Dont be fooled by cheap prices. We have used Bolton Boats for a number of years. Prices were good. We overlooked their unprofessionalism b/c boats were cheaper then elsewhere. Boats were beat up but they did the job. A few of them died on the water and we had to get towed. This year they canceled our 10 day boat reservation a day before we were set to arrive. The manger I spoke to was rude and condescending. Instead of helping us try to find an alternative he just kept saying theres nothing he could do and hung up on me. Our vacation was booked 9 months out. We were camping on the islands and our only means of transportation to the island was this boat. The manager didnt care. Despite our years of using them i would never return.
This boat rental is very unreliable and unprofessional. We reserved two boats a week in advance, called a day before to make sure the reservations were still in place, yet when we came, they said they have no recollection of our reservations. They ended up giving us boats that were too small for our trip of 13. After an hour of waiting we finally got onto the boats, and we had to remind them to give us life jackets. Then they made us get off the boat again so they could back the boat out of the dock. Overall, it took two hours to finally get into our boats (not even the ones else reserved and payed for. I do not suggest going to this place if you want a stress free family day.
Very friendly staff. The original boat we were given had an issue with the engine, so they upgraded us to the next class of boat at no extra charge. There’s a bit of a wait to register and get going, but otherwise they were very accommodating. The sport boat we upgraded to was great. (And FYI the sport boats are in better condition than the inboard bow riders).
We had a great experience. Every review for boat rentals in this area are questionable as in many cases people are charged for damages they feel they didnt cause, which is a risk you take when renting a boat from ANYWHERE. In our case we had no issues with Bolton Boat Rentals. Some boats look a little more worn than others, I would suggest spending a little more on a bigger boat. We arrived and they no longer had the boat we reserved in their fleet, so they set aside a different boat, that was bigger, faster & a much better than what we reserved, at no additional cost. Hours are 9-6, we arrived at 9:15, and were out on the water by 9:35. They pulled the boat out for us rather quickly and went over safety and operating procedures. You have an opportunity to look over the boat & inspect the propeller. Look VERY closely at the propeller, any dent, chip or mark be sure to make a comment, they will record any issues, so when you return they can reference any previous damage you noticed. The staff was pleasant and informative. They also provide a map of the lake. Our family had a great time and I would rent from Bolton Boat Rentals again.
We rented a boat for a full day (9am - 5pm), we arrived at 8:30 am and did not get on the boat until around 10:00 am. The boats were not prepared for the day and they definently were not prepared for the crowd. When we got on our boat it was very old looking and stalled out on us about a quarter of the way out of the wake zone. We got towed back into the wake zone and then the employees boat broke down on him. We did have a good boating experience. HOWEVER, ALL the employees were extremely nice and very helpful even under a large crowd and the stress of rescuing two boats.
Badly beat up pontoons. Radio didn’t function, anchor wasn’t heavy enough for boat. They definitely do not clean these boats either as we found toenails, dental flossers and other garbage in the boat. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money and go with a legitimate boat rental company. STAY FAR AWAY!!
First off, you have to know what you are doing before you rent a boat...how many people, how fast do you need to go, and exactly when do you plan to go. Reserve as far in advance as you can, because the morning rush is always crazy. Be very specific as to what you want, so you get what you want. That being said, Bolton Boat Rentals probably has the lowest prices on Lake George. We just rented a 25ft pontoon for a week. It was in great condition, ran great, no problems in, out, or back to the docks. Other places may seem fancier, but if you work with them in advance, you will get a better price here and be just as happy with the boat. Be smart, and take pictures of the boat and propeller before you leave the dock, just like renting a car.
Beware from Going there! They would scam you with more money even without letting you know. We rented a boat for half day from them and we were told to be back by 4:30 .. the person who came us to brief the boat mentioned that this is a busy marina and could take some time to dock you. Until you are in our vision we wont charge you the late fees.We reached there at 4:20 and were waiting for the team to help us dock as there were 4 boats ahead, We went to counter to even pay the surcharge gas amount and for the anchor that we broke and the receipt says that charge was done at 4:45Later i see additional charge of $121.10 from them. I called them and i was told it is for late fees. After arguing that we were there and waiting for your team to dock us the manager bluntly says ok then dispute it, We can’t do anything. And he also bluntly lied saying you didn’t even show up to counter after returning to the dock. I have a receipt to prove the same. After i told him that he just hung up.BEWARE from going there to save yourself from all the hassle.
My family rented a 20-foot pontoon boat today (June 27, 2019) and the experience was great. When coming on Google to give them this rating, I was surprised to see all the horrible ratings and bad experiences - and feel bad customers had to go through that. After doing a little research, I found out that some of the personnel had changed there recently. That probably explained our positive experience today. The two people we dealt with today were Stephanie and Jago. They couldn’t have been nicer and the boat was in great shape.
We have been camping on lake George many years. We have found this marina to be the most accomadating to our boating needs. They have even ferried our late arriving family members to our camp site.A more personal service, you wont find!If we need a boat for one day or two weeks. They always seem to have something for us use, until something more suitable becomes available. And yes boats have broken down on us and They were quick to get us back on the water with either a quick repair or a replacement. Still enabling us to enjoy our well deserved vacation.I guess it also helps when the marina also runs the only towing service on the lake. Thanks for the memories
If I could give zero stars I would. Do not book with these people! booked our boat for 19 before we arrived to lake George, was given a contract, the night before our scheduled ride they called and cancelled due to damaged boat! We had 10 kids looking forward to this outing (not to mention the adults too!) And they had no empathy. Literally cursed us out and hung up. We will never know why they cancelled but Im 100% sure they overbooked, since someone in the office slipped and said another group paid in cash! This has been the busiest summer for Lake George and clearly some companies just dont know how to handke it. We ended up getting two boats from Plantoon Rentals on Canada ave, much later in the day and were happy with them.
Terrible.. terrible business. Very unprofessional from young staff and so called manager that was about 20 years old with no respect. Used profanity while trying to find out why they canceled our boat the night before when we had a contract. We found out they they double book and then say the boat got damaged and dont give you any other options. If you dont want your vacation ruined there are many other good boat rental places to use. Wish i could give 0 stars.
Just wanted to give a shout out to the crew at Bolton Boat Rental. I had made reservations for a 130-260hp boat ahead of time. I arrived early and Observed Jamie and Isabella cleaning all the boats for the upcoming days rentals. Everyone was super friendly and accommodating. Manager Stephanie was a pleasure to deal with and very informative. Everyone together made this an awesome experience for my wife and children. We rented the Silverline and a tube for a full day. It was amazing and very memorable. Would definitely return for future rentals. Thankyou to everyone at Bolton Rentals. Stephanie was above and beyond in her customer service and answered all my questions with a smile.
To all the good people of New York and Tri-State area, run, dont walk as fast as you can in the opposite direction of this Boat Rental business. Its difficult to even call this place a business, unless you consider breaking contracts, lying and offering poorly maintained boats a business. Truly a stain on the Bolton Landing Community! We were a confirmed reservation for a weekly rental only to show up and find out that our boat was not available. Try explaining that to your family that was so looking forward to getting away for a week at Lake George during these difficult times. Nothing but lies from the young woman managing the business and must be employed by an owner driven by greed prioritizing daily rentals which bring in more money. Please do yourself a favor and keep your familys vacation intact by staying away from this garbage!
We rented a 25’ tri toon boat today. We arrived at 9:15 AM for a full day rental and did not get in the lake until almost 10:30 AM. The staff has to put the boats in the water as people arrive and it took awhile. Upon asking about staying out later, they gave us extra time at no additional charge. The boat was pretty dirty overall, which we were surprised about, especially with the CoVid 19 concerns, however we did come prepared. The boat ran very well with no issues, however it seemed a bit underpowered for a choppy lake and 11 people, especially when pulling a tube. Overall, we had a great day though!
Terrible experience. Went to pick up the paperwork in hand the day before our reservation due to the fact we didn’t have a printer during vacation. Asked what time to show up for our 9:00AM reservation and they told us 8:50. We figured that was cutting it close so we arrived at 8:15. Even though our paperwork was completed as we were told to do, we still were stuck in line for over an hour while they dealt with other parties whose reservations they overbooked. We didn’t get on our boat until after 10:00am. When asked for longer time due to waiting 2 hours we were told no. So we asked for some sort of discount on gas since we lost about an 1 1/2 hours of paid time. Once again were told no. At least our party got a boat, there were 4 other parties that day who got told their boat was out after receiving confirmation emails and paying and the staff did nothing to try to help them. Highly recommend spending a little bit more money with a more professional company!!!
All around great experience! The staff was knowledgeable and helpful and easy to work with...the owners son went above and beyond and I was impressed by the way he handled the boats for a 14 year old.We originally rented the boat for 3 days and added a 4th and they were accommodating.I was a little worried at first to rent here because of some of the reviews but Im glad we did..I can understand some of the comments the boat could use some updates but lets be honest its a rental and in no way affected our day or the hours of fun my kids had.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHAM BUSINESS!I think this may be the worst review Ive ever written.SHORT STORY- took my credit card info for money, and never answered the phone or emails at any point after that. Ended up cancelling my credit card because the bank said it sounded like FRAUD.LONG STORY if you want to read it -Sent email in mid July on their site to reserve boat. They emailed back a quote which was fast and helpful. I sent back a question to ask if we could bring a pup. This is where helpful ended. I tried calling twice over the next week, no answer, no return call. I sent two more emails. Nothing.I finally got someone on the phone on July 30, who took my info, card number and date, said I didnt need a deposit, they would charge my card for the rental and security when I got there. He said there would be a confirmation email.I hung up and realized I forgot to ask about the pup. I know that was my fault. So I tried to call back. Nothing. Except a phone message that said they wont take a phone reservation! uh-oh.And on we go.So I called (according to my cell phone) 24 times in two weeks. Not a single call was answered, or returned. Messages left were not returned. I emailed several times. Nothing.I sent an email stating my concerns (and seriously, im nice and super patient with busy people. Im not a call your manager angry girl). I would think that a business would see a concern about fraud in their office and call back concerned immediately..... or sometime.I finally yesterday, called my bank and explained what happened. They said it sounded like I fell for a fraud scheme of some kind and suggested I cancel my card so it wouldnt be charged. Before I did that, I called again and left a message and sent one last email. Still nothing from anyone there. So now I have a new card coming. And no other place has a rental available now. I wish I gone with another place.PLEASE learn from my mistakes and find a better, more reliable, less shady place of business. Even costing more, at least youd have a boat.
They double booked the boats and tell you they have openings for the next day when you get there and tell you to come back for half price. They didnt have the boat I reserved and gave me a much smaller boat for half price of that boat. I wasnt the only one that day with the same problem. I would not recommend them.
The good: price, i called a few place and this seemed like one of the better priced places for boat rentals although i missed that parking was extra this was offsetby getting a 10% discount for paying in cash. Thier pontoons also had larger outboards than the other places we called which is good if you have a lot of people or you want to pull a tube or ski.The not so good: the boat they rented us was beat to hell, and dirty they didnt even vacuum up the crumbs from the previous renters. I understand that as long as the boat is structurally and mechanically sound youre good to go but for $500 for 7 hours Id hoped for something a bit less beat up. In fairness to the guy who seemed to be running the show. The boat ran great on the water and he offered to refund my money before we went out.
We arrived and our boat was broken the day before by another customer, We were able to get transferred into another boat it was one class better than we reserved for the same price$, I was very concerned about the reviews, but after dealing with the staff and watching on how hard they tried to get us into a boat I would go no other place.for 2022 and 2023 there geting all new boats .wow this place is concerned about you having a good time on the lake,
Last summer my family and I had our boat break down in the middle of the lake one afternoon when we decided to take our boat out. I had experienced engine trouble and the boat when a drift Called Tow boat US and had the staff come rescue and tow us back to shore. Wayne and his staff helped me and my family every step, and even made it one of the best trips to the lake ever. They worked with us on everything and was even able to get a boat rental for the remainder of our trip without having anymore worries all thanks to the excellent staff at Bolton boat rentals.
We had a 8 day reservation for a boat only to be called 36 hours prior to our reservation saying our boat was in an accident and provided no solutions or wanted to even help. Thanks for canceling a vacation for 25 people and now we’re stuck eating the camping reservations.I was going here for over 15 years ignoring all the small issues and problems. Not anymore. Sorry.
Rented a 20 ft Tri-Toon. The boat was in great shape and ran well out on the lake, even in a light chop. The staff was friendly and helpful.I just have one heads up to offer for time planning expectations, and it is not a criticism. The company has limited dock space, so when you show up to rent they may have to take your rental boat from storage and launch it after you sign the paperwork. This process can take a while if there are a lot of parties waiting, especially first thing in the morning. It took us an hour and a half after arriving until we departed on the boat. The staff were obviously working their butts off to get paperwork filled out, launch boats, and get people checked out and familiar with the boats. I would use this company again and recommend them.
Had a horrible experience with this place. I was first told over the phone when I first made the reservation that I would be getting one of there newer boats and when I arrived the boat had to be atleast 10-15 years old and not in good condition, nor was it cleaned. The seats were all dirty and there was still a few left over empty bottles from the previous renter(just proves they dont really care to clean there boats for the next renters)The first day on the boat was okay but then on our second day about an hour after we left the dock we had engine trouble and had to go all the way back to there marina and waste about 2 1/2 hours of our day just for the them to look at it for 5 minutes and send us back out. We spoke to one of the staff members about this issue and they said they would be able to work something out and give us some of our money back since we had this trouble but when it came down to them actually giving us some of our money back they gave us a problem and not to mention how rude some of the staff members are. This place is not professional at all, and should really learn to treat customers with respect. I will never return back to this place, for the amount of money I paid just to rent a boat for 2 days you would think they would be alittle more understanding and nicer to there customers, especially when they give you a boat that barely runs.
Boat broke down in the middle of the lake, ever time past 1/2 throttle made a weird clunk and stopped moving had to limp it back. Then was quite satisfied when i was given a little bit better boat as far as power. When we returned everything went as planned and someone called us back to the boat to say the propeller was slightly bent on one fin. I didnt have pictures of this propeller because we had quickly just switched to this boat. I sighed and said what now. I was told, its $195 but its not to bad if you didnt notice any droving issuses then ur all set. When i hot to the counter i was happy and relieved but tgats when out of no where she sais thatll be $243 how would you like to pay. So i was told we were fine and all set then, what i felt like was tricked, into payinganother 243 for the prop and gas on top of the 250 i spent to rent the little boat for 4 hours. The boats all had issues and pretty beat up especially for the same price you can rent brand new right up the road. It started off great and quickly went down hill.
The people running Bolton Boat Rentals were stand-up people to us - AND WE WRECKED SOME OF THEIR EQUIPMENT and ended up leaving with a discount of sorts!! Heres the story...We rented a 10hp boat for 3 days of island camping on Lake George. Stephanie and Alex helped us when we arrived. Stephanie was very pleasant and polite. Alex was helpful and kind, offering to carry much of our gear to the end of the dock. He also helped our two kids (6 and 2) get fitted for PFDs. We went over the boat together and I made sure that we looked at the propeller for any damage (there wasnt any). Almost as soon as we were set to take off, it started to downpour. Alex helped us carry our stuff back to the car and we waited out the rain. He offered to taxi us out to our site and bring the boat later, but we declined and just waited out the storm.Im not a super experienced operator, but I have just enough experience to be confident. The boat performed flawlessly for our first day and we had a beautiful day boating around and exploring. Probably a total of about 10-12 miles. Lake George is different than the lakes Im used to in Minnesota. Its much rockier. And though the shallow areas are well-marked with buoys, on our second day, it was choppy and I didnt see a buoy until it was too late. Even though we were 15 feet away from it, we were between it and an island and we hit a rock for less than a second. I inspected and found that wed put some nicks in the propeller and scraped up the skeg. After making it back to our campsite, I immediately called and spoke with Alex and explained the damage, because I didnt want them to be caught unaware the next day when we returned the boat (maybe it had already been rented out to some one else). He was very relaxed and professional. He said if it was just a scrape and wed made it back to the site, we were probably okay to drive it another day. He said if the drive shaft was damaged, there could be an issue and it would be an expensive repair. On our last day, when we set out for a picnic lunch, the boat stalled and wouldnt start again. We were able to paddle to a nearby campsite and have a picnic as we waited for the tow boat (which is also operated out of Bolton Boat Rentals marina). Turns out, the pump on the fuel line was empty, so the motor wasnt getting fuel, but I didnt have enough experience to know that and was worried about damaging the motor further if the rock incident had caused more damage than met the eye.The towboat accompanied us back to the marina (we were able to motor back on our own without being towed) to make sure we could make it. When we arrived, Alex looked over the boat and said the damage wasnt that bad but his boss wouldnt be happy if he just let it slide. I insisted that we cover the damage we did to the boat, so they charged us for a replacement propeller (about $80 for this particular motor). They were really appreciative that we called in the damage ahead of time. It really seemed like that was the exception rather than the rule, as they told us stories about people who try to get away without paying for damages they do to the boats. Again, they were all very professional, including the owners 14-year-old nephew, who couldnt have been kinder in explaining the damage, offering to help carry all of our stuff from the end of the dock and load it up, and just being an all around nice young man. Some one thanked us for calling in the damage and after we tipped the three guys who operated the tow boat $20, because they didnt charge us for the tow that we didnt need, even though they came all the way out to escort us back, they gave us 10% off our next boat rental. It seems like a tough business to be in, made tougher by people not being up-front about their skill level or the damage theyre responsible for.I was initially put off by some of the reviews, but after a friend recommended them, we decided to go for it anyway. Im glad we did. Well definitely rent from them again.
I have been trying to rent a boat from this place for the last two weeks. When I called, they were extremely rude and unprofessional, and the only thing they kept saying was to go online and make a reservation. I do that and then I am supposed to get an email confirmation which I never get. This is 6 days ahead of the reservation time so I start calling and every day they said that I will be getting the confirmation email by 5pm. Suddenly, 3 days before the reservation they said that they are sold out despite the fat that I made a reservation.I tried to ask her how things work, and she was very rude and unprofessional. I definitively can see why so many people had written bad reviews about this terrible place.
Horrible business. Poor customer service. We had a boat rental agreement for our week vacation. They never had a boat for us. The boats that they do have are in horrible shape. The place looks like a junkyard. You book a boat with this place you most likely will not get one. Go anywhere else.
Disappointed in the rental. Boats are pretty worn out and turned over to the next customer dirty. Guages dont work and its just sub-par.Rates are better than some of the others but you get what you pay for.Breakdowns are not uncommon.Ill pass next time and try another outfit.I didnt expect to rent a new boat, but their equipment is pretty tired.Facility reflects same. Stephanie was very nice however.
Wayne, you say you give refunds to dissatisfied customers. My boat was sinking and you refused to give me a refund and told me to the leave the property!Staff is rude and not helpful. The boats are dirty, worn and are not maintained. They didnt even have a ladder for the family to get on and off the boat safely when anchoring at the beaches. After we left the dock we noticed 30 minutes later we were taking on water. When calling them, they said bring the boat back (weird thing: they didnt seem surprised that we were sinking). When we got back the distraught family got off the boat. The manager said we can have another boat. I explained to him the family will not get back on a boat after this experience. The manager said you can leave but youre not getting a refund.Horrible boats and even worse service. Pay the extra money up front and stay away from these crooks.
Avoid at all cost!! Dont be fooled by lower prices. I rented from these people two years ago and had a terrible experience which I disputed with the credit card company and was forced to pay them. The ski boat I rented was very difficult to start and we were dead in the water for hours. The fuel gauge and night lights were inoperative. While dead in the water near Diamond Island at midday, they failed to answer my call for help. I returned the boat early because I could not trust the engine would start for me. Quite a disappointment!
Awful experience. Understaffed, rude and poorly run business to start. Reserved a boat for a day, when speaking with David on the phone, I specifically asked if we arrived after 9, would our boat still be held? He advised that once you reserve it, its yours no matter what time we arrive. Well, we arrived and had to wait at least 20 mins before we were helped. After signing a bunch of paperwork, we were told to go to end of dock to be helped. There was only 1 employee, who was very rude, helping ppl get their boats. There were only 2 parties in front of me, however, it took at least an hour and a half, just to be told your boat didnt come back last night. They tried to substitute our boat with a smaller boat, which would not have fit out entire party. I requested a refund and did eventually get it. The owner, was very rude and refused to give me copies of the paperwork I signed but I refused to leave until I received it. He never once said sorry that he ruined our day. The boats are NOT new as a previous review stated, they were all old and falling apart. I should have known better, the cheapest place is always the worst place. Save time and aggravation and go somewhere where they actually care about their business and more importantly, their customers.
Their fleet is beat. The pontoon boat wouldn’t start and didn’t have any awning or shade at all. I paid 450$ Over a month in advance and that’s what we got. They did give our money back after some discussion. Next time I’ll pay a little extra and not have the highlight of our family vacation ruined. The pictures of the boats on their website aren’t accurate.
This place spoiled my vacation. We booked a boat for 7 people (a bowrider) 2 weeks in advance. Went to the marina and filled out the paperwork etc. We had to wait over 1 hr to get the boat but to our disappointment they told us that the boat we rented was not available. They brought a different boat with 5 seats (not a bowrider). They did not seem to care that 2 people in our party had to sit on the floor. We refused to accept the 5 seat boat and had to get our money back. By this time we could not rent another boat from a different boat rental because they were all booked up. The staff is unfriendly and unprofessional. Most of the boats are at least 20 years old. My wife asked to use the rest room and was told the rest room was broken for the rest of the season. She was directed to a dirty outside out-house not fit for humans. I also observed staff members smoking near the fuel pumps next to open containers of gasoline. Dont be fooled by the cheaper prices or your vacation will be spoiled. Rent a boat elsewhere.
Avoid this place like the Plauge. They rented us a totaled boat and it was broken down 2 days out of 5. Bad experience, dont come if you want a running boat. The owner tried to say that a rope was wrapped around the prop which was his excuse not to return us any money after he admitted that he rented us a TOTALED boat. Also, my son cut his leg open on the boat which had major safety hazards where the ladder was to climb on the boat. Terrible business. DO NOT come here!
Great location, easy to find. Reasonable prices, based on the condition of the boats. Service was good. Im 26, I wasnt paying attention to the wear and tear of the boat. Save some money, put a smile on your face and have fun. If you have limited budget and you want to stay on one of the islands then you are in good hands.
My husband and I went here yesterday and got a boat for a few hours - $300. no problem. on our ride we did hear a little gfrrrwwg sound while driving - no idea what it was - but we did hit something. couldve been anything. a beer can, a log, turtle - who knows. We didnt think anything of it, until we got back - and they claimed we broke the propeller as well as the lower housing of the motor. $200 for propeller and $859 for the housing. Now, prior to boarding, they did say take pictures! And we did. I will not argue too much about the propeller. They took the boat onto land after we returned, and the propeller did looked a little bent compared to our pictures prior to boarding. Fine. $200 on top of our $300 fee. I wont argue too much with it, even though we disagree.HOWEVERWe will not agree with being charged for this hairline fracture that you cannot see in the lower housing. The sons owner claimed that there was a hairline fracture that cannot be seen that we broke, and he has to replace the lower housing of the motor. This was not something that we could have taken a picture of when we first boarded the boat, since it is not visible while the boat is in the water.we argued that how can we know it wasnt already there? his answer?well we wouldnt have let it out for rent if that was the case.and how the hell would they know that? would the boat drive differently? would it wobble? if it would have, then my husband and I wouldve felt the difference in the boat since we hit that beer can (or whatever it was). BUT NO, the boat drove the same. no issues.HOW DO THEY KNOW IT WASNT ALREADY THERE???This seems like a classic case of a company, waiting for the next customer who does a little damage to the propeller just so they can instantly tack on the cost of the motor housing. Its a great business model, isnt it? You need to fix your boat - wait for the next customer you can blame it on so someone else will pay for your boat maintenance.the sister, who was the nicest of them all, who has been at the register all day long - at the time it comes to charging us this obscene charges, she all of a sudden has a tummy ache, and made her brother do it. It was almost as if she doesnt want to partake in this crooked business activity her father and brothers are known to do. Nice girl - (she was the one we spoke to on the phone the previous day before deciding to come to this place) Coincidence with the tummy ache or not?We shouldve read these reviews and taken them more seriously. This company has a 2.5 star rating on TripAdvisor, and a low 3 Star here on Google, multiple complaints about the rude father and son - but they were big and had a good location so we went anyway. A wonderful $1600 mistake.
My family and I rented a boat from here, And the boat was all torn up and looked nasty. Our boat broke down twice while we were in the middle of the lake. We had to be towed out and brought back to the dock. The manager was nasty , had no customer service skills and refused to refund us half of the day we didn’t use. Would NOT recommend.
The price was great as well as the girl on the phone who let me reserve the boat, once we arrived to the Marina and got got our boat the life jackets were in terrible condition, as well as the tube, my boyfriend had to carry one up to the front to see if we could get it filled with air. We had to wait about 35 minutes to get into the boat bc they have the dock run by two kids about 13 years old, they did there best but on a Sunday they were over whelmed. The boat had no awning, there was old chips and other snack crushed to the floor and mud foot prints on the seats. The worst part was when we went out on the water and tried to anchor, the anchor was not set up, it was in knots with nylon rope, and was too small for an 18 ft boat with 6 adults, we drifted two times and almost hit a another boat. When we returned to the dock we looked for the manager Brendan who was no where to be found. Oh and they charge you $10.00 to park in there parking lot. Stick to Yankee boat rentals they are so much more professional and give you a map. Its worth the extra $50.00.
Was there today... nice people they took the time to answer all my questions about the different boats they had including pricing. our boat was nice with a bimini thank goodness because it was a really sunny day. the boat ran well the whole time. nice time on the water. nice people to rent from.
Experience makes all the difference!Family owned and operated since the marina went by the name Lake George Camping. Dont give this place your business. Our experience: We were in disbelief by the actions of the owner wayne upon renting a boat today. After wildly speeding into the deiveway nearly hitting several patrons he proceeded to rudely scream obscenities at his employees, accusing them of running his business into the ground. He then proceeded to back several boats into the water and rudely shouted at patrons to get the explicative out of the way. Another employee pulled in and Wayne then screamed a mess of obscenities at him. I asked the employee what Waynes deal was and apparently he is always this way. Wayne was told he owed us an apology for his behavior to which he stated give them their money back and send them away. After well over an hour of this $#!T show of an operation, we were rudely chastised then ordered off the very boat we were mistakenly told to board. When we questioned this rudeness the owners son threw our contract in our face and asked us to leave. I will be contacting the better business Bureau, tow boat USA, the Lake George Chamber of Commerce and any other venue possible to inform people to avoid this dump at all cost
Rented a boat for four days, was told I damaged the propeller upon return, although I did no such thing. Added $190 to the cost of my rental. Think twice before renting from this place. They may be advertising lower prices than the competition, but in the end you might end up paying more
Worst experience. faulty boats. bad customer service. got stranded in the lake for almost 2 hours with 3 year old kid. official complaint lodged with police authority. will never do business with them and will suggest all other prospective customers to stay away from these people.
Worst experience ever. The picture looks nothing like the origial boat. It was super bad and dirty. We asked the management for upgrade and therw was nothing for us. The guy have a very baf behavior. Then the best thing happened. Our boat sopped in the middle of the lake.DONT BOOK THIS. WORST EVER.
This was by far THE WORST experience that we have ever had with renting boats in Lake George, the places we usually go to were booked so we found this place...what a mistake...first of all they were 1/2 hour late getting there..they opened at 9 and showed up a little after 9:30...we had a party of 10 for a pontoon boat that had mold on the seats...the seats had rips everywhere...there were cob webs and spider sacs in the roof of the boat...as we started driving the water was splashing up and coming onto the floor of the boat and rat poop came washing out from under the seats!!! He literally backed the boat out and sent us on our way...when we were leaving he said youll be good with gas for the day...we are half way through our day and the boat dies...we ran out of gas...took over an hour to get out to us to give us gas...I really wish I had read through the reviews before I booked this rental..
Terrible service, unprofessional employees. To avoid dealing with them, we filled up our gas tank elsewhere before return and they still charged us an unexplainable $10 for no apparent reason. We paid the money because we didnt want to deal with these unprofessional people.I would not recommend this place to anyone.
We were enjoying it at first but after our time was up we were heading back and we were a bit lost.We called the place and they gave us some directions and she didn’t say anything about a bridge so when we followed the directions they gave us we were headed for the bridge and our boat was pretty big,so we probably were going to go over but we were wrong it bent and broke down. When we reach and were parking our boat , a worker says in a loud voice “you went under the boat didn’t you”.My daughter was crying and so was my nice they were scared they were going to lose so much but we got of the boat.

2022-06-30Worst place ever scam alert!! Initially very friendly until they get your money. Then they start to reel you in giving discount if paid in cash which technically they said tax free so they’re frauding even the government. Make sure to take pictures of the whole boat which we did. They blame you for damages and things that were already there. Spend your money else where. Crooks shame on you !!!! Dishonest business

2021-08-08I see all these reviews of the bad service and the quality of the boats but I beg to differ. We got there at opening time and they had us out on the water within thirty minutes. When we got into the boat, it was very nice and gave us no problems throughout the day. We also experienced excellent treatment. All the staff were friendly and helpful. They showed us places we could dock and eat on the map as well as good places to tube, waterski and wakeboard. So all in all Bolton Landing Boat Rentals is a great boat rental and I 100% recommend you go there if you want to spend the day on Lake George.

2021-08-12PROPELLER SCAM! The manager at this boating company is the worst. When we came back from our trip, the manager rushed over to look at the propeller before we even got out of the boat. He claimed we damaged the propeller of the boat and charged us 240$ even though we didn’t hit anything. The manager then said that we should have taken a picture of the boat, but the staff member did not mention that before we left in the morning. He then said “Let’s go look at the paperwork”. On the paper, he marked that the boat and propeller was new even though it clearly was not. Every seat of the boat was torn and there was dirt everywhere. The manager clearly set us up and knew exactly what he was doing. Spend your money somewhere else.

2021-07-14Outstanding service! We arrived and the process was simple and there was no crowd. Kyle familiarized us with the boat and gave us some good places for our family to enjoy while out on the lake. Our boat was clean and made for an excellent day on the water. I would highly recommend Bolton Boat Rentals.

2022-06-30Cheap and definitely not worth the money for the 2500 dollars that they took from me and the whole boat was torn the manager is disrespectful and they supposedly “employees” don’t know what they are doing.

2022-06-30The stuff was very unprofessional an 18 year old kid was the manager very loud, they only told us lies, wasted most of our day and everybody that works there is the owners relative with no experience of running the business , I usually give with people with low rating a chance but the reviews on this place were all true and worse
