This library is massive and great. They have a lot of books, movies and computers. They even have a section where they hold classes and special events. I would give it a 5 stars, but 2 stars are enough for what the staff (security guards) did. I wanted to meet there with mormon missionaries, and they came and waited for me as I was finishing using the computer. When I went to talk to them, the security guards came and starting kicking them out and accusing them of proselyting (preaching and passing around bibles in the library), which they werent. They only came to meet with me. Those guards were just ignorant and very annoying. The library is a public, so I dont know how informed or educated in the law those security guards are. That is a bitter experience that changed my respect for this place.

I feel entirely at home here. The people who work there are such an amazing and passionate crowd. Im always blown away by how wonderful libraries are and what they do for local communities, but this one is especially extraordinary. Please appreciate library employees, they do so much good.
Im so grateful to be able to go back into the library! Some locations are still call-ahead/curbside pickup only. The website is helpful (once you realize you can scroll left-right for operating hours of each location). My children, ages 8 & 10, are avid readers and 3 months of online-only reading has been difficult. Were all grateful to have real books in our hands again.

This is the best library Ive ever seen. The employees and people are very courtious and welcoming. They have a great computer lab among other things. Great place to visit with the family.

Wonderful library with a great staff,I go there often and the staff has always been very kind and helpful. Theres such a variety of books to choose from and theyre organized well. The Makers Space is amazing, they have 3D printing, a tablet you can use with multiple Adobe programs, and a mutlitude of other things - you should go and check out what they have for yourself, its definitely worth it

This library is an awesome place to go to relax and escape the world, if only for a little bit. The selection of reading materials is excellent, and the media room is chock full of all kinds of media gems, be it movies or music! The staff are helpful, and the exhibits present at the library are fascinating. If you are in the Buffalo area and are looking for a good place to hide away and relax, the library has got you covered!
0 stars. Very rude staff and very unhelpful. Apparently closes 10 minutes early because they want to leave early. Very unorganized sections. So unorganized that the staff dont even know their own sections. Just point where you came from. Wont even leave the desk to help you. Lazy. Horrible library. Terrible. Will never go there again.

Decent library with something for everyone. Its unfortunate, however, that security guards have to monitor the building to crack down on drowsy patrons.
No parking. In a nutshell. No parking available. It desperately needs a free parking garage for library patrons. With electric car charging stations and micro parking spots for smart cars. And with enough clearance to fit a stretched cargo van so tradesmen can get in and out with ease.
The library is a peacefully serene place where one can think without any distractions! Its perfect for aspiring screenwriters like myself!

I like it but sometimes when I bring my daughter to the kids corner some of the librarians are rude to her but we don’t pay that no mind I just tell her to keep on playing and ignore the negativity. Our kids are the future!!!
The hours of this library is inconvenient. Theyre closed on Sundays (during the summer) and closed around the time people leave from work. Kids and adults needs access to the internet and a place to study. It is shameful that the hours of the library isnt extended to close around 10pm.
The main branch has kept me sane, engaged and entertained. My son and I spend hours at a time, often losing TRACK of time. Its an inexhaustable resource, unless one lives 300 yrs or more. PRICELESS!!
This is one of my favorite librarys to go to, I finish homework and my papers at this place because I am able to relax and focus so well. I visit this library at least 2-3 times a week.
As a foster parent I do visitations for up to two hours three times a week there are plenty of things for the little ones to do and many events.
Huge library, nice staff, and fun cafe that offers good lunch options.

I had moved to buffalo from nyc a while back and this is one of the only places i can really say i felt like home in. the amount of selection that is available is out of this world. keep up the good work buffalo and erie county libraries !

This library has limitless stacks of literature and other mediums of culture. The resources of this institution, however, are poorly advertised and unavailable during the evening.
Great selection or movies,and cds. Accessability to computers is un rivaled to and they staff is friendly,patient ,courteous and very helpful.
The people were so nice and idk why but it felt so nostalgic.

Okay place to go.
I went to print the documents. It was clean, quiet and spacious, and the staff were very polite and attentive. The internet was free for 60 minutes and there were many computers. Printing is also 10 cents per sheet, which is much cheaper than a print shop. There was also a small exhibition facility and cafe in the hall. I want a library like this in my city.
The Buffalo Public Library, a place to visit. The Huckleberry Finn originals are found.
Very good service. They help the community and they have something to learn.

2021-11-10I just moved to the city and first thing I did was to get a membership for Central Library. I just applied online and they sent my library card within a week to my home address. I could easily hold my first book on the online system and I just picked it up other day. The library is amazing and huge! It has so many sections such as kid’s, DVDs for music&movie, special exhibition of Mark Twain, 3D printing, computers for scanning and printing. This is one of the best libraries I had visited and I cannot wait to go there and spend more time. Considering that everything is free, I think everyone in the city should benefit from it and get a membership! Thank you for your amazing service. :)

2022-02-19My kids and I come here as much as we can and today we made it to the Black History Month program featuring Black Inventors! They had a ball🥰 We did crafts and checked out books of course. Sometimes we take the train downtown to make it an adventure, were so lucky to have this beautiful library with amazing exhibits.

2022-06-09In an age where many libraries would be dying this one has done its best to keep up with the times. Completely modernized and doing its best to appeal to a new generation. They don’t just house books, they also have a recording studio, 3-D printers, numerous collections and regular events to keep the public engaged. Really impressive and worth many return visits.

2022-06-08Just what a library ought to be, serving the public with knowledgeable staff willing to help anyone and accommodate all teams of needs in the mission to grant people access to learning. The space itself is pleasant and open, the facilities comfortable... just a nice place to go. The grounds surrounding the library are beautifully maintained, full of lovely flowers and nicely cared- for plants and trees.

2022-04-24Not a bad facility. I just wish the the security had a more descreet manner in dealing with drowsy patrons. It sort of defeats the purpose of studying or getting work done at a library when every fifteen minutes altercations can be heard between guards and patrons over sleeping habits; Very distracting in todays ADHD culture.Its gone out of hand since the days I first started utilizing the librarys resources.and services. Whats the problem? Arent the gaurds allowed to teaze unruly patrons and sell them to Buffalo Zoo? Imagine how much revenue not would generate without burdening tax payers.Come on Erie County! Time to think outside the box!

2021-10-24Came to print shipping labels and noticed the advertising for the book sale. I wish I had known about it sooner but I had about an hour left and rushed upstairs. Found a lot of cool cds! And the staff were very helpful and friendly and helped me bag my stuff. Even though I might have taken a few minutes passed 4pm to finish up.Best library in the city for a reason. 👍

2018-03-19Amazing location, beautiful inside out, especially inside. The options are limitless, I could spend days getting lost in the smell of old books and browsing new books. Their music selection is the best of all libraries I’ve visited. Kids can really enjoy the amenities and the variety of books available
