Cachapas y Mas in other cities:
I dont speak Spanish so its hard to order on the phone, but once they realize that, theyll send one of the younger folks to get your order.ANYWAYS, its really good greasy food for when youre feeling sad. I like their arepas the best, followed by the patacon. The empanadas are also solid, but eat them as soon as you get them, or else they get a weird soggy texture. Everything has gone up in price since the pandemic by a buck or two, so this has become more a treat now.
The place could use some updating in regards to tables and decor. It is not a fancy restaurant at all.The staff was friendly. I made an order to eat in and they still served it with to go packaging which seems wasteful and bad for the environment.I ordered the Cachapa with Venezuelan cheese. It was a good size, the cheese was very delicious, buttery like.
This is a Hidden gem in the lower East side of Manhattan. Easy to see right off of Dyckman Street. A Venezuelan food stop with counter service. Specialties are their sandwiches with plantains instead of bread. The pernil is great. Parking on the street is available but it fills up fast. We will definitely be going back.
I come here a lot but today was a terrible experience. I no longer recommend and changed my rating to zero. I called ahead for takeout and I paid when I arrived. I waited for over 20 minutes and then I checked in on my order. There was a group of 5 people that came to dine in and they all received their food before me. It turns out my order was already prepared and packaged when I first got there but I was not notified, the cashier or any workers never checked in on me or my order and didnt apologize after handing me my cold food. Managers please prepare your staff more, and dedicate more employees to assist. I will not visit until this issue is addressed.
Very good food! The portion sizes are very nice and every feels very fresh. They lose a star because the cachapas that my friends and I ordered were missing the lettuce, tomatoes, and sauce, even though I asked the cashier twice to make sure they included it. Still pretty good spot and would definitely give it another try.
Great tasty food. You can feel it is original. Patacones carne mechada was amazing. Basically toasted plantians instead of bun. They have a good choice of sauce for it. Counter served, you pay leave your name they call you when it is ready. There is a seating area too. Easy to access location.
Im so worried that I will never again have cachapas that were as amazing as the ones I found in Vegas!First of all, Im too new to cachapas to really know how I should order them for myself. The first time I magically did everything right. Here, I made the mistake of adding tomato and lettuce because for some reason I thought theyd be served in the side or simply on top. And in the end, I didnt really want tomato and lettuce at all.If I returned, I would choose multiple cheeses. I would also ask if any of their meats came prepared in a sauce. The pork I had did not. While the meat was tender, it was missing the flavor I found on the west coast.Maybe Ill have better luck next time? Or maybe Ill find some place that makes them the way I want?? #HeartBroken #LookingForTheRightCachapa #NevadaStoleMyCachapaHeart
I think the food is excellent here but the management isn’t good.Completely disorganized. One day it’s a $10 minimum to use your card and the next day you can use your bank card for any amount. I think it’s completely a waste of time to run to the bank and come back just to buy a lunch. It’s unnecessary to buy extra food items that I won’t eat and throw it out. I rather cross the street where they take any card payment amount and I can buy as many times as I want a day. The card minimum payment rule is absolutely ridiculous.
Food is amazing but theres a major flaw, their costumer service is getting worse as they get more famous. They always have a nasty attitude (mostly the front girls) and they barely listen when you order, they made mistakes on some of my orders because of this. Ive been going to this place for almost 10 years and unfortunately I will keep going even with the bad costumer service just because I love their food. Hopefully they put their feet on the ground and realize that bad costumer service can ruin their business.
The place has good food. But the girl at the front Nathalia S has a bad attitude. I asked for the Venezuelan cheeseburger and she gets mad cause I didn’t say it in Spanish. And when she gave me the food I asked for sauce but she completely ignored me a shut the window until I said something again and she threw her hands up when I asked again. Definitely won’t order if she is working the front again.
Dont waste your time and money. Not authentic Venezuelan food. I never share my cachapa with cheese with nobody but this time I quickly gave it away after the 1st bite. Cachapa has no taste too plain and arepa look dry to me. Try cachapa elsewhere then you know what Im talking about. Very disappointed.
Everything is great except for the fact that I just bought 10 palitos de quezo and 5 tequelIollo. I know they knew what they put in the bag because I just got robbed by them. They only put 5 palitos and just 3 tequellollo & of course they charge me for everything. Next time Ill be looking inside the bag right there and you should also look inside of what you buy here.
I ordered two Patacones (Carne Asada) the steak was dry, the lettuce wasnt fresh and it was completely absent of any flavor. I convinced my wife we should eat this for lunch and she was completely disappointed. Ive been there before and usually order the Tacuchos (Carne Asada) and its usually good but idk completely dropped the ball on this.****This review is strictly about my food experience not the atmosphere or staff due to covid19 seating arrangements are restricted****
Food is good, their delivery service sucks though2021 Edit: Quality has gone down the drain. Food is always cold, even if you order food to stay in the restaurant. They Always, and I really mean always, get your order wrong. Everything tastes like it was weeks old and barely reheated in the microwave for a few seconds. Very sad as I used to really enjoy their food. Also, they dont have a delivery service anymore, so you have to order delivery through Ubereats or Postmates.
Great food, terrible service. I have gotten attitude from the staff plenty times I visit. They charge extra to add cheese into the cachapas and forget to add it. The worst part is that they get upset when you complain about THEIR OWN mistakes rather than apologizing to their customers. If you’re looking for tasty food served to you with no care or respect, you’ve found your place.
I came last night to pick up my food. Which they said it was ready and instead if helping they completely ignored me and my partner. They had some Hunchback of Norte Dam looking security guard being rude and hostile with me. A lady there was completely dismissive and when we asked them about our food. They looked for it meaning they had our food before and gave it away. They were nasty, rude and dismissive. I don’t know who they hired that’s new there but they need to be let go because this is unacceptable
I ordered food online for delivery , the driver calls me to tell me to come down so I come down no one is there so I call the number back and they say I delivered your food already a little girl came down an said the order was hers . So you didn’t verify if it was the right person food or not you just gave it away . He says she new you’re name so yeah it was legit . Wrong my name is on the bag of course she new my name . People please do not order from them the delivery men can barely speak English and they just give your food away after taking and hour to make it .
I don’t care how good the food is if your workers aren’t polite and respectful you deserve a 0 star but google doesn’t allow that😊. I came in and was nice and the workers taking my order were unfazed and rolling their eyes and talking to me with an attitude. I sat down waiting for my order and their tables were greasy, their air conditioner or ceiling was dropping water on me - I was disgusted. I should’ve asked for my money back honestly and went somewhere else for my money’s worth. I’m Venezuelan and personally I feel disrespected by my own people. They need some serious attitude control because that’s how they lose costumers. Honestly, I would never go here again and I’d rather travel a longer distance to a restaurant that actually values their customers.
This is the place a lot of people visit after being out all night. I have had the burgers, spelling beginning with m escapes me for the moment, several times and the burger answers the call of any hungry person in search of that fix. If you go early when they have time to make it ideally, you will be in for a culinary treat your eyes can see in advance piled high six inches or so. Other menu items are great too, but that burger is one of those go tos you will steadily revisit.
I probably order from here once a week via Uber Eats. I called today before I placed my order on the app because it didn’t allow me to enter notes for the order. They always send the Yoyos in aluminum foil, but an actually plate is required in order to eat it without a mess. I called and asked if they can put it in a to go plate and the cashier asked the manager and was told no. I literally did it a week ago when I went to the store. I offered to be charged extra for a plate that’ll probably cost them 5 cents max. It’s a shame that they can’t cater to the customers that are keeping their business alive. Great food but the customer service lacks.
Great place, I had the pulled pork sandwich but they had many other Spanish dishes that looked great. Fairly busy all the time Im sure. Every color and country that speaks Spanish was ordering here..... Be prepared to wait for parking- only Pros will find parking here.
Always passed by this place but only recently went in. Why did I wait so long? Its all so good! I am not Venezuelan, so I cannot attest to how authentic the food is. What I can say is that it definitely tastes like down home food.Though it is quick food, its far better than fast food. I stop in here on my way home or on my way out for a quick snack instead of McDonalds or anything like that. I did delivery once and the guy was a little slow getting to me. Food was still hot, though.
If youve never had a cachapa.....you should! Place was packed and the line was down the block. Definitely not staying with your meal but the food is worth it. Went back a few times all the way from Long island and it was worth it every time. Cheese sticks were also very good.
Delicious food!! Love, love this place. Theres usually a wait but its so worth it. You will get a really great meal and for an unbeatable price. I have been coming here for many years and this place hasnt change a bit. Love the atmosphere and the workers are very nice and friendly. You will be well taken care of here
I would love to tell you this was a great meal. However, we never received it. We ordered through Postmates for it to be delivered to our home. After an hour, I started checking. Called the restaurant -- it was picked up so they washed their hands of the situ. Then the Postmates app reported that it was delivered, but we are without food and are canceling the charge. DO NOT USE POSTMATES.
Great food for low prices ! It was my first time tasting Venezuelan food , the cashier was very patient and friendly . The arepas were fresh . The juices were homemade and fresh . The sauces tasted like they were made in house . Everything tasted like good quality food and it was ready in under 10 mins ! Definitely recommend this place for a quick bite
One of the best place to eat in Dyckman. They serve some goooood cachapas. & they are basically open 24/7. This store expanded dramatically in the past years. That’s how you know their food is good. They have and express section next door. It’s the same owners, but idk how I feel about there over priced hotdogs lol. I never had it but I’m assuming it’s good. The cheese stick with the pink sauce is also good. And there expensive drinks is alright. Overall, if you come here then you better get a cachapa. They have different meat options and toppings. Enjoy!
A heart-warming Venezuelan restaurant for any hungry people. A definite pleasant find for someone who just started working here. The food is quality and delicious. Love the cheese stick and empanada. On top of that, even though I am typically NOT a juice person, their passion fruit juice is out of the world!!!! I wanted to save some for my friend but couldnt resist finishing it lol Will have to just take him here personally next time :))Thanks for an amazing experience here guys!
I love their Cachapas... they are always busy ( especially on the weekends ) so I always call ahead and place my order at least when im 15 minutes away. Ive always had great services regardless of the crowd. I would also recommend their Jugo de Chinola (passion fruit juice) -I did notice that they opened another spot right next to this one called Cachapa y Mas Express (this is where I had to go when I places my order over the phone.
Okay food overshadowed by awful service.I called for delivery once and was told they dont deliver to my neighborhood. That wouldve been fine, except that theyve delivered to my place several times before. After I politely mentioned that, the lady on the phone went to ask another employee. A few seconds pass and I hear a lady scream in tell that lazy man to just come in. When the employee came back on the phone, I mentioned this and she hung up.Like I said, the food is okay, but its not worth dealing with the rude employees that work there.
I came here because my wife was craving this food with my baby boy in her belly. at 10:30AM 7/9/18. What I’m upset about is that it says 24 hours on here.. this is pure false advertisement. Get it together! By the way it’s 11:15AM and they are still not open I’m still waiting.. I will not come here again after this experience I got today. Update it’s 11:35AM now getting my food the excuse was they need time to clean... still false advertisement. Will not be coming back.
Yummmm!! Great late night food after a night of partying uptown. I love there patacons, it can be a bit dry so just make sure to put enough of the pink sauce which will make anything taste good!Great menu and everything is affordable, quick to go spot so do not expect much. Get in hungry, go out full & happy
I absolutely LOVE cachapa!! I always get the same thing every time I go. Mozzarella cachapa, passion fruit juice & sometimes cheese sticks. (To die for!)The only reason I’m giving it 3 stars instead of 5 is because the fattest cashier always makes it a miserable experience. She’s careless, not attentive & has a nasty way of handling customers.
The food here was good, but it was hard to eat because they give you a very flimsy knife and fork for a thick arepa.I also went with a veggie friend who would have liked to add a few extra veggies to her cheesey meal, but that was not an option.Theres no light or vegetable filled option, so keep that in mind when you are going.
Great spot, specially for late nights after partying. Their tequeños, cachapas and arepas as very good. Their patacones are ok, but I find that Patacon Pisao on 205 makes them much better. They have tamarind, cherry, and chinola juice, plus the usual drink fare. At nights it gets very crowded and you can wait a good 15 - 20 minutes on line.
This place can really do no wrong. Even though there is a bit of a language barrier sometimes due to the fact that some of the workers dont speak english well, this place is amazing. Ive been here multiply times. I travel far just to get a Dominican style yoyo (delicious even the next day) . The food is good and the staff is for the most part friendly and patient. Even if they make a mistake on the order, they fix it without a problem. If you go please try their Cubano or Salami y Queso Frito (Dominican style) yoyos. You wont regret going here.
Im from out of town and found this nifty little place while walking around. The food was amazing!! I had the most un-American burger possilbe in Manhattan, and Ill be damned if I dont get another before I leave. Price was pretty decent, tax is included on the prices, however they have a minimun $10 total purchase fee to use plastic.
Hot Venezuelan place that has Cachapas, Arepas, Yo-yos and other Venezuelan quick bite plates that are reasonable price while being consistent in taste, amount of food and staff attention, the food is always good and the place keeps getting better with time, you can dine here or take it to go, regardless is a nice place that offers consistent food with great taste. Try it, youll love it.
I don’t see a lot of Venezuelan food around (though I don’t live in Inwood), I thought this was pretty good. I couldn’t tell you the difference between a cachapa, a patacón, a yoyo and an arepa, but I tried pieces of all of them. The ones made with sweet corn and sweet plantains were the best; I had cheese-only fillings and thought the cheese was nice, but sorta wished I had had some meat in there too.
So it took us about an hour to finally get food, but look it was 4 am and my sense of time is a little hazy at that point anyway. The point is, sometimes you reach that point of the night where you need fried cheese, fried plantains, fried cornmeal and pink sauce STAT, and this place has cachapas AND MORE (as it says). I regret nothing.
Embarrassing. They have no pride in their work, as a result you end up with a slop of mess that resembles a toddlers work. The clown behind the grill squashes the sandwich and shows less professionalism than a teenage McDonalds employee. The sad thing is they used to be decent, now theyre a poor imitation of what they used to be. For $10 they should take the extra 15 seconds and make sure they do a good job, also if you ask them for anything but that horrible pink sauce they often just forget because they just cant be bothered.
Patacones are just awesome 1st off get 2 and youll thank me later! Ive lived near this place for months and never gone inside but now Ive added it to my repertoire of places near me to grab a great bite. The crispy plantain wrapped meaty goodness was excellent and really flourished when I added the hot sauce mix. They also serve shark and well I really the best way to describe shark is...Shark is Shark, its Amazing. Enjoy
I am completely in shock. The new staffing are inhumane. I was at the location with the urge to buy palito de queso and while waiting I wanted to use their bathroom. The lady in cash register denied access to the bathroom. I politely told her that I am 3, months pregnant and that I have to use their bathroom. To make the story short, I never got to use their bathroom, nor their bathroom didnt have a sign up stating under construction. Im totally disappointed.
As a Venezuelan I came here to eat their ”Venezuelan style” cachapa which is advertised to have Venezuelan cheese but it ended up just having mozzarella cheese (not guayanés or queso de mano), and the cachapa dough was very salty/plain and not sweet at all how a cachapa is supposed to be. Their tequeños are alright. Not gonna knock their hustle but not an amazing representation of Venezuelan food.
Venezuelan at its finest. The food is simple, letting the ingredients talk. Shark patties have some fresh ocean flavor and the hot sauces really add to the plantanos and other dishes. Ask the staff what their favorites are, make some friends, theyll take care of you.
Easily the best spot on Dyckman st. Everything is fresh and made to order. You will wait a bit for your order, but your patience is rewarded with things like the pernil arepa. The pork is super juicy and exploding with flavor. Ask for the sauce (ketchup/mayo) on the side, as they tend to be very liberal with it. Otherwise stuff there is firemost!
This place is almost out of character considering the other storefronts in Washington Heights, but its a colorful, clean and vibrant restaurant which serves the best (and only) patacon Ive ever had!Deliciously crispy plantain sandwiches with perfectly seasoned meat, you will want to get one for everyone you know!!!I was with a group of people who were raving about the shark patties, which smelled quite sharkey (?). But, since Im not into anything that swims, I did not partake.
Pollo asado tacucho is the way to go after a night of drinking. The empanadas are cornmeal, instead of flour, so bear that in mind. Its a different kind of empanada. I personally prefer flour. 😉The crowd varies because of all the clubs nearby. Theres always some nonsense going on for people watchers, though! 😂
As a Venezuelan, Im deeply drawn to this type of places, and to find this gem is this neighborhood was like finding Harina Pan when I lived in Winnipeg (Canada)... the flavors, the papelón con limón, the tequeños (aka mozzarella sticks), the cachapas... really good delicious Venezuelan food!
Buyer Beware. Daughters credit card was charged multiple times and still no response from the manager who has not been in apparently for several attempts. 3x charges for 1 meal..... They claimed that the first card didnt go through...Ive been working with her remotely to remedy it, but repeated calls to the place have resulted in no help. Bank will be next.Id say take cash.
I tried my first patacone here, but hopefully not my last. It was a bit like a panini but with corn-based bread and filled with pulled pork. As if thats not already a treat, theres some pink mayo and hot sauce you can add to add even more zing to this treat. (I also tried a shark patty and I didnt love it, but if youre feeling adventurous, why not give it a go.)

2022-05-17Amazing food and friendly staff. You will never believe having pancake taco/sandwich like dish. The amazing flavor made up for my suspicious feeling if something can taste so good. Steak was cooked amazingly with flavor, just bland meat. The mixture of spice and sweet made for a unique blend and style that I couldnt ever place again. The only knock would be price, however the food is way worth it.

2021-08-27I have lived 70% of my life in Washington Heights but never knew about Cachapas y Mas. I have friends and family who drive from long distance to come grab a bite to eat here. I decided to drive down and try it for the first time. Dont get intimidated with having to order through their window and seeing a long line - the wait wasnt that bad at all. (Dining inside was closed). The cashier lady was the sweetest and gave explanation for dishes. She even helped with suggestions. Now lets get to the food: OH MY GOD, I am addicted. Absolutely delicious! We ordered Patacon with pernil, Cachapa with 3 cheeses, cheese sticks and 2 delicious drinks that I cant remember their names for the life of me!

2021-05-03The best cachapa I’ve ever had! The perfect combination of flavors I will never get over the sweet corn cakes, chicken, and the creamy sauce. It’s located right off Dyckman street and next to the subway. If you find yourself in the area you have to stop by. The staff are extremely friendly and if you have questions on the menu they have fabulous recommendations.

2021-07-27Read great reviews about the cachapas and patacones and decided to give a try. Not a huge fan of corn based shells/tortillas but still really enjoyed each. The roast pork cachapa was juicy and well marinated and the mozzarella patacone was fresh and had plenty of huge mozzarella chunks

2020-01-26Delicious and unique taste. This was our first time tasting Venezuelan food, so can’t really comment on whether it’s authentic or not. We ordered pork cachapa, beef yoyo, chicha, and papelon. The sweet corn pancake (cachapa) was crispy and the pork was well marinated. The sweet plantain sandwich was really sweet, but in a good way. The texture however was a bit too wet for me. If it were crispy like the cachapa, it would be great. The chicha beverage was unique but a little bit too thick. Perhaps we should’ve waited for the ice to melt. The papelon was sweet and refreshing. Could drink it the whole day!
