Buffalo Grand Hotel & Event Center in Buffalo
So awful! It was a large hotel and they only had 1 elevator working. Long lines everywhere (probably short staffed). The worst was the room. It was disgusting. Id rather use a public restroom than the room bathroom. The sheets were wrinkled as if theyd been slept in for a month. Trash still on the counter in the bathroom. Door knobs missing from the dresser. Smears of something resembling blood on the walls. If we were in town for more than 1 night, I wouldve switched hotels.
Positive: able to get a room when all others were booked in the downtown area. Nice staff.Negative: extremely pricey for what you got, even if last minute. Room had no working ac, I don’t think the entire building had any. The light in our bathroom didn’t turn on at all. The room felt and looked dirty. One of our pillows didn’t even have a case put on it.This place definitely needs some fixing, would not stay again.
This place needs ALOT of work.. the bar was good and the workers were alright. When I got to my room the shower head was broken and trickled water, the toilet can barely flush, the bathroom in general was very dirty and the shower curtain was broken. But I found someones buffalo bills jersey in the closet SO their loss my gain.
Worst hotel experience Ive ever had. What you see on their website is NOT what you get. The lobby looks nice but the rooms were disgusting. Elevators were broken so we had to use the staff one. Paid $10/night to park in the parking garage but again the elevators were broken and the staff entrance was locked there so the only way to get back into the hotel was to walk through the garage and around the entire courthouse building thats next to the hotel. Our AC was broken so we had to ask to change rooms. If we had any choice we would have stayed elsewhere. Another customer who arrived around the same time as us was canceling their reservation when I came down to ask for a different room. Weve stayed at cheap motels that were better than this place. They told me a hold on my card was required and would be released immediately upon check-out. Not only was it already 150% of what the room cost, the hold they actually put on my card was more than what I was told and wasnt released until a couple days after we left - and they charged me for the room and parking on top of that hold. If I hadnt happened to check my bank app I would have ended up with an overdraft fee as well.
This hotel is definitely a catfish. Beautiful lobby but hallways and rooms were a horrible!Upon arriving we found out the regular elevators and escalators were not working so we had to go through this sketchy hallway to the service one. It felt really unsafe walking through there especially at night time with the blind corners. Beware if you’re traveling alone! Our first room was dirty! There were stains on the covers as well as hair! They moved us to a different room and that room was better but still not up to our standards. Stains in the bathtub, thin sheets, the room had a weird smell to it.Last but not least I left with BUG BITES. Not sure what it is that ate me up but as soon as we got home we washed all of our laundry. If I could rate this zero stars I would.
Consider find alternative places to stay. Hotel is a 1 star now, maybe. Elevators didnt work. Had to go through housekeeping lockers and maze to get room.Room assigned was not cleaned, found food on floor from previous renter, pubes in shower, missing pillow cases ect. Refrigerator had been removed from the room and no working ac. On top of all that they put a 160 hold on the card that you don’t know about until the day of your stay to try and ensure you don’t steal anything from the room.Looks nice online but pretty seedy place in person.
Let’s start with the positive. The people working were all wonderful. I wish them all the best and commend them for coming to work here. Now the rest. The location is great. The fountain outside is great. Everything else, not so much. We booked a room for a romantic getaway. The carpets are frayed and coming up in every hallway and in the room. The window must have been leaking because the carpet in our room was soaking wet. The toilet had stains in it. There was no remote to the TV and linens looked dingy. After one minute in the room, we left and went to a place over by the airport. God bless the folks at the front desk who were gracious and understanding. When I was 21 I wouldn’t have cared. But being older and having traveled, this hotel should not be stayed at until they spend some money to renovate. Bar was closed. Pool was closed. Just very disappointing overall.
Never got to stay!!! 4 hr before check-in we get a call saying the hotel was condemed by the fire marshal.was told so many lies!! They said they were to busy to help us find a room for the night, said they had to call 100 guest then it went to 200. Asked when the fire was she said 1 am googled it and she was right it was 1 am TWO days earlier.
If you decide to be adventurous and take a chance staying here, make sure youve had a tetanus shot. This place is a complete DUMP! By far, the dirtiest, creepiest, and most dilapidated hotel Ive had the unfortunate pleasure of staying in (I would have been far happier staying in my car). Thank goodness it was only for one night. The pictures on the website are so far from the true appearance of this S-hole.All 6 elevators were not working. The only elevator to use was a service elevator, which took you through a maze of halls in the service corridors. The escalators and about 90% of the lights were turned off around 11PM in the main lounge/lobby area. We had to walk up the escalator in the dark to our old and disgusting room. There were holes in the hallway walls, stains over just about every inch of the carpets (both in our room and throughout the hallways), a queen-size head board was used to block off a dark hallway, none of the amenities were open, the ceiling in our room and throughout the hotel were falling apart and you could clearly see the ceiling in our room had or still has water leaking to it, 2 of the 3 lights in our room did not work, nor did the clock on the night stand and the security lock on the door was broken off. I can go on-and-on.I cannot believe this place is still in operation and charging what they are a night. Its literally falling apart. I even saw a wall that is separating from the floor in the hallway. There were so many ceiling tiles missing and wires hanging from the ceiling. It may have been a great place once before, but those days are way long gone. I wouldnt stay here again, even if it were free. Good luck!
I have been here a few times and this will be my last time. They have changed for the worse. Raised prices way too high on nights where there is an event at Keybank. How can it be less than 100 every night of the year except on event days. On those days its 200 a night. Its not right and I dont care if others do it. It doesnt make it right. And 15 for breakfast. For what you pay to stay that should be free like it used to be. Rant over
Nothing grand about this hotel in the slightest. first of all u have to pay for parking in their parking lot (one day was $15). genuinely worse rooms than cheap motels. the beds were awful, the fridge froze our food, the thermostat was broke so the room was 52 degrees, and they only put two sheets on the bed for ur blankets. tv was from 2006 probably. pool seems to have been closed for a very long time. definitely will be saving my money next time
Poor customer service Ive ever meet. We stayed one night at this hotel with our friends. The lady from front desk was mean and unhelpful at all. They gave us two rooms, for us and the other family. So in the first room were people sleeping 🤦♀️ The other one had a used bathroom, not cleaned after previous stay, this wad totally unacceptable... and when were came back to change room the hotel staff didnt even apologize for what happened like it was something usual and fine. We were waiting for rooms for about an hour and when the lady from front desk noticed us talking with my friend about all that, we were obviously not happy at all, she asked us whats your problem? Its insane, we had kids with us who wanted to sleep but couldnt because there were no clean rooms, its seems like no one is working there, housekeepers, front desk staff. Worst experience ever, would never be back.
Worst experience ever. Waited in line for an hour at 6pm to find out our room wasn’t ready, without any warning. My friends got back to the room at 11pm. And it was not ready. Sent them to the room. Dirty. Bed unmade and used. Trash in the bathroom. They drove back home to rochester. No refund or discount after asking several times. Glad it wasn’t my wedding night or had a wedding to attend and get ready there. Definitely will never stay there again
This was the worst hotel I have stayed at. They operate under the “we are under construction” excuse but it’s far more than that. Our first room had water dripping from the ceiling. Called and they gave us a smaller room , no apologies , and nothing done to make it right. Had to ask 3 separate times for a roll away bed and then for sheets. The new room had mildew in the shower and the wrong size mattresses on the bed, which left nice metal hangers hanging out to trip on. Spend your money somewhere else, the hotel is dirty and the staff could care less.
The room smelled like cigarettes when I first walked in. The floor was dirty as if it was never vacuumed. The sheets had hard crusty stains on them. One of the sheets had a sticker from a baseball hat on it. When you looked out the window there was some kind of large animal bone. Charged $10 per day for parking when most days the barricade wasnt even down. We also had issues with our keys not working. Their wifi was down the entire stay. The key programmer was down one night so my family could not get into their room. There was no master key. They had to call the manager, who ended up jimmying their door open, which caused it to not be able to shut completely. However, they could not get a different room because no keys could be programmed. Luckily, one of my keys worked so I was able to get back into my room. The staff are friendly, but completely unprepared to handle any complaints or issues. Unfortunately, I was not able to afford to go to another hotel and possibly not get my money back from this one so I stuck it out. Will never be staying here or recommending this place to anyone ever. If youre looking for a comfortable place to stay, this is not it.
Im sorry but NOT GOOD here. We were coming from out of town. This place was reserved by a friend. We stayed because it was a last minute thing. First, the bathroom vents were filthy. Layered with dust. We found a bag behind the curtains with underwear & socks. My wife got bit by something that caused her to break out in red blotchy whelps or hives?? As if that wasnt enough, the box spring had what looked like a blood stain on it. They claim they will be renovating soon, who knows. Maybe maybe they will do better in the future. Updating will help appearance wise but the issues we had were more with not being cleaned or kept up. As of now, Id steer clear.
The entire fourth floor smells like cigarette though it’s labeled as “no smoking.” There were no clean towels in our room, the carpets in the hallways are literally falling apart. We had to change rooms because our first room smelled like someone just finished their cigarette.I almost never write reviews but for the cost of this place- it’s a total rip off. Disgusting.
Please dont waste your money staying here, this hotel looks beautiful from pictures and the lobby but once you get off the elevator its a MOTEL 6! Actually smells worst, the rooms /carpets stinks. I was greeted with vomit on the carpets in front my room door and it was still there when i checked out the next day. I checked in around 7pm and all the dirty laundry was still in front of Rooms along the hallway. The 20mins i took to check in 2 people came down to change rooms , one wasnt cleans the other air conditioning wasnt working. This hotel isnt cheap either so dont waste your money, a complete TOURIST TRAP!!! But the staffs was very nice .
I would put 0 stars if possible. The only positive was the customer service from the front desk staff. We got on the elevator with cigarette butts in it, navigated through the dimly lit, musty, smoke-smelling hallways and got up to our room to find that the toilet pours water out the back when you flush it. They switched our room to a different one, got to the new room, the ceiling was peeling, the room smelled terrible, visibly dirty, the mini fridge hasn’t been cleaned in a long time. The pictures on the site and google are very misleading. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We were supposed to stay 3 nights, we left after an hour.
The atmosphere in the lobby is quite nice. The big open bar is a very nice touch. That’s about where the niceties end… when you are just looking for a crash pad for the night, this is a fine spot as it’s close to downtown and they KeyBank Centre. However, do not expect to be comfortable here. There is absolutely no sound barrier between rooms so you hear everything, the bed and pillows are not comfortable, the tv does not work properly. Definitely more of a place to crash than a place to be comfortable.
I have never slept in a more uncomfortable bed. We both woke up with a migraine because the bed was so worn out we were sleeping down hill and the pillows felt like they have been using the same ones from the 60s. The mentioned they have been remodeling but apparently they should have started with the most important part the bed and pillows. The room was dirty and not even complementary coffee in the morning. It ruined our entire trip with the headache, we ended up sleeping in the car in the parking lot. I guess this is what I get for going to a 3 star hotel. I expected much better. Save yourself and pay the extra for a 5 star because all we were looking for was somewhere to sleep for a night and we did not get that.
Absolute dump, do not stay here! Run as fast as you can. I didnt not take my shoes off here, I felt like I needed a shower after I left this place, the carpet were sticky, dingy, dirty, the furniture was no different, sticky, dirty, dingy! There was garbage left in the room when we got it, there was used soap left in the shower, there was no shelves in the refrigerator, the microwave had no turntable, it was missing. The wallpaper peeling, the carpet in the hallways was loose and peeling up same in the rooms! Out bed was covered with twin sized sheet on a king sized bed, the bed only had 2 old lumpy pillows! I felt like I needed to be sanitized after we left! We only stayed because it was 2:30 am when we got here!
This hotel was way worse than it appeared on the outside. We stayed here along with a bride and groom and upon getting to their room they discovered they didn’t have the basic essentials like toilet paper in their room. Our room had an air conditioning that screeched when it kicked on. There were also no plugs next to the bed (or really anywhere easily accessible) to charge phones. The bathroom also had a rusted toilet bowl and a yellow stained shower. It wasn’t uninhabitable but also was not worth the money at all. Would not recommend staying here.
Horrible. Dirty floors, room not vacuumed, no glasses, one towel for a double bed room, no local guide/phone directory to order food, had to go to bar to place food order and wait so just avoided it, $10 per day self parking fee not mentioned anywhere on website (told me there was a sign at check-in but I didnt see it, probably because I wasnt looking for hidden fees signs since the torn up rug and broken escalator were distracting me). I realize they are remodeling but this place is a dump. I would have left after the first night but other hotels in area were booked. We stayed away from the place all day and left first thing in the morning on Sun. Didnt even use the shower. Charge me an extra $60 separate charge that I had to call and have them remove. Still waiting on the manager to call about the extra tax charges. Its been a week doubt I will hear from her.
Parking is a far walk from the entrance. Entrance is beautiful until you go to your room. Hallways littered with nails and screws, carpets have holes all over. Room was 58 degress when i got to it. Had 2 of the smallest pillows i have ever seen. Walpaper in bathroom was peeling. Id rather go to a plain motel its cheaper and in my opinion cleaner. Only thing this place has going for it is its bar. Do not recommend.
40 minute check in, because of a nearby concert, during which that gave our room that we has already paid for away to someone else and didnt tell us. Also, part of the shower was completely broken, no towels, terrible beds, weird crusty sheets on my bed. Would give 0 starts if possible. Dont be fooled by the pictures online, find literally anywhere else.
The place was like a ghost town. The front desk managers were amazing and super helpful but the elevators were down and the service elevators we used were terrifying. The rooms felt like we were staying in a WWII bunker. When we got to our room there was napkins wrapped around our lock to the connecting room, the TV was on, and there were no curtains on the windows. The bathroom was disgusting, rusted, wallpaper peeling. Bed had no mattress cover. The only perk was it was close to the highway.
The room were so old. Everything in my room was covered in dust. The window sill was so dirty. There was trash on the floor of the bathroom (old soap wrapper and a headphone rubber thingy) not pleasant at all but I could deal with it for the price. What I could not deal with was the coffee shop downstairs. I paid 5 bucks for a latte, when I came back upstairs I saw that that latte was just black coffee. The lady at the coffee shop even asked me what latte is... I dont blame her in the slightest. She said she works on the kitchen but for some reason is constantly being scheduled to open the coffee shop without any training. They got a new machine that does not even do latte but the menu did not change, and they still charged me for a latte. Idk the whole thing is just a weird experience
I was checking in and through some observation in the main lobby I knew something felt off but I didn’t let it stop me from getting my room key.The elevators were most likely not up to code. They were a solid 4-6 inches lower than the floor level when the doors opened. The walkway to the elevators was dirty and had not been cleaned in what looked like a long time. The hallways to my room was also very dirty with trash littered throughout the hallways.I opened my door hoping it wouldn’t reflect everything up until that point but of course my room looked like it hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned in weeks. It smelled like cigars in the room. There was dust on the widow sill, the bed was rock hard and sheets were wrinkled. The tub had dirt and grime buildup. Everything in the room was worn out and old.Gathered my things and cancelled my reservation. No way was I going to stay there for 4 nights. Do yourself a favor and spend a little extra for the standards you expect from a hospitality establishment.
****DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS HOTEL**** This is the ABSOLUTE worst place Ive ever stayed. From rats and mice to bed bugs to blood on the sheets and comforters (I use that loosely bc theyre too thin to be real comforters). The air conditioner/ heater is so loud (I was just glad to have one working bc my friend said hers didnt). The room next door didnt have a lock on the outside, its just a big hole in the door (it gives Backdoor vibes). The lobby is beautiful but the rooms are trash! Absolute trash! I wish I could give this hotel 0 stars.
If I could give 0 stars I would have. This place should be shut down! There is what appears to be a bullet hole and shattered glass at the entry vestibule, water damage EVERYWHERE! The place is run down! The carpets in the hall have not been changed and probably not cleaned in over 50 years, the wall paper is coming off the walls, or room was not cleaned, the ac did not work. We were told Sorry about that, we use contractors that dont do a good job, but if we dont use them we would have to shutdown. They should be shutdown PERIOD! RUNNNN DO NOT BOOK HERE!
I agree with all of the other comments regarding the ZERO star rating. This hotel is nasty. I also had to follow the maze to use the workers elevators. The hallways are nasty, dim lighting, cob webs, dirt, random old air conditioners, stains, the smell of weed and cigarette smoke... delightful. Then you go to your room, dirty toilets, dirty sink, no towels, everything was dusty and gross. DO NOT STAY HERE. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. The minute I walked in, I looked for reservations somewhere else, unfortunately everything was all booked. NEVER AGAIN.
You need to be careful. photos are misleading hotel needs a lot of work and upgrades , for example high floor windows are dirty you won’t enjoy the view, my room bathroom door doesn’t close, AC thermostat is down you can’t control the temperature, TV doesn’t work … etcim handy i was able to reconnect some of the room stuff but definitely not a good place to stay
Worst experience at a hotel EVER. They are clearly living in the glory of the old Adams Mark hotel which used to be beautiful and better kept. Unfortunately I stayed as part of a wedding party. There was only 1 set of towels for a 2-bed room, the phone didnt work properly, ice machine and elevator not working. No pool, no restaurant. Our room was the only one with a microwave and a fridge. The downstairs bathroom in the brides suite was clogged. People were still in one of the suites when we all tried to check-in and they had trashed the place. Another room had syringes in the bathroom sink. I had a huge stain on the comforter and the bed was made to hide it. And if we werent in the wedding theres a $150 deposit! If all of this wasnt bad enough, the banquet room that the wedding was in had no a/c on the hottest week in June. Not even a fan to blow some air around, NOTHING. I sanitized everything before I brought it in my house and I promise I will never stay again. It shouldnt even be open to the public.
Booked room for 2 nights and received confirmation. I got there midnight after driving 8 hours and they had no rooms available!! The guy on front desk sounded it was pretty fine ..not even a word of apology of what they did to us!! I had to leave and find another place and finally got another hotel at 3 am to sleep. Next day I called in and explain to the girl that they had confirmed my booking and didnt give me a room when I arrived. After listening to me she asked me a question- so whats the issue sir? What can I do? I was seriously annoyed as this is beyond expectations. Next day I checked my bank statement and sure enough they have already charged my card!! Extremely nasty and greedy people. Avoid this place!
Absolutely terrible. Overnight staff was very rude and put me in one of the closest rooms to the 190; slept terrible and the hotel was unwilling to accommodate my request to move to another room. The room looked clean but there was feces on the toilet bowl. There was one towel that had been left on the tub, towel was dirty. The air conditioner made a really loud goose type of noise every time it was on.None of the ice machines workedNo breakfast available (false advertising)The kitchen didnt open until after 4The bartender didnt bother to get up when I was at the bar, she was down at the other end on her phone. And even when she did come over she didnt say a word. How is this custom service????And of course the pool was closed.Every time I went to the front desk they treated me like I was wrong. There doesnt seem to be any management at all.If it was possible Id rate this 0 stars. Dont go there.
So Im going to start by saying the employees were really great, very quick with any requests and accommodating for our needs. I had accidentally booked the room for Sunday night instead of Saturday night but they had a room available for us but it was 289. Vs the 71 I had booked for Sunday/ Monday. The room is fine for 71 a night.. not for over 300 with taxes! We were on the 8th floor and and the room was pretty warm. I did like that we could put the continuous fan on the a/c. The cot provided was uncomfortable because of the springs but we asked for extra blankets which made it tolerable. Room is kind of small we had 2 double beds but the fridge was large and got very cold even keeping the bag of ice frozen. The pool was closed and no breakfast due to covid but they provided coffee and sodas were available for purchase. In general its run down but functional. Things were clean and beds were comfy.
Didn’t even end up staying. My boyfriend and I were in the lobby waiting in line to book a room. There were two men to the side complaining about something, and then two women that had nothing to do with them complaining as well. I overheard them talking about mold in the rooms and being overcharged. That alone made us leave the lobby and decide to spend our money elsewhere. Now I checked the reviews and I’m glad we didn’t stay here.
1 star hotel with a 5 star price. The staff was friendly but the hotel is a dump. Elevator didnt work, half the room lights would not turn on. No lights in the bathroom. Pillows didnt have cases. Entire place was dirty. For $250 + bucks a night, I wish I would have slept in my car.
I was hesitant to book based on reviews. While it was in need of updating, I found it very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was close to everything I needed and very walkable. I ate once in the bar and the food was very good. Definitely worth the value and I’d return if I was going back to the Buffalo area.
The manager was wonderful and a lot of my complaints are out of his control. The hotel is in desperate need everything. Only the service elevator was available to guests, which was a maze in itself. Carpeting in hallways was very dirty and pulling up, wallpaper was also coming off the walls. We stayed 5 days and 4 nights, NOT once did housekeeping give us new towels, change our garbage or sheets.
All my important electronics were stolen from my room. I had locked the door, put do not disturb sign. And then I came back, my laptop, DSLR camera, apple chargers. Everything gone. The manager didn’t help at all. He didn’t even seem to care. He was unapologetic, he was laughing and smiling throughout the discussion with the police. I am certainly wanting people to read this review and stay away from this place. As per the police, theft and robbery is very common at this hotel. Be careful. Avoid.
I would give it zero stars if I could. The staff and the person who handled are booking was very rude. We had booked a room the day before we checked in and it was confirmed twice but when we checked in, they said they had no more rooms. I was travelling with my husband and two kids and one had a bleeding nose. I saw several other guests in the same situation sleeping on the sofas in the convention centre. We finally got a room at around 1:15 in the morning. The guest elevators didn’t work and we took another one. Our room had been hastily arranged since it was in a very run-down condition and the was filled with air freshener. The air conditioner had no battery and the staff didn’t even try to properly fix it. We would have suffocated so we opened the cracked window and had to sleep to the sound of bikes and cars roaring oustside. When we complained to the staff they told us to go wherever we wanted. The manager had no idea that the problems existed. No complimentary breakfast was available.
Absolutely one of the worst hotels ever. First off the elevators didn’t work, secondly the air conditioning and escalators were turned off. So just imagine humidity mixed in with the smell of BO as you walk through the halls and into the lobby. Customer service was dreadful, one person at the counter who was to busy chatting away with on of the patrons. Let’s get to the room… no soap no shampoo in all my years have never seen this. Beds looked like they were just used and the bathroom had wallpaper peeling off. I can go on and on just save your money or set up a tent on the sidewalk that be better.
This hotel has to be the worst in the World. Carpet was filthy leading to the rooms. Sheets on the bed was wrinkled like they had been used. The guys cleaning rooms were someone off the streets was cleaning our room and working on the vacuum cleaner while we waited to enter. Front desk should have known the room was not clean before sending us up. The staff at front desk was unprofessional to the highest. The City of Buffalo New York should close this hotel until it’s brought up to code and totally renovated. The great thing about the trip we did not sleep night in this condition were able to get another hotel in Niagara Falls which were 40 minutes but worth the drive
Three rooms in two days. All had problems. 1st rooms air conditioner leaked into room and soaked carpet, got warm over night with gurgling warm sounds only to be cold again in the morning, but I soaked a pair of socks in discovering the soaked carpet over in from of the room fridge. The bathroom sink got lukewarm at best, though shower was okay. 2nd rooms AC did not work at all. Dead. 3rd room AC okay, and shower okay, but hot and cold on the sink were reversed. Try brushing your teeth with hot water before figuring out where the cold is. NONE of this is excusable. The only value we got was in having a good time making fun of the UnGrand Buffalo. Staff were nice. Not really their fault, I dont think. Water fountains out front were indeed nice.
So the curbside appeal is AMAZING. this hotel used to be great in the day! But covid brought lack of funds to the industry and vandals were unkind to the property. Not to mention getting employees to work is difficult for business owners nowadays. We met and talked to the owner who was so kind and humble. He looked so tired and understandably so with all there is to do!! After leaving, we researched the place further, the story is amazing. Dont judge a book by its cover. There are extraordinary plans for this place and will be worth the wait. It is lacking in some areas but they are quick to respond in kindness. Room did look a little old but that added the charm to it. We had comfortable beds and loved the lavish huge ball room and reading up on the history!
This was the worst hotel Ive ever stayed in to date! The advertising is great as it lures you in and makes it appear that the rooms are as grand as the lobby. DO NOT STAY HERE! The furniture is old, the ice machine had everything in it but ice, no USB ports...EVERYTHING is dated! Im only giving 2 stars vs 1 bcse the staff was nice!
Place is terrible theres way better options out there you buy here your a fool I got room here with a view an staff gave me something else without being informed didnt offer no money back its been a month later an still no security deposit returned. Staff are rude on the phone. You get scammed by this place its on you youve been warned. Also the rooms sMell like pee the stairwell is super dirty an some floors the lights in the hallway dont work. Place looks like horror scene. An sadly Im being very serious. Im not from buffalo just visiting an worse experience from a hotel ever!
The lobby and bar were fine, but the rooms are disgusting. There were over 100 of us staying here and everyone wanted to switch hotels. The rooms were not clean, sheets were stained or had hair on them, and there was visible mold in the bathrooms. One of the rooms even had a shattered mirror. Do not stay here.
Rooms are small. The air conditioning in my room quit working last night. Started pushing hot air at about 3am wouldnt shut off. Room got up to 83 degrees. Tried to call the front desk, phone didnt work. No soap in the bathroom. Half the channels on the television didnt come in. Wont be going back.
The staff was friendly and this is why they have 2 stars. The hotel is in very rough condition. I was in need of a place to stay last minute and was able to book a room for cheaper than anywhere else downtown so I was not trying to be too picky. The staff was obviously frustrated by the lack of support from the upper management and the lack of Amenities and due diligence of the upkeep. The main elevators where out o service and had to use the staff elevator to get to my room. The hotel looks like it was an elegant place at one point. Now its a dead place. Was like a maze finding my room. Through very dirty hallways. I get that the part of the hotel we are directed to use is normally just for staff so the standards are not as high in that part. They did try to decorate it to make it less distracting. I finally entered where I would be staying and the hallway smelled of smoke and why seemed like urine or maybe old spilled booze or both. The walls were dirty and it felt very sketchy. I entered my room and was taken aback by the horrendous state. The walls looked dirty, the floor looked dirty. It stunk. The duvet had no cover instead just sheets on the top and bottom of it. The ceiling looked rough and like it was falling apart. The appliances did not all work only the tv and fridge. The bathroom was pretty rough as well. Does not look like it has been cleaned well for a long time, I stayed the night and feared for bedbugs but didnt see any. When I showered in the morning my skin reacted to either the dove soap or the washcloth. So that was not a good experience. Also I paid 3.00 for a Mt dew in the vending machine. It spit out a water. Maybe good for my health but not why I wanted. If you want a place with friendly staff and do not mind sleeping in an dusty old room, this is your spot. Otherwise I would pay a bit more and visit one of the other local hotels. No breakfast only coffee. No Amenities other than wifi (which worked well during my visit 🙂)
One of the worst hotels Ive ever stayed in. Price point is way of base for the quality. Dont stay here, none of the guest elevators worked, had to navigate through a maze of back hallways to the service elevator. Only one light in the room worked, the rest were Missing bulbs. The Tv remote didnt work for the TV. Definitely find a different place.
Didnt have a reservation but was able to check in on Friday 11/19/21 with check out on Sunday 11/21/21. Today, Saturday 11/20/21 we get a knock on our dior and its the housecleaning manager saying were checking out today. We explained this was not the case and she said she would handle it. Hour later we go downstairs and double check with the front desk to see if issue was solved. We talked to the same guy who handle us the day before saying were supposed to check out today. I said no you put us down to Sunday. So after a bit of back and forth he puts us in to check out tomorrow. And the staff at the front desk was not very friendly. Theres also a leak in our bathroom we let maintenance know about first thing this morning. Said hed look into it. No one has contacted us at all. Still leaking. No refrigerator, no microwave nor any ice on our floor even though it says it. Shower curtain rod is practically falling off the hinges. Talked to a few locals who say this place has gone down hill badly and boy theyre not kidding.
Gave us a room without working air, no toilet paper and covered in cobwebs. They also are providing no amenities because they claim covid but no one working is wearing a mask and all their elevators are out of service so you have to use the service elevator. Would not stay here again if it was free. There are no ice machines working across 9 floors. Ive met a few people here and tgey all had major issues with their rooms. This hotel looks nice from the outside but is falling apart on the inside. Of 9 elevators, only one is functioning. There is no breakfast even though it is advertised. Please trust me and do not waste your money here. I honestly feel bad for the staff because you can tell they feel helpless. Update there are ants all over our room the next morning and when we went to make coffee in the coffee maker, it was filled with moldy coffee grounds. Please do not waste your money here so my money wasnt wasted in vain.
ZERO star ratingWe had visited last weekend. Our friends kept certain electronics (2 Laptops,Chargers,a DSLR camera) in their room which was STOLEN! The room was locked with a Do Not Disturb sign hung on the door. We reached back to an open door and things missing. However, the staff at the reception and the manager were not helpful at all. The manager didn’t even come out to talk to us until we involved the cops! The cctvs “weren’t working”!That being said I would also like to mention that the rooms were extremely dirty with cigarette butts in the bathroom, a disgusting bathtub and stained sheets.EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL, LACKED HYGIENE, PRONE TO THEFT & ROBBERY!All in all a “HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE”.Please do not stay here!
We have stayed here before and although wasnt great, Was not horrible that we figured we would stay again... never again tho. We arrived and went to go upstairs and the passenger elevators were blocked off as out of order... handwritten signs directing us to staff elevator which also had a posted inspection certificate that had expired in 2019- its June 2021 now. We got to our room where we entered and the room was not just dirty but their were hundreds of drain flies covering the ceiling... we requested for another room, in which we had to beg and argue for.... btw the hotel was far from capacity... hardly ever a soul to be seen. Finally got a room, and again dirty, but even found what looked like blood or maybe food splattered on walls... also seemed to be a downgrade since now there was also no microwave or mini fridge either. The AC did not work, we kept getting up in the night to turn it on again but never got cool. No ice machines around, vending machines empty, shops all closed up, fountain in front does not operate, just a sad place to visit and an absolute rip off for 180 per night in Buffalo. Hotel is mismanaged and prob should be shut down for health and safety.
This hotel needs lots of work. The glass doors to enter the hotel don’t close all the way and the glass needs to be cleaned. The elevators don’t work except for one. The beds are very uncomfortable, AC doesn’t work so the room becomes humid quite easy and even the lobby of the hotel feels humid due to the uncirculated air. Wall paper is coming off the walls, there’s mold in different areas of the restroom, and the atmosphere of this hotel is not very welcoming. Needs too much maintenance. Hotel staff were great but this building needs to really be fixed.
First room smelled like smoke and horrible body order, transferred to second room, looked like it hadnt been properly cleaned in years. Found rat poop on the window ledge where I had to put my food because second room did not have a refrigerator like the first one did.Third and final room was ok at first look but I found rat poop on the box spring. Bathrooms are tiny. This place has so much potential, it is a shame that it is kept unclean, from the lobby to the escalator that takes you to the 3rd floor rooms. The hall that leads to the rooms is dark and scary..The pictures used are definitely not what you get at this property. The gentleman at the front desk didnt even sound shocked or surprised that I found rodent excrement. And although they gave me a discount for that horror, the damage was already done.I will never return to this property again. The staff is pleasant, the housekeepers and friendly but they need to do more than simply make beds and extra towels.
We pulled in parking lot and overall outside look abandoned and unkept. Against my better judgment I checked in. We decided to check the room out before taking our luggage in based on the looks of the outside. 😬. The hotel said their elevators were being worked on and the hotel was only operating at 20%. We had to take the service elevator to our room which was an extremely creepy and dirty journey. When we got off the elevator the hallways were dark and barely lite up (I felt like I was in a horror movie). Upon open our room door we were hit with the worst oder. We immediately retraced our steps and went to the front desk for our money back. The front desk didn’t even argue and gave money back which was the only good thing I can say about this hotel. THE WEBSITE IS 0% ACCURATE. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. What you see is NOT AT ALL what you get. Even the locals opinion was that this hotel should have been bulldozed years ago. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Only gave 1 star because I was forced to. Not worth the 1 star.
Great place to stay if your staying or visiting the city of brotherly love located right down town close to the night life and buisness section of buffalo so plenty to do within walking distance and if you go to the bar ask for Steve he will get you what ever you need just say your nephew Justin sent me or ask for my number.
Adams Mark is being renovated. Staying here was a huge mistake. to pay the downtown premium prices for a shut down unfinished hotel with poor service was a big mistake. I had a feeling i was in THE SHINING with unpapered long hallways, no one around. the air conditioner did not work. the room was updated but not the bathroom. Wait until revovations are done.
Stayed here in 2017 and had an enjoyable time, but it is unimaginable the degree of disrepair this hotel has fallen into. Everything seemed smelly and unclean. Really unfortunate to see such a demise. Pictures are completely inaccurate and do not reflect current accommodations. Highly recommend staying anywhere but here.
My room was dusty and the carpets were moist and STICKY. Every once in a while i would get a wiff of a pee smell. Disgusting. The elevator was broken even and Im assuming it was the housekeeping elevator we had to use? There were holes in the walls even... It was the grossest hotel Id ever staying in.Only booked it because it was last minute.
My daughter and I booked our stay through Priceline, to whom we will be making a complaint about our stay and probably won’t ever book with again given the lack of research. The hotel seems like an abandoned building and the few (3) employees who work there, aside from the nice custodian that showed us which way to find the service elevator, seem defeated by it all. No info was provided about where to park or how to navigate to our room. The elevator was “closed for maintenance” but after reading some of the other reviews it’s been out of service for well over a month. We were told the pool, bar, and other amenities were all closed due to COVID but again, based on the other reviews this isn’t a new development. There were obvious signs of water and other damage throughout the hotel. Our room, where to start? The bar lock for the door was broken off which felt a bit unsafe considering everything else, towels were stained and worn out, the bottom of our bathroom door was falling apart, there was no microwave an no fridge as advertised so we had to get ice from the desk in the lobby for the refrigerated items we had with us. The fixture above the door where the smoke detector usually is was broken and hadn’t been replaced. Basically none of the amenities listed online were included. Four unwrapped plastic cups were provided in the bathroom, the tv kind of worked but that’s about it. This is not a 3.5 star hotel and is definitely not worth $180 a night regardless of the location. Sorry to leave such bad review but I hope it helps someone make a better decision selecting a place to stay in downtown Buffalo.
This place is complete catfish. I could write for a while on how bad it is. But to sum it up, its overpriced, dilapidated, dirty, in disrepair, and bad. The first room they put us in had non working lights, broken a/c, and no pillow cases on the pillows. The guest elevators didnt work, we had to take the staff freight elevator. Which doesnt sound like a big deal, except you have to go through some sketchy back hallways that are not designed for guests. The man that checked us in didnt bother to mention they charge a $150/room security fee. Maybe Im not well traveled, but Ive never had that at any other hotel. His defense when called out on it was that it was written in small font on a 2x4 piece of paper taped to a panel of plexi. Apparently not seeing that was my fault. Ice machine on the 9th floor had garbage in it. (Literal garbage) The cafe had a now open sign on it, but had ottomans barricading the door closed. They got my bill wrong after all was said and done. Luckily I checked my account before I left Buffalo. All in all, this place is bad. I wouldnt stay here again even if it was free. Keep in mind this was $188/night, and we booked 2 rooms DONT DO IT.
Yes this hotel is creepy but like one of the most highlight of my trip is that🧟♂️:) it used to be cool and splendid I can tell. If you want to know more story about it, talk to the receptionist boy, you will gossip a lot about the hotel and the city. Everything is so ghost to me but I’m fine with it.
There is NOTHING Grand about this property at all!!!Would give it negative stars if I could. Immaculate entry way, beautiful old rolls Royce parked at entry as a “shuttle,” nice welcoming atmosphere… UNTIL you get to the hotel section. After listening to a domestic dispute for almost 3 hours next door, hearing skin on skin slap/hitting, my headboard and phone stand started shaking (I can only guess rooms are mirrored) , hearing a body hit the wall and scream then cry…. I packed up and left actually fearing what would be next. Front desk clerk at check in was amazing, when I called about this situation the person seemed bothered and annoyed that I brought it to their attention. I actually felt concerned for my own health , well-being, and safety since I was not able to see what possible couldHappen from that room next to me. The lack of care and concern by staff made me even more unsafe as I felt this is the “norm.” I have been traveling a majority of the year every year for 20 years now and WILL NEVER RECOMMEND,STAY, nor SET FOOT ON THIS PROPERTY again.Holes in walls “patched” with tape, bath mat hung on ledge of shower had dirt on it, bed had stains on sheet covering mattress, a broken coat hanger in the worker of room (children’s clothing hookHanger, not from hotel) , just an all around terrible experience.
This place must’ve been an amazing hotel some ages ago, but time hasn’t been kind to this hotel.Sticky ripped carpets, broken walls, dirty sheets, smells of cigarets, and complete lack of cleanliness. This place is nowhere near being able to be recommended.Stayed here because of the cheaper price, but 150 USD per night is a ripoff! This place is easily the worst even compared to motels. Please try to find some other place.
This is very dirty place its like scary hotels. They posted a picture when the hotel is new and looked beautiful. The lobby looms nice which is very misleading. Its a mess now and in construction they is a construction I understand but they no said nothing about. When I open the room I look at the bed is mess and room dirty I back to the lobby asking for my money back and leaving the dirty hotel. NO RECOMMENDATIONS!!!
Dont book here. We ordered through Priceline and the hotel looked amazing. Its actually dirty, falling into disrepair and even the lobby looks as though it hasnt been cleaned in months. Our rooms are disgusting and theirs left over crumbs from the person who stayed here last.
This was unquestionably the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at. The first room I went to didn’t have heat. The second one didn’t get over 62. This place is a hole and just being inside here made me think this place had bed bugs. Regardless of the pandemic or whatever there is no excuses for how deep in disrepair this place is. Absolutely horrid. The ceiling has water stains and was falling down in my room. Blows my mind how someone could honestly allow people to stay here. Simply unbelievable. Management should just shut this place down. Can’t believe they’re allowed to even have this place open. Wish I could give negative stars.
This place was COVERED in spiders. I dont mean little spiders, I mean man eating sized spiders. Downstairs was gorgeous, but once you got upstairs where the rooms are it was a bit eery. The parking machine that lets you in and out broke, so we had to deal with that when trying to leave. The men at the front desk were really nice and helped us out with that. The room appeared to be cleanly, but right outside our room in the hallway there was bagged up laundry and a pile of blankets and towels that were on the floor at the time of check in (7pm) and were still there when we checked out at 5am the next day. There was garbage all over the parking lot in front of the parking garage. The place has so much potential to live up to the name Buffalo Grand Hotel, however it seems very neglected. There was also bug traps in the hallways by the rooms and we found a couple spiders in our room that made quite the webbed homes for themselves. For 58 bucks I didnt complain to staff very much, you get what you pay for, I suppose.
Horribly misleading got the hotel off of hotel.com spent 100 bucks. When we got their the building smelt stale. The place was completely dirty. Even tho it said on hotel.com that they have a restaurant, bar, pool nothing was opened. Had to use the service elevator because other elevators were down. Got in the room and lets say white stuff on carpet, the latch was busted, the toliet paper roll holder was replaced without taking the other one off and there was a shower curtain with no liner so the bathroom flooded. Also looked like black mold started.. I understand everyone is trying to bounce back from covid but when you are close stay closed a lil longer for repairs and cleaning.
A lot of these 1 star reviews this place gotten recently I think are unfair. 1 star reviews are for hotels with roaches or mold or dirty sheets. This place is not one of those even a little bit.Yes, they are going thru some renovations and the budget for them was probably hit pretty hard during COVID, but the location is more than excellent, the sheets were clean, the faucet and shower water was hot (and cold!), and the staff is as friendly, helpful, and responsive as anyone could hope for from a hotel. If you need a place to lay your head for a night or two while youre in town and the price is right, you could do much much worse. The 5th star is missing from this review because a few minor things could be addressed: the parking garage could stand for some better lighting and a more clearly marked entrance to the hotel from it, and the humidity outside the weekend we visited was felt a bit in the lobby and hallways and was tough to eliminate completely in the room, but hopefully those will be fixed by the time renovations are complete! Thanks for a great stay, Buff Grand!
Would never recommend this place or go back. Unfortunately, it looks way better in the pictures. First, nothing is open...not even the elevators. They made us use the service elevators during a holiday weekend! Second, I booked my room directly online for a King bed. They claimed I didnt and then charged me $50 to upgrade. The room they gave us was a wheelchair accessible room and the shower drained into the middle of the bathroom. It honestly smells like weed everywhere you go. They charge $10 each time to park in the lot next to the hotel. The lights are barely on and the fountain isnt on either. It honestly looks closed and probably should be.
Do not stay here!! This hotel is infested with spiders. Our entire first night here was wasted because we had to switch rooms 3 different times. The first room was not as advertised. The second room had a massive amount of spiders dead and alive. On my way to the lobby to complain about the spiders I found dead ones in the hallway and on the floor. By the time we got to the third room it was 945pm and we were so aggravated and tired. The third room was missing pictures on the walls, a trash can, and towels. We couldnt wait to check out. This hotel is not worth the money.
This hotel is horrible. It needs to close immediately. The front desk person was sitting in the lobby watching a sporting event. The parking gate only works about 1/2 the time. And they have the nerve to charge for it. They have no desire to get better, and its clear that they dont take these reviews seriously. There are so few people staying there, so I dont understand why it was so filthy. Its unsafe and horribly lit. Dont do it!
Price was ok but you get what you pay for. The room that I was in was very dirty. There were spiders and other bugs everywhere. The windows were filthy the place just wasnt tidy at all. They agreed to move us another room but was then told that it possibly wouldnt be any better, due to the lack of staff. The person at the front desk handed us the cleaning supplies and I actually cleaned my own room. Being in the Heart of downtown means Nothing in this location. It was very dead and nothing is close so be prepared walk (have some sneakers handy). Also I dont know what other people are saying but due to the pandemic there its no breakfast. The staff put out cold coffee and some treats.
Worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. Old dirty holes in the wall. Took forever to bring up anything we ever asked for. The hotel lobby has spiders the side of doorbell. The windows are not cleaned, tbh either shut this hotel down or do something but needs new management and a major renovation
This is probably one of the dirtiest places Ive ever stayed in. Theyre very misleading. They put themselves on VRBO which I think is illegal. The pictures look nothing like the hotel when you get there. I spoke to another guess and he said he had 3 spiders the size of nickles in the window. The ac barely works.for two nights it was 295 not worth it. Its so bad I exactly start look into booking another room somewhere else Oh they dont have housekeeping ,its an outside company if you request that service you have to tip the guys or they wont clean your room
Terribly outdated hotel. Dingy, dirty and not even trying to improve. Only one of four of the elevators worked… And found that the fourth floor stairway and fire escape were padlocked shut from the inside. What is in town for bills game so was not looking for something fancy…found something far worse. Don’t stay here.
I went up to see my son this past weekend at Buffalo University and stood at the Buffalo Grand Hotel . I must admit, it is a bit outdated but the rooms in that hotel are very clean and the staff is so pleasant and helpful. It`s so Grand it made me feel like I was in Las Vegas. I would definitely stay there again. I hope they plan to update it .
Gave 2nd Star only because staff receptionist was polite & professional. After hiking 100 yards around to the 3rd floor room, it was not cleaned & beds not made. Immediately went back to receptionist to get another room, but was told none were available. Even though only saw two other guests & only three or four cars were in the parking garage. And the hotel is ~ 20 stories. -_- Left and when to another hotel.
I was allowed to book a room with a king bed, microwave, coffee maker and fridge and when we got here told there was no rooms with king beds. When I questioned the desk clerk about it I was asked simply if I wanted to stay or not, not offered any apology or price reduction or benefit at all. Like we actually had many options after a two hour drive. There was someone elses garbage openly visible on the floor when we walked in. Spiderwebs everywhere and there was no coffee maker or microwave and no back on the remote. Not pleased.
The hotel in General is in a very bad condition and wit that is very expensiveThe sealing of the room is almost in a bad shape and in the bathroom is even worst , the hotel is outdated and need renovations completely .Noticed some bugs and spiders due to hotel we shut down because of the pendamic .No room service , elevator is not working .Not woth the money spended for staying in it .
This was the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed at! The gentleman at the front desk was very pleasant, but that does not forgive the state of dismay this hotel finds itself in. My brother and I checked in and when we got to our room there was a large hard crusty stain on one of the beds. We only stayed because we could not get another room anywhere else. We literally tried 15 other hotels. We told them we wanted a new room and even in this room we found cobwebs in the corners and alot of stains on the carpet which have not even been vacuumed in weeks. The photos are extremely deceiving for this hotel. There are rotten smells all through the building. If someone you really hate asks for advice on a hotel to stay at recommend this place.
Rooms are filthy and dilapidated, the room I stayed at lacked a fridge, and the coffee maker had who know how old used grounds in it. The whole hotel looks run down. And to top it all off the price is outrageous for what is provided. I wish I had taken a look at all of the reviews prior to booking.
Checked in on 8/27/20 @ 8:54pm.Customer in front of me No Face Covering On leaning on customer counter as the front desk agent (Also Not Wearing A Face Covering please review front desk video) is sitting what appeared to be a back computer having a general conversation with the No Face Covering customer. When checking in, parking lot was not explained (even after paying $10 for it), how to get to my room (as elevators were down) escalators only go to the third-floor took the stairs from third floor dirty linen was in walk way). The non wearing face covering customer and agent were witnesses coming from the third floor next to one another both with no face covering“All employees are required to use face coverings, gloves and consistent use of sanitizer.” States the message I received upon confirmation.Section 66-3.2 Face-Coverings mandates all employees in direct contact with customers and the public to wear a face covering. This same employee was observed walking next to one another then before coming down escalators (looks like direct contact to me)I ordered food which came about 11:49p and received a call from a Tyrone telling me I would have to come and get my food from the front desk because of Covid-19 the hotel does not allow room deliveries which is contrary to a welcome massage I received with Confirmation & booking number that reads as follows: “ Dear valued guests,We are looking forward to welcoming you to the Buffalo Grand Hotel. We would like to take a moment to inform you on some important items relative to your upcoming stay at the hotel given the COVID19 pandemic.1-All Restaurant and bars are closed.• We offer complimentary muffins, coffee and bottled water in the morning to all of our guests.• We do encourage room deliveries at any time during your stay.(Tyrone was very rude and either needs to be retrained on how to talk to customers as I begin to ask questions he became defensive and told me I’m going to allow it this one time ) I set up contactless room delivery for a reason as I wear once a days that had been disposed and had taken a nap let alone I don’t even know how to get back down stairs)Let’s not even talk about the no privacy curtains in room 437 total dignity issue and when asked for another room was told none were available by mr. non wearing face covering agent.Just a whole disaster and bad choice of even trying this hotel.
It was......an experience. It was definitely a post apocalyptic covid19 environment. Our room was........clean the windows early in the morning and late in the evening had spiders different sizes. (Mother and babies) room as never cleaned because of short staff and Covid 19 safety reasons I guess. But the beds were comfortable. The AC leaked. They had accommodations at request. But what I would like to see how this place runs when covid19 is over and they get things jumping again. I will give them another chance.
I stayed at this hotel with a friend for over a week I did not get my money back for The accidental once I left this hotel its extremely outdated the elevators dont work and some floors are very dark also they are infested with mice and have not done anything about it!!! They do not even come in the rooms and clean them I do not recommend a stay here at all because theyre now charging for 411 a night due to high demand but I dont understand how that is possible when the hotel stay is not even worth it and in the beginning it was only $50 a night rediculous!!!!
From the pictures you would think this place is what you see is what you get... Not even close. First, They doubled the deposit the day of my visit even though on the internet they said it was single price and they would not accommodate😒. Once finally getting checked in, we looked for the room for 20 minutes because of the somewhat directions given to us, just to have a dirty room😟! They were quick at giving us another. Now, Im not sure if they are renovating or what not but it could definitely use some clean up and the room wasnt anything I expected. Ive honestly had better rooms at the Quality Inn. This would probably be a second to last resort.
I shouldn’t even be giving it one star... we couldn’t stay. we get to the hotel and it’s already dirty and empty but that’s okay as long as the room is clean... well it wasn’t. we get to the room and it hadn’t been cleaned from the last guests, towels everywhere, dirty pillows on the floor. unmade beds. when trying to get a refund we were told that it was dirty because people have been breaking in and sleeping in the rooms! then took 30 minutes to get a refund... 10/10 don’t recommend
Room has a smell of urineAC could lower temp below 80°ONLY ELEVATOR THAT WORKS IS THE EMPLOYEED ELEVATORno poolno restaurantno bar.79.95 is Ripoff.rent a tent.it will definitely smell better.Sign says No Divinggood thing both pools are empty.Balthroom no bigger than a portapotty
From a cost and location standpoint, the Buffalo Grand Hotel was the best option for us during our recent stay in Buffalo. This is a case of You get what you pay for. Most of the amenities of the hotel were shut down. This was attributed to COVID but it felt more like the hotel is struggling financially and cant justify keeping the restaurant, fitness center, swimming pool, etc open to guests. The main elevator was out of service during our entire four day stay and getting to and using the service elevator was a hassle (after the first day, we took the escalator to our 2nd floor room; the escalator access is through the atrium/bar area, which is unstaffed and not air conditioned). The hallway where our room was located was dingy with stained and scraped walls and carpet. If you are looking for a hotel with good access to downtown at a price that the other major hotels dont match, and you are willing to put up with the shortcomings of the Buffalo Grand, it might work for you.
A few weeks ago I attended a conference at the Buffalo Grand Hotel with a group from my church. The overall experience was good as the main convention center was nice and the layout was very open. The lobby looked beautiful and newly renovated. However the rooms were not as great for instance; there were sewage problems leading it to smell bad all the time, the ceilings were peeling off in the corners, and some of the people in my group were having major problems with the heating and cooling system in that it wouldnt work. It worked out that because it was a conference we were never in our room for very long however the rooms still need lots of work.
Dirty! Spiders EVERYWHERE. They changed my room, but more spiders there too!I think they charge us more than they deserve for the type of service they provide.I couldn’t stay there. Luckily, they gave me a full refund. The building is not maintained at all, and they blame Covid-19 for the lack of stuff. The front desk guy was adorable though. But the hotel itself is HORRIBLE! Apocalyptic. The owners should be very ashamed for having this building still open to the public.
Poor maintenance. The smell in the hallway was so strong from the mold. Parking isn’t free, the hotel staff didn’t bother to even provide toilet paper in the room until after asked. Even after asking the guy said “that might be hard to find” which is ridiculous. They say breakfast is included but there’s nothing when looked for. The refrigerator didn’t work, had to throw our food as it was spoiled. Overall poor service and wouldn’t bother going back there ever again.
Stayed there 2 weeks ago at the end of October. The room never got higher than 64. The hot water, was warm at best. NEVER got hot.I went to the front desk to complain and The lady their was wearing a cold and she said tell me about the cold. She was cold too. The hotel was cold. This is unacceptable. I asked for a refund via booking.com where I booked my reservation for 2 nights and they said the refund was rejected because I didnt bring my complain to the front desk, which is exactly what I did. Terrible experience all around and they dont have the decency to correct their mistake!!
Honestly, I dont understand all these negative reviews. The staff were friendly, rooms were clean, and the lobby / lounge was very nice. Two minor issues - the walls are very thin. Also, the shower head is less that 6 feet tall. Im 58 and my head hit it. I thought it was kind of funny, and not really an issue. All said and done I think the hotel is doing everything in its power to get some positive reviews.
This hotel is absolutely disgusting. There was a large red stain next to the bed which I would assume was blood. The comforter was dingy and had an odd smell. There were holes in the walls throughout the hallway. The toilet seat was stained, there was hair in the bathtub. The outlet in the bathroom was burned, as if something had started on fire which made me nervous. The door itself was extremely nasty, it had brown and red streaks on it. I checked in, went into the room and tried to call the front desk to re locate to a clean room but my phone was broken. I checked out within an hour of being there as it was so disgusting.
Avoid this hotel at all costs. It is an absolute trainwreak. The outside and lobby look very nice but there are so many issues. Half of the elevators were out of order, and the ones that did work squeaked. The carpeting in the hall and in the rooms was stained, torn up, and ratted. The air conditioner did not work at all. There was a hole in the wall of the room. The shower did not work at all and the tiles were cracked with some missing. The pool was so cloudy and green that we could not see the bottom at the shallow end. When we asked to check out and get a refund the manager was rude about it and we did not get a full refund.
They are struggling, it is clear. It was their reopening night, I hope things improve. No air conditioning in the lobby, or the halls, and we had to be moved because our first room didnt have any either. Escalator only, so if you are in a wheelchair, dont stay here for now. No lights in the hallway to the hall of rooms they were using. Cheap yes but so many things needed attention. I dont think they cleaned the doors to the one floor they were using at all while we were there. The staff is trying, very pleasant, but there are too few of them to undertake.I really feel bad for them but Id want to be warned if I was thinking of staying there.
Very nice hotel, very clean, quite. Our room was clean, bed was very comfy. Pool was well kept. Could not figure out how to get the sauna to work. Bad part was $15 parking fee for over night, which was not told until we checked in, would have been nice to know that head of time. Other wise was a great stay.
Staff was really friendly and supportive. However, the room was extremely dirty, bags of chips were laying around behind the nightstands, the floor looked like it hadnt been cleaned in 10 years, and the room smelled really bad. this is during covid times where cleanliness is paramount.
We arrived to our ice cold hotel room with the broken heater sounding like it had rocks in it and smelly because off the garbage in it. Then, we noticed the hair in the tub and stains on the carpet. We didn’t want to take our shoes off because it felt so dirty. Not to mention the busted door lock. We call down to request maintenance and no one showed up. After an hour of waiting we called again and once maintenance arrived we were assigned a new room. Only to get to the new room and realize that the thermostat was busted and the room was a sauna. The lock was broke in this room too and there was someone else’s old toothpaste all over the bathroom. If you have any food restrictions, you’re out of luck at their cafe and restaurant. When we told the front desk that the second room was also a disaster they compensated us by removing our parking charge fee that we didn’t know was additional until we arrived. The escalator broke with people on it, the parking garage elevator doors wouldn’t open and the entire place is just an out dated disaster. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT stay here.
Had a room booked for October 20 but didnt check-in in until almost 11pm, after a concert I attended. Check-in was very quick & easy, clerk was very personable and friendly and I was pleasantly surprised that restaurant was now open until 2am! Host Christopher was an absolute gem - he was quick to seat me, extremely helpful with portion sizes for on the menu, very attentive and charming to talk with. The fare was reasonably priced, good portions and very tasty. The room decor was a bit dated, but very comfortable. The bed was extremely comfy, with wonderful pillows and provided a very restful sleep.Aside from the toilet running when I arrived in the room & not a lot of water pressure when I showered, the only other minor complaint I had was having to park at the furthest end of the lot and walking a bit of a distance to the hotel with my bags - I was already aware of the parking charges from other reviews.Check-out was very quick & again the clerk was very personable. I mentioned both the positive & negative aspects of my stay and was reassured by a Manager that they are under new management and there would be a number of changes and repairs in the coming months. All in all, a very nice hotel that I will definitely make a point of staying at in future!!
Horrible, once you get there the The hotel lobby and spaces on the first floor seem like they just came out of storage post covid, which is understandable However our room had spiders, spider webs, bed bugs on the ceiling that would probably dead- i hope . None of the elevators were working, we had to take the escalator with our luggage, none of the vending/ice machines were working, and the place smelled moldy. I understand this is the covid era and that there may be a shortage of workers, however when you put a sticker that states and I quote this place has been sanitized on the door of my room, what I expecting is not spiders and huge webs laying around on the ceiling and an orange sofa chair with mouse poop under the cushion that was propped up when I came in. I am attaching the pictures as proof. Why I stayed? I was only going to sleep for 6 hours before dropping off our son at Buffalo University in the morning since we got there at 10:00 p.m. at night
The hotel has changed ownership and the hotel is in transition. The rooms are dated, windows are hazy and the shower head was at my chest.Housekeeping only showed up 2 of 3 mornings we were there. I called the front desk and they offered to clean the room at 8pm it was too late. Heard from other guests it happened to them as well. The restaurant food was fine and the service was ok. At checkout no one asked how my stay was and looked uninterested. It looks like they planning a big renovation in the coming year. I hope that includes better housekeeping and staff.
Stayed here last weekend while we were in town for a wedding. Pretty deceiving place. Outside looked great with a fountain, and the lobby/ common areas were pretty nice. Room looked clean on the surface, but the sink drained very slow and filled up quick. Ice machines on every floor but only 1 worked. No mini fridge in the room. There was significant mold in our room by the AC unit, and in the bathroom. We mentioned it to the front desk and got a thanks for letting us know and didnt seem very concerned. Just keep an eye out if you stay there.
The lobby/bar area is nice. The room and amenities awful. The room is old and needs work. Our room key card kept not working and we had to keep getting a new one. We had no mini fridge. The heating unit was so loud and kept waking me up. The cleaning service was also not good. Garbage still on the floor, beds made sloppily, and not even a sign to put on your door for “Do Not Disturb”. We were here for a hockey tournament. Other families from another team left because they said they saw bed bugs. Signs posted say renovations coming. In my opinion they should close, make those renovations and then reopen. I would never stay here again.
Theyre working on fixing it up since switching it over from an Adams Mark so I can forgive a lot of the dated aspects of the decor but they seem to be lacking in all the little details you expect from something with Grand and resort in the name. Front desk staff is friendly but seem to forget about the details, most glaringly explaining parking options, other than saying its extra. Theyve put some work into the lobby and restaurant and its clean and modern but just seems like a veneer. Then theres the room, overall seems updated and the bedding is nice, but again its the details. The refrigerator and lights didnt work when I got there and there was no ironing board. They worked quickly to fix these things and Im not that picky but again, for the price and what they promise they just seem to miss the mark.
For a grand hotel, there was nothing grand about it. Sure, it was pretty, and offered the most basic amenities. It was dog friendly and close to where I needed to go. However, breakfast was $14, parking was a nightmare. $15 a day, and they offer a red card so you dont have to keep buying tickets, but the machine was broken, so I had to buy tickets twice, and they still tried to charge me at check out. In my opinion, Best Western has a much better experience, and is cheaper
Rooms were extremely small. We booked a family room for 5 and didnt have room to move around at all. The pool was ice cold, my sons lips turned blue. There were doors leading from the pool to a courtyard that had moss growing on the interior. We asked for more towels the first night and didnt receive any, had to request a second time when housekeeping came around. There was an employee vacuuming who completely ignored I was trying to get through the lobby, had to dance around him to get past. Another guest said they had bed bugs in the first room, and the heat didnt work in the second room. Out of 4 elevators we were lucky if 2 worked at any given time. Elevator licenses were 4 months expired. Many small things we noticed where there was just no upkeep, such as broken trash cans in the room. There were numerous leaks in the parking garage as well as spots the concrete was cracked. The shower was so small that everytime I moved the curtain opened and flooded the bathroom. Not much selection for TV channels. Fridge in the room ran warm.
I went there recently for a conference. I’ve had my share of great hotels and I’ve encountered bad ones. This one was the WORST! People in our delegation didn’t have a shower curtain after one was brought up they had to install it themselves. My room had terribly dated furniture. The mattress was old, and bed sheets were cheep. I elected to sleep in my hoodie. Our faucets were leaky. The store in the hotel is terribly overpriced. 2 8 once ice teas cost $8. it was like the hotel was trying to nickel and dime us for all we had. Dinning was average at best. The hallway to the bathrooms in the conference center smelled of urine, really the hotel was just full of strange smells and awkwardly placed furniture. They spoke about remodeling but I didn’t see any construction. It was like they were pushing the fact they were remodeling so that people wouldn’t complain as much... the front desk staff was nice, but even they couldn’t make up for the MANY other flaws of the hotel. Don’t stay there if you don’t have to...please consider another hotel....it is not worth it at all....
What Didnt I Like? Well A Lot1) Lets Begin With The Staff That Actually Was Rude And Unhelpful, Had To Call The Guy 3 to 4 Times Because He Was Watching a Sports Game show. ALSO I Had To Talk To The Guy 3 More Time Cause He Gave Me The Wrong Room Three Times Consecutively.2) There Was No Room Service, Barely Any Employee Working, The Swimming Pool Was Closed Ages Ago Its A Horrible Place To look at, The Bar That They Had Was Closed Too And Its Been A Long Time Since Theyve Opened it, No Gym Cause It Was Actually In Horrible Conditions.3) NO ELEVATORS!!!!! The Principal ELEVATORS From The Grand Hotel Were Actually Closed And Havent Even made Any Maintenance plans for it, The Only ELEVATOR That We all Could Use was The Employee Elevator From The Laundry All The Way To The Back.4) The Parking Lot Of The Hotel, Total Mess And Opened To The Public, It Doesnt Feel Like Youre Vehicle Its Safe, And That Anyone Could Stole It.5)The Rooms!!! Well The Most Important Part Of The Hotel Were In Not Good Conditions, Starting With Opening The Door, Smelled Like Cigarettes on Them and The Carpet Inside The Room Was Dirty To The Point That You Couldnt Walk On Youre Bare Feet Cause Of The Nasty Look That It Had, On The Windows Lots Of Dead Mosquitos And Insects It Was Unbelievable And The Crazy Part Is That On The three Rooms That I Was Changed Looked All The Same And Smelled The Same, The Electronics Were So Old That You Could Barely Use Them And In Some Cases You Couldnt, Also The Rooms Looked Like The Havent Been Cleaned In Quite Some Time Cause Of All The Dust It Had, after All A Total Disgrace Place.6) The Hotel Entrance is Not On Good Conditions Either, With Broken Doors And The Street On Front Of The Hotel is Making A Total Nightmare of The Place, It Doesnt Even Had The Full Hotel Name On The Entrance, Only Hotel Letters Are Now Displayed, The Fountain On Front Of The Hotel That Actually Gives The Hotel A Great Look Is Also On Poor Quality Conditions And Not Operating No More.Thats All That I Can Remember From The Place Cause It Was Actually A Experience That You Wouldnt Want To Remember At All. THE GOLDEN DAYS OF THE GRAND HOTEL ON BUFFALO, NY WERE GONE FOR GOOD7) Nobody Cares About Anything And The Repairs and Maintenance Arent Coming Any Time Soon Cause Obviously The High Heads Of This Hotel Arent Doing Anything About It.I Can Believe That The Grand Hotal Was Actually Awesome On Its Prime Golden DAYS But Not Anymore.NOT A RECOMMENDED HOTEL
After reading all of the reviews the night before our stay, it made me worry if we were going to have a comfortable night in buffalo. The hotel is still going through renovation at the time of our stay. We were not affected by any construction at all. The lobby and restaurant/bar area look great. The rooms could be better but they are clean and comfortable. They are redoing the rooms. We stayed on the 8th floor. Our room looked like it’s been redone. New ac, wallpaper, beds and etc. Some areas show age but overall still a good stay. As seen by the pictures it’s not all that bad compared to all the reviews I’ve read.
There was no comforter or blanket, the rooms were kind of old, but the water was warm and the lobby is nice. From desk was accommodating. Weird paint on our floor, gross acrylic nail in our air cooler haha. Was a fine place to stay but not too luxury. Nice secure place to park.
I always try never the type to leave negative reveiws, but here goes. Upon arrival I heard the front desk admin arguing with a man because they took to long for his deposit and he put him on mute to talk to me and tell me that he didnt care. The elevators are down the hallways smell like weed, believe it might partially be a shelter or something. Also there are mice and mouse traps. Everytbing is basically closed there. And lastly when i did a early check out they just grabbed my my cards and said im all set. I was very confused by the whole ordeal. In conclusion im not giving this review to complain, im saying this to so that you dont get fooled by the pictures this hotel is literally collasping and there is no plan to fix it. I went ahead and booked another stay at a better location. I dont want a refund I dont want the owner to make it right i just feel like the customer has tge right to know.
Don’t be fooled by the nice fountain in the front of the hotel. It’ll be the nicest part of your stay. Hotel is under new ownership and in major need of renovation and investment. Old rooms with broken beds, AC didn’t work in our first room and the second room was borderline. Common areas were dirty; the locker room and gym was very dirty. Banquet meals didn’t have any water out multiple times though the food was a bright spot. Coffee shop staff was working hard, but that’s about it. If our event wasn’t there, we would have left. All for $155 a night. Terrible value.
Five stars? Am I freaking crazy? No. After a recent trip to Buffalo for an NHL game and youth hockey tournament I protested staying in this hotel because of the reviews. It may have taken 45 minutes to check in but this is a great place to stay, we had a really good time. The rooms are old but sufficient. The hotel is massive, was packed when we were there and the whole weekend felt like one big party.
I spent a night here and I found it to be very nice. The room was clean and had no issues. The staff there was very nice and they helped me with directions to local areas to eat and buy some snacks. The lobby could use some work but they were in the midst of refurbishing it at the time of my stay. I had no issues whatsoever! Would definitely recommend because it is very affordable compared to competing hotels in the area!
Rating is boosted a star because the front desk staff was very nice, even after we said we were leaving after the second room they put us in was not cleaned to any standard. There was dust on everything which under the Covid-19 guidance, I think that shouldnt happen. There was a french fry on the floor next to the bed. The microwave digital numbers were not readable. Im pretty sure we wont go back.
The room was pretty dirty. There was blood on the bathroom wall, that I took upon myself to clean with a washcloth. There was a tile missing out of our shower, with visible concrete showing, which wasnt very appealing to look at. The mirrors were filthy. Bed was comfortable, but they only provided us with 3 pillows for the entire King size bed! Overall we enjoyed our stay, but it could have been better.
Would have given a two Star because there were a lot of spiders and it needs renovations. However I stayed there on the 25th of August and the two gentlemen at the front desk were very hospitible and friendly. That goes a long way with me and because of them I had a good night. They deserve a raise.
I would not recommend this hotel to someone desperate for a place to stay the night. My biggest issue was with management. We paid ahead of time through an online booking service and then was also charged for the room on the card I had used for incidentals. Easy mistake, should be an easy fix. Except that you cannot get anyone on the phone or to answer calls. I left three voicemails for the manager over three days, along with messages for their accounting extension as well. The booking service was able to step in and refund me that cost, but I still have yet to hear back from the hotel at all.Aside from that, impressions of the hotel itself:They say that there are renovations going on, I hope that they have a big budget because they are desperately needed. When we entered the room the made bed sheets were completely wrinkled like they had been picked off the floor. The bathroom wallpaper was peeling and the soap holder was ripped off the wall and sitting on the sink counter with exposed concrete in the shower. When I called the hotel about all they said was Okay, Ill make a note. The walls seemed paper thin and the toilet ran all day and night. At no point did I feel clean or comfortable. I guess they deserve this one star for keeping us out of the rain at night. Save yourself the trouble and just pay for an Uber if you cannot find another hotel downtown.
This place was disgusting! We were going to stay for 3 nights but left after one to go to a different hotel. The bathtub wouldnt drain after taking a shower, the sheets had stains all over them, the room was disgusting- there was garbage left in the dresser drawerer with a receipt from a month beforehand. The staff was rude. One of the elevators was broken and people kept getting stuck in it. On our way out we observed staff trying to get into a guests room because she was locked out and they literally couldnt get into this poor ladies room. I could keep going on how terrible this place was....I wish I could post the pictures I took.
Had a great stay at this hotel and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. The rooms were a bit worn, but they were in the process of renovating, so I am looking forward to the upgrades.Apparently we visited during the time of the annual pull the fire alarm game, but that was no fault of the Buffalo Grand.I recommend this hotel, the staff were attentive, the hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable and they have quite a variety of amenities.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!I just returned from a hockey tournament in Buffalo where the team stayed at this hotel. They say we are under renovation however no sign of any updates. I asked at the front desk if any rooms where completed and NO was the answer. No phone in our room, no room service, mold ALL over the bathroom tub, water leaking down into the bathroom from the floor above, gross old carpets, towels are frayed they are so old and the list goes on. The lobby is the best part of this hotel but once you are through it, everything else is NOT so Grand at all. All of the walls are damaged, even the elevator buttons are cracked and broken. Dont waste your money. Stay anywhere else.
The pics look nice online. It is not. You walk into a beautiful lobby but then you get to your room. The pool is dirty and disgusting and not heated. The rooms are small and outdated. The ac whined all night long. It is 15 dollars to park a car over night. For about the same price e for this room you could have stayed at a smaller motel and gotten a free breakfast at least. The only reason I even gave it two stars is because the staff is very nice and cordial.
I stayed at the buffalo grand hotel from 09/06 - 09/08/19 and my stay was wonderful. The staff was nice the room was nice honestly it was a decent room you had all your basics. Some reviews said there were bedbugs and they werent clean but our room was pretty awesome and the house keepers are always on the floor meaning they are always cleaning . The pool may look dirty but honestly its the color of the water but when you walk in you can definitely tell they put chlorine in it. I had a nice time there , we stayed on floor 9
Very old hotel, good place to stay if you just need a place to rest your head for the night. Otherwise the rooms and the entire hotel are in desperate need of an upgrade. Rooms are basic, standard rooms dont come with a mini bar. Cleanliness is questionable. All ice machines on all floors were broken. Beds were comfortable. Staff were pleasant. Stayed here for a night to see a concert at the KeyBank Center. Overall, it was fine for a nights stay.
This place definitely shows its age. Its dirty and outdated. My room felt like a sleazy hotel, beds are shot, hangers left on the wall where pictures once hung, pulls missing from dresser drawer. Staff was miserable, they did not want to be there and didnt make me feel welcome. Renovation is supposed to be happening but it looked very cheaply done. Would never stay again!
Its a nice hotel. Maybe not as grand as they make themselves out to be, but it had all the amenities one needs in a hotel. The rooms were comfortable enough. They had a restaurant, bar, spa, etc. Importantly, it was very affordable. As a tourist, thats really all I want. A cheap base where I can park my luggage as Im seeing the local sites.I will mention that they are currently undergoing renovations. Its not an inconvenience, it didnt impact my stay, just something to know.
Over all the room was okay. Expected a fridge in the room there was no fridge. They have a cabinet for one but it was a trick. Some of the walls look rough and the elevator gives you a nano second to get on or off. Bathroom is small. The sauna in the pool area was broken. The major problem came when we decided to go to the restaurant.1. The hostess watching over the place was more concerned with organizing something and made us wait 10 or so minutes before the bar tender told her that we were waiting.2. After getting seated we were okay until she took our order and refilled our water once which comes in a small glass you can drink in two sips. She disappeared in put our order in 10 to 15 minutes later. She then did not get my husband his drink for a long period of time only to find out they did not have the drink he wanted.3. We waited an HOUR till our food came with no refills on our drinks. We almost walked out.4. I order an appetizer and it came with my food. My steak was borderline cold and my appetizer was slightly warmer than my food.5. My husbands food was hot which made it seem like they cooked the food one thing at a time. We then got our check and the waitress was never seen again.6. We wanted to cash out and get a box which took forever and overheard a guy say his order was also messed up.All in all we complained and the actual host tried to make things right, but the kitchen needs better time management and if they want the cafe girl to watch the restaurant make sure she knows what the hell she is doing. This may seem harsh but having worked in the culinary industry for 18 years I can say that this restaurant needs help.If you stay at this hotel you may want to find a different place to eat.
The hotel is outdated, yes. But it was still nice looking and did the job. The room door didnt close on its own, you had to pull it shut. The bed comfortable enough. There was a line to check in but it went fast. Everyone who worked there was nice and helpful. There was easy parking but we shouldnt have to pay extra for that. Breakfast was great, but they ran out of beverages. We got them quickly when asked for. Overall , good 1 night stay.
Parking is easy and $10 a night. The staff was very friendly. The bar area was inviting and the service was quick. The lobby looks great. Our room was well-appointed and clean as a whistle. Would definitely stay here again because the location is with walking distance of many things and easily accessible to the interstate.
Avoid the Grand if you can. Neither the rooms nor the event facilities were satisfactory. The beds were over used, the rooms cold cinder walls, and the internet anemic by dial up standards. The event experience was no better. The steak was over cooked and cold from sitting too long, the vegetables over cooked and cold from sitting too long. The staff did one coffee service only to disappear for 30 minutes, come back and pour cold coffee.Ive no doubt they will give your organization a great deal on paper. In reality they will give your people a great deal of disappointment.Take your money elsewhere.
When I go to check in I get the security guard who is also the front desk clerk tells me that I shouldnt stay there. That they were very short staffed and most of the rooms heat/ac didnt work. The room I was given was never cleaned after the last people that stayed in it. The beds werent made and there were wet dirty towels on the bathroom floor. Its pathetic how this place has gone from one of the nicest hotels in Buffalo to this.
It was no better than a motel 6 and double the price. The pool was nice and staff was good, but at the end of the day it is all about the room and it was small and pathetic. Not the cleanest and the beds were descent at best. Now it has the potential to be amazing. Take the popcorn ceiling off and do some much needed updates, put a mini fridge, a coffee maker, the basics.....
The room was clean, but the hotel is definitely dated and it really shows in the hallways. Our level ice machine wasnt working and the drinks in the vending machine were expired. The staff was very helpful and polite. Overall I think everything was fine for the price.
We were given the wrong room when we first arrived. Once we had the right room the hallway our floor was on was incredibly dirty and had an over power scent. The bed was super uncomfortable the shower head was missing a piece and the coffee pot was missing the part you put the coffee in. Only good thing about that stay was the bartender.
The room was awful. It was dirty! The bathroom floor was not swept. There was plastic and hair all on the floor. The beds were uncomfortable and old. There was a spring stabbing me in my back all night. Half of the outlets didnt work. The microwave was on a random table in the room. It was super small and the air conditioning wasnt the greatest we put it on 60 in order for it to get to 72 degrees in the room. Called numerous times for extra towels before we received any. There were stains on our sheets, pillow cases and comforters. When we first arrived, we expected so much more because the front entrance, the lobby and the bar/restaurant is beautiful but it was very deceiving when you look at the rooms. The pool water had a greenish tent to it so we decided not to swim. They had no ice machines only an ice chest (if thats what you want to call it because it looked more like a trash can) and had it no scoop in it to get the ice, I had to use the ice bucket to scoop it out which is very unsanitary because your hands still touch the ice and thats a lot of hands reaching in the ice chest in a day. Coming from a frequent traveler, it was definitely not a great hotel to stay in!!! Only plus side I see is it did not have any bed bugs!! It definitely was not a grand experience.
Absolutely the worst hotel ever.Tried 3 different rooms because all of them had water damage, peeling wall paper, moldy, thread bare carpets, broken plaster bits on the floor, etc. We actually had water dripping from the bathroom 1 floor above us. I’m surprised that I didn’t catch anything from those horrendous rooms and conditions. The front desk staff are also completely incompetent - gave us rooms that were already occupied, or had people barge into our room. Also, only 1 barely working elevator out of 4.We went there with a tour group, and many in our group complained of the same things.Sure looked good from the outside, but things are 100% rotten and disgusting from the inside.
We made a quick online reservation and paid (our first mistake) before arriving due to the roads being absolutely terrible for our 2 hour drive home. We arrive and they say that that theyre not actually sure if they have a room available for us. This led to us standing in the lobby for 30 minutes for them to figure it out. We get to our room and the bathroom is so small you have to stand behind the toilet to close the door. The heater made the most god awful screeching noise every 2 minutes (I timed it) that lasted 25 seconds in duration. In my opinion we would have been better off sleeping in the car.
The overall experience was okay. We came down here for a Leafs vs Sabres game. Check in was quick considering the long lines.Staff: fantasticRooms: Dirty, out dated, had all amenities you would need.Restaurant: We came here after the game for some drinks. The food was decent but we were also quite intoxicated so everything would have tasted great. Overall the price was cheap, this is a no frills hotel that is a place to lay your head with decent location.
I am only giving it 2 stars because of walking distance the mini fridge had sticky soda stains and garbage can near it filled bed sheets had a huge burn hole in it which I did not discover til next day used bar of soap in bathroom ice machine room had trash in corner and ice machine had no ice but did have some trash in it I have videos and pics to back this up I chose this hotel because of its 5 star rating UGH!
Excellent location. Very nice hotel if the fixtures are a little older. Parking is $10 a night. Only real complaint is that the pool has been too cold. Most rooms have double beds which are too small for us but the excellent staff went well out of their way to find a room that suited. Thats enough to make me want to come back next time Im in town.
Horrible experience. The hotel is very dirty and needs a lot of renovations. Cracks all over the walls and ceiling. AC/heating unit isnt completely attached so is just hanging from the wall. Add on top the horrible noise it makes. Service was horrible as when we asked to at least switch rooms was told no we couldnt. Now we are moved, same floor and just next room over. Still same issues. Absolutely do not stay here. At least not until the renovations are done. Now we get the joys of getting up and down all night long to regulate the air since their units do not work.
I was at this hotel to attend a conference. You have a lovely hotel lobby and It looks like you have grand plans. Sadly, they must be far away.As I sat in my restroom and I could hear bits of the crumbling wall fall behind me, I actually felt I was one of the lucky ones since my room was “not too bad”.It had caked dust on the desk. No fridge or microwave. 3 out of the 5 light bulbs were burnt out in the bathroom. Curtains were askew. We got our keys in a brown paper envelope. I did carefully check the bed before sleeping on it.People in my group had worse problems and needed to be moved.Other people at the conference had to be moved several times and 1 even got keys to a room with someone already in it. I heard someone explain the computer system wasn’t telling them which rooms were cleaned. I guess they needed a notepad! Low tech to the rescue.Where were your managers to make it right? People should have been offered some kind of compensation. A free drink at the bar?? Free snacks?? Something. It seems your hotel is in transition and you are experiencing problems. It also appeared your staff were kinda downtrodden. You have some great staff. I forgot toothpaste. I went the front desk to ask for some. The lady got me some and as while she was opening the box another male staff said, in my presence, that the toothpaste was to be sold in gift shop. She smiled at him, honored her statement that she would get me one and gave it to me.
Check in took over an hour. Room did not have a coffee maker, microwave or fridge. Bathrooms were dirty. Floors were never swept. Curtains wouldnt close. Food and gift shop were very pricey. Some rooms had no ac. Some rooms had bedbugs. Took a half hour to check out. I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel.
Friendly staff, comfy beds, great shower pressure. But overall it was a dump. Broken elevators, Broken AC. Ripped up walls, no pool, spa, or restaurants, no ice machines, no roomservice, you have to pay extra to park during your stay, you had to get your own towels, soaps, toilet paper no naid service to tidy rooms. All vending machines were empty. Will not book there again.
I was not pleased at all! The restaurant set up and availability of food was very poorly arranged. The man that was managing the area was not a pleasant being. The beds were so small and only had decorative pillows to sleep with. My sheets had pink stains on them. There was not one housekeeper available for a change of Linen. The shower was dripping all night. There was a huge fight outside of our room at 330am. When leaving there was a flood, water was pouring all on the first floor from someone that got kicked out because of stuffing the toilet. The only pleasant part was the lady that checked us in she was very sweet. A lady with blonde curly ponytail. I didnt catch her name. But I appreciate your kindness. Everyone else that was on staff seemed to be very unhappy. I wish I didnt have to leave such a bad review but I felt it was necessary. I forsure will not be coming back.
I was really impressed by Adams Mark. I just concluded a conference meeting here and every detail arranged by the hotel turned out great. For instance, upon checking in, I got a small gift bag with a welcome letter, water and chocolate, items that helped me ease into the night. The room was also very clean and all amenities worked as expected. The staff changed the linen everyday.Talk of staff, the hotel bar tender and waitresses were awesome too.I highly recommend the hotel.
I hate giving so few stars, but two stars perfectly describes my stay. This hotel seems to be in a transition state, and the main elevators were all out of service the one night I stayed. They had us use the workers elevators, and all the employees seemed night. My room was dusty, but otherwise seemed clean. They have a gym and sauna which are opened 24/7, which is great. Breakfast is not included in the price and parking is 15 dollars a night, but otherwise, the price is great
This was by far the worst hotel Ive ever seen. I couldnt stay, I was in my room for 15 min before going to another hotel. Exposed wiring, holes in the walls, footprints on the bed, fingerprints on the tv, the tv didnt work at all, the bed didnt even have a headboard. The buttons were pulled off the thermostat so it was 80° in the room. I waited at the front desk to talk to someone for 10 min, ringing the bell, knowone was in the hotel. The guy at the front destk laughed at me when I asked if their was a vending machine anywhere since the bar was closed. He said you should just drink water. The elevator was out so I was wandering around had no idea where I was going. Terrible service. Im shocked.
No internet for 5 days in a row. I asked for a cup of hot water, they told me they don’t have any, but I can buy bottled water and microwave it. I got water and found that there is no microwave in my room. My coworker had microwave, but it wasn’t working. Everything looks old and dirty. Very unpleasant experience.
I stayed at this hotel on 3-25-19. The only good thing I can really say is the location is near everything. It is also not the worst room I have ever stayed in for $100. All of the pics on the website are very old. The room needs a lot of work. Mold on the ceiling above the shower. Screws hanging out of the wood work in the bathroom. Our curtain in the bedroom was hanging off the hooks and that is an easy fix. It could be very nice with a coat of paint and some TLC. No bugs and we were not disturbed by any other guests.
Light switch in room doesnt work. There are 4 lamps and one of them has a missing button. The bed has a single fitted sheet (no mattress protector as is standard in preventing bedbug infestation). The AC unit is loudly buzzing. On the plus side, man at reception was very helpful and polite. The cafe downstairs is open very late. Price was lower than anywhere else in the area. Location couldnt be more convenient.

2022-06-23Dont forget to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a hotel. They compare hundreds of booking web sites and usually will have rates much cheaper than others! Thank me later! This place is one of the highest rated in this area. Ive been coming here for a very long time. If you choose this place you for sure wont be let down.I cannot speak for the number of negative reviews on this hotel. What I can say, is that I stayed for a weekend, and had a fantastic stay. The best feature of this hotel, by far is the staff. Everyone I encountered from checking in, to bartender, to housekeeping had a smile and were extremely kind. The room I had was clean, smelled fresh (not deodorized) but legit fresh. The pool was closed, a disappointment, but they are renovating. All elevators worked and were clean. This hotel is in a great spot, close to nearly everything. I enjoyed the stay so much, I have made future reservations, is it perfect, no, but is anyplace? I cant wait to return.

2021-10-25So this hotel is currently being renovated and needs a lot of work. HOWEVER the people working there were absolutely amazing. Its a great location and right off the highway. They have a parking garage connected and a circle off the street to park while you check in. Most importantly, I was traveling alone and a bit worried about staying in the city by myself -- but I felt 100% safe here and comfortable with the staff. The place has great bones and I would book again in a heartbeat when back in Buffalo despite having witnessed the dated appearance. Looking forward to seeing the completed renovation in the future!

2022-01-11Stayed there the night of 12/29. There was a fire in the ballroom. Have been trying to call for a refund the number seems to be disconnected. Would not recommend under any circumstances. No one has reached out to make things right with a refund. Anything would be better in downtown Buffalo

2021-12-02This place is undergoing renovations and will probably be even nicer soon but I still enjoyed my brief stay here.Unfortunately I left a cabin light on in my car and the battery died while I was parked in the garage here but the wonderful engineering staff led by Alexi, Van, and Jesus were happy to help me get it jumped. They went way out of their way to be helpful and were a friendly bunch of guys as well.

2021-11-08The staff are good people and the service in the restaurant was nice. The Host seemed like a good guy. However, the facility was outdated and in some spots falling apart. My room looked like it was cleaned but the sheets had old stains. There were stains on the ceiling and there was also dirt in some spots of the carpet around furniture. The heater was blowing a dry hot air that left me with an irritated nasal passage. And the odor.... There was a stale odor almost everywhere you walked. Also, I leaned on the tolets water tank to take my socks off and water gushed out onto the floor. I think if they spent some money painting and preparing rooms. Kept them clean and made some repairs the place would be better then a motel 8If it wasnt for the decent people and good food my stay would have been a total loss. But they are doing good with what they have to work with.

2021-11-30Currently under renovation and additional add on include a 4,200 seating show room and Gym fitness center currently no access. If the rooms were cheaper it would make for a more pleasant stay do to the inconvenience of current upgrades and remodeling.First a big red stain on floor, toe nail clipping on floor. Clock radio did not work (we are radio listeners, personnel preference), and no music station on TV. Currently no ice machine on the 7th floor or plastic drinking cups. However, you can ask for ice in a bag at the front desk. Additional $50 charge for damage deposit. Understand the charged however, never mentioned during reservation or prior to checking in. We are happy we had a microwave and mini fridge. We had to pay for parking, but they did have a parking garage very nice.Sean was great the supervisor dude.***Something positive - Walking distance to Keybank center, pearl street brewery, and Washington Square Bar. Walking distance to outside ice skating rink, and NPR broadcast building. Walking distance to St. Joseph church and half a mile from a gas station.***Greatest part of this hotel is that it is a 10 minute drive to Our Lady Victory national shrine and basilica - this is one of the seven wonders of Buffalo, NY!!! Our Lady Victory is a must see and must visit.***We are looking forward to the upcoming renovation and upgrades. We will be visiting again when it is complete.

2021-10-29This hotel is under renovation. I can get past the smell of paint in the halls and construction. I could ignore the loose room door that I barricaded with a chair at night, the swollen door frame that made the bathroom door difficult to close, and the heater unit that was in pieces. I could NOT ignore the filthy state the room was left in. The pillows and sheets were wrinkled like someone just slept on them. Hair and fuzz made them seem like they were never washed. The carpet was sticky. We took off our shoes at the chair sitting by the door, walked to the bed 5 feet away and our feet were covered in goo and black fuzz. We decided to keep our shoes on while in the room and slept on towels over the bed sheets for the night. The air conditioner was so loud that we turned it completely off and dealt with the temperature. We promptly checked out the next morning instead of staying another night.

2021-11-28Room was very dirty. Shower had red substance dried all over the place looked like blood maybe. Employees who appear to be drunk in parking garage stopping you for some of the beer in your cooler. Electrical thermostat wires on the floor of the room. Wall paper peeling off the walls. Dresser looked like somebody took a hammer to it. Lastly no towels in the room. Would not recommend or stay here again.

2021-10-10There is nothing grand about this hotel. The fountain is dirty. The pool is closed. There’s no refrigerator, no microwave and not even a phone in our room. Our king size bed had 3 small pillows. Staff was good and brought us more pillows and ice. My husband forgot his toothbrush but of course the front lobby didn’t have any. I could’ve get a better room somewhere else. Lesson learned!!
