This is a fantastic pet store. Every single employee I have had interactions with knows their stuff, and are really passionate about it. The prices are also fantastic. We recently got a new pet lizard. I dont think I could have gotten a better deal anywhere else. Im lucky to have this shop nearby!
I was anxious to check out the new local business and when I walked in I got that instant wow factor. The customer service was impeccable , the facility looks incredible and the staff knowledge is second to none. I’m really happy to do business with a company that takes pride in every aspect of the business. Thank you Dave and the staff for taking the time to help us today and I’ll see you again soon.
First time coming back to this place after they shut downThe place still smell the same the name of the store is the only thing that changedI MUST SAY I WOULD NEVER COME BACK TO THIS STORE PRICES ARE WAY TOO HIGH A RAT COST MORE THAN A GALLON OF GAS HELL NOBACK TO THE PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT ALL YOUR SUPPLIES WHEN YOU SHUT DOWN
I heard about this place but had never been there before, so I did a quick visit. They have supplies to satisfy the needs of most fishkeepers. Several tanks were empty, but it seems that when fully stocked they have a pretty darn selection of fish. The interior is a bit dated, but that is about the only negative.
Super friendly helpful and knowledgeable staff, I was just browsing with my kids and they still helped me with all of my dumb questions. And they were super super nice to my kids (they answered all of the whys from my 3 & 4 year olds) I cant wait to go back there. I would tell everyone I know to go there.Incase youre wondering they sell snakes, bearded dragons, tarantulas, other lizards, turtles, as well as bunnies, ferrets, guinea pigs (I think maybe they were hamsters I am not sure) and then they have all types of mice and rats (from pinks to large) and quail, they also have all types of fish, stuff for out door ponds I know they have crickets and worms and everything you need to feed and/or set up or take care of just about any type of pet. Im sure they have other stuff too but thats just what I saw and/or know about.Seriously super nice staff really helpful.
Let me start by saying Ive been a loyal customer for many years. I have 3 chain pet stores within 5 minutes of my house but I choose to drive the 20 minutes to support a local business. Unfortunately thats probably the last time I do.We arrived at 11:55 to find the store wasnt open. Their website says they opened at 10am. No big deal. As soon as we saw they were open we walked in with another couple. I was with my two little kids and we knew which fish we wanted within a few minutes of arriving.Fast forward to 45 minutes later we still hadnt been waited on. The couple that arrived after us was setting up a new tank and needed a lot of help. No problem with that, I love to see new people join the aquarium community. However, the employee should have noticed that we were waiting for an extremely long time and offered to help us real quick while the couple was selected what they wanted. Or called another employee over.I had finally had enough and decided to walk out. Just as I was walking out one of the employees came over to help. I was very tempted to keep walking but the kids were really excited for their new fish so I didnt want to disappoint them.Neither employee apologized for the long wait even though it was pretty clear how upset I was. Its a shame the one of the last local fish stores has such poor customer awareness. Going to be a long time before I go back. I tried using the Contact Us form on their website but of course that didnt work. Hopefully they read their online reviews and take this to heart.
My experience was great at Buffalo Pet Supply. Dave was super knowledgeable with my fish, food and supplies while being patient with me being new to having an aquarium. Highly recommended. I’ll be getting all my pet supplies there, love supporting local Buffalo business!
Exceptional service and great selection. Ive been here a few times with my younger son, and the staff is extremely knowledgeable, patient and enthusiastic. Today, it was Quinn who spent time to answer all of our questions, and help us make the right choices for our tank - but all of the staff have been very helpful.
It’s always a plus when you can support locally, but I have been coming here for a few months for our dog food. Dave is very friendly and always brings the big bag of dog food out to the car for us. Which is a super plus when you have two young kids and a pup in tow!! Thanks for the excellent service always!!
The staff was friendly and very helpful. They have live feeders mice and fish. They carry reptiles, snakes, turtles, and arachnids. They also have some small animals like bunnies and such. Lots of different types of fish as well. Very nice store, will definitely go back again.
Been a longtime customer for at least 30 years, we buy most of our pet supplies at Niagara Aquarium. Employees are helpful and knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable for the good quality of everything they sell.Never had or heard of any issues or complaints. 5 Stars *****I will Always recommend Niagara Aquarium first ♡
Wonderful store and people. I have a saltwater aquarium, and everything is from this store. Also a pond, and theyve had all the supplies I need and GREAT advice. Knowledgeable staff at all times which is very important with such delicate ecosystem like recreating the ocean in your home! Highly recommend.
Nice people. One of the only places in buffalo that carries variable sizes of Dubia roaches for geckos and other reptiles! Only complaint I have is that they are 2 for one dollar no matter what size you need. So 2 small baby roaches would be the exact same price as 2 large roaches.... the smaller ones should be 4 for a dollar
Great locally owned pet shop. Well informed staff, and a great selection of fish, and tank needs/accessories. Quinn is friendly, as well as knowledgeable, and helped tremendously in helping me and my family pick out some great starter fish. This will be the only place I go for aquatic pet needs.
One of the best Buffalo area Aquarium/pet stores. Nice service. Decent selection. They really shine in the summer with their pond supplies and outdoor fish. Clean, great hours. For me I found extremely nice acrylic cave hideouts for my Dwarf Cichlids. Great prices. No gouging at Niagra.
Hey i love that place i got my pet there and told when to feed it and how you hold it and i was not sure if it was a female of a male and the lady there is always nice to me when i go there and one time she gave me free crickets because it was out of 100 and she did not want me to carry it around and i want to hold it and she helped me open it and then i felt how fluffy and soft it was very cute and we go every year and feed the fish and onetime i went to the down to were the fish stay and i got to feed them and they are so kind to me when i go and i have been there for like 11 years i went there when i was a baby and i just love that place thank you so much
This place desperately needs a fan to get the air circulating. It stinks, although the only animal I saw was one ferret (and fish of course). I go here at least 4x a month. If there was a closer place to buy what I need, I would! Plus, they were out of feeder goldfish...again.
The staff isnt very knowledgeable or helpful when it comes to questions. Not a very large selection either. This place has gone down hill over the last 10 years. And its a shame. Had some great memories there as a child. The kid at the counter kept saying I dont know, and to call next week ask for Dave
They have a decent enough selection of perstuff but livestock is a different story. The small animals are all in far to small enclosure and the smell is horrid. There was a mountain of fecies in the fettits potty that clearly hasnt been cleaned in some time. Fish selection was ok I guess. not ataall what i would expect from a place called Niagara aquarium
Stephanie is so sweet knowledgeable. Dave not so much, he was very short with me and he didnt want to help me when I needed it. Ex left a water sample for him to test for me and he never called me and I had the worst valentines weekend I lost all of my fin babies. Stephanie was so sympathetic and Dave never said anything to me. Ive moved on to a different pet store.
This is the worst place to buy fish they racist and their fish are so expensive they selling fancy guppies they all look sick for $10 I live next to the aquarium and I wont never go back again to that place is ridiculous all the price buy your fish on ebay or aquabid stay away from this place

2022-03-23I am 70-years-old and have had aquariums on and off since I was a child. I set up a new 48-gallon tank about 4 months ago and then purchased tropical fish from a few local fish suppliers, including Buffalo Pet Supply (they were my first stop). I had actually visited this business a couple of times beforehand to see what fish they had that I might like. My impression was that they were relatively new owners trying to get their business established, so I was inclined to buy fish there first, rather than going to The Fish Store in N. Tonawanda (typically my go-to source for fish).Anyway, I stopped in Buffalo Pet Supply again on March 22nd, 2022 and spent over $67 there on various tropical fish. Included in this purchase were a pair of Red Rainbow Gouramis. My receipt states that the purchase was made at 3:05pm. At 6:39pm I noticed that one of those Gouramis was sitting on the gravel laying at a 45° angle. I watched that fish over the evening and by 11:05pm it was dead. Just to add, I am well-familiar with the process of acclimating new fish into an aquarium and it was done properly.Considering that this fish only lasted a few hours, I went back to Buffalo Pet Supply the next day with the deceased fish in a baggy (I have never returned a dead fish in my life – until now). I explained what had happened and even said that I had taken photos at various times before it died. Well, the owner refused to refund or replace the fish without me bringing in a water sample for testing. I assured him that my water is fine and that I test it every week or so. He didn’t budge, so I left, telling him that I would never be back. BTW, that same day I was going to purchase a couple of other fish after the replacement of the dead fish. It’s not the rather insignificant $7.99 that’s the issue, but rather it’s a businessman who can’t be bothered looking at the big picture. In the past few months, I have spent over $225 at Buffalo Pet Supply. On top of that, I had purchased some new Disney aquarium decorations (not from Buffalo Pet Supply) for my granddaughter, but had some extras that I wasn’t going to use. I stopped in one day and gave them to the store (paid about $30 for them, but I couldn’t be bothered trying to sell these myself and figured they could get a few bucks for them). As you might assume, in retrospect I now regret both my generosity and the money Ive spent there.Do what you wish with this review, but it’s very unlikely that you would encounter this type of short-sighted treatment at The Fish Store in N. Tonawanda, or even Pets Plus-Reptiles & Exotics in Lockport. They have much larger selections and smarter management.Update: It’s March 23rd and now the other Red Rainbow Gourami clearly has a visible fungus (no other fish in my tank are sick). Clearly, these fish, which I paid over $16 for, were diseased when sold to me. Based on my poor experiences with Buffalo Pet Supply, I would recommend buying your tropical fish elsewhere!

2022-04-21We have had great experiences at Buffalo Pet Supply. They are knowledgeable and helpful and even let us try a sample of a bug for free that we werent sure if our gecko would like. They are kind to our young son and very helpful. The meal worms and wax worms weve purchased there last longer than ones from PetSmart and our gecko is very happy.

2022-05-19Literally best pet store around. I bought my first axolotl from them and they were extremely helpful, kind, friendly and more than accommodating. I have called to ask questions on questions numerous times and every time they are amazing.

2022-04-21The staff here are super friendly and helpful. Way more knowledgeable about everything they stock then someone at PetSmart or Petco too. Theyve given us free bugs to try with our gecko and are very nice to my young son. This will be my number one place to shop from here on out. Choose them or over a big box store.

2022-04-21Misleading ad. They put that they are going to give away a free betta to the children until 7pm. 2:30 pm I went with my children after school, the vendor says there are no more there were only 50 bettas and they are already sold out, the ones left are for sale. in the publication he does not say that there were only 50 to give away, the publication says that it was until 7pm. Well, they could see someone who is a gold fish given to the children. In my country there is a government office called DACO (Department of Consumer Assistance) and in these cases they intervene and fine the store and can even cancel its work permits.
