A very beautiful tiny historic park to relax during the spring, summer and fall. The spring flowers are beautiful. Just south of the charging bull.

The fountain is drained during the winter months and the fountain becomes home to a large Christmas tree. Bowling Green got its name because the park was once used as a bowling alley when bowling was played on the grass. This small park is located, a couple blocks off the Hudson River and is surrounded by many other attractions.
It cracks me up to read reviews of the oldest sites in New York City written by tourists. Those for Bowling Green are great examples. It is not just a park folks (and not just the waiting area for those taking pictures of The Wall Street Bull ). No, it is the oldest public park in all of New York City! It became a park in 1733. Not only that---the wrought iron fence surrounding it is probably the oldest remaining wrought iron fence in the city too, dating to 1771! Sure, none of this is old by Chinese, European or Middle Eastern standards but that still makes it one of the oldest public spaces in the US built by Anglo/Dutch/European immigrants. People are also generally unaware that this is where a statue of George the III stood prior to the start of the Revolutionary War (the war that earned the US its independence from Great Britain for non-US readers). It was a lead statue and was torn down and then melted and at least part of that lead used for musket balls during the American Revolution.

Beautiful park. It’s a gorgeous oasis in the middle of downtown Manhattan. The landscaping is incredible. I’d recommend for a lunch break or a date. Great spot!

I didnt see any bowling but there was some greenery. Nice pleasant Park 🏞️ to take a stroll on your way to Staten Island.
I love the fact that they redo the flowers every year and they look lovely but turn the damn fountain back on for the taxes that we pay in New York City its the least that they could do
THIS IS NOT THE ONE YOU CAN SEE THE LIBERTY STATUE FROM! But very nice, the day was super cold so I couldnt enjoy much but the park was very clean!
First stop in the city on the 5 train bright station lots 2 see outside this stop if you know where to look .but honestly all u have 2 do is exit the station & you will run into plenty 2 c & do well HISTORICALLY speaking atleast you can sure get a eye full outside in the vicinity for sure .

This place always seems crowded but Saturday around midnight wasnt busy. No tourist were there around 7am Sunday.

Bowling green is a small crowded park in the NYC Financial District right next to Charging Bull (and at least for now, Fearless Girl). It is nice and green and a good respite from my 20km walk on the hot day that I visited while walking around the city. The seats were very welcome. Everyone seems to keep to themselves. There are no facilities. #accessible #letsguide

When I was there in late August of 2021 the place was looking worse for wear pretty ratty dirty and frankly not worth the walk involved from the subway station we had taken to get there. The famous Wall Street bull is nearby and that was surrounded by slatted metal barriers and there was a lot of construction going on on when the adjacent streets as well so all in all just to complete bust as far as Im concerned, but maybe in the spring when the construction is over and if somebody cleans it up a little bit it might be worth a visit....
There were very few people when I visited. So it was very nice and peaceful.
I would take my lunch breaks inside the park sometimes. The fountain is nice and peaceful when its running in the summer. A nice little park with some greenery. A break from the bustling concrete corporate grind. My only complaint is that sometimes the park is locked and closes early.

A really nice and and relaxing park! When you go in the summer it is pretty full. But in the winter it’s cold so there aren’t to many people there. There is a fountain. They have greenery around the benches. There also is interesting statues to check out! This is a nice place to go and relax in the summer!!
Its nice historical park which can tell us the story of Manhattan under Dutch territory
The history in this place is beyond my ability, but Ill give it a try, this place would once be a place where a statue of king george III would lay, the statue would be broken down and melted into 30,000 bullets in the revolutionary war and with that the fences that you see there are the ones from that time, some of the big pillars of the fence had heads or crowns of British monarchs which the soon to be Americans would chop down and if you slide your finger on top of the big pillar fences you would feel the cut marks. Besides that this place is amazing to visit for its historical point and a calm relaxing day would be nice here too.
Charging Bull great place to be very much accessible from Subway and battery park
I actually used to work in the area so I am aware of the quaint places. The South Street Seaport, Staten Island Ferry, connection to Governors Island, the Marina all within walking distance the downtown area.

This is the oldest public park in NYC, and while you cant spend much time here, its a good place to walk through. I especially love spring time when the tulips are blooming.

This is a great place to sit on a beautiful summers day and watch all of the wonderful people that are brought to this amazing city.There are plenty of benches to sit and rest after walking around the area all day. People often grab a bite to eat from one of the nearby restaurants and sit here to eat it. The NYC Pigeons are always opportunists, they will hang around you until you throw them some crumbs or they will clean up after you leave.Enjoy this park, its very small but in a great location.

The Bowling Green area is Beautiful! You can see Lady Liberty if you walk to the water on Battery Park. Its a place you can take the whole family. Or just go walking on a romantic date. In the winter its pretty cold over on that side of town so make sure everyone is dress warm. But go out and enjoy the city its free.

We visited here after reading some in-depth stories about the making of Hamilton and the time of the revolution in New York. Bowling Green had a park with a metal fence around it that had a statue of the king riding a horse. The fence is still there, but the statue was taken down to make ammunition for the colonials. History right in front of you. You can almost imagine the sons of Liberty and Hercules Mulligan jumping the fence and taking down the statue back in 1776.
Its a nice park to sit and enjoy NYC, and is near to ox statue.
Nice area to walk around. There is a Carvel (unfortunately express) over on John St. If youve never had Carvel soft serve ice cream, its 95% better than any of the soft serves youll find in a mall.

Hot summer day, best breeze passes here. So I would say is a great place to sit down and cool if and see the busy city move. Also for some reason there is always seats available, as if people dont know you can take a seat inside the park. Also its nice to see the crowds from far near the bull statute. A nice seat surrounded by buildings.

Bowling Green park is frequented by people that work in area and visitors that are waiting to take pictures with the famous bull sculpture. It is clean and has a lot seating but is full during the lunch crush. Its a great place to have a quick lunch.
Great place to visit! Many historical sites in the park and vicinity. Family friendly moderate to heavy crowds depending upon day and time. Just try not to be annoyed by artists attempting to get you in their chairs for a sketch.
Pretty nice area everythings fast pace around there and shout out to the cities cleaning department, theyre doing good trying to keep up on cleaning up the litter.

I work a couple of blocks away! There’s always people around and the busyness I’d the #4 train makes it even better! Great place to guests from overseas since right there you have the Fighting Bull and close to historic landmarks and the Battery Park!

Great place near wall street. During our visit we got to see the bull unfortunately the girl had already been moved. The park is spacious and right near the water. Relaxing place to have lunch with good cart options.
Its a beautiful & busy place...theres even a restaurant on the grounds towards the end of the park going into the direction of the Staten island ferry...I never knew of it until yesterday what the building was. Theres also a old time Pirates vessel tied down on the docks of the edge of the park facing the port toward facing outwards in the direction of The Statue of liberty.

Theres so many dights to see. The Bull, The American Indian Museum, The Ferry, Circle Line to see Statue of Liberty. Theres a French Christmas Market going on right now from 12/6 till 12/22. Most of all I love Battery Park. Its a beautiful and quiet place to enjoy.

Love this park it reminds me of an old time movie from the 1700s. The park lambs, benches, gates, atmosphere is so historic. Seems like im back in time in New York City love it!
I hadnt been to this part of New York in years but I forgot how beautiful many of the parks are especially this one particularly during the height of fall. This is a nice green oasis in the middle of New Yorks Financial district and better known for its proximity to Wall Streets Charging Bull and the Staten Island Ferry. Great area to walk around and get lost for awhile.
Small park which is right in front of One Bowling Green. Theres a fountain in the middle of it. Frankly, there are a lot of homeless folks all over the benches. Its also very noisy due to tourists and traffic on both sides of the park and the 4&5 trains running underneath. Youd be better off crossing the street and going to Battery Park.
Nearly empty on an early Spring Day when we visited. This is a delightful park and is perhaps overlooked by tourists who are too focused on seeing the nearby charging bull statue. Lots of history all within 100 feet.

I found this place fascinating. All the people traffic, the history involved etc. Although I grew up in N. Y., I never had a chance to get to know it. As a tourist, I really loved. Transportation, restaurants etc;all close by. I would recommend this to everybody. Go for a walk and enjoy.

I find it better to visit this area in the late evening. This is an extremely busy area during the work week. This area is a must for all tourist. Take the Staten Island ferry to Staten island and back to NYC for free. You get to see the city views and pass the Statue of Liberty. Battery Park offers great views too
Too crowded. If you dont want to make a queue to take a picture with the bull, you have to go very early in the morning.
Pretty and good place to visit or stop and relax while youre walking around the city. Lots of people but not overly packed. Enough room to move around and let kids burn out some energy and take a break if needed.

This is one of the nicest busiest park in the city as well known as it is Ive never really stayed in the park I usually pass by the park or cut through the park they have public bathrooms here clean & well kept by the staff its loaded with vendors selling all kinds of things food included soda water hot dogs etc its usually crowded with people especially the tour buses that leave here loaded with people so theres a lot happening and theres always police around making sure everything is ok so its a safe place to come too
A classic New York small park. Always wish it didnt close so early (right at dusk) as it means you cant sit and eat in the park. A hour more time or even 30min would help a lot (though I am sure crime is a factor is closing time).Our last visit, the park did seem like it could use a little more attention on maintaining it.

We were there in June and after visiting the Statue of Liberty, in the heat, Bowling Green is a nice little park with bench to sit and relax, and big trees to provide shade. It is right behind the bull in the financial district.
Great little spot to enjoy the sunshine and people watching. Kudos to NYC for planting and maintaining amazing flowers around the fountain in the middle. The Charging Bull is right next to the circle, which is of course a must see for any tourist or New Yorker. Interestingly, the fence surrounding the park is some of the oldest remains of NYC, being around since the early Dutch forts. Sit down on a bench and enjoy the oldest park in NYC and the heart of tourist central.

Nice small park in Fidi, but recommended going one block to the Battery.
I used to love this park, as I was always in the area. Red tulips would be planted, sprout, and grow every Spring. The fountain in the middle was lovely. The view of the museum right in front of the building, lined with the trees from the park, was stunning.The only downsides are how loud it is (the park is lined along Broadway to one side), and the walkway round-about the park and fountain was uneven, leaving one stepping in puddles after a rainy day, or even possibly close to hurting onself stepping in these large holes. Another bad thing are rodents Ive seen in there.Despite these things, I still give it 5 stars because it is a nice respite from walking around, its picturesque, its centrally located, and close to the train station for those who dont want to walk all the way to Battery Park for a seat and some greenery.

Not a good time to visit in the winter time. A bit too cold. This is New Yorks first park. Not central Park. Central Park is man made. A few steps from here you have various Museums and touristy places.As always ENJOY NEW YORK!
A great park to rest for a while and watch the world go by. So close to the Charging Bull, Staten Island Ferry and Wall Street. I choose it as a lunchtine stop so that i could enjoy the area and atmosphere rather than sitting inside a restaurant. Plenty of benches in the sun or the shade and very well tended landscapes
This is a highly energetic place. It is the oldest public park in NYC and is really a nice oasis. The 300 year old iron fence was erected to protect a statue of George III which was subsequently torn down. A lovely place to visit. Plus theres the bull.
Access too many options too get throughout the city, this place is also equipped beautiful views as well. Its not a focal point of NYC destinations but it will bring you close to many that are. Such as financial district, NYSE, the bull, Ferry to Staten island, Governors island, Ellis island and the Statue of Liberty. The list is endless.
I work in NYC so it is nothing special to me. Regardless, it is a beautiful location. The Custom House is a wonderful location. The statues of Asia, The Americas, Europe and Africa are beautiful depictions of the attitudes and morays of the times. Inside is an extraordinary American Indian museum.
Trash bins were overflowing and all over the ground around them. Otherwise a clean, quiet park.

Beautiful location. Lots of historical places to visit such as Battery Park, American Indian Museum, the Bull by Bowling Green and Broadway. Take ferry from this location to see Lady Liberty. Also, you can walk down Broadway to see the Freedom Towers and the 911 Memorial.

First Public Park in New York City.
It gets very crowded in financial district because a) a lot of people work here b) tourists stopping along their way to get pics of NYSE, the bull, etc. But I love it down there!

Battery park, Staten Island ferry and Statue of Liberty boat all right there... No parking but alot of spots to eat and view the water. The 4or 5 lets you off right there...Station is wheelchair accessible.

Best place to transfer to get around NYC
The park is small and unremarkable at first glance and unsuspecting visitors may not be aware of its historic significance until they read about it, particularly its designation as the oldest park in the city and how it became a symbol of US independence from Britain after the existing statue of the British monarch was toppled. Hard to believe, too, that this was once the tip of Manhattan before the area was expanded through landfilling. It is worth a visit if only for these remarkable facts.

Beautiful park with ample seating areas in a busy part of the financial district by the bull off Broadway.Interesting to know that this is the oldest park in NY. It was used by native Americans to gather for council meetings. The Native American museum is right in front of the park.

Beautiful walking grounds and depending on the season, the more there is to see the flowers are in bloom and the leaves grow back on the trees. Lots to explore and see at the southern tip of Manhattan. Lots of history with Wall Street, Stock Exchange, the first fine dining restaurant (Delmonicos) in the country and who also are the original creators of the Baked Alaska. Must take a photo of the bull which is usually crowded with other tourists.
It is wise to say / of course, this is a tourist attraction, visitors also bring atmosphere, joy, do not just look at a photo, to confirm the United States prosperity, the cornerstone, steady as the mountain, leading the world, to a new era. We must support faith, support the United States, and spirituality.

A serene park located in the middle of financial district overlooking several skyscrapers. They have several benches for big enough seating capacity in a roundtable fashion. Every Friday they have an open market over here.

Downtown Manhattan by Wall Street. Close to Staten Island Ferry. The first Church and Court House in Manhatten are around the corner on Water St. Close to 9/11 Memorial, Jewish Heritage Museum . The oldest Park in New York City. Yes the Dutch used to Bowl here. It was also pastureland. The fence in the park dates back to revolutionary days. When there was a statue of King George in it. When the Declaration of Independence was announced, Patriots in the city tore down the statue and since it was made of lead it was melted down into musket balls. The fence had crowns on the tops of the gate posts. Patriots cut them off. CHECK THIS PARK OUT IN EARLY SPRING WHEN THE FLOWER BEDS AROUND THE FOUNTAIN ARE FILLED WITH RED TULIPS. BEAUTIFUL!!
Quaint and only a few steps away from Wall Streets famous charging bull, this little teardrop shaped park offers quiet refuge from the tourist trap that ensnares dozens at any given moment. The real centerpiece of the Bowling Green is a lovely fountain. This is a highly energetic place. It is the oldest public park in NYC and is really a nice oasis. Plus theres the bull.

Took a College Financial tour with my daughter.Enjoyed learning so much on a Spiritual level. Would really like to come back and visit The National Museum of the American Indian–New York, is located on the south side of Bowling Green, in lower Manhattan.

Pretty nice place to go to, there is still a lot of noise of cars and stuff but I think it’s almost impossible to get away from that, the fountain is also nice and there are trash cans, lol

A small but great park in lower manhattan. Valuable for its history. First public park in New York City. You will also find in Bowling Green the charging bull and the Museum of the American Indian. Free admission!The statue of The fearless girl as also at Bowling Green, but had been relocated to Wal street in front of the New York Stock exchange. The 4, 5 and 6 train lines (green line) all stop at the Bowling Green train station. Dont forget to look up its history which says back to 1733 and is still surrounded by its original fence.
Nice little park very close to the charging bull and battery park. Good place to sit down and have a snack. I love the small garden in the middle of the park.

2022-01-03The oldest public park in New York Located in the heart of New Yorks financial district, south of Manhattan, the Bowling Green is considered the oldest public park in the city. Previously, here were the councils of the Native American tribes that inhabited the area, and it was precisely on this site that the Sale of Manhattan to Peter Minuit took place in 1626. The park has been used to celebrate events, and even as a cattle market after the arrival of the Dutch in the area. Currently, the park is a pleasant outdoor space where you can rest after a walk in the area. Like all public parks in New York City, the site offers free Wi - Fi. Very close to the eastern entrance is the famous Bull of Wall Street, placed in 1989 and designed by the sculptor Arturo DiModica.

2021-11-07Visited the statue of liberty and upon arrival back to Battery Park, found out there was a lock on my card from distanced travel and its was a friday night. Walked around and saw some sights in wall street, then made my way back to figure out the subway and bus routes. Made it back to Queens and the Marriott easily. Great time!

2020-09-30Its impossible i missed this gem living here for 5 years! This small park is amazing. Amazing with the atmosphere. Its like a time capsule-as soon as you get there the noises of the busy streets around dim & all you want is sit there, watchwater in the fountain & listen to the birds singing. Id recommend to set the alarm to wake up :)
