Really beautiful museum showcasing local artists old and new including multimedia exhibits. Very open layout and clean. Cafe is a little pricey but the light fare is quite fresh and tasty. Only complaint is that the metered parking is more than a little confusing and only allows for up to 2 hours of use. A real gem to take visiting friends while Albright Knox is being renovated.
Ive been here twice, and both times have been very impressed by the exhibits. They have some interesting events here, a good gift shop, and if you like museum cafes it seemed pretty good. The current exhibits, Jonathan Rogers and Enough Killing! really stuck out, are definitely worth seeing. The staff are incredibly helpful, and the building is something to see no matter what theyre showing.
Very nice but small museum with beautiful architecture and pleasant viewing. We were staying at the nearby Hotel Henry and this was a very nice side jaunt as we were short of time, but if I were coming for the museum I would definitely tailor my visit to the exhibitions rather than the collection. Well maintained with a nice gift shop.
I have been a member of the Burchfield Penney for years. It is a great supporter of local artists as demonstrated by the shows and the items sold in the gift shop. The Burchfield offers many community programs and the second Friday evenings are attended by all ages. The shows are changed often and are excellent. It is a great asset for our city
This is my favorite art museum in upstate NY. The building itself is exquisitely designed. Their rotating exhibitions of Charles Burchfields art allows for an appreciation of the scope of his work (which is as if Van Gogh worked in watercolor). The other exhibits focus on western NY artists, which provides exposure and fosters respect for local talent. It can easily be enjoyed in 1.5 to 2 hours. A cultural gem!
The Docent was extremely knowledgeable and the free tour was packed full of information and there was really good interaction with the group, Not just someone spitting out a bunch of facts. The Docents passion for All of the work was obvious. I look forward to our next visit.
Appreciably Buffalos underrated Art Gallery...because the more famous gallery across the street will always be the darling..but I feel Burchfeild Penney is more accessible in a community aspect..giving local Art a venue that has an almost organic feel...as its roots are from the community
A world class art gallery across from another national treasure (the Albright Knox) this Gallery and Art Center produces major art shows, film and music performances with a permanent collection of the fantastic natural-world works of Charles Burchfield. Schedule a day to visit both galleries and be filled with inspiration and creative excitement.
Although much smaller than the Albright-Knox, the Burchfield Penney focuses primarily on local artists across WNY. Their collections are very modern and contemporary, but are accessible to all visitors. The architecture and design of the museum is as equally impressive, and is a great addition to the surrounding Buff State campus. The level of security does not infringe on the ability to enjoy the exhibits, and the admission is fairly priced. Visiting the BPAC is always a great way to spend an afternoon.
Great art curation, I wish it was run a little better. No cafe (in between vendors), the huge first floor exhibit was closed for reno but you could see from the 2nd floor that everything was hung, one of the tv displays wasnt working with an error message displayed. I do recommend going, just be prepared and flexible.

2021-08-13We had seen the paintings of celebrated artists. The appearance floated like angels across the room, the seasons floating forcefully.Like a choir on Easter morning.Foundations of spiritual phenomena. We were under full sway, of such thoughts. The conditions of the beyond, were suddenly favorable.A cloud carrying angelic versions,of marvelous beauty; oil on canvas paintings.A sweet sound of many voices.Impressions that transcend us.

2022-04-17Lovely museum with a focus on local art and artists. Love the modern building and amenities. The size of the galleries also allow for ample social distancing. We spent about 1.5 hours here.

2019-12-13Glorious gallery punching well above its weight and certainly the best game in town with the Albright Knox presently closed for some major renos. Well put together galleries featuring Buffalo and upstate NY artists. Some important regional and national pieces here. 2nd Friday each month is free. Small but well thought out gift shop. Easily merits an hour or two of your visit to Buffalo. Pay Parking is on-site: you may be able or snag free parking a few mins walk away on site streets. Kudos as well for the environmentally sustainable design!

2018-03-20This museum holds the archives and art of many local artists as well as the archives and the art of local artist Charles E Burchfield . I was truly fascinated with each and every visit. I’ve also had the opportunity to attend Artist Talks hosted by Resource Art and felt surrounded by creativity and beauty. The shop on the first floor is full of affordable work by local artists including jewelery, textiles, pottery, greeting cards and so much more!

2021-02-02Enjoy local art including works from the eponymous Charles Burchfield. They have a beautiful gift shop and a small cafe that serves food. Every second Friday off the month they host an opening where the galleries are open to the public at no charge.

2021-06-13These are a few of my favorites from the 2021 Burchfield Art Auction. It is such an incredible opportunity to learn about all the exceptional artists living and working in Western New York.

2017-05-27I absolutely loved visiting the BPAC when I attended Buffalo State because of all the creative pieces of art that were on display. There is always a rich collection of contemporary and modern art being showcased which I am a huge fan of. A trip here any time of the day was extremely relaxing and so inspirational. Not enough students took advantage of the free admissions which is unfortunate. They frequently host events and invite key speakers, where you have the opportunity to learn a great deal and network with attendees. The BPAC was recently renovated and they installed projectors in front of the center that displays films on the center itself. Its a pleasure to watch it when the sun is down because you can see it clearly.
