My wife and I are non smokers and when we picked the Ford explorer up and open the door it smell really bad .We specifically asked for a non smoking vehicle. The flight was late landing and there was someone there waiting for us. We were thankful someone was at the counter however we were extremely unhappy.
While my experience at the pickup and drop off location was excellent, when I needed to extend my rental the customer service at the 800 number was absolutely aweful. They were rude and tried to lied about the new rate then when I called them out on the discrepancy they hung up on me. Upon calling back I was ty old to dispute the charges with my bank. Additionally, I returned my car early and was still billed the full price.
Picked up the vehicle the day I needed to leave. Was on a time crunch, places to be at certain times. Vehicle had STRONG presence of cigarette and possibly marijuana smoke. When the AC was turned on it got worse. I sat in passenger front seat and sneezed and itchy nose the entire 17 hour trip. I wiped the entire car down with wipes before we left. sprayed air freshener frequently. It did not work. Called Budget the first day while driving to report the strong, unbearable smell. All our clothing and belongings packed in the back smell like smoke it was that bad. Rep looked in computer and told me to stop at a specific budget in Fl and gave me the address to the place saying they had a vehicle to swap out on Tuesday. I drove out of my way Tuesday and spent about an hour waiting for the person working the desk at budget in Kissimee fl (someone told me the front desk person was out back cleaning cars that had just been dropped off- so the front desk rep is now the detailer as well?) After waiting :30 min for the rep to come to the desk I explained my story and told her I was put in the system and told to pick up a car at her space. She told me she had no cars, and to go to the airport to pick up a car (more time and effort and money out of my day I am spending messing with a rental car instead of being with my ). I just didnt have time in my agenda to spend trying to switch cars....so my family of 5 was in a smokey car for 10 days travelling 17 hours down, 17 hours back and many hours in between. I dropped off the car yesterday and explained to the lady the issue. (hoping she didnt put that car back into fleet for the next non smoking family to have to deal with what we did). Smoking cars should be for smokers. non-smoking for non. just like hotel rooms. the last thing I need to be doing during COVID is sneezing and itchy nose because of a rental car.....lady at desk when I dropped off told me theres nothing she can do and gave me a number to call...I will update the review to see if Budget customer care/satisfaction exists...I have 2 possibly a 3rd car rental reservations this summer....
The staff are great! Very friendly and always have my vehicle ready for me. I like the prices for the rental cars as well. They definitely beat enterprise whom I switch to Budget from because as often as I rent cars I felt like I could’ve been getting better prices and would be a little more appreciated for being a very frequent customer but they didn’t have the kind of deals as budget and I was getting great coupons and promo deals from budget up until recently that is. I have to say that is one thing I miss that budget has not been doing lately is giving me coupon or promo codes and as often as I have been renting cars from them I am getting disappointed. I signed up for what was supposed to be deals in my inbox and I get my reciepts sent to me and this survey but I am wondering why I signed up to get promised promotions yet have not gotten any so I hope it’s not that it was a promise turned into selling my email thing. I have rented cars from budget all year so far as I rent 2wks at a time and pick up new as I drop off one and I depend on coupons and codes for that but have to spend hours searching for the good deals so I’m not sure if I’m going to be renting as often anymore but I do enjoy having the opportunity to drive different vehicles.
Aaron or Adam (Im terrible with my short term memory) the manager was very empathetic to my issue and was way better than the other individuals that are at the customer service 1-800 hundred number. He needs to be recognized. I was going to be running late on my 12 p.m. return time and he didnt even miss a beat trying to help me. Even asked about my personal car and what was going on to let me vent. He deserves kudos!
The car was very disappointing. There were burn holes in the seat. It smelled very strong of something. I am guessing some kind of spray they use to clean. I couldnt even have the windows rolled up because it made me sick. There was a warning light on from the time I picked it up until I returned it. I have never used budget before this and it is unlikely I would want to use them again.
I unfortunately experienced a rock from a dump truck star the windshield on my rental. When I returned, the counter rep had me fill out a report and took my insurance info. I have full glass coverage through my insu company. I thought it was a done deal according to her. A little over a my later I receive a statement that I was charged over $300 for the windshield repair. I called my insurance, they were not made aware, apparently I should have filed the claim with them. I contacted the glass repair company and according to them it would have cost $105 out of pocket to fix. Furthermore, Budget is difficult at best to help resolve the issue. Fyi, budget outsources glass and tire damage/issues and that company (I forget name) constantly sends me back to budget for help. I go round and round and round. I rent 8-10 times a year, this will be the last with Budget and Avis. Fortunately at this point, my insurance requested a copy of the invoice and is going to reimburse me, as they too have had zero luck at tracking down the claim. Pretty sad when even the glass company would have charged me $105 vs the $317 charged by budget/avis. I would also recommend NOT trusting what the counter personal tell you!
The staff at the Elmira NY location is outstanding !! We had a blast in the upgrade they told us about!Update information 10/20/21: Elmira Airport , Allegiant Air and Rental Car services all need to be on the same page. Allegiant has late flights which dont get in until after 8 pm, the rental car places either close at 5 pm or at 8 pm, which makes it difficult to rent a car if your flights lands at 8:30 pm. If you live in the area, ok you get a ride but if you DO NOT.. You cant come back the next day for a car , if you are there for a family vacation, well you could if you plan on sleeping at the airport.
Aaron at the elmira regional airport budget was outstanding, he personally called me when I missed my connecting flight to Elmira, which was going to arrive after closing and assisted me in getting my rental so that I could get my 80yr old mother home. Excellent customer service.
Customer service is awful. The car was full of flies, dirty, and out of washer fluid. The windshield wipers hardly worked and I rented the car while it was down pouring rain the days I had it. Ive contacted customer service for a refund. But nothing has changed. Poor customer service and back and fourth between myself and the rental company using the BBB. This place is a joke. Ill be taking my business to enterprise from now on!!!
I had made two reservations and the employee, the first time, said that I could make the reservation if I had someone with better credit. So we come back the next day, with someone who has better credit (my father) and they turn us away AGAIN. Now we both have to wait 3-7 business days for both reservations. So we wasted over $100 trying to get this fixed. I wouldnt recommend using this service to anyone.
You need to be specific that you dont take bank card once you get to the counter even after the fact that you took money out of the account already. NO WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT ON LINE ONCE YOU CONFIRM ORDER OR IN CONFORMATION EMAIL OR TEXT. Nor do you take cash. bull not every one has credit cards. only give 1 star cuz have too.
Nobody else in terminal and I had to wait. Competing rental car associate had to call to find the Budget associate who said it would be 10 minutes and that turned into 20. When my wife reserved car two weeks prior she chose Sirius/XM as an option. When she printed out the contract it didn’t have it on so I asked and got “ok I’ll add it”. She gave me the keys and paperwork and I asked “isn’t there instructions I get to activate Sirius/XM?” She looked at me funny. I said I’ve rented plenty of vehicles and have been given instructions to activate. She began looking in drawers and under papers then found a channel card with instructions. I took it, found the car and low and behold the vehicle I was given did not have satellite radio as an option. I was on a time schedule and did not want to fight this any longer so I took as is. When I returned the vehicle and told the same associate she could of cared less!
Super easy to work with and absolutely no complaints! The entire Elmia Airport crew (Jessie, Amanda, and Frank) provided truly first class customer service. Previously I used Brand H exclusively, but based on my interactions with these folks, Ill not hesitate to try Budget again in the future. It was a truly nice experience (just make sure you check their hours if your flight arrives after 9:00 PM).

2022-04-12I have rented from Budge several times, while the first car was filthy, I took it anyway because it was the last car they had. Second time, no gas, and well I could go on and on. Logging into their website to verify SUCKS with a big S. It took 12 minutes to get a code to get in, I asked to text, I asked to email. Listen, with the money your spending, speed up you computers.

2022-06-30Exactly what I wanted. The car was clean. Melissa was efficient and knowledgeable. She went above and beyond because I forgot items in the car; but she made sure everything was returned to me the same day. Im very impressed with Budget, and I will absolutely rent from this company again.

2022-06-28Always pay attention to charges! They charged card the wrong amount had to email corporate for them to fix it but then they charged the card an additional $600. Fortunately have the agreement and final closed statement to show corporate and the card company just a pain cause have to wait to get it back after they screwed up! Horrible experience never again Budget

2022-07-10Worst customer service rep I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with. Refused our free upgrade and then acted like we were idiots because we didn’t know about a wine trail event locally. This person should not be in a customer facing position. Whoever runs that place should be ashamed off who they’re putting at the counterEdit to add: She is also either incapable or unwilling to do any part of her job. We were told at least three times to call corporate and heard her tell an elderly gentleman in front of us unfamiliar with the process the same

2022-02-20Theyre charge me 210$ for the rent a car online.When I came to pick up car- lady on frontdesk said I have to pay more 250$ and only from my credit card. Im ready to pay this deposit from my debit card,but she said no. Now Im in the middle of nowhere, with no money, because theyre charge me and I paid them online before. In small airport in frizing winter time. Theyre will return my money in 3-10 bisseness days,but what should I do now. I tried to call costumer service,Some lady was almost said dfuck you,it is your problem.

2021-04-23It was a very good value. A good car but, it did smell like old Burger King, pot and cigarette smoke. The young lady at the time of pickup was not rude but, very indifferent and she knew she had the power of making me wait. The staff at the time of dropoff was very polite and friendly after waiting ten minutes to get their attention. I finally had to walk into the office. They knew I was there and just kept on talking with each other. Other than that....it was a good car but, it also said that at 10K it needed to be serviced.

2021-08-22I rented a SUV for 12 day vacation. On my 3rd day I received a call my son had died. I obviously cancelled the rest of my vacation and returned my rental to airport and flew home. Once home looking at my receipt from Budget I saw you had charged me $ 581.32 for 3.5 days of rental out of a total of $777.11 PREPAID! And it appears you charged me for an additional driver which I wanted but they did not have a major credit card so they were never added to the rental. That showing some real compassion for the loss of my son. The total you charged me for a few days of use would make the old Mafia blush! I dont expect to receive a response to this comment but it would be nice.

2021-08-27They tried giving us expired tags so we got a different car and then this car we realized a little too late that the inspection is expired and the tags expire in like four days! We got out there to the car lot and we were taking pictures of the car so any damages that are already there we dont get held responsible for and walking around it we noticed the tags were Florida plates and they said June of 21 🤦🏻♀️like way to ASK for us to just get pulled over. So you give us one with expired tags, okay, frowned upon but not THAT big of a deal i guess just get a new one... and then the NEXT one they give us similar to the one we wanted (but absolutely not the car rental we wanted 😑) is not legal to either technically. But now we are running behind schedule so we just went. Im definitely getting some sort of refund.
