After an exhausting apartment hunt and feeling like I’d never find anything, Josh came through and helped me get a really awesome place. He was receptive to my needs and my stress, friendly, easy to talk to, quick, and super personable. I’m moving in today and couldn’t be more thankful for Josh’s help!
I went to this office knowing with my credit and income the apartment would be perfect and a smoot process. Unfortunately, I was met with stone face, cold attitude by Charna I had to asked because she didnt greet me at all. Actually she looked disgusted i had even rug the bell. She asked if I had an appointment, as she sat down, I told her I wanted to speak with someone about a property. She never once said have a seat. I told her the address and without clicking one button she says, I think that units been rented. I tilt my head and then she ask my salary and credit score. (66,500, 750 fyi) I respond and then without clicking one button she said, I dont think you would qualify for that unit. She then asked if I had a guarantor, and if I knew their salary. I respond yes and no. She said well Ill take your information and contact you if we have anything else. I asked for a business card and the whole office was full of papers but no business cards. I left knowing she was never going to call me because she wrote my information on the back of some junk mail. Thanks Charna your one professional chicDont waste your time. Those 5☆ reviews are from family and friends.
Do not do business with brick and Galo. Very unprofessional, they have been caught lying to a lot of clients. If you do Business with them, make sure you have EVERYTHING in writing. Do not do business over the phone, have all communication via email for in some kind of written proof.
Just signed a lease through Asher Simpson at Brick and Galo and it couldn’t have been a better experience. He was responsive with all of our questions, had us touring the apartment less than 24 hours after we expressed interest in the unit and made the application and signing process as easy as possible for us. I couldn’t be happier with my experience, not to mention the amazing apartment I’ll be moving into next week!
Izzy Pruss made our entire apartment hunting + move in process incredibly easy! He was very welcoming and worked with my roommate and I to get the apartment we love. I’d definitely request his help again and have already recommended him to friends looking for apartments!
Had a really positive experience working with Izzy! He was responsive, trustworthy and overall just really nice. He really prioritized the client, which felt like a breath of fresh air. He went above and beyond by giving me thoughtful advice about the apartment hunting process. Id recommend him to anyone!
I cant say enough about how much we enjoyed working with Izzy at Brick and Galo. We first met Izzy a year ago when our daughter and her roommates -- all students at NYU -- were looking for an apartment. We are from San Francisco, so the whole broker thing was new to us. But from the first meeting we had the sense that Izzy was honest and upstanding. He was patient, thoughtful, and helped them find a place that perfectly suited their needs. This year, when my daughter decided she wanted her own place, we contacted Izzy again. He responded immediately to our emails, was always friendly, communicative, and absolutely professional. He helped us find a place in one day and followed through at every step to make sure the application and approval process went smoothly. He has good relationships with landlords and supers--which says a lot about how good of a guy he is. We were happy to take the apartment as it was, but before our daughter moved in, the landlord replaced the bathroom vanity as a courtesy. I would engage Izzzy’s services again in a heartbeat.
Working with Izzy at Brick and Galo was the easiest and most stress-free apartment rental experience I’ve ever had in NYC. He was super communicative, helped me find the perfect spot and made the process quick, smooth, and simple. Highly recommend working with them if you’re looking for a spot in Brooklyn, especially in these crazy pandemic times!
Izzy is a great broker. Very responsive and honest. I trust him when he says that once we put the deposit down, the apartment is ours unless our application is denied. Unfortunately that’s not always a given, even if the broker says it is.Be aware the application fee is very high and there was a $250 “management fee”, which we were too tired to question. I didn’t feel too bad about all that though considering Izzy was one of the best of the many brokers we worked with, and the apartment is very competitively priced and rent stabilized. You get what you pay for.
We had a fabulous agent named Cherna. She was responsive and professional. She took us through the entire process and answered all questions we had to the best of her ability. You can tell she has a passion for her job and understands the various nuances unlike others we encountered. I highly recommend her and this office.
Brick and Galo and their employee, Izzy, came recommended to me through a friend. Over a two week period he showed me many apartments in my desired neighborhood and price range. He was always on time to our appointments, always had his phone on, and answered emails in a prompt and timely manner. Polite and professional, I would highly recommend him and his company when in search of you next living space.
I had a great experience working with Brick and Galo for finding my new apartment. Everything was handled smoothly, efficiently, and promptly! Joseph is super knowledgeable about the buildings that he shows and keeps in contact with you regularly throughout the whole process. Will definitely work with them again next time I’m apartment hunting!
Had a great experience working with Izzy Pruss. Unlike most realtors, he took the time to ask us a bunch of questions to understand what we were looking for, and used that info to help us decide which apartments to see. He was very informative, answered all our questions, and helped us understand how the application process would work. He was also very responsive throughout the application process. Definitely the best broker I worked with over the 2 weeks or so I was apartment hunting. Its a low bar, but he rises far above.
I want to thank Carmen Pena, for always being there for us. We are excited to be moving to our first new home together. She helped us, from looking at apartment, to then being approved. I also want to thank Israel, for giving us the opportunity to have our first home. He was welcomed and very professional as soon as we walked in for an interview. Thank you all, GREAT TEAM!!!!!!
Use this realtor! I was very nervous about looking for an apartment as the nyc rental market can be a nightmare, but Israel made the entire process so easy. He was incredibly patient, communicative, and transparent about every step of the process. I found an apartment I love and he definitely advocated for me to the landlord as my income was a bit below the desired amount for a tenant. If you want looking for an apartment to be stress free, I highly recommend brick and galo!
I have worked with Brick and Galo twice now and both times were fantastic. My most recent experience was with Izzy. He is such a good realtor and is so wonderful to work with. While my roommate and I didnt end up getting an apartment through Brick and Galo (we ended up finding a space in our current building), Izzy was still so helpful. He knew our area extremely well and was able to give us great options within our budget and radius. Overall, would definitely recommend to anyone!
Izzy Pruss wrongfully charged my roommate $500 for services he did not complete.UPDATE: This is an update from a review I posted earlier that contained some things that were not fact-checked. The following contains my reasons for the 1-star review, both from the original review and an updated account of events for accuracy. My apartment is incredible, lived here for 4 years with little trouble. Except, of course, when we need to get Izzy involved. Our relationship with Izzy started off rocky, and has only gone downhill. He never showed up to our first apartment viewing. Called, texted for an hour. Nothing. Second viewing, he made a marked improvement and showed up an hour late. All questions about the apartment, neighborhood, and management company were met with glib, condescending answers or just shrugs. Wheres the nearest grocery store? I dont know. Any good cafes in the area? *shrug*I dont live here. We did all that research on our own and came to the decision to move here despite his utter lack of knowledge and unprofessionalism. He showed up an hour late to our lease signing, leaving us to wait on the curb outside his office in the August heat.UPDATED: In November of last year, one of my roommates got a new job and had to move before the lease was up. My new roommate wanted to replace her on the lease. Theyd hoped to do all the paperwork through building management directly, but they directed my roommates to do all interactions through Brick and Galo (already shady, many friends in the same scenario had been able to go directly through the landlord)Izzy claimed that the fee for replacing someone on the lease during the lease term was $500. A considerable amount of money for people like us for something that should be simple. Dont worry though, no one would be charged until paperwork was processed. Both did the appropriate paperwork and sent it to him. Then, he charged the roommate that was leaving. He charged the wrong person $500. If hed done his job, he would have charged the incoming roommate. He made a mistake. Fine. Had he realized this earlier, and refunded her, we wouldnt be where we are now. Either he honestly didnt realize his mistake, which would make him negligent, or he did, and said nothing, which would make him dishonest. Either way, it shows an utter lack of regard for his job and my roommate.Fast forward nine months later, I receive the lease renewal papers, and nothing Izzy claims he did everything on [his] part to do had even been done. My old roommate was still on the lease, and my new roommate was not.He claims that this is a miscommunication on the part of management, relinquishing all responsibility for the deal he was supposed to broker. If $500 does not pay for confirmation that the deal had been done, then I dont know what its for. Not to mention that the $500 was not supposed to have been charged until the deal was done.In short, Izzy 1) charged the wrong person for 2) a job he did not even complete. Perhaps it wasnt intentionally malicious, but it is certainly negligent, and further proof of his unprofessionalism. He still has yet to refund my roommate the $500 she is rightfully owed, not only because he did not complete any of the paperwork he claimed to do, but because he charged the wrong person in the first place. He has been more professional and communicative about trying to get me to take this review down than he ever was when we were signing our lease. Id expect this is not his first time dealing with this exact scenario.TL,DR: Izzy Pruss has shown to be negligent and unprofessional, costing my former roommate $500 which he has yet to refund. Avoid Brick and Galo.
Israel G. helped me, my wife and daughter upgrade from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom with ease and professionalism. Thanks to him we have a really easy move (during winter/covid)! Definitely will recommend Brick and Galo to anyone looking for real estate in NYC!Thanks Israel!
Josh was a delight to work with when I wanted an apartment seen on Street Easys website. He was professional, quickly responsive, patient, and kept me in the loop throughout the process. I got the apartment and I am so happy for this new chapter. Thank you, Josh for all your help. I will definitely refer you to others.
Izzy was great! He was very responsive to our inquiries, and he helped us along the renting process all the way. He was really helpful in communicating with all 3 renters and made it as smooth as possible. We got the apartment and love it. Definitely use him if you can.
These guys are awesome! Josh looked at a few places with my boyfriend and me, and showed us one that we absolutely fell in love with. Unfortunately the move in date was a few weeks before we could move out of our old place, so it didn’t seem like it would work out. A week later, Josh emailed me saying that the apartment was still available, and we could move in on the day we wanted. He and his manager, Israel walked us through the whole process and helped us secure our dream apartment. They kept in constant communication the entire time, letting us know exactly what was going on and making it easy for us. Also, they’re just really nice and good people.
Was in talks to view and possibly rent a APT in Brooklyn, I scheduled time realtor couldnt meet on requested time.. realtor chose to send me 3 different times and was informed of my work schedule...I agreed to the last 6:20pm.. ( keep in mind Ive been working through this pandemic from the first day, my day starts @ 5:45A.M and ends somedays around 7pm or later) left work at 4:30pm just to scope area only to receive message 25 minutes before meet which Im already there just to getoh! that apartment is being processed for another person Ill let you know if something comes up...Really!!! weve been talking for 2 days about this apartment and you telling me you didnt do any research to see if the apartment was still available🤔 Im not a realtor but Im pretty sure thats the 1st thing I would have done.Something is fishy I used a app and found the apartment. I saved it now that same app is no longer showing me that apartment but when I use that very same app on 2 other phones with people with different accounts it shows that apartment was never rented...
Definitely shady. $250 “move in fee”? And they’re pretending the agency fee ($90) is the application fee (capped at $20 by ny state law), so if you have a guarantor they make you and your guarantor both pay $90 🤯 when asked if he could explain this again in writing, Izzy said it was “easier to explain over the phone,” and when I said I would like it explained in writing regardless to forward to my guarantor... “just a heads up that’s probably not going to happen.” Very shady, clearly illegal stuff here. AVOID.
This was my first time apartment searching and I was lucky to have Joseph helping me out. He drove me to see several apartments throughout Prospect Lefferts Garden and Flatbush and was super helpful through it all. He was quick to reply and helped schedule a convenient lease signing time with Israel at their office. Couldnt have asked for a more convenient service, much appreciated.
Cherna found me an incredible apartment in Brooklyn that I never would have heard about just by looking at listings online. Its my dream place, Im so happy I searched with Brick and Galo--theyre well connected and have great relationships with landlords, so know about new listings early on.
I had a fantastic experience with my realtor Israel. My very specific set of guidelines for my ideal apartment were met and he didnt mess around showing me things I wouldnt want. Highly recommend Brick and Galo, they are no nonsense and super helpful. Definitely worth using.
I was still in Pittsburgh when I was looking for my apartment. Izzy Pruss hooked me up with an amazing affordable one bedroom in a safe quiet part of town. He helped me navigate the whole process, did video tours with me, and always responded to my messages/calls and answered every question I had. He even checked in with me after I moved in. If I ever leave this apartment, I’ll be using him again!
My experience with Brick & Galo was very, very professional. Israel was very courteous and responded to my questions and inquiry in a timely manner. I will definitely recommend Brick & Galo to anyone seeking an apartment. It was a pleasure working with Israel.Thank you Brick & Galo!!!
Joseph @ Brick and Galo is the best agent Ive worked with. Ever. Hes extremely professional, prompt, and even empathetic. He helped my family and I find an ideal apartment, helped us through a couple hurdles with securing the apartment. all in a timely and courteous manner. Hes friendly, he listens, he returns calls and texts. Seriously, the experience could not have been better.
Brick and Galo, is a great firm! I was referred to them , specifically Joseph Golowinski, by a friend who highly recommended him and I feel the same. Professional, dedicated, basically the first to know about/find the best apartments within a budget, affable, and Incredibly responsive. Joseph is a great realtor and I’d recommend him to anyone looking to rent apartments, especially apartments around Prospect Park.
Shaina was EXTREMELY helpful in our hunt for a new home. We knew immediately after she showed us the apartment that we wanted it and she helped us out that night putting a deposit down to secure the property while we gathered together our applications. She was very responsive via email, text and over the phone. She answered our late phone calls with questions regarding the application and was able to work with mine and my roommates clashing schedules. I would definitely recommend Brick and Galo - especially Shaina - to anyone looking for a new home in New York.
DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS COMPANY! Independently speaking Izzy was my agent. He was nice enough....I even reffered people to him. HOWEVER, He bragged to me that he has a close relationship with the land lords in the area and that its the reason he is able to find apartments for his clients at a reasonable price. Well, now I know why! This company teams up with slumlords that will make your life a living HELL! While living in my unit I had TWO BEDBUG INFESTATIONS 2 years in a row! I tried to reach out to Izzy for help, to maybe have the the bulidings management rectify the situation. He said there was nothing he could do for me.There was chronic leaks both in my kitchen and bathroom FOR 3 YEARS and they were never properly addressed. My bathroom had mold growing on the ceiling from the leaks. Their solutions to rectify that situation? They just painted over it. At one point my kitchen ceiling leak was so bad that the ceiling was caving in and erroding. Upon move-in, my apartment was nowhere near ready, the toilet wasnt working, the kitchen was halfway built and the ceiling fan was basically falling only supported my one cable. Wanna know how it was fixed? They just put a bunch of duck tape around it. They never fixed it and I lived there for 4 years. That building had constant theft, burglaries, people defeating and urinating in both the elevator and entry, lack of security, the elevators always broke and trapped people. At one point a lady had to be rushed to the hospital she suffered a major heart incident from the awful elevator debacle.Needless to say I think their company and slumlords team up to get as much out of peoples wallet for abismol living conditions. I lost over $2000+ worth of damages. I was never reimbursed by my slumlord and their management company.Rent from these people and you will be sorry. I know I was. Run away, there are better broker companies with more integrity and with better buildings.
I dont even know where to begin, but Josh at Brick and Galo found us the perfect place. It was a great experience and recommend him to all our friends on the apartment hunt. He was so generous, helpful and understanding as we navigated finding the right spot in such a quick turnaround. Our favorite place weve lived - cozy, quiet, the transit we need and right within our budget. Thank you, thank you to Josh & Brick and Galo! : D
Joesph is hands down the best agent I’ve ever worked with! He was always communicative, professional, easy to work with and friendly. I fell in love with the first apartment he showed me, which he then went out of his way to show my boyfriend on a different day to due to our hectic schedules. We have now settled in to that apartment and could couldn’t be happier. Joseph consistently went above and beyond. We will definitely recommend him to everyone we know.
My girlfriend and I were looking for an apartment after subletting for several years and working as freelancers. That can be something that easily causes complications when getting approved. We were very lucky to connect with our broker Mitch Barber and Brick and Galo. Never felt like I was getting taken advantage of and was genuinely thankful to have connected with them. I honestly have no idea how we would have pulled it off without Mitch and Brick and Galo. Very happy and will definitely suggest them to friends looking in the area.
Izzy is wonderful. He showed me places that werent yet listed, and when the place I wanted was initially snatched up, he took an evening to take me to several spots that were in the exact ballpark of what I was looking for. When I put down my deposit and signed for a place, he was extremely good at communicating my needs with the management, and Im so happy with how everything worked out. Thanks Izzy!
Brick & Galo went above and beyond to help us find an apartment. When we lost the place we wanted because we couldnt act quickly enough, their fab realtor Josh helped us find a place in the same building, before it even went on the market. Because they are exclusive realtors for different buildings and have great relationships with them, we ended up with a brand-new gut renovated apartment in the building we wanted! Josh even texted us photos and updates as the apartment reno was finishing up, before we moved in.
I honestly did not have a very good experience with this company. I dealt with an agent (Mendel P) who was very polite, however he made me wait outside for an hour while he was with another client after confirming prior to the actual viewing time. Being that I have a city program I feel very very discriminated against because he told me false information and told me not to contact him again unless I have a guarantor, which you can not have when you have a program!
Do not ignore the negative reviews! I did, and I got screwed. This is an incredibly dishonest company. They do not clearly disclose necessary information, and then say “well I assumed you knew”. So unprofessional, they have hidden fees and are scammers. I lost money because of them and they illegally charge $95 for application fees! No apartment they are handling is worth it, STEER CLEAR FROM BRICK AND GALO. THEY ARE SCAMMERS.
These people were showing an apartment on Street Easy. We scheduled a viewing, and then two hours before the realtor told us we couldn’t see it because they wanted to rent it sooner. I had already taken time off work, & was hoping to at least build a relationship with these people. Guess I’ll be finding someone else.
To be totally honest, I am disgusted and traumatized by my experience with this company over the last six months. Let me chronicle the highlights of my experience renting in 2121 Beekman Place through Brick and Galo.1. Security:The day I moved in, a lock that had been on the front door when the apartment was shown had been removed, a lit candle was burning in the living room and a burnt stick of incense was hanging from a bracket where a smoke detector had been, and another smoke detector (the only in the apartment) was non-operative with the battery removed. There was also a box of leftover chicken was in the refrigerator, leaking red, sticky fluid. When I moved in, I was also informed by a neighbor in the building that individuals had hung drapes over the windows and been squatting in the apartment prior to our move-in. This seemed to be confirmed when two individuals that night knocked on the door, wanting to come in and apparently believing it to still be a vacant meeting place, until the current tenant opened the door. (Our suspicion is that it was being used as a place to meet and smoke weed, which would explain the disabled fire alarm, incense and scented candle.)Management and the broker responded late and incompletely to these concerns, particularly the lock. They said that because there was one lock, on the door, it was safe (never mind the 2 hold in our front door).2. Water DamageThe reason we ultimately broke our lease and moved out was significant water damage in our bedroom, which made us fearful for our health and safety.A large water stain began spreading from the ceiling of the bedroom to the floor across an approximately 4-wide stretch of wall. The water damage was severe enough that the paint began to bubble and the plaster molding buckled and cracked, dropping paint and plaster into the room.A black spot that may be mold is also apparent on the water stained wall. The super could not be contacted on the Friday when the water spot was identified or during the weekend. The tenants called the management office on Monday morning when they opened and management said they would send someone by to look at the issue, but no time was set and no one came to look at the issue that day.No repair work was done for two weeks, until Friday, Sept. 27. A worker came and stripped the paint from the wall, revealing a large patch of black mold. No remediation was done to address the mold and *the wall was immediately plastered over*. The wall was subsequently painted over the following Monday.3. TransparencyFinally, there is a STUNNING lack of communication, forthrightness, and transparency with this company. They will have you believe that the brokers operate independently of the management company and the landlord. This is not the case. Our lease was signed by our broker, Moshe Botnick. That means that our lease is not legally binding UNLESS he is employed by the management company. I have a lot of disdain for these jokers, but I dont think theyd be that reckless. Which means that Brick & Galo is tied in some way to the management company. What is the name of the management company, you might ask?We have gathered it is called M&I Management, but we do not know, because when we have asked, we have been told repeatedly It doesnt matter, or its just management. When you call the number they give you, the automatic voicemail says Youve reached the management office. And any mail we receive from management is simply addressed as management. This has been a six month hell for our family, and I am thankful to be free of it. We overlooked some red flags at the beginning, and we will never do that again. Please learn from our mistakes. Do not give these people your money, and take advantage of resources like who owns what to learn the true state of your building: whoownswhat.justfix.nyc
Mendel Paltiel was a guy helped me found a great apat. I found him really helpful and responsive. He showed me many apartment until I found the one I was looking for. I really love the experience hunting my apat with him. He dont get tired showing you more and more apartments unless you get the one you looking for. I would like to take my time to thank him for his time and help. Definetely gonna recommend him to my friends & family.
Avoid these people at all costs, because of them I am in court trying to get my security deposit returned from some crooks in Brooklyn called 24 St. Nicholas Place LLC.. It was literally a nightmare come true. THEY RENTED ME AN APARTMENT IN NYC WITH NO HEAT!!! They lied and told me there was heat. Both heat and hot water are obviously required by New York City law, stay far away from both if you value your health and peace of mind. I would not recommend you have dealings with these people, please also tell you friends to stay away!
Was looking for an apartment for two years with no luck found a unit I liked texted the number listed was able to see it 40 minutes later saw it for a second time the next day I got my keys that Friday josh was polite, knowledgeable and worked fast love my new place cant wait to get settled
Walked in then immediately walked out. Received a bunch of Stares and no one greeted me. They were looking at me strange like people of color don’t walk into establishments in Brooklyn. I also received a bunch of eye rolls from people sitting at the desks. Not a good way to start business especially from someone like me who’s father owns million dollar real estate in manhattan. I will be sure to spread the word of my experience here :) not like this establishment is well known in nyc anyway..

2022-01-17Getting a new apartment in Brooklyn is no easy process. Luckily, we had the help of Josh Palace. Josh was so helpful and supportive throughout the entire process, and gave us a lot confidence moving forward. He clearly communicated every step along the way, quickly responded to our questions, and I felt like we were a team working towards getting the apartment we really wanted. His transparency and advocacy were second to none. After signing the lease with Landlord (who was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met) Josh continued checking in with me, and filled me in on what building manager was repairing/checking before move in. I knew I was moving into a safe, clean new home. Thanks Josh for helping us get our gorgeous new apartment. We look forward to being there for many many years to come!

2022-01-17Josh was quick to respond to my initial inquiry and very helpful with questions. We were able to set up a showing the very next day. We acted quickly and secured the apartment right away! (He didn’t push us to make that decision but this is nyc real estate you have to act quickly!)He continued to be very helpful throughout the lease signing process. Would definitely work with them again. Highly recommend. Not money hungry like other brokers I encountered. Super good guy.

We finally found Josh and he was amazing in getting everything done in a timely manner and making sure that we had everything we needed. Josh made this process much easier. Plus, he’s an overall friendly and honest person. We’ll always be grateful for him! We moved into our apartment yesterday and we love it.

2022-06-09Its an extremely difficult time to find an apartment right now. Thankfully I worked with Josh Palace and found a wonderful apartment in my price range. I also met Cherna at another listing. Both were super nice and professional. It took me 2 days to find a place when I thought it would take me weeks!

2022-06-10My girlfriend and I agree, Josh is easily the best broker we’ve dealt with in New York. Great communication, the responses were always quick, proactive on making sure we had the correct documents, really friendly and personable, just overall pleasant to work with.If you’ve dealt with brokers in NYC, you know that describing them as “unhelpful” is a generous statement. Happy to say that couldn’t be further from the truth working with Josh

2022-05-13Izzy, Israel and the other folks at Brick and Galo Realty were some of kindest people in the industry. They were professional, patient, responsive, and transparent. I felt like they took my needs and concerns into account and they walked me through the rental process with grace during a pretty stressful and tough market. I highly recommend Brick and Galo Realty!Thank you all so much and a special thanks to Izzy for talking about the origins of Friday the 13th!

Israel was very warm and professional also—and they both were patient with us when explaining the paperwork that took my tired eyes a second to understand. Would definitely recommend!
