Really cool place. Prices aren’t too bad and the staff is really friendly with great customer service.
Very friendly fashionable people :) I brought clothes to sell in the morning, they selected some things and chatted w me the whole time. They get A LOT of clothes daily and have rules on what they can take based on season & demand, like most consignment shops… lol just be realistic when selling. Shops don’t have to magically take all your things and hand you hundreds of dollars, that’s not how it works… They were able to direct me to another store where I could donate what they didn’t take. Def would go back again to sell and shop 👍🏼!

Great store! Staff is super sweet and friendly, and Ive found some cool pieces for a great price. Selling is easy if you follow the instructions beforehand (a little different now because of COVID). Definitely recommend!
Literally everyone in here is so nice. I’ve never had a bad experience here. The store is clean, the staff are lovely and kind, and they always have new stuff to try on and/or buy. You can even sell your own things here. And there’s parking! It’s a pandemic and they’ve kept their store going so props to them for that too.
Very cute place! Lots of items from clothes to jewelery to hand bags. Only problem I had was not a lot of options in bigger sizes...meaning anything bigger than a 10. Definitely not a place for my plus sized peoples. And somewhat pricier than other thrift stores Ive been to
It’s kind of clear why people don’t seem to enjoy this thrift store however as a person that likes thrifting once in a while I would say to at least take a look. Last time I came here I found some doc martens in great condition and I purchased a cool ring. It was honestly such a great day. I feel like this a place that one should at least check out before they turn their back. As for selling items it’s difficult because they only take what’s trending so if you have an old shirt they will most likely not take it. It’s difficult selling clothing too because even if the shirt has a small stain they will not take it. I would suggest buying than to sell.

Dont sell here. Huge waste of time. Better off taking to any other thrift store.Also beware donating at ANY Buffalo Exchange. Items they did not buy but claim they are donating end up on the sales floor. Sketchy. The racks are filled with garbage so unclear on what they are actually buying from customers.
DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE.This was my first and last time to go to this store. It is one of the worst thrifting stores and they will barely take anything of you if you are trying to sell them stuff. Today I went there and I brought with me over 200 pieces of clothes that I never wore and they only took less then 20 pieces and they almost did not give me any money even tho there was so expensive stuff. And when I say that I brought clothes that I never wore, I mean it, because of the COVID I did not have a chance to go out.DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE.

Bruh, first of all, they talk too much. Second of all, they don’t consider the value of clothing but I’m guessing they don’t know what is good from bad. I gave my clothes away but tbh many thrift stores like these are gentrified, used to be cool, now it’s ... different.

I am giving this place a star because it doesnt allow me to move on unless I rated it. The sales associates are something else, you make an appointment with them and then when you get there, the same person that you made the appointment with, you tell them your name and let them know that you made an appointment with them. They still ask you ” Did you make an appointment ”. When you just finished telling them that you made an appointment to come in ( Kayler). They tell you that theyre going to call you the next day and they dont. Now, I understand given everything thats going on. I now call them to find out the status of what I bought in and I have to wait a couple of hours for them to tell me if they want it or not. When they could have done that the same day. I then received a call from one of the sales associate asking me when Im I going to pick up my stuff the same one who said to me to give her a couple of minutes. because if not they would donate it. Only after learning that they didnt want anything. The owner should be embarrassed by the type of people they hire.
When we found out about this place, we were pretty excited. We called to ask about any requirement for selling our clothes to them, the staff was so friendly and said that we could just bring it to their store. She made it sounds so easy! Unbelievable. We drove in from Long Island to Brooklyn. But, they took none of my items, which were an assortment of mainly J.Crew and Banana Republic along with from past 1-2 years.So DISAPPOINTED. I saw that they were 12 ppl lined up with us and they also werent able to sell any of their items. Buffalo Exchange should be honest about how difficult it will be to sell at their store. They did kindly say that theres a trend board in-store, but its better just being clear up front what kind of items are wanted. Please dont give people false hope. To be honest, it seems like the way that their business works is by making people feel like their items are of no value (after taking the time and effort to gather clothes and bring them in), so that they end up just donating to Buffalo Exchange--then they take those items and sell them on their racks at near retail prices. You might as well just go next door to donate at the Monk and shop their stuff for much cheaper for current trends.

I like finding something that Im willing to buy at Good right price (win). I never bring clothes to trade because I know better, the BIGGEST negative is the workers that seem to just hate their job, like zombies. Besides that its cool 😞, but those workers make me feel a certain way & I dont like that. If it wasnt for the clothes you could find. Its not that bad, id check it out anyway
Buying? Not a bad selection with decent prices- depending on the item.Selling? Go in there with intentions of donating/ giving away your clothing. You can have garments totally $1,500 (as an example), and youll end up with .50. Its a mercenary oriented business that aims to exploit you and your clothing, even name brand items. A jacket that I spent nearly $200 on, that was brand new and with tags, I receive oh about $3.20. Trade in value is a bit higher but still its a joke. Dont hold your breath to receive any substantial amount of money. Youre better off donating the clothing to homeless shelters and organizations that help clothed the poor (like those clothing bins you see all over the borough). For them to pay you over 95% less than what you had paid, then turnaround and try to profit from it by charging half if not more for the item is borderline fraudulence. Just sayin...and yes thats my (former) car in front of the place. I got lucky finding a sick spot.
Horrible customer service. left before i even got to go in because the lady watching the line was so rude. i’m not sure if she was having a bad day but that was no way to treat a customer. i’m sorry to be a karen but it was so rude. 4 people walked out and the three of us asked if we could go in. she said no because only 2 people walked out. i reminded her that two more people walked out before them and she got snarky. all i was trying to do was speed up the line so no one had to wait longer than they should. clothes might be cute but i wouldn’t recommend.
Even though they tend to be a bit more expensive than I would like, they have really unique clothes at fair prices and the store is well organized. I agree with other posters that there could be more mens clothing.
Don’t come here to sell. They will waste your time! They say they only buy current trendy items but they actually only buy a specific type of trend. Basically the “early 20s living in Williamsburg with 11 roommates and everything I wear is pre-owned” esthetic. Mom jeans, very worn shoes from the 90s, things like that. Quality and brand means nothing to them. Try crossroads instead if you’re looking to sell. As far as buying goes, nice accessories but that’s about it.
If you’re selling... They pretty much only buy clothes that are currently trendy and they will only buy “winter accessories” (as in scarfs, hats, etc) during the colder months.If you’re buying... like many nyc vintage and second hand stores, there are no crazy good steals and you have to do some digging. As a buyer, I’m inclined to do more legwork next door at Monk where I’ve found a few cheap gems in the past. But definitely worth going through both stores if you’ve got the energy
Do not SELL here. I dropped off 4 boxes of very lightly worn work/summer dresses/sports gear from American eagle outfitters, Free People, Zara, Urban Outfitters, ASOS, Forever New and the next day they claim to have donated everything within 12 hours because “they don’t sell well”. All I got was $11 for barely worn Cole Haan women’s work shoes. They claim on the website to take exactly what I dropped off.
Im just going to give a 5 star review to help balance against the people who are mad that the store wont buy all of their clothes and pay them a ton for them. Thats the concept of a thrift store honey. I dont think youll find much better rates or less picky buyers in NYC. Seems like its pretty fair.
Don’t sell anything here during COVID 19, because you will only drop off the box without knowing how they set the price and if it’s true when they put them to racks. They would give you a ridiculous selling price which doesn’t make any sense. The price they gave me for an entire box of approximately 40 pieces clothings comes with some luxury brand for only 50 bucks. I can sell some of the individual pieces for more than 50 in any platform like the RealReal or Poshmark
Honestly hate selling at this location. They just zoom through your clothes with out even looking at them. I got 4 dollars back for one pair of 90 dollars jeans and mind you brought in a whole suitcase... she claimed that they were overwashed so she couldn’t buy (half of them are brand new with tags) Then says that I can donate everything if I choose too ( they automatically sell your donations)Don’t waste your time at this place I went to crossroads after and they bought almost everything I had
It was my first time trying to sell clothes to a retail store. The experience wasnt too bad because the staffs were really friendly! But if you are trying to get some money out of your old clothes, they arent the best choice. They only give 30% of the price that they sell in cash to the sellers. I ended up selling none, and i probably wont try to do that again.
Shopping: Their collection is pathetic (or incredible if you are a real Williamsburg hipster that loves to wear pale, baggy clothes from the past, ironically.) If you have actual style, pass this location altogether.Not a great location to sell in either. Stoic clerks, long sell line and they are pickiest of all. Try the newest store, near Wash Square Park! They ALWAYS buy a few of my pieces, excitedly! Their lines are almost non-existant too. Chelsea is hit or miss and you can wait for an hour or more to be seen! People come with literally SUITCASES! Boggles the mind.
Was interested in buying new clothes. Im not sure how Google judges their $ signs but this place should not be classified as a single $. Most things are priced $20 and up. Ive seen a few articles of clothing cheaper at the retail store it originally came from.
Super happy with my purchases and friendly staff.LOVE that they put sizes on their price tags as most thrift stores dont.Not much room to move about so its a bit of a squeeze to get around the store and some pricing didnt make much sense.BUT all in all its great and Im definitely going back!
Be mentally prepared that they probably will not accept all your stuff you wanna sell. I totally understand. But the buyer I met is much nicer than beacon‘s closet. The buyers I met at different stores of beacon’s make me feel that I come to bother them with garbage…
Lol gentrifiers can afford to live on this fancy apartments but shop at thrift shops.creating a rise in thrift stores . They need to leave the city . Buffalo exchange is one of the most overrated stores because of its high prices . Dont even bother to sell to them either theyre ridic on the prices .
This particular Buffalo Exchange is certainly a charming one. Its a few blocks away from the Bedford Av train stop, and the layout is certainly an interesting one. You enter the store and immediately see an open-layout store, allowing you to get a look of everything from any side of the store. Upon walking up a little set of stairs to meet the stores level, you are almost instantly greeted by friendly Buyers, the employees that are in charge of buying the clothes that customers bring in to sell. Every section of clothes in the store is labeled by a sign on the top of the circular rack stating whether theyre Dresses, Tank Tops, Pants, and so on. The mens clothes are on one side, while the womens are on the other side. Its needless to say that great music will always be playing at any thrift store, and whats special here is that usually, the dressing room attendants, or any employee busy organizing racks, will usually be humming along or tapping their foot to the song. Its a pleasing and relaxing place to shop at, and the clothes are always interesting to look at. Every day brings new finds, and prices are absolutely GREAT. Let me repeat that. Prices are absolutely GREAT. Shopping here is a must, its hard to imagine anyone being disappointed by going here.
On my trip to New York my friends and I stopped by this shop and found a great assortment of clothing and necklaces. We walked in prepared to just browse and ended you making three purchases each. Some stuff was more used than others but thats to be expected anywhere. The workers were happy, helpful, and engaging. Great stop for all thrifters!
Not my first go to (Beacons just bigger and closer to home) but Buffalo Exchange is next on the list for good fun stuff and an opportunity to sell some oldies but goodies I have in my closet. I still remember my first visit and having a great conversation with the staff who are extremely friendly and just seem to be really happy to be there and help find anything you are looking for.Great fun shopping experience!

All their picked clothes are amazing!! The only hard time you get is choosing what fits and what does not! It is a great idea that you can actually bring your clothes in exchange for others. I loved the place.
Comically overpriced. Go here if you want to pay the same price or MORE for a used Asos or Zara item than you would for them brand new.
I told them I was a new customer and they did not explain their percentage rates upfront. I just let a lot of clothes go including a never before worn Goorin hat that I got for $75. Im getting $15 back. I would never shop somewhere where they dont explain their policies up front. They should change the name of their store to bend over
If you bring clothes in here, be aware that they are very picky with what they take. This varies by location so if they wont take it here, dont hesitate to try a different Buffalo Exchange. They have some good finds in here an items range from $15-60. Not as many high end brands as Beacons but still fun to look around.

Went and sold some items and got $94 in store credit. They ended up taking the stuff that I didnt think they would take. So for the rest I ended up going to the buffalo in downtown brookly they took almost everything and I got $98 for it so at the end I got about $192 in store credit. Over all I think this is a good store I almost always end up coming out with something I love. With that being said its not what it used to be prices where more cheaper back then and they had more better stuff but I still recommend this place if you wana find some cool clothes for a decent price.

I always feel extremely unwelcome the second I come in. Most of the staff is very rude and inattentive. Want Buffalo Exchange? Go to another location. This one sucks. Trying to sell your old clothes to them is a complete waste of time. Ive brought really nice items and they declined because it was not the right season and because currently they were not looking to buy xyz, only abc. And yet they have all kind of stuff hanging out on their hangers. And some of that stuff is not even in great condition, their prices for what they have there are ridiculous. Please go to Monk next door instead, at least they will take ALL of your old clothes and give you a 25% discount next time you buy something.
Same scam as beacons closet- you show up with bags of nice clothes in good condition, they take one thing & give you 15$ for it then say you can donate the rest so you dont have to lug the bags back home. Then they sell the reject clothing without having to pay you for it. Have found some nice stuff here so they get a star for that- still I wish there was an honest thrift store in Williamsburg.
Its got clothes, alright, but boy does it smell like the mothiest moth balls youve ever smelt. Ive never bought or sold clothes here, only visited, liked their collection, but never walked out with a purchase. They really need to work on the smell of this place, I gotta say.
So I came here about 3 times to donate my clothing and they happily accepted some.However on the other side theres a checkout area. Some white tall guy with glasses ( who must have didnt see me donate) watches me while checking customers out.In my head Im thinking why is this dude grilling me so hard. He then randomly just asked me can I just hold that hat up front until youre ready to go ? As if he thought I was going to steal it!!!! Dude made me feel singled out I guess bc I was black. Im never coming here again.

Great 2nd hand or new tagged merchandise, ranging from sunglasses to socks, to apparel, shoes, and bags for male and female. You can also sell ur worn clothes as well at the price they choose or use the money as credit towards a purchase at the store.
I finally gave this store a visit after many recommendations from friends and i must say i loved this place. organized, clean, friendly and helpful staff. they have thing that cater to all styles, and even though i only came here once i know that every time i visit i wont leave without something.
We love a good bargain! Come here to pick up some clothes or to trade or sell your old clothes. Call before lugging all your clothes here though, because they are always looking for particular items!
If you want to sell anything that seems like its worth something... Dont! They arent going to give you crap for it. Sell old vintage crap that isnt in high demand. Other than that, typical buy and sell trade post. You can find some interesting things there but the markup is cray!

Trying to sell anything here is a fruitless waste of time. They proclaim we only want quality as-new items that people will want yet their shop is full of used junk nobody wants. Youll be lucky if they by anything from you at all, and money they offer you for anything is pitiful.
One of the better thrift shops in the area. Reasonable prices with a great selection. Some items are a tad expensive, and can be a little hectic at busy times. Worth the trip, however.
Great second hand clothes. Only nice second hand (they are very picky about what they take)... which makes it good for shopping, not so good for giving. Ive found a few stylish items here in the past couple years.
Good selection, and a bit larger than the Queens store. Generally the selection is well-curated, and there is a far balance between mens and womens, and they have a purchase stand open all the time.
Went to sell something very very picky. I had 4 leather jackets great condition wore them once and they didnt want them. Who doesnt want a black leather jacket.
Don’t sell them anything over mail, they won’t pay you. You’re better off selling anything on Mercari, eBay or anywhere else.

The selection is ok, but I much prefer the location in Manhattan on 25th. All of the items are uninspiring or obviously VERY used, and the staff is lackadaisical and standoffish.

Ehh.. hate to write this review because I usually have success at this location and like it better but I couldnt help but noticed the buyer I got this time only looking at the tags of my clothes instead of the overall style?? She ultimately tried to offered me $3 for a brand new satin button down topshop shirt with tags that retails at $60. While I am not naive when it comes to fashion retail since I work it myself I was under the impression based off their website that clothes they choose must be trendy and in good condition not the dependent on the brand..
I was super excited about coming to this shop but my mood quickly changed. The saleswomen are upset to work in this store. They jostle you to store items that are worth the price of new products! I have seen items sold more expensive in their shop than new on the internet.A very bad time. A real dumping ground.
There are many old clothes regardless of gender. Youll be lucky if you can find a bargain.

The most delusional thrift store. Worth going in even for the cultural experience. The genre enthusiasts seem to have a great selection and things are well arranged. On the other hand, at the price level, better first-hand merchandise can be found in better prices.

2022-03-25Pretty neutral experience. I wish they were more clear on their website about what theyre looking to buy; it would save working people like me a lot of time.Obviously, they reserve the right to select what they feel their clientele will buy. They also get a ton of people selling to them daily. My observation, however, is that what they want has nothing to do with how pristine the item is or how high quality; they only care if its a brand name college-aged shoppers would buy. If they stated that up front (in so many words, maybe suggesting brand names they want), I wouldnt have bothered making an appointment and wasting my time watching someone pretend to appraise my items.

2022-04-25I had a wonderful experience selling my clothes here. Although they only took 20% of the 50 items I brought in, the store manager was so nice and explained how everything worked. I was very glad that she answered all my questions in the most pleasant manner. It was quite fun!

2022-06-27Great stuff! prices all over the place from $10-$120 but i really do recommend going. im a person who prefers to not spend more than $15 on something but i found great shoes for only $35 which are usually on the market for 50+ ! the people are amazing there so i still highly recommend

2022-06-11I just left the store and one of the workers followed me around for almost 45 minutes. It wasn’t until I called my best friend on the phone and said I wish this lady would stop following me that she scurried to the back. It was so obvious that she was following me around and pretending that she was doing work and all I had was a wallet in my hand so I’m curious how exactly I was supposed to steal something? I will never shop at this establishment again if the employees are going to be outright discriminatory.

2022-07-22What happened to this place… I dropped a few pieces off last week and one item was a Prada coin pouch that I no longer use, when associate saw it she asked where did I get it from…. I replied THE PRADA STORE in soho a few years ago. She was not aware of the brand it seemed.. Anyway hopefully they hire some new buyers for now I’ll sale to the real real.

2022-02-03Brand quality steers more towards fast fashion like Shen, Zara, UO these days. I did see a few Ganni brand dresses for $80. And some cute slip dresses in various colors. They also had a Supreme tee with yellow pit stains for $80.

2022-01-31My daughter just moved to NYC. We stopped in today and had the BEST experience. Selection was phenomenal, prices great, and the staff was SO friendly. Love love love.
