The BrandyWine Assisted Living Center is a wonderful place. Rona is awesome! I have had a great experience working alongside staff like Rona, providing my hearing care services for the residents. Its been a pleasure providing an extra value add for the residents of BrandyWine. I get a true sense that the staff care about the residents whenever I come to visit. - Dr. Recher
My father was a resident in the Reflections memory care unit at the Brandywine but we moved him to the Bristal. Brandywines unit is small and there isnt even a central gathering place. When the residents are in the locked unit, they just sit lined up in the hall or in the dining room with the TV on. Its depressing Plus, the place smells of urine, making it a miserable place to visit. There are too few workers per resident, and many, although not all, openly wear their frustration on their faces. Meanwhile, the Bristal is beautiful and spacious,, the staff is lovely, the food is good, and the residents are kept busy. They are also free to roam the halls. When I visited the other day, my dad was in the middle of a painting class. We then found a lovely quiet corner to sit in, looking out at some beautiful landscaping. It felt peaceful and pleasant. I feel so much better knowing that my dad will spend his remaining years living in a caring, respectful facility that doesnt strip him of his dignity.
I suppose it could be worse, so well assign 2 stars. Very understaffed. Some staff are nice and helpful and caring, others are useless and clueless. The issue with a place like this is the necessity to rely on the staff and when staff members are unreliable, as was often the case here, it is impossible to feel comfortable with the staff or the environment. I would agree it was probably not the best fit for my mom, it was clear all they wanted was money and all theyre after is money, so they either shouldve never accepted her, or addressed the fact the were unable to properly accommodate her. I highly, highly recommend doing extensive research before entering an elder family member into this type of environment. I suspect a family member it that is fully able to handle themselves and potentially live on their own, but you simply want a senior community for them to live in, this could be a good fit, if you think its worth an ADDITIONAL $3,000+ per month as compared to standard rent if they were living on their own. No one is going to encourage them to do activities and participate in the events, so they will need to be willing to do those things on their own. Otherwise, this place is a Complete waste of time and money if you dont have plenty of expendable income.
My mom lived here for the past 3 years. I cannot emphasize enough the great interaction of the management and staff with both my mom and the rest of the family. Their attentiveness to our needs was amazing. I highly recommend that everyone looking in this area should not hesitate to seek ttheir help
I started working at BrandyWine from December 10 2019 to January 26-2020 I had the worst experience with the wellness. Heavy load of work over 20 sumthing resident on one assignment and you don’t have a voice at all the older employee have more rights and don’t forget the favoritisms they also don’t pay to keep your HHA lic active that’s not a place for me to be. I have choose to quit and of many other reasons I did A lot of snitching, no paper towels to dry your hands after washing residents are calling for care that aren’t on assignment and you are told you have to go, you get 30 mins break they took back from you! As for the Nursing Director Asif for nursing at wellness have no proper management, you ask for time off it’s a NO but some others are given and are also new starters, some of the staff that works there needs the job because of their bills etc and are being slaves and don’t have a choice I won’t even want to give them 1star the place sucks, some care managers are favored by Asif some feels it the hard ways residents room windows have creases cold air enters when it’s raining their room are wet you can fall, the cupboards are broken as for the laundry room the equipment are outdated imagine you doin laundry of two large garbage pale from 11:30 pm washing waiting to put in dryer and not finish until 1:30 am worst place to work @ BrandyWine SavoryThere are reasons why staff leave .. that needs to be fixed !
Worked for a patient at this location staff is not friendly at all big time bosses dont speak or say good morning worst place for anyone to work for most staff members are stuck up dont acknowledge new workers they have a dress code but dont tell you till a few days after you work there with your patient it doesnt hurt to say good morning but the staff doesnt speak I was sitting in there longer a supervisor tells me I cant use my phone i wasnt with my patient or even on the phone I was trying to put a important text but this same woman I seen a few days later talking on her cell phone so if your with your patient from your agency when can you make calls or text because you dont get a break at all i wouldnt recommend anyone to stay at this place or work her they all have attitudes wrist place to be I hated coming here every morning

2022-02-08My mom recently moved from another assisted living facility to The Brandywine at the Savoy, she has thrived in this facility. The friendly atmosphere of the residents and the staff are the reason why. I could not be happier with everyone. Amy worked on getting my mom into her new home and all the logistics that were required , Janet worked with us on the move in date to organize all her furniture and set up the apt. for maximum space and comfort, and Donna who handles all the events, excursions and entertainment there keeps my mom happy. They are miracle workers. My mom went from the other assisted living, to a hospital, rehab , and then Brandywine, she wasnt in good shape either physically, or mentally. All of these staffers are what make this location special. She has come further than I ever expected. I feel so relieved and am not so worried about her anymore, because I feel she has a life again..

2019-11-20Moving my mother, who has Alzheimer’s, from independent to assisted living was not an easy decision, but I knew it was the best decision. I met with Rona Siaca at Brandywine at the Savoy, in Little Neck, Queens, NY. She was very welcoming and responsive to every concern and question that I had; and I had many! My mom has now been there for two months and has made a wonderful adjustment to her new home. Every day she tells me how caring and kind everyone is towards her, which is evident upon each visit. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for this type of care!

2019-04-23My Mom lived at Brandywine for 2.5 years. I cannot speak highly enough about the warmth, dedication and caring compassion of the staff. They always made us feel welcome, and went out of their way to work with us to accommodate Mom’s needs. The facility is clean and well maintained. Although she didn’t participate in the social activities and ultimately the assisted living model didn’t work for her, we always knew that Mom was safe, comfortable and well cared for at Brandywine.

2019-10-30My Grandmother has lived at Brandywine for 2 months now. I cannot speak highly enough about the warmth, dedication and caring compassion of the staff. They always make us feel welcomed, and go out of their way to work with us to accommodate grandmas’s needs. We are beyond happy to know that she is well cared for and best of all she is being treated like family.

2018-09-05My parents lived there for 2 years until my mom passed away. The staff are warm, friendly, caring and dedicated. Always happy to stop and chat and listen to whatever stories they had to tell. Always made us feel welcome and happy to accommodate any requests. The only down side- the food was never hot enough. Lukewarm at best. A small price to pay for the outstanding care Brandywine provided for the last 2 years of my mom’s life.

2019-11-20I entertain regularly at Brandywine and the seniors are always so happy and full of life. The place is very clean and the staff are always so welcoming and friendly to me. The Recreation staff does so many great activities with the residents and they go on fun trips too. I always look forward to going to there.

2019-10-16Staff is great...Nora, Janet and Abby did a great job acclimating my mom. Sherry can be difficult at times but has a good heart. Wellness center keeps on top of appts. The ladies Bibi and Megan assisted me transporting my mom with a warm patient smile. Also the food I thought was awesome. It is presented well and alot of flavor. Plus many items are available all day.Plenty of choices.Communication at the front desk is important to me when I call from Florida to see if mom is ok...Derika, Janice and Jeremy all provide me with comforting information..I was also impressed with recreation...always something to do. I was there in NY visiting with my mom from florida for 5 days. I observed it all!

2018-12-12This facility is amazing to work with. I have volunteered there for 4 months now and I absolutely love it. They treat the residents so well and try very hard to get them involved. They have activities going on all day everyday, something for everyone such as exercises, cognitive games, store trips etc. The staff are incredibly hard working especially when it comes to decorating for events. They think out of the box in order to help make the event amazing for everyone. They also involve holidays that arent always celebrated such as veterans day, Channukah and Christmas, and more. They have events to get family involved and it is just an amazing experience.
