We engaged California Closets to redesign my husbands cramped (45 wide) clothes closet, and they did a terrific job. They installed two hanging rods and plenty of shelf space. Installation was done on time, fast, and very professionally. Our designer/account person, Stacy Skolsky, was attentive and a pleasure to work with. Were very pleased!
I worked with Alyssa from CC who was wonderful! My new closets are fantastic ( two large walk-in’s and one smaller reach in) The quality of the materials is great, the construction sturdy and her ideas were fantastic. She was a pleasure to work with and I’d recommend California Closets ( and Alyssa) to anyone who wants to make an investment in their precious NYC closet space.
California Closets came to dismantle what was currently in my closets and painted the space in one day and the next day installed the design that was discussed and created. I am very happy with the results. The entire project was professional, neat and on time. I would not hesitate to recommend this entire team.
We built two new walk-in closets and used California Closets to design the spaces with dressers, shelves and room for hanging clothing. Our design consultant, Marie Zeek, was fabulous. She listened, understood our needs, and designed closets that would work for us. The installers also did a great job. Im thrilled with our new closets!
The whole team did an amazing job. From the first call to inquire about services to the installation, everyone was so respectful and attentive. I recommend them to family and friends all the time. The two units we designed look fantastic and match our style perfectly.
Our designer Graziella Bullaro was terrific! Not only were her designs elegant and easy to understand, she was also open to our needs and listened well and tried her best to accommodate them. She is quick and responsive and gives extra detailed instructions to make sure the process went smoothly. We ended up with a walk-in closet we absolutely adore and are looking to get more built-ins projects done with her for our new apartment. The quality of the materials are solid and beautiful. The installation workers were unfortunately not the most accommodating but in the end we worked out the issues. I recommend California Closets as they are very professional and offer competitive pricing.
We worked with Lorin Lau from CC. She was very responsive and professional, and was able to work with our budget and limited space. Our custom built wardrobe is great. The installation team was fast and careful. Post installation support was great too, we had to get them to come back in and secure one of the bars in the closet. We had zoom meetings, on site measurements, and Lorin is organized and documented all our changes and communicated the pros/cons of each material, color, and showed us pictures of actual installs to make sure we were comfortable with what we selected.
My designer Norma Zagreda was amazing ! Words cant even explain. I let her take the lead and my closets are a dream come true ! She always got back to me in a timely fashion. Her customer service is excellent ! And she checked in after everything was done . Best thing I did in my apt !The workers were amazing also !
From my initial measuring/design consult with Marilena Viscogliosi to the final install appointment, everyone involved in the process was professional, informative and delivered exactly what was expected. Marilena stayed in contact with me throughout the process, and when changes were requested to initial quote and drawings, she delivered revisions promptly and proficiently. As an Interior Designer it is imperative I deliver product to my clients in a timely and cost-effective manner, and Marilena helped me do that tenfold. I cant wait to do business with her again!
California Closets visited my apartment, took measurements, and helped me design a custom bedroom closet. Installation went smoothly, and Im very happy with the finished product. I recommend them highly.
Husband not overall happy with his space; California closet could have done other things in the design to make the closet a better fit for me and husband. I was told certain things would not work but now can see that it would have worked. Wish I pushed harder for those design changes.
I was very satisfied with the product and installation. The design experience was not good and I should have asked for a different designer when I found the first one to be indifferent to working with me on a design. He was not helpful, not creative and did not have strong customer service skills. He ruined the experience with his approach. I would rate him a 2, All other aspects I would give a 5.
Marilena was a pleasure to work with and designed the perfect closet for us. The installers were fantastic, showed up on time, were careful and left the job site clean. Highly recommend looking up Marilena to help you for whatever closet needs you have.

We built a first floor master bedroom addition and had California Closets do the closet. The process was seamless from start to finish (even during a pandemic). Our designer, Marilena was personable, well spoken, knowledgeable, patient and listened to our needs. The wait time for the installation was acceptable and the product was delivered when they said. The installation went off without a glitch. Ariel and Matthew were immaculate, respectful, friendly, gave us a complete run through of all the features and answered all of our questions. We are happy customers!!!
California Closets came into my home and designed a custom closet system for a new closet. It came out really well. The product looks beautiful and is very functional as well as versatile. Maria Castro was an excellent salesperson. She assisted with the closet design and helped us through the process. When we had delays in the renovation project she was accommodating and revised the installation date several times.Maria was our contact with California Closets and she was a please to work with.

The painting job was poorly done-- we paid $1900 for it. First they removed the old closets, and fixed the damaged walls with some compound. They were supposed to apply two coats. They didnt let the paint dry in between, and they didnt prime the compound. As a result, the following day when I came back from work, I noticed that the paint was peeling everywhere, the walls were not white, and the ceiling was stained. The next day, they were supposed to install the closets. The entire night before (until 3 am), I tried to fix the walls and I repainted both closets and ceilings, hoping that the paint would not peel again on the compound (it peeled again because I didnt prime the compound). The painters came back early, and they finally did prime, but only because I asked them to.To be honest, I am very disappointed in the company, which I thought was one of the best. I waited all week to hear from the company, to apologize or to have the decency to refund half of the paint charge, but to date nobody has contacted me. Half of the job was done poorly, and it created an unnecessarily stressful situation for us. I would have given 1 star if it wasnt for the professionalism of the closet installers and Melissa, the designer.
I got my wife an updated walk in closet as a push present, it was installed today and she couldn’t be happier.Susan Medaglia was the designer and she was excellent. She measured every aspect of the closet and coordinated it with the shoes/boots, the height of her dresses, and her purse collection. She worked within the budget and corresponded frequently for updates and revisions.The installation team was punctual, professional, and courteous. They wore their masks throughout our home, were friendly to our dog, and cleaned up the mess left behind from the installation.I would definitely recommend them. It was a headache free experience and my wife has a beautiful closet that will definitely add to the resale value of our home.

We went to California Closets to have our bedroom closets redesigned to better suit our storage needs. Designer Marilena Viscogliosi came over to work with us on the layout. She was great. Friendly, helpful, understanding and quite patient with us trying to figure out what we wanted and needed. She spent plenty of time with us and had some really helpful suggestions. After she left she sent us a drawing of the 2 different designs for each of the closets for our approval and was so accommodating when we wanted to make some changes to them. The new designs work very well and it was nice that Marilena called and emailed me to check on how everything was working out for us. I would recommend California Closets to anyone who needs to update or design their closets and if you can request to have Marilena come over to help you solve or improve your storage needs.

Cal closets absolutely exceeded my expectations from the day they walked in my front door to the day installation was complete. I hired them to build me out a laundry room that was essentially just an empty room with a washer/dryer and no shelving or storage. They provided top notch service and I can’t wait to use them again! I was really impressed with entire experience. The closets turned out exactly as I had imagined. Most surprisingly was the cost. I had been told calufornia closets were ridiculously expensive, however with the 2 other quotes I got from contractors, California closets was almost half the price! Really pleased with finished product and the professionalism of the installers.

Had a really great experience designing my closet with Keith. It was an extremely easy process - Keith did a great job of taking my comments and bringing them to life via a virtual zoom design meeting. He then followed up with an in person meeting to confirm the measurements and make any adjustments. I have a small closet and wanted a place where I could easily access shoes/purses and clothes. Now everything is organized! Highly recommend!

My brilliant designer
I contacted California Closet and a designer visited me within a week.Allyshia suggested many good ideas for the design of my closet. I placed the order in February 2020 unaware of an impending global pandemic. I waited and waited patiently for my closet. Finally they contacted me to confirm the installation date. The technicians were professionals and polite. After 2 hours the job was completed. My new wall-wall closet was amazing, as if I had dreamed it. I’m thinking of building another closet and I will definitely call California Closet. Almost forgot: their prices may seem steep but you’ll be glad you spent the money.
My experience was extremely positive.From the sales professional who came to my home and heard all my needs and then laid out the diagram.To the follow up on delivery and then the install. The guys were on time, they cleaned up after themselves and removed all the garbage after the installed of the closet.

2022-02-12I live in Queens, NY in an apartment with a lot of new occupants as its a new development. Cali Closets actually had a dedicated designer for my building (Debra) that we could work with directly. This was really great since Debra was already familiar with the existing finishings provided by the building and the consultation process was pretty quick when she came by.We were referred by a friend who already bought in our building and had done a lot of research on other custom closets, and was pretty happy with Cali Closets.Theres been a lot of delays due to Covid cancellations, and were on the lucky side with getting both a consult and my closets done a lot faster than most people.We was able to get my consultation end of Nov 2021 from calling in Oct 2021 (had travel plans and couldve actually had the consultation earlier). It was overwhelming before the consultation considering that the Cali Closets website mainly displays custom closets for large homes, whereas we were just designing for a 2BR with 4 closets. Debra came in and had some ideas for closet designs that were common given our space and we made adjustments based on what we thought would be main use cases of each closet. This made the process really stress-free. I paid my 50% deposit on the day of consultation - it was around $6k for 4 closets in a 985 sqft 2BR. Note - obviously this will differ per person based on their design and finishing but hopefully this will help give a ballpark for people.In terms of colors/finishings, she had some samples but had recommended us to check out the showroom in Tribeca. Going there was really helpful in seeing the finish in person and grabbing more samples. We were able to stretch our imagination from there. After confirming the colors/finishings, Debra quickly sent us the updated pricings (as I had some tweaks here and there).The installation date was originally going to be mid Jan 2022. Our move in date was early Dec, so this was not super ideal. Debra was able to offer some rolling closet racks for us that have been held in our building valet to use in the meantime until the contractors could come in, but mentioned when there are cancellations, she could call to reschedule and book us for earlier.Luckily, we were actually able to get the contractors to come in on our moving date. This was really quite a miracle too because the closets were built and finished before the movers arrived to our new apartment, this worked perfectly as we never needed to use the rolling closet racks.So far we are loving the closets, they match the rest of the finishings in our apartment. Its very functional and high quality. I am so glad we went with Cali Closets and I highly recommend them to people who want a permanent solution for closet design.

2021-12-11I couldnt be happier with the quality of my custom made cabinets. From the start of the project, when Megan Garcia came to our place and advised on the best solutions given our space, to the final installation, the process has been smooth, professional and headache-free. With the new cabinets installed, it feels like a whole new apartment. Very grateful to everyone at California Closets for their professionalism and exacting standards. I cant imagine using another company for future projects.

2022-07-13We had a wonderful experience with California Closet from start to finish. We had a master bedroom closet and a hallway closet done. They are professional, responsive and great value for the quality. We also had a change of heart after our master closet was installed. We wanted to get a key for the jewelry drawer which was not in the original design. They kindly replaced the drawer face and the shelf above free of charge. I really appreciated the customer oriented service. I would use them again in a heart beat.

2022-07-09The space chosen for my bedroom closet was assessed, measured, and designed to accommodate my wardrobe needs by CALIFORNIA CLOSETS: A window seat with storage space underneath was designed to fit neatly between the closet design. After the measurements had been taken, the design was formed with its dimensions and shown to me for approval. Upon my approval, the pricing was included and a copy of the design and the contract were emailed for me to sign at my discretion.After receiving the contract and reviewing the design, I signed the contract and a date was agreed on for the installation.The closet was installed by two workers who came with all parts measured, cut, and installed with ease and no mess. I was impressed by the professionalism of the workmen--so impressed that I called CALIFORNIA CLOSETS and Kathie Nagji to design a work apace that included a desk, shelves, and file cabinets neatly tucked in another space that left my living/dining area uncluttered and blending-in with all else in the room.Thanks CALIFORNIA CLOSETS for leaving me better organized and truly satisfied with your business acumen and craftsmanship.

Now I can have everything I need in one area, organized and easy to access. Marie did a great job designing the closet for me. 2022-03-12California Closets was a dream to work with. They make it really easy to customize closets (and other furniture solutions) to your needs. It was really great to work with a designer on this to make sure we were getting exactly what was needed for the space. The designer brought ideas to the table that we wouldnt even think of (because were not experts, they are!). The installation process was also super smooth and easy. Definitely worth the price & would totally do it again if we had more space!!
