Great experience, wonderful wines, Knowledgeable staff, friendly… everything was amazing, wines and food was fantastic. This winery is a must stop, you will definitely enjoy and appreciate it just as we did.Thank you for explaining root stock and varieties used in your wines.Best alwaysThe Ferreira’s
The final winery we hit on the Cayuga Lake wine trail. This was by far the most commercial, and expensive one we visited. That being said the staff was friendly and the wine was of a good quality. They pair their tasting with cheese and crackers. The iced wine is worth the premium price, delicious and unique. The hot honey was also very enjoyable.
Our family (of 10) visited on June 6th. We picked the winery because their website seemed family friendly and we were with two 6 year olds. Our experience was amazing. We loved their wine, especially Blanc de France. Everyone was very attentive. We were a party of 10, so we asked if they can give us a tour of their winery. They usually don’t give tours, but they asked the manager, Diane and she was more than happy to show us around. The tour was great and Diane’s excitement for her job made it even more interesting. We were very appreciative of the tour, the attention, and the scenery at Buttonwood Grove Winery. Thank you for a great day.
Yall get it. This was our second time, and even better than the last. For my guy and me, our favorite thing to do on our rare days off together is going on wine tasting adventures. The moment we walked in (without a reservation, I might add), we were kindly welcomed. They started us off with a welcome wine while we figured out our choices. They followed that up with a basket of delicious chunked cheese, yummy crackers and Mikes hot honey. The honey is a bit hot to maintain a palate, but still very tasty and the wine is amazing so it works! So much diversity and a rollercoaster of flavor to each we tried. They also allow the sparklings to be choices in their tastings - often theyre extra at other wineries, which stinks bc sparkling is our favorite and we dont buy before we try. Its hard to pick a favorite. In addition to that, the staff is kind and very knowledgeable. So yes, please go here! It was a wonderfully enjoyable experience from start to finish, and I didnt even mention the gorgeous view!!
Fantastic experience and absolutely beautiful grounds. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. We were helped by Stephanie who was truly a joy and was full of awesome recommendations. Also, amazing Rieslings and a shockingly good unoaked chardonnay. Highly recommend.
We had a great tasting experience at Buttonwood Grove. The indoor tasting room is spacious, clean, and airy. Victoria helped us and was knowledgeable about the wines. She asked us our preferences and offered suggestions, she was spot on! We were given very good cheese and fresh bread to pair with our selections. A lovely experience. We will visit again in the future.
My wife and I decided to take a bit of a mini moon to the finger lakes after eloping on 10/10/20. We stopped at Buttonwood as it came highly recommended from locals and from other wineries we had visited on our way up to our stay. It did not disappoint. The wine, service, and experience was phenomenal. The owner (I believe), even went so far as to give us a complimentary bottle of bubbly after finding out we were newlyweds. Not only did we come away with a few bottles of wine after our excellent tasting, we came away with a great story that we will be sure to tell anyone we know headed in this direction. This winery is a must stop.
Nice winery, good location, indifferent service however.Visited this winery at the end of the day, went to several smaller wineries on lake Seneca, but this one came recommended by friends, so we made a detour to include this one on our trip.Because we already did some wine tasting, and still had to drive to Geneva we just decided to buy a glass of wine and a few bottles to go.The difference of service between the folks who opted for the wine tasting was remarkable, while they engaged with pleasant conversations with the wine tasting folks. Not a word to us, felt a bit like second rate clients.I get it, this is a good established winery and my little review wont make a difference, you will do fine here, but if you find yourself in this area of NY, seek out the small wineries instead, they make for a more intimate and genuine engagement.
Brianne helped us and brought us great wines! She matched us to our preferred palettes and gave such great service. Amazing ambiance and during COVID we had the choice to sit inside (distanced) or outside on the deck with heaters above. Definitely recommend and will be coming back!
Buttonwood Grove was our favorite winery, on our recent birthday trip to Cayuga Lake. We did a wine tasting on a rainy Monday afternoon and everything from our server to the atmosphere was fantastic! Our server was incredibly kind, knowledgeable about the wine selections and answered every question we had. They took COVID-19 seriously, even allowing us to sit outside under an awning on a rainy fall day. We were served bread and cheese with our tasting, and everyone was respecting face mask requirements.By the end of our tasting, we actually opted to join the wine club because we loved our experience so much! The club requires no money down - and allows you the pleasure of four shipments a year (or more if you want!) No one pushed the club on us - we were just so pleased with our visit and the delicious wine that we decided to join!We returned home from our trip and have already opened a bottle of the 11 Barrell Red - with plans to buy more in the immediate future! Highly recommend.
Of all the wineries we visited Buttonwood was our favorite. It’s not easy with all these Covid restrictions and because of the NY mandated law to serve food with alcohol, bars, wineries etc... Buttonwood was the only one to give us fresh bread, cheese, and a tomato jam with out tastings. It was a really nice touch. And everyone on staff was so nice and the wine itself was truly so delicious! Highly recommended!
Great winery with views of Cayuga lake. They have great collections of different wines and I loved the bubbly reisling wine. Its very fresh, sweet and fruity. They give fresh hot bread with cheddar cheese which goes along with all the wines. Safe during Covid times. Just disappointed by our waitress-she was not that friendly and was in rush to get over with wine tasting. She was also a bit rude, and did not answer all our questions. So my 4 stars for winery..!!
It was our first visit to the Finger Lake region and Buttonwood was the first of the wineries we visited. At the end of our three day visit it was also our favorite! My husband and I appreciated the fact that we could choose the four wines we wished to sample instead of a pre-selected tasting menu. We were served complimentary bread and cheese, enjoyed a beautiful view and a friendly staffButtonwoods Rieslings were on par or better than the others in the region, including the popular Wiemer wines. Put it on your list if youre visiting!
Honestly we had a great experience with our servers I wish I had their names. Although when we went to check out we had a simply question about how their new tasting flights worked since other people were served more food then we received. The older lady was really rude about the situation and this ruined the experience which led us to choose not to purchase anything after. We believe she knew we weren’t served correctly and was really badly covering it up.Overall we didn’t care about the food but the attitude this lady gave us was uncalled for. We just wanted to question it.
Wasnt sure what to expect from tastings during this COVID time but was pleasantly surprised with this experience! Got seated on their outdoor porch; waitress gave us wine menus and then brought out the bottles as we went down the list. Great wines, excellent experience. Hope to see them again in the fall.
One of the prettiest of the NY vineyards, and a lovely, spacious tasting room and grounds. Great view of Cayuga Lake. The wines here are quite good - outstanding sparkling wine, Reislings, and quite dry and tasty reds, including Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc, to name two of our favorites. A must visit amidst other good wineries on the Cayuga wine trail.
Holiday Shopping Spree 2017 : very friendly staff and gorgeous views! Beautifully decorated and very welcoming atmosphere! The food pairing was so tasty, a delicious apple crisp that was warm and perfectly paired with the wine! The staff who helped us were friendly and inviting, and we had a great experience with our group who all love different wine palates! The wine itself was middle ground, not the most fantastic but not bad. Overall was a very enjoyable experience!
We visited Buttonwood Grove last weekend and my husband and I absolutely loved it! Oleg gave us a tour around the winery and I cant say enough about how professional, polite and informative he was. We were so impressed! Buttonwood Grove is beautiful. Its tucked in off the road and the view is wonderful. We plan on returning and staying in one of their cabins which are also amazing. And the wine? The best!!!!
Just another excellent finger lake winery tucked back on 89 and boasts cabins that can be rented as well. Inside has a good layout with clean lines, plenty of windows, a sort of rustic pallet style wall, abundant seating and a deck that looks like it would knock your socks off. Enjoyed the manager’s attentiveness.
This is a great spot to chill out. Nice view from the patio and a wonderful property. Live music on summer weekends. As for the wines, I love their whites (Riesling, Fume blanc, unoaked Chardonay, Cabernet Franc and the bubbly Pet-Nat are my favorites) enough that I am member of their wine club.Highly recommend.
We loved this place so much, we went back there the next time we were in the area. The best wine is their Ice Wine. Beautiful surroundings, well-manicured garden areas, really lovely staff and the fact that they have a cat make this place a really good place to chill out in the summer or all seasons!
I really like the taste of their wine it’s delicious; however I am skeptical that the 12% wine content is actually that. I usually feel a buzz after 2 glasses of wine I drank a whole bottle of their Cabernet franc and I felt nothing. I love taste but I like to get a buzz. Every other wine I drink two glasses buzz I felt like I was drinking non alcoholic wine. I thought it was maybe just the red but the white same thing. I am hoping it was a one time thing.
We visited this winery in August, 2018 and could not have had a better experience. The associates were very helpful, and we enjoyed being there. We visited other wineries on our journey, but none compared to this one. And their wines are tops!!! I have ordered online and had a wonderful experience. If you have a choice of wineries to visit, choose Burronwood; and you will not have any regrets!
My friend and I were at Buttonwood to taste some wine, the samples we tasted were excellent, the young woman that helped us was very professional and pleasant, and was delightful. I bought glasses, but when we returned to Chautauqua country, I discovered there were only 3 glasses in the box. I called and spoke with another very pleasant person, they were so apologetic and sent me the 4th glass. Kudos to the customer service, and I received a complementary bottle of wine also. We will got back to Buttonwood, because customer service means so much. Thank you
Every time I have visitors interested in checking out some of the local vineyards and wineries, I always make sure to add buttonwood grove to the list. I have always received fantastic, friendly, and patient service and their wines are great. The view, on a sunny day, is worth a note, too!$5 for 5 tastings. Make sure to add one of the Rieslings to your tasting list.
Came by myself the other day to do a tasting. I was given a server outside who, after waiting 15 minutes, decided to come over and say hello and pour me a glass. After finishing my first glass, I sat there with an empty glass as she repeatedly went over to the table next to me bringing them their second and third glasses while having long conversations, before I decided enough was enough, and decided to leave. She then met me at the counter and suggested charging me for a full service tasting session. My only bad experience after visiting at least a dozen wineries in the region.Update: the customer service here really made up for a bad experience. They were extremely apologetic and offered to send me a bottle or 2 to make up for it. After speaking to their marketing director, Marcia, I am convinced that my visit was a fluke. Will try again when I come back to the region!
We attended the fall festival with our grandchildren and had a wonderful time. The band and food was great along with all the kids activities made for a very enjoyable day. Dave and staff are always very friendly and take the time to make for a wonderful experience. As a side note, the new edition of the semi dry riesling is sure to please. Thanks again John and Sherry
The marketing manager there was soo good. Even though they didnt do tours this time, they managed to give us a quick tour. They were very friendly. There sure are very big wineries around, but this place is must visit. Do try their frances amelia and big hollow wine. Loved it. Will surely visit again!!
Another good place to stop on the Cayuga Wine Trail! Quaint and lovely board and batten buildings. Adequate room for high conveyance vehicles. Unfortunately the parking is the usual crushed stone and gravel that makes a mess in your car after a rain like we had this morning. Oh well! Comes with the territory. Definitely a return visit needed!!!
The value you get from the $12 tasting for five wines is phenomenal. They have a large selection of reds and whites, and they provide a generous portion of complimentary cheese and fresh baked bread. The seating area is wonderful, its covered with tables and chairs and has plenty of shade while having a great view of the vineyard and Cayuga Lake. This was my favorite vineyard on our short trip just because of the atmosphere and excellent service. They really let you take your time with your tasting and make you feel welcome.

2022-02-17We had our first ever blind tasting experience at Buttonwood! It was so much fun and such as a wonderful learning experience for me. I was worried about not getting a single wine right, but the staff was so nice and informative to guide us through the tasting! The chocolate that came with the tasting was delicious as well. I really liked the Cabernet that I tried. I tried pet nat for the first time and we got a bottle home with us. I loved it! Also, I loved all the wine animals there! Agnes the dog and Merlot the cat!

2022-02-13The blind tasting is a lot of fun. The staff is welcoming, informative, and very accommodating. Theres even winery pets Aggie and Merlot (just be careful if you want to pet Merlot! She might communicate with her claws but she is a lovely cat and is fun to watch roaming the building). The wines are quality and Buttonwood Grove has a wide selection from Finger Lakes classic varietals to rosé, good blends, and pét nat. If youd be interested in a place to get comfortable and learn more about wine; the views, attentive staff, and wide selection make Buttonwood Grove a place worth seeking out.

2021-10-18Beautifully landscaped with a view of Cayuga Lake and many seating areas. There are heat lamps outside for cooler days too. It’s very dog-friendly and dogs are allowed indoors and outdoors. The service was fantastic and everyone was so nice. The wine was so good, we could’ve stayed all day long. It’s a must-visit if you’re in the area!

We loved all of the wines we tasted and the prices are terrific. If you stop by on a nice day sit outside because they also have a wonderful view.

2021-10-27My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Buttonwood. The view / grounds and wine were outstanding. The staff in the tasting room were warm and friendly. The cabins are a perfect getaway - and dont miss the opportunity to enjoy the wine with the firepit blasting in front of your cabin. A totally enjoyable experience with so much to do in the area.

2022-04-09Not only are the wines very good and the staff friendly and helpful. The location is beautiful. You can get a bottle of wine and sit the deck and enjoy the scenery. I love that their tastings are more formal. Also the lack of bus groups make it more enjoyable
