The best happy hour in the area with 2-4-1 drinks until 9 on the weekdays. They also have pretty fun events during the week like Trivia on Tuesdays on top of watching all the major games. Pool tables are a fun extra too. The bar staff is friendly, speedy, and easy on the eyes. Love this bar.
This bar was absolutely packed on a cold Thursday night, but what was great is no one was jostling for position or making it feel cramped. Everyone was happy just to be hanging out and meeting new people and the bartenders were quick to come over and grab drink orders. I dont know about their mixed drinks but they poured a solid beer, not too foamy. The other patrons were also friendly and instantly struck conversation with my friends. I was also surprised that they had a large selection of wine.
2 for 1 happy hour is a great deal during games. Multiple big screens, back yard & pool table make this a great spot for sporty gay outings. Staff is friendly & theres usually 1 craft beer on tap next to the standard cheap favorites. Food is inedible, better to fill up on beer & eye candy.
I think this is my favorite gay bar in the city. Always a good attitude in this place. No dancing really occurs, but people still get drunk and have fun. Pool tables every day. Beer pong and Flip cup on the weekend. $20 for 3 pitchers of beer on Saturday afternoons and buy one get one free happy hour 4-9 M-F.
I have been here many times with my brother. Its always a fun atmosphere. My brother loves this place so I decided to host his birthday here. Lee and Steve were great with accommodating us. We were able to surprise him and he says it was one of his best birthdays ever. I highly recommend asking for Lee and Steve if you want to host an event. They were wonderful.
The worst experience ever. While we were waiting at the entrance, one of the staff people was trying to clean the garbage and was so pissed off that he started to pop the balloons near it, throwing trash from one bag to another and acting kinda crazy and really angry. Ok, he didnt do anything to us so we were fine. We came right after pride, and needed to put our signs somewhere. When we tried to do it near the door, the hostess at the door started THROWING them away, yelling at us and pushing my girlfriend with her drink. I couldnt believe how aggressive it was. Before that I tried to get a non-alcoholic drink at the cocktail station, after 10 min line they refused to serve it and sent me to the bar even though they had all the non-alcoholic drinks at the cocktail station as well. The bar was crazy hot and crowded. They just kept letting people in even though the place couldnt fit any more. If you guys cannot accommodate so many people, and that makes you violent and aggressive, dont let all of them in! Didnt think that a gay place especially during pride could ruin my mood like that.
This place sooo funnn , I love the karaoke Mondays , The drinks arent watered down. The food is bar food nonetheless but its Good bar food. The bar tenders all have super dope personalities and the bald security gaurd withh the beard and glasses is soooo niceee. N kinda cute 🙈 definitely will be returning ALOT.
We have been several time in this bar with friends for happy hour since it is close to our homes. The music is ALWAYS THE SAME AND HORRIBLE!!! ALWAYS THE SAME SONGS IN THE SAME SEQUENCE, unless you are a Hip Hop lover IT WILL BE A TORMENTING EXPERIENCE.Music is a very important part of the experience in a bar.You can see the manager standing inside the bar like a police man instead of making sure the customers are having the best time possible. To the management: NO EVERYTHING IS MONEY!!!!!!
This has got to be one of the friendliest bars in the city! Within four minutes of walking in, some folks immediately pulled my friends and I into a conversation, clearing space for us at the bar to order drinks. My cocktail was huge and strong. Scratch that, too strong. This gay-friendly sports bar still reminds me of when it was Porkys with the sporty posters and packed yet sweaty crowd, but about 100x friendlier and cleaner!
Im not sure what happened to this place. I was just there a month ago and it was great, last night not so good. Was it because it was Sunday night and not Friday night? The place is cool and big, many many screens which make it great to watch the games. I was just not impressed with the overall ambiance, felt dated and a little tired. Beer was good, food was ok and I may go back to watch a game again but not super excited about it... Time to do a renovation?
The exterior of this bar is pretty non-descriptive blending into the street frontage. You might miss it completely if you didnt notice walking by. Once inside is a whole new world transported into vast interior space of sports bar gay land. The lengthy bar with bartenders in guess what boxers of course. The whole space is surrounded by large TV for all your sport needs. The back has the pizza ordering and then you have the pool table and what sports bar doesnt have the frat bro pong table? They have a good happy hour 2for1 drinks. It is laid back and great for pre-evening drinks but it does get crowed on the typical night outs (Fri/Sat) but any other time is it a nice to grab a drink with friends.
I dont know what is going on here its a drama reviews maybe for free drinks. I visit this place 7 times in different days. It was absolutely not what I think. The best I like in this place. The stuff remove empty glasses quickly. They have outdoor backyard to smoke. The bartenders so sexy. But they are cheeters every time when I order my drinks. Different prices with different bartender. When i said different I mean some times X2 some X3 some X2.5. Some people ask me why I pay too much high tips. no price control here. You should ask how much before you order. Just drink outside and visit here when you are in high mood. Its not 2 floor its just restroom downstairs. Always last thing is most important. so if you dont like someone to cam you in his snapchat or any other social media its not in this place. There Is no cam rights here. Every body going around with snapchat cam. Cover you face and drink quickly. Dont do anything in toilet some people will snap chat you from dawn door or from top door to snapchat you. I just I hope next time the customers will write a real reviews. Not just to make the bartenders happy.
That kind of place that people go just because someone else said it was good. Someone might think it is interesting to have a bar with a sporty approach for gay people, but the truth is that Boxers is not authentic at all. Everything looks fake and made just for people to flirt. Maybe Im being too grumpy, but I dont see a reason to create a gay sport bar when the city has already lots of mixed and more original ones. Who knows... There is always someone willing to pay more for a beer and there will be always a new bar willing to take her money. I wish you luck in your game.
One of the Chelsea bars holding steady despite many others closing doors in recent years. Terrific happy hour thats great during the week, though generally much more crowded with Friday revelers. Its the better of the Boxers experiences of the 3 in NYC, as the sister HK bar is much smaller, although it does boast a seasonal patio thats popular for brunchers and boozers alike.
Terrible “sports” bar. Walked in tonight for Monday Night Football, and only 1 television had the game on, despite the NY Giants playing the Philadelphia Eagles in a crucial game, not to mention it being Eli’s return. There was a drag show going on that seemed to take precedence over all else going on there tonight; which was probably why the bar itself was empty. You cannot be a sports bar, gay or otherwise, and not promote/emphasize sports, especially NYC sports teams. There’s plenty of gay bars, but not a lot of actual gay-sport bars, and Boxers isn’t one either.Bottom Line: Skip it & walk a few blocks to Gym Bar on 8th Ave if you’re trying to catch an actual game.
It is the fifth time I go and the last. I had a terrible experience on Tuesday inNight. My friend had bought some chicken wings and a pizza and we waited for over 30 min. When we asked about the food they only answered that they did not have the receipt, that the order did not exist. The claim was taken in a bad way and, not having a satisfactory answer, we decided to speak with the manager. Everything got worse, he insisted on defending the boys who had not prepared our order and had also blocked our credit card. The manager disgusted by the complaint also asked us to leave the place if we were not satisfied with the service, it was so much disrespect that he took the drink he was taking from meHand and throw it. Drink that I had paid for!It is unfortunate not to want to go back to a place with your friends where we spent good money and where we had never had problems.Disrespect for our community is very unfortunate. The worst experience in this city.

2021-10-14If you like admiring sculptured pecs while you down a few this is a great place. Boxers seems to be short staffed with causes those hard pec feelings to wane quickly. There are some game tables and there is some space to distance which are both a big plus. You will also find screens and I think this is more of a chat than dance atmosphere.

2022-03-30I miss the old days when the service was good and the bartenders were attentive & friendly! Unfortunately, the good ones all left. I was there this past Sunday, my partner and I asked for an apple martini and the bartender simply said “We don’t have!”. I’ve been going to this place and having apple martinis since 2016 so we were kinda shocked the bartender rudely said no. The pizza was good thou…

2022-04-25Great drinks amazing setting for people of all kinds. I’d ask that they get their footing in managing the food and drinks orders to slow down confusion and foot traffic back and forth.

2021-10-24Big loud bar, could do with more soft decor (seat cushions, etc.) to absorb some of the sound. Lots of tv screens to watch sports. They gave a card for a free drink when I ordered mine, which is nice. I hear they do beer pong sometimes but it wasn’t set up at that time. Little outdoor area in back too which looked cute.

2021-10-24The Sunday staff was RUDE and unprofessional. I came in with 2 other people. We scanned the menu that was provide for the bar. I went to order and was completely taken aback because they BARTENDERS dont know whats on the menu. I want 3 specialty drinks and was told they dont make them because whats on the menu they no longer serve. So before I went off on these people we left. The staff was laughing at myself and guest. We will never ever come back to this bar. The only thing we wanted was drinks and some pool time. If thats the kind of standards this place has, I can only imagine how unprofessional the owner is!

2021-06-28Ive been here a couple of times and always had a blast. Ive danced and partied with these men and they were respectful and entertaining. We had a couple of side eyes and that was expected. Bartenders are fine too.
