No high pressure sales. Salesman asked what I wanted, then proceeded to build the car I wanted on line. I was told the expected delivery date would be late October. I was given updates by Browns Ford as they received information from Ford Motor. I was then given a new delivery date that had been moved up by thirty days to late September. I received word that the car would be delivered to Browns Ford on September 28. The car was ready for delivery on October 2nd, and I actually picked it up on October 6th. At delivery the car was clean, the paperwork was in order and the Salesman did an excellent job of explaining and setting up the electronics. I have been buying Ford cars since 1954, and this was the easiest purchase I have ever experienced. The best part of this purchase was Browns Ford getting me an additional $3000 off the invoice price. I would highly recommend Browns Ford if your in the market for a new or used Ford. Just stop in and ask for Alec.
Browns Ford of Amsterdam is definitely worth seeking out. Most comfortable buying experience ever here. Sales team was consistently accessible, responsive and professional throughout the procurement process and followed up afterward to ensure satisfaction. Top notch operation.
Very unprofessional. Told them I would be in on Monday to sign paperwork to buy out my lease...even texted salesperson when I was on the way. I arrived and he asked, Where is that paperwork for Debra Casline? He didnt have anything ready so I left to run errands rather than sit there for 45 minutes (the estimate they gave me on how long it would take). I was also told that I would need to put $1250 down even though salesperson had given me monthly payment (with the extended warranty and no down payment) previously.....so the $1250 was a total surprise. Then when I return and am signing the papers the business person was hacking and coughing and my partner said, jokingly, that it was ok because we were both fully vaccinated and she responded, Well I havent been and dont intend to. And at that point she lauded me with how she didnt know a single person who had died or had a really bad reaction even though lots of people she knew had it. At that point my partner removed himself and walked around the lot rather than be in the same room with her and I pulled my ask out of my bag to put on. Keep in mind that I am almost 64 and my partner is 68 so we are cautious. Very unprofessional overall. Am happy with my vehicle but dismayed that the service was so lax. I realize that we reside in a very small town in upstate NY where most service is laid back and comfortable.....that I can accept and appreciate. But this was just too much.
Recently made a purchase, both the sales team & management team were great. They took the time to explain both the vehicle & financing options. Were honest & took the time to track down answers to my questions. I met or spoke with multiple dealers prior to making my purchase and found Brown’s to be the most friendly, open & honest. Instead of having a sales person who had to constantly “check with managers” the managers at Brown were directly accessible to me & supported there sales staff. Plus the pricing was Great!!
Terrible service in the service dept. Made an appointment to have my vehicle serviced, when I arrived at my scheduled time I was told I would need to wait hours for them to even pull it in to look at it. Absolutely no effort from service staff to even explain why or remedy. Waiting room is sparse at best, a few old dirty office chairs. Drive the extra 30 miles into Albany and go to a real Ford dealer.
I leased a Ford Escape from Brown’s 3 years ago and was pleased all during that time. When the lease ended, I did not even consider going anywhere else for a new car. The sales staff was knowledgeable and answered all our questions. It was a pleasure doing business there.
I love my new 2020 Ford Ranger XLT! It has everything I wouldve dreamed of in a work/pleasure Truck. We enjoyed the entire experience at Browns Ford. The sales people were most friendly, cheerful and when out of their way to help me obtain what it was I wanted for my work truck replacement. Its quiet running, reliable and a great looking truck throughout. Many bells and whistle as standard equipment, plus some extras. So happy we went to Browns Ford in Amsterdam, NY when looking for a new truck to replace my old 2010 Ford Ranger with over 225,000 miles. What I wouldve wanted that you do not offer, is a LOWER truck/truck bed as Im 55 and its hard to reach for tools in the back bed as I work out of my truck most of the time. Theres no step to reach in, and its sometimes a chore to work all day with the issue. Im glad I have this truck and that we got a terrific deal with our trade-in and financing.
My experience with Amsterdam Browns Ford was great. My part that failed was also under extended warranty and the part was replaced without any charge to me. They made arrangements to pick up my car from my local repair shop, took it to theirs, repaired it and I had it back in two days. I would recommend them to anyone.
Browns Ford is a 5 star plus. I purchased a Ford Transit passenger van last week from salesman Robert Berben. The whole transaction was done by phone and email with Robert including delivery of the van to my office in North Syracuse, New York. Browns Ford is very professional and very easy to work with. Every detail i asked for was done exactly and fast. Also the title clerk Mariah Monroe was also very professional and very knowledgeable on the OMS plates that i needed. I will be doing future business with Browns Ford and staff. Thank you for all your help. See Robert for your next vehicle purchase!
October 2018Saw an ad on their website on Sunday for a Taurus with nice rebates, drove to the lot to see if the car was still there. It was, so I clicked the contact button on their website. Monday morning at 8:08 am I got a phone call and stopped in.I dealt with Kimberly. As we negotiated the deal I felt she was straight forward and honest. Picked up the car Thursday afternoon, and she spent considerable time showing my wife all the features and answering questions. We found a couple of minor issues, so we will be getting those corrected through the body shop.January 31, 2022Well, the wife saw the new Bronco Sport, and liked it. We talked to a few people in parking lots and they all seemed to be happy. I did some review on the internet and liked what we saw. Called Kimberly Monday afternoon and she said they had one left. Went up to Browns and drove the Bronco and wifey had a big smile. Stopped at the bank, got a check, went home and took some stuff out of the Taurus and drove back to Amsterdam. The new Bronco is sitting in the garage all nice and shiny. The process took about 3 hours. Robert Bourbon spent some time going over the features of the truck and patiently answered our questions. We have had several SUVs but had driven AWD cars for the last 6 years. Switching back to an SUV for awhile. If anyone is looking for an AWD Taurus ours is in great shape and sitting at Browns.
Cannot say enough about the service department at Brown’s Ford. My father and I broke down 4-1/2 hours away from home and limped our truck to their dealership on a Saturday at 8am. The staff shuffled things around and graciously squeezed us into their already full schedule without an appointment so we could get back on the road and return home to Buffalo. During our wait, a couple of the sales associates even kept us company and visited with us until our vehicle could be repaired. The whole staff at Brown’s went above and beyond to get us back on the road quickly and safely.
I live about 100 miles from Browns Ford and I had the opportunity to purchase a new truck from Browns Ford several years ago and they treated me the way a customer would expect to be treated,. A couple of months ago I was in the area again and one of my vehicles experienced some mechanical difficulties so I decided to leave it at Browns Ford for repair. The Service Department was OUTSTANDING!, my truck was properly and professionally repaired ahead of schedule and while it was being repaired they gave me a no hassle loaner car for only $11 a day! I was so impressed that I decided that I would order my next truck from them and once again they exceeded my expectations. They called me when my new truck came in this week and told me it was going to be thousands of dollars less then our already agreed upon price! The new F150 is an amazing truck! I could not be more pleased with it and without a doubt Ill be driving 100 miles up to Browns for my next vehicle purchase!Ed KolorRhinebeck, New York
I have always had excellent experience with Browns Ford and the work that they have done on my vehicle. My go to choice of servicer is Senior Mechanic John Casler because he always done a thorough job and he is helpful about providing further detailed feedback on any other items that stand out with the vehicle.
I had a Wonderful Purchasing experience of my new Ford Edge, Titanium from Browns Ford this week! From start to finish, Kimberly was quick to find the vehicle Id been looking for over the past weeks, with the options I was looking for. Id gone to several Ford Dealers in person, to look around the car lots during the Covid issue. All the sights online said the showrooms were closed, but, that I could make an apptmt to purchase one.Kimberly at Browns Ford in Amsterdam emailed me or called when I had questions about the Ford Edge and Ford Escape models of which I was undecided on.I now own just the car I wanted and more! There are so many included options in this model that Im amazed that it doesnt drive itself!Very happy with the deal I received with its several discounts, rebates. The friendliness and overwhelming helpfulness of the staff making the experience a smooth and pleasant one. I highly recommend you stop in to Browns Ford in Amsterdam and take a look around - and say Hi to Kimberly for me.
Its amazing how many things they can find wrong with a vehicle that is just two years old now.I understand that perhaps business is down at the service department with the pandemic. But I had to pay a $100 deductible for my extended warranty, and Uber fees back and forth to my house. After being a loyal customer, this will be my LAST Ford vehicle.
The dealership side is amazing! Ill be doing business with them again. The service side, however, is a place Ill avoid in the future. The seemingly senior service rep there (right side counter) is very unpleasant and undesirable to deal with. I had to walk away from an appointment due to his attitude, and have dreaded calling to schedule an appointment in the past because of his surly nature. Ill be spending my money and time with another shop; there are plenty in the area to choose from.
Our truck died on the highway while towing our camper. We were towed here around 5pm (closing) on a Thursday and they took our truck in first thing Friday morning to see what was wrong. They fixed it and we were on our way within a couple hours. The staff is friendly and diligent about following Covid precautions. We highly recommend.
The service at Browns Ford Amsterdam, NY is excellent! They are very accommodating when I need to get the car in for service right away. They have a rental car option in case my car needs a longer stay with them. I love that they are committed to excellence in serving. I can depend on Browns Ford serving to do a great job. Thank you, Browns Ford. I think I will keep buying Ford vehicles. This is our third Ford.
I have some reservations about this place. Im hoping they do the right thing. If you do purchase a vehicle from Browns, question their extended warranty and get it in writing. The extended warranty is not as good as the Ford Dealership but they say they will honor their warranty as what Ford Offers. Their service department doesnt seem to know that. Th repairs that were supposedly made did not fix the problem.
My wife and I had been truck shopping for about a month when we stopped by BROWNS FORD IN AMSTERDAM NY to see what pickup trucks they had. We met salesman Robert Berben, he asked what kind of truck we were looking for. He took the time to ask what we wanted in our truck and then Rob showed us the perfect truck for us. He made us so happy! Browns Ford was awesome, they did everything to get us that truck! I never had a Ford before, I always owned a Chevrolet since I was 17 years old and now Im 66 years old. Rob, Joe and Kim were so awesome! They went above and beyond what any other car dealer has ever done in the past. We were amazed. We will definitely go back to BROWNS FORD IN AMSTERDAM NY for another truck or car when its time. They made our experience such a pleasure and made us feel like family!!!!❤
Great service. The problem was found. The parts ordered came early. The quote on the price was large due to the job which is average for the job. Well the job was done in under the time and I saved $200.00. I couldnt be more pleased. I was treated well, and we communicated well. I will be back from now on to get all my oil changes there. Thank You.
Service department doesnt take the time to apply work-around fixes and just wants you to buy and install brand new parts to make the most money as possible. Labor time is also over exaggerated when most jobs can take a half hour but they will charge the full hour at the minimum.
Browns Ford Amsterdam advertises $0.99 NYS car inspections, which would be a great deal, but when they inspected my car they said hundreds of dollars of work is required when it apparently was Not required. This happened to me twice when I tried to use their “deal.” Both times I said no and went to another mechanic who said the recommended work wasn’t needed and passed the inspection at the regular price, approx $20. I felt that Browns was being predatory by using cheap inspection prices to lure in and take advantage of customers.
Hands down, the best dealership Ive ever dealt with in all the years Ive had cars. Sales personnel work with you, are not pushy, and make the purchase or lease of your vehicle an enjoyable experience. Their service department is excellent, precise, and quick. I recommend them to anyone who listens :-)
Our experience at Browns Ford was exceptional. It was a no pressure exploration of which model was best for our needs. We drove several vehicles and the sales team helped us to fit the monthly payments into our budget. We couldnt be more pleased. Thanks Rob and Kimberly!
Awful. Had an air bag recall through ford moco, the recall stated that I was to be able to use a rental vehicle with no charge while the recall was being fixed. I was told by Browns Ford of Amsterdam that they don’t do loaners, and if I wanted one I better go to a dealer in Albany if I wanted that. Not only that was told the fix would only take an hour. Took OVER two hours. Tried to speak to a manager about the situation and was never called back or given any explanation as to why I was getting the run around by them. I purchased both of my vehicles through them. And that will be the final 2 vehicles I will have purchased through them. Zero customer service unless you are handing them money.
Purchased my second car there in September 2016. Paid to have the undercoating doneSo far I cant get any paperwork regarding that it was ever done. I keep getting the runaround from the sales Department. I dont think it takes 2 months to put a stamp on an envelope and mail it out. Im wondering if it was ever done. Again no proof. They also cannot remove the remains of the writing on my windshield. Sorry I ever returned there. I will miss having my car serviced thereThe Service Department is the Best. The Sales Department is not. I cannot recommend this Dealership in Amsterdam
I bought a 2014 ford fusion from browns ford in amsterdam .... absolutely love my car!! Everything else sucked about that place... my first time there test driving the car I ended up buying I was basically lectured by the manager and talked to like I was and idiot telling me I basically couldnt have the car because I needed a cosigner and blah blah....well I had a loan from elsewhere without a cosigner and still got my car... plus he tried to give me a guilt trip about the salesman going through procedures and whatnot .... Im not a cold hearted person I feel bad for him but what does that have to do with this transaction?? Why did I have to deal with salesman anyways when he had to keep going to his manager. ..stop playing games with me and lets make a deal already jeeeez.... dealt with 4 different people just to buy my car..... customer service was disappointing. .... the positive thing about it all was the night before I went to buy my car I gave them everything and when I walked in the door.... most of everything was done and ready for me ....they knew had to go to work.... which was and 1hr 30min drive .. other positive was my car is everything I ever could have asked for!! I would 50/50 recommend browns to a friend ....if you can get past the customer service which I couldnt because I deal in customer service and was disappointed. ....
👎👎 service, took almost 6 hours for a job they said would last 2. Charged for tire disposal yet they left the 4 tires in my car. Claimed they were short staffed and a worker went out hurt, which he did, 5 hours after my car got there. I asked for Jeff Brown but he wasnt in, hopefully he calls me.
The sales person here was really good. Even got us into a car that we didnt know we wanted. But were glad we did. Really fair trade amount was givin for or old car. One of the better dealers ive dealt with. Just have to see in the future how they are to deal with when it comes to service and warranty issues.
I was upsets& annoyed with the Amsterdam Ford dealership ...My husband requested to use a loaner vehicle, so that he could drive me 2 miles for errands while we were waiting for the car to be service. We were advised that they dont loan cars out any more. The dealership said we could rent a car for a 2 miles driveI was terribly frustrated with your new policy. It made a busy day much longer than it needed to be
We have a Ford Focus and we originally complained that the car was making noise. It continued for about 1 1/2 years. The Amsterdam service department never could hear the noise, so I took it to Johnstown and took the service tech for a ride with me, and he immediately heard the noise. But they couldnt figure out where the noise came from. I got the car back still making the same noise. Then there was a recall on it to monitor the transmission, so I brought to Amsterdam to do that, and I believe they changed the shift pattern because now only gets 32mpg instead of 36mpg. The noise is gone away but now the transmission shutters. They said the noise was coming from the transmission first off, but then said no it was coming from the clutch. But the clutches are back ordered. Its been about one year now, and still waiting for the clutch. Every time I ask they say 3 months. Its still on warranty because Ford extended the warranty due to this issue with so many problems with the clutch. I have no trust or faith in anything they say. Eventually I will be getting another car and so will my wife and son, but believe me we will not give Browns Ford business again. And they are so rude in the service department at Amsterdam. Its about customer service, they care, I dont think so!
I had to had the rubber overlay of my rear bumper replaced due to an incident. Browns Collison had the bumper off, straightened, back on and the new overlay on in a couple of hours. Looks fantastic! They also replaced a blown bulb we didnt know about. Kudos to the staff and techs!!
As with every other vehicle we have purchased from Browns Ford, the pricing was more than fair, the trade in value was excellent, and the sales staff was very professional. We are extremely satisfied with the purchasing process, and would recommend Browns Ford to anyone interested in purchasing a new or preowned vehicle.
Bob W, Ive bought 10 or 12 Ford products from Browns Ford, Jtwn but this time Browns Ford of Amsterdam had the F 150 that I wanted and purchased and felt compelled to have it Serviced there. The personnel are friendly and precise and keep ahead of my vehicles needs. From the Salesmen to the Service Staff they rate high in my book.
My husband brought our 2016 Ford Edge with 15,000 miles in for routine service and requested their $39.99 special which included an oil change with filter and tire rotation. The service writer informed him that at 15,000 miles he also needed a $91 caliper service, a $90 cabin filter, and a $60 air filter. The service writer did not inspect any of those parts before making this recommendation. My husband bought the caliper service because he wanted to ensure our familys safety, but declined the filters, as he could perhaps buy those parts on line and install them , saving some money. When he returned home, we looked in the Ford Maintenance schedule and discovered that the cabin filter isnt due until 20,000 miles and the air filter isnt due until 30,000 miles. The caliper service is not mentioned in the maintenance schedule. We question the necessity of the caliper service that we purchased, and are grateful we didnt purchase the $250 filter service. We believe that we were not given accurate advice.
I was in the market for a new F150. I had gone to 3 other dealerships from Albany to Lake George. These guys offered the best trade in value by far (over $1500 more). The truck I finally settled on needed to be ordered. And I needed it no later than the end of the year. These guys expedited it and when it got delayed drove down to the Rail Head, picked it up and got it to me in time. After I got it, I didnt really like the tires/wheel style. They swapped them out with another truck, updated the TPMS and computer, all without charge. These guys went above and beyond!!
Top notch service. Guys are always respectful and knowledgeable, don’t push unnecessary services. In reading some other posts, doesn’t seem like a legit gripe if you have to have your whole family post a negative review. Grow up, these guys are straight shooters. Own GM products but only use Brown’s for my service!
5/14/20 Dealer serviced F150 with oil change, tire rotation, NYS inspection and a Ford recall. All while practicing safe distancing and for a great price, Wait time was minimal. 5 star visit.5/1/2019 Dealer unable to locate source of rattle inside driver door on F150 pickup. I suspect power tow mirrors. 3 stars for this visit3/24/20 NYS inspection, oil & filter change, tire rotation on Subaru. 5 stars for price & service.
Had the best experience from the 1st phone call to the moment we walked into the front door. Everyone was friendly, courteous, professional, and never pressured me into purchasing my New 2018 Ford Escape. On top of the staff the facility was very clean and neat. I am so happy with my upgrade from the 2008 model and i will always stay with Ford, Have been good to me and my family for many years. A BIG Thank you to Rob Berben our sales guy, who treated our daughter like a queen and was amazing with me. And another BIG Thank you to Lawrence Michalski, Business Manager for making my New Years gift happen. Last but not least we Cant forget to thank Poppie, Virgil Cater for recommending Browns Ford in the first place. Love ya Virgil (GO ARMY... LOL)
My dealer Pat was great and open to explaining things to me and willing to work for me and what I wanted while trying to give me the best deal. The Browns finance department was also patient and kind in explaining things. He seemed to be more concerned that I was ok with what I was signing and understood everything.
Purchased a new car here but it has been quite some time, inquired as to what was the order date with the sales manager and was told he didnt have a way to know the information. The boss takes the book home with him so he is the only person who knows. Seems strange to say the least. They have gone out of their way however to accommodate me with the delay issue. I cannot say the same for the service department. Alex apparently has an issue. Received my vehicle back to find that all my setting, seat position, headlight setting and wiper settings had all been changed. For what it was there for none of these items needed to be touched. Very childish!
Browns Ford Amsterdam are totally amazing! I would like to thank Lawrence and Kimberly for working so hard to make our dreams come true with a new vehicle. They really went above and beyond to help us. When we were told by a large automobile company, no names but they claim to be huggge couldnt help us. They were rude to us! Never again will I go there or recommend anyone to go there! Browns Ford Amsterdam on the other hand treated us with much respect! Thank you again for all you did Browns Ford Amsterdam!
Jeff you are very lucky to an employee as talented and professional as Kimberly .I have purchased many cars in my live time from all types of sales people Kimberly is by far the most professional caring Sales person I have ever worked with. She should be your next manager . Thankyou Bill
I have been in the waiting room for an oil change since 9:45! Made my appointment online which according to the desk person means Its not here so I guess that means you are last in line! Just how I wanted to spend my day off! Maybe someone should have communicated with me. Its 11:23 with no word from anyone.
My oil change was scheduled for 8am on a Saturday morning so I dropped my car off the night before. I completed the drop off envelope to call me when done. As of 11:15 AM (3 hours from scheduled time) I called to see if it was ready yet and was told it would be ready by 12:30 PM. So 4 1/2 hours for an oil change. Would it have been different if I was sitting there waiting, not sure I want to find out!
This is the kind of place that gives auto shops a bad name for ripping people off. They lost any chance of ever getting my business again with a simple NYS inspection. I took it my car in during the morning for a yearly inspection. Not only did I not receive a call when it was done (I had to call myself to check after 4 hours) but they failed the inspection. They said my tie rod ends were loose so they failed it for safety and quoted me $340 to replace them and realign. When I went to pick it up and I told them I would be fixing it myself, the guy at the desk acted pretty sketchy and rude.Well, I took the car home, jacked it up and checked out the tie rods. They had no play in them at all beyond the normal movement on the ball joint they are supposed to have. The boots were both intact and whole and the joint with the steering knuckle was tight. So, I took my car to a different shop and told them about my experience. They said the tie rod ends were fine and passed the NYS inspection. They are a bunch of thieves. Dont let the $1 NYS inspection fool you, thats just their way to get you in and rip you off for much more expensive work that you dont actually need done.
I brought my 2014 ford fusion in to be fixed because i had 4 lights on anyways while we waited for the car to be fixed they gave us a 2013 jeep patriot to drive until it was done.... we were starving thank god they gave us a different vehicle in the meantime i would give this a 5 star only thing that brings it down to a 3 star was the guy at the service part.... i walked up to get my car told him which was mine he just handed me the keys and said your all set.......so i was like what was the problem with the car and he says the lights were on....... NO CRAP YOU IDIOT I BROUGHT IT THERE! had to explain to him what did they have to do to fix it .... that made me so mad! i hate being talked to like an idiot! other then that idiot behind the service desk i was very happy with my visit
Since I bought my car there almost 7 months ago which actually is a Chevy Impala 2014 Ive been there 2 times for oil changes and one other situation no do fault of theirs theyve been treating me very well I would recommend them and I will be staying with them I am very happy with their work and Public relations.
Theyre the worst they dont help you at all and after like 25 minutes of standing there then the same may I help you and when you tell him what you want thats like another 15 20 minutes standing there When it comes to customer service they need to pick up their game they cant pick and choose who to help this will be the 3rd time they refused to help me Dont know of their races or what but every time I go there they refuse to help they dont even tell me if they have the part or not

2022-08-05I called the service department said I had a tire sensor fault issue. They told me they could get it in even as late as it was. They found which one it was and repaired it and was done in less than an hour. Great staff there help was tremendous. Thanks again to Browns Ford!

2022-05-12Had my car flatbed to them because the car would not start, after a quick diagnosis and repair car was done and out the door. That same day my daughter had the car and when she went to come home at night the car had no headlights. They had worked before I had the car fixed so I thought okay no big deal I will call the shop. Unfortunately they are not open on weekends anymore so to being short staffed, but I called first thing Monday and they told me to bring it in. I drove over to the service department and they took it right in. Did a quick check of everything and come to find out that both headlights had blown both low beams and high beams. It is a rare event that this happens. They put new bulbs in and checked the fuses and the system and did not charge me for the service. I am very happy with how this turned out. Thank you to the service crew for making this a happy outcome.

2021-12-03During my vehicle search I went to four dealerships. Browns Ford was by far the best of the four. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They genuinely care about helping you find the right vehicle as well as taking care of the long-term maintenance. The entire process was smooth and efficient. I feel confident in my purchase and know that Browns will take care of my vehicle needs throughout my ownership.

2022-01-03I had a good experience purchasing at Browns Ford. The salesman was very helpful and able to work with me. I was making the purchase from Florida through the phone and online. A previous dealer would not. Since picking my truck up, and having it serviced a couple of times at Browns, I am extremely satisfied.

2022-01-05Short version : I would never purchase a vehicle here after seeing the incompetence of both the sales team and their best mechanic. My experience : Brought a 2 yr old truck with 34k miles on it to get an offer on it and was hurriedly told that my truck had no oil in it according to our best mechanic and they wouldnt be making an offer. This was shocking to hear especially since it wasnt even near oil change time and was basically a new truck. After some quick research I found they were completely wrong. I never had a check engine light, low oil light, or abnormal oil pressure. It turns out this vehicle must sit for at least 15 minutes after running to get an accurate dipstick read. Furthermore upon researching my exact vehicle online I found others with similar complaints of dipstick providing inaccurate readings. The sales associate Kim suggested I put in 6 quarts of oil before leaving the parking lot, thank god I did not as it would have destroyed my $40k vehicle. I tried to speak to a manager or anyone really after figuring this out and surprise, Kim was unavailable and no one else really seemed to care.
