This state park is a fantastic camp ground. The spots are much larger than private campgrounds, and have nice fire pits and picnic tables. There is a good number of trees, providing great shade on a lot of the sites. The central wash house is brand new and really nice, there are six private bathrooms each with shower, sink and toilet. There is also a great new playground with swings, teeter totter, forest fort and pirate ship; certainly a little kid hangout. The views of the river are spectacular, especially from the tent sites on the edge of the bluff where you get totally immersed in the feeling of it.Great staff takes impeccable care of the grounds, are friendly and proud of their little slice of heaven on the river. Many of the docks were washed out from the high water of 2017/2019; the concrete pier is still intact but still a little treacherous until the water subsides (if it ever does)Connectivity: Cellphone service here is limited to Verizon and a Canadian service from across the river. You have to drive west almost to Clayton to get Sprint, there appears to be no Sprint or US GSM carrier towers anywhere near here. The park doesnt have wifi either, so this is a good spot for technology detox.
Great State Park campground! Its a little small and the sites dont have much privacy and intermittent shade (trees and shrubs are sparse) but great river views and awesome amenities! The fire rings on many sites tend to be a little close to the road rather than in the center of the site, making it easier to park a camper, I suppose but decreasing the overall coziness of the camp common space. Its extremely family friendly and accessible in general with a brand new awesome playground (including some accessible equipment), great paved biking/walking loops around camp, and large well-lit and private bathrooms (with individual shower stalls, efficient toilets, hand dryers). The ice is cheap and the camp wood is reasonable. Most sites have convenient water, and all sites have electric (except for the row closest to the lakeshore). There is a boat launch, picnic tables and pavilion, fishing/sunbathing pier, and honestly just the nicest bathrooms Ive ever seen in a state park! Would definitely return in future.
I have great memories of this beautiful site on the St Lawrence river. We pitched our tents right on the shore and enjoyed the incredible views and clean air! The quaint town of Cape Vincent is home to many great restaurants (check out the Coal Docks), bars, shops and historic sites (don’t miss Tibbets Point Lighthouse).
It is a great state park. But there is one small problem. The park is located next some vacation homes, and some of the people that rent the vacation homes or the owners, let there kids run around in the park.We did not mind the kids riding the bikes. But the 2 younger ones were causing mischief with pop caps. Throwing them everywhere and in front of the doors of the occupied bathrooms, trying to scare people.People from the rental properties or private camps were walking there dogs in the park. And letting them do there business at least once that I saw and did not pick it up. Park goers cleaned up behind there animals. The fence between the rental camps and the state park should be fixed.

2022-06-05Very, very tiny park. And its pretty much located in the middle of nothing but farm land boonies. If you dont have a boat or fish there is really absolutely nothing to do but just kind of sit around and relax. Its a beautiful view tho. Also there are no stores close by FYI, nearest ones are a 20 minute drive or more.

2021-05-30Best campground on the river. Its a very small campground maybe 50 sites. Mostly electric so you dont have to listen to generators all day. Definitely a favorite spot of mine. Caught a good sunset Saturday night

2020-09-22Sunsets are amazing, campground is small, packed with sites one on top of the other, and the wind seemed like it was going to actively blow our tent away.If you fish you will definitely catch a whole lot of gobies. The playground is very nice, showers are warm but with no adjustable temp, and a button you have to push frequently. You will have to wait in line to pee in the morning because each bathroom cubicle has a shower and a toilet and will fill up with everyone showering.

2022-05-31The site we had gave us awesome view of the river and the park was well tended. The decline we had to walk to get to our site was a bit tricky and is not handicap accessible. The lack of trees between sites means you have very little privacy but our neighbors were very conscientious

2021-08-25Smaller campground with great views of the St. Lawrence River from most campsites and most sites have electric. Theres no access to swimming unless you have a river site, but your park pass allows access to any state park and theres a pool or beach within 15 minutes. A very nice park overall!
