Had 12 bags of winter clothes to drop off and they didnt offer any help at all. I had asked for a bin or cart so that I can fill it up and roll it inside so that it stays out of the rain. Again, they couldnt be bothered helping me with that. Its apparent that the guy that was volunteering his time didnt want to be there, maybe he should think about going somewhere else. The donation box outside wasnt big enough for my bags or I would have thrown them in there.Hopefully my clothes will go to some families that need them.

I worked at the womens shelter for a couple years and what I experienced was not professional. You have workers there who were unqualified yet kept because they informed management of everything from clients behavior and what they didnt like about staff. Management was very unfair to staff and always believed clients over their staff. RCs and Management were stealing donations that were to be given to clients. Food donations were also being taken home by staff. I noticed much favoritism there by the director and supervisor. Every lower staff was on edge not knowing when they were going to be forced. Very unfair work place. Wouldnt encourage anyone to work there. Lisa Sargeant, Annette Slaughter and Eyonne were always interested in pleasing each other, never was ot about staff. After my departure they fired 5 staff members. Terrible working environment if you truly cared about the residents. Stuart has and wants his hands in everything except his own company and the residents they are supposed to be serving. No

Let’s start at the top! The Upper Management sets policies that lower management is forced to enforce. There is a complete disconnect from reality at this point in management. They run a homeless shelter however during the grand opening homeless people were ordered to leave the building so they could grab at peoples pockets! Then there is Felicia, the emergency shelter manager who obviously has no life or friends outside the shelter! Apparently she has the authority to make up rules to discharge anyone at her whim! One week it’s ok to have hard candy in the dorms and the next week it’s a violation of the shelter rules . The same rules that everyone is forced to sign but never received a copy of & even when asked for them was refused ! No one knows the actual rules !She is a salaried manager who should be covering open shifts instead of giving those under her excessive amounts of overtime. Resulting in wasting of resources that could best be utilized in other beneficial areas! The shelter is seriously short staffed due to the fact they only pay minimum wage and that short staffing has created a very real threat to those in the emergency shelter, so many times we have to search for an “rc” only to find them asleep in an office. I have witnessed a resident beat another resident with a cane and it was the other residents the were forced to intervene because no one was available from staff to do their job. With all that said they do have excellent programs that if you do your part they will help you change your life. You have to want to change because they will not do your part for you!

I was in and out the city mission for a few years, but everytime I was there I was able to obtain things to help me in my future first I received my welding certificate, sorry to say that didnt work out cause I didnt like welding 2 years later I found myself back in tge dumps came to the mission they picked me up dusted me off and went to truck driving school. Still struggled with my demons for a couple years I was in and out of jobs. But all the tools I acquired while at the city mission all ways played in the back of my mind those heart felt conversation with Pastor Robinson, those, those stay on the track its gone to pay off conversations over a good game of chess with Mr Booker. Now last night I found my self in A position to donate some of mine and my future wife clothing to the mission and will be donating a turkey this year. Thank you city mission for never giving up on me and always keeping the light on..

Stayed there about a week or so came back one night saw there was no blankets on my bed. When i politely asked for one i was told to leave & they mentioned something about a letter i needed to have which they never told me about in my intake. Furthermore i was suppose to be seen by a caseworker there according to my intake worker but that never happen for some reason. I made them call police so i would have a place to stay & gave officers no problem as my case was dismissed the next day by a judge.

By far the best place to stay in the whole city of Buffalo if you have no place to call home. They provide clean clothes, warm beds, great food, and an extremely caring staff.

I attempted to volunteer for this organization for community service, and they denied me because it was for a court that was out of state. Im not sure if there is some legal reason, but either way it seems a little crazy that organizations are denying volunteer work.
