Came across this place my accident while exploring Brooklyn...... Best accident Ive had! Great food options and tasty, loved the coffee and the staff were super friendly and helpful! Ill be enjoining the coffee I brought (in a great Brooklyn tin) in the U.K. by Sunday and telling my friends all about this place!!
Decent coffee place. There wasnt anything that really jumped out about this spot, but it gets the job done if youre looking for a drink. They have a few pastries to go along with a decent selection of beverages. Its fairly small and very echo-ey, and there are only a couple tables and booths - timing is everything if you need some space. Otherwise, its mostly bar top seating around the outside.
The employee was rude and ignorant to my demand asking for Latte in the blue cup, yet she put it in the red cup which is small I believe. She said you got to ask for double expresso shot. Guess what if I ask for blue you got to give it to me or at least say something why not or what’s up.A lady before me ordered ICE TEA and barista gave her black coffee I knew it’s not gonna be good. Very unpleasant. And the tables are DIRTY!
Coffee is strong. Place has a sedate and somnolent feel, in contrast to its former use as a “go-go” bar back in the gritty old days when the Brooklyn Navy yard was just that. Now it’s a go-to place for well manicured people in their 20’s and 30’s. The floor to ceiling windows allow plenty of light in and give you a front row seat to the frenzied traffic flow of flushing avenue.
Sort liked it better when it was a Navy Yard legit dive bar and the rest of the building was owned by an Architect to store his salvage collection. Bonus to gentrification is that Brooklyn Roasting has killer coffee. My only issues are their hours 7am-7pm weekdays and 10/12-5 on weekend ... people should have access to good coffee 24/7 or at least 6am until 12am lol.
Love the variety of coffee beans here and love being able to support a local business chain. The fact that they roast their beans here in New York, on site is amazing and provides for an insanely fresh cup. Brooklyn Roasting Company beats the heck out of Starbucks in all categories. The people who work in the various locations are all very friendly and have a great sense of humor. I talked with one barista the other day about the Eric Andre show for 10 minutes while he prepared 7 various cups of espresso drinks for my crew and I over at Steiner Studios. We laughed together as we reminisced over the absurdity of said talk show hosts show. Ive always had great encounters with the staff. Support local!
Came in when it was quite dead. The barista was friendly, but not enthusiastic for my arrival. It was my first time experiencing the Brooklyn Roasting Coffee company and I cant see what all the rage is about.I had to ask several questions to motivate the barista to tell me more about the company to his dissatisfaction. The coffee was mediocre at best.Having a cortado with whole milk, the espresso (IRIS) had the appropriate tasting notes that was present in the palate, but could not be confirmed by the nose. The berry flavors noted were very light, but may have been so from the age of the coffee or the darker roast. I would describe the nuttiness of the coffee more on the Brazilian nut or black walnut side rather than a hazelnut or chestnut flavor. The most disappointing part of my experience was the milk. Typically the sweetness of the whole milk is plenty of sweetness to stand up to the espresso. But the poor quality of milk being used was quite obvious due to the lack of sweetness from the lower butterfat content and poor flavor of the foam on the top of the cortado.I would have much liked a better first experience, but will give Brooklyn Roasting Company a second chance when I visit another location in the near future.
Really great coffee shop and awesome location! I really have had only the best interactions until today. I was excited to try the tin refill program, where you can bring in a used tin and fill it up for a slight discount, but was sadly disappointed by their pricing on this option. I brought in what I assume is a smaller size than they normally fill, a 9oz tin that I purchased at my grocery store for around $10. My assumption was that filling it up would be cheaper than my original purchase price, but I ended up paying the refill price for the larger 12oz can which was $15, $5 more than I originally paid for my brand new tin. The person helping me at the counter even asked her manager (?) if she should charge me the same price as the 12oz can, seeing as the can I had was smaller, and the manager glanced over and said to charge the same price. At that point I already had the coffee in my tin, so I didnt want to make a scene and complain that this seemed unfair to charge the same amount for 3oz less coffee. My advice would be go for the coffee, but not the tin refills! Go the grocery store instead and get more of the exact same coffee for much less money.
Coffee tastes burnt and sub par. Now if the price was less expensive than maybe it would be worth drinking burnt coffee. But they are also overcharging you for all of their items which are most likely bought wholesale. Very disappointing spot in an area where so many people need their coffee.
Ping pong and coffee! What could be wrong with that? I dont find myself near the Brooklyn Navy yard that often but its nice to find a familiar spot for a cup of Joe. I didnt inquire as to what it took to play ping pong but its always good to have an option of sport with your coffee. They have pastries from colsons which is one of my favorite bakeries in Brooklyn. They sell t-shirts and socks if you want to get some Brooklyn roasting company memorabilia. They have an outpost in the building with Russ and daughters and the upcoming expanding Food Hall, as well which has nice views.
We stopped in here on a break from the 5 boro bike ride for a coffee and a vegan strawberry muffin (the only thing they had left after the other riders ransacked the supplies). It was dirty, but that was probably because of bikers like me rolling through in large numbers and destroying the place.
#ThrowBack2019Brooklyn Roasting Comapany, trendy neighborhood, drip coffee, vegan donuts, big clean bathrooms. Its in Dumbo near the foot of the bridge. Please come to rest your feet, sip good coffee, delicious desserts. Its hard to find a seat. The inful method works a lot.

2021-12-18Probably the best spot in the area, but wouldnt say the coffee is really good. Located in a quiet side of Brooklyn, so not sure theres a better spot around. On the other hand, the bakery goods are very good.

2022-02-10Best cup of coffee in New York. Believe when I say you can taste the difference, fresh, smooth. Bring a reusable cup, and and get a few cents off your order! Get some beans for home if ya can’t make it to the coffee shop, the tin is cute and reusable 🤗

2022-04-07Since when has asking for a decaf coffee become a problem. In the age of gluten free, soy and almond milk, vegans , lactose free , 0%alcohol beer and every other preference a decaf coffee should not be so difficult. Some people can not have caffeine, plain and simple. Unfortunately this place doesn’t offer decaf coffee. What the do offer is an Americano. A decaf espresso with hot water. No thanks.

2022-04-18Somehow it being a coffee shop the workers never have energy or even politeness other than taking your order. Then you supposed to tip them on top of a bad customer service experience. No thank you. Not the place to go if you like coffee shop vibes. Maybe just to pick up coffee and leave.

2019-03-25This is by far one of the best coffee shops you’re fine and all of New York City whether you have to get a lot of work done or you want to play some table tennis or even just sit on one of the couches and watch Netflix...this open space is for EVERYONE! Not to mention they always satisfy with a solid cup of coffee

2022-02-13This roaster has a great range of choices. The details on single origins and varietals are first rate, yet they have better prices than other specialty roasters. They only recently started to do a choice between their tins or a valved bag as a cost tier two options. Some bundles have the tins also. I like their Sumatra Kitiera, and the interplay of Mocha Java and Java Mocha. Peruvian decaf also. They also sell a good diner mug rainbow logo and egg latte cup and saucers.(Not sure if those are their logo on an acme or a loveramic, but shapely like that brand.) The diner mug can handle the force applied with Aeropress with Fellow Prismo attachment and the right size for one with a milk foam to brim. I use a green cup from them for home made matcha latte psychedlic instagram kodachrome fun. They have a good heft for a cupping spoon too, but seems like you have to get it in the coffee peanut butter bundle. I went for so much merch to get free shipping at start of covid when brewing at home, but it has been a good kit.
