We were walking for a while and we just saw the name and we walked in. What a great surprise to enter this gem and enjoy a meal. Super nice and cozy restaurant, we had the Norwegian Rosti with salmon I got an amaro spritz and my bf got a beer. We had a great chat with our bartender about the stuff on their walls and some drinks he was experimenting with. Food was good drinks amazing and the only down for me was that they ran out of apple strudel. Other than that for sure well be back next time in New York.If you sit at bar ask about the black round device on the wall, we learned a lot about that device lol.
Did not enjoy this unfortunately. The staff did not know what a flat white was and brought out basically an espresso shot with a dash of over frothed milk. I asked them to please make it again and they didnt do much better the second time. At that point I just drank it because I was really wanting a coffee. The food is actually good. The staff was quite rude sadly. I asked a staff member if they had a bathroom and he said no we make people go out in the park across the street. Its at the back. Not sure if it was meant to be a joke (Im sure it was) but he wasnt smiling so it just confused me.Also just note, when paying by card the minimum suggested tip is 21% now, not 15% as it used to be so just be aware of that.
I really dislike giving negative reviews, but this place really disappointed me.Firstly, after taking our order we waited over an hour to get our food. When the food arrived, it was lukewarm.I ordered the hangar steak and it was very subpar - too chewy to enjoy. The escargot was fine, but not the most flavourful.According to my friends, the Zucchini chips were absolutely delicious. I did not try them as I am GF.Finally, at the end of the meal there was a complication with the bill. My friend who booked the reservation had to put down a $20 per person fee in advance, which was supposed to be put towards the meal. When the bill arrived it had not been deducted and had my friend not spoken up, the waiter wouldn’t have taken the money off. This in itself was a big ordeal as the waiter had to go back into the kitchen for a while to figure out how to take the money off the bill. This is my second time at Cafe Select and unfortunately I don’t think I will be returning.
Looked nice enough but the host didn’t even want to seat us (at one of the 10+ empty outside tables at 4pm on a Sunday) because we only wanted coffee and desserts. “Other people will want to be seated for a meal and you’ll be taking up a table.” Ma’am. It’s empty. Get over yourself. 🙄
I really used to love this place, also because it’s been a real cure against my Zurich homesickness. I must admit that last couple of times I went to Select (always with Swiss friends whom I wanted to experience the place) I was pretty disappointed. We went in on what seemed to be a quiet afternoon with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (outdoor was completely empty) – when I asked if we could sit down for “just” coffee and maybe a very small bite the server very reluactantly let us sit at one of the many tables, agreeing to have us only if we grab lunch (and did that in a pretty rude manner to say the least). We waited to have a waiter see us for at least 20 minutes, noticing that the staff was standing around behind the counter and joking with each other and other guests (I guess regulars). After we were able to order and got our (still very good!) food we noticed that the people that were seated next to us were very easily able to “just” order water and since they obviously were models were treated completely different.I would really like to return to this place in the future – but only if the servers’ behaviour changes drastically.
I came here for a quick bite. I ordered a mimosa and a lobster bisque soup. I was not impressed. The lobster bisque tasted watered down and lack of any lobster flavor. I had a couple spoonfuls and just left it there. I wouldn’t recommend anyone get this. There’s a better lobster place down the street that’s a lot better. The waitress was friendly and the mimosa was good. They clearly didn’t care if the customer was unsatisfied so be aware.
At first we wanted to sit outside because we saw several free tables and they put us in the worst of the tables right next to the garbage. We complained and they told us to go inside but with a very bad temper and very rude. In general, I do not recommend this place, because the food is normal and quite expensive, the chairs were uncomfortable and mainly because of the bad atmosphere between the waiters. Overall it is horrible.
Impeccable service, cozy ski lodge structured outdoors (thanks Cuomo), and a delicious assortment of oysters, escargot and other tapas on the menu. The scene is vibrant. This is a place to be seen and eat as people gawk at you in the cool ski lodge structure. The waitress was incredibly patient and friendly. The bottles of rose were delicious. And for once, it felt like NYC as back!Reservations highly recommended.
Very rude staff…we requested to change tables after just being seated (not yet even served water) since it was a bit windy outside and hostess rolled her eyes at the request. Place was nearly empty.Apologies for the inconvenience we posed to you…we’ll be sure to never return.
Divine Fondue! I loved it. The servers were the best. I love how New Yorkers adapt and wait tables on the street in the snow like its nothing. Chalet = shed on the street. We wine tasted and chose one...cant remember it was, a cab with a tad of spice? Our waiter was patient. Out of all the Restaurants in the square, this one was packed the whole time. We wanted to sit in the chalet, but didnt mind the complete outdoors with heaters. Try it, we are going back.
Service was good, food was good but nothing to write home about. We actually accidentally ate here thinking it was BoCaPhe but upon sitting down and looking at the menu realized we were a restaurant away but figured we might as well stay and try it. Brunch is decent but nothing special. A little overpriced if I think about it for what you get.
What is there not to love about this hip Swiss-American bistro in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Soho? Breakfast and lunch are served until 5pm, and dinner starts right thereafter. I absolutely love their Swiss-inspired plates such as Rösti with eggs, polenta, or their artichoke appetizer. Their coffees are delightful, the drinks inventive and reminiscent of Swiss flavors. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed before 5pm, but it can get super-busy later in the evening and there might be a wait time unless you have a reservation. Check out their original posters of well-known Swiss designers. The Joe Siffert poster is one of a kind and priceless. There are some other surprising decorative items that are true to Swiss ingenuity. A surprise for the visitor who can discover them! Prices are very reasonable for the super-trendy and touristy Soho neighborhood. I’m so glad that Café Select has a consistently excellent fare.
Nice little cafe to stop for lunch or a coffee. They have a small area outside to eat, like 3 tables. The interior is decorated so nicely, with touches of Swiss culture.I ordered the Caprese Sandwich (with prosciutto $3extra) with chips on the side.Portions were good, not too small ! Lovely place :)
Great food but the service is so rude that i dont want to come back here. we had a reservation and the captain was completely unwilling to work with us to get the seating we wanted even though other employees had told us earlier in the week that it would be no problem. awful customer service and completely ruined my friends birthday celebration
The menu was looking pretty good so we decided to sit there and have a quick bite. They had 4-5 available tables on the street. So, I asked to get seated there but the hostess put us somewhere in a super tight corner up against another table. There was barely any room to sit so we asked if we could get moved to an open table on the street. The hostess immediately got upset and said, “this is all we have available and youll sit where i sit you, take it or leave.” She didn’t even give us a chance to speak, turned her back on us and walked away. We were shocked that she would speak to anyone in this manner. My husband got upset and followed her inside to speak to confront her regarding her tone and manners. Of course, she starts to lie in front of her manager giving another alternate story. He didnt seem to care and didnt look like he wanted to get involved. Subsequently, we left. It was a horrible experience that we had with this place!
My girlfriend and I came here for a night out and the Raclette App was amazing! But we got the fondue and I guess they didnt cook out all of the wine in it because it had a strong alcoholic taste to it. I love cheese and I was super excited and a little sad. I will be back to try other things! But the fondue was a little meh
Small, intimate, delicious. Great ‘apres ski’ lodge bar in the back only open Friday and Saturday. (Maybe more?) tiny private dining room in the back quadrant. Great heated sidewalk seats. This is a quality Swiss inspired spot. Not the largest beer selection, but the food is right on point. I will be visiting again for sure! I went twice in my 2 week long trip.Delicious mussels, mushroom pasta, burgers, etc. For dinner.Amazing brunch - look at the photos.
We have a great experience, in general, as a late bar. Good atmosphere, good drinks and good experience with hamburger. At the end we were there in three of 14 nights. To improve: NEVER answer to the bartender if they have a specific Tequila because he´ll say you: why are you so picky. However, the host Mia and the manager are very friendly and with charisma (we loved them). They will encourage you to stay.Summary: 110% recommended
We came in with seven persons at 4:45. The online menu told us that the dinner menu is available from 4 o’clock on. We were told that the kitchen shift is at 5 o’clock. So we ordered 4 menues from the lunch menu and three from the dinner menu. The lunch menus arrived in time, but the dinner menus arrived at 5:45.The service of a young lady at the beginning was very unfriendly but the food all of them were very good. It’s such a nice restaurant but the service can be much better and the information polic also. The tapwater was never renewed.Although I gave her 20% gratuity it was not a very nice early evening. You can do much better.
My favorite Swiss restaurant in New York. There is a secret back room with only a few tables and a bar. During the winter months the back room turns into a fondue room. Try to get a reservation there if you can. The fondue is really good, but I can also recommend the zucchini chips served with a killer feta dip. For breakfast, their Bircher muesli topped with berries and fresh fruit is amazing. Remember to bring enough cash (it’s cash only).
Cool little bistro. Not a bad sized place and at lunch it wasn’t too busy. The exterior didn’t give a clue to the meat interior.Food was pretty good, slightly towards the pricey side for what you got.I went with a croque monsieur. The bread was the standout. The sandwich itself tasted good, but it really skipped on the ham and cheese filling. There was also a bechamel sauce, but the odd part was it wasn’t warm/saucy. It was kind of cooled and spread over the top of the sandwich like butter. (See in the pic) With only a side of potato chips, it was a little pricey for what you got.
The Zurich Veal was decent but the Traditional Swiss Cheese Fondue as they advertised it, was absolutely horrific and had nothing to do with Swiss cheese. It tasted more like a Pizza Margherita with Mozarella than anything else. The consistency was also terrible as the majority of the cheese was stuck as a ball in the bottom of the caquelon. Dont recommend it if you actually expect an authentic Swiss cheese fondue, cause its simply not.- Swiss guy in NY
We thought today gonna be a pleasant day to reunion with my frds at this highly rated restaurant. However,it ended with total dissatisfaction and disappointment.1) we have to wait for a while to get seated ( okey we get it) waitress were too busy. Rude waitress at the door, literally like i walked into her house without paying. Just saying if you cannot do your job just don’t be there. We pay for the money okey.2) once we seated, 2 empty glasses without water, waiter is very reluctant to give us service. Wired face wired services. And next table, ppl came after us were all well attended with water bottle. We have to asked for it at the end, and of course again we hav to wait for a long time. And they don’t care to pour us a glass. NOt even mention apologizing of not having water for us. The waiter with long hair walked away from us.3) asked for a glass of coke and end up having a glass of Ginger ale. Cool. Again, the waiter is not even apologizing for his wrong order. Instead gave me the long FACE.we are the only asian face in the entire restaurant. Did this make us different? That not even deserve a glass of water. Not sure. But clearly will nv visit again. Not recommended as well. Over priced food. RUDE service. To be honest in this restaurant no body give u service. And the owner of the restaurant I suggest you Try to treat everyone nicer. So you may be okey to asked for 22% tips at the end. You should be glad that we paid the 15% at the end.Worse experience ever. I should just go the the Jack wife’s Freda instead wasting my beautiful night in your NO SERVICE restaurant.
The service was really good, and the food was excellent. The staff was really nice and were very quick. I ate a stake with potatoes and it was really good. At first I ordered a raspberry lemonade and I didn’t like it so the server brought me another one. I totally suggest going.
Food was ok but bland. We asked for salt and pepper and they brought out a little take out container with packets of salt and pepper but they were all opened and used. Asked for more, and the second one only had one new packet, rest were used and empty. Service was good but overall wouldnt recommend.
Just had to deal with ruddest hostess I have ever interacted with. She was raising her voice at customers when we politely asking for a booked table that the system didn’t register. She was rude and dismissive. Its the least amount of power Ive ever seen go to someone’s braided head.
Very low quality in almost every sense. Upon arrival the table was being prepared for about 20 minutes, which we had to spend outside. The restaurant was clearly understaffed resulting in a very slow service, which is particularly important when you order “raclette a discretion”. The quality of food was also below average, with okay fondue (but with weird servings such as apple and carrot) and quite flavorless raclette, which in turn didnt have the usual warm potatoes served on the side. Finally, we found some objects around the room (ourdoor tent), which closely resembled mouse droppings, before finally seeing a mouse in the outdoor tent right before leaving.
Used to really love coming here for brunch / early dinner to get the Swiss yogurt on the weekends (pre-covid). Today I had a reservation- got there and was ignored for 20+ minutes as the host helped others and bussed at least 5 tables. We were told to stand outside in the cold. I understand things are tough during COVID; but how can you leave a customer outside in the cold without even asking them if they have a reservation/their name? Especially when many tables were actively being bussed and open. Absolute waste of time. Was very happy to take my business elsewhere as there are many highly rated restaurants nearby
This cafe is a nice place to pop into for lunch if you’re out in Soho. The service is friendly and the food is consistently good. My mom and I shared two sandwiches, the turkey and the mozzarella & prosciutto. Both were delicious in their own way. Our only gripe was the insanely high price for iced tea, $4 for a tiny glass mostly filled of ice... and they charge for each refill. That felt like we were getting ripped off and left us annoyed. Other than that, a great lunch.
Extremely rude and condescending customer service with a punitive, short sighted reservation policy. Due to people in my dinner party falling ill the day of the reservation and in an abundance of caution during a pandemic, we chose to cancel the reservation. While there is a cancellation policy, this restaurant is unwilling to compromise, credit or extend alternative arrangements in lieu of an exorbitant fee. As a past patron who has spent money at this restaurant, they have forever lost a customer to cash out due to a one time inconvenience.
Horrible service!!!I sat down waiting close to 20 minutes to be served. The waiter and host would walk directly pass me knowing I’ve raised my hand a couple of times. I even called out “hey, i’m ready to order”, still no eye contact but I was definitely heard. I picked up my stuff and left. Don’t want to make it a race thing but I was the only Asian wanting to dine in at that point. Never coming back.
Had to witness the manager and waitstaff berate a customer whom they accused - it turns out mistakenly - of walking out without paying at a prior occasion. This was embarrassing not only for the affected patron but to anyone else within earshot. Restaurant owners should look into the quality of the people they hire. Not a place I will be visiting again.
This charming Cafe being packed for lunch, I was directed to the counter, where service provided by the bartender was prompt attentive and very friendly. Service from the kitchen was fast and the food delicious, the wine pretty decent, the espresso correct. Couldn’t have been more satisfied, and shall visit again when in the area.
I went there with friends and had a great time. Good atmosphere and good sharing food. My favourite dishes were the burrata and fried aubergines! After dinner we went through the kitchen to a speakeasy bar on the back and drank more and ate some oysters there! Worth it!
This is such a dope little spot. It’s one of the closest experiences I’ve had to a genuine European cafe. The food is fantastic and the inside is cute as hell. I’ve had to wait at the bar a few times and the bartenders are always really great and make some wonderful cocktails.
Marta is definitely one of the best servers I’ve ever encountered. Aware of what’s going on at the table but didn’t come over every few minutes - well aware of when she was needed and showed up exactly then. She was very sweet and easygoing. The manager on the other hand seemed to be very aggressive, not customer friendly and certainly not accommodating. We waited for 25 minutes for our table and he didn’t offer a thing much less an apology. When we had an issue with a dish he refused to accommodate. He eemed very entitled - unattractive to say the least. The food was great! Dessert less so (tried 4 of them).
My only complaints, is that their cold hot chocolate is basically what youd expect from a diner, and their lobster BLT didnt need that third layer of bread. Other than that, great! Atmosphere was fantastic, and the fairy lights were so cute. Music was low enough you could have a conversation.
Both the bartender and hostess were very accommodating; however, their manager wouldn’t let me sit down at a table even though I ordered one of the more expensive wines for me and my girlfriend. His/her reasoning was because we wouldn’t order food - I even mentioned I would leave after we finished our drinks.Do better for the reasonable consumer. I was there January 14th 2018
Nice atmosphere (partial due to the fanatic Danish fans that were watching the 2018 world cup)i taught the new guy how to make a cortado and he did pretty well. yall should put cortados on the menu and pull yr shots ristretto. ur good at coffee but those long italian shots are just watery as hell Awesome. Rashad is the greatest bartender to have ever lived. Watching that man pour beer and make drinks was like watching Bob Ross paint a lake by a mountain. I love the Mediterranean ambiance - best thing about the place. The food and drinks are quite yummy as well. Service leaves something to be desired. Great, lively atmosphere! Always fun place to go for bite to eat or just cocktails! Fun people people watching and friendly staff. Both the bartender and hostess were very accommodating; however, their manager wouldn’t let me sit down at a table even though I ordered one of the more expensive wines for me and my girlfriend. A handy translator for the menu: Brioche = English muffin Prosciutto = Ham Medium rare = charred exterior Nice place and a perfect atention yo costumers Always a happening spot. Watch out on rainy days... it may be hard to get a table! Staff is well versed on all menus, cocktails are classic and delicious, and the secret spot-- well-- Ill let you try to find it. 😉 Small and delicious. Cafe Select has that subtle French nonchalance. +1 star for the stylish feel +1 star for the delicious food (hello, burrata!) +1 star for the sweet waitstaff +1 star for the wine options +1 star for the outdoor people watching -1 star for the lack of A/C, its hot! Enormous wait time for what essentially is just melted cheese. Unlimited dipping bread but good luck getting a refill on anything. Stumbled upon this place, the food was very delicious ! Fondue was very authenic. I enjoyed this place and will come back!Even when its crowded, its never too loud. Cool place, great ambiance, good prices. Found randomly, would totally recommend. Anthony is a great and proffesional bartender. He handled 3 drunken guys (me and 2 friends) with a great smile. Great experience.
Casual, laid back ambience with a reasonable selection of wines. Some nice Swiss dishes - really liked the bratwurst over a giant hash brown. Avocado toasts were nice. Service was a bit all over the place with multiple people serving our table, though friendly and responsive.
Omg, yes! Have been wanting to go here for so long, and finally went with friends.First of all, this place is so super cozy and brought me back to a mountain chalet vibe straight away. We ordered the classic fondue (~$26/pp, and min. 2 ppl) with a couple of sides and bottles of wine, everything was delicious and very affordable. Can’t wait to go back!
This restaurant is inspired by Swiss train stations so the food is a mixture of French, German, and Italian dishes. I came here for brunch on a Sunday. The service was attentive and friendly. It was a lot emptier than Jacks Wife Freda which was nearby. I wasnt very hungry so I got the lobster bisque and my friend got the pancakes. The lobster bisque and the pancakes were both very tasty. The lobster bisque was cute since it had a puff pastry lobster on top. Ill be back to try other dishes when I have an appetite.
Cafe select is more like cafe select few since there are such few options. Also, apparently a salad is a bowl of vegetables with a block of cheese on top. I’m giving this place 2 stars for the ambiance. The food is ridiculous and overpriced. If I wanted a bowl of vegetables I’d make it at home. I’m leaving hungry and shocked. Not a single piece of lettuce In the salad.
Went there for lunch after being recommended from a friend. Burger was average, cafe select bowl included undercooked/raw salmon, over ripe tomatoes and a horrible salad dressing. Aperol Spritz’s were equally disappointing. We wanted to love this place but unfortunately left extremely disappointed and wishing we had of waited in line for the place next door (jacks wide freida).
There is something that makes Cafe Select a really special place. The staff is extremely pleasant and accommodating, the food and drinks are consistent and the atmosphere is what youd expect in a cafe in France. Have a seat outside, a beverage and a bite and enjoy all the great people watching in one of the best corners of NYC
Very popular Swiss-theme restaurant. The food menu is decent and they have good drinks, including mulled-wine for part of the winter. I love their hanger steak (bavette). Theres a secret, but I wont tell you the secret, unfortunately, youll have to find out some other way...
I was really surprise about this restaurant. It has good rates but honestly I was very disappointed! The fondue was really not good at all and expensive ... The bread was old and not tasty. For the desert we ordered the hot brownie and it was frozen in the inside. We told the kitchen and they resend us a new cake, frozen a second time !!! This is really bad !Also, the waitress was really bad advice for advice : wine, fondue etc...
Had a terrible experience here. We waited outside wanting to be seated but the waitress pretended like she didn’t see us. So we walked into the restaurant and sat ourselves down and waited for service- Then another couple of people walked in and they seated them and gave them menus. Most awful experience I have ever had with any cafe so we just walked out.
Too expensive for raclette and its not what I expected, I expected a sack of potatoes and lots of cheese and cornichons and some saucisson (the Swiss / French way) and they give you only one tiny potato and a slice of cheese and two cornichons... Cmon am I going to eat this without meat, cornichons or at least a bigger potato? Wasnt worth it for 29 usd. Also they gave us the smallest table for three people.
Met with a BFF out here when we were visiting Manhattan. As someone who hasnt really experienced the nightlife in NYC outside of movies, this is the kind of place that I would think major plot points of romantic comedies would go down. That being said; Its such a cool vibe from the menu, to the staff and the decor. It really seems like a place I can be a regular at within a few times of stopping by mainly because the bartenders were very friendly and easy to strike up a conversation with.Unfortunately we didnt get to try out any food but the drinks were spot on. Id have to come back in the neat future.
Happy Hour wasnt correctly advertised so getting there and finding that out was not the greatest surprise. The Jack Daniels chicken was very good it was the first item on the top left corner of the Jack Daniels items page. Garlic fries were sitting in a base of oil which made all of the fries on the bottom very oily and inedible. Not worth it for the regular prices but for happy hour I would come back.
Good food. Ok, efficient service. Zucchini chips were thinly sliced and perfectly fried. Burrata was on point, no drama. Spatzle was delicious, had the mushroom one. Great texture and flavor; maybe a touch salty, but Ill take it. The kind of place Id go back to but not immediately... 4.5 stars if I could.
We had a very VERY bad experience at this place. Avoid.1) We couldnt order the real raclette (where they bring a machine at your table) because we were not seating at the right table (what does that even mean?? No power outlet close by apparently). And we had made a reservation!2) So we went for the option where they bring a plate of cheese at the table (a plate with 2 pieces of cheese - eaten in like 5min). It also comes with potatoes, pickles and onions. You can *in theory* order as much as you want (it is unlimited). It took them FOREVER to bring the next round of cheese. So when they brought the second round, we immediately ordered the 3rd round (hoping we wouldnt have to wait that much). We waited EVEN MORE. Cannot remember the last time I waited that much for food.3) This Raclette plate comes with 3 ridiculous pieces of potatoes. So we ordered 2 bowls of potatoes for the table. THEY CHARGED US FOR THE POTATOES!!! Even if the raclette option had unlimited cheese, potatoes, etc.4) They wouldnt take our Amex cards even tough it was written on the menu that they accept them (we checked before coming and when they brought the menu, IT WAS WRITTEN ON IT). Our waiter naturally said oh, we changed the menu 2 weeks ago. Im sure you have other cards. Lol.
Cute and cozy place... nice staff and service was great and friendly... trendy and satisfying food... a bit on the loud side but a fun chill spot for friends to meet or catch up on with food and drinks... nice Brunch menu with Oysters and small bites... Coffee and Chicken #snitzel, Smoked Salmon...
Terrible service. We were asked to leave because we didn’t order a main (even though we were ordering drinks, an appetiser and a dessert) because they wanted to give the table to someone that was “waiting” and hungry enough. Spoiler alert: there was nobody waiting. And nobody should anyway.
Fun for a group dinner before going out. Yes: burrata, heirloom tomato, prosciutto salad, flank steak, bruschetta. No: pork chop, schnitzel, lobster bisque. Wine is reasonably priced and its possible to get a bottle for ~$35. Good location as well especially if you are going out downtown. Dont forget to check out the secret bar in the back which can be great for holding a low key birthday party with some close friends!
We had a very pleasant brunch at Cafe Select, a cute cafe with European ambiance, friendly service, good music, more options than your typical Eggs Benedict, and no ridiculous lines like its neighbor. Rosti Norwegian comes with interesting herb sour cream, Fried Halloumi has perfect poached eggs paired with tomato relish, both hearty and savory. Our waitress recommended a side order of sptzli with mushroom sauce, OMG heavenly buttery smell of slightly fried egg pasta... I have to stop counting calorie
I love the food there, They have some special German dishes that are just awesome. I always eat their spatzle , which are special german noodles, and they have it with mushrooms. Also as an appetizer I really recommend the zucchini chips. The place has a very cool design, and I love whet they did with their ceiling
Small and delicious. Cafe Select has that subtle French nonchalance.+1 star for the stylish feel+1 star for the delicious food (hello, burrata!)+1 star for the sweet waitstaff+1 star for the wine options+1 star for the outdoor people watching-1 star for the lack of A/C, its hot!
What can I say? I never heard of the Cafe Select until a business associate invited me to come down from The Bronx (Im a Native NYer) for a meeting. Very Cool Place to have a meal or just have a drink and chill. Next time Im in SOHO, Cafe Select will be on the top of my list of stops.#SALUTE
My favorite place in soho to sit and people watch and nurse on some rose. Havent really eaten anything but the quinoa salad. But the vibe, atmosphere and people watching factor keep me comming back. Will have to try other things on their menu as I am sure they hit the spot.
On of my favorite places in the city, friendly staff, great food and drinks, and perfect location on Lafayette - across from a tiny park and traffic moving slowly and with thankfully reduced noise level, lots of birds in the sky, dogs passing, and interesting people to watch all around. And..wait fr it...THEY HAVE BLANKETS! Yes, thats right, army-grade wool blankets for us crazies who insist on sitting outside even when it is below freezing :) Why other sidewalk-cafe places do not offer this I dont know. Anyway, this is my secret winter outdoor place but dont tell anyone... ;-)
I never beeing in a such a rude Place... The waitress ... That look like something else... Modify the real from price list... And when i realized that She called me Hass*****le and walk away.... Dont go there!!!!! NeverWorst food.... worst Service49 dollars foto 2 EGGS and baikonSuggestion to waitress and waiter/barman.... GET A DIFFENTE JOB.
Dirt cheap dim sum that is rarely crowded compared to JingFong or Golden Unicorn but is still extremely workable. Very few non Chinese go here but it is comparable in quality to the standards. I would go here before the LES post-college crowd figure out that there is a dim sum restaurant right underneath the Manhattan bridge. :)No particular dishes are special here, but their zha leong (fried dough in rice noodle) is pretty good compared to Golden Unicorn, whose version tends to lack crunch.
Inspired by Swiss train station restaurants, Cafe Select is a lovely place to get a low-key meal in SoHo. Love brunch here -- favorites are the Swiss Eggs Benedict (on Zopf bread), rösti swiss hash browns and müesli pancakes with blackberry compote and vanilla sweet butter. The bratwurst is good, too, and the kitchen is open late :) Dont forget to sweet-talk your way into the hidden backroom bar: walk through the kitchen or go down to the basement stairs entrance (from the sidewalk).

2022-01-30Food is fine. The service however is simply rude, not good, they are a bit stuck up. I believe they don’t want tourists in their local. Twice we went there and treated us like if we’re out of place or bothering at the door with our tourist appearance (thick coat and carrying a bag on my back…). The girl at the door is simply stupid… I don’t recommend this place.I give 2 stars because the food is not bad and the young girl who served our food was nice (I bet she was new there…).

2022-07-02Loved this place. We wanted a place to eat a Friday night at 11.30pm, luckily Cafe Select was open and serving food till 1am!They had a table available. Ambience was nice, full of young people, good music. We had a bottle of white wine, the raclette, a burger and hash browns. Raclette was amazing! The truffle burger was great too! Really juicy! One of the bust burgers I had in NY!The hash brown was bad. Had no taste and was completely overcooked. The waiter gave us 2 espresso martini as gift just because the barman made too extra. They were GREAT! Great service too! Price was really good for the food. All that for nearly $50 (not considering the wine or service).Definitely will come back!

2022-05-18Pleasant outside patio atmosphere. Really nice location to grab a drink late night, unfortunately my first drink was pretty poorly made, but our waiter did a quick swap for a beer and I was happy. I’d stay away from their margaritas.

2021-12-24We had the Catalan shrimp for appetizer, herb and classic fondue for dinner, and the apples strudel and toasted almond gelato for dessert. The shrimp appetizer had the most incredible complex and satisfying tastes - I wanted more and more. The fondue was fun and delicious, plenty of food for the four of us! The ambience is cozy and fun. The COVID precautions are great with frequent sanitizing. Highly recommend visiting Cafe Select, their great food, and friendly and helpful staff.

2022-05-14Sitting at the sidewalk table outside had always been a favorite spot for a wine and catch up. It makes for a fun brunch but I prefer the happy hour wine time. Order some cheese, charcuterie, zucchini fries… and it’s a great accompaniment to whatever banter is happening at our table.

2022-03-19Pretty great spot!! The ambiance is by far the best part, and the burger was great!! The service was a little inattentive BUT the only reason for this was because there were only about three waiters working the entire place, so this is management’s fault if anything and not at all the staff.

2021-10-02We arrived at 9:25 for our 9:30 reservation that we specifically made indoors and we were seated at 9:50 outside because there were no reserved tables on the inside, even though we called twice to confirm that it was inside. We ordered a bit before 10 PM and our food arrived an hour and 15 minutes later - our dishes were cold. The truffle infused burger could have been any other burger I’ve eaten in my life - it was definitely overpriced. The two things that I ate that were surprisingly great were the zucchini chips and the espresso martini. The place itself is very pretty and well decorated, the music is also good.

2021-11-23Great cafe for a drink or a meal. We were in a hurry to grab a drink with friends before we parted for an event and the server was very accommodating. They brought us shots of Los Vecinos Mezcal and we celebrated, took the shots, paid and left all within 10 minutes. Part of the group stayed back for food and more drinks and they continued to have a good time there. Ill definitely visit again when I am back in NY!
