We sat out on the patio. We were there to celebrate one of my good friends birthday. There was a live dj, he was actually packing up to leave, when we arrived. The music was ok. The rum punch was good. The food took long to come. I had popcorn shrimp first. They were over Cooked. More better than shrimp. I then order the garlic mussels, also over cooked. The other ladies at the table. Decided to have the Mac and cheese, which came in a small tin pan. Over cooked. The food was overall not good. The kitchen is very small. They were not able to take care the amount of people there that night. One of our party members arrived late and was told by the waitress that the kitchen was not taking orders at that moment. Not a great experience. No I would not go back. On my way out there was a nice crowd at the bar. So just go for the drinks!!!!!
We were a bit apprehensive about going because of the reviews, but Im so glad we did. The food was great, the service was amazing and the ambiance was smooth. We went on a Friday night @ about 8:30 pm, there werent that many people there. This may have played a part in our experience, none the less, we enjoyed ourselves.
I’m not sure if it’s a New York thing or what, but the customer service was NOT IT. the place is a vibe and is cute, the food took toooooo long to come out, I feel like our server forgot to put it in. My food was cold. The drink she made me was really good, but she never checked on us after to see if we needed another or anything else. I had to get her after an HOUR of us sitting there waiting on our food.
I will say if you dont care about service. The food is out of this world. Its unfortunate because I hate giving these type of reviews. But we made a reservation over a week In advance, it was confirmed, yet when we got there, they told us they saw it but didnt think we were coming... we then had to wait over 30 minutes to find out they were putting us in the back with no heat, freezing cold. Thankfully they moved us. But getting pur food order and food was inconsistent. They were kind and patient, but we did reserve way in advance, should have had a table ready for us. If everyone wasnt already there in our party we would unfortunately have gone somewhere else. We will be going back and try again one day, We get things are tough these days. But definitely need to take this as a heads up if youre a large party.
I was invited for a brunch and boy am I glad I came. My husband ordered the red velvet pancakes and he enjoyed it thoroughly. I had the steak and eggs, I was a bit annoyed because the steak was cut into small pieces and smothered with a sauce i didnt like. The eggs were perfect as were the mac and cheese balls and the Rum punch! I had to order a bottle to take home with me!The hostess and wait staff were very nice and accommodating.
I would never revisit this place. My friend and I were in the middle of dining. My friend was waiting on a couple drinks to come, and I was waiting on more food. The manager approaches our table basically telling us we have to move to the bar. I informed her that we weren’t finished eating, she didn’t care. She insisted on us moving. Never in my life have I experienced anything like that. From what we heard, the manager often does things like that. I don’t see them being in business for long treating paying customers like that.*Response to owner*As stated in my initial review, we were NOT finished dining. We were waiting for more food and drinks when we were approached. Nor had we been there longer than 1:45. I canceled the food that was on the way because I was so disgusted at the ridiculous request. It’s okay, I’ll never be there again. Don’t have to worry about me. Good luck.
First time at Brooklyn Beso on a first date on a Sunday evening... and absolutely loved it, both the date and the restaurant lol. Really cool staff, great music, very nice romantic and chill space. You might have to remind the waiter if things get a little busy on thier end, but its def not a problem esp since they are theyre super nice about it. Had a lovely time. 100% would recommend and love getting to support my Caribbean people.
Dinner and wait staff were great. However, be warned it’s one of those restaurants where you have to literally YELL to hear your dining companion. The music was way way too loud and I was constantly competing to hear my date. Felt like Beso couldn’t decide if they’re running a nightclub or a restaurant. I’d return but the only thing preventing me from is the volume of the music. Definitely the loudest restaurant I’ve been to in a while… awful ambience
I came to this restaurant because it looked nice on tiktok for a day with your girls. When we arrived we were not greeted at the door. All the staff were too focused on the Trivia game taking place in the front. As we were in middle of our lunch we were asked to move tables, which meant picking up all of our cups, plates etc. The set up in the back is benches that were unevenly set & mini square tables.I ordered the mini crab cakes and the por boy sandwich. The crab cakes had actual pieces of the crab SHELL in it !!! I could have choked while eating my food , it was clear that the food was not cleaned. The por boy sandwich is advertised with sauce. It came with absolutely no sauce and the piece of fish was humongous! We asked the waiter for a sauce other than ketchup, waiter stated they did not have Mayo , Tatar , hot sauce or anything other than ketchup and when we asked for the guava BBQ sauce that comes on wings, waiter said they do not give out the bbq sauce on the side, absolutely ridiculous!!! The size of the rum punch drinks are so tiny! The service was slow, many times we had to get up and find the waiter. Literally the only good thing I have to say about this place is that the wings were good.I would never go back here and would never recommend it to anyone.
This place is a wonderful Caribbean experience. The eucalyptus was definitely in the air. The back yard garden dining is eclectic and fun. It allowed me to pretend I was dining in the tropics minus the sand and with added air conditioning (lol).Their rum punch is good. Not too sweet, not too tart and with just the right amount of rum. The customer service was pleasant and the vibes were everything.I had the snapper filet w/ black rice and plantains, with a side order of Brussel sprouts. #Yummy every thing was well seasoned and tasty. I would most certainly come back. I think this business is Black owned (as it appeared to be), but I cannot confirm as I forgot to inquire. There is outdoor dining, seating in the covered backyard garden and indoor dining. Staff wears face coverings and gloves and kitchen staff wears fave coverings and head coverings as well.
I loved it so much I said I want to go back tomorrow. Caribbean inspired food. Got the Seafood pasta and the jerk chicken plate… omg!!! To die for ! Rum punch home made us absolutely amazing. The staff is so nice too. There was a dj that night and the music was sooooo good. Want to go back asap !
So disappointing. Service is really bad. When we got there, there was just one other table, and they were looking around for the waitress looking annoyed too. Food needed seasoning, which is embarrassing. You got some midwestern wife cooking back there? My fish sandwich was way overcooked and tasted like rubber. Lobster in the mac n cheese was also over cooked and not fresh. How is this place still in business?
Been to this restaurant 5 times and valentines night omg I was extremely satisfied. The menu was exceptional and it had the beyonce seafood platter and island rubbed steak . omg best seasoned steak Ive ever had as well as the mash potatoes . Beso restaurant service has stepped up from 2 to 9 . great staff , friendly pregnant lady and the twins hmm go beyond in ensuring we were given excellent service . ill be back as usual for brunche cant wait to have the shrimps and grits with that secret sauce .Guys the beyonce seafood platter is packed with flavors . best restaurant in Brooklyn to offer rib eye steak and seafood . best rated number 1.Thanks Beso thanks again for makin me and bae valentines a special one . sad but this is our kitchen away from home . we are in love with the vibes
Crew was nice but the red velvet waffles was disgusting and dry tasted like food coloring also they literally told us that they can’t make steak medium I don’t know how that is possible this forced my gf to order something she didn’t want when she got the kale salad it was dry she had to request dressing what restaurant you go to gives you no salad dressing with the salad the only saving grace was the drinks highly doubt I’ll ever return.
Hosted a company event in the back dining area/backyard and went beyond expectations. Arrived to event with with area nicely decorated and sectioned off for us, with fresh food consistently brought out. Managers Al and Stephan went the extra mile to make us happy, would recommend for others!
The best spot in Brooklyn. I love the atmosphere, the staff are so considerate and really nice. The music is always on point. Its a place I feel like home with amazing food. Always recommending this place to eveyone. Definitely try the tacos especially for the first experience.
Nearly none of the staff members were following covid protocols. All waiters that attended to us were maskless — a first for any restaurant ive been to in BK! Additionally, the food was overpriced, the portions were small, and too many items were served in plastic containers or foil.. Overall, the experience was disappointing & they should keep their customers safe above all.
The food and experience was absolutely terrible! We had a party of 8 last night and the manager wouldnt accommodate us by turning on the heat in the other side of the restaurant so we can have a much more comfortable seating but instead they had us cramped in a small table by the door and the table was above a underground grate! Without any communication from the manager that half the menu wasnt available, but our water was not at all experienced. My gf ordered the regular nachos and after almost an hour of waiting, everyones food came and the afomentioned nachos but it had crab meat in it.... My gf is ALLERGIC to seafood!! Good thing I took a bite and noticed before she did. I was already livid by this point, I ordered the organic chicken with BBQ and a bottle of water, I never got my water .... and my manager was dry and drowned in JERK sauce. I told the waiter take this back I lost my appetite I dont want it, my gf also ordered the Mac and cheese and it tasted disgusting. I would rate this place a -5/5 because the ambience, food and whole vibe of the restaurant was garbage and I will never go back.
Great for a lively afternoon! The rum punch is great. They have a nice selection at the bar. The music was diverse and enjoyable and definitely loud! No room for intimate brunch conversation. When we were there they had a couple of parties going in their back room. There were at least 20 people and they had room for picture taking, dancing and even a soul train line...I was seriously considering crashing..:-) They also have some outdoor seating.Bathroom is spotless and hand sanitizer dispenser on the wall for your convenience. Now about the food. I have only been there once so I have not sampled a lot of the food. I had the shrimp and grits. The food was made well but I would have liked a little more flavor in the sauce. My friends seemed to really like the Mac & cheese. It comes in individual tins and you can get different types. Jerk seemed to be the flavor of choice at our table. All that being said yes I highly recommend you grab a friend or 10 and try Brooklyn Beso.... dont forget to make a reservation and enjoy!!!
Omgggg besssooooo the best wings in all of NYC ever... I have been to beso so many times and mennnn its always better n better... good food pleasant people great ambience and let me just say the best, go spend your birthday parties, there, organise anything and everything at beso Brooklyn
My bf and I just left this place; Wednesday January 15 2020 at 7:48pm, and had to walk to another restaurant a block away. When we walked in we realized that there was only 1, I repeat, 1 person working the floor. She had to play bartender, server, waiter... the whole shebang, except having to be the cook. Even though she was very sweet, and obviously busy, after waiting to be seated, we sat in our seats for over 10 minutes without our drink orders even being taken. The food looked great as it was coming out, but when she finally made it to our area, she went to take a group of 4s order *which makes sense, since they were there first..... for over 10 minutes before we got there (we asked) This review is for the owner/manager, you cannot justifiably have only 1 person working the floor, even if it is the middle of the week in January. It got pretty busy in this restaurant really quick. Its unfair to your employees, as well as your (potential) customers.
Very unprofessional. Received the wrong order (ordered shrimp Mac) after waiting an hour to receive food. Was also guaranteed a solution to fix it and they never fixed it. Save yourself the trouble and purchase at an establishment that cares, the staff member by the name of Tracey made it apparent that she did not care please avoid if you can
Me and a friend went for lunch and left grossly disappointed! A couple came in after us, sat at the table next to us, ordered, ate, and we were still waiting for our food to arrive. We waited over AN HOUR for our food, and when it finally arrived it wasn’t fresh at all. Our waitress didn’t check in at all either. The fries were cold. The pulled chicken was dry. The red velvet waffles (which were $22!!) were overcooked, almost rock hard. I forced myself to eat some of it because at this point I was STARVING. Despite the egregious wait time, the owner refused to reimburse for or replace the overcooked waffles because I ate some of it. There was no display of good faith, not even an offer to discount the meal. The owner was also VERY rude. One positive was that the atmosphere was nice and so was the music. Don’t bother spending your coins here! Go to Peaches down the street ;)! They’ll take care of you! Never patronizing this establishment again! You shouldn’t either...
Weve been big fans Beso since opening. We have even used their facilities for family celebrations on three occasions with great success. They are a solid establishment that brings value and benefit to the community in the form of good flavors and good times (could be a slogan 😉.) Highly recommended.
We had a brunch reservation for party of almost 20 people. The waitress provided us with the regular menu instead of the prefix menu. So we ended up paying more than we planned to. The waitress didn’t give most of the guest Mamosas. In the end we spoke to the manager and the manager was able to negotiate with us. The manager was understanding in the whole situation. The food was okay, some of our food was over cooked. They had good music. The drinks was not bad, but the frozen pina colada had a bad after taste. I believe this restaurant is a unorganized, the waiters need training on how to approach different situations and how to first greet guests.
Place is dope! Food is dope! I came here on a date and I like the space. I ordered some wings, Mac and cheese and a Froze it came in this ancient cup it was so different. I was surprised it came in that cup and it tasted gooood! The alcohol content of the froze was great! Enough to give me a buzz and wanting some more.I must say they take quite some time to give you your food. We came in on a Monday to eat. They are open from 8a-12am everyday I believe. Which means at some point they serve breakfast! Which is a great addition. Although they have a great amount of space the seating area is small. They have high and low chairs along with bench like seating. They have a front area that needs a little bit more TLC to attract more people to want to dine there. Inside in the back, they also have a private section in the back that can be closed off by doors. The doors were removed as of recently and decorations bare in place to give it a more divided feeling Im assuming. It was my 2nd time back.It was only 1 girl on staff waitressing everyone at the time. No one had food when we came in and we waited almost an hour to get the food. We alerted the waitress that we needed some quick meals and she attempted to get that expedited as fast as possible which was appreciated. But, the kitchen still took a while and we were on the brink of leaving because I was going to end up being late for work. The establishment can do a better job of expediting the food faster. All we ordered was finger food. They were people seated before us that got up and left because they were waiting too long and another table that wasnt served yet.Once they get more staff and expedite the food better along with fixing their high rocky chairs they should be good. The high chairs didnt have a foot stool on it to catch my feet while I was sitting and the table was rocky. You need foot support if ur feet gonna be hanging off like that and back support and butt support on the chairs. It starts to become uncomfortable after a while. We had to grab the rest of the food to go.
As an individual working in the service industry this was a horrible experience for sure. Sat for about 15 minutes ready to order with no indication of who my server was. Stated that I was ready to order and I was suddenly treated as an inconvenience. Also the manager (maybe owner) had the worst customer service of all. Its clear where the staff is learning it from. My friends and I were extremely excited to try the place and its a shame that we didnt enjoy any of the experience. Besides the bartender 5 starts for her!!!
My girlfriend and I were so excited to try this place because we heard all about their happy hour on TikTok and IG. We arrive and are sat in the back corner. Then it took about 10-15 minutes for the bartender to come back for our order. I asked about the happy hour and he said there was none but the rum punch was $10. Funny because their website listed happy hour times and their IG listed $7 happy hour drinks. We ordered a bottle alcoholic limeade and a rum punch. The drinks took about 20 minutes to hit the table. When we tasted them it tasted like koolaid with Wray and nephew overproof rum poured on top. Next our food arrived. The jerk chicken pasta was bland and cold. The fish tacos I ordered had soggy breading and tasted a little too fishy as if it was bad. We were so disappointed and just decided to finish our drinks and leave the food behind. When we asked for the check, the waitress just came over and put the card machine in front of us. She didn’t introduce herself (as she wasn’t the person who took our order), saw our plates with one bite missing from each dish and took the payment and walked off in silence. No inquiry as to what happened with our food or if we enjoyed or even a goodbye. Now extremely annoyed, we left the establishment to walk to Peaches down the street. As we exit, the bartender who originally took our orders(and never came back) RAN AFTER US ASKING IF WE PAID OUR BILL. How disgusting and rude. He didn’t ever check on us after placing the order and didn’t even ask the waitress if we paid first, he just ASSUMED we walked out. I wonder if it’s because he knew we hated our experience and no one did anything about it. We try to support black owned businesses all the time but I have to say, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. You WILL be disappointed and probably offended. As the AGM of a Michelin run restaurant, I can say with confidence that this place had some of the worst service I have ever received.
Horrible food. Spent nearly $60 dollars on trash. The lobster roll was the worse roll I’ve ever had. The bread tasted dull and funky. The lobster also had a weird taste to it. The Mac n cheese is absolutely NOTHING like the way they portray it on their Instagram page. It’s dry. And they don’t offer refunds because they know their food will be returned each time. 0/10.
Had a really good time..food was delicious ( chicken and red waffles) and Rum punch was popping! My only complaint was it felt rushed...the waitress kept asking if we were done or wanted to go boxes. Our conversation continued to be intrupted as we ate (it was NOT closing time). Then she finally came back and said well, I need to close yall bill out cause my shift ends soon. That was very rude. There should be a way to transfer over shifts without rushing a customers experience. However, I would definitely go back. Everything else was perfect!
Comically bad lunch experience. Clearly something was wrong in the kitchen today. But it took us half an hour to get a limeade and a coke. Then, the wait for food began. Finally, my burger was brought out around an hour after we ordered. We then waited 15 additional minutes for the crab nachos my partner ordered — an appetizer dish. When the bill came and I asked to speak to a manager, I was told “They’re not in today.” 😂😂 Also, burger was dry and tasted off, I ate half. Fries were fine. Crab Nachos were burnt and barely edible. There’s photo evidence of the “nachos”. Will certainly never eat here again.
What a pleasant surprise. At first I was a put off my the demeanor of the cashier/cook. However, my lox and cream cheese with capers more than made up for it. The food was delicious and left me wanting more. I was impressed that she could make that and the waffles with bacon that my friend ordered using the little prep/cooking station. This is on my list of places to visit when I return to Brooklyn.
I have tried ordering delivery from this restaurant 4 times. Each time my order was incorrect. Considering the pandemic and the world adjusting to the new way of doing things I really wanted to be fair. However each order I placed was a minimum of $85. Each time it was either an entire order missing, or my order was incorrect. One would think when spending $85 for take out that customer service would for sure be on point. Unfortunately, not at Beso! To make matters worse, in order to get a refund a staff member had to call the manager at home and I had to wait for the manager to call me back. Of course the manager never called me, and I had to keep calling the restaurant. The restaurant didnt even offer the option to have someone re-deliver the missing or incorrect items. The restaurant really should discontinue offering delivery service. Maybe the staff and management would do a lot better if they only had to worry about customers dining in.
This is the second time my family held an event at this restaurant. I came from Virginia Beach to hold an event there and I was once again disappointed. I understand about Covid-19 and the safety protocol. The food was fine. The drinks were mediocre.. I had ask for water several times. The service and food on this visit was a little better than the first but my family and I came to unanimous decision not to support or recommend this business.I was surprised that the service charge, tip and taxes was more than the actual bill.I am a woman of color and I wanted to support a black-owned business but not at the expense of Covid-19 and the impact it has on the business industry.
I wanted to love this place soo much! But unfortunately it just wasnt it.3 stars are strictly for the food.Firstly, I called to make sure they were open because there was conflicting times listed online, however, at 12:49pm I was informed that they were open. I arrived at about 1:15ish. Nonetheless, when we arrived we were immediately informed that we could only choose from the cafe menu as there was a staff meeting happing in the back garden. (This sucked because we previously reviewed the menu, knew what we would order and OF COURSE I WANTED TO EAT IN THE GARDEN!)After looking over the cafe menu, I was happy they had pescetarian options and decided to stay as we were already there also. The order process: we ordered while standing at the bar and paid for the food immediately after ordering. A bartender then appeared and made our drinks. After getting our drinks, I then had to ask if we seat ourselves. The bartender then asked if we minded sitting in the back and took us to our table.I ordered the Lobster and Grits ($25) and Hennessy Kiss ($15)Boyfriend ordered the barbecue chicken sandwich ($16)and Hennessy Kiss ($15)The food: THE FOOD CAME IN TO-GO CONTAINERS!I didnt expect this especially because we were sitting at a table (with intentions on staying). The food otherwise was pretty decent. I did add salt to my lobster and grits. Also the happy hour I had seen advertised on Tik Tok...wasnt advertised at the location.$80+ later...I wasnt too impressed Brooklyn Beso
This restaurant is a ripoff. Just placed an order..30 min. later my order was cancelled with no explanation. Charged my card for the order anyway. Now Im standing in front of restaurant and its closed.. Dont support this business, they are thieves!!! I am definitely reporting them and theyre shady business practices
The two stars is being generous. First, we were told to seat ourselves in the backyard area. Then the host said go to the far back, where it wasnt well kept. The balcony door frames had peeling paint, among other small maintenance issues. Their scan menu and the online Seated app menus were not accessible. So I used a regular search engine to access their website menu. The cook and the host WERE NOT knowledgeable of their menu, nor was every item available. The host tried to charge me more than the listed menu prices and did not initially give me my correct change), but he made an adjustment to my order. We stayed...yet the terrible customer service continued. The cook tried to serve us at the table with to-go boxes with his greasy fingerprints all over them. After I corrected him, the host brought us our food. The food was okay, though I question techniques used (theory: they put sugar in their grits!?!)A potentially good experience ruined by multiple displays of laziness.#TOOMUCHSUGACANRUINABUSINESS
Brooklyn Beso has terrible service. I do not recommend them for brunch. We were the first seated table in the establishment and it took almost an hour to be served basic breakfast items! Mind blowing that we walked in during brunch hours and they don’t serve coffee. The menu looks interesting but the food is very underwhelming. We were a party of 4, and each of us ordered a different entree off the menu. no one enjoyed there meals.Everyone’s meal came out of the kitchen at separate times. The waitress was courteous about the delay but she also had to double as our bartender.Another note is the music was so loud that we couldn’t even speak to each other across the table. We asked 3 times for them to turn the music down during the 1.5 hours we were there. The excuse was the DJ was setting up for an event in the afternoon. Maybe he should have been set up before opening the doors to your regular customers.
Walked in and there was no one to seat us so the bartender had to seat us. There was maybe one server working so our service was slow the entire time were there and it seemed like he had no idea what he was doing. Never gave us napkins or utensils when we finally got our food until we had to ask. The worst part was probably the portions. They are small and way overpriced. I’ve paid $9 for Mac and cheese but not when there’s only four bites worth. And $9 for 5 wings...what?! The food was good but definitely not worth charging that amount for the little food they give you.I am giving it one star bc the bartender was cool and friendly and maybe it’s only worth it to grab a drink there
Horrible establishment i have been here twice and same nonesense. slow service, bad food and the second time i came only and sat outside, ordered waiting for my food and drink after the wait it came nothing to be excited by well 25 mins in a party of 8 needed a place to sit and they had the audacity to ask me if i wanted to move inside to make space for the party of 6 because i was alone. So audacious!!! Never going back.
If you are looking for a cafe vibe , this is your place. You have to order your food at the counter. They need run their business as a cafe or restaurant/lounge not all three. The wait for the food is ridiculous for subpar food . The customer service is eh. The prices that they charge and bad service does not match. If you are a large group, I do not recommend.
Honest review: Okay, it’s 618 pm June 24, 2020 3rd day of phase 2. Ordered the bacalao meal, macaroni and cheese w/lobster. I paid and tipped upfront prior to being served order total was about $80.00. Issue #1 There is no Lobster, why would you charge me for something you don’t have? Issue #2 a couple that arrives 30 minutes after us gets their food 1st, #3 Apparently the lady at the register never took my order down, possibly because she was too busy being impatient. Easily my worst restaurant experience.
Ok This placed looked different from the picture a little the food was good when it finally came. The Mac and cheese was on point and the black rice with bacalao, even the music was great, But you had to take a picture of the menu on the wall there was no actual hand menu, then write what you want on a peace of paper then take it up to the front to place your order, limited choice for drinks. That was a bit much
The service of this place wasnt that great today. They had a waiter serving all the guests in the restaurant on his own, and the bar tender took ages to make the drinks that my party and I had asked for. The food was great, but the service, specifically that of the bar tender, could have been better. Other than that, no other complaints!
I have mixed feelings about this place. I know tapas are small plates but they were ridiculously small and a little expensive. The service is bad, we waited 20 minutes for someone to take an order as she was taking people who came after us orders. We were not told there was a happy hour, but the people next to us were told, once we ordered drinks it took another 20 minutes and they forgot the coke. Really no organization in this place. Last but not least they had the nerve to add in the tip at 20% they did not deserve. However the food was tasty but I dont think I would come back. I rather go to catfish a few miles away.
The ambience, waiter, bartender was perfect. We went for girls night, sat in a back and had a good old time. The drinks are amazing. The crab mac and cheese is also delicious! BUT be careful what you are eating. They were careless with one of our orders and we found lint(oh so we think) in the food. Almost ate it, since it was dark. This was our second order so it made me wonder if there was lint in the first as well that we missed. The waiter was gracious with it ( so i aint posting the pic) but please look at the food before eating. Needless to say, i will go back for drinks!!!! But not food..
Pre-Covid I would’ve given this place 5 stars... but I visited the place again and the feeling was nothing like pre-pandemic. It was very cold...and I don’t mean that literally as in temperature. It is more of a self-service vibe. You now must take your own temperature, read a menu affixed to a wall, go to the bar counter and place your order for both food and drinks, receive your pre-bottled drink and a number to put on your table and you go seat yourself. I asked the server...well cashier I guess for a straw and she pointed me to the front of the store for it. The food was amazing...however I waited for over an hour for my order and it was served to me in take out containers and paper plates. This was not the type of service that I was expected for a dine- in restaurant especially one that added an additional service fee to the bill (without a heads up). I understand that these are different times in the food world, but I believe if a restaurant decides to open for in house service, the experience should be just like it was prior but also keep social distancing and sanitizing efforts in mind.
My tapas was good and I had an enjoyable evening out however the speed of service was lacking. I never even got to order a second drink. I had the jerk Mac n cheese which was yummy, the ginger soy wings which was just fried wings with soy sauce, and the Beso cocktail which was yummy. The place is small and cozy but they could use another chef to get the meals out!
If I could give this place zero stars I would. Never in my life have I had to wait for a server to come up to my table so long. My friend ordered a margarita and the LADY had us waiting for 20 plus minutes and did not even even put the order in. Save your money, a LONG train ride, and just stay in Manhattan.
Had a 2pm reservation for 2 on Dec 7th..The food was cold. I had the shrimp and grits and my cousin had the french toast. I went to the restroom and when I came back the table was cleared off my drink was gone and I did not even get my check..We were asked to move to make room for another reservation..Our 2 hour brunch reservation was not up yet..The best part was the DJ.
I was so disappointed tonight after going here. Its nothing like its namesake! We sat and ordered drinks and apps right away and they came fast but she didnt even consider we had no silverware. I had to ask for it and it still took her a while before we got it!The portions on the apps were very small. The crab cakes were 3 little bite size balls. The guacamole with crab was one little scoop with 10 chips and it was bland. My glass was empty for 20minutes and then I finally stopped my waitress to ask for another. We finished our appetizers and had to wait fir for a few then called our waitrefir a order our meal. She just didnt pay arent attention to us too offer good serviceIm Latina, so I know good Latin food. The coconut shrimp with plantains was not very good. The coconut rice was bland, the shrimp didnt have any coconut flavor, and there were 4 tiny plantains. My friend ordered the chicken and rice dish. Her rice and beans tasted smokey and like they were made in vinegar. Her chicken was bland. My biggest issue was the poor service given by our waitress. She seemed to care less about us and it was reflected in her tip, which was more than generous compared to what she deserved. I will not be back and will tell others.
Food was okay, price was a lil 👀. I was really enjoying myself. Until I had a misunderstanding with another patron. I believe she thought I was being rude. While I was offering help. After that interaction I was ready to go home. Ladies we really need to show more love toward one another xoxo #More❤LessHate
The ambiance was wonderful especially the outdoor seating, however it stops there. The food lacked seasoning. My boyfriend and I ordered the BBQ Guava wings for the starter. We waited for about twenty minutes and the wings were cold. For the on tray we ordered the Angus Burger and Red Velvet waffles. The waffles were too spongy and icing tasted like stale cream cheese! Unfortunately I will not return. Im surprised since I was customer numerous times and the food was always great.
Tapas were more expensive than I would have thought they should be based on the dishes we tried. The Crab Guacamole was good, in the sense that avocado and crab are good on their own, but the Guacamole was just mashed avocado as opposed to guacamole which has citrus and seasoning. Arepas were good, but out side of that there werent many dishes that really stood out. Atmosphere was good, service a little inconsistent-- Might be a better spot for drinks than tapas/dinner.
I am from out of town and my friend raved about this place. We went for Father’s Day and they offered a pre-fix menu for $45. There wasn’t anything on the menu that seemed like it would take a 1.5 hour wait for food, which is how long we waited in the hot restaurant. We ordered mac and cheese balls (3 little balls) and two orders of wings as our appetizer which took 40 mins to come. The glass of champagne that was included came as a mimosa with majority orange juice. We then waited another hour and ten mins for one order of chicken and waffles, steak and eggs w/ potatoes and fish and grits. All of that should’ve taken no less than 30 mins. A waffle takes 2 mins to make, eggs take 2 mins, there should’ve been enough grits made for a couple of hours, the steak barely had any steak so it shouldn’t have taken long at all. My goodness I have never waited that long for breakfast food in my life! Did not offer any free mimosas for the wait, or a percentage off the bill, nothing. People waited so long that by the time their food came they asked for to-go boxes. I saw multiple tables ask for to-go boxes. The fish and grits were good but the cheese they used was disgusting, it tasted like ravioli sauce. Did I mention everyone was burning up in the restaurant? Multiple people were using napkins to wipe off sweat from their faces and necks. Then at the beginning when the server was taking our orders we asked her if she wanted us to put in the dessert order because if was listed as a course on the pre-fix menu and she said she would take the dessert orders after we finished our meals. When we finished our food we asked for our dessert and she said there wasn’t any cheesecake then we asked for 3 rum cakes instead. She went to the back to check if there was rum cake and then came back and said the restaurant made a mistake by putting the dessert on the pre-fix menu. How hard is it to correct a mistake like that on the flyer? We came very early so there’s no way they ran out of the dessert, they just didn’t make any! I am not a fan of this place. The server walked past our table multiple times and didn’t even get us a new picture of water because ours was empty. We had to ask! Cmon now it’s 90 degrees outside and no AC where we were sitting. The food was very subpar in general and I expected it to be all that after waiting nearly 2 hours. The music was great though. I’m never gonna go to Brooklyn Beso again. The fact that they include a 20% gratuity on the bill very below average customer service and subpar food is just wild.
Came here the other night for the first time on a date... so heres the breakdown.... the place itself was very clean and initially staff was very nice and friendly... we placed our order of wings and tacos and thats where it got bad... they brought my wings out.. and they didnt bring my dates tacos for over 30mins.... I finished the wings and her food still hadnt arrived... 2x we asked and both times we couldnt get an answer... and the food was definitely not worth the wait...
My sister and l discovered a rare gem right in the neighborhood that we lived in for two decades combined. What a pleasant surprise it was to walk into such a unique and welcoming environment on Lewis Avenue. We were greeted by the Floor Manager/Bartender, Ron. What an awesome man. His recommendation of the strawberry and mango margaritas were to die for. The starters we decided to order included mini crab cakes, fish tacos, mac and cheese and guava bbq wings. Kudos to the chef as our favorites were the crab cakes and guava bbq wings due to the impeccable flavor. Theres nothing like well seasoned food. The ambiance was just right. Thank you to Restaurant Manager Annya for vibing with us. Well definitely return. Weve found a new place to call our after work home. 🤗❤
This has become my neighborhood bar. The food is super tasty the drinks exotic great atmosphere its the restaurant bedsty needed Latin , Caribbean and American Afro inspired try it all youll love it mild or spicy. The one downer needs a hostess and a simple system like a chalkboard sign on the weekends for tracking the honor ways not working with hungry people.
Nice place good music, cool people but the staff needs training on speed and accuracy. Its not big enough for the staff to always be in the weeds. Aside from that its a cool spot to chill with friends. But dont come hungry or thirsty because the wait will definitely make you want to walk out.
It has been a long time since I have eaten at this neighborhood restaurant and Friday 5/24, I decided to go there for drinks and eats. I ordered the Guave chicken which was terrible then I ordered the BBQ wings which I did not eat all of it. The chicken was not fresh but frozen bag wingettes, unacceptable! Within hours I was sick, upset stomach , etc. Beso need to serve FRESH chicken and/or get new chef! One star for the drink.
Quaint restaurant but the food was cold. It took our waiter 10 minutes to come back to our table before we could send back our food. By the time they came to check in, we were highly disappointed and were left to eat a cold meal. The highlight were the drinks but the food, though cold, was obviously not seasoned properly.
I went in with a Groupon for a dinner for four, and when I asked about the portions they said that all the tapas were a smaller groupon size and I said okay but had wished that it would have said something about the groupon portions being small in the information. When they brought out the food however they apologized for the confusion and gave us all the regular portion size. I was definitely impressed by how thoughtful they were (especially our waiter, I cant remember her name but she had dark hair) and it was a very nice experience overall, the food was really delicious. Its pretty spicy though so if youre not into that be weary you might want to ask for milder items
FOOD: 4 out of 5We ordered the grilled shrimp entrée, the Not-Cho chicken, fried shrimp poppers, chicken mac and cheese, 2 rum punches and 2 margaritas. Everything was delicious EXCEPT the chicken mac and cheese which tasted like a bland middle school cafeteria lunch. Please note from the pictures: my niece did not order the chicken mac and cheese to go that’s actually how they served at the table; it looks like it was also baked in that dish. Also, I started to order the crab nachos but asked Dia if it was imitation crab meat or real. She said it was canned crab meat, which didn’t answer my question (because some lump crab comes in a can), so I just changed my order. They also need to work on the timing of the food orders. My 2ndniece arrived just after we placed our food orders; they should have held our orders for a few minutes longer to place all three together. I ordered shrimp that cooks much faster than chicken; my food was sitting out and getting cold while we waited for my niece’s chicken sandwich to arrive. It took another 30 minutes for my niece’s chicken mac and shrimp poppers to come out.AESTHETIC: 3 out of 5The décor is beautiful from the street, to indoors to the back patio everything is beautiful decorated, colorful and aesthetically pleasing. The back patio has a lot of light and live plants. There’s beautiful sky lights, but they were all closed so it felt like a greenhouse inside. On May 19th it was EXTREMELY hot inside; I can only image what August will feel like in that place. Also they lose environmentally friendly points because of all the plasticware. We had plastic cups, forks, straws. My meal was served in a tin trey with a piece of paper in the bottom. The chicken mac and cheese to-go container was not the best presentation.SERVICE: 2 out of 5The two is for the male waiter and the chef. Dia claimed to be a manager of the space but she had the worst attitude after my 2ndniece arrived. I know NY is “open again” but it still felt really unsafe to have 3 different servers wait on our tables. This was not because of changing shifts all of them were there when we arrive and when we left. The chef also approached our table (without a mask on!). We also couldn’t even get an adequate supply of ice water (or cups to drink it) in their greenhouse.OVERALL: 3 out of 5Dia says they opened 4 months ago and have only been serving indoors for the past 2 months. Which is weird cause yelp shows theyve been open since 2012.
The food is so good. As of 4/28/2016. The menu has been changed since I was last here (perhaps 2 years ago) and its delish. I had the spicy plantain relleno and the seasoned fries. Really tasty and fresh. This is coming from a picky eater. Our waiter was really attentive - great service and nice old school R&B in the background 🙂
Horrible service. Don’t order with grub hub. They’ll just show you the way out when you come to pickup your order cuz apparently “the fax don’t work.” The bartender wouldn’t even talk to me about it and refused to explain anything. Barely acknowledging me at 8pm with no more than 5 regulars at the bar (my point is it wasn’t busy at all she was just preoccupied talking to a coworker). Even when I walked in and waited for her to notice all she could muster up was “can” then stared at me as if I shouldn’t even be there. Who the hell greets someone with ‘can’ in the service industry (which I work in). Who says that???And they’re not sorry. Pretty bad place. Pretty rude people.
Crazy expensive. The place has a cool vibe, maybe the server was way too cool to be cool to us, I dont know, she was kinda blasé, uninterested (people think Brazilians cant tip properly). Food was only ok. My burgers buns were old enough to drink. Dried up and with that old bun taste, didnt like it. The sodas, almost no gas, flat as a pan. And the beef dish, 21 dolars for a plate with mushy cold meat is waaaay to much. Not coming back soon.
Bought our mother here for their advertised mothers day brunch/dinner...we had reservations we were seated 20 mins after. As we were being seated they shut the kitchen down for a break because they were overworked...it took 2 hours to get food! With a mediocre apology from the owner saying she is trying to enjoy her mothers day too! I try to support my local businesses but they lost me...
I just had the worst meal and so did my family! Everything was salty . My husband was so disappointed he wanted to take me out to a nice place in the areafor mothers day and thought this place will be ideal. Service was poor, the glasses had lipsticks marks on them , we had to ask for water twice and when it came time for dessert the waiter said honestly is not fresh i dont think you will like it. ( i asked for tres leches) never going there again .
Is it bad? No. Its neither good. The empanadas were decent, the sliders nothing special, and the fritas were mediocre. On top of splitting the 3 tapas me and my fiance split the rib-eye steak, which I put in quotes because it was clearly a piece of flank steak. As such was over charred and lacking the flavor of an actual rib-eye steak.Go somewhere else, unless you just want cheap margaritas. Those were pretty good.
This is the worst restaurant that I ever been in my life! After 1h waiting for the food, the server came to tell they are out of the food. Offer a round of drink, the round never came. We ordered the check and nothing. We had to stand up and go to the bar ask for check and of course, they were charging for the food that never came! Not even apologized!AVOID AT ALL COST!
This is a place that I have been wanting to come to but never got a chance until tonight. El Patron is everything I expected. Another ok Mexican restaurant with great drinks among a few other perks. The hype surrounds the Patron bottle margaritas so you already know I couldnt come here without getting one! Lol so I had the pineapple mango margarita and I think my head is still leaning to the side. Very yummy & strong as well! Worth the 18$ :/ lolGot the beef empanadas and I will pass on them when I come again. The Nachos machos was ehh-- not bad but nothing to rave about. Their wings on the other hand were on point! Finger licking good especially with that mango barbecue sauce !!Beware, they do tack on a not-so deserving 18% gratuity; so pay attention. Dont forget to get your free flan from the check-in because I did :(
The hostess/bartender very nice woman... however the food is nasty no flavor i ordered the not-choo chicken sandwich and season fries in the ingredients it stated dorito crusted chicken nothing about it was dorito my friend ordered the chicken tacos no flavor one taco was decent the other wasnt same exact taco by the way no season or any type of flavor... the description of the restaurant states latin American food nothing about it is latin
Este lugar es terrible. The service is really nice BUT the food here is not worth at all, I will never come back, one of the brunch items is grits and eggs w bacon and is $16 dollars, their salad! $10 and is literally scrapped out of the $4 spring mix of the super market and they use bottled dressing. It’s a trap!

2022-03-06Great place and the food taste amazing however I can only give 3 stars at best because I’ve never been to a place that has slower service. It was absolutely ridiculous. I got there with two other people about an hour or two after they opened. Seated after a few minutes, great. Drinks came after 10 mins, not bad. Food took what felt like more than hour to get. The place was not busy at all and it looked like people who got there after us got their food before us. Something I can’t overlook. Ambiance and decorations were nice.

2022-05-28The food was delicious and came promptly. The staff was courteous, accommodating and professional. The drinks may leave one lacking as there isn’t a vast selection. Beautiful outside seating area, call ahead to make sure it’s available. Only issue I had were the chairs on the inside of the restaurant, they are not very comfortable, which lessened my overall experience.

2022-02-07So this is not a bad place. FOOD was very good once we actually got it. Great vibe great ambiance, heated garden was cool as well. Had reservations for Sunday. Took a lil over an hour to get our starters while others who came after got their food first. Our waiter was very nice. I feel like we came at a busy time where they were doin takeout orders and we kinda fell thru the cracks. Main course was good as well again we were kinda forgotten alot. However the Twins did come and try to make things better by acknowledging our long wait time and trying to rectify which was truly appreciated. We did get a round of drinks on the house. Overall GOOD food great vibe but jus a mini mishap with our service. Definitely gonna try again.

2022-06-27Came here on a Saturday afternoon without reservations, but we were seated after 10 minutes. Once seated we were told that the kitchen was backed up and had to wait 30 mins to order food. Turns out we had to wait 30 mins for drinks and appetizers too. The crab guacamole and chips were slightly tangy like it was old. The chips were stale. The service here is terrible. We finally got our food after 50 mins. And to say the least, not worth the wait. I ordered the red velvet chicken and waffles. The waffles were crumbly, crunchy, and dry with no taste. The chicken was ok had a little flavor. The rum punch and the mango margarita was the best part of the meal. I will not be returning to this place anytime soon.

2021-09-15Service was odd. Our server barely spoke and seemed like he didn’t want to be there, which, I get it. Working service jobs isn’t easy at this time but it made for an uncomfortable experience for me and my date. The appetizer and mains came out at the same time, lemonades took about 15 minutes to get to the table and the server stood hovering over me as I paid the bill on the mobile device lol The food was unimpressive. The calamari was over cooked and missing its sauce companion. The lobster roll was served hot (not a lobster salad on a bun as one would expect) and the lobster meat itself was also over cooked, rubbery and tasteless. Experience was overall a disappointment especially considering we were huge fans of Cafe on Ralph.

2022-02-20I drove an hour to get here, I give it a 3 stars b/c WE originally went for brunch but NO BRUNCH, asked for a memosa, NO MEMOSA, then we asked for ice Macha Latte yup NO MACHA LATTE! We order whats on the picture, jerk mac&cheese was good, spicy Bacalao (salt fish) on sweet plantains, so the bacalo was dry, the one plantain was not sweet at all no balance, the shrimp was good, BUT FOR 24$ ONE SHRIMP skewer wasnt worth the price at all. NOW IF YOU WANT A STRONG DRINKS DEFINITELY GO! I had a margarita and it was super strong! Lastly the server/ chef brought me a red velvet cake and put a reagge bday song for me and i greatly appreciate! He was nice but will i go again no,

2021-09-28The food was absolutely phenomenal. They were unfortunately short staffed but it was worth the wait. The music was good and the drinks were too.

2022-03-26Food is AMAZING! The customer service is wonderful. If youre looking for a afterwork spot to enjoy good food, great music and a wonderful vibe, this is it. Al is the man in charge, very nice and kind. The bartender who was a woman (didnt catch her name), makes the best drinks. Good spot overall!

2022-05-26This is my second time here and both times have not been great. The first time I came, I ordered an açai bowl and it came frozen and unable for me to eat. After returning the frozen açai bowl I had ordered an avocado toast, which is actually pretty good. I came back today to get an avocado toast. But of course it was nothing like the first avocado toast. The lack of consistency here is really weird. I received two thick pieces of unttoasted bread with the thinnest layer of avocado😂 it’s almost laughable. I probably won’t be coming back here.

2022-04-23The bartender did an amazing job with the drinks! The food was about a 3 rating. I ordered the fillet snapper and it was very good however the black rice was terrible. It was hard and dry like they put it in the oven to keep it warm without a lid. The 4 rating was because of the drinks.
