Terrible experiences in a store I’ve spent a good deal of money at. The staff is not helpful and everyone is working with a different set of policies. Like once had a clog, I bought a bunch of products, including a snake that I told them I was unlikely to use. I was assured I could return anything that was completely unused in original packaging. When I came back days later to make other purchases i mentioned that i solved the issue, just need to bring back that snake I thankfully didn’t need. The guy behind the counter looked at me like I was nuts and said WE NEVER RETURN those. I said the staff the other day assured me that if I didn’t need it I could bring it back, he said they should have not told you that,.I never brought it back, I’ll be throwing it away. I’ve bought the wrong thing, with the advice of staff up-selling, then had to dump in the past.Some nice people have worked there, been shopping there for 5 years, but their training is very inconsistent, and really frustrating for customers who would prefer to shop local.Sadly, Amazon became my go-to for most things after a number of unpleasant interactions

Surprisingly well stocked for a small store. They’ve had all kinds of random stuff I’ve needed. Staff has been helpful and nice, not all of them but most of them

No helpful people working In this store. I asked a question about item website said was at H Brickman & Sons store and got really chewed out by one of the store employees. When I said I didnt deserve that, he verbally abused me again. All quite unnecessary nasty treatment of a customer. No point in ever giving this overpriced store any business even if you are desperate . Make the trip over to Home Depot..

Bought the most common color paint in the store to repaint furniture. The paint cost more than buying new furniture. Could not return an unused, unopened bucket of the most common white paint color. Terrible return policy, stay away.

This store has nearly everything and the staff are always super helpful and friendly. If you dont see it, just ask and someone will walk you straight to the item. Definitely worth the few extra cents to have attention and courtesy that the Depot/Lowes stores never seem to provide.

Went to this Ace hardware 12 27 to purchase 2 front covers for a double plug 110v outlet. The staff was unclear of what I was looking for. I did not go down the isle to look at what was available as I had a wagon with over $200 of tools in tow (middle of a job). It tooka 3 tries for the staff to find what I had asked for. I repeated 2 front covers for a double plug 110v outlet in cream color. The ?manager shannon insisted that I leave the tools and the wagon at the fron register, but I refused as I was not willing to trust staff with that value in tools. I complained to shannon that the staff could have done better at identifying the correct item, and she said I should have gone down the isle to look. I said there are 2 other hardware stores within a few blocks of Ace, Town and Village around 19th and first, and HnH on first between 14th and 13th. BOTH have been much more helpful than Ace was on this occaision. Makes me want to shop elseware next time.

Friendly and helpful staff - answered my questions about staining a table and helped pick it proper products to use. Turned out great. I find someones elses review of would not exchange lightbulbs without a receipt ludacris.

Hardware, paint, home goods, cleaning supplies. Downstairs they have curtain rods, bird seed, more hardware, a few lamps, and those pushchairs that look like rolling cages. Staff will answer questions and be fairly helpful if youre friendly. Depending on your destination, and how busy they are, they may deliver, but this isnt a service that they offer across the board. Also ask about new neighbor discount, and discount for residents of StuyTown and Peter Cooper Village.

Much rather shop here than the big box places. They understand the neighborhood and are familiar with the kinds of buildings, apartments and our needs, and carry almost everything, or know where you can find it.
