Like many other has stated in their own reviews, food is overpriced for the taste of each dish. But I do understand that they probably put in a lot of money into the decor and staff. Great staff except for the hostess at the time, she was a bit uninviting. The two dishes I actually liked was the mushroom fried rice and the skirt steak, not mind blowing good but good enough, could have been seasoned more but thats just my own taste. Uni noodle was sub par, was a bit bland for my taste, it was just missing deliciousness lol. DO NOT ordered the duck and foie gras dumplings, it seemed like it was microwaved but they said it was steamed. You do not taste the duck or the foie gras, all I tasted was the cumin, texture was also a pasty mess. I would recommend them to remove the cumin and give the dumpling some texture. 30 bucks for 3 pieces of tiny pasty dumpling isnt something you should serve at such a high end restaurant. Was disappointed because I was expecting great food.
I love Buddha Bar but I’m use to going to the one in London. Sadly this one doesn’t live up to the same expectations. The food was mediocre and heavily overpriced. We started with the Miyazaki Wagyu crispy rice and duck Foie Gras dumplings. The dumplings were a bit dry but the wagyu crispy rice was delicious! Next for our entrees my boyfriend opted for sushi and I had the duck breast entree. The sushi rolls were pretty sloppily prepared. The fish that topped the nigiri was cut WAY too thick. My duck breast was over cooked and had a thick layer of fat under the skin where the fat clearly wasn’t properly rendered. The vegetable fried rice had no flavor.Drinks were amazing but inconsistent. I had the Serenity which is super tasty but if you order more than one expect them to taste different. My boyfriend had a Manhattan made with Woodford Reserve that he thorough enjoyed! All in all this was my second visit and I don’t think I’ll be back. Buddha Bar was one of my go to favorites when living in London but the NYC locations just not the same as the many others I’ve dined at.
Once upon a time it may have been a place to go, now it is has been. The place is still very nice visually. The duck is still delicious. The fish is perfectly cooked. The giant macaron is still a surprise and tasty. But the music is from another time, the guests are of poor taste and mixed with office parties. The rice dish is excellent yet the truffle added has zero flavor. The salad is way too acidic. The service is ok but it is the level of a low end restaurant with junior staff, not at all what one would expect from this place. Overall, this place is way overpriced for what it is.
The place get enough hype in social media so I decided to check it out myself. Lets start with good things. The interior, ambiance and bar with their drink menu is top notch, without any doubts! But what comes to the dinner part specifically to the food here are some problems. Let me put in this way - the taste is average at best... but you cant say the same about the price, it is well above average! Duck and fuagra dumplings will cost you $20 just for 3 pieces! In other words you have Zuma price for the diner food. The only thing was worth the attention was boneless whole Amish chicken and their deserts. Also when they switched the plates they didnt clean the table. So, my conclusion I will be back there for mingling and drinks but not for dinner for sure.
We were looking for a intimate place that matches our vibe to celebrate my birthday. Just a few weeks opened, I found this place. When we first entered we were breathless by the design and atmosphere of the place. Taking a few flight of stairs down, you find your self in front of a huge marble like Buddha statue. The place looks very cultural but modern, and flawlessly chic. The service was amazing and extremely friendly. We were a group of 4 so we had multiple shareable plates and food to compliment our drinks. The experience of the foods coming out seamlessly and properly scheduled, right after the other was finished, made our night go very smooth. Their bottle selection was fabulous and rich. Lastly, they were kind enough to bring me a small birthday treat to finish an amazing night.Thank you Buddha-Bar!Sincerely,Atrin H
Decor: mysterious, dark, with all necessary elements of a classic buddha bar (big statue, asian elements)Food: everything we ordered was delicious (pork robata, fried mushrooms rice, bit uni sushi roll with truffles was ok, a bit bland; manadarin desert was great)Prices: expensive, we paid over $300 for two (but this is with 5 drinks). But the amount of food was enough (3 dishes + desert)Crowd: i was surprised to find a long table of seemingly underage girls celebrating something. They were loud and obnoxious but the hostess kindly accommodate our ask to seat us far from them. The rest of patrons were nice, dressy and proper people. Many dates couples. This is a restaurant not a club or lounge so not much of singles scene. The music later in the night became quite loud and we could not help starting dancing near our table. That was very fun. Overall nice place, but pretty pricey.
Dope location, need to go back to truly experience this spot. cocktail drinks were pretty weak & expensive… at the bar you’ll get better drinks & maybe thats because its more personable. The Yellowtail was fire but wagyu steak was 50/50… definitely will go back with preferences… easily a hot spot for NYC summer nights.side note: don’t be late, 15 minute grace period only.. you will have to wait an hour PLUS or be seated at the sushi bar which is not half bad but I know restaurant goers spending $200+ on dinner will not want to be seated anywhere but where they originally reserved to be.
Ambiance and service were great. The food came very quickly at the beginning, Ceviche, spring rolls and octopus, then there was a long wait for the sushi, BBNY was ok not worth the price tag, lobster tempura roll was good. Server was nice enough to cancel the Korean chicken because we were already full. Pistachio dessert was perfect, drinks were very good. Will come back.
The decor, ambiance and the DJ was on point! The DJ played international music and had the people & the place going ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the DJ! The space inside this location is massive with a huge Buddha at the center. The food was decent. We were told by the waitress that everything on the menu was meant “to share”. We assumed large portions, well, we were wrong. The menu options is large but the portions are small. For appetizers we ordered a salad & sushi and for the main course we ordered lamb chops & chicken kebob. Somehow we got the main course first and the sushi came way after we were done with the main course, strange & frustrating ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the inconvenience and not paying attention to details but the sushi was fresh & delicious! The drinks were definitely on point. Shoutout to the talented bartender at the bar on the top floor! He definitely deserves ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall, loved the energy, decor & ambiance. Definitely would go back!
The decor & ambiance, amazing! Delicious food prepared fresh & served beautifully. The waiting staff are great! What even was more amazing is the love DJ and the international music he was spinning 👏 The atmosphere is great. Only one thing is missing, space for dancing! With this amazing music & ambiance you just want to dance. But, overall its a 10!
I would like to start by saying I wish I could give this more stars. The effort that went into designing this place is absolutely amazing. The ambiance is perfect. The decor is beautiful. I loved the bar. The staff is so friendly and were so attentive. Now the bad news...The food I ordered was mediocre in flavor. The duck dumplings were dry inside. The mushroom bao bun was good. And I found the red snapper to be a little bland. Add insult to injury with the prices for mediocre food. Im hoping I ordered wrong but at that price point there are better places to eat.
Great and honestly tasty. Not cheap at all!!! But i gues if you come here you know that by how its presented. Ask me if i would come here offten? Not reallybecause idont see a reason to spend so much on food, but overall would definitely come if a partyis reserved here!
Hostess was kind and was able to get us a table last minute, the ambience and decor is amazing! Music and overall vibe was great. However, the food was definitely not up to par. Overpriced for mediocre tasting food, we sent back our Korean fried chicken as it was hard as rock and tasteless. If you want something similar in terms of atmosphere and cuisine with more food options, and worth the price…I recommend Tao Restaurant instead.
Its a swanky, sceney fun spot for a group/celebration. The food is good. Its much better than I thought it would be because usually spots like these have poor food. However - BB food was good. The bao buns, mushroom rice and baked Alaska were all showstoppers. Highly recommend all 3Service was great and they accommodated the needs of our group very well. Its a vibe without being cheesy. Its sexy, elegant, the music is ofc amazing and the crowd was great. I would come back for a big celebratory night.
I personally gave 3 stars but my date said a 1 star so we averaged it out to 2 stars.Ambiance & Drinks are great. Jason the bartender is a sweetheart! He shared the bar with another bartender who was inattentive & shouldn’t be serving the public. She’d be better off as a correction officer or a mortuary attendant.Food is horrible. The price is as expected for the area and type of restaurant, so for that, the food should be palatable. But a night out ONLY for drinks & music w/ friends, to mingle or happy hour after work with coworkers…this place is an option. For a brighter future, food def needs a revamp, or a new chef.
We made a reservation in advance, but less than 90 minutes after sitting down, we were told we needed to leave our table for the next group. There were only 3 of us and there were plenty of tables open. We would have loved to get one more cocktail.Food was overpriced and management / hostesses were very rude and snobby for no reason, but our waiter was nice. If you’re looking for Asian cuisine with great ambiance, go to Budakhan instead. For the same price as sharing two rolls here, you can get an entire tasting menu and everyone there is nice and polite. Don’t waste your time or money here.
It was a very cool nightclub kind of atmosphere but food was way overpriced for the smallest portions I’ve ever had at a restaurant and was below average. Staff were really friendly, but service was nonexistent. Wanted to love it but you could honestly find somewhere else that actually fills your stomach for 1/3 of the price :(
If youre looking for a bougie dinner in the city, this is it!!Heads up - theyre booked up EVERY weekend so make your reservations in advance or on a weekday otherwise youre not getting in.The highlights were definitely the lamb shank, wagyu crispy rice, and mandarin dessert (which Ive seen all over Instagram)But if youre REALLY looking to splurge, the Kamchatka Crab is INSANE Ours was 12 pounds and absolutely delicious!!!!!
The restaurant is cool, but the ambiance isn’t that spectacular if you compare it to restaurants in this genre. The main reason I’m giving a 3 is because the food was bland..we tried about 15 dishes and the only item I found worth the price tag was the Amish Chicken and maybe the mushroom fried rice as well. Everything else I could get at the most basic restaurants with so much more flavor and priced correctly. The drinks were decent, some better than others. Definitely no reason to return again.
The restaurant overall is so worth going to; the service, the drinks, the food, the music is amazing! Last night I listened to the best music ever and even got up and danced after dinner. The Dj, Johnny DaMix was the highlight of the night! People were actually dancing and having fun!
Great place and cuisine, but Incredible idiocy on the part of the managers.I booked a place for 5 people for a birthday party. A holiday, you hear?! Birthday! And instead of putting me and my wife at the table, the managers offered to wait and not sit down at the table until all five people for whom the reservation was suitable. What a rude and disrespectful attitude. You book in advance and they tell you no, wait until all your friends come!
For the price of the food, I expect really good service but our waiter was very rude. Waited 40 minutes To be seated. After being seated she(Madeline) was friendly at first. Very SNOTTY ATTITUDE . Told her it was my sisters birthday which was a (little surprise) and she replied “oh I know” how do you know if we didn’t inform you. I don’t know what the hype is for an overpriced Chinese restaurant. I get better service in a Chinese take out. Will never come back. Ever.
Well the atmosphere is what you would expect for the area. I was here for dinner with some friends and I got the Korean fried chicken and I really have to say it was just ok. Nothing special! The drinks were interesting but not particularly delicious! The best thing about the night was the dj and the other patrons making for such an entertaining time!
Terrible place all around. We had reservations for my friends birthday at 10:30 and they couldn’t accommodate us on time “because the table before us had over stayed their reservation time”. Waiting to be seated we were hanging by the bar and the DJ is incredibly trash, like no idea who taught her anything she knows. The volume was insane, there’s no dancing at this restaurant so not sure why I wasn’t able to even have a conversation with my friends like normal people. Once we were seated the waiters were super unfriendly. The food came and we only had options for medium rare or well done for steak (like who only gives that option?) regardless every steak we ordered came extremely burnt and taste like charcoal with the most bland seasoning. They didn’t adjust the bill seeing that nobody finished their food and the menu is over priced for nothing. We ended with tiramisu that supposedly was for 8 people (we were 4)but came in a box that wouldn’t be enough for a 2 year old. This place is obviously open only to cater to IG photos. Do yourself a favor and waste your money on a better place.
A NYC MUST!The reservations team are super accommodating, the front door guy is literally the best, the hostesses are gorgeous and the food is OUTSTANDING! The sushi, the steak, the drinks, the mushroom fried rice and the crab was the pinnacle of our meal. (A lil pricey but worth it!)
So apparently this place is trending on the internet but do not go here if you make a reservation and actually want to eat on time. We literally waited an hour for a 10pm reservation to be seated. I mean its cute in there but Im over the trendy-ness of restaurants...bring back good food and great customer service. Their go to is head to the bar while we get your table ready but I already had a similar experience 3 weeks prior at catch so I waited by the host. I dont have the desire to go back unless I was around the area after work for drinks. Not for a birthday dinner ever again.
A party of three of us went last Saturday. We split the bill three ways paying cash and card. They took the $200 cash as a tip and charged my card the full amount of the bill on Monday. Mind you on Saturday they charged the accurate amount of $100. I called at which I was informed to send and email to reservation. I did everyday since Monday at which no one got back to me via email or phone. I’m very disappointed as I was ripped off.
I went here one time and the hostess said to wait 15 min for our table and if we would like we can wait at the bar. We wait at the bar over an hour we kept asking the hostess how long for our table she kept saying 15 min ended up never getting a table. She was sitting other people before us and one of the people were wearing sweat pants. Then every time we tried to ask she would roll her eyes and say we didn’t have a table. The hostess was so rude to me and my date. As we were waiting by the bar the waitress kept saying you can’t eat here you can’t sit here and kept moving us around. We ended up waiting at the bar. We got the bill and we didn’t even want to leave a tip we left a 15% tip and she pics up the check and goes that’s it? Like excuse me be happy after the rudeness we have recieved and the way she kept saying you can’t sit here and moving us around the bar. Never again and the food was terrible we ordered the tomahawk steak the sauce did not compliment. The crispy noodles tasted like leftover Chinese and the sushi was so stinky tasted old. Worst restituant not worth it. Tao downtown is sooooo much better and the ambience and servers so much better than Buddha. Never again I was so disappointed with the service and the food.
Ive been to Buddha bar a few times and last time was so horrible that itll be my last. lets start with the service! We waited 32 minutes for a glass of wine ! I ended up getting up and saying something to the tall lady seems to be the floor manager. We ordered wagu steak roll they brought us skirt steak we sent it back. when they brought out the wagu roll the wagu on it was so chewy I ended up spitting it out.Ive been there before and had that roll I truly have a feeling they put pieces of skirt steak we sent back as wagu chunks on that roll. Very disapointed. Its a beautiful restaurant but service and food needs improving
Unfortunately we did not have a good experience as we had to wait over 1.5 hours for our table and then we only got a table as made it very clear we were not happy. What made it even worse was the service at the bar was very slow because they were so busy. So it was very difficult to even get a drink whilst we were waiting for the table. Once we sat down the service and the food was excellent and the atmosphere and music was also great.
Came here 2 months ago and loved it, told all my friends to come and couldn’t wait to be back but unfortunately I have to write a 1 star review because of the terrible experience I had when I came to this establishment 2 days ago on a Saturday night.Ambiance and drinks were good but the service was absolutely horrendous. The male hostess at the front was the most rude person to ever work in the service industry.Him and the other 2 hostesses were the most cold and unapologetic people I’ve ever met.We had a reservation at 10pm and after waiting for 45 minutes and simply voicing our frustrations and asking them why everyone was seated and we haven’t seated after 45 min we were met with attitude and hostility AS IF WE WERE AT FAULT.There was a woman there who was also fighting with him saying that she was there for 2 HOURS and spent over $300 at the bar and they still did not have her table ready that she reserved 2 weeks in advance. The male host’s response was “speak to my manager” who btw after another 30 minutes did not come down and was no where to be found.Ended up leaving with a sour taste in our mouth and the most disrespectful service we’ve ever received. Stay away
Please save your money and don’t waste any of it here. From the moment you walk in and you hear the DJ playing music that can only be her living out her dream as a Miami dj from 2003. Music was soooooooooo bad and obnoxiously loud. Food options are terrible. I went with 4 girls and we all ordered the steak (which btw you can only get in medium rare or well done) no other options. And before I can begin to tell the waiter how I wanted my steak prepared he went on to the next girl to ask what she would like. The staff HATESSSSSS THEIR LIFEEEEEEEEEEEE. Not a single friendly soul. The steak finally arrives (half of us ordered well done and the other half medium rare) , but you guessed it . All the steaks looked exactly the same. AND WAS NOT GOOD AT ALLLL. Still trying to salvage the night, we ordered the tiramisu which according to the menu served 8 and we were 4 girls. The cake comes in a box that’s less than 2in by 2in. Idk how that was supposed to even feed us 4 but whatever. The bill was atrocious considering no one finished even half their steak . Please do yourself the favor and just go to Tao or somewhere else .
We had a reservation for 9:30 and waited for our table for over an hour and a half. Constantly told us it would be 5 min and ended up being over 20 min till we had to remind them. Once we decided to leave, the manager - tall bald guy - , said it’s our loss that we’re leaving and smiled. His attitude was terrible and the bartenders only go to the highest tippers. I ordered a drink and waited 10 min for each to come out while watching the bartender hand out drinks to people who ordered after me. The place looks great but everyone who works there has a massive ego/power trip and is bribed by the highest payer. Absolute joke of a restaurant.
The dark ambience upon arrival set the tone for what kind of night you can have at Buddha Bar. The warm welcome of the hostess paired with the professionalism of the staff really is the foundation of a good establishment. The service here is great I never found myself longing for something, drinks and food came within a reasonable time. It’s hard not to fall in love with the decor and how aesthetically pleasing the interior is. Unfortunately I feel like the food wasn’t worth the price. Presentation was on par but the food didn’t taste as good as it looks.
A classy experience. Great ambiance, fab drinks & commensurate music you want to hear in a lively environment. Food is a good fusion of flavors but maybe is trying too hard. My one request is to tie the reservation time to actual seating. We waited over an hour past our reservation to be seated. If there is a credit card deposit to secure a reservation, there should be punctuality on the restaurant’s part.
I reserved to celebrate my husbands birthday. I reserved by mistake on the sushi counter instead of the main dining room which was not what we were expecting, while I understand it was my mistake I asked to be move to a table and the manager denied it, supposedly there was nothing available, however the whole time we stayed there were tables for two available. We were already seated and we are very polite so decided to eat something quick and leave as soon as possible. Upon leaving, we realized there was another couple about to be seated in the sushi counter area but they complained and were moved to the dining room which I thought was not fair, whether was the restaurants mistake or not I complained to the manager and what I received was straight attitude.Food was great and we wanted to order more but were uncomfortable and decided to go to another restaurant, and we were seated with no issues without a reservation.
My husband and I have dined here about twice now with friends. We absolutely can’t get enough of this place. From the time we enter to the time we leave, Buddha-Bar gives us exactly what we expect. The staff is attentive, the food is amazing. We’ve booked our reservations over the phone and the team is amazing. They are very informative and have no issue getting an answer back. We live over on Vestry so it’s nice to walk and talk. Keep up the amazing work!
I love New York, Ive eaten in most of the popular restaurants. This restaurant is my worst experience dining in NY, I had a 8:30 reservation, the hostess was beyond rude, and I had to wait 45 mins to be seated... then the terrible service continued, I ordered the fry chicken, it came out , I cut it ... blood started running out the chicken 🤢 .... let just say that was not the worst part of my experience there ... I will never go back...
Last Saturday we celebrate a birthday at the Buddha Bar.Such a great experience.Great food and atmosphere.Their event manager makes the whole booking process so easy and smooth. She was so helpful and even organize flowers on the table.Greatly recommend Buddha Bar if you want to have memorable celebration
The five stars only for the hospitality and decor. Food is mediocre as I don’t know what are they trying to do with it.? There is nothing special about the food. I might go again but may be just to sit in, have drinks and enjoy the decor. Definitely not for the food. I mean you can definitely take someone if you just want to impress them with the decor but not for the food.I hope they can work on their Menu and bring the food to the level where i can keep going back for the food only.
Great ambience and design. Cocktails were spot on. My only issue was that ordering a main dish for~50-80 dollars you would expect to have some sides...unfortunately you need to order them separately. I wish that our waiter would have told us that before our order arrived(also could be that we missed that point). Food was very good although the main dish sizes were way too small...after spending $300 on food and drinks for two we still felt hungry
I dont usually write reviews, but the service here was so bad that I had to. I went here with friends for a dinner this weekend, and was appalled by the service. Our service was very rude and inattentive, as we waited about 25 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them, and another 25 minutes while waiting for the check. We were seated next to the door, and the cold Winter air kept coming in. Since the restaurant made us check our coats, we were freezing all dinner. We asked the hostess twice to move us to a different table, but she ignored the requests. Oh, and they charged us $33 for still water that we didnt order. The food was delicious, and the restaurant had an overall nice ambience, but for a restaurant that expensive, we hoped the service wouldve been spectacular (which it wasnt.) Food was the only reason I give this place 2/5 stars instead of 0/5.
Absolutely incredible experience at Buddha bar. Food was beyond excellent as you can see in the photos below they were prepared by a chef who won the show “Chopped” in addition to the ambience and setting being perfect for a phenomenal dinner. I will be back here again and again as should you all!
They expected us to take our coats off and check it in and we were NOT allowed to keep them on. Poor policy. We walked out within 5 minutes. Did not think it was worth our time. The front desk male receptionist seemed a bit cocky with no eye contact. I will not even attempt to go back.
The guy at reception was rude and sarcastic. Instead of being inviting, he gave off very I’m annoyed with you energy. A party came in after us and he seated them first. He set the tone for the entire night. The server was clearly sad, as she never smiled or answered questions in a warm tone. She would disappear for long periods of time. I wanted to get another drink or dessert considering I made this reservation to bring in my birthday. However, after noticing the energy around from workers, I decided not to waste any more time or money here. The big Buddha in the dining room was just ironic. Beautiful place. Terrible service.
The food was pretty good, and the service was pretty good, but “pretty good” isn’t good enough for the outrageous prices. If it weren’t for the incredible atmosphere and music, we would not have enjoyed ourselves. The octopus (on the skewers) was chewy like rubber and the mushroom bao bun was undercooked and distasteful. Thank you for having the decency to at least remove them from the bill. Some foods were delicious, though, especially the roast duck main course. The waitress could be a little more warm-spirited. She also took two of our dessert orders and then briskly walked away from the table without taking everyone else’s dessert orders. (Also FYI, food is supposed to be placed from the left, and taken from the right). And we all ran out of water. There really wasn’t anything to justify the prices. We had better food at Mr. Chows and Sen Sakana for maybe a little over half the price.
First let’s start with the convenience of the location, giving you access to the Holland Tunnel within minutes! Now to the moment you walk in... the ambiance is alluring from the moment you walk through the door!! The aroma is divine and the staff is pleasantly inviting. As you wait for your table you can make your way upstairs to the bar that is staffed by some of New York’s best mixologists who present you with beverages you truly won’t see anywhere else and the kicker is, they taste just as good as they look!!!Once you are seated, the waiting staff greats with excitement and a smile. The staff is clearly educated on the menu and are eager to provide you with a memorable experience. Now the food. Just WOW! The presentation, the taste, and the quality all make for a meal you simply don’t come across everyday! Hats off to the chef because we could feel our tastebuds dancing each bite leaving you always wanting more! And then to top off the exotics drinks, exquisite food, end your experience with one, If not all, of their desserts! You won’t regret it!!!!All in all Buddha Bar New York has officially brought desire and authenticity back into the city we all know and love!!! Whether it’s a night out with the girls, a date night, celebration, or you’re desiring an evening where you feel like you’re somewhere else.... do yourself a favor and reserve a table because you’re not going to want to miss this!!!!
Very poor experience. I have never felt so disrespected from a hospitality group and their staff. After trying to reach the GM for almost 40 minutes, he never returned after promising to address why we hadn’t been seated for over an hour. When I left I tried speaking to the host about the fact that I was upset they didn’t do anything to try to seat us. He told me that it wasn’t his fault and that he grew up in a bad neighborhood and shouldn’t have to deal with this.I hope they revisit their staffing and operations and ensure that their customer experience is entirely transformed.
The male hostess was extremely rude. As was the male manager who resolved the reservation issue with the hostess but then did not say another word to us the rest of the evening. I have never been treated so disrespectful in my life. My favorite part was the complimentary drinks which they charged me for. If they continue this way, they won’t stay open long. Extremely disappointed and would not suggest coming here.
At first when getting out of the taxi, you think - is this the correct address??... The building does not immediately resemble the lively music and chic crowed inside. A friendly large doorman welcomes you inside. The team of hosts are similarly dressed in modern suits and dresses. There is a coat check. There are multiple levels, a dj and loud worldly beats, a huge glass Buddha statue. There is also very good (albeit expensive) pan-asian fusion. Whole head-on prawn spring rolls with spicy sweet sauce. Duck and fois gras dumplings. Sashimi and sushi rolls bigger than I have ever seen. Savory veggie fried rice. The list goes on. Server was supper attentive, professional and patient. Had good time.
The Duck foie gras dumplings tasted like straight flour. Their red sunset cocktail was made inconsistently—tasted different each time. The waygu skirt steak was passable but not worth $70 especially compared to anything you can get at Nobu. The worst restaurant I’ve been to in years.
I don’t usually write reviews but having lived in New York for the better part of 30 years - this type of place represents the lamest part of the city - grotesquely priced mediocre food where touristsCome to take social media pictures. My wife and her friends wanted to check out the “new hot neighborhood place” - we ended up eating elsewhere after spending nearly 200$ for semi souped-up sushi served by people with major attitudes.
Great food and atmosphere but horrible service and attitude. They made me wait 40 minutes after checking in for table. Manager laughed and told me thats normal . They brought every dish we ordered to the table at the same time. One dish that we didnt and didnt eat anything but the first bite , waitress never checked on us the whole meal , or every questioned why we ate none of it .
Honestly, I have dined in the finest places from Japan to Oslo, Dubai, Paris . .this is far and above any dining experience. Its not just the insane, state of the art cuisine. It is the culmination of frequency, architecture, acoustics and vibration of life that emanates throughout the physical space and enters your body. Its special here. The place in its entirety is a masterpiece. I caught some feelings at Buddha Bar and everyone who enters will know what I mean upon entering.
I was expecting more. The design is amazing, the dj was ok. The food was standard for these kinds of places nothing exciting, the ceviche over dressed, not subtle at all. The sushi and scallops were very good. But most of all the service was just odd - drinks took forever and a lot of staff had a not my job response for requests or questions. Ill give them another try in a few months when theyve settled in. For now, it feels like theres room for improvement.
Great atmosphere but the food quality is awful. Service is good. Such a shame for a place like this to have such tasteless and horrible food..Unbelievable overpriced dinner. Its understandable to charge so much when the quality is good, but for NYC this is inexcusable. Never again!unlike the other reviews this one is real !
I had a horrible experience here. I am a blogger and had been planning to eat here for my boyfriends birthday for over 2 weeks. I came from another state and We were told he couldn’t wear shorts at the door but we booked through open table and a dress code was not specified. The manager Ruiz was extremely nasty about it as he walked out in sneakers! We watched multiple people who were not black walk out with some sort of athletic clothing on. This is unacceptable and unfortunately we won’t be visiting here again. If you’re brown or black this place isn’t for you! They do not like us!
Beautiful restaurant food is good! BUT, shocking at this time Restaurant had NO Covid Policy. No Vaccine Proof was requested which every good restaurant in NY requires. No waiters wore Masks, restaurant is all Indoors. Asked the server and she said Management doesn’t listen to US!!! Shockingly irresponsible behavior in these times.
We had a reservation here for my fiancé’s birthday here. The reservation was delayed by more than an hour and the staff and management were not at all apologetic or professional. Worst experience I’ve ever had in New York City in my 23 years living here.PS we already emailed management several times and they have not responded
Fabulous ambiance and decor, some of the best music in town, really nice staff from the time you call to make a reservation all the way till youre still outside waiting for your cab. Oh, and the cocktail team behind the bar is crème de la crème! They will give you such a welcoming, fun, personalized experience, youll feel at your friends home! Add to this, they recruited the best of the best to make your cocktails, our favorites are on the menu but also improvised (even for mocktails as I dont drink alcohol)! Just not a dining night out, quite an experience all the way for the quality of everyone working there! Well be back very soon!
The food was mediocre, but the total bill that day was $800, which was not expensive to me because of the good service, nice location and quiet luxurious atmosphere. However, the manager there is very friendly with Asians like me :)) 1 star for you to say goodbye. Theres no shortage of good restaurants in New York, just people who lack sophistication. BYE!! @Sennhithu

2022-05-26Been there on Monday night for my friends birthday dinner. The decor inside is so incredible, chic and cozy. I was really impressed and couldn’t get enough enjoying the vibes. Drink is really good and well decorated. I’m not very into their food, so we just ordered appetizer, drink and dessert.Service is also excellent, friendly and helpful.I put 4 stars because of the hostess, the lady is pretty rude to our group.

2022-01-03Pictures dont do this justice! The decor is so incredibly breathtaking that you have to see it in person. The vibe is also very chill and laid-back. I loved the music, although they do raise the volume at around 9pm, so its a bit hard to have a conversation. Food was excellent and portions were bigger than I expected. I had the mushroom BAO bun and a roll of sushi which were more than enough. For dessert I had to try the mandarin! Everything was delicious! After supper, a few of us had a cocktail in the lounge. Great vibe there as well! This is a lovely place for a night out!

2022-07-07Highly recommend! Food is very good, cocktails are great and the service was on point as well. The scallion noodles are a must, truffle tuna roll was very good and the fried rice with mushroom and truffle was great as well. The lamb chop was fall off the bone and I recommend trying that too. We will be back.

2022-05-31The service was 10/10. The ambience was 10/10. Wild mushrooms fried rice was delicious. Soft shell crab bun was excellent. A5 wagu crispy rice was average. Cocktails 10/10. So the reason for my 3 stars came down to the price. Food is over priced for average tasting food.

2022-05-11This is a stylish and fun restaurant for drinks and food either for a date or a girls night out. You are encouraged to order multiple dishes and share family style. The food was very expensive and subpar. The sushi was particularly disappointing - $50+ for spicy tuna with additional tuna and caviar on top. It sounded amazing, but honestly I couldn’t stomach more than 1 bite. The cocktails were delicious and legit but didn’t make up for the poor food. I would def come back for drinks!

2022-06-29My lady and I had our Anniversary dinner here last Friday. We were racking our brains trying to figure out a place and decided on here. We arrived a little late, but I called ahead and they were very accommodating. Upon entering, the ambiance and setting is beautiful. We were sat quickly and our waiter came just as fast. It took us a few minutes to settle in before we started ordering. For drinks, we had the Serenity and Million $ man. Both well crafted cocktails. For appetizers, we had the Korean Fried Chicken and Soft Shell Crab Bao Buns. Initially we thought it was going to be wings, but it was full fledged chicken. The chicken was almost too crispy, but it was very juicy. The sauces that came with it were tasty as well. The Bao buns were delicious. For the main course, we ordered the duck breast, halibut & white curry, and pineapple fried rice. It was my first time having duck and it was great. Gamey but tender, juicy and succulent. My lady had the Halibut & white curry. It was ok, just needed more flavor and seasoning. The white curry was different, so it took a little adjusting to. The pineapple fried rice was decent. Overall, it was a fine experience here. We were pretty satisfied celebrating here, and look forward to coming back down the line.

2022-06-13Beautiful spot. No expense spared on decor and ambiance.Food is lackluster. For the price food experience should be top notch. A birthday dinner for a friend left me underwhelmed and annoyed. I want ALL dishes to be PERFECT. Cocktails were great to me but the apps and mains were hit or miss. Snapper is a must. Presentation alone is wonderful….taste is on point. It was downhill from there for me. Skirt steak is very nope…as are crispy scallion noodles and wild mushroom fried rice….lamb shank may be good but it came out lukewarm and totally spoiled the experience….its a restaurant and NOBODY WANT WARM FOOD. My steak and noodles were warm as well…almost cold. The only hot dish was the crab noodles. Kale/napa salad was overwhelmed with dressings…definitely not a healthy salad…and not particularly tasty. I ordered my steak very well done and it was not. Beyond annoying. I don’t eat pink meat. There were two steak orders and although we asked waiter if mine was well done (to which he said both are) it was not. A day too late I found out a dinner mate in fact had my well done order…annoying when waiter assured me the plate in front of me was well done. I asked as did my friend as he knows how much I do not do pink meat. Its very dark so seeing your food clearly is another nope.If I pay a lot for a meal it should be perfection. Dinner here was not. Even the Korean fried chicken was very basic at 29.00 for 3 small pieces…..my steak was raw and just not good…packed it up and broiled it to my liking the next day…flavor still wasnt there….the mango dessert was tasty tho…so I would possibly return for snapper, kiwi cocktail and mango dessert which was hitting. And ambiance.Maybe.I told a host about the warm food and he said he would keep it in mind but didn’t even extend an apology. That was a huge turnoff. Have grace and apologize for shortcomings on such a basic expectation.I may return but I’m certainly not in a rush…especially when they have suck lackluster performance while charging 120.00 for the only dish I want. Zero desire to roll the dice. Let the food be as perfect as the ambiance. And if a client says well done dont put pink meat in front if them. I don’t care how most eat steak…I don’t like any raw meat. Full stop.Pics show the meat served to me….and how easy it was to simply broil it longer as I did at home…still was very meh…tasteless and gummy.

2022-03-02For the price of the food, I expect really good service but our waiter was very rude. He was friendly at first, after we place our order— he said with such a SNOTTY ATTITUDE “I can tell you what you order is not enough”. We asked to keep one menu by the table—maybe for add ons. He said there’s no add ons in between- once the order is put in—that’s what you’re getting. And he ignored us the rest of the night. We have to wave someone else to get the check. I don’t know what the hype is for an overpriced Chinese restaurant. I get better service in a Chinese take out.
