Boscovs in other cities:
I came in desperate as could be because I needed a pair of glasses that same day. I am a contact wearer and had just been diagnosed with a really bad abrasion on my left eye and needed to be able to see- terrible eyesight. I had my prescription and fortunately the eye doctor I had seen before did put the glasses prescription on there as well, and the gentleman had the lenses!! I picked out frames and fully expected to be told to come back at the end of the day to pick them up. NOPE! Within 45 minutes I was ready to go!!I will never go to another eye doctor/optician until this man retires, regardless of insurance. The customer service and care alone are worth every penny, and with that said- I wasn’t charged and arm and a leg either!! I am thoroughly impressed, and happy!
Locally owned and a great benefit to the Broome county area. The workers are down to earth and accept different kinds of people as the same. Prices are around normal but sometimes that store will have great deals. Great Job Mr. Boscov... I hear he is a real down to earth guy.
LOVE this department store. Although department stores are a fading memory, even my daughter and granddaughter always look forward to an entire day at Boscovs when they come to visit. Great merchandise from Calvin Klein to more inexpensive brands. The best sales merchandise ever!!!
I ordered a couch online back in the end of March. I was told it would be delivered in 6-8 weeks. Yet I did not receive any update until I decided to email them. I emailed them on week 7, 8, 9, and 10. And each time they were unhelpful and just said that it wasnt in yet. I just got it today and it has been just about 19 weeks. I understand that furniture is on back order but then I shouldnt have been given the time frame of 6-8 weeks. They should have also have tried to keep me updated instead of me constantly reaching out to them. Overall its been a very frustrating experience.
Not an entirely huge selection of mens clothing however in a pinch relatively not too bad. Prices are reasonable but slightly more than other retailers.Awesome people that work there, always friendly and are very knowledgeable, esp in the fragrance department.Although fairly large in regards to size, each level is slightly overcrowded and makes passage sometimes difficult when they are busy
Boscovs in Binghamton is one of the last great department stores. It takes me 10 minutes to scan through Target, but Boscovs is a 3 hour experience. The building is old an in dire need of a paint job, the elevators make noise, but the merchandise is classic and beautiful. Aisle after aisle, row after row of great stuff packed in, as if online shopping didnt exist. They offer everything. Boscovs is a pleasure!
I was at the shoe deptartment yesterday (5/22/2021) from around 1-2 pm. Im leaving a good review specifically because the guy working behind the shoe counter was extremely professional and cool under pressure. It was clear that they were short staffed (I believe there were only 2 employees in the shoe dept.) and while I was there a line of customers, all needing shoes from the back, formed behind me. When it was my turn I wasnt pressured to hurry and make a decision and experienced nothing but great customer service. All while there was little to no AC on a 80+ degree day. Seriously, someone give this man a raise.
I dont know why Binghamton keeps bailing this company out. Highway robbery! I went there for a shirt, tie and sox for my son and myself for a funeral, and a pair of pants for him. Long story short, Boscovs: cheapest shirt $40+ each, tie $25+ each, pants $75+each-LOWEST PRICES!. Socks were the only sale so thats all we got. Their loss for dishonesty. Went to Walmart-2 shirts $13 each, pants $25, no ties. Found two at home.
Sales are great in this store and everything is decently priced. However their customer service is rather lacking. I was 3rd in line to be checked out and only had 3 items. The woman at checkout had told me that the register was closing after the second woman in line so I had to go to another register to checkout which the nearest one had 5 people in line. It is unfortunate that the cashier was so lazy to not cash me out because they decided to clock out.
I waited for 15 minutes at the clinque counter. I ended up asking someone in jewelry to help me, she said she would send someone over. Soon after as she was heading toward me a man was walking through. She ended up immediately helping him instead of asking who was first. I left! I will be making my purchase and all others future purchases online. From macys! It wont take long for bad customer service to close this store!
Number one you have four floors active can only one bathroom which is in the extreme hardest Park to get to I dont know what thats all about but that is ridiculous especially with the amount of older people that go there every time Im there and the other thing is its cold in the winter and hot in the summer just the reverse of what its supposed to be and I have noticed that a good example is like mens summer shorts theyre on sale but the pockets are so small you cant get your finger in there another words that throwbacks you asked me I told you have a nice day
Good location. Parking garage free for one hour. Be sure to get your parking voucher stamped by a sales associate inside. Don’t let them forget because they will. Sales associates range from average to below average helpfulness. Boscov’s does price matching per the website and per their management. Used to be a great place. Has sadly fallen from glory in recent years.
If you shop here, you are supporting a business that fired 75% of their employees at the very last minute when they could’ve spent the last 2 months looking for a new place to work. no point in shopping here anyways, all products fall apart in the washer after one or two times anyways.
This is the best department store in America! Ill fight ya. Seriously has everything. If you cant find what your looking for, you didnt need it...just like your Ex.Otherwise, everything there is reasonably priced. Wide selection of goods, brands, departments.Staff is great.I love escalators.Their ceiling has MIRRORS!Where else has a mirrored ceiling that you can brag about having been too? Not your moms house, Ill tell you that....
This place saved my day. I needed a new pair of jeans, since the pair I packed shrunk or I got too fat for them. I found the perfect replacement pair at a reasonable cost and wore them to the register after trying them on. The cashier was totally accomdating and helped me with several other purchases. Great store, great selections, great staff and location.
A great store with amazing deals for almost whatever youre looking for. I shop here for my clothing and random things for the home whenever Im in the area. Remember to bring in your parking garage ticket for it to be validated. I left mine in the car when shopping. The attendant let me leave without paying after showing him my receipt.
A truly horrid, disgusting store. The parking ramp is your only option to park and it’s sketchy, crowded and dirty with signs saying to wash your car after using the ramp due to limestone deposits. The store itself is full of low quality everything, from small and large appliances that don’t work to clothes that will rip in an instant, this location is ran on the principle of nepotism where all of the management and employees are led and employed by the same family, those who are not particularly privileged are treated horribly and eventually laid off as they just did to a majority of their workers where they kept the family and close friends of the store manager Betsy.
Boscovs is a favorite store. Great bargains and never a problem returning merchandise. Great selections on everything except they no longer have electronics. Now, maybe I will get my mattress problem resolved as Ive just had my 3rd inspection. Dont buy one sided mattresses. The industry has fooled us.
The big, stand alone, department stores of years gone by are far and few between yet Boscovs survived the changing times. I do a significant amount of on-line shopping these days but shopping here feels very nostalgic and I always find good sales. Never been a fan of the parking ramp but its free when you get it stamped while shopping.
Moved to the area and needed a bed frame. Ran in 3 minutes before they closed because I had struck out with 2 Walmarts and a target. Before I could explain to the cashier lady on the first floor she interrupted me to say they probably have one on the third floor but that they close in a few minutes so they cant help me. She didnt even bother checking the stock on her computer. It wasnt closed yet and I only needed one thing?? Some customer service...
So happy to have such a large department store in Binghamton. I grew up with Fowler’s where we could buy everything from records, shoes, bedding, eat at their diner and had just about everything else you could need. It was a one stop shop and BOSCOV’s was a wonderful replacement. The prices are fair and they carry quality brands.
I love Boscovs. Their prices are really reasonable on many things. Of course they have higher priced items from high class manufacturers as well. If you want to find something that fits your budget you can find it there. There are a great range of prices and a great range of variety.
Place has a huge selection across multiple floors. It is old, but that is expected in downtown Binghamton. Need to park in the garage attached to it. Parking will be validated for Boscovs shoppers, even if you didnt buy anything. We stopped by to check out make-up selection and the lady was very nice and gave my wife a free sample to try before buying.
Every time we come to Binghamton {comma} we always make sure to stop and spend quite some time at boscovs.Unlike some of the other boscovs, this is the old fashioned kind so its a real treat to just walk around. They have four floors, and pretty decent prices especially when theyre on clearance.
For those who enjoy shopping at the old style department stores then Boscovs is a great for you. Walking around the store you can get feeling of what it was like when departments ruled instead of the stripmalls. They do tend to have some great sales, items off sale do cost a little more an the big box stores. Most of the employees are polite and friendly, it seems that this store has some long time employees. Always check out Boscovs sales papers. Theres always a good buy that you cant pass by.
What a great store for literally everything from couches to jewelry. It is the essential store for Christmas shopping in Binghamton and I believe they wrap gifts for free. Gives off a Christmas vibe with enormous windows on the main floor. Definitely a must for Binghamton residents and out of towners alike!!
Not worth risking your life visiting. It seems every turn you take, every step you take may be your last. ie youre likely to fall through the floor. The walls and ceilings appear rotten and after taking the elevator upstairs I decided it was unsafe as well. Do not use the elevator- it is not compliant/ up to date with any safety codes. Beware the basement- I think the great flood created some black mold.If youre willing to risk youre life entering this building, you will find 10+ year-old mens and womens fashion. Seriously, theyre selling like Roca Wear & Timberland clothing from the early 2000s. Not sure who their target client is but as a 30yr old male, not me; horrendous. As far as furniture goes there is a pretty good selection but I was accosted by an employee whom seemed to be living on the streets; he hadnt showered in a very long time and was very disheveled. His pants were about 5 sized too large and were hanging precariously low with a belt.Fragrances selection is great but who purchases cologne/perfume in department stores anymore? Online costs are 70% less.Im not sure what to compare this peculiar store to; perhaps an antique store. I see Binghamton revamping everywhere. Time for a remodel of both infrastructure and merchandise.
I always find things I like at reasonable sale prices. I had ordered online and because I ordered multiple sizes, I knew I would have to return some things. We went to the Binghamton, NY store, did my returns and found more items to purchase! Employees were friendly and helpful. There is a parking garage that is pretty treacherous with narrow rows and narrow ramps with sharp turns. It took a while to find a spot but we found one for which we could walk right into the store from the garage. This is a pretty old downtown store so its not as nice as some of the other Boscovs.
I have only been to Boscovs twice since Ive recently moved to Binghamton. I love this store, has great variety the sales staff is always going to help find something or help you with something if you cant find it in a certain Department. Stores clean and well-maintained and they dont have it at Boscovs, Im sure they could get it for you. I arrived just after the first week of January, and The Bargain Basement prices were fabulous and all the sales on winter apparel absolutely incredible. I came in for one thing and ended up leaving with bags and carts full LOL. Last but not least, the bathrooms were clean an easy to get to. I love shopping and supporting downtown Binghamton. After a day shopping at Boscovs, they are conveniently located to many restaurants and pubs close by which we ended up grabbing lunch after shopping. If you never been downtown shopping you should really give it a try. Parking in the garage on Sundays is free.
Very very rundown and it doesnt have a lot of merchandise and there workers on the upper floors are creepy. The bathrooms are like an underground ally and it had absolutely no electronics section. The elevators are also very old and it feels like they are going to get stuck before they reach the next floor! I wish they would fix the place up because just a few years ago it was a very nice place to shop.
Boscovs downtown has changed a lot over the years, although their department variety isnt as large as it used to be their selection per department is pretty broad, they have clearance sales fairly regularly and the discounted items are always really good quality for being on sale.
Worst store and company in all of existence. The entire store is falling apart, dangerous, disgusting, disorganized, and management thinks the world of themselves because they have a position of authority. They recently let a majority of their workers go without any sort of warning or communication after they reopened from the COVID19 shutdown- if you have compassion and wish to stop corrupt businesses this place needs to be boycotted until things are made right.
I found this old fashioned department store delightful but was initially hesitant because the outside of the building looked old and rundown. There are four floors available by elevator, escalators or stairs. Each floor contains a division of home or personal accessories such as living and dining furniture, appliances, kitchenware, bathroom accessories, holiday items, clothes, personal accessories and they have a special discount area. I loved the womens clothing selections! I found the clothes to be on the order of Macys or Lord and Taylors for half the price. For that, I dont care what the place looks like.
Boscovs has great products for reasonable prices but if you have good credit dont apply for their credit card. When you pay your balance off every month they dont make any money on your account, therefore they refuse your application without a valid reason.....thats quite frustrating for someone with an excellent 800+ rating.
Binghamton residents all speak highly of Boscovs!! ♡ Great quality, nice brands, super selection of shoes with smaller heals. Super looking sneakers and sandals! Gorgeous expensive jewelry and fashion too! Great accessory selection of hats. scarves, and socks! Friendly employees too!Everyone ♡s Boscovs!
This place is falling apart. The parking ramp is a danger zone. They do have great sales and a nice selection, but that building. The floors are buckling, I wouldnt take the elevator if ya paid me. Took a still in the parking ramp on ice and split my elbow open. When I got inside and asked for a bandaid the lady at the bra counter wanted me to wait for security. But while I was waiting would I like to fill out for a Boscovs card. Are you kidding? This place is a joke I dont know why the city keeps giving money to keep it open. Someone needs is going to get hurt and its a law suit waiting to happen.
Boscov’s is a unique department store with great buys. I have never been one to things boscov’s for anything but after my family member recommended that i try them for dress pants im impressed. They have a great selection of sizing and prices depending on what you want. Typical stores $60 dress pants not a boscov’s starts at $20 on sale. Would you like a polo starts at $10. Off brand jeans $20.The cookware that they sell is really good also j got some off brand that the nice lady recommended for cheap and wow they have held up better then anything else i have ever owned. They have alot to choose from regardless of what you are looking for. Just dont exspect anything terribly trendy.Their are downsides to them also like the parking garage which is a little sketchy and dark could use some lighting inside especially around the womens department entrance. The elevators are questionable making weird sounds. The furniture is a good price but quality is ehh not exspected to last long.Personally i think the positives out weigh the negatives.
Unprofessional employees and disgusting store. The woman in the mens department was very dismissive and rude, and had her cell phone out and was eating a handful of chips while I was checking out and got grease all over the hanger. The whole first floor smells like cat pee and the ceiling is falling down all around. The signs in the lingerie department were incorrect and the manager only argued with me and did not honor the sign. Could not even go to the third and fourth floor because it was so hot. Parked in the ramp that said it’s free for 3 hours with “validation” and I still had to pay $3 to get out. Sad that this is one of the only department stores left in the area.
Bought so much they offered to carry it to the side door pick up area. I just pulled up and went in and someone brought my bags down and helped load it into my car. Free garage parking, just remember to have your parking stub stamped at any register. I miss stores like this, Ames, K-Mart. Hope it sticks around.
The parking garage is always a bit shady feeling, but dont let that deter you. This downtown icon has something for everyone. From designer purses to bargain basement auditorium deals; take the time to explore. Also, if you need a nice dress, it is still one of the stores in the area with the most selection.
I had a very Shocking/Frightening experience here at Boscovs. I took a boxed item off of the shelf and while turning the box around in my hands, noticed this spider crawling towards my left hand. When It was brought to an Employees attention, she freaked out and started cursing, before regaining her composure to call her supervisior. All of the Managers, and Supervisors were little to no help at all. The supervisor actually asked me to take the spider outside and kill it since he believed I had Placed the thing there to make a distraction while other people stole from the store. I was appalled by this wild accusation and asked to speak to someone higher up than he was. At first I was told there was no-one available higher than he was, until I asked for the corporate office phone number to file a complaint about this. Then I was told there was no need to go that far because nothing would be done on my behalf. I was highly disappointed by the service, and the treatment I received. I will NEVER come here again, nor will I ever recommend anyone to shop here.
My name is Marcia Collier. I went on a open interview for the Binghamton boscovs store. I had gotten the job for seasonal. I worked for a month when I was not given a date when my last day was until the day I looked on schedule and saw I had no hours. I went to the manager of the store asked about that and was told by her that they were going to keep. Then the scheduling manager told me basically they were finished using me up. I went to work on time every day. Only called out one day because I had a seizure. Im disappointed with that store in a whole because I have been a shopper of there for 15 and now I refused to never spend another penny at boscovs department store in Binghamton NY period.
Fantastic place to find hidden gems while shopping...nice to place to go if u dont want to go the the local mall or parkway to do your shopping ....lots of floors with each floor catering to different themes such as furniture one floor and clothes and perfumes another...the 1 downfall in my opinion is the building appears to be starting to show its age and could use some tender loving care
The parking garage is free for 3 hours with a store stamp and free on the most weekends. Its also the only old garage still standing after the one on State / Hawley was torn down after the one in JC colapts. I feel like this one has its days numbered and it worries me every time I park there that I might not ever see my car again. The store itself is a holdover from yesteryear. A place your grandmother can find a nice blouse and slacks.
I love Boscovs whether shopping in store or online. I take my 82 year old mom shopping with me & she loves it also. Most of her clothes & shoes come from Boscovs as with curtains, & many many baby clothes for my great niece Elle. They have the best assortment of childrens clothes for every age!! With so many department stores closing Boscovs needs to look into expanding their baby & children shoes & accessories. It could use some restructuring to accommodate the larger needs of the downtown Binghamton shoppers. A big improvement needs to be done with the air conditioning also. But I love Boscovs!
I had to take time to post about my experience at boscovs and how there are many branches that makes a company successful. 1 day or 2 ago I was having a normal day shopping for Christmas gifts as I do most every year At boscovs. I happened to overhear what I assume was the manager asking someone where they were suppose to be, her tone was extremely nasty and more accusing than questioning accompanied by a look of disgust, so much so that I got offended for who at this point I’m sure was an employee. The worker said politely u asked me to be here. Not only was the manager or supervisor wrong they were rude to the employee and with multiple customers around which made me decide to put everything back and leave although I won’t be missed with all the business there. I felt horrible. My point is you can have the best business one can have but if it isn’t run stern yet professionally and respectfully it will never last.
Went to boscovs this morning & bought a real nice Bluetooth speaker. I look all over for something like this. Online 49.99 sounds better than anything i looked under 200$ a friend told me about that speaker Sunday. We looked at it. Had to have it. I was in & out in no time. Run to the crib to see how it performed. Way better than i expected
Everyone is friendly and my experience is that I truly love the department store feel and experiences Ive had at Bocoves...Now days everyone has so many obligations and it seems difficult to drop everything and go to a store to shop for things and with the convenience of online shopping seems almost nessecer and department stores are obsolete...I on the contrary love the one on one personal shopping experience you can only get from these endangered department stores and pray that everyone could feel the same way...🤔🤗😎
Made an online order products didnt arrive. Customer service said oh it could be with a neighbor. Smh. The box is missing items go could it be with my neighbor, closed in gate, delivery guys no us they only leave under our surveillance camera for safety. Either way had to find new gifts for my mom birthday. Smh. Wasnt even costly units, send me socks for babies 1-3 when order said 8.5. Really need to get structure will not recommend boscov anymore. Keep my money, lesson learned. Not gonna argue on the phone with rep for items worth less than 10.00 dont wanna ship em, keep em, never again.BEWARE online. ONLY GO INTO THE STORE

2022-06-27I always wanted to visit Boscovs after seeing it ads and website. But this store was a disappointment. Very overcrowded with items not enough space to maneuver around. Things were very unorganized. Clothes sizes were all mixed. The build needs to fix its a/c system it was stuffy and hot on the second floor. I didnt even bother trying to find something I could like. Didnt know where to start.

2022-06-22I love Boscovs. Its a huge old fashioned department store and I love that its downtown and just minutes from my house. I go there for shoes and boots, casual and work clothes, jewelry, outerwear, socks and undies. I bought my Christmas tree there and some summer lawn furniture. A living room chair. Purses. Mattress pads. KitchenAid mixer. Pots and pans. Everything! My only complaint: it is always too hot.

2022-07-03Although I can still remember when it first opened in the early 1980s, it is one of the very few remaining major department stores in an urban core. The prices, selection and service are still decent, but times have seemed to pass it by.

2022-06-09Boscovs must be kept alive under historic preservation. Its a downtown department store, a rare historic monument of commerce. The malls, which destroyed downtown urban life, are closing because of online retailers. So maybe its time.

2021-12-26Such a wonderful experience shopping all 5 floors of Boscovs department store. You can find everything you need in a friendly, clean atmosphere. Dedicated salesperson will offer you assistance with shopping, getting your purchases to your car and placing orders on hard to find items. The Downtown location offers shopping carts for your convenience.
