Breads Bakery in other cities:
I didnt know this location didnt have the black and white cookie but i got the spinach pastry and it was bomb as hell. perfectly balanced between salty feta and earthy spinach. will def be getting this item again. the server was really nice and explained to me where i can get the thing i was looking for
Great coffee and baked goods, as always. Dinging them a star for only offering single-use disposable cups and products as the default option. They did serve my cappuccino in a reusable mug upon request, but it should be the other way around: serving customers in plastic-free reusables should be the default option given growing awareness of climate change and the impact of single-use disposable waste on our environment.
Egg sandwich was delicious and the sesame bun was chewy. However, the mushroom quiche was cold in the center, even after I asked them to re-heat it again. Shout-out to the staff for accommodating and re-heating the quiche, but for $10 I recommend you buy their breads!
Just tried this spot for the first time today. Picked up a chocolate croissant for the wifes craving and she absolutely loved the chocolate filling. Flaky yet soft croissant exterior. I got the garlic parm bread stick which was so damn tasty and I would get more next time around. Staff was very attentive and friendly.
Breads is one fo the oldest and most prominent bakeries in the lower east side of Manhattan. Their bread is freshly made and they still use a starter dough from when they began their business many years ago.I’ve been visiting Breads for years and the chocolate babka (pictured) is always a delight. The staff are very kind and the atmosphere is conducive to work, casual meetings, or even just a coffee and a book.Be sure to visit and try the chocolate babka- it’s one of a kind!
A place with an Israeli feel to it - it had an Israeli salad, hummus and other pastries common to Israeli bakeries.Got to say that the prices are overwhelming and the place feels really pompous. However, eventually the coffee and the ice coffee we had were good, and the pastries were nice as well. The service was polite and considerable, too. There was a small mistake with my order which was corrected with no hesitation.
I was recommended to buy cinnamon rolls at this place by a friend. And they did not disappoint!! They taste like cinnamon and fine sugar covering a soft cloud like pastry dough. Absolutely my favorite cinnamon roll ever! I also got chocolate babka which was really good, chocolate croissants and chocolate brownie. All were really good, but again those cinnamon rolls were just unbelievable! You need to get those!
Only in New York! I had to make a reservation for my pizza a week in advance. Crispy, chewy, thin crust like you don’t get anywhere else. The sauce actually tasted like sauce, with aromatic italian seasoning, not canned factory slop. The cheese was magically applied so it covered the entire pie in a delicately salted field. They put it in the oven when you arrive so it never sits under a heat lamp. I won’t say how much it cost because that might dissuade a purchase.
Bread Story is a bakery squeezed into the edge of StuyTown. nice clean interior. the narrow shop stretches far back so it is not a small space. all the baked eats are displayed neatly. baking is done on premises bc there is a bakery in the back. Bread Story also serves coffee drinks.stopped by here to grab some sweet tasty calories and i was not disappointed. got a white chocolate brioche--nice balanced amount of sweetness in this small airy roll. soft, rich, puffy, and buttery. if you are looking for something to satisfy those afternoon hunger pangs then pair this brioche with some coffee and youll be all set. white chocolate brioche, $4.50 + tipthe staff is friendly and helpful.
If it was not for my girlish figure I would live at this bakery. I love their croissants especially the almond filled. The croissants have just the right amount of crispness and always are very fresh. You can also order some of the sandwiches which are also nicely prepared. Staff are always helpful and nice.
Update 8/10/21: Tucked into Breads Bakery is a pizza pop-up called Stretch run by Wylie Dufresne. You order online on the Breads website. Stretch is open T-Thurs from 5-8pm. We ordered the Classic and Yolks Up pizzas. Both were delicious. Make sure you try the pizzas in addition to the breakfast calzone. In the middle of a pandemic, Breads Bakery offers cozy and delicious baked treats. My personal favorite is the chocolate babka. Just enough chocolate to bread ratio to make this a perfect treat. On the savory side, the cheese sticks and Jerusalem baguettes are best with a creamy soup. I can never resist getting something whenever I am in the neighborhood.
Update: 09-30-20: refreshing this review because it has 30,000 views...I guess the people liked this review.Stopped by for some coffee and also ordered a cinnamon bun. The bread just tastes so much better here than everywhere else. Also they use cinnamon sugar on the bun instead of frosting or glaze. It tastes alot better with the bread that they make. Good customer service nice sitting area. They also have sandwiches but I didnt get to try because i came here in the morning. Only downside was that the weather was cloudy and it looks like rain but I was here early so sun still might come out. I would recommend.
The chocolate babka is soft with chocolate goodness! I recommend.. I spent $15 on a loaf of babka, I wish I knew there was smaller ones.. if you don’t want to spend as much, I recommend asking the people behind the counter if they have smaller ones.. I would come back
Great bakery and cafe near Union Square. Delicious looking pastries, bread, egg sandwiches and other assorted breakfast and lunch snacks. There is limited outdoor seating (first come first serve), with about 5 tables.I docked them a star because everything is overpriced. Even the most petite sandwich is over $6.
Divine quality of chocolate pastries and my go-to place for chocolate pastries for the past 5 years. Their chocolate babka has the perfect amount of chocolate and I love how they are always evenly spread throughout the bread. Recently I tried their palmier and mini chocolate croissants and they were also heavenly.
Hands down to the best BABKA i’ve ever had😍!!! Can’t get enough of it!Breads Bakery is a very good place with a lot of sweet and savory options. They have free samples usually every day for the most part of the day!The back has salads options as well. Can’t wait to go back and have more!!!!
From the moment you step in, the scent of baked goods makes you happy. The clean and well lit place surrounded by baked goods of extraordinary quality makes this place fantastic.Great to take to go or hang out and work. You might even get surprised by free samples! The chocolate babka is what they are famous for and is amazing
Breads Bakery is the best bakery cafe in Tel Aviv and is also the best bakery cafe in Manhattan. We like the one just off Union Square but there is one across the street from Lincoln Center and they operate a kiosk in Bryant Park.I could go on and on about their strudel and chocolate babka as well as their other sundry goodies but hurry over to 18 East 16th Street and see for yourself. Limited seating despite recent improvements but most customers get on line to take their coffee and pastry to go so usually no problem getting a table.Just off Union Square, you can take a break from the green market or shopping on 5th Ave.
12.31.17 - Hung out for a few hours eating fresh made babka and an Americano. The babka was gooey and and crunchy at the same time (when warm); the Americano was smooth and just right. The staff was super nice and attentive and they were offering samples at the front to walk-ins and offering it to customers already seated.I increased the rating from 3 stars to 4 stars because its consistently good food and coffee after returning a few more times. The seating area is kept clean and organized so that helps with a table is cleared and made ready for more customers. Why no 5-stars? My opinion isnt that valuable, but I like to reserve for myself when a place is just good and special (the babka is actually almost that special).Could there be a pricing option for 3 babkas?***Original Review*** Awesome bread, good coffee, great location. Overall, not bad!
The best bakery in Manhattan! With a Israeli flair!Everything is Fresh buttery and Delicious! Once you try it youll be hooked!Various locations Lincoln Center, Bryant Park & West 16th StreetTry the almond croissants youll thank me! 😋I cant walk 🚶 by without having to treat myself!Terrific salads and quick bites too!
I accidentally stumbled upon this bakery 2 years ago and Im so happy that I did. I love their chocolate rugelach, its absolutely delicious and I can eat like 7 in one sitting. They have great sandwiches as well so you can grab lunch here and sit in the park (its right next to Union Sq). @traveleen_gurl
Absolutely amazing pastries, bread, crossiants, its a little busy here but you cant resists. The chocolate rugulach are heaven on earth haha, the chocolate babka, their challah and chiabata bread is amazing. I have to hold myself back from always going here because it can become an addiction. Everything is just so perfectly made. Wish there was more seating, it can be a little pricey when you want to get everything, but once in a while it wont break the bank. Everyone should just go here at least once.... or forever.
One of my favorite bakeries in the city! The chocolate babka is legendary and is my secret weapon hostess gift. Another favorite is their gouda cheese sticks, which I usually end up buying (and consuming) way more of than I should. Theres a cafe in the back with sandwiches and seating. Its always fun to pop in to check out their seasonal offerings, the raisin challah bread recently was divine. Ive also ordered holiday pies from them, which are predictably amazing.
This is def my fav bakery in the city. I usually get their chocolate rugelach(mini croissant)and cheese straw. Their famous babka is top notch. They used to have a plain rugelach, which has some kinds of yellowish soft cream filling- I really hope they can bring the rugelach back!
So, where can you find some of the best quiche in New York? The kind of quiche with flakey, chewy crusts and amazing ingredients? 🙌 This place right here.Their breakfast selection is incredible, from beautifully scrambled egg sandwiches with bits of chive, pizza, lattes, etc. All available at almost any time.
I was hesitant at first to give 5 stars - 6.50 for a not very large egg sandwich?! I thought. But the bread was to die for. This isnt your standard Starbucks breakfast sandwich or even coffee shop sandwich, because you can really taste the freshness of the bread. I ate in with a nice coffee - free refills, and a nice young man came around with delicious free samples of their treats, in which this place seems to specialize. Would recommend!
Their chocolate babka is to die for. Literally like eating chocolate threaded together by croissant dough. Super flaky and scrumptious. Just picked up a fruit tart for a party and the berries are all perfect. The cream super fresh - perfect amount of sweetness and the ingredients are such high quality its worth the price.
This place is incredible. After spending some time in Paris, I had been searching for a croissant that could match those I had all the time there, without much luck. BUT Breads Bakery delivered, with spectacularly crisp and flaky croissants that would fit in any top Paris bakery. They were so so good and I will definitely be returning for more.
Very fresh and tasty, and for this - also a bit on the expensive side.Lots of butter and flakiness in the pastries.Food:- Choco croissant - very good- Bureka - Savory pastry - feta and spinach, potato, feta, and cream cheese+egg (theres a whole egg in it!)- Cinnamon roll- Poppy seed bun- Chocolate babka - their signature - buttery and chocolatey and sweet- Chocolate rugalesh - the ratio of chocolate and butter to pastry was pretty high for me- Wheat bread - one of the fresh daily breads they have - good but a bit too sour for my personal taste- Quiche - Mediterranean - unique combination with eggplant in it; they were able to toast in the back for us too- Creme brulee danish - it was okay - I liked the toasted almonds, but the custard tasted a bit too much like almond extract to me.Service:- very friendly and helpful
Delicious Swiss Muesli, perfect for breakfast. I ordered a couple loaves and the This Is My Jan breakfast combo on grub hub. The loaves are really great, but the croissant that was supposed to come with my combo didn’t make it to my apartment. I have reached out to breads and will update my review based on how they handle this. Update: they refunded me through grub hub. I’m very happy with their service and will try the croissant another time!
Don’t go here if you have any food allergy concerns. The person who served me laughed a and threw her hands in the air when I asked if something contained nuts. She had no idea whatsoever of any basic ingredients and acted like knowing what was in the food was not her responsibility. Just asked super basic questions and could get no answer.
We love breads. We get their almond croissant a lot, which we think is one of the best in the city. Weve also gotten their pain au chocolat, mini pumpkin pie, mini apple crumble pie, and sourdough bread which are all delicious. They have limited outdoor seating but its right next to union square park which has more benches to eat at if you want.
The staff at this location are sweet. I bought (le pain au chocolat and the chocolate almond croissant). Le pain au chocolat was ok, but slightly burned for my taste. The Almond Chocolate Croissants were SO SWEET we could not enjoy at all, this was unfortunate because I was eager about the almond chocolate croissant. Please use less sugar and almond paste inside.Try more chocolate inside and the almond flakes on the top of the croissant. I might come back for something different, but not for these right now.PS. This comes form a constructive criticism point of view.
Delicious bread, tasty pastries and very good sandwiches and flat bread/pizzas. Try the Cheese sticks or the olive sticks. The red cabbage flat bread is very very good. The place can get crowded and service quality sometimes could be compromised because of the that. Prices are a bit high. The restrooms are clean.

My best friend bring me here for some tasty cheese bread sticks but I ended up much much happier than I thought. I was thinking just the regular cheese sticks nothing special but I was so wrong! I get also the mushroom guiche And he cheddar croissant 🥐 awesome choice you should try it for your self. The staff was very patients and nice with me ( I am ordering very slow and carefully! ) definitely is a good spot for chatting with friends and relax. Definitely recommend
When I used to work in the area, I would visit every Friday for a treat. My favorite was the chocolate almond croissant ($5). It is on the pricier side but, its tasty and made fresh (La Defense in Brooklyn made a better chocolate almond croissant but, they closed down). Breads Bakery is a great place to stop by for a quick treat (can be enjoyed in store as there is ample seating available) or a loaf of bread for dinner as everything is made fresh. The staff can be hit or miss but, one staffer told me that at the end of the day, they put some of the baked goods on sale.
We ordered 3 different kinds of muffins, all of which were perfect, the jelly filled one was especially great. Its a tad pricey at 3.5 $ per muffin, however its a bargain for the quality they offer. Staff was also very warm and cooperative. We would definitely revisit wherever we are near Union Square.
Breads Bakery is a highly rated bakery just off of Union Square, which has become a tourist area. Thats why my wife and I were skeptical about Breads Bakery, but we enjoyed it. Its not a very cute looking bakery, but they focus on making great baked goods. They are known to have the best babka in NYC. Sadly, you can only buy a massive loaf, so we didnt try it, but I very much enjoyed a chocolate croissant and an almond chocolate croissant. Theres plenty of seating and they even have a deli in the back that also serves coffee! Unlike many places in NYC, they have public restrooms as well!
I have had a lot of cheesecake in my day but can honestly say for traditional cheesecake this place has the best I have EVER had! The babka and other items looked amazing but I didn’t have a chance to try anything else. Absolutely worth the trip for the cheesecake alone! Downside is the limited places to eat and the camping out some of the clientele do as if this is a Starbucks. Lived in Tokyo for four years and places like this ask patrons to move along once done eating out of courtesy to new customers needing to eat. This place needs to do the same IMO. Anyways...stop in and enjoy this great bakery!
I have a major Breads addiction. I get an Americano there every morning and have to refrain from ordering a baked good everyday, too - though I do partake in what one might call, window shopping, in which I walk slowly by the glass case of baked goods on my way out the door and ogle. Im actually consistently shocked by the staffs positive, upbeat demeanor - ownership should give the gentleman with the bleached hair and hat a promotion and raise. They put down just what you need to pick-up pre-coffee on your way to work in the AM.In fact, I was inspired to weigh-in with a review after having their Moroccan soup for lunch today. It was delicious - served with two slices of their homemade bread and very filling. I also have been known to treat myself to a chocolate-almond croissant when theyre in stock - bravissimo!
I would give 6 stars if I could. I used to work merely blocks away from this location and my coworkers introduced me to the gateway drug, the chocolate babka.I haven’t visited Breads for a long time, and it was so lovely to see them still thriving during the pandemic and making it a safe environment for buyers. I’d since become an avid home baker and now truly appreciate the absolutely unrivaled mastery that goes into each challah, roll, and babka at Breads. They are art.I was able to get my partner some beloved babka from here today for her birthday - she has been craving it since watching a Munchies video featuring one of the bakers.Oh, I should mention, the absolute best butter croissant one can get in all of New York City.Thank you for your presence during these difficult times in NYC. It provides us with a sense of normalcy.
The most delicious bread, pastries and salads! Everything is so fresh and yummy😋Everytime Im in the neighborhood I must go to Breads theyre Almond Croissants the best in the world!Salads are so fresh!I stock up on Croissants and keep them in my freezer to have on hand when I get in that yummy mood 😋
A must visit if youre in the city! We waited around 30 minutes to finally go inside and get our cookies, but it was so worth the wait! I heard so much about this bakery and saw so many videos/photos, and it definitely delivered! I stuck to the 4 cookies: chocolate chip walnut, double chocolate chip, chocolate chip peanut butter, and oatmeal raisin. And just ordered a good number of each flavor to take back with me
Great bakery! Really good pastries. I’m just not giving them 5 stars because their hot chocolate is a literal bomb: it’s so so sweet, I couldn’t finish it. I also thought their cheesecake could be better and a little cheaper (costs 8 dollars!). Other than that, this place is great.
Breads has the best bread I have ever eaten. This was the fourth time I have been there and every time I have gotten one of the chocolate Babkas as they as so good. A little bit more expensive than your average bakery, but worth every penny for how amazing the bread is. Along with great bread is great customer service. I will continue to go here for great bread on special occasions.
Great place! Amazing food, kind staff. Deal for New School students: if you go after 8 pm for $15 you get a truly giant bag of pastries! It was fun to pick out a variety of things to try and I don’t think I’ll ever go hungry again. Getting another bag to share with my family next time they visit!
The baked goods here are great - they have probably my favourite croissant in the city (and Ive tried probably 20+) but its just so damn expensive. There are tiny cookies for $3 each. I can appreciate that quality things arent cheap but many items here are just so overpriced. This is just for the bakery at the front, Ive never tried the cafe section at the back.
Excellent bakery - everything from the loaves to the savory pastries, cookies and cakes, is delicious. Personal favorites are the buttery and flaky potato burekas, tangy sourdough, well-rounded Tunisian sandwich, and rich chocolate babka. Iced coffee is smooth and full-bodied - with oat, soy, and almond milks available.
Anything you get there is gonna be awesome, although they often don’t have a lot of stuff ready by 9am when I normally go there. Also very pricey. But the ruggaleh is of a quality that you normally can only get in Israel and the chocolate babka (though I haven’t yet tried it) looks outstanding.
Breads Bakery is my favorite bakery in Manhattan and now in Brooklyn too @ the new Time Out Market. The bread is always so fresh! You can’t go wrong here whether you choose a sandwich or just some babka. If you haven’t been to Breads Bakery before and you’re reading this- stop everything you’re doing and come here now. The cheese ties are too good to be true.
Really delicious bread. The name mostly says it all, it is a BREAD BAKER so if youre looking to eat cakes and stuff like that, there are other places you can go to because they do not have a lot of selections. I did end hp having the chocolate mousse I believe, which was yummy but like I said, its a bread bakery.
I can’t get enough of this place. Absolutely love the holidays editions. If you’ll arrive an hour before closing you’ll get 35% discount. And whatever they offer you to taste take it! You won’t regret it. The Hamantaschen are amazing they have 6 different flavors, try them all.
I ordered chocolate and cinnamon babka from Breads Bakery through Goldbelly. The food shipped in a timely manner and was well preserved. I put the breads I was not planning on eating immediately in the freezer. I have since eaten them, and they freeze really well--they thaw perfectly as though they were never frozen to begin with. This is a matter of preference, but the chocolate babka was my favorite. Absolutely delicious with large areas/chunks of chocolate throughout the bread. It came with two chocolate babka and one cinnamon babka. I confess that I ate one of the chocolate babka in one day. I just couldnt stop eating it. The cinnamon babka was also delicious, with raisins for added texture and flavor throughout. The bread was the perfect level of moist, and the bread was easy to both cut into/tear pieces from directly. Delicious treat for myself and anyone else!
They are said to have the best chocolate babka, and it did not disappoint! Everything weve had there has been absolutely delicious. The chocolate rugelach is a must-try, you will be sad if you dont. The cinnamon rolls, cookies, loaves of bread, everything - it all tastes even better than it looks! Cant wait to go back!
Plain croissants are excellent but over-priced. Buttery, flaky & much will end up on your plate (crumbs) Chocolate are a total ripoff - I ate 3/4 of a croissant before any chocolate was even visible. The bit of chocolate that was present had diminished flavor. Looking for a croissant full of dark chocolate at 1/2 the price (near Union Square) stop by Eden Gourmet any morning or Francesca’s kiosk at local farmers market on Friday.
It was our first time visiting NY city. We were really just walking around taking in the sites when we stumbled in to Breads Bakery. It was busy, but not overwhelming. We walked to the counter and ordered a slice of chocolate mousse cake and a slice of cheesecake. The cheesecake was on our list of NY musts and we thought Breads would be just as good as any other place to try it. Well, I was wrong. Breads cheesecake was not like any other place. It is absolutely spectacular. I am only leaving the review because I went to the website hoping I could order one to be shipped to NH. It doesnt look like thats the case, but that Bourban Pecan Pie looks like it may be an acceptable substitution. Do yourself a favor and try the cheesecake.
I just had a lunch catered by BREADS. Cannot say enough good things about the delicious & beautifully presented food. Everything was scrumptious & perfect!!!And kudos to Samantha Weiss, the catering manager.....such a pleasure to work with....knowledgeable and competent & delightful.Have been a customer for years but this was my first catering order. As with everything they do, the food is fresh, delicious, beautiful and all served up with the love of the staff. Keep up the good work!!!Helena Diamant Glass
So far weve tried several different kinds of bread from Breads Bakery, whatever we get its always delicious. The bread actually tastes like what they were made of and always addictive. We get loaf of Breads once a week or so and we have to restrain ourselves to not finish the bread all at once. Good with Kerry gold butter, cream cheese, or just plain. Tried several breads from the union farmers market, but end up coming back to Breads Bakery for their distinct flavors of bread taste breads (shocking that breads actually tastes like different flours and ingredients).(Edit: the loaf of bread is all gone, that didnt last)
Really good!!! I picked up my meal using the “Food For All” app, it provides discounted meals to users by partnering with amazing restaurants wanting to minimize food waste!!! This app is amazing as I get meals for very very cheap vs. retail and it is great eco-friendly option! I picked up the tuna salad! I normally don’t eat fish or eggs as I try to be vegan for 90% of meals, but the app only gave options for omnivore salads, but it was still very good! They also gave out free bread roll, that was obviously so good as well! 😍
This is a popular spot. Youll be lucky if you get to sit although the quick seat turnover makes the wait worth a while. Grab a coffee and munch on a couple of chocolate rugelach. You wont regret it. Snack on any of the delicious bruschetta combinations offered. Ive had the one with cherry tomatoes, pesto and cream cheese. Located conveniently near Union Square Park.
Im originally Israeli, so I may be a bit biased, but this place has some of the most amazing baked goods Ive ever had. Now since this is NYC youll probably be able to find a fair share of good bakeries. But theres one thing that Breads executes extremely well on and thats their Babka and Ruglech. Dont walk out of here without trying those :)
This was a nice selection for catering that we had at a recent event. The bread on the mini rolls was sure tasty. I enjoyed the smoked salmon roll. The salads with nice dressings were a nice healthy compliment. The cookies smelled delicious and my son thoroughly enjoyed. The raisin roll was heavenly.
After living across the street for 3 yrs, I can say that Im most sad to be moving because of my new further proximity to Breads. The breads, coffees, pastries, etc are out of this world. Best in New York without a doubt. Certainly a feeling of price gauging, but you get what you pay for. The quality is superb, service decent and selection fantastic.
Quality bread, quality pastries, quality coffee. Their oatmeal walnut Monday bread is hearty, chewy, and still soft at the same time. If its not a Monday, their cereal bread is great as an everyday sandwich loaf. There are so many others to try too. For those complaining about the price, if you want the best ingredients without shortcuts in the process, you have to pay for it. I have no problem with it if Im getting quality like this. The babka may not look special at first glance, but once you taste it, youll understand.
I grew up in Paris and I live in NY,weeks ago I was tired of NYC fake croissants so I decided to look for croissants that taste just like in Paris .I tried many places and I found Breads Bakery. At first the croissants that I tasted were so good ,and their chocolate chip cookies are excellent.I was going there every week ,but recently I don’t recognize the taste ,it looks like they have 2 different bakery chefs now.I just came from there ,it tastes just ok ,it looks like it is missing some butter and milk, nothing like Paris croissants, this is the 3rd time it tastes like that .I think it is time for me to look for another bakery
Famous for its bakery goods (not to be missed), I particularly love it as a spot for lunch, I can come here and get delicious gazpacho, hummus, salad, soup and sandwiches of all kinds. There is an area where you can sit and enjoy your lunch and your coffee or tea. Ingredients are high-quality and so almost everything I have tried here was delicious. Even my mum was happy, and she is the pickiest human I know.
Amazing bakery that is a bit off the normal tourist path in Union square. Anything here is delicious, hard to go wrong with any choice. Seating is limited so you may want to get your tasty goods to go and sit in the park if its a nice day. Dont forget to visit the coffee bar in the back for your caffeine fix!
Outstanding! Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Quality is excellent. Their breads are traditional old world method. Taste is excellent. Far better quality than what I can get at WFs, Wegmans. Only a very few bakers in the U. Sq. Market come close in quality.
Breads and croissants are consistently well-made, beautiful and fresh. Prices are consistently prohibitive to anyone apart from tourists, people looking for occasional treats or those making less than a corporates salary. Sad that quality food products remain exclusive items. Maybe it’s due to NYC lease rates and the Union Square location ? Let’s hope so...Staff are kind, patient and helpful, in any case.
Chocolate babka is amazing!! I always stop every week on my way through if I get out of class in time before they close and get a loaf to share with my roommates and its always gone within 20 minutes of walking through the apartment door!! Have not tried anything else since Im a creature of habit but everything always looks amazing. Bought a poppyseed cake for my father once and he said it was the best thing hes ever had. Although I have a love/hate thing with the food being out for people to just take. I like it cause it makes it easy for me to just walk in and grab one that looks good but I also dont know how many other people or kids have had their hands over the food. Other than that I love this place. Staff is always supper friendly and polite which is a rarity in New York bakeries. Never super busy when I go there so you dont have to wait in line for long. Tables in the back for you to sit if you wanted too. Just an overall great place.
It is always busy and has a good reputation. Im a BOB (baller on a budget) So i couldnt splurge. Despite this I still ended up spending about $15 bucks in here. I had the vegan sandwich about $10. Its filled with cauliflower, greens and a tasty spread. I recommend it, it was surprisingly yummy. Everything here tastes very fresh and although I only tried 2 items, I believe is worth returning as everyone seems to rave about their pastries and other goodies. 1 star off because it is expensive but I cant stop eating so I shall be back and end up poorer.
Delicious bakery !! They sell the best babka in town in my opinion. Many other sweet treats or savory bites (make sure to also check the back)I heard their breads and challahs are good but never tried myself. They also have many seasonal products : savory babkas, pumpkin pies, hannuka cakes, Purim treats and many others so make sure to swing by year round ;) I have often been pleasantly surprised by their seasonal stuff !Staff is always super helpful and friendly. they’ll come around with some bites to taste while you’re in line if you’re lucky :)
Hummus Kitchen (the uptown one) recommended this bakery for me. I got a loaf of egg challah and one special challah with Gouda cheese and raspberry. My Thai friend enjoyed it too. I live in southern California and next time Im in NYC, itll be a bee line straight to Breads Bakery!

2022-06-20Wonder breadThis wonderful bready spread isn’t your average plain white wonder bread though. @breadsbakery makes insanely delicious pastries and bread, sweet or savory. For a @grabbdapp collab, they gave me a tour through the bakery, some treats to try in store, and an entire tote bag of goodies to go! It was a really cool experience! Be sure to grab them on the Grabbd app!Pictured: Delicious chocolate babka (Jewish bready, twisted, cake), sweet life gives you lemons cake, sugary cinnamon roll, perfect cheese danish, yummy chocolate rugelach (Jewish flakey, rolled pastry), the cute tote bag, palmier (I called them ‘elephant ears’ growing up), sourdough loaf. Everything was so good!Cheesy puns make me gooey on the inside@breadsbakery makes insanely delicious pastries and bread, sweet or savory. 2022-02-22I love the aroma of bakery once i steped in the shop. It did not disappointed me. Ordered three items. Mushroom focaccia is my love. Tasty savory mushroom on top of soft and light crispy focaccia along with rosemary aroma. about $8. Highly recommended. The store may heatup the bakery item per customer request. Second, the spinach and feta pastry, layers of buttery flakes, tasty filling. yummy! about 2 for $6. Last but not least, the fresh baguette, cruchy outside and soft inside. It is perfect! 2 for $7.note: outdoor dinning with heater is available.

2021-10-06I love everything from this place and have gifted the babka to many friends who all loved it too. Even when I moved away from the city I ordered it to be shipped to me. I will say that the recipe seems to have changed a bit. It feels smaller and dryer than it once was. Still pretty good though.Their spinach feta pastry and Jerusalem baguettes are also especially fantastic.

2021-10-08Love Breads Bakery! The bread is so fresh and tasty, and they have so many different options to try. Our only complaint is that its a bit expensive (for example, ~$5 for a chocolate croissant), but I think the quality reflects the price.

2021-10-24Best croissants Ive had in awhile. Go early cause they run out of stuff. It is pricey so be aware as it adds up! Really nice people work here. Also the mini croissants are reeally rich! I prefer the big croissants.

2021-11-12Im a fan. Such a big fan. Everything from breads to pastries to coffee is perfect. Chefs kiss. The flakiest croissants and rugelach - your tongue will feel every layer. The savory puffs are as flaky and the best part is theyre generously stuffed. Youll taste the filling in every single bite. Not greasy ever. Theyre known for breads and they do such justice! And the snappiest palmiers. So delicious.Havent yet tried the pizza but saw numerous customers enjoy their pies heartily. So definitely coming back!

2022-05-15Finally got to try the iconic popular babka with a guest visiting NY! Perfect amount of sweetness with just the right amount of nutella& dark chocolate chips. Babka was quite big but the three of us managed to finish it in no time. Would come back to try the other pastries, especially the croissant & rugelach. Plus points for being one of the only cafes that stay open after 6pm on Sunday in the USQ area. Outdoor seating only.

2022-07-04This place is to die for. The pastries were so fresh and flaky and the staff was so friendly at both counters. I only had a few days to spend in NYC with so many places to go but I ended up making a second stop here to bring some pastries home and have their oat milk iced mocha one more time. I can’t wait to come back to NYC solely to come here and single handedly eat an entire loaf of their chocolate babka (it’s honestly the best I’ve ever had)
