Party of 10...Everyone was satisfied with the friendly reception, great food, efficient waitress and reasonable prices. It was by sheer circumstance that we ended up at Buds Place. All agreed a most delicious happenstance. (Being long standing Donolis customers, we now have found a nearby gem).
Excellent food, but a tad pricey. Staff is courteous and attentive, environment is perfect. Only negative is they are cash or check only, no debit or CC, which is weird in todays business environment, although they do have an ATM on site. Will go back for sure, along with cash.
Ive been going to Buds for 30 years. Anything you order there will be delicious. I am a fan of the crab stuffed orange roughy, and it draws me there about once a month to quench the craving. It is a lovely, comfortable atmosphere, you can dress up or wear your jeans. You can bring the kids. The staff is very attentive, they serve courses at the appropriate time, not too soon, and they dont make you wait. Hands down my favorite restaurant in the area.
Buds Place is my favorite! The food is tremendous as well as the overall atmosphere. Its important for me to feel comfortable at a restaurant and buds delivers on this. Not to mention the wait for food is short and the staff is some of the best Ive seen. If you want to have a fun time with friends and family with good food I highly recommend this restaurant.- Christopher
My Husband & I went here for Valentines Day. Although it took a while to get our dinner ( understandably as the place filled up, Covid style, really fast), our server kept us informed & checked on us continually. We never felt like we placed our order & then was ignored. The food was PHANOMENAL !!
Since the remodel, the place looks really nice. We had the prime rib special and homemade spaghetti and meatballs. Both did not disappoint. We also got a hot pie to go, which is always good here. The service was friendly and prompt. We were happy with the experience, as usual.
Never had a bad meal here, everPizza is one of the best in the county. Marinated chicken is a close runner up. Had the delmonico steak open faced special this evening and was out of this world. Always clean, extremely friendly and easy going wait staff that take good care of the kids needs. Worth the drive every time.
I wanted to take myself out to dinner the other night. I went to a local restaurant that is a bit upscale and they had adjusted their menu for graduation weekend; to prices that were unreasonable. I decided to head down the road to a place called Buds place; that had been referred to me some years ago. I have to say I was very impressed overall. When I walked in it felt professional, clean, warm and comfortable. The service was impeccable, and the staff were extremely friendly with one another. The food was delicious, the prices were reasonable and I took some home for my son. I enjoyed the interactions I had with staff, the food and the atmosphere! I will definitely be making this one of my regular spots!
Ive been going to Buds since I was young. My daughters very first outing, almost 22 years ago, was to Buds. Tom, the owner, recently did a nice renovation. Heres the thing, back in the day we would go once or twice a week. We knew all the waitresses and the prices were very good for the area. Lately, there seems to be more turnover and the waitresses dont seem as engaged with the small, but very loyal, clientele. Some dont even smile, which is quite different than even a couple years ago. I can personally attest to it being a very hard job, but since this is a rather local business, Im surprised they dont at least try. The last time we visited, we waited to be seated (3/4 of the restaurant was empty because it was early) and, although staff passed us, nobody seated us for about 5 minutes. Very odd. Also, the prices of the specials have increased significantly. I know that food prices have risen, but my beloved foods are no longer competitive with area restaurants. Im a bit nostalgic when it comes to Buds, thats why Im giving them 4 stars, but we only visit once every three to four months at this point.
I love their food! Prices have gone up, but thats expected at every restaurant in the area lately. Its very loud inside, which makes it difficult to hold a conversation. Would prefer take out, but we live too far away. Wish they would add some more sound buffers. Its not good for large parties because they can only accommodate long narrow tables, so you can only talk to the people right next to you or across the table.
Beautiful casual atmosphere and wonderful food. This place captures a casual Italian home style and provides comfort to all the patrons who visit. The staff all do their absolute best to make sure that the customers are 100% satisfied even the dishwashers bust their butts to make sure every single dish is spotless and clean. The cooks move as fast and as safely as possible to get food out to perfection and order. The waitresses deal with the extreme stresses of having to coordinate with each other to make sure people get their food in an orderly fashion and in the best way they can think of giving it to the customers. The food is definitely worth the price because you get a lot for what you pay for and if you get the spaghetti, I recommend opting for the homemade. For dessert? The peanut butter pie is rich and amazing.
I may be a bit biased being the owner’s daughter and all, but honestly, the food is always cooked perfect, after 36 years of eating here I’m still not tired of it!!! The kitchen is always clean, as well as the workers!! The chicken Milanese, Steak Milanese and Chicken Parm are my absolute favorites!!!
Went in around 6 pm on a Saturday, hoping to still have prime rib. It was listed on the board of specials. We were greeted by a pleasant women and seated in the bar area with menus, and told our server would be right over. Had more then enough time to look over the menu, even changed my mind a couple times while waiting, as they do have a large menu of yummy sounding dishes.A good ten minutes and we were finally offered to put in our drink order. We said we were also ready to order dinner. The server asked if wed seen the board with specials and we said we had. She then said they were actually out of the prime rib. Not the end of the world, not it would be nice if on the board it was erased or a line drawn through... Just some way to indicate it was no longer available. The server said shed grab our drinks (two bottled beers) and be right back to take our order since we needed to choose another entree. A good ten or more minutes went by, though, and still no sign of our server. Not in our nature to leave after placing any order at all, but since we could see that the beers hadnt been taken out of the cooler, therefore unopened, we did leave.Hopefully it was just an off night or something, but unfortunately was a waste of our time.
This is the second time we’ve stopped for a meal. The first time we waited and were ignored for quite some time before being greeted. However the food was good. This time two tables had already been served and we waited twelve minutes and weren’t even acknowledged. Waitresses walked past us and said absolutely nothing to us. We will not go again.
Wanted to try the prime rib as I have been told its great. Got there at a traditional dinner time and stood at the hostess station next to the sign for the Saturday night special, Prime rib. Took about five minuets before someone came up and asked if we wanted to sit and she said she had to check for a spot (restaurant was busy, but obviously empty tables here and there). She finally came back and said she had a table in the bar area only but that was fine with me. Sat us and said someone would be there soon. A waitress came up to us after at least another 5/10 mins and we said we were ready and getting the special, to which she said it was sold out (I dont think it was even six om yet). So we said we would need a minute but would each like a drink. After about ten minutes, we had not seen her again at our table, but saw her in other parts of the restaurant. Being that we were sitting at a bar table, she had pretty obviously not even tried to get us a drink yet and we decided we had enough and for the first time ever in my life, I walked out. As someone who goes out to eat way too much (multiple times a week) I think this may have been my worst customer service experience ever. Zero stars if I could.
Local spot I havent been to in awhile but thought of going to again with my husband since we saw they renovated. Well they only really renovated outside inside still way too dark with dust fake ivy everywhere. First ordered shrimp scampi. It was so rubbery it would practically bounce. Sent it back and ordered plain homemade spaghetti with meatballs. Meatballs were decent the spaghetti was overcooked and mushy. We hoped they would do better with the advertised homemade desert. We ordered key lime pie. It came out FROZEN! FROZEN! The ice crystals throughout totally ruined it. Very disappointed will not go back. Which is sad since we live so close.
First time at Buds Place this Friday at 530pm. Couldnt wait to taste their prime rib.The waitress was quite pleasant but the wait time was a bit long.Prime rib was good but served cold. Not sure if it was due to inadequate staffing for a Friday night. It was nice to get out with good friends.Atmosphere was nice.
Stopped on way through NY for dinner. Its your basic neighborhood Italian comfort food. My wife and I split a pepperoni and mushroom pizza, and a small order of pasta. Pizza crust was very good, but pizza overall was too greasy so the middle was soggy. Pasta sauce was a little too sweet for my taste. Service was very good. Beer selection included Guinness, Bass, Sam Adams and Yeungling. Price with a couple of beers came in around $30, which was reasonable.
Buds is Wonderful, just like the sign says. Tom has had the same menu for years. Why? Because it works. I believe Ive had everything on the menu over the years and still have trouble deciding what to order. The pork chop milanese over rice is one of the best things ever. And the pizza... Oh my, hard pressed to find one better. Thats why its been an Apalachin institution for over 30 years.
$97.00 dinner for 7 small side salads which consisted of iceberg lettuse tomato wedge carrot slivers and a piece of Hormel PepperonI 3 medium pizzas. 1 of them was cheese the other two pizza had two toppings. 3 sodas and 4 Miller lite beers$23 for a tip.Pizzas had 8 small slices

2022-03-12Can never eat here without having their red sauce. The minute you walk in the door, the smell is amazing. I also had their bacon and honey scallops, but they were so good I had them eaten before I got a picture!

2022-06-24Great place, great food, great staff, but.....they only take cash. Most people wouldnt know that ahead of time, and when your bill is well over $100 as our was, some people would not want to go out to their car to dig through the ash tray for change.

2022-06-23Drove all the way there only to be then informed that they take cash or check only. The ATM which they have would not take my card. I waited in line for about 5 minutes to inform them of the situation, but got tired of waiting and left. Tell the servers the dinner is on me.

2021-12-20I went to Buds Place for the first time in a long time last night and I am sorry to say I was a little disappointed..I ordered Homemade spaghetti with meatballs..The meatballs were ok and the sauce was pretty good but the pasta was terrible..It was over cooked and broken in pieces..My husband is Italian and he likes to twist his pasta. On his fork but it. Was so broken up you couldnt even get it to stay on the fork..I know for some people this probably isnt a big issue but it is for my husband It was his birthday dinner and he didnt even finish it...I also got a garlic basket which wasnt as good as it was before. I dont know why they felt like they had to change things but I liked it the way it was before..I will probably give you one more try hopefully it will be better.. Just one more thing I do want to say the service was excellent. My order was ready on time and the server was very nice..

2021-07-21Super tasty and a great value. The cheese pizza is perfection. Gnocchi and pasta made on site are fabulous. Love the veal parmigiana. Grill items kill as well. Top it off with classic cheesecake, without strawberries to let the true taste shine through.
