Bobo in other cities:
I enjoyed getting away at this French restaurant. Really felt like I was out on the town. The ambiance is so cozy. Great lighting and decor. Excellent service, however something happened to our main course and we had to ask about when it was coming. They brought it out quickly after that. The flavor and freshness of our meal (salad, salmon and lemon tart) were fantastic. Highly recommend.
I tried Bobo today for the first time with a friend for brunch. It’s located in a quaint brownstone with stunning windows. The service was welcoming and attentive. The French toast (pain perdu) was well done, if somewhat unexciting. I’d love to go back and try their dinner service — I could see this being a great spot for an intimate glass of wine.
Amazing experience last Sunday at Bobo for a private party my friend was hosting. I was really impressed with the menu selection and even more so by the level of service we received. Our waiter Edwin was incredibly attentive and went out of his way to make sure that our large party was taken care of for food and drinks. Can’t wait to come back, amazing service!
I dont typically write reviews, but this restaurant went above & beyond. We initially had a reservation on Wednesday that the restaurant had to cancel because of unforeseen construction that forced them to close for the evening. Instead of receiving a text or email, I got a personal phone call from someone at the restaurant letting me know and asking if we could reschedule. We ended up going for dinner the next night and were so impressed from everything from the service to the atmosphere and the food! Everyone apologized for having to cancel our reservation from the night before, and the general manager even came over to our table to apologize, thanked us for coming, and gave us a complimentary appetizer. This kind of service just doesnt exist many places!! The food & drinks were amazing, and we were thrilled with the experience overall! Highly recommend!!
Reserved a spot on Resy and got seated by the windows downstairs, space felt pretty cramped. Brunch and service were okay but did not live up expectations for a 4.6 stars place. Also not expecting it could get so loud during early brunch hours. Will go for other spots if your group prefer a quieter place to chat
Ambiance and staff are fine. But whoever designed the menu is not thoughtful and not creative. Watermelon salad is an abomination (six cubes of watermelon, three curds of cheese, no presentation whatsoever, really?), improperly cooked eggs (a French place should know how to poach eggs), single leaf of lettuce as a side of salad is just lazy, no one thought bread would be necessary for a soupy dish and no bread is available in principle.... Just silly. Will not come back and will strongly advise anyone against coming here.
Possibly the biggest catfish of a restaurant. The place reeks of bleach as you walk in (never a good sign). The food tasted like it was made from frozen. I ordered the salmon - underwhelming, no flavor and topped with canned corn. If you want high quality and authentic french food, go to Buvette. You’re paying $30 here for canned vegetables.
Relatively small portion, which I didn’t mind at all because I can’t eat much. Tastes heavenly!!! The waiter was funny too and made our days better. Another plus side is that even though we went during Saturday brunch time, it wasn’t packed so you won’t have to try to have a conversation with a lot of noise around. Overall an ideal brunch place!
Received warm and great.service from the host and servers here. He seated us in the deck which was great because the weather was beautiful and sunny today so loved the natural light. The food was really good and I was very happy that I got my oeuffs de maurette (a Burgundian dish made with red wine sauce). Highly recommend!
This place is fantastic, my partner and I had dinner here for our anniversary before heading to a jazz club and Juan our waiter was very accommodating they gave us a fantastic table and gave us some champagne on the house to help us celebrate. Which to boot was perfectly paired with our oysters! It was certainly a very special and memorable experience. Will most definitely be coming back as the food was also wonderful and the hake they had for restaurant week was out of this world!
It is the very first complain review I have ever written for a restaurant in my life. Because this experience is such a disappointment. My friend and I have been wanting to check out this place for so long, but the real experience is more than terrible. When we first stepped in, the girl with long curly black hair at the reception table rolled her eyes on us, yes she did it with a strong negative attitude coming from no where. She told us that we couldn’t sit on the table with better light because the huge table next to would expand and the staffs would remove all these small tables. However, after 10 minuets, she let other people sit on the tables where she didn’t let us sit in, and they never removed those table as they said they would. Afterward, when I came to ask her why, her tone was rude and unapologetic and didn’t even look at me while talking. It is a very unacceptable toxic attitude which I have never experienced in any dining experience ever before, and no customer deserves to experience this.Besides her, other waiters were rude too. They took away my plates way too fast, while I was literally still eating. It is a very unpleasant experience and I may need to warn my foodie friends about it in case they run into this chaos too.
This is a great place, very experienced bartenders and the food is fabulous, the only thing is the acoustics, you cant even hear yourself think on some nights that are busy and nights that arent too busy its still a little bit of a challenge, so plan to go right at 5:00 if you want to have a conversation and a little relaxation.
I am SO HAPPY to see they’re open again! This is a must-visit for happy hour, nice dinner, some apps, etc. the atmosphere is so unique and lovely, the staff are all wonderful, and the food can’t be beat. The prices are very fair as well… and it’s steps from several train lines.
Honestly if it’s about Hospitality then Bobo should teach other restaurants. From the moment you walk in you feel like this is your house.Happy Hour is the secret .Food is fantastic , I had the steak au poive and it was glorious .We had a waiter from GDansk Poland and he just might be the best server in the history of NYC.I kid about that but he will always bring me back to Bobo .
Quaint French restaurant, with a surprising amount of space. Downstairs is the bar and some small tables, with upstairs having a more formal seating area. Delicious cocktails and really good food with some delicious seasonal specials. They have a good selection of French wines as well. Beet chips are a delicious start. When the weather is nicer, there is garden seating.
The setup is cute, the food was just okay. However, I would not return because even though we all know better, and that vax doesn’t affect catching or spreading, and even though mandates are over, this restaurant is still requiring vax cards. It’s discriminating, and ignorant. Additionally, the waiter told me they use allergy friendly oil … because they don’t use peanut oil. But they use another top 10 allergen. All in all, they need to get their safety checks in order.
Honestly, please go here, it was incredible. The atmosphere is the cutest place youve basically ever seen in your life, the service is fantastic, and the food is one of the best brunches Ive ever had in my life. We also got gelato as well to go at the end. To die for. :D 💚🌺✨
I really liked the ambience at this place and the happy hour specials downstairs are great.Unfortunately, the food is absolutely awful. We went with the servers recommendation of the crispy artichoke. The bearnaise sauce was extremely lemony. I love bearnaise sauce usually but theirs is inedible. After we finished, they finally brought bread for the table. The bread was stale and the worst table bread I can remember being served and they didn’t being any butter out with it. I had to ask three times before I got any butter and by then the mains had come out.For the main course, I got the hanger steak and my date for the salmon. The hanger steak was terrible. So so salty and the flavor was no good. The salmon was bland. The one highlight of the meal was the potato dish that accompanied the steak.
Recommended to us we (2 couples) ate here. Located in West Village this converted townhouse is now a 2 level restaurant with abundant charm and character. We ordered the hanger steak that was cooked perfectly. Janet who perfers medium steak doneness found the charred exterior coupled with the rare middle to be a new favorite. Ambience was great, servers and attendance were outstanding. We ate in the dining room but Bobos garden room was a unique offering. The menu is small but very appealing with a nice variety. All 4 in our group loved this place and highly recommend it.The only thing preventing a 5* rating was the product unavailability. On a small menu it seems reasonable to have all items available especially for common items and a first seating. (1 of the 3 beer choices and an artichoke dish appetizer were not available). That is the only ding which is small but it kept Bobo from my 5* rating. A wonderful place we will visit again. Give Bobo a try. You will not be disappointed.
I went here for brunch and it was the first time I tried an Espresso Martini! This will make it a special place....always! The ambiance was great and I loved their food! Its definitely a place I want to go during the summer and sit in their garden, and probably to try out their dinner menu!
Just ok overall. The place is cute, the ambience is lively and the service was not bad, but this place claims to be French and doesnt have many French food items on the menu - not even baguette. I would say this place is better for just grabbing a drink and not necessarily to enjoy a full meal. The oysters and their gnocchi (which isnt even French btw), are of poor quality. The hanger steak was all right but not well seasoned. The steak comes with a tomato and olive sauce type side which is not bad but definitely needs bread to enjoy it like in the south of France, but none comes with the meal. We had asked about this and so the manager did bring us some bread that comes with some other dish which was kind of him, but again, just not a true French restaurant.
This is one of those places that TimeOut would take the undatables.Great atmosphere. I was expecting a bit more attitude from the staff, for being a more expensive place, but everyone was so pleasant! Its on the more expensive side but its worth it. Lots of couples on dates all around!
I came here when I found my first apartment in New York as a celebratory dinner and I actually cried (tears of joy) at how good this dinner was. To be fair, there were some other factors involved in the crying but the food was semi-responsible. Everyone should eat here.
Visited Bobo for Restaurant Week and did not disappoint. The host could have been better, barely greeted and didn’t direct us to the table until asked. But the rest of the experience was great. Started our dining with cocktails: bold fashion and Lolita, both delicious, with a side of beet chips that were crisp and perfectly salted. We ordered off the restaurant week menu, three courses for $42. The starters of steak tartar and little gem salad were the perfect beginning dishes. The entrees of vegetable risotto and cassoulet were great winter dishes, hearty and satisfying. And for dessert the chocolate mousse and lemon tart were the best ending to a wonderful meal. And our waiter was absolutely the best. In a city full of mediocre service, great service always stands out. He did not rush us and checked in many times. He was kind and knowledgeable. Would definitely visit Bobo again and recommend even during non Restaurant Week times.
We hosted a friends bridal shower in a small private room at Bobo and it was a wonderful experience. From the start, the Bobo team was easy to work with, responsive, professional, flexible, and accommodating. The actual event was lovely and they took great care of us. Not only was the food outstanding, but the staff was equally impressive. There was not a wine or water glass that was not tended to, and the servers were so helpful and pleasant, it really enhanced the experience. We will definitely think of Bobo for our next event as they truly made the process easy and as effortless as possible.
This was hands down just an amazing restaurant. As soon as you walk in you can just see and feel the cozy and welcoming vibe. The Host and Hostess were so sweet, and the men and women that provided our dining experience were attentive, personable, they were simply impeccable Now the food was superb! I must send compliments to Chef Ari, the meal was beyond delicious. Also, the Epice Margarita was so tasty! The desserts were also yummy! Thank you to everybody that worked so hard to provide such a lovely evening. You must eat here!
We sat around longer that I wouldve liked before the waiter came to take our order (maybe 10 min), but that is my only complaint.Aside from that, the space is gorgeous (we sat outside). My chicken salad was excellent. Fresh, delicious, and with surprising ingredients. We will definitely be back.
We ate in the bar rather than the restaurant upstairs. Even the bar was cozy and charming. The service was great. We had the beet chips which were excellent, grilled octopus which was perfectly done and tender rather than rubbery, and the skirt steak was perfectly done and seasoned. All in all a perfect date place in the West Village.
How had I never been here?? I will be back often. Elegant but casual. I real French menu with unique choices. Very reasonable prices including happy hour cocktails. We had poached lobster, grilled octopus and grilled cod (a special) with a lovely Sancerre by the glass. Very attentive wait staff. We were seated upstairs in an enclosed & tented greenhouse style space - the benefit of a well light and green rooftop and AC combined.
So I’m very mixed about this place. Me and my boyfriend came for Valentine’s Day unaware that the price fix menu was the only option. We thought about leaving but decided might as well having nowhere else to go. We both had the grilled octopus which was phenomenal but our entrees were less so. I had the hangar steak which was good but a very small portion for paying $75 for price fix. Same with my boyfriend’s “rack of lamb.” The menu literally said “rack of lamb” and there was even a $5 supplement charge so we thought the portion was going to be bigger but it came back with literally 3 lamb chops. Definitely disappointed especially because of the price. The desert was very good for me “chocolate soufflé,” but my boyfriend’s lemon tarts was overwhelmingly lemon. He said he liked it but the lemon was very overpowering. Overall, the food here is good but the price is outrageous. They boosted the prices for Valentine’s Day, which is understandable but when we compared to the regular menu, our meal would’ve been almost 100 dollars less if it wasn’t for price fix! Keep in mind anytime you go here and they’re boasting the price fix menu because it’s really not worth it.
My girlfriend and I took a trip to New York City and fell upon this restaurant. The restaurant is beautiful, cozy and we were well greeted at the door. It was quite late but they agreed to let us in for a meal. First, the food was amazing. Its obvious the chef(s) are working very hard to make tasty dishes. We were very satisfied with the food. The sommelier was very nice and got us a nice bottle of wine. The only issue was the waitress. She gave us a sort of attitude, like we didnt belong there. My girlfriend and I speak french, and we spoke french to her, she was non responsive and didnt seem to care very much about us. She didnt smile once. It was kind of shame to be in such a nice place, where again, the people in charge of the establishment are evidently working very hard to make it a nice place for people to go and have a nice meal. That person though, would be the sort of person to poison this sort of environment and if I was in charge, she would be out the door as I would want people that are excited to be working for my restaurant and make the experience even better by just being a responsive waitress, showing that she cares that were there. In all, again, the food was great, Dont stop yourself from going there because of the experience we had since the food was very very good.
Nice experience. Food is freshly prepared for an order. Fillet mignon was great, white fish would be great if not for a thick creamy sauce. Great side dishes - all of them. Great desserts, and selection of wine even better, including by the glass. Actually, its the best selection of wine by the glass. All in all, its definitely a place to add to your favorites.
I’m a fan! Bobo is a great spot in the West Village to treat yourself to some very good food. The downstairs section is more casual than upstairs. Upstairs has a very inviting French country vibe with candles, an old fireplace, and wooden decor. Downstairs is a bit more casual.Food wise - you can expect great quality from Bobo. There’s very good flavor in all of the dishes that I’ve tried. Most recently, the grilled octopus was noteworthy. I split the hanger steak & asparagus. I’m not the biggest fan of hanger steak - I wish a different cut was available. Skip the asparagus. For the price, you’re getting about 8 stalks and $1/stalk. Nothing too noteworthy flavor wise.
What an experience. This was the perfect date night location for our anniversary. Really amazing two story restaurant. Feels like you are in somebodies house. Extremely romantic with great decor. Great food and wine. Our server, Emily, was terrific. Really made our night.
I’ve really tried with this place over the years but I’m struggling to have a lot of good things to say. Each time I come here something new is amiss. The bar staff seem to feel it is ok to be cold... even though the style of the menu and interiors feels whimsical - I’m expecting a warm and invited place. I ask for a cocktail at the bar that they don’t have, she says she doesn’t know it and makes it clear that she’s not going to make any other cocktail. I don’t know... just think that it’s a competitive marketplace for bars and these guys really need to change their style to get the clientele - it’s not that busy! Be friendly. Be local. Be whimsical - like your menu.
Genuine atmosphere of a local place that has recurring clients.Good selection of wines, very good salmon belly tartare. Staff is very nice and professional in an easy going way.Would definitely recommend it both for a causal night at the bar as well as a dinner with close ones.
Ate upstairs. Had a very strange waiter who kinda put on a show but he was pretty funny. Food was good, had a full fish and the chicken (during restaurant week) and it was a tiny portion and just okay. The appetizer was very good and the Mars bar dessert quite tasty as well.
The Best!I cant speak highly enough of Bobo, and the team there. This is really 2 reviews:1. Event, Wedding- We held our wedding at Bobo and reserved the second floor and garden space. We had the ceremony on site and very comfortably seated 54 guests. The ambience is wonderful if youre looking to plan a party or wedding. The planning process was extremely easy thanks to Lisa and her team. The wait staff were terrific. They are true professionals at what they do, and cant be thanked enough. Lastly, the food... well it was amazing. My guests were still raving about it a week after the event. Honestly, planning the wedding with Bobo was the best decision we made, and by far the easiest part of the whole planning process. I dont know what else to say about this place except... AMAZING.2. Dining- Ive gone numerous times, and it has never disappointed. The staff is consistent, as is the food. Brunch is steller, as is dinner. The cocktails are superb. Its way too easy to fall in love with this place. Its basically perfect. I havent met a person or been there with someone that has disageed with that sentiment.I can go on and on professing my love of Bobo... but Ill stop here. :-)
I experience the bar area on the main floor. The bartender was very understanding and patient allowed my friend to try different wines before choosing the best that suited his taste buds. I didnt have a meal but the cocktails are delicious; from the smells Im sure the food is delicious. I will be returning soon for lunch or dinner.
Visited a week before Halloween for dinner. Started with drinks in the cozy as hell lower level bar. Small intimate tables surround the bar with candles and throw pillows everywhere. Dinner was upstairs, and I recommend you do both to get the feel of this little jem. Service was top notch, food was great. I got the chicken entrée (playing it safe, shame on me) and my date the gnocchi which was amazing. Good beer and wine selections and in a very nice area of the Village. Walk north afterwards a few blocks and have a cocktail by the fire at the superb Waverly Inn. Just wander, explore, pop in some place, fun.
I took my wife to this restaurant two years ago because it was her birthday and because of its reputation as One of the Most Romantic Restaurants in NYC. Though pricey, it lived up to its reputation. The ambiance was beautiful, food was excellent and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. Little tip though, ask to sit upstairs, less noisy.
Perfect spot for a bridal shower brunch! The townhouse atmosphere and outdoor area make you feel transported to a place outside of the city. The food is delicious and the service is amazing. The private room upstairs is great for an intimate engagement celebration or rehearsal dinner.
Came here with a few friends for dinner. Restaurant is large for NYC and there are multiple areas you can be seated. Ambiance of each as you walk through the restaurant all seems nice. We were seated just before the outdoor area where there is a glass ceiling so it was kind of chilly as the heater was spotty going on and off. Atmosphere of that room was really nice though to be able to look up and outside and with the brick walls surrounding you. One friend ordered off the restaurant week menu and was not a fan of the food. I decided to order off the a la carte menu with another friend and split the rabbit terrine as an appetizer, lamb for two as entree, and the tart of the day which was apple and almond. Terrine was fine but that lamb was so good. Its served on top of some collard greens and polenta (with plenty of melted butter). One of the best lamb dishes my friend and I ever ate. The apple and almond tart for dessert was also phenominal. Crisp pastry crust, apples were the perfect texture and combined with the frangipane had a really nice slightly floral aroma. Definitely a good spot to bring a date or to come to with friends. Service was good, theyre good about keeping the water glasses filled. I liked the fact that they dont rush you for dinner although a buddy of mine felt the food and service was kinda slow. Overall was a good experience and would come back. There were a few people speaking french two tables over which added to the overall atmosphere.
I fell in love with the staff at brunch and the space. Theres something very warm and welcoming about both. We laughed a lot. The food seemed to let down both sides. I wanted it to be better so I could make Bobo my new favorite spot in the West village. It wasnt bad food. It just seemed like no one was really paying attention to details like salting the food or having enough acidity in the salad dressing. I did like the lemon zest in the goats cheese balls in the best salad.
Ambiance?Check.Great Drinks?Check.Edison Bulbs?Check. This place is a great spot for an after work happy hour. The last part about Edison bulbs isnt really necessary for for a great bar but its for sure a cherry on top. The staff was really helpful and there was a nice selection for happy hour drinks. If you want wine, beer, or cocktails for $6 from 5-7 this is the place to be!
Bobo is exceptional from start to finish and Im shocked and sad they dont have 5 star reviews across the board. From the lovely and exceptionally kind host to the happy hour drinks at the bar that were excellent and a great price, to the dinner which was superb... I loved this place. I had a NY strip and fries (should come with aioli but when I asked for it they brought it) and my friends had scallops. Great service and great prices and ambiance. Cant wait to come back and Ive already sent several friends over. Thanks Bobo!
The ambiance is amazing. The food was less impressive. My foie gras was somewhat tasteless; like something you might find on sale at Monoprix. The accompanying apple chutney was equally uninspired. My salmon main course was overdone; though the horseradish and lentils were quite nice. My Bobo IPA was probably the best part of the meal.Overall, I feel this restaurant is not worth the money.
The interior is beautiful, cozy and warm. But thats the only positive thing I can say about this restaurant. From the moment that we sat down until they cleaned our table 30 minutes passed. Thirty minutes! I didnt even have a first sip from my aperitif and they already brought the white wine, which was supposed to come with the main course. Two minutes later the meal was served. I had the $30 risotto coquilles saint jacques aka 3 spoons of rice, drenched in a salty sauce and topped with 4 scallops. Is this a restaurant or a buffet? One waiter asked us if we wanted a dessert, which we kindly refused. A minute later another waiter drops the dessert menu on the table without asking. If we explain that we dont want any dessert, he promptly brings us the check. Is this your interpretation of a French dining experience? Rethink your service then. Really disappointing.
The decor of this place is adorable...country fresh with a great ambiance - great for date night, girls night, mom and sughter night - everything. Noise level is moderate - you can hear great but don’t feel like you’re in a prim and proper quiet place. Must get the gnocchi (so tasty) and the lamb shoulder. Ask for the mini madelines off menu for dessert.
I seldom describe a meal as divine, but there’s no other word for our dinner experience at Bobo on Friday evening. From the airy and immaculate upstairs dining room to the meticulous and friendly service, the stage was set for a remarkable meal. My guest and I, having enjoyed a few excellent appetizers and a cheese plate, split the perfectly nuanced Filet au Poivre ($36). We couldn’t have asked for anything more tender and flavorful. The peppercorn sauce had a gentle zing and the plentiful French fries had a personality of their own accented by the rich sauce. We had preceded the entrée with a cheese board anchored by an elegant Bleu d’Auvergne accompanied by a farmhouse Brie and a goat cheese from the French countryside. The Côtes-du-Rhône (Saint Cosme, 2017, $70) was perfection: round and deep from the first sip all the way through, getting fuller as it opened. Our waiters, Bryce and Anthony, couldn’t have been more knowledgeable and efficient, all in good-humored sophistication. Most of the entrées are $24 and the sparkling water is free. One special moment in our evening of superlatives will live on in my personal snow globe: as we enjoyed the appetizers and a deeply satisfying conversation, my favorite funky instrumental played in the background—“Green Onions,” Booker T and the MGs. Life can be so wonderful. It was our first experience at this West Village gem. Such a finely orchestrated dining symphony doesn’t occur without superb management. David deserves top marks in this regard. He welcomed us warmly and checked back a few times, making us feel totally comfortable. Cheers all around. I’m sure there will be many more totally satisfying Bobo dinners to follow. rand b
This place is outstanding and left us incredibly impressed! I live in what I consider the foodtopia of the South (Asheville, NC) and the food here blew us away! My friend and I both agreed that the service at this restaurant was second to none. Every employee we encountered could not have been more hospitable, generous, and kind. Major shoutout to Ian, Seth and Cassie- you all made our entire night so special! Could not recommend this place more- it’s a must!
Stunning restaurant and bar spread over a few floors. Situated in a West Village brownstone. There is outside area during the warm months. Impressive artwork and fixtures throughout the building. Perfect for an occasion or romantic meal. Cocktails and food consistent.
I never write restaurant reviews but I had to because my experience here was by far the most atrocious I have had in the city and Im from here. I picked this spot for my birthday because of the rave review it received in New York Mag and for its price it was the worst tasting food I have had in this city considering the EXPENSIVE bill at the end. The portions were ridiculously small, the waitress could not an order straight, the courses took forever to come out and they put meat in everything even when we specifically asked for veggie. I wound up picking up the IMMENSE tab for my own birthday because I was so embarrassed towards my company that I actually chose this place. Now the atmosphere was actually really cool but I hope this place goes out of businees QUICKLY and do not wish what happened to us on anyone. STEER CLEAR!
We had a horrific experience on Tuesday Dec 11th 2018. The service was absolutely terrible! It began when our host tried to order a half-bottle of Sauterne to go with the foie gras. After negotiating with several staff members, the brought a warm bottle. Which he then asked to be chilled. Were sorry sir, but the health inspectors are here, and they told us we cannot have any wine buckets because standing water is prohibited What? Wine buckets are now outlawed? This was the beginning of the service nightmare. They took the bottle of Sauterne away to chill it somehow. It took numerous requests before we were to see that bottle again. Eventually, after pleas to different staff members, it was returned. We had a rotating staff of servers, and we never did see our original waiter again. Maybe he went back to Poland? I cant say I could blame him.Our host tried to order a bottle of Chablis for the entrees, but they forgot about that order. So that when the entrees arrived, our host had to re-order the wine, but guess what? Thats right. They could not bring us a wine bucket since this would be against the standing water law.Although we ordered both appetizers and entrees when we first placed our order and told them we had to get to a show nearby, it took numerous requests of different staffers to get our entrees, as time ticked on.I thought the only thing missing was John Cleese to come out and insult us. There was more fun to come. Our host was kind enough to point out that the bill was not in order, and didnt have the entrees. No, this was not their way of making up for terrible service, it was just another mistake. They corrected the bill, and we finally escaped. This used to be our favorite restaurant for a pre-jazz dinner in the village. I just dont know what to think, or to risk going back.Maybe Bobo has been sold, or has new management? This was just so disappointing.
Restaurant week is a tempting time to savor the fare of establishments you scurry past. We enjoyed a tender twist of trout, a meat medley with a breadcrumb crust, a lemon merange (sp?) that was properly intense. Collect your coins and step inside. Wine might be a nice addition
Four or five days after making a reservation for 15, Bobo came back and told us that we needed to speak to a party planner as our group was so large. We were somewhat concerned - when the reservation had been made there was no mention of a party planner. At this point, the Evite had already gone out and now the venue was saying we needed to restart the reservation process all over again? To smooth ruffled feathers, our party was moved to Bobos upstairs space. With a separate entrance, and resembling a cozy dining room, the space had a private bathroom, a terrace and a laptop with speakers set up. The service, decor, and atmosphere were top-notch. For the most part, it seemed that everyone was pleased with their drinks and dinner. My steak was overcooked and the accompanying fries were over-seasoned. Despite my meh meal, I would still give Bobo a second chance. I felt that while we were there the staff made a genuine effort to be gracious and accommodating.
The decor is elegant but not pretentious, Bobo is one of this very rare restaurant in NY where you can really have a conversation while dining instead of yelling over lould music. The food is inventive and very good and the staff friendly, efficient and very courteous.Marc
One of the best interpretations of the “bolinho de bacalhau” I ever had, which is no small feat when serving a brazilian or portuguese qualified client. On a bed of black olives and olive and cooked apparently after a little bread flouring, it is a real pleasure. The sea bass that followed was grilled to perfection and the sauce included discrete fresh tomatoes, mushrooms and herbs. I will be back. Marcio Roza

2022-08-07I came here for a birthday dinner and the overall experience was amazing. The cellar has an easy going vibe and it’s more loud. We had a drink there while we waited for our table upstairs.Upstairs the restaurant atmosphere feels different but in a good way. It’s simple but charming and it goes pretty well with the French menu. Our waitress was amazing, fast, helpful, had good recommendations and knew a lot of the wine selection. I don’t know a lot of wine but we tried 4 types and they were all good. Excellent service. The menu is short but with a lot of good things. Everything was super tasty and I would recommend sharing all the dishes so you can try as much as possible. They even gave us a surprise birthday cake !I will come back !

2022-08-12We really enjoyed our dinner here at Bobo with friends. Its located in a charming townhouse with a covered outdoor terrace on the upper floor, perfect for dinner on a summer evening to enjoy the late sunset. The food itself was superb - each dish was clearly prepared with excellent technique and ingredients. We shared 3 appetizers in our group - the truffle croquettes, Parisian gnocchi and grilled octopus. I particularly enjoyed the truffle croquettes, which included corn roasted in honey. For my main I got the sasso chicken fricassee on the recommendation of our server, which I thought was surprising given that chicken breasts served in restaurants arent usually bestsellers. The fricassee blew me away - it was tender, juicy, and flavorful, with very crispy skin to complement it, in a nice white stew. I would order the chicken again next time I eat here.

2022-02-20The best part about Bobo is the setting. Set in a brick-laden West Village townhouse, this French restaurant has floors with different ambiances, from the cozy downstairs bar to the classic main dining room to the winter garden in the back. The food and cocktails are a good compliment to the experience.

2022-08-16I visited Bobo recently with a group of friends for a birthday 🎉 event. We had a wonderful time. The ambience and decor was very nice, the food really good, and the staff friendly. We ordered multiple dishes on the menu and they all delivered, I specifically recommend getting the grilled octopus which was phenomenal. The steak dishes all delivered too! Also give the beet chips a try. I enjoyed them.

2022-06-12Excellent spot - great food, service, wine. We started with a cheese plate and the gem salad (so good), then had the chicken and steak au poivre. The restaurant is very beautiful, located in an old townhouse and Bobo has a solid happy hour everyday at 5 downstairs.

2022-02-09Cute, low key little French place. Dimly lit so perfect for some ✨romance✨.Enter from below and the host will take you up a flight up stairs to the main dining area.We started with the charcuterie which was as expected. I ordered the roasted chicken which was very tender. My friend ordered the steak which looked very good as well. Portion sizes are a bit generous.Food is reliable and traditional 🤗

2022-07-31Bobo is one of my favorite brunch places in the neighborhood and is always worth the trip from where I am from on the UES. The ambiance is beautiful, cozy and clean, the food and drinks are delicious and the service is always fast and the waiters/waitresses are kind and attentive.

2022-03-09Great atmosphere! 5 stars for vibe. It looked pretty cramped on the first floor, but we had more than enough space on the second floor. I had the chicken which was juicy and savory, but the real star was the brussel sprouts. Definitely get them! Drinks were also delicious and strong. Dessert was unfortunately disappointing as meringue was as tough as jerky. Too bad, because everything else was good.

2021-08-04First time here really because it was the same name as my pup who passed away. I didn’t know what to expect on food or interior, we didn’t even look it up lol. We had early reservations which is my favorite so it’s not too packed. The staff is well trained you can tell they work well as a team and they were hospitable without over doing it. The interior is beautiful French country you literally feel like you’re there. A good selection of wines I appreciate that even the ones by the glass although I don’t drink anymore I know my wine. The menu now is small but I love that because you know the kitchen will have it down packed. The one thing is I asked for medium rare and got it a little too over cooked for my liking but the flavors made up for it I didn’t make a fuss. I’m excited to try brunch next time with my sister. Juan our server was a pleasure.
