Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi - Bay Ridge has changed my life! I recently retired and with everything going on now and being home with lots of anxiety, stress and gut issues I was looking for help. As your gut is directly connected to your brain, I searched through Thumbtack and found Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi. I currently attend their online classes which are daily and provides attention to your physical and emotional needs. However, my private sessions with Master Jang has changed my life. She is very knowledgeable and I feel so light, relaxed and energized after my sessions with her. I treasure our weekly sessions and can’t believe how my condition has improved. I would recommend Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi to anyone who has issues with stress, sleep and overall well-being.
I signed up for an introductory class at the Bay Ridge Dahn Yoga center a little over a year ago. I was searching for a place to do exercise near my apartment. After this introductory class, I signed up for a 3-month membership, then I upgraded to 2-year. A year after joining, I now have a lifetime commitment to this practice. I strongly recommend Dahn Yoga to anyone looking for an alternate from the gym workout.I began with lots of doubt - Can I really do the stretches? Do I really need all this training? etc. At the end of each class or workshop, I felt light and happy and kept going back for more. After a year of training, I have now learned how to maintain myself at that same healthy level. My overall health has improved. My internist no longer suggests high blood pressure medication and my cholesterol level is within normal range. My clothes fit better because I have lost weight and I have a toned body. Dahn Yoga has given me physical health and a happier disposition. I strongly recommend this practice to anyone seeking a change.
I joined almost 2 months ago and i have to say that i feel the difference in my body and brain (pun intended). I suffer from anxiety and my job is very physical and can be stressful with long hours, so i was in alot of pain in my lower body when i first started. The pain has slowly been going away through this practice and even though i still cannot touch my toes yet, i get closer with every class that i take. I really enjoy the tai chi class the most and I always feel great when i leave. Prices for membership and workshops are also comparable to all of the other local yoga workshops and classes as well. It is not a typical yoga class but its closer to a martial arts class which I personally love.
Considering I will be 75 in a few days, along with the fact that in 2016 I had to learn to walk again, I am very impressed with my results from Body & Brain Yoga. I can now actually run up the stairs like a young person again. My muscles are growing, my vitality is up and I am enjoying my body as well as the classes at the Bay Ridge center. I also find my mental capacity has expanded. I am able to multitask now and not be so disturbed by distractions. I am more focused, aware, energetic, flexible, healthier and happier. I even have better range of motion in my neck which helps me drive better. Im thankful to Master Jang & Master Ricky for the guidance and results.
I joined B&B approximately 4 months ago. The change in my anxiety level is slowly but surely improving and I have learned to let go of the issues which I have no control of. This form of relaxation, breathing and exercise has been so beneficial to my well being and I look more toned as well. Instructors are kind and extremely knowledgeable of individual needs. I extremely recommend B&B. It has changed my life
I came to the Body and Brain Bay Ridge center for physical healing without knowing that I was going to be healed emotionally. After a few short months , my back problems and anxiety diminished a great deal . I was able to make life changing decisions due to a clear, peaceful and focus mind. I am very happy to have found this center which has helped me to live a more healthy and joyful lifestyle . Master Jang and Master Ricky are wonderful people who care for your well-being. This is a piece of heaven in the Earth!
Body & Brain Bay Ridge -I started with Body & Brain last year, shortly after retiring. The classes and seminars are awesome. I have had 2 amazing experiences.The 1st one was when working with Master Jang. My chest always felt tender to the touch. I didnt realize that this physical pain was really years of pent up anguish and sorrow. Once I let go of all these negative emotions, I felt lighter of spirit. Hence I no longer feel this physical pain.The 2nd experience came when I attended the Heart opening seminar. This also helped release negative memories. The most amazing part of this was my blood pressure ( which had been on the high side even with medication) dropped to a level I hadnt seen in years.Even my doctor was amazed.If you are looking for more then just your regular yoga class, Body & Brain is the place to go to. You will connect body, brain and spirit.
6 months ago, I found it difficult to everyday activities as simple as walking. Body and Brain Yoga & Tai Chi has provided me with the foundation to get more energy. Since I started classes there, the back pain I had has subsided. I walk 10,000 steps almost daily. Several times, I have clocked 20k steps on my fit bit; and once I walked over 30k steps. Today I was able to do activities I haven’t done in years - jumping rope and yoga positions including crow and full wheel. Highly recommend!
Body & Brain is a Life Style. About 7 years ago I got acquainted to Body & Brain Yoga. After couple of classes I new this was It, what I was looking for!! I realized how stressed my body, mind and spirit had been operating for so long, so disconnected! Through regular practice, I improved long standing conditions, sciatic, lower back and knee pain. And....on the process I learned so much more, how to relax, how to control emotions, how to heal myself and so much more. All the principles of the practice just enriched my life. The Masters have been a great source of guidance, all along these years. I consider myself blessed for the opportunity to be among great people, that help others to improve their wellbeing. I look forward every day for the classes. Enjoyed workshops, courses, trips that helped me grow and see life from different angles. Like I said at the beginning...Its a Life Style😁😁😁
Ive been a member of Dahn Yoga in Bay Ridge for over one year. Ive learned so much! The instructors are very real about what they do, and they are genuinely interested in the health of my body, mind and spirit. I get to make my body healthy and learn to view any pain or discomfort from stretching as a natural sign of healing. I did not believe that, at first, until I decided to trust my instructors and over time, the pains that I thought were going to last my whole lifetime, began to disappear. I also get to meditate in a very easy way. They teach energy meditation which is connected to the whole body and this makes it easy to focus on something other than the fleeting thoughts in my brain. They also offer workshops over weekends that deal with letting go of emotional heaviness and stress. Ive learned to access a new part of my mind through their training that helps me to have better relationships at work and with my family. Thank you Bay Ridge Dahn Yoga!
I was never a person into yoga and mediation. After suffering from severe anxiety last year, I felt it was time to finally give it a try. I have been doing yoga and mediation for the past six months and it has been extremely influential in my life. My anxiety is almost completely gone and my overall life style has changed for the better. Anytime I feel a bit anxious I do the deep breathing exercises and I am fully able to control my anxiety. I also use the breathing exercises to help fall asleep and it completely relaxes me and I am able to fall asleep faster.
I have been a member for 2 years and highly recommend body and brain yoga . I had a sciatica when i joined and in about 4 to 6 months my sciatica was completely gone. I ve also learned so many ralaxations and meditations techniques that help me manage stressful days. By going regularly, 1 to 3 times a week for the last 2 years, my flexibility, balance, posture and brain management have improved a lot. And my core is much stronger and breath much deeper. Over all, body and brain yoga has helped me feel physically and mentally healthier.
Body n Brain in Bay Ridge Brooklyn is AWESOME!!! I had lower back issues and constant head aches, the manager there gave me great advise and exercises that help relieve my pain. Everyone there is so friendly, their studio is so clean, the members there introduce themselves to me and the instructors are so helpful. I highly recommend Body n Brain at Bay Ridge to anyone!
Although I spend a lot of time researching reviews, Ive never actually written one before until today. Ive been a member of BodyNBrain for about 2 months now and the changes Ive noticed in myself are astounding - I am sleeping better, Im recovering from colds faster, my lower back sciatica pains that I used to experience every night are gone, Im more focused, my family has commented that my posture and complexion have improved, and Ive lost weight (including those last couple of pounds of post-baby weight that are supposed to be impossible to lose). My acupuncturist had recommended yoga for my conditions and my mother-in-law, whos a yogi, had once advised that I also need to take a more proactive approach to improving my health. Ive done yoga, Taichi, and Qigong before and experienced the benefits of all - these classes incorporate a bit of everything as well as cardio and brain exercises to keep you fit and alert. Initially, I felt silly while doing some of the exercises, but I felt really good after class - lighter and more relaxed. I started off with three days a week, but noticed a big difference in the way I felt on days I went versus days I didnt go to class so I increased my classes to 5 days a week. Although Im also not the type of person to pay to exercise (I usually walk, engage in other outdoor sports, or do DVDs), Im really glad I signed up for a package that gave me a sample of a workshop and one-on-one session. Since taking the classes, receiving private treatment, participating in workshops, and reading the books, I feel better equipped to cope with stress and empowered with the ability to help myself and my family physically and emotionally. More importantly, Im rediscovering my purpose in this life and the joy I feel when I am helping others, which is why I feel compelled to share my experiences here. We invest financially in our education, our retirement, and our childrens future, so it makes sense to invest in our health so we can actually enjoy the life we worked so hard to build with those we love. Yoga studio is very nice and clean. All classes help me relax and let go of my stress from work.i feel healthier and motivated. Besides that the Center manager and masters are so helpful and knowledgeable about simple ways to practice my breathing and intestine exercises.
I have been practicing yoga at Body & Brain for 9 years. I suffer from chronic lower back pain and sciatica which affects my quality of life. Through yoga, and recently the private healing sessions offered at Body & Brain, I can truly say that I am practically pain free and now able to enjoy many activities that I couldnt participate in before.
Body and brain is place where you can start to feel your body, and get some healthy relief. For me it show me how simple movement can shake off some energies that serve you or doesnt align with you and make room for new positive energy to finally flow. Some of the workshops (Shim Sung- finding your true self workshop) they also provide and getaways( like the trip to Arizona) was really beautiful eye opening moments. It not only a place to move your body and learn , but its a place and a start to connect Mind ,Body and Sprit.
The yoga itself was great. The stretching was fantastic. But the metaphysical stuff like feeling other peoples energy wasnt for me.Also, I understand that money is a vital part of any business, but I just got the feeling that they were too money-focused. The sales pitch at the end was much too intense. I wouldve joined if they hadnt been so pushy about forking over cash right then and there.
After a long period of kundalini meditation and having a kundalini awakening, i became a very ungrounded individual. Too much energy in my upper chakras / energy centers. This led to a lot of insomnia so I utilized the Tai Chi and Yoga exercises at this center which helped me stabilize, ground my energy, & strengthen my core foundation. I am now very centered and am able to go to sleep at 10pm and wake up at 6 or 7am in the morning.After a period of practicing with Master Jang & Master Ricky, I am now much more balanced in my way of life & able to attract more fortunate circumstances in my life & also able to trust my inner intuition.The practices taught here, if done properly, will bring dramatic results to your life. You get what you put in. The people who also complain about financial struggles are the same ones with energy blockages in their meridians which hinder their financial abundance.When you operate at a high vibration, the universe provides you with infinite opportunities for financial, spiritual, physical & mental success.Highly recommend this center. Excellent Place. All the Instructors and Center Manager are extremely caring. They go the extra mile to give that personal attention to each person in the class. The atmosphere is supportive and bright. The exercises are fantastic and really open your Energy Systems regarding Merdians, Accupressure Points and Chakras. Dahn Yoga Bay Ridge is more than just Yoga and Tai Chi, Its a special place of Bayridge and Brooklyn Community as well!
I dont like to write a bad review but...This buisiness is too money-focused. The sales pitch was much too intense - they VERY PUSHY about getting new workshops, annual memberships. Just because of their pressure I got membership for 6 months.I decided to leave this place 2 months before my membership ends. When I asked for a refund, they refused to give it to me because membership cannot be cancelled due to the contract. What?! They even didnt give me and my friend a chance to read it before signing. My friend was smart enough to leave this center in two weeks. I was not that smart to do the same.Their yoga was just ok...Hitting my stomach for 20 minutes like zombie... (they called it abdominal tapping)20 minutes stretching and about 30 minutes meditation... That is not for me, probably that is why there are almost 90% of mature adults Also, they dont even have a free first introductory class - they asking for 25$ and right after the first class pushing to sign the contract. And a few weeks later male teacher asked me to share my positive review on google/yelp,,, So now it is a time for my very honest review.I think yoga is supposed to be centering, intuitive, friend honest, open, healthy.This place has the complete opposite philosophy at its core Go somewhere else, pretty much anywhere else where you come to relax from your day. So disappointed. Will never go back! Or recommend to anyone, thanks for reading.
I really liked the class here! What I liked most were the instructors, BB and Danielle. I have never seen such bright and genuinely happy faces in my WHOLE LIFE!!! I want to come there everyday just to be in their presence!!! The class itself was delightful--lots of stretching that was not too challenging, but not too easy, either. I really loved at the end where we got to lie down and just BREATHE! Whew! What a relief! I felt pounds of stress melting off of me. I liked it so much that I signed up for more classes after just one class! I want to keep MORE of this GOOD THING in my life. I hope you will, too!
Born and raised in New york, living in most boroughs, ive done multiple styles of yoga and martial arts and seen the most prestige locations NY studios can offer, but ive never encountered a place quite like this one. Similar to my martial arts dojo they greeted me with a half bow and a bright smile. SOLD! in new york its hard to find a humble practice where there is no competition and friendly staff (and people who smile haha). Clean and tidy facility. Instructors met with me often to go over my goals and seen to it that i met my own expectations, offering different stretches and breathing exercises that fit custom to my condition. It was a pleasant experience.
Since I came to dahn yoga 5yrs , my life completely changed.the classes are more than stretching.it is complete holistic practice for your body and mind. I could aware of my emotion and control it better! Now I am happy and live my life totally differently. Thank you to dahn yoga and great staffs!
This place is the best . It helps your health in a lot of ways to get better . Its healthy for your brain and body . Taking private session with Master Jang , she is truly a healer . I feel so good after. Everyone should make time for themselves and have classes it will deffently help for better .
This is a wondeful place to recharge your batteries! They have different types of classes so find out which one you are going to. I went to the VIBE class and had a fun time while the regular and Tai Chi classes are indeed different. I am going back for sure. Check it out!
I continue to do well concerning the health issues which I had when I started classes at Body and Brain. Im maintaining a healthy weight. As a diabetic, my numbers continue to go down and I can now see my Doctor every six months instead of every 3-4. I wasnt sure that diabetes could be reversed but little by little Im getting there.

2022-08-24Body&Brain Yoga Tai Chi is amazing! After 3 months, my back pain is gone; My body becomes much more flexible; energy level is boosted. Even more, by taking their workshops, I find my purpose of life after searching for many years. I still could not believe that they really helped me achieve it. 2022-03-15I have been coming to this center pretty regularly for about 3 months and it has been a very good experience overall. The yoga movements while mostly simple really help me to stay in my body and make me more present. The team is great and make it overall a very satisfying and enjoyable experience.

2022-08-17Thai chi has been a great experience for me. This place offers a more personal experience than other places. Classes include an easy flow to follow and it can address the needs of any group age people. You will receive the right knowledge to apply to your daily life activities. Workshops are another way to experience Thai chi at a deeper level.

2022-04-13I feel good at Body and Brain Yoga and Taichi Bay Ridge center. It’s 5 blocks away from my house. Since l started to practice my yoga exercises with the center I feel more healthy and peaceful.The center instructors are very nice and sincere. So grateful we all can practice together.

2022-04-16I thought it would be helpful for my back problem, but it exasperated my condition. I find the instructors are a little pushy. It’s not one size fits all. I also had a problem with how many people were in one small room with not very good ventilation. They are quick to sign you up for 3 months!Take a class or two before you make such a large investment. You won’t be getting a refund if it doesn’t work out!

2021-04-17The Body & Brain Yoga center in Bay Ridge is AMAZING! They have a nice clean welcoming facility and the people there are great. While during the pandemic Body & Brain Yoga did online classes to keep their members healthy and help ease the anxiety and stress from the pandemic. I found their online classes very useful and beneficial. Now they are open and allowing people to come in and have class again, so Im really excited about this. The instructors there are friendly and knowledgeable and they helped me to make my concentration better by doing simple exercises. I definitely recommend Body & Brain Yoga to anyone who wants to better their health.

2021-10-26I would highly recommend the Body and Brain Studio. I have been coming to the studio for almost 6 months and attend 3 classes a week. As a professional in the medical field, things can become very stressful. The classes help me remain physically healthy, and most importantly help foster healthy mental health habits.Doing the practice is something I find to be extremely helpful in decreasing stress and creating a work/ life balance.

2021-10-26I can not say enough wonderful things about the Body & Brain Studio in Bay Ridge! In early August I stumbled in with questions and curiosity and was immediately welcomed with open arms (literally!). There was something so calm and soothing during that first visit that I knew this place was different - and exactly what I was looking for! Since then I have benefited enormously from their classes. They are like little hugs for your body and soul. The classes have also really helped my lower back pain which I didnt think was possible and I have even seen some weight loss (yay!) Most of all I feel so good when I walk out - refreshed, energized and twice as happy. A special shout out to Master SeoYeon, Master Fred, and Master Umi - they are all incredible and a huge part of what makes this studio so valuable. I am so happy and grateful that I stumbled into this magical little place!! Thank you!

2019-04-20I cant believe Im writing this review only now after having joined Body & Brain Yoga 20 years ago! I have taken many different variations of yoga classes but this is the best one by far. Due to my overwhelmingly intense work schedule, high level of stress and not being able to exercise regularly, I got diagnosed with hyperthyroid 2 years ago, then developed frozen shoulder on my both shoulders (back to back). After realizing how stress and a lack of exercise can take a toll on my body, I was determined to get my health back on track. I went back to this yoga center and maintained to go to classes at least 3 times a week. I have also taken private healing sessions/classes with Master Geum to treat my frozen shoulder in conjunction with my physical therapy sessions. Over time within last 6 months, I continued to go to yoga classes and phased out PT sessions gradually. As a result, my right shoulder is completely cured and my left shoulder is almost recovered. During the course of recovery, it also helped managing my shoulder pains without taking pain medication. Also, my recent lab results came back completely normal with excellent TSH, T4 level. Furthermore, with the help of regular practice of yoga, I know how to handle stressful situation better with breathing techniques and meditation. I am sharing this review to genuinely help anyone who needs to improve their health condition or just to maintain a healthy life style. I am very grateful that I found this yoga when I needed it most.
