Cafe Euphoria provided me with gorgeous, unique gift baskets during the holidays. Each recipient was thrilled with the combination of freshly baked goods and other tasty treats. I was happy to support Troy’s newest spot where good things are happening. Thank you all for bringing good vibes to Troy!!
Really nice staff, great menu and good coffee. building and eating area are really nice and the coworking space is comfortable. the thrift shop has a lot of nice clothing toothe restaurant is still getting in the swing of things and the staff are learning the ropes so just be understanding if something doesnt go quite rightits also cool theyre trying out a sliding scale price system,
The food and drinks at Cafe Euphoria is amongst the best in the capital region. The venue is beautiful and located very close to the Hudson River providing incredible proximity and views of the river. Be sure to spend an afternoon or evening here during one of the great events being hosted here as well.
This fabulous cafe is my favorite!! They have the absolute best waffles in town and it is a fantastic community hub. With events, thrifting, and great food, this is my dream cafe. It is such a welcome addition to the Troy scene!! Experience it for yourself!! I highly recommend it!!
Stopped in for the first time during the Farmers Market this morning (5/21/22) and paid $10 for a plain bagel with nothing on it and a small coffee with nothing in it. I have since viewed your local news video describing the Cafe and the sliding scale pricing. While I have no issue with flex pricing based on financial means, the rest of your pricing policy is way out of line for a business thats open to the public. Fix that.
This was an unexpectedly wonderful experience! My 13yo vegan daughter and I happened upon Cafe Euphoria and chose it specifically for its vegetarian and vegan options. My daughter has an “eclectic palate”, yet she was asking for a second helping! The Breakfast Tacos with green tomatillo salsa are dangerously addictive. The roasted red pepper remoulade dressing is worthy of being bottled and sold separately! We will definitely be returning, frequently.
It’s just not a great business model. It’s horrible to see how many food safety violations are going on. Not to mention the messed up pay structure and not offering any employee benefits. I love the idea behind it but as a non binary they don’t definitely make me feel excluded which isn’t the reason for the score. The food is way over priced and just…not the best. I really hope they change what’s needed because the model isn’t survivable and it’d be sad to see them go.
We really had a great experience trying this place during the soft opening. The staff was so kind and welcoming and the tacos were amazing! I’m really looking forward to going back and trying the whole menu. The staff seem to be working hard to make this place great and I hope the community is here to support them in that!
Im writing this review from a table in Cafe Euphoria. Its such a friendly place. Atsushi, the owner, just brought me some Kimchi-fried Rice on the house to sample, in addition to the latte Ive already had. They have a three to one sliding scale for payment, which means that if youre not making a full-time income you can get a reduced rate, and if youre a trans or nonbinary person unable to pay the middle price you can pay a further reduced rate called the solidarity price. I love to have a place where I can do my homework and enjoy a coffee even if my tips for the week are running low and Ive only got a couple bucks on me. The employees and owner really take care of you here.
I am so glad this worker owned, trans, queer, beautiful space exists in downtown Troy! Great location and great Chai. I saw an Eileen Fisher jacket in their thrift store, so you know its well-curated. The art represents something like 27 different queer and trans artists, and their events are so creative! Awesome addition to the Troy scene.
Ate here for the first time this afternoon. What s wonderful atmosphere, and the food is excellent. I had a breakfast burrito and a glass of ice tea. Plus, the GM Atsushi gave me a complimentary yogurt banana smoothie, which was a pleasant surprise. The cook (very friendly, did not get their name) asked me if I wanted hot sauce; when I said hell yeah they gave me a cup of some of the best and hottest homemade hot sauce Ive ever had. As a queer/bi GNC older person, I felt right at home. I think anyone, including straight allies, would. Some of the other reviewers dont like the three tiered pricing. Some of the comments seem to feel the lowest tier, reserved for members of the trans and GNC community who are financially distressed, is not very inclusive. I respectfully disagree. Its a self declaring system, and it seems to be designed to be a welcoming spot for ALL people,, with the knowledge that the trans/GNC community has needs which are not normally met by agencies designed to assist financially distressed people. I even found some lovely tops in the on premises thrift store. I will definitely be back. I highly recommend it.
How refreshing to have such an unconventional food and community space in the heart of Troy! I love that the trans & gender-queer experience is centered in this space unapologetically. For people expecting Applebees or other traditional US eateries catering to the status quo, you will be disappointed for all the reasons I am delighted by Cafe Euphoria. Congratulations to the whole crew for the courage to curate this amazing cafe!!
I really appreciate the concept of Cafe Euphoria and have supported them since seeing them at a pride event last summer, when they first began to crowdfund to make their vision come to life. I want them to succeed, as having a trans run cafe, curated thrift and coworking space can make a difference in many people’s lives, and increase the community’s visibility. They support queer artists which is wonderful. But I want to share the concerns I have, some of which I have had for a while but I wanted to make sure I visited in person first before leaving a review:My wife and I came at a pretty active time due to them having the bathroom designated for use at Veg Fest, but I felt very overwhelmed as soon as I entered. And being that they have events there like hangouts and drag brunches, I know it is still appropriate for me to write about my experience in this manner. I am autistic but am used to going to places where I may experience sensory overload, and often I am good in crowds and closed in spaces (like festivals, conventions, rides, small stores, etc.) and I know that it is not the venue’s fault. I am mentioning it here though since I think it was how the counter, tables, trash/ recycling, and thrift rack often were within inches of each other that I had no idea where to go/ stand that affected me worse than usual. And I know that this may present as an issue for many reasons such as people being able to comfortably fit in their seats or get up easily and claustrophobia. It is not an accessible place for using mobility aids either. And I know that a good amount of people who are both queer and disabled / queer and neurodivergent would love to support Cafe Euphoria but it may just not be possible to comfortably access the cafe.In terms of food, I did enjoy the chorizo taco I had at the veg fest booth. The arugula salad was super small though for the price and lacked flavor. The full price probably has to be higher than most places would charge due to having a sliding scale to make it more affordable to lower income people, but it also ends up making it less likely for people who do not qualify for the lower prices, to want to get much from the cafe, because they can get a lot more for less from other places. And I do understand the reason for the sliding scale and how much money is needed to keep this business going/ support the community, but I really wonder how it affects their potential for profit. When going downstairs to view the additional pieces of the art gallery, we felt like we were not supposed to be down there because the stock room was open, the coworking space was very messy and there were electronics and tools out in the open without any staff present (there was a sign saying about the additional artwork downstairs/ nothing indicating it was currently closed).I overall left feeling pretty overwhelmed and off, which never has happened to me at a cafe/ restaurant/ small business. I will continue to support Cafe Euphoria through social media and pop up events as again, I love the concept. Know that they were created by people without prior management experience, I do think there is a large learning curve playing a role, and I know they are really committed to this business. I hope to see them grow, and become a place more people can comfortably visit, eat and hang out at. I hope to one day be able to update my review to a higher rating.
I was debating posting this but considering how new the cafe is, a lot of things need to change if they are to survive. The long and short of it is they lack the experience and are trying to do too many things. They need to narrow their focus because you cannot be a restaurant, cafe, thrift store, and community hub all at once. Especially when you lack restaurant experience.I came here for an event with a bunch of my friends. We paid for our food (10-20-30 sliding scale for dessert, a quesadilla, and chips/dip). I requested no dairy on mine and I didnt realize that was the most I could request; nobody could place any orders. The event was downstairs, where we sat in what appeared to be a disorganized conference room. There was an open closet with papers and boxes and other msc things. For name tags, there were postit notes that didnt even stay on your shirt. As the night rolled on it seemed apparent the hosts didnt really have much planned for this; there were no activities or things to do other than talk, which makes it hard to break the ice. When they started bringing down the main course, everyones food was lukewarm and it was clear after two or three plates that nobody had actually ordered their food, they just brought down what was made. Towards the end of the night the host came down and said if you had yet to be served (almost two hours in!) That you could go up and order one based on the ingredients available. Ingredients available were not worth what we paid for; pre-shredded cheese, canned mushrooms, canned refried beans. Seriously? Chipotle is a TERRIBLE company but I could have gotten fresher ingredients from them for less than 10$ at minimum! They also said there was dip and chips but they were keeping it upstairs because the people upstairs were eating it (there was less of them upstairs and they werent even here for the event).Additionally, many doors were unlocked that should not have been. There was a door in the bathroom to an unfinished space with insulation just on the ground. The door to the basement was unlocked. There werent signs to show you where the bathroom was and the bathroom was filthy. Everything looked so unfinished but they claimed to be open, just by reservation only. There is a lot of work that needs to be done before they live up to what they want to be. I was really disappointed. And as much as I loved the dog, dont have a dog in a room with an open kitchen. Especially if that dog is a long coated breed.

2022-05-10This place is amazing. The person at the counter was really nice and was energetic. the food and drinks are outstanding. I felt that I could express myself safely and without judgment. Truly a gem in the Capital Region. If they open a place in Schenectady I will be there all the time.

2022-04-09I came in for a simple cup of coffee and I had a delightful experience. The decor was cute and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I felt instantly at ease seeing patrons and staff exhibiting a wide array of gender expressions and personal styles. The cafe was lively on a Saturday afternoon, but not crowded. I felt really cared for with staff checking in on me and even offering me a free vegan mango smoothie! (try it- its amazing!). I saw some very tempting plates of food being brought around and wonderful smells coming from the kitchen. Ill definitely be back to try out their brunch menu.

2022-04-28I just enjoyed the Curry Chickpea Salad Sandwich which was a tasty mix of curry (not too strong) with the delicate texture of chickpeas adorned with butter lettuce atop crusty bread. I will definitely get it again, but will probably opt for the lettuce wrap next time and request a fork to pick up every last morsel of the salad that came loose from the sandwich. I was offered a lavender latte which I happily accepted, iced with oatmilk. It was the perfect blend of creamy, dreamy, and sweet. Well done, Brett, and kudos to everyone involved in making this cafe happen!

2022-08-21I came for brunch with friends and was totally charmed. All of the food is amazing with vegetarian or vegan options. With their selection of art pieces from local artists, thrift clothing and accessories, and LGBTQ community items, theyve created an amazing and cozy experience. Cafe Euphoria has created a unique safe space that truly understands the needs of their target community, as can be seen in their sliding scale payment system. All of the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely become a repeat customer!

2022-06-17Ive visited several times and had a delightful experience every one. the quality of the food is first rate and the atmosphere is fantastic. I fully support a business that lives its values. Worker owned, taking meaningful steps to include those with less ability to pay. Brave, bold and delicious!

2022-03-27Cafe Euphoria is a queer and trans friendly space that is currently soft opening on weekends. The owners told us they are opening it on weekdays later in spring. The cafe is very welcoming in terms of both people and decor. The pricing is on a sliding scale. We tried the gallette pastries and they were lovely! The lattes are great too. Cafe Euphoria also has thrift sections! We are excited to return!

2022-04-21I have a lot of health code concerns. The way food is served and prepared, both from what I experienced and what they willingly post on social media is very concerning. It also concerns me they seem to only care about a specific type of queer- as shown with their thrift shop and the sizes they accept, not the most inclusive for a place that claims to be. They dance around it when questioned or simply ignore it (see the concern about the dog in another google review). They had the entire community donate their money, time, and services like construction. While it’s a wonderful thing that the community banded together to help, it’s not a survivable business model. The news article said they don’t have any restaurant or management experience. The way they outlined the pay for the chef is not only way too low for the skills they are asking, (it doesn’t matter what the business is, your people deserved to be paid for their skills and talents ) they also have a weird formula to pay them in equity so they don’t actually have to pay them even those low wages. While this concept is wonderful, I fear everyone’s actions are going to be in vain. Luckily by getting loans donated they won’t be on the hook to payback. Good for them. Not so great for those that helped.
