Brownstones Coffee in other cities:
I’ve been here a few times and the food is always good, but the real reason I keep coming back is the coffee. They have one of the best caramel macchiatos I’ve ever had. The only downside is that this location gets SUPER busy and the wait can sometimes be almost an hour.
Good brunch/diner style place with plenty of staff. The Mimosa was tasty and the healthy options (like avocado on toast) were delicious and still filling. The kids menu was standard fare (chicken and fries etc) and was way too big, but takeaway boxes were an option so it wasnt wasted. The coffee was probably the only disappointment: espresso based options were available but it think it was an automatic push-button machine rather than a traditional espresso machine.
Great place to eat did not kniw about this place until my daughter decided to check it out man I had a great time 👍 the food was awesome, and the atmosphere was great my waiter had great recommendations so our brunch was on the money check it out real nice place parking is tight though
My ratings are based on the ability to “deliver” on the essentials , and then excel on the speciality items. The specialities at Brownstone’s were special, interesting, a bit unique and served promptly! The coffee (one of the essentials) was HOT and flowing! Regrettably, especially for me, the pancakes (fluffy, of which I am not a fan) only came with liquid sugar (no maple syrup option). It’s hard to be “that place” when Aunt Jemima shows up with your avocado. (Not the well shaped bottle, but close enough). So come for the grains and speciality, but not for the ‘cakes!
Had to wait over 20 minutes while they seated 11 people before me and my party of 3. When ask they said all four couples and party of three called ahead but that was a lie. They just walk up the waitress look back and said follow me. They will not ever get my business
Went for breakfast. Very clean. Seat available as soon as we walked in. Gets very busy. Food was unbelievable. Waitress was great. Theres a reason why this place is always packed. Food was fresh and tasted spectacular. Breakfast quesadilla was a 10. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone. Good job brownstones
We almost always hate coming here but they’re the only restaurant near my mechanic. The service is typically subpar for us and the food is not that great. Except today, we met Ashley. Our waiter today was so hands on, so caring, she actually visited our table quite a few times to make sure we were good and offered her personal advice on food we were considering. She was perfect from start to finish. If they keep hiring people like Ashley, we have no issue making this our regular diner, mechanic or not. Great work, Ashley!
Always check your order. Mine was wrong every time I order. There is 6 servers standing and talking instead of worrying about customer and checking their orders. For the price we pay we should have proper order done. When you make a mistake you shouldn’t charge me for it, especially when I have to drive to you for the second time. Never again.
This is really good place, I always enjoy the food & service as well.brownstones has a nice atmosphere , sometimes there is a long wait since you can’t make a reservation, but it’s worth it!!I believe there is an app that you can call ahead and put your name down but I don’t knowhow to use it anyways
It is unfortunate that the food did not match the service. Our server was very sweet and gave us food recommendations, but sadly the meal did not impress at all. The chicken from the chicken and waffles was WAY too salty, the French toast bites were tough and the steak was completely bland. Maybe today was an off day...
Food overall is good, Coffee is nothing special..beware I placed an order online for pickup (and paid online), when my spouse went to pick it up, we were charged again at the restaurant (and for some reason it was even more expensive). Disputing the multiple charge currently with my credit card company
We just got take out this Friday morning and it did not go well at all. We asked for crepes with fruit on the side, also chicken and waffles with the waffles extra crispy. What we got was crepes filled in fruit, not on the side, which it self isnt so bad, but the chicken and waffles was the real crime. Instead of getting them crispy the waffles were drowning in melted butter making them super soggy and were so dense that is was like eating a sponge mattress. And the chicken was so over cooked they were practically black charcoal and waaaaay too salty.Reading the other reviews makes me think the guy in the kitchen was having an off day or he was new. Hopefully experience is not the norm, because it was pretty bad.
Excellent! Food is amazing and price is reasonable.Unique options - really nice menu.I went here on a Sunday afternoon at around 12. Had to wait about 20 minutes. Worth the wait!I went with my girlfriend and son - they both loved it.Very good customer service. We orderedStrawberry Shortcake Stuffed French ToastTwo orders of pancakes and eggsPotatoes are really good!Good for kids, pleasant atmosphere, all around good.
My husband and I enjoyed the food, but not the wait. The wait staff was pleasant, and the decor was interesting. If you download the yelp app on your phone you can get on the waitlist before you arrive and get seated quickly. Will definitely be doing that next time. Happy to have found this place, so close to home.
Went here for lunch with my wife. Had a little bit of a wait but not bad being it was lunch time. Food was delicious. Service, I noticed everyone serving or working the counter was happy, smiling and very polite with everyone. My first time here but my wife goes often and I can say we really like this place. Prices are very good too for what you get.
Ok, let me start by saying what an amazing place to eat wow, wow, wow! Elizabeth my dear you are officially the greatest waitress to date. Your smile was infectious, your attitude matched that fabulous vibe you guys had going on. I was singing my heart out to every Disney song that came on. What a special place to be lol ooh and the food was amazing as well!! Great job Brownstone you have a great staff of young adults with the greatest personalities.
I love this place. The coffee is delicious and the French toast bites are great. The food is always good. Most of the breakfast plates come with breakfast potatoes. I usually am not a fan of hashbrowns or potatos for breakfast but they are so good from here that I make an exception! They are delicious. I took one star away because parking lot is tiny and probably only holds about 10 cars and the seating is a bit crowded. Wish they had more room.
Ive been to Brownstones a few times and every visit is a great! Delicious food, super friendly staff. Lyn was our waitress this past weekend and she was awesome! You can tell when someone enjoys their job and cares for the people and place they are working in. Great experience every time, highly recommend!
I love this place, however my experience today just completely lowered my rating. I understand today is Mother’s Day, and as someone who has worked in food service I understand how stressful and chaotic everything could get. However, today I walked in to pick up my order that was supposed to be ready at 8:45, I ordered this order through their website the night before to MAKE SURE it would be ready in time. When I walked in I was met with a ton of customers who’s orders were supposed to be ready by 8:30 (who also ordered the night before) and they were being told that their orders will not be ready till 9:30 (an hour later) then I went to check In on my order and they said it wasn’t ready....and that it would not be ready till 10:30 (ALMOST 2 HOURS LATER). However there were people that ordered over the phone literally this morning and they were getting their orders first before any of the customers and myself who ordered the night before. This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. It should be the people who placed their orders for a certain time the night before who’s orders should be done FIRST. That’s how it always should be. Now all these people and myself who wanted to spend Mother’s Day with a breakfast ready for mom when she wakes up could not do that. And also to TOP IT OFF the portions they gave for my order was wayyyyy smaller than what they usually give in restaurant.very disorganized and I’m very disappointed.
We ordered food for Mother’s Day, two days before Mother’s Day, for 11:00 pick up. We got there at 11, they would not answer the phone. Had to get on line to be told to come back 12:30. At 12:30 still no food, they cancelled the order and didn’t bother to call us. Employees not wearing masks or gloves. The place was a disgrace. I used to be a regular customer, those days are done.
This was a solid brunch place. There was a bit of a wait, but they did a really good job at getting people seated efficiently. The food was pretty solid as well.My only gripe was that it cost $2 to switch my potatoes our for fruit and the fruit was served in a very small container, otherwise it was solid.
It was a great atmosphere. Wasnt the best service Ive ever had but wasnt terrible. Brownstones is very modern and clean. Not to much of a selection for your money. Not a lot of seating space at all.. Which in turn means there is always a wait. I personally wouldnt wait an hour for such little of a selection of food.
I just left the West Islip location after being reccomended here by a friend. I LOVE IT HERE!!! Delicious food (would definitely recommend the burgers and/or the French toast bites!), comfy atmosphere, very polite wait staff, and it smells amazing! The only issues I had was parking and the wait, but it’s totally worth it! Will definitely be coming back for a cappuccino very soon!
My favorite breakfast spot for sweet or savory! The coffee is always good, and I’ve enjoyed meals from avocado toast to burgers to cinnamon swirl pancakes. My favorite thing to do is come with a friend, get one savory dish and one sweet and split them both. Or get a half order of French toast bites for the table. Can’t go wrong there. It’s incredibly helpful that you can get on the waitlist ahead of time through Yelp. The only tricky thing is parking - it’s often easier to park around the block in the neighborhood.
WOW, what food ! The President Teddy burger is to die for as per daughter, the omelettes are large and in charge, every dish that left the kitchen looked delicious, the cup of fruit with strawberries, blueberries, and bananas were fresh and grandson loved them. The waitress service was friendly and gave us great service. It was my first time here, but my wife and daughters 6th time and nothing but 5 stars each time. You wont go home hungry !
It is a really nice place. And the people there are really nice too. It is always busy and you have to wait to seated in table. Although it is said that the wait to be seated is usually thirty minutes but we did not had to wait that long for a table. It was Me and my friends, a total of nine people. We did not had to wait much for a table. The customer service is great. I really recommend this place 💕
A little pricey, and always ridiculously busy, but worth it. Pancakes are great, eggs are made perfectly and everything is flavorful. Drinks are pricy too, but again youre paying for the wholeexperience. Recommended (but allot yourself time to get seats, at least a half hour).
Absolutely my favorite breakfast/brunch place on the Island. Download the NoWait app if youd rather avoid what could be a 30 minute wait. Get the French Toast Bites to share if youre going with somebody. Breakfast Burritos are amazing. Omlettes are perfection. Service is always consistently good and fast, and the staff is friendly and kind. Bathrooms are always clean.Doesnt get better.
Today (Valentine’s day) my boyfriend and I went to the Brownstones Coffee location in West Islip. The food was alright but very oily. Service was okay up until the end when we left and accidentally left our “to go” container. It had not even been longer than 5 minutes when we had realized that we had left it on the table upon going to the car, that we went back for it. The waitress said that the bus boy accidentally threw it out and she brings the container out and claims that it had only been on top of the trash and shows how the food was untouched. Although, her honesty was appreciated it is unacceptable to offer food that has already been exposed to contaminants. It would’ve been nice to get half of the sandwich which was thrown away remade.
The food was great, but the service ruined it. I work in the service industry in Manhattan so I can tell you, Theyre very disorganized and the seating arrangements are messy. The host was rude and pointed across the room at where we could sit instead of graciously walking us to a table like most places, the waitress seemed very confused the entire time we were almost worried to ask her questions, and at the end of the meal when we got our bill we had to tell her that she forgot to charge us for our meals. I just think they need some practice on service because thats the part that really stinks there.
Brownstones Coffee has such unusual items on the menu that are both healthy and nutritious. They also have plenty of options that are decadent and delicious! I want to continue going there until I have tried everything on the menu! Then I want to start all over again! I absolutely love Brownstones Coffee!
One of the best places for breakfast/brunch on the Island. friendly staff and great food. The only knock is that its always crowded and there isnt much parking available, so you have to park in the streets. Usual wait time is 15-20 mins, but its totally worth a visit. id say its better than iHop
This was my 2nd time here at Brownstones, my girlfriend and I were greeted at by a young woman behind the counter. She told us we were able to pick any seat in the house we choose, Im guessing this was because it was 9:15 on a Tuesday and luckily not crowded. We sat in a booth near the window and our waitress was at our table in about 4 minutes. We ordered our coffee while we browsed the menu. My girlfriend decided on the French toast bites and I went with the fifth ave French dip, lunch for breakfast :D .Our order was brought out shortly after our coffees and they noth looked and smelled amazing, I cant comment on the French toast bites because i didnt try them but my girlfriend couldnt stop eating them. So Ill take that as an indicator or their quality and delectability. My French dip was served on a nicely toasted ciabata roll with garlic butter and what tasted like parsley. The perfect vessel for a moist roast beef topped with a creamy cheese. The hint of garlic on the toasted roll compliments the roast beef in the most perfect of ways. Now the fun part, the dip! The red wine au jus was velvety and perfectly salty to cut through the creamy cheese and the toasted ciabata holds up so well even after dipped. The French fries are good, just that, not amazing, not bad, in my opinion they could use just a bit more time in the fryer for a little bit more texter. This was a great French dip and I only had to travel 6 minutes to get it and i would travel much more than that to have it again.
Best place for American breakfast on Long Island! Recommendations include: French Toast bites, Smashed Avocado Toast, and anything with their breakfast potatoes (crispy and fresh).Must be patient as there is always a wait time during the weekend. Go to their yelp prior to arriving to put yourself on the waitlist.
Brownstones in Amityville has been my favorite place for breakfast and lunch, for the past 4-to-5 years, so I was real happy when they opened the West Islip location. Not only is the food very good, but the owners and the staff are great people. I went to the Amityville Brownstones just about every single day (for food or just coffee) up until the fire in August 2015 (theyre still rebuilding), and I plan to go to to the West Islip location as much as possible. I just love the place.

2022-03-29Love all the locations but come here the most. Great staff, great food, good time! They’re super quick and as a Muslim I have a hard time finding places with no cross contamination esp in diners. I’ve never found meat in my eggs, and always enjoy the drinks. The food is delish, even their vegetarian burgers for lunch! And of course you can’t not go to Brownstones and not get the infamous French toast bites. Love this place

2022-05-31We go here regularly and its always delicious! My favourite is the French toast bites, which you cant really get anywhere else. The savoury food (eggs, breakfast burritos etc) is yummy too. There can be a wait, especially on Sunday mornings when the place is packed, but its never too long.

2021-12-17So delicious! Came here with a dear friend and enjoyed the experience. Service and food were great. Definitely hop on the yelp waiting list when you’re within 2-3 miles of Brownstones. The parking lot is small so plan your parking accordingly.
