Had a waffle and also some fried ball appetiser thing. Average to good taste, average price for NYC, average portions. Between a 3 or a 4.Can’t remember what appetiser my friend ordered but was some fried ball of meat that tasted great.Waffle came with some jam or compote that was ok, overall nothing exceptional.
Our waitress was very accommodating and so was the manager. My friends and I were naughty yesterday. And the folks at BXL served us delicious food and more drinks than the law should allow. I would absolutely recommend this spot for Belgium Beer. They have Lambec ! Yes I would have liked a little bit more than just mayo like curry ketchup or curry mayo with my fries but that doesnt mean what we had wasnt great. And they even opened up the window for us.
Charming and wonderfully convenient theater district Belgian cafe. Staff were extremely friendly, kind, and efficient. The moules frites were really delicious (we had the marinières and provençales), finishing with a delightful chocolate mousse. A great pre-show experience!
This is a great place to grab a drink after a show or stop for lunch. If you are looking for some delicious food with a unique selection of beers and cocktails you cant go wrong here. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. The waitress was friendly and helpful and the food and drinks were fantastic. We will definitely be back.
Great place to stumble into in the wee hours of the morning! Like an oasis!! I found this place walking late night through the heart of the city and couldnt believe it! On tap were some of my favorite Belgian Beers that, before this discovery, I could find nowhere throughout the island of Manhattan. I ordered a Houblon Chouffe and smiled while I basked in the Belgianesque, timeless atmosphere of this little gem of a place. I looked down on the gnome on my glass and it was smiling back! The service is always spot on and I can sit here for hours sipping on superior beers and engaging in interesting conversation. It gets busy and crowded but tables/barstools open up quickly. Great munchies available late as well! I make it a point to visit for a bruges or chalice when Im in the midtown area, be sure to do as well!
Expect to find quintessentially French treats here, such as onion soup and escargot and steamed mussels. Crowded and rushed services, slightly cramped sitting space, but thats to be expected for a Times Square restaurant.Should try: Duck sandwhich, onion soup, musselsAvoid: CrepeDo reserve ahead if you can. Otherwise youd be expected to clear out in 30-45min to make room for reserved people.
A little on the pricey side, but incredible Belgian beer selection (and more), and very good food for a midtown establishment. The mussels are fantastic (tons of varieties too), and the meatballs and fries are excellent too. Plenty of seating, but if its a busy weekend/weeknight time, go earlier or get a reservation.Highly recommend the “Thailandese” moules-frites if you want something a little different! Kind of a yellow curry sauce with a good kick. They also have drop down projector screens for big sports games!
I had a big expectation from this bar because of its high ranking. It was completely full with customers on Friday evening as well. But I am really surprised after my visit. The atmo and service were quite nice. However, the food was terrible. I had a burger, which I would say was one of the worst I have ever tried. Tasteless, burned and maybe made with frozen meat. Fries were also prepared in oil which I guess needed a change. The restroom was not clean and smelled bad. I probably never go back there again.
Three stars for the house Belgian Amber. Otherwise, the service was not fantastic. I ordered the Belgian Stew which was not supposed to have bones. I chomped on something hard and bone-like (that tooth numbing jolt). No one checked on us to refill beverages or ask how our food was so I meticulously picked around the stew to avoid any other hard bits. At the end of the meal I pointed out the hard piece and informed the waiter about the bone. He stated that the meat was boneless and continued to investigate the chunk with a glove. He must have grabbed the wrong piece since he said it was fat and shrugged off my complaint. We told the waitress as well and she apologized but wished that we had told her earlier so that she could have made our experience better. Which I would have if she had checked on us. They did not comp anything.
Food was alright. Ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and chicken wings. The salad was okay, chicken was chewy. The wings tho, they were delicious. Hubby ordered the sliders and Mac and cheese. The sliders were pretty good but Mac and cheese wasn’t. Mac and cheese was super greasy.
CERO STAR!Around 9:00 pm today, Thursday May 16, 2019, I went to dinner with my mom, a place recommended by some friends (MISTAKE). We were waited by JOHAN, the WORST service we have had in our visit to New York (thanks for that BXL ZOUTE). The man was rude, he was not interested in doing his job (which is very easy by the way). The food was OK but it is a pity that the service has ruined the night. You should train your employees better. It is not an attention that is expected from a restaurant in Manhattan. And JOHAN, THE RUDE GUY, told me in the distance: RELAAAX, and towards unpleasant gestures telling me to breathe and relax. What a fool.I await a response from you and sincerely hope that this JOHAN man relaxes in his place by him self.Best,Not Your Costumer Anymore.
Came here on a whim. Im normally opposed to eating in midtown but this place had such a warm ambiance. The bar area is just beautiful. Nice rustic down-home seating area. Ordered a signature cocktail (Belgian cookies and cream) and it was absolutely perfect and strong but not over-powering. The fried calamari was really fresh and fried to perfection. Also had the mac and cheese which was good but a bit under-seasoned. Some salt remedied that. In fact, I prefer to salt my own food. Also had one of the burgers which were very juicy and fresh as well. Did not taste like it had been frozen. Id like to see a little consistency in their glasses. Most importantly, the young man who was our server was attentive but not overbearing. He knew just when to clear our plates, exactly when to offer new drinks. I really think this made the experience even better as he didnt force his presence. Definitely will return again
BXL Café specializes in modern Belgian food. We mentioned what it’s famous for – waffles, chocolate, and beer. But not only. If you check their different menus you’ll find a variety of dishes that can suit any taste and dietary needs. All of the products that you can have for breakfast are fresh – freshly baked pastry (sweet and sour croissants), fresh jus d’orange, a lot of coffee products (always hot), the famous waffles with berry compote, croquettes, tartines, and tea. You can get them up until around 11 AM. And then you can have brunch with some chicken, and blood sausage (not as scary as it sounds), steak, sandwiches, oysters (!!!), spaghetti, oeufs, and moules frites (great specials that you have to check on place). The Belgian beers are widely regarded as some of the best in the world. And for a reason. As you may expect – there are two very long lists that you can pick from. From the light crown jewels like Stella Artois and Leffe Blond to stronger ales like Houblon Chouffe, and Delirum Tremens. If you want something different you should ask your waiter for the rotating drafts. The bottled beers’ list is even longer, with the alcohol % going from an absolute 0.0% up to 11.3%. You can also find some ciders, and even a gluten-free beer (the Green Gluten-Free). Their wines and cocktails are pretty good, too, and are worth trying, if you’re not into beers.
Excellent place at Times Square to relax, enjoy very good food and a plethora of beers! Service is top-notch, friendly and knowledgeable. The food is reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. The beer selectionis superb, and if you lean towards Belgian brews, this place is for you! Highly recommended and we will return!
Cozy place with good food at a decent price, which is a rare find around Times Square area. The owner and Staff are extremely friendly and, being a Belgian spot, it’s a great choice for watching soccer matches. Good variety of bottled and tap beer. Make sure to reserve using Open Table as the bar is not too big and you may have some wait at rush times (lunch time and happy hour after work).
I love this place!!!! Its a nice place to catch a game and drink some delicious delicious Belgian beer. Also, most bars are super loud but this one is not; you can have a conversation and not have to yell. They have a very nice selection of both draft and bottled Belgian beer so you will not be dissapointed. And our server was soo nice (shoutout to Mary!!!). My only complain is that the food is overpriced and just ok but the beer is oh-so-very-overpriced. Im used to paying $6-$8/beer... here most of the beers are $10+ and I had one that was $15!!!!... which really adds up. As a lover of Belgian beer I will be coming back, but I will be saving up before I do lol
I only had a chance to have an appetizer because it was later at night but it was wonderful perfect, fresh mozzarella and tomatoes and perfectly seasoned. ..I will be sure to try a regular full meal there beacause i am sure it will be fabulous! the restaurant has a lot of character.. really just nice and super cozy with large glass windows.. it has a very nice comfortable atmosphere. The bar is nice too, nice to sit with a glass of wine and a meal. During the holidays they decorate so nicely.. Halloween its spectacular there! Definitely a place you should try , you will enjoy it there!
The food is a little expensive for the quantity provided. Otherwise, though, it was very good! Fast service, nice waitress. I got the quiche Lorraine, which was nice n creamy. Friend 1 said her crab cake Benedict was the best Benedict shed ever had. Friend 2 said her strawberry crepe was good but overcooked.
I enjoyed this restaurant. I have eaten here many times over the years. The service has always been good. I have ordered the salmon and trout and it has always been good. The steak and fries are very good. The last time I ate here, the bread was cold, but crusty. In the summer, there is an out of this world dessert. The bottom is laced cookies made into the shape of a basket with chocolate on the bottom. The cookie basket is filled with ice cream and topped with fresh berries and berry sauce. Delicious
Took my young family there for dinner and had a fantastic time. The food was good and reasonably priced. As it suggests from the name, it is not a top end restaurant, but does not aim to be.The staff looked after the kids and the owner also had a chat to us and entertained the kids. This could have been an ordinary night out to dinner, but the staff made it a night to remember.
Just had a wonderful meal with my lovely wife after seeing Hello Dolly on 44th at the Shubert. Food was amazing and service awesome. Great atmosphere, very pleased with our experience and recommend it to anyone that love mussels, fries and Belgian beers. Great authentic Belgian dishes, just pick your favorite. A +
Wonderful and popular little place just off of Times Square and well worth the trip! Small and intimate while still lively, boisterous and energetic. Good pour on the drinks. Phenomenal dishes. The shrimp croquettes were breaded perfectly while maintaining a creamy consistency inside, speckled conservatively with bites of meaty shrimp. The ribeye cuts like butter and the damned Au Poivre sauce completely elevated the experience to another level. I mean, how do you improve on ribeye cooked to perfection?!? The chocolate volcano cake was nothing spectacular but still managed to satisfy. I avoid beer normally but if you seek rare and delicious Belgian ales, this is your place! The check will be hefty but you will NOT be disappointed!
Champions league soccer usually on repeat tvs. Bar staff are quick and attentive. Drinks are Manhattan prices but the atmosphere is a lot more enjoyable than most of the Irish themed bars around times square. Food is very good quality and not too expensive. Great place to escape the tourists though it does get crowded in the evenings after the local offices shut.
This mid-town restaurant is the perfect out of town place to bring people. I usually don’t venture to this area of the city. It had a nice bistro interior and comfortable tables. The service was good and the variety of French cuisine should satisfy any picky eaters. Like anything in this area I think pricewise was a bit high. An $18 chicken club sandwich is a bit of extortion but hey it all about location, location, location.
We were just here for brunch with 9 people. The wait staff was super friendly and attentive. Everything was prepared perfectly. I had scrambled eggs with bacon, toast, home fries, juice and coffee. The kids liked their pancakes and had no complaints. Good place for a relaxed breakfast.
Came on a busy Friday night and the staff was very nice and efficient. The food however was pretty mediocre and very expensive. The glass in which the cane was still hot. This is somewhere I would consider coming back to watch the football as Im a Belgium supporter and they have screens.
Came here for dessert and coffee and was pleasantly surprised. Since its in Times Square area I expected it to be a tourist oriented and overpriced place, but its not like that at all. Pleasant hosts will welcome you and get you to your table or bar place. Chocolate and banana crepes come with a scoop of coconut ice cream and its heavenly delicious. Menu looks great and besides French bistro food, you can find some other stuff like fish and chips and other dinner/bar food delights. Didnt try any, but from looking around I can say the food looks great and every dish no matter how simple it is has a sort of signature touch. This a high volume place due to a really crowded area, so the staff does look a bit overwhelmed and dont expect extra attention if you really dont need it. They are all absolutely on point with service.
TERRIBLE! I rarely review but this was such a poor experience I had to! Just got back from brunch--there is a reason there are plenty of reservations available and open tables! Service was prompt when we sat down, ordered quickly and bread and drinks came out fast. Ordered food, and then waited 45 min for the food for a party of 3! 45 min! Two orders of eggs Benedict and both had hard boiled yolks! Quiche was fine, but come on! They offered us dessert for free but we had already been there so incredibly long we didnt have time. We complained about the eggs and all they did was take off the charge for two regular coffees (so what, maybe $4)! The manager was rude when I asked about our food and obviously has no respect for the fact that people have choices and that Im paying you for a service.McDonalds has MUCH food for a MUCH lower cost. Save yourselves the trouble and money and time!
The music can be a bit much as the bartender had a preference for Electronica that evening. Still, its a nice place to go after you leave the theater. Good drink selections but the kitchen and the bartender do not usually see eye-to-eye on things. I would not suggest ordering from the kitchen with 10 minutes to closing time.
Belgian beers and amazing burgers, they just go together like peanut butter and jelly, and BXL does it right! With a good selection of Belgian beers and an amazing, perfectly medium burger, I enjoy myself every time I come here! The bartenders and waitstaff are friendly, the atmosphere is a lively after work crowd... good times all around.
Awesome food, awesome beer. Really exceptional and perhaps a hidden gem for tourists that wouldnt know about this place.Fun tip: There is one more BXL location as well as a former BXL now called Mias on 51st and 3rd (same owner, different theme/menu now). I highly recommend them all, but its hard to beat all you can eat mussels on Mondays at the remaining BXL locations.
The bartendress here is drop dead gorgeous and a model, named Mary. The mussels are excellent.I was dining at this bar when some patron told me that Doris Day had died! It took Four vodka cranberries to get out of this Surprise/grief. I have been in love with Doris Day since I was 22 years old.
Really disappointed. Had reservations at 11:15 and they werent open. Pp in the restaurant didnt even acknowledge us, despite their hours showing they were open. If you plan to go, make sure their open when they say they will be. Otherwise you could be very disappointed as well.
Friendly staff and speedy service. Candlelit tables and light music as well as Belgian futbol make the atmosphere one that I would call “a cozy sports bar as much as it is a restaurant”I came for dessert and got the Pot Au Chocolat (pictured) and it was wonderful. We may return here again one day.
Ive been here many times over the years. Its a reliable, convenient pre-theater venue that provides decent food in a fun atmosphere with friendly service. The prices are reasonable and you can stick with something simple to eat especially if youre in a bit of a rush to get to a show and not in the mood to make a huge meal the focus of your evening. Def. recommend!
Theres a few of these sprinkled around the city and this one is no different. Excellent Belgian beer selection served in the correct glasses. This one is a bit small, with a small seating area up front, skinny bar area, and larger back area with tables. So its not a great bar for large groups, but if you have a few people you can find a place to stand.
We did a pre theater dinner here. The service was very attentive. They have a great beer list. My wife ordered a Kir Royale. The bartender did not make it well. We ordered the mussels. They serve several different styles of mussels but it clear that they do not steam the mussels with the sauces, but just pour them on top after the mussels are steamed. The fries are great and the appetizers were very good as well. This is a reasonably priced pre-theater option
We went there for dinner on a Monday early evening. The place was packed and loud, but the food and drinks were great, and the waitress was friendly and attentive. I can vouch for their filet Américain: its authentic, and very tasty. The fries are good, but not on par with the good fries available in Belgiums fry shops.
They arent going to confuse anyone by calling themselves an authentic Belgian Beer Bar, but luckily they dont. An anemic selection of 6-8 beers served alongside an uninspiring selection of mussel pots still brings in big crowds just blocks away from Times Square. On a hot NYC day this is a fine place for a cold beer, and on a cold day, its a fine place for a steaming hot pot of mussels. Very friendly wait staff in a cozy atmosphere.
We loved the seclection of beers, ate at the bar ...had a fab cheese plate and shrimp coquettes. The man next to us had French onion soup that looked great. The bartender Yves was amazing!!! Friendly and funny ....very helpful in my seclection of the perfect summer beer...will be back!
We were pleasently surprised! Being in the theater district we didnt expect much, but our eggs bennedicts ans savory crêpes arrived promptly and were very good. On the kids menu, my son had cheese ravioli with tomato sauce which he devoured, was very tasty.Cafe gourmand is generous and the dessert samples are very good. Prices are correct and the ambiance is nice, à little loud.
Had great mussels and fries at this place. Tried the thailandaise mussels (as it was highly recommended by the waitress) and didnt regret it. Tried half of a serving of marinière mussels as well. It was good but not as tasty as the thaïlandaise. Belgian beers on tap were good too. Service was quick (got my mussels and beers within 5 minutes each time). Would definitely go back
Food was ok, but just ok. Mussels were nice but the fries were dull, greasy and over re-cooked. Salad was horrible, soggy, overloaded with basic sauce. Service just wasnt there... The waiters (oweners?) seemed to have fun at the bar and completely forgot about their dining customers. Disappointed....
Very friendly place..small dining area in the back. A bit lively - as in noisy - but fun... You must like mussels here, they are quite good, large portion, several different sauces based on a wine herb broth...Good frites and aioli to go with it. Had the house beer, a seasonal dark ale and both were excellent. Fairly reasonable pricing for the beers and food. The pate was excellent as was the salad, with a very tasty house dressing too. If you are near the Marriott or Times Square this is non-touristy and well worth the visit.
This was the best food ive ever had, by far (i got the bouchée à la reine). perfect food proportions even for a picky eater like myself. the wait staff were all super nice and friendly, comfortable and pleasant atmosphere even for a family of four, and the food preparation took us maybe a quarter of the time that other restaurants took in NYC. the price was very reasonable too. its a shame that we almost passed by this gem when looking for a restaurant to go to.
Breakfast on a Saturday morning. Relaxed and casual place, that we all enjoyed. Youngest daughter said the bacon with her pancakes was really good. Her older sister was very happy with the sausages that came with hers. Tea was good and the cafe au lait was great. We will return I am sure ... no grumpy comments were heard!
Moms favorite place for lunch, we always come here to celebrate. Its where her friends took her to celebrate her first job with the NY Times like 20 years ago :DDelicious steak sandwich. Lots of classic French dishes available and some more Americanized versions for the less adventurous.
Weve eaten breakfast here 3 times so far. The service has been great and the prices about 1/3 of what the restaurant in the hotel we are staying at would charge. My only complaint is that even though they have pancakes on the menu, they cant seem to make them because their pancake machine is on the fritz.
Made reservations for my birthday. They lost it. then found it using my phone number and it was on a different day. Then found a cockroach running around the wall. which we pointed out to a waitress. who comped a round of drinks. but the bill came it was only 1 drink. The beer selection is amazing and the fries are sooooo good. but I dont see myself going back in the near future
Ordered flemish carbonnade. Spent $28 (with tax) for unsalted fries with 5 huge chunks of beef so dry that I nearly coked on every bite! Nearly no gravy. Of the gravy there was it was not sweet and savory, as the dish s none for. It was like a poor mans lomo saltado, for 2X the price. I had to throw it out. This reminds me why I dont eat in Times Square. I guess most positive reviews are for THE ALCOHOL....or very drunk people who like the food!
Customer service was really bad. I didnt get a chance to order food or drink because it was so crowded and loud. I tried asking a guy who looked like a server (turned out to be the owner) for a menu and he just said ok and kept looking at me. So I thought he didnt hear and asked again and tried sitting at the only open seat at the bar but he just kept looking at me. Then he said he was the owner. There were no servers in sight except for one very busy bartender. I was dressed regularly and looked like a normal human being so Im not sure why he wouldnt give me a menu and just stared. I got up and left because I felt really uncomfortable. But its nyc so theres plenty of other places with good food AND good or at least friendly service, so this place is not worth visiting in my opinion. The irish pubs close by had a waaay better atmosphere and the staff there was awesome. I recommend going there instead
The beer was very good, the food was also good, but the place was very, very loud. My wife and I could not hear each other from across the table. We had to repeat our orders several times for the wait staff to hear us. If you just want to watch the TV, it would be great, but go somewhere else if you want to talk.
French cafe style restaurant with bar. Medium-high prices. Menu includes soups, crepes, pastas, quiche, salad nicoise, and other French favorites. Fantastic bread. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Placemats are blank paper and crayons are on the table for doodlers of all ages! Great stop for lunch in the Broadway area!
Large bustling restaurant near Times Square - the chicken cordon bleu was delish, they have a 3 course dinner menu that is a phenomenal deal for what you get. I wasnt a huge fan of the cheesecake which was too dense for me, I dont think it was bad its just not my style. The service was great and I would definitely go back.
Ok, where do I start...Thanksgiving Day and the floats are still rising high in the morning sky when it strikes the group to grab a drink at a local bar. From searching online and reading reviews we come across Café Un Deux Trois. A festive and welcoming restaurant/bar with a great atmosphere. From the management staff to the waiters/waitresses it was love at first sight. I cant say enough about our (fill in) bartender (normally waiter) Jose Brito. The service felt like I was in his own home. He can only offer so much at a bar but more was offered as our group sat and chat for hours. His quaint yet funny conversations kept us wanting more. We are still sitting here (literally) with Jose and I dont want to leave. I strongly suggest coming here not only for Jose but for the experience. Rock on Jose and rock on Cafe Un Deux Trois.-Dan
All you can eat mussels on Sundays and Mondays. Great place to catch a pint - they have an extensive beer selection - and watch a football match. The pate appetizer is ok, their burgers are respectable and their mussels are always a hit. Too bad their fries are a little wimpy.
Ive been here on the Sunday nights and I love it. They have an unlimited mussels special + fries + a Stella for twenty bucks. Last time I was there, I ate 4 lbs of mussels. The initial pot you get is 2lb and each additional is a pound (and you can switch up sauces between them).
I used to love this place (a decade ago), but boy has it ever changed. They have a new sign, Im guessing the ownership is new. We went tonight and it tasted like diner food. My French onion soup arrived almost instantly and was burned of the top, it seems an overzealous torch was applied to cheese that seemed to have been melted on top a while back, perhaps yesterday even... The lamb burger was overcooked (well done when I asked for medium rare) and the meat so over-spiced it was hard to choke down. the bun was hard and cold, I didnt even want to taste it. The fries were skinny and tasteless, if I had to guess Id say they were poured frozen from a buy-in-bulk bag into the fryer. They werent tasty enough to have been real potatoes recently. My husbands chicken cordon bleu ($28.50) literally looked like something you could get at a diner, right down to the upside-down-cup-shaped mound of orange rice. Literally everything except the bread looked and tasted like a reheated frozen TV dinner, not like something made fresh for us.Even the drinks, which should be easy - I got a Pom-Fizz which is supposed to be made fizzy with champagne or sparkling wine, I forget which - either they forgot it or they used something old, because it was completely flat. It was good actually -but it was flat, and the maraschino cherry at the bottom was the cheap kind, not the kind you find in a drink from a quality cocktail establishment. We had to ask for water, and ketchup, and my husbands second glass of wine, so id call the service unremarkable. It was not crowded, 7pm on a Monday on the first day back from a blizzard. They were quick, Ill say that for them - so I guess if you are in a hurry before the theatre this might be just the ticket. Bumping them up to 3 stars for that, and the high ceilings which are unusual. Also - the decor has changed. It really used to have a lovely bistro-authentic look that made me feel like I was back in Paris. Theyve changed something - painted, reupholstered, tried to update it somehow - and the yellow walls, orange banquettes, yellow-orange pillars etc. make it hard to remember that true antique-y bistro feel. They obviously chose a decorator on the cheap or did it themselves - a mistake, for it does not look authentic or even nice anymore. The restaurant is certainly spacious and you do not get that claustrophobic feeling many other restaurants induce. I guess if it is competing with like a TGI Fridays for tourists in Times Square, perhaps it does OK. I was hoping for the Parisian bistro I remembered from the 90s and 00s tonight. But, I moved to Brooklyn in and I prefer farm to table now anyway, LOL.
My wife and I ended up going here on count of poor weather predictions / this place being like 2 steps from Belasco Theatre. The interior was basically pretty nice. I had an idea what we were in for when I saw all the tables had a cup full of crayons waiting. Unfortunately, Id rather be sitting at a chain like Macaroni Grill with those crayons. The food was pretty poor and the restaurant overall fit the overpriced tourist trap theme I usually prefer to avoid. The one good thing I can say is if youre looking for good, quick service for an early dinner, it works. Our waiter was polite and attentive.Dinner; Wifey got Moules Frites... bit salty but mostly tasty, but the fries were horrible. I actually stared in surprise at the fry plate for a second because I had a high school cafeteria flashback. The flashback was right... in addition to the flavor slap, the stack of fry boxes left out near the bathroom confirmed they were el cheapo, frozen, worse-than-McDonalds variety. I got Poulet Cordon Bleu... which would have been more edible if they didnt douse it with a full cup of creamy mustard sauce. Im also 99% sure the brussels sprouts that came with the meal were Steamfresh microwav--I mean, uh, freshly imported veggies from France, from garden to table.Dessert; Wife got some sort of lady finger chocolate cake, which was decently good. I got New York cheesecake (at a French restaurant), which was OK. It tasted like one of those low fat cheesecakes your Mom brings to Thanksgiving because she thinks its healthier.Recommendation; dont go here... its like choosing to pay $30 per entree for a meal youd likely find in an office building café or high school cafeteria. Maybe I just made poor choices or we came so early that a bus boy was cooking dinner, who knows. If youre not picky, hungry, and in a rush... it will work, just dont expect an actual French restuarant. The menu really fooled us, though. Oh well... at least Hedwig and the Angry Inch was pretty amazing and made up for our sad dinner.
Do not eat here. The food and the service for breakfast was not good. The host looked like he was being punished. When he came to the greet us he looked like he could have been a disgruntled diner trying to flee the restaurant. The service was deplorable although our main server who had a pleasant demeanor. When people order coffee at breakfast they want their coffee NOW! Wait, wait, wait...They got the order wrong. Asked for half & half three times. Just before they served our food, they informed me that they did not have what I ordered. The waiter suggested the Eggs Benedict -- his favorite -- which may have been the saddest one I ever had. They did not have Canadian bacon so they cut a piece of ham to look like Canadian bacon with what appeared to be a hack saw. Terrible grainy Hollandaise. Diner home fries...I could go on, but you get the picture.
Beth and I came here for my birthday dinner. We made reservations but the restaurant was still a bit packed and we had to wait. The tables are uncomfortably close to each other and the place was super loud.Beth ordered a couple of beers and she enjoyed it. My Shirley Temple is hard to mess up. Beth ordered the onion soup ($8) and the mixed salad with goat cheese and honey ($12). She has been here before and loved both dishes. The salad looked a bit plain the goat cheese and honey was beyond delicious. The warm cheese with a tad of honey melts in your mouth. It is incredibly sad that they only give 4 pieces, it was also the only reason Beth ordered the salad.I ordered the shrimp croquettes ($16) which was quite small and mediocre for the price. I also got the pasta checca ($14) which was the most unimpressive thing ever. It seems like almost anyone came make that at home. It tasted like boxed pasta with tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, black pepper and a bit of basil. Basically, something you can make at home when you have nothing else to eat.It could be the things I ordered but either way, this place left more to be desired.
Four stars for the beers. Call me chauvinist but Tripel Karmeliet, Duvel, name them all, have no equal (yet) from US breweries. The food is two stars good. The stoofvlees (carbonnades flamandes) was like my mum makes it - which is acceptable for a restaurant but left me wanting just a bit better. The pasta carbonara had met with a salt shaker accident, because no chef would ever turn that out if not for an accident. These things happen in the best of kitchens, just a pity they didn’t pick it up before it was served. The moelleux was a total disgrace. Some cheap chocolate cake with chocolate sauce IS NOT A MOELLEUX. Guys go back to cooking class. A moelleux has liquid molten chocolate in the centre of the chocolate cake. This didn’t even come close. Serve this in Belgium and you can close the joint. But oh. Did I mention the beers?
Conveniently located next to Belasco Theatre - Good place for a drink before or after show - Fabulously crispy and delicious are their FRITES - Bland were the “escargots”, “steak”, and “lamb shank” - Stale-tasting were the “profiteroles” - Reiterating: drink here’s fine!
Pleasing atmosphere, professional service and good food at fair prices, what else can you ask for in a pre- theater meal? This was our 2nd time there and the experience was identical to the 1st. Hats off the the management and staff at Cafe Un Deux Trois for starting our night off well!
Spacious and convenient location. Menu offers traditional French bistro fare. My personal favorites are the croque monsieur and the profiteroles! Theyve recently added a crepe menu that includes traditional flavors, as well as more inventive creations like the Peking duck crepe. Despite its convenient location, theres rarely a wait.
Went there for breakfast/brunch on a Sunday (around 11:00 AM). Seats were available, service was very prompt, and the food was just what you would expect on a Sunday morning: nothing crazy gourmet, but satisfying and properly portioned. My wife had the Crepes Hollandaise and a vanilla latte (thought this would be similar to a vanilla chai latte...that was not the case). Eggs were cooked just right and portioned well for just one person.I had the Pancake Breakfast but (and I STRONGLY recommend this...) I substituted the vanilla corn flake french toast for the pancakes. Came with choice of 2 eggs (scrambled), bacon, ham, or sausage (bacon), homefries, toast, juice and coffee. They offer both regular OJ and fresh-squeezed (at additional cost). Tea selection was meager, but acceptable (Chinese Green).Following the tremendous breakfast was a Creme Brulee that was cooked PERFECTLY. A subtle and sweet way to conclude the meal, with another cup of tea (Earl Grey). The decor was simple French, with a modern comfortable feel. There is more seating than the pictures reflect. From the host to the server and busboy, the service was accommodating and timely. You never felt rushed, nor did you have to wait for your order; in fact, the food came out quickly and was hot and ready-to-eat!
The worst customer service ever experienced. We requested our check to be split and the waitress was totally rude - Grabbed menus and then said system did not allow it . Considering the group size you would think it would be a more friendly place.Food was good though .
When I entered the restaurant I asked the women who I assumed was the hostess that I’ll be dining for one - but, instead of greeting me or speaking to me she pointed at a man at the sitting at the front desk. I asked him kindly “table for one please” and he just said “okay” and lead me to a booth. I sat for about 15 minutes waiting for someone to serve me. The restaurant wasn’t even busy- a lot of empty tables. I looked around trying to get someone’s attention but all the servers where pretty much talking to each other. When I finally got someone’s attention, I asked for water and for a desert menu which wasn’t given to me when I was seated. I waited and waited for the server to return but he didn’t so I decided to leave and say something on the way out. I went up to the hostess women to tell her I wasn’t satisfied and she was just hiding in the corner of the entrance on her cell phone. I’m really really disappointed and won’t ever go back.

2022-06-15Great restaurant! We went to BXL for dinner before and were very pleased. The mussels were simply amazing and could easily be shared as a meal for 2. The chicken on puff pastry was also delicious and I would highly recommend it. The overall service was great and in particular, Conner was a great and friendly server, thanks Conner! They also have a great Belgium beer selection. Overall a great evening during our trip to NYC!

2022-07-01Legit Belgian bar! Beer selection was great. Food was spot on. Service was.. fine.. which in my experience is true to the authentic Belgian bar experience in most cases 😉. Perfect easy stop if youre looking for a casual pre-show dinner spot or just in the mood for some Belgian brews!

2021-09-26Loved this Belgian bar/restaurant! A little gem in the heart of midtown with the friendliest staff, a great beer selection and delicious food that is served in generous portions. Comfy outdoor seating is available, bar seating and a dining area indoors. I was surprised by how many tables there were in the dining area when I walked back...it appears deceptively small due to its cozy charm. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a delicious burger with brie and an enormous serving of muscles in white sauce. Seriously the biggest serving of muscles Ive ever seen in a restaurant. Both served with French fries with ketchup and mayo...my fave. The bartender was great and he and another worker (maybe they are owners) often spoke in fluent French which made me feel like this place was authentically Bemgian.

2022-06-13An amazing find close to Times Square. Their house beer is delicious, and the Croque Madame was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had all week. Excellent beer, excellent food, and an exceptional vibe.

2022-06-24Easily the best restaurant in Times Square, amazing food and amazing service! Waitresses and bartenders are extremely attentive. Management was very sweet as well and came and checked on our dining experience. 10/10 recommend. Definitely a staple to Times Square feeling that you can walk in a restaurant and feel like you’re in a different country!
