the waiter took my card without asking or communicating. In my country, where there is a lot of card fraud, its not normal for the card holder to ever let go of their card or letting it out of sight. The waiter just took my card as soon as I took it out. Many people from where Im from would have freaked at just that, but I know in America its more normal for the staff to take the card. (Although I would expect a fancy steakhouse at an airport to know something about international courtesy differences - which you must have to deal with daily) I was okay, being familiar with the American custom, but I would have still appreciated a check or some verbal communication, not just grabbing it and walking away. The overall staff impression was unprofessional. I even overheard a staff member joking about how he slipped and was calling a customer stupid while using a system, then caught himself realising he was speaking to a customer. But that he decided he didnt care. They giggled together. Whilst there I also overheard other customers grumble. But it is anecdotal I guess.I couldnt help but imagine this place on an episode of kitchen nightmares with Gordon Ramsay.
Food as awful. “Grilled chicken” was reheated mush. Caesar salad was bland. They didn’t tell me my Priority Pass credit was no longer accepted until after the bill came. Servers were prompt & polite. Servers were polite but the management is giving them a garbage product to deliver.
I was flying out of JFK and my delta plane was delayed at terminal 2, so I took the AirTrain to terminal 8 I am Tsa Precheck so it was a breeze getting though security, the Bobby van’s grill is right next to security. The service was unlike any I have received at an airport restaurant I had breakfast and it was on point. Kudos to the restaurant staff and rahman the waiter.
Got seated at the bar straight away - there were tables available too but I was told the service would be slower there. Not a problem. Drinks were great and my food order was taken quickly. Ordered a burger medium rare but it was cooked medium. Other than that it tasted good. My neighbor ordered his medium and it was medium well - so I’m guessing just order one level less-done? 😆
If you’re in the terminal waiting for a flight, and you want a serviceable veggie burger with fresh avocado or a splendid Niçoise salad and a cocktail, this is the place. The service was efficient and polite. I thought the salad was scrumptious, although I’d never had one of that kind before. It’s at the airport price.
One of the most bland and forgettable Caesar salads I’ve ever had. Sparse amount of tasteless dressing, limp greens (primarily the ribs), tiny mass manufactured croutons and tasteless rubber chicken pieces. Not at all what I expected having read the online description of the restaurant. I will never go there again while at JFK.
Well located near the customs. The service is hood and the atmosphere pleasant but the food is average:I tried the lobster ravioli. The ravioli pasta is too thick and a bit spongy. You wont find any lobster pieces inside the ravioli. The cream sauce is a bit too thick.Nothing horrible but no soul in this cookingThe staff is perfect
My expectations for this Bobby Vans location was pretty low, given that its located at the airport and the bad reviews floating out there doesnt help either. But this is the Priority Pass lounge at Terminal 8, so doesnt hurt to check it out.We ordered the burger, wings , beer, sauted spinach (that never came, and later cancelled)Contrary to some reviews Ive read, both the food and service was decent.Would we have dine here if we didnt have the priority pass? Probably not.
Like most of the people that eat here, I have priority pass, but thank God I didnt pay for that... I had the veggie burger, which was the worst I ever had, fries were mushy and super hot because they just got reheated. And if you have less than 1h30, dont even think about it.
The absolute grift level prices at the place should be illegal. I travel a lot. I’ve been to hundreds of airport bars. The prices they are charging here for drinks are absolutely beyond the pale. $6.99 retail bottles of wine for $70, $28 rum and coke - gtfo. I did the math on this Rufino Chianti I use for cooking at home - they charge $40 a half bottle which by my math is $160 for. 1.5L I typically pay $8.99 for. I get that it’s an airport but people should be put in jail for this sort of thing.
This restaurant is part of priority pass. I’m not sure it’s worth visiting even with the $28 credit since you still have to pay out of pocket for gratuity.I came before the rush so was promptly seated. My waiter was great, he was attentive and patient. The food however is unpalatable.I got the steak that come with a side. I ordered medium rare but what came out was medium well. I basically left 2/3 uneaten because it was so dried. Why would anyone slice the steak beforehand? I didn’t order from the kid’s menu. How could a grill place not know to let the steak rest. There isn’t even a slick of meat juice. They also didn’t give me a real steak knife so my hand is sore from sawing the dry piece of cardboard.
After 29 hours of travelling, Bobby Vans was the perfect place for dinner during my layover at JFK! I got Bobbys Famous 12oz Burger with bacon and a side of fries. It was delicious and the restaurant staff were great. My waitress was wonderful - very attentive and patient while I looked at the menu. Despite being exhausted from international travel, I thoroughly enjoyed dining here!
Well, the service is pretty good. Very polite and helpful, however it can get busy, and that is the problem. I had a few hours to kill waiting for my flight and so was in no hurry. They actually ask when they seat you. First, they tried to stack us in the front. I had to request twice to be moved to proper seating. Seems the back staff is better trained and the rear wait staff is better than the hostess/waitress. The gentleman seated us quickly with no problem.Anyhum, after that the hostess/waitress brought us our water. Check your water glass. My water glass was utterly disgusting. See the picture below. The glass had something I cant imagine on it. Then after replacing it, the ice had some fleck in it. Even when it was replaced, the second glass wasnt.Sooooo...when the meal came, 2 out of the 4 - 1/2 chicken dinners we ordered were extremely undercooked. Like health risk undercooked. We picked at them and ate them, and I know we were priority pass diners but I mean the food does have to be cooked properly. All in all I wouldnt call it a horrible experience, but they have some things to work on too. Just watch your food and dishes as a diner at the steak house.
Not worth the price.Food quality was a bit bad. Meet looked like old, like, cooked way earlier and then just reheated.Mushroom sauce tasted really good.Bread felt old.Waiters are good but looks like they struggle to keep up with the demand of people, maybe more waiters are needed?
Great place to grab a bite to eat before a flight. I had the seared ahi tuna with the most delicious sauteed brocolli. The tuna was great too as well as the dipping sauce. My dining partner had the Jack Daniels burger and it was juicy had a nice sauce. Portion was pretty large. The calamari appetizer was good but could use some more spice. I would definitely return when flying through JFK.
Served the wrong order and had to send back the turkey club I did order because the bread was stale and chewy and the fries had no salt on them. I expect something at least a little bit tasty for these prices and at a restaurant that at least pretends to be upscale. Standard disappointing airport food.
Zero stars. Steakhouse that microwaves their steaks and sells them for $55? We came here excited to eat some steak while traveling. We ordered Porter steak cooked medium. When we got it, the steak was nicely cooked on one side and literally microwaved for 30-60 seconds on the other. It was raw on the inside. We pointed it out to the server and she took it back. In 15 min we get our steak back all chopped in pieces and looking like they cooked it in a microwave for another 5 min. It was broiled and blood was caked on the sides. This restaurant shouldn’t be allowed to operate as a steakhouse.
I’m giving 3 stars because this is in fact an overpriced airport restaurant. The service above average but we were there when it wasn’t very busy. The place was out of every soft drink because someone didn’t put a the order for CO2 🙄 i guess if you like water, lemonade, or tea then you are not annoyed by this simple supply chain mishap. This wasn’t our waitress fault! The burger is huge! So huge that you can easily share it and not feel guilty, yet still satisfied (the burger is also $18). The fries could be crispier (for my personal taste) but the flavor is pretty darn good.
Packed and busy place in the airport. Barely any space to sit and there was a long wait - about 40 minutes at the entrance. Ended up getting a spot at the bar and it took at least ten minutes to have my order taken. Way too busy and not enough workers here for sure. Food was ok but nothing special. Since its in an international airport youd think theyd be able to handle cash transactions with large denomination bills for the people who just converted money and cant use their cards here, right? Nope. Paid with a large bill and they gave themselves a nice tip. Didnt realize theyd take the tip themselves.. but I had to catch a plane and it would have taken another 20 minutes to get someone to talk to. Way too jam packed to be worth eating here.
Its a good deal with Priority Pass. You get $28 and if youre with a guest they also get $28 so $56 off total bill. We got a sirloin 16 oz steak with a side of mashed potatoes and also sauteed spinach. The steak was decent and the mashed potatoes were good but the spinach was so salty. Service was quick and the ambience is nice and old boys club feeling.
Get there early, friends. Best to avoid ordering a burger 30 minutes before the flight. Get here an hour or earlier! The burgers are fresh and they gear towards medium rare for a quicker turnaround. However, its still meat and it takes time to cook.If youre in a rush, ask the servers for food thats quick to make. With Priority Pass, the burger and drink is roughly $5 with tax and tip, without roughly $33, in line with per diem. Not cheap, but decent food. Also its an airport so menu is different than the Bobby Vans that are landside.
I waited to be attended by a waiter for more than 10min after being seated when it wasnt even busy. I eventually complained to the host who ended up serving me herself. Had the sliced steak sandwich, which was pretty disappointing. Meat is meant to be filet mignon but I highly doubt it was. Bread was charred black at the corners. Nowhere near worth the prices they charge.
Price was high for mediocre food. Only positive about going here is if you have priority pass because you get $28 off the bill for you and a guest, which totals to $56 off.I found it unusual too that a steakhouse carry any knives aside from a butter knife. Makes it a chore to cut through the steaks!
Avoid the steaks. Ive been to the other ones in the city and the steak is much better there. Its probably something about the airport not allowing them to have a proper grill. However, their other dishes are pretty good. Favorites include the chicken and lobster ravioli (pictured).
Bobby Vans is in terminal 8 and they accept the priority pass here. Its located right on the right hand side after you pass security check. I mainly enjoy the drinks and the staff is friendly. They will serve you fast and help you dont have too much time before the flight.
Nothing to write home about. Burger was decent, fries lacking and cold. Beer prices were reasonable. Service not too bad. Hard to believe this place gets to call itself a Bobby Van establishment... but this place was an improvement over the rest of this horrible airport.
The food was pretty mediocre considering the prices. Minimal flavour and rough presentation. It looked like the food was trying to be a people pleaser and it lacked any sort of character because of that. Theres plenty of seating though if you have a large crowd and they do have high chairs.
Worst place....service suck! I ordered the parfait and muffin breakfast and grapefruit juice. I never got my breakfast and they didn’t even check on me. I was the only one in the restaurant not eating. I got up to leave and the waiter said “thanks for coming”.... I told him I’m only paying for the juice and he’s asking if “I didn’t get my food?” I looked at him like he’s crazy....he was supposed to bring me my food. That place SUCKS!
Came here an hour and 45 mins before my 12:30pm flight hoping for something good to eat before my 6 hour trip home (I hadnt eaten that day yet). It might have been severely understaffed or my waitress forgot to put my order in. After I ordered it took an hour for my food to come out and it was so unseasoned and average, but it was about $50. I ordered the shrimp scampi with mashed potatoes and asparagus with a coke, and had about 3 bites of the mashed potatoes and asparagus and basically picked the shrimp out so I wouldnt miss my flight. On the flight my stomach started gurgling and ever since Ive had digestive issues... pissed is an understatement
On November 22nd I had lunch at the counter before boardingmy flight to Madrid. After take off I reached for my wallettand found that I had lost it.Corey, the restaurant manager, called my cell to let me know hehad the wallett. My New York office arranged to pick it up.I will be forever grateful to him!!! Hes a super guy and a realcredit to Bobby Vans.
Finally a great lounge alternative in terminal 8 of JFK. Good food, reasonable prices and quick service. Plus the credits available with a priority pass means a sandwich and a beer and people watching instead of trying to cram into the already overcrowded admirals clubs. Right after security too so cant miss it.
I visited this Bobby Vans with my wife the morning of 9/26/21 looking for a quick breakfast. We chose this place because we had a credit with chase Priority pass. Upon entering i noticed a plaque above the bar commemorating this Bobby Vans for airport concession excellence in 2016 verified by some unknown agency. I didnt know if i should at this point be excited over this past verification or worried about the fall from grace given the lack of subsequent yearly awards. Our waiter introduced himself as Bobby, but was thoughtful in clarifying that he was not The Bobby Van himself, which helped us avoid any confusion. He quickly took our orders: eggs saugsage, home fries and an espresso. As we waited i took note of the ambience. A wooden panel decor sticking itself out as elegant vs the modern look of JFK airport. The playlist consisted primarily of Billy Joel leaning towards the late 80s, mixed with other classic american road tripping hits. Overall a well placed vibe breaking away from the airport hustle and bustle. My espresso came out first. Upon the first sip i knew it was the worst espresso i ever had. Harsh tasting and lacking the caffeine kick. I no longer questioned the decision of the patron next to me on ordering a sam adams at 9am. Ultimately, i do not deduct stars for this espresso. I have no right ordering such a drink at a Bobby Vans at Jfk. It would feel like driving into Nyc and complaining about the traffic. Certain things you just need to expect, and overall I commend them even having espresso to offer rather than none at all.Next came our food. Overall it met my expectations of a terminal 8 Bobby vans. Serviceable eggs, non warm toast, decent clearly pre frozen sausage, and home fries that looked excellent but lacked the crispiness and instead left a soggy texture on first bite. The serving size was suitable but you ultimately are left with the decision of do i really need to eat more, or did i eat enough to get through my flight, given the food quality was average. As we wrapped up our meals Bobby (the waiter) came back over and handed us our check, before we even had to ask! We gave him our card and he informed us that our priority pass credit covered the whole meal - so he only had to charge 8 dollars in gratuity! We thanked Bobby signed the check and continued on our journey.Summing it all up: subpar airport food, in a great location, with warm ambiance, and excellent service for only 8 dollars - it made me land very strongly on a 4 star review. I recomend this location to any travelers in terminal 8. Make sure you say hi to Bobby when you are there! Thanks
When I ate at the JFK Bobby Vans, the food was very good and expensive. However, the service was really bad. It was slow and unresponsive. Wait staff was apologetic, but that didnt help. I think they were understaffed and confused. Bobby Vans is one of the very few dining choices at Terminal 8, but I will not return.
It is a place with a very good service, the waiters are always attentive to what the customer needs. The Burger in Jack Daniel’s Sauce is excellent and comes with fries and onions.Samuel Adams beer it’s great !It is the only place where you can use the Priority Pass card in terminal 8 of the JFK.The biosecurity measures are good.
The best burger I’ve ever had in an airport ! And a great burger overall anywhere. The breakfast burger is a beast. It’s good for sharing, and cooked perfectly !!!We also had eggs over medium with sausage and home fries. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The wheat bread was a little sad but I’ll take it over other meals I’ve had at LGA anytime. We had had coffee and a mimosa. And with the priority pass this meal was a steal. If you do t have that card, and you travel a lot, GET IT NOW !
👍No complaint about the service.🍔 The burger was truly horrendous, it looks far better then it tasted. Somehow it had juice but lacked actual beef flavour.🍟Fries were re-fried or kept under a lamp for a while so they were soggy. In summary, dont eat here or at this airport. I ate a better burger and fries at times square mcdolands for one fifth the price.
I didn’t really get the bad reviews here. It’s an airport restaurant of a fairly solid NYC steakhouse so maybe not the the same exact quality. I coincidentally ate at their broad street restaurant two days before going to this one and while there was a slight drop in quality and service, it wasn’t enough for me to change the rating I gave at the other location. Not ideal if you’re in a rush perhaps but still good food. They’re smart enough to ask for what time your flight leaves at so they must prioritize in the kitchen or make sure there’s ample time to catch your flight. I thought it was good enough for 4 stars although, as in the city, it’s fairly pricey and I wished they had a larger bar selection of whiskeys.
We chose this restaurant as Priority Pass gives you $28/person off your bill. We ordered the Greek salad, spare rib and roasted chicken. The salad was OK, but the mains were delicious. Only reason I am taking a star off is that the service was very slow considering the place was quite empty. Other reviewers have mentioned this too, so seems like something they should address.
Airport restaurants are never perfect. Appreciate that staff were very helpful and kind to us. Food was okay and portions were quite large. This is also a priority pass location, so you get a food credit for around $28. Not too many healthy items on the menu during breakfast.
The food is average. I had the hummus which was a nice appetizer. The Cobb salad was good and chicken on it plentiful. The service was so slow I had to get my food to go. In particular for an airport location I was disappointed with the speed at which I was helped. Unfortunately they did not have a sense of urgency. Ambiance is nice and enough away from the hustle and bustle of the airport to be relaxing.
Nice staff! Attentive but not overly so. Generous portions. I had a Harrys Salad add steak. I assumed there would be lettuce/greens in it, but it was primarily chopped tomato, plus a small amount of green bean, shrimp, bell pepper, red onion, and bacon. The steak strips were awesome and a good value as an add-on.
Pretty decent food. The burger is huge but just tastes like meat. No special seasoning, grilling or flavor. The last two times we were there, the service was mixed. The most recent time, our server all but ignored us after one of the cooks served our food. Having run out of our drinks, we took to thawing the ice in our mouths so that we could slake our thirst and continue eating our food. Sure, I could have gotten up and chased the server down. It wasnt crowded at all. But that would have interrupted his chatting and texting.
Had lunch in between flights - meatloaf and a salad. The food is good - outstanding by airport standards. Its not cheap though - that plus a Titos and tonic was $38 before tip. But it is a regular restaurant in an airport, so thats to be expected. They have everything from apps to salads to hamburgers to steaks, as well as some non-traditional offerings. Oscar at the bar took care of me, did a good job.
Food was really good but the service was lackluster. Was greeted and told to take high top and when I complained was given the look. Waited for many minutes before greeted by wait person. Drink order was slow. Food order was slow. Check was slow. Saw several employees sitting at bar and talking or looking at phones. Management needs to step up. Its an airport. For a $24 steak sandwich I require excellent service. Please fix and I will return.
I can’t even rate the food because we were never actually served. The hostess seemed annoyed from the moment we walked in the place. She even rolled her eyes when she sat us. She sat us in a booth in the back part of the restaurant and gave us menus. I told my husband to order me a drink while I went to the restroom and when I got back, no one had even spoken to him. We waited a few more minutes and servers just kept walking past us and completely ignoring us. It was not busy at all. The servers were eating food at the empty bar top and rolling silverware while we were about five feet away. I have never been more disrespected in my life. I don’t expect much from airport service, but this was ridiculous. I’m a very understanding person, but am extremely upset over the entire situation. I would rate a 0 if I could. I honestly hope that no one ever goes to their restaurant ever again, and they are forced to shut down!
Decided to have Lunch here before our trip to Italy. I was pleasantly surprised with the service and food. I see others have not been pleased with the service, but I did not experience that. Look, it is an airport restaurant, so the price is influenced by this fact and you have to expect a bit of a difference in service compared to what you would find elsewhere. That being said, it was a good lunch and thank god we did it since we were served some inedible food by American Airlines on our flight to Rome. Having lunch here made it easy to just reject the compost that American put on out trays for dinner.
This site forces you to check a star so be aware this is a zero. The service and food is not only a disgrace to what elsewhere is a pretty good steak house but does discredit to what is supposed to be American Airlines’ flagship terminal.Ignored at the host stand even being the only person waiting then eventually got seated and eventually a server came to my table and then only after another staff member asked if I was still waiting. Hand written tabs written by servers - mine returned three times to the host stand to get a pencil that worked.......... then I had to dictate one syllable at a time what I wanted to order ..... and still had the server return to ask if I wanted ice in my water. Ice water dictated slowly is hard to get wrong. But of course my beer choice was delivered incorrectly and sent back.As for the food it was cold congealed and the only positive thing was that they had warmed the plate. Pity they did not do the same for the food.Advice other travellers ... avoid. I feel very sorry for the three tables who arrived after me and were still trying to get a server to deal with them when I left.
The food and service were just as good at this airport location as it would have been at a location outside the airport. We had burgers all around, which were seasoned very well. we have the priority pass through our credit cards, and we were able to use them here, and essentially get our meals for free. if wine out of this terminal again in the future, we would definitely eat here.
Had a decent burger here, at the bar, with a nice glass of Australian Shiraz. Staff was efficient and friendly; the place provided a welcome stop on the way to my gate. It gets a bit crowded on occasion, but among the seasoned travelling crowd that frequents the place thats no problem at all.
Took 3 attempts to cook a medium burger & none of the severs could get my order correct without onions or tomatoes. When you get service waiters are friendly but getting their attention is almost impossible. Best option available at the airport but Bobby Van should protect his name & reputation & sort the restaurant out
Im in the restaurant business so Im leaving this review more for the management than the customer. I ordered the $18 Morning Burger medium rare and it came out Medium Well. I cut it in half and displayed it face up for either of the bartenders to see in hopes they would inquire how it tasted, but that didnt happen. As a high-end steakhouse I would expect better attention to detail.
Very basic food, and overpriced, of course. But you are at an airport so you can expect that. The problem is that the service takes a really long time, and not only in bringing the food, but also in taking the orders. You have to allow plenty of time if you want to make it to your flight.I went there for breakfast and the place was not very crowded, and it still took about 15 minutes for someone to come take the order, and another 10 once I was done to get the check. If you go with Priority Pass it makes sense because at least you get 28 dollars off. Otherwise, you can simply go to any other bar in the terminal.
Horribly overpriced even by airport restaurant standards. The food was not even mediocre, some of it was downright inedible. The decor is sad and tired. The menu is confusing. This supposed steakhouse is trying to be too many different things and its not doing any of them well. The place felt dingy and dirty, too. And its not very accessible as the only entrances inexplicably involve stairs, a weird feature in an airport restaurant. The one and ONLY saving grace is the service. My server was pleasant, prompt, efficient and considerate. The one star is only for her. Everything else is zero stars.
This restaurant is located outside the check-in. It is probably the nicest place to have a meal in Terminal 8 before traveling. They have table service and a decent menu. Some other reviewers have commented about the quality of the service, and while I did not have any problem, I could see how it could be hit or miss here, but it is an airport restaurant, after all.
Staff is nice, pleasant, and far too few in number. When you finally get the food its good (a bit pricey, but, its an airport). The problem is that, both times Ive been here, its taken 30+ minutes to get my food after ordering. Each time the restaurant had been less than 3/4ths full. For an airport restaurant this is unacceptable.
Instead of standing around the host station and socializing with each other and grazing from the candy dish, how about actually paying attention to the tables and guests? This is an airport. People are on a schedule. Dont waste their time.Slow service, had to ask for someone to take my order. Drink glass was empty for more than 10 minutes; waiter finally came back and asked if I needed anything. How about taking a look at my long empty glass? This is a restaurant, not a dorm. How about reevaluating your work ethic and consider a bit more professional behavior and attentiveness please.
Terrible service... sat at the bar for a full 15 mins before anyone even acknowledged me, and it was pretty empty. Food is ok but not for the price point. Way overpriced bar food. And it took almost 30mins for a chicken sandwich to come out. Then another 30 for the side of broccoli I had ordered instead of fries. In the meantime, customers that say after me received much prompter and more attentive service. And I was asked 4 times if my broccoli cane out yet (clearly there’s no broccoli in front of me, so I guess not!). Thankfully I had sufficient time between flights, otherwise I would’ve had to leave without food. And no, topping off my wine an hour later didn’t really make amends. Unfortunately there’s not really any other decent food options in this terminal.
This restaurant partners with Amex as a lounge. Worst part of this restaurant is that they dont make provisions for the fact people have luggage with them. Just a generally uncomfortable dining experience being shoved into a tiny 2 person booth trying to keep all of your luggage with you, trying to work and there being no outlets to use. This is not comparable to a working lounge.Prices are absurd for an airport because, get real, were in an airport, not Manhattan. Had $26 shrimp scampi which was 4 shrimp + a mound of linguini that had zero taste. My husband told me it tasted like they forgot to put sauce on it. I asked for a side of marina just to get some flavor. So bland.Dont bother eating here because it looks fancy. Overpriced, bland food and you cant charge your phone.
Be careful if you are a priority pass card holder. Both My friend and i had pp card and we informed it to the waiter. But the waiter said dont worry. Just give me one card and i will take care of it. So i gave him just my card. After the long trip, we found that he charged my friends dish. Repeating again, we were supposed to get $28 discount per each person because both of us had pp card. But he didnt do it. Be very careful and make sure if u use pp card at this restaurant
Service was good. Ambiance is excellent. Food was ok. I ordered the French Onion Soup. Not much flavor. I only ate half. I don’t recommend. Then came the Chicken Parm. Again, the tomato sauces was bland, no garlic that I could taste. The chicken was perfect and the breading/cheese spot on but I was really, really disappointed in the sauce. It needs a LOT of work. Especially for being in NY! I do not recommend based on the sauce.
Unlike many of the other reviewers, I had excellent service but it was not busy at the time and they were quite a few empty tables. I dont know how the restaurant is when its more crowded. I arrived at the airport several hours early to go to Paris. I took a Chase business preferred credit card because it had more points than the reserve card with lounge privileges. I looked at the photos of the lounge online and wasnt impressed so I thought I would just go to a restaurant instead. I had a hamburger and sat at the table for 2.5 hours using my notebook computer. Someone at the table next to me was doing the same. I took a look at the lounge to see if I was missing anything and I would definitely prefer to sit at the restaurant with better food.
I eat there every month when leaving New York. Yesterday was my last time. The waiter never came and finally the hostess took my order. She was very nice. My order arrived and the eggs were overcooked and bacon burned. I could barely eat a few bites. I am since my prior experiences were good. I cannot afford to pay $19.60 for poor food. The waiter had no problem quickly bringing my check and did not ask if everything was o.k. You would think that he would wonder why he was picking up a plate full of food unless that is the norm now.David Lewis
I do not recommend this restaurant, for the unfriendly attitude. An attendant put a lot of pressure on us to order food at 11am, and went as far as saying that we did not have the right to stay unless we ordered. This despite we had made it clear that we were intending to watch a football match starting at noon there, and would have therefore definitely had lunch there... The fact that we ordered only 3 salads did not seem to be appreciated either. We felt uneasy. There was no acceptable explanation for such unfriendly attitude, even on commercial grounds, because the restaurant was almost empty.
Probably the worst and most expensive buffalo chicken sandwich Ive had. For $23, the chicken was super thin and dry and very little sauce it. I didn’t even know there was buffalo sauce until the middle. Then I order ranch and after pouring it on my sandwich I taste it and it’s actually blue cheese. Good thing I’m staving...
Tried to order chicken nachos as a starter, with fish and chips as main. Got told there were no chicken nachos, so I ordered chicken quesadillas. 20 minutes later quesadillas arrived, without chicken. 45 minutes after ordering, the fish and chips still hadn’t arrived. I queried it and got told it was coming. After an hour I gave up and cancelled. They then bought out fish and chips and asked if I still wanted them. Having cancelled them 5 minutes earlier, I declined. They walked across the bar and gave them to another customer. Absolutely embarrassing service. FAR better options in terminal 8
Honestly the setup is nice. But the service was horendous. I should note that servers were friendly, but totally short staffed and relatively incompetent. This place is totally mismanaged, it is like some kind of forgotten child. Ordered soup, it came cold. Returned 20 minutes later - followed 2 minutes later by someone elses main course. I return the pasta I did not order and proceed to continue waiting 20 more minutes. No one comes to say anything or update me. I am at an airport and am now an hour deep into waiting on my salad, the nature of being at the airport is that I have a limited amount of time to eat. I give up, no salad, ask for the bill. They bring the wrong bill with a lobster ravioli listed on it. It takes 10minutes longer to bring the right bill, i feel like I am in bizzaro world, is this place for real? The sad part is that it is the only decent seated food option in this terminal and the food I saw looked good, too bad i didnt get to have any.Really blown away by the lack of attention to really anything here. Set a new bar for incompetence.
This has always been our go to place in the #8 Terminal of JFK. It has been the best place to eat breakfast before a morning flight. We travel about every 6 weeks so have been many times. However this most recent visit was disheartening. Food and service were very diminished.
NEVER go to this restaurant in Terminal 8, specially if you are using a MasterCard Black Lounge Pass.Waiters/managers will only explain about the discount which does NOT actually exist after you have already placed your order EVEN when you clearly ask them how the discount works BEFORE placing your order. Its CLEARLY a scheme to attract customers. A shame really, as it might really spoil your travelling.
Food was terrible. Basic airport quality steak...chewy and tough. Calamari was average. Cesear Salad just ok (and extra charge for anchovies...really). Service was outstanding. Also, know that they are no longer part of the AMEX Priority Pass deal. Very dissatisfied!!!
This place is right after security so its hard to miss. Its also one of the only places to eat in terminal 8 which is why I often go there when traveling on business. The food is decent but overpriced (its an airport so its expected), but my biggest complaint is the staff. They almost always act as though you are an inconvenience both when they are busy and when they are not. They do take priority pass which is their greatest quality in my opinion.
Tuesday Night Dec 17th 8:00 pm we sat down and the restaurant was not crowded. Order quickly and it took 35 minutes to get the food delivered. If you want to catch a flight DO NOT come here...the server set no expectations about the speed of the kitchen. We had to track down our server (Jose) to get some ETA on the food. Understaffed? Unprepared? I dont know but the place looks nice but their executive is far from acceptable.
I dont know if our server just had a bad day or if shes like that but not really polite or welcoming, her nails where just crazy (Ive never seen anyone work in a restaurant with that long nails).Tried the famous bobby burger ordered Medium/well and got a welldone and slightly burned... no flavour and nothing special about it at all.My girlfriend tried the Portobello sandwich and she was happy with it and that is the only reason I aint giving 1 star.Edit : worth mentioning is that many other servers were polite and took care of their guests in a nice way.
Terrible service. We waited for around 15 minutes to have service and then they told us the kitchen was too busy and 45 minutes would not be enough. They would not give any estimate of how long the food would take also. For a restaurant inside an airport, Id expect more efficiency. You need more staff.
I will not recommend the restaurant not even to my worst enemy. If you go with prioritypass, watch out. Their bar code reading machine does not work and they charge you for your consumption and ask you to resolve the bill issues with the bank. Instead of checking the barcode when you enter in the restaurant, they do it when you are about to catch your flight. I do not recommend!!!
We saw at google that the steaks weren’t the best order.I had meatloaf, I’m sure some people would like but I did not like it.They also charge for a lounge and it isnt one with masterblack, no discount or benefit included. You end up paying on the credit card 28 dollars each person and the food.
I’m giving this five stars for visibility. I consider myself a steak aficionado and have been to some of the nicest steakhouses in the world. This place is the most overpriced steakhouse I have ever been to by such a wide margin. Can’t speak to the other entrees but the steak is no better than I could make at home in a cast iron skillet.
Ordered the Shrimp cocktail and found the shrimp to be watered down, which made for a disappointingly bland taste. The spinach salad w/ gorgonzola cheese was too salty, and the peach bellini was tart and had no peach flavor. After a 9 hour flight, I was hungry enough to eat the shrimp and drink the bellini, but only ate a couple of bites of the salad. It was an unexpected surprise when the Manager comped my mostly uneaten salad. I applied the cost of the salad and added it to the tip I left for the very good service I received from the Hostess and the Waiter.
Certainly not the original in midtown, but not bad for an airport meal. I would suggest staying away from the full steak meals as the kitchen doesnt seem to have the care or interest to get them done just so. The burgers and sandwiches are a good bet. I dont think I would eat there paying retail, but with the Priority Pass credit its worthwhile.
I am in total awe how JFK terminals offer such meh and expensive food options in their food courts. For a major city, I am baffled. Bobby Vans offered a decent meal with quick service and a nice spot to sit and relax for a moment. Huge American sized portions to fill your tummy before a flight for sure. Not super cheap but better value than the food court options in terminal 8.
Awesome food and awesome service. Huge portions. Crab cake appetizer to die for. Linguinu with grilled chicken an excellent choice. My husband loved the rib eye!.Make sure to give it a try. Will definitely be the stop next time at JFK terminal 8. Joe, Larry and Armondo, thanks a mil!

2022-04-27Stopped here as it was the better option for food and drink in our terminal. It’s pricey. there’s a menu online to double-check if you’d order anything. Our waitress was nice, the food was goodWe ordered the Lump Crab cake special and shrimp scampi. The “My Tie” was good, could’ve been a bit stronger for my personal taste

2022-04-29We stopped in since this seemed like one of the better restaurants in JFK near our gate. Did not disappoint. Our server was great and attentive (but not too much). He juggled many tables with finesse. My Wedge Salad was delicious and prepared with the dressing on the side, as requested. The prosecco glass was chilled frosty for serving, too. No complaints.

2022-04-25$$$$ Very pricey, but worth it. The server was very kind, patient and helpful. The waitress was nice. The food is worth the price, big meals and enough quantity and good appearance. I also use my Priority Pass, from Citi Prestige. 😂 Uff that definitely came handy for a $70 breakfast. But totally worth it.😊😇

2022-06-13Used the Priority Pass deal to grab breakfast here before a flight and it was fine given that the pass covered our entire meal, excluding tip! I definitely would not go without the deal, though, because it is way overpriced for only fine food. Service was also relatively slow and it was a bit hard to get the attention of our waiter given how crowded the restaurant was (it was one of only a few open super early)

2022-05-31There is no priority pass lounge in this terminal, but you can get $28 off a meal at this restaurant, so thats why we came.My husband and I split:- Filet Tip Steak Sandwich- Jack Daniels 12 oz Burger- Mac & CheeseEverything was bland and overcooked. Airport food isnt usually very good and restaurants that have priority pass discounts seem to be especially bad.On the plus side, we didnt have to pay much thanks to priority pass.

2022-07-06We wanted to love it, we were starving and everything else was closing. But the sangria didn’t taste like a sangria and the club(s) we ordered because of a time crunch, were burnt. The fries were good though. And the waiter, Lori, was good.

2021-12-20So so food & serviceThe white table cloth looked clean but there were slats all over. Ordered Jack Daniel’s burger & Veggie burger, came with lots of fries. Food was just ok. Fries & veggie burger would be better with more salt, it was tasteless. Now i know why there were salts all over the table cloth :-) Service was not good. Ordered margarita before ordered food. Served food but no margarita, had to ask twice. A nice margarita glass would be better. Fork, knife were missing, no ketchup, had to ask when food came in. The restaurant was not even busy, did not understand why servers were not attentive. Will not come back.

2022-04-24Keepin it real out here at JFKI get its inside an airport so it might be lacking in certain areas, but for regular/over regular steakhouse price, the service and food just both lacking a bit. The steak itself doesnt taste cheap, but just not the real deal. The service and the vibe just didnt add up to fine dining level, had to wait a while for the food and had to ask multiple times for the check

2021-11-26Had an early morning flight and this is the restaurant spot we got $28 per person from CSR priority pass. Food is good, but coffee is overpriced, we also ordered 2 extra to takeout, spent $62 in total, and I got $56 deducted from PPS credit, I only pay $6 plus tips.Overall good experience, the waiter was not very welcoming and seems not that professional.

2022-05-03Best way to spend a long wait before our flight. José V took excellent care of us - he was very attentive and friendly! The burger was one of the best I’ve had recently & the wings were spicy & crispy. 5/5
