What a great location! One in a series of nice parks along Furhman Boulevard in Buffalos Outer Harbor area. Nice walking/bike path, awesome playground for the kids, large covered area for gatherings, plenty of benches/seating to take in the scenery or watch a sunset. Very close to Tifft Nature Preserve.I was there to volunteer for the 2nd Annual Lung Association Lung Force Walk, so I didnt get to experience the whole park but, nevertheless it is a wonderful amenity so close to the city!
Wonderful place to promenade. Generous, wide paved walkways attract an incredibly diverse group of Buffalonians and visitors. Located on the inner, and small boat harbor, theres so much activity throughout the boating season, spectacular sunsets, city views, and plenty of places to sit and contemplate the water, or watch the kids in the large playground. Winter and early spring are great for migratory ducks, and birds. If youre lucky, a lake freighter will be docked just south in the channel.Part of the lakefront system of public space, and its free, open access to enjoy. There are 4 boat launches, perpetually in use during the season. There may be a small fee to launch, check first. We consider this park a Buffalo gem.
Great place to take the family. If you want to walk, jog, rollerblade or bike, there is no where better in all of Buffalo. Has public restrooms, vending machines and a new ice cream shop. A large playground for the kids. However the playground has climbing walls which adults exercise on. Lots of picnic areas and areas for fishing. Has both motor and small (canoe and jet ski) boat launches.
It was nice, but could still use improvement. Ice cream at Charlies Boat Yard was wonderful. They have a playground but everything is metal we were there on a hot day you could barely touch anything, I really dont see how that playground makes any sense, but it did have a nice cushioned playground.
Great park for kids. Playground starting to fall apart. No repairs last 2 years. The playground and park were pretty crowded. My son & I were the only ones with masks on. No social distancing either. No place to sanitize or wash hands. Be safe. This Covid-19 is sneaky and NOT joke. EVERYONE can catch it and can get sick!!! 😷☀👍💙
It is a wonderful place to walk if one desires to be near the water. Theres tons of available, free parking all along the road on both sides of the road, the scenery is quiet nice, and theres plenty of room to maintain social distancing. It is probably one of the nicer places along the water in the city, and well-worth the trip.
We had work picnic and kickball game there and it was very nice, although extremely windy. I love the park, as my family and I frequently visit, whether its a casual walk or a bike ride, there is always something to do. The scenery is beautiful, and the sunsets are even better, if you get a chance to catch those. There is a playground for the kids, plus restrooms near by, so that makes it very convenient when the kids have to use the facilities. You can even drop a line in the water off if the dock, so its definitely worth you time to visit.
Beware when booking this venue that they can cancel your reservation if a better event comes up and you have no recourse. We booked for our daughters rehearsal dinner in February 2021 for June 18th. Sent out invites. 1 month before event was emailed that our reservation was cancelled as they are now hosting the thunder on the waterfront. We have had to find a new venue and resent out new invites, adding additional costs. Very unprofessional!
Made reservations for a shelter months in advanced, they were approved, and had an event planned for guests coming from out of town the day before my wedding and then a few weeks before the event, they cancelled on me. Now I am completely out of luck. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. Do not have open availability and accept reservations only to cancel them on people when you have something more important that you would like to use the park for. That is not how you run a business.
This is a peaceful place to walk along the water to clear your thoughts. I like going alone. I went with my boyfriend last time & that gave a good memory. Its a very pretty place at night also. I dont think theres odd houses so maybe go to the bathroom before you go for a nice long walk along the water 😉
This is an amazingly huge playground with spongy padding under all the equipment. My child has sensory issues and this particular playground is Paradise for him. With an amazing view of Lake Erie and beautiful picnic pavilions with a grill and a wonderful restroom building this is an amazing place to have a party or simply spend an afternoon with your family.
My kids love this place. The playground is modern and has a soft ground (some kind of foam?) that would be good for kids with special needs, younger walkers, or just avoiding a nasty fall. Shade is limited so be sure to bring a hat and sunglasses and water on hot days. It is right by the water and an ideal place for a picnic or family party. The parking lot is currently under construction so be sure to use the second entrance.
Wonderful experience despite the rain. From the booking of the shelter right down to the actual day of the event. Very pleasant to work with. Willing to help and gave suggestions of things to do at the park while using the shelter. Shelter was clean and the staff came by and emptied the trash mid day. Staff was quick, efficient and courteous. Playground was well kept and kept the kids busy when not raining. Only suggestion I have would be to have the grill area somehow covered for rainy day events.
What a gem to find! Bike and walking trails that seem to go on forever. Perfect spot to watch the sunrise and/or sunset with plenty of seating! At one end it looked like a boat launch also. (Just didnt walk that far down.I brought my small dog to walk (equipped with poop bags) and the only thing that could be better is other dog owners could use poop bags to clean up Fidos feces.Definitely give this place an AAA rating!
Good place to spend summer days with the kids, the park is always clean when i go. Loads of activities for the kids going on walking trails also available. Near the playground there are sitting areas for the parents. They are help stations throughout the boardwalk as well. My kids love it!
I love it down there! Just beautiful. Lots of green space and open areas. Buffalo is doing great things at the waterfront. Its about time! Its so nice being able to walk around and enjoy the views of the lake and the boats. So serene. And all the people are so friendly! I try to get down there every weekend. Summer in Buffalo is beautiful!
Yes people, this is the place to go we have celebrated 70 year birthday, with live band, baby shower, and birthdays, I have several grandchildren we had no problems, and we were close to the water, and restrooms, all children should be carefully watch, Go enjoy and feel the bright sunlight on you, and lastly if you dont swim, just move to the middle of the park furthest from the water, we have met wonderful people out here littles ones do get away, we just lead them back, towards the cushy playground, my family is huge so we usually get the area by the rocks and water.I an several members in the family are swimmers, as always try and have someone who can swim. However I dont think any one seeing a child walking/running would let harm come to any child near the water. Enjoy we always do and if you want to have parties book Now, promise if you wait to long or for summer it will be to late to book, honestly NOW is the time I wouldnt be surprised if their booked already. As always have fun be safe.
This playground is great! Its broken down into age groups so there is something for ages 2 and up. The ground is made a soft spongy material so if your kids fall they wont get hurt. Its not to far from the water so theres a nice cool breeze. There are places to sit and large shelters where you could have a party.
There is no overnight parking allowed to the public - only to the slipholders. Free public parking is from dawn to dusk. This applies to Charlies Boat Yard, probably applies to the rest of the park too. Park staff didnt know about the parking time limits for their own park, and there was some miscommunication. Besides that, its a nice, peaceful area with a lot of visitors.
The playground was filthy. There was a shelter that was playing explicit music so loud that I could hear it in my car with the windows closed on the other side of the parking lot. Every word could clearly be heard on the playground. Also, my daughter tried to apply hand sanitizer from the station and it sprayed into her eyes. No water was available for us to try and rinse it out and there was no staff to be found. This used to be our favorite summer evening hangout but the playground has deteriorated. I doubt we will be back.
Launched my sail boat Little Momma here. Upon returning we seen flare hover in the sky past the breakwall. We called 911 and reported it. The response was fast and incredible. I know that doesnt say much about the park itself, but just know if you ever find yourself in trouble on the water out there you are in good hands.
Went here for the 4th of July celebration, and the park is as fun and clean as always. Its in a safe area, and there is an awesome playground here for your little climbers. There is plenty of parking, and there are pavillion areas available to reserve. Yes there are public bathrooms.
The perfect place to experience summer breezes. Plenty of natural acreage to feel like its just you, the sun, the sky, and that gorgeous clear blue water. Plenty to see and do for the whole family. Fantastic soft padded playground for the little ones. Bring your bikes and have an educational ride as you stop at places along the path showing the waterfronts industrial history of Buffalo. Make a day of it. Cookout, picnic, play, explore, and stay for the nightly lazer light up of the huge grain elevators. Bring your kayaks too. There is a new launch at the north end of Gallagher Beach. Great destination for a nice dinner while the sun sets at the newly expanded restaurant at the Small Boat Harbor.
Took my 17 month old for some playtime...she loved it and so did my wife and I. We will definitely be bringing her here again and again. Are only not positive critique is the the age group area for our daughter consisted of 2 baby swings and 2 bars about a foot off the ground...weird...how about the climbing things like at the mall kids play area.Other than that...bravo City of Buffalo!!!
Awesome playground to bring the kids or go with you guy/girl yo see the sunset!!! Pretty cool playground with some cool stuff and is all padded ground for the little ones safety! Has a very large parking lot and I wind surfed in the parking lot when there was high winds and not many cars taking up the lot! Lol check out this location and many more from the queen city on BUFFALO EAKATE ON YOUTUBE! CHECK IT OUT AND SUBSCRIBE FOR BETTER VIDEOS SHOT IN 4K STARTING THIS YEAR!!!!!
Nice place, but pretty busy. I think its because its close to downtown and to southtowns like Hamburg and lackawanna. Plus there was this creepy middle aged guy on a bike that kept pointing the front towards kids on playground. My husband and his brother went to get a better look and saw he had a camera mounted on the front. He did not appear to be with anyone there and when they went to confront the guy, he took off on his bike. Remember to always be with your kids especially when its so busy. They can easily get lost in the crowds.
Wonderful stop to see the sights of the Buffalo Harbor. Boat Launch has high sidewalls, no floating dock platforms at launch dock, so 2 people are a good idea to launch a boat without making new boat ding friends. Entry width is baits for longer trailer boats, scuffed Tue sidewalls are common. Thats not a good thing for 4000 pound boats. Great fish cleaning station, with electric power. Restaurant, playground, kayak launch facility, ample parking. We like this place. Great for tournament anglers that know how to launch and retrieve.
The park is nice, bit we rented a pavilion and we had people walking thru endless amounts of times, two different parties sitting and using our grills, a group kept using our water to fill buckets and wash. They had the nerve to plug into our outlet to run an extension cord to play music, the grandmother said it was fine because she was uncomfortable to say no. Then they come back to plug a coffee grinder in. They werent watching their kids at all which kept coming in, grabbing chips etc. One walk right up and down on our corn hole board. Then other parties were coming to sit at the far end of our place and we had to tell them 5 times WE RENTED THIS. They respond by saying yes a get it, but still say there... NOT WORTH TJE HEADACHES!!!!!
Used to be a great launch for small sailboats and jet skis, but for all of their focus on “improvements,” they’ve eliminated trailer parking, and now closed the ramp altogether, forcing sailboats and jet skis to use the already crowded ramps at the poorly designed small boat harbor. Completely asinine. The patrons that attend this park are often questionable, and I’ve seen police and ambulances called on multiple occasions. At one point someone was cut up in a knife fight.
They do really need to do something about the bacteria in the water it is a great place to go and visit and take the boats out and jet skis but if they could just do something to try the lower the bacteria level the water the place would be even greater everyone knows from the Buffalo area Western New York how dirty the water can get and its sad
Im here on a regularly (maybe ones ever 2 weeks) love how the park is turning out but the only reason I didnt give 5 stars is it seems a little dirty at times I had to pick up I few beer cans I dont want this review to sound like its dirty all the time its not the case at all the location it easy to find even at its busiest I can always find parking and even if you dont come down specifically for the park its right on the water nice and peaceful
This place has changed alot in the last several years. At first I was not a big fan due to the small changes at first did not make much sense. As the changes continued over the years the master plan has become more in focus. I now love coming down here and spending time by the water.
This is not a wilderness kind of park, but it is scenic. Panaramic views of lake Erie and the Buffalo skyline. Has a large marina and boat ramp so you can watch all the boats. The best part is the extensive paved walking/biking trail which connects with more paths in the city system

2020-10-03This park is clean, wide open, and super safe. Its got a bathroom that was fairly clean and drinking fountain for non covid times. Its also right on the water which made for a beautiful backdrop. We havent been in the area too long but weve been here about four times already and will be back again.

2022-05-14Its nice to have public access to the harbor. I dont think its worth paying for though. I can understand if you have a boat and launch from the harbor or dock there, but theres no reason to pay when you can enjoy the waterfront literally surrounding the park for free.

2020-06-09This park has been one of my longtime favorite. Its an ideal place to visit, be it for a stroll, family picnics/BBQ or simply just enjoying the view.Biking and walkingThe park has a really long trail with dedicated bike lane that stretches from one end to the other, making it perfect for biking, jogging and walking your dog. Theres also free waste pick-up bags throughout the walkway.Doing BBQThe designated barbecue place is located on the left side of the parking lot when entering. There are two sheds with barbecue grills, a water tap and tables. Theres a kids playground right next to it so you can do the grilling while your kids play.BoatingOne of the many things this place is known for is, is boating. So if youve got a boat, then this is the place.I think I covered pretty much everything.Hope you have a great time!

2020-09-07Nice place, and well maintained. Just drive carefully and slowly because there are kids around. Also, watch for trucks load with boat some people dont know how to drive.
