Cameo Kennels is the best kennel we have ever used. The dogs spend most of their time outside socializing with other dogs. There is always someone watching the dogs, and they are very careful to watch personality types to make sure everyone is completely safe and having fun! Our dog can have some digestive issues when his routine changes, and they have been wonderful working with us to find the best solution for him - their idea of rice and pumpkin added to his diet has worked wonders! When my father went into the hospital, and we needed last minute dog care, Stephanie took our dog with no question even though she had her hands full! We absolutely love this kennel and have the utmost respect for Stephanie and how well she takes care of the dogs in her charge.
My dog had a horrible experience here. I have had him in a day care prior to this experience, and had always left cheerful. I was considering their boarding for two nights, thank god I decided to have him try it out first. At first impression, I waited awhile to even have someone acknowledge our presence. So after work, I picked up my dog and I have never seen him so terrified in my life. He was making these cries I have never heard before. The girl said, “he had a good day, thanks for coming!” He also had the worst time walking to my car, his feet were so sore. When I brought him home, he drank two days worth of water. He must have been given any water, or they were not attentive enough to notice. I don’t know how this place gets so many good reviews?? Maybe because he has been to a far better daycare so my expectations are higher? Now my dog goes to K-9 Camp and LOVES it, he can’t wait to get out of the car and sleeps for a good 12 hours straight when he comes home. No issues with his feet or not drinking water while he is there.
The disgruntled employee that generated the negative reviews shown, should in no way influence your choice for this business. We have 2 cats that have been kenneled at more than one local business when we had to travel. Until we found Steph they would always come home stressed, ill and in need of cleaning. The experience we have had at Cameo is totally different. The cats dont even seem to mind going for a visit. The love and respect shown our pets is evident the moment you enter the Office. Spend just a few minutes with the owner, Stephanie and you will understand what Im saying. All the animals there are treated as if they were her own. My son and daughter both leave their dogs at Cameo when they have to travel also. Cameo Kennels definitely deserves the highest rating.
I have boarded my dog with these guys many times over the past 3 years. She is always excited when I drop her off, and she is still happy when I pick her up. I know she is well cared for while I am away. They give wonderful daily write ups about her day while she is with them, what she does, and which other dogs she enjoys playing with. My neighbor recommended this place years ago, and I am so glad that she did!
This place is very unprofessional. My husband and I took our dog here for a meet and greet before we were going to let her stay for day care. Im so glad we did because now I would never trust these people to look after her or anyones pet for that matter. There were only 2 people working and we had an appointment for the meet and greet. Once we arrived, there was another dog in the office left unattended and it growled and bit at my dog! When someone finally walked into the office they demanded we come inside and shut the door because it was cold outside and she had kittens being kennelled inside. I would not bring my dog inside with another that clearly was aggravated. The owner was very rude and said she had a meeting and that we would have to reschedule, after we had already scheduled a meeting with her. We left immediately after that. NEVER TAKE YOUR PETS HERE IF YOU VALUE THEM BEING TREATED WITH LOVE AND RESPECT.
For what its worth, Ive been behind the scenes of doggy daycares nationwide, helping staff with various needs of the dogs, and I can say without a doubt that this daycare is top notch. This place ensures every animal has a neatly made bed to lay in, clean crates, clean housing environment, and structured play. It seems like as a standard operating policy of this business, that the care of these pets and their care/needs come first. Stephanie does a remarkable job at ensuring the play/socialization doesnt get too intense so all the dogs can remain happy and safe. The most surefire way a disgruntled past employee or customer who didnt get their way can get peoples attention is with a 1-star review and throwing the word abuse around, but this woman puts the needs and care for your pet above anything else. She doesnt sugar coat, and shes direct, which is refreshing in my opinion. 5 stars across the board.
Im not quite sure how this place has received low ratings. I used to bring my beloved german shepherd here when we went on vacations, so 7-9 days at a time at least once a year. My Ruby loved this place which made us so comfortable leaving her here. The owner Stephanie is kind, courteous, professional, and she loves your pet as if it were her own. I highly reccomend boarding your family member here.
My impression is that the owner and staff really like dogs. Coupled with the combination of doggie day care and boarding means that when your pet stays here you dont have to feel sorry that the dog is cooped up all day in a cage. Instead they are pretty much on their own vacation. I recommend them highly.
We have been bringing our furry family member to Cameo Kennels for nearly 4 years, both for doggy day care and overnight stays, and they have been truly wonderful to him and to us. Always kind and professional at the same time. I would highly recommend Cameo Kennels to anyone looking for the same experience.
When we go on vacation, weve been boarded our Siamese and Egyptian Mau cats here for the past few years. They have very spacious cages, located in an area where they can get some human interaction. We have been very pleased with the care and cleanliness, as well as the attitude and interest of the owner and staff. I highly recommend Cameo Kennels.
Horrible customer service. Dog was injured there after owner clearly stated to exercise her dog on grass due to dog having sensitive feet. The kennel owner didnt listen now the dog has horrible sores all over feet. Also the kennel owner refused to give deposits back for up coming months even after saying she would. NEVER TAKE YOUR PET HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEIR WELL BEING.
If I could leave less than one star I would we walked our dog in and my dog was instantly bit by another dog was unable to even find the place let alone talk to the owner there is 1 person working here....how can you expect to watch all the dogs? Do not bring your pet here!! Also lady who met us at the front desk was extremely rude worst experience that I could have possibly had

2019-06-02We did 1 night, then a week later 3 night stay for 2 dogs. They came home happy, clean and healthy. Allowed them to stay and play together. Tried play time with others but our female was to protective of our male. Both are large dogs. Especially like Sunday late pick up times (4-7 PM)

2017-05-09My dog was brought to Cameo at the end of April. At the time of drop off I specifically asked Stephanie to let him play on the grass, he has very sensitive feet. When I picked him up on Sunday right away I knew something was wrong with him. By the time I got home, he wouldnt get out of the car and wouldnt walk. Two days I spent carrying him in and out of the house to go outside. His feet were very red and raw and clearly he was in a lot of pain. I was very concerned and took him to my vets. I made her aware of the situation...her response he has candy paws and if I cant get his feet callused by the time he needs to be boarded again in July, then he shouldnt come here anymore. Nice response isnt it? What kind of human being responds like that??? In addition, I was promised my deposit back, which I am told today, she is not refunding because I put a bad review on FB and my deposit is being put toward hiring a lawyer. Since when is it against the law to post a bad review?? I believe people need to be aware of how she runs her business and the lack of concern she has for my pet.

2020-12-03We have had our three house cats board at Cameo several times now. Stephanie and her staff are excellent. The facilities are clean, beautiful, and set attractively back away from busy roads. Will definitely continue to use Cameo! Wonderful experience each time. Highly recommend!

2021-01-06A great place for dogs to have fun and make friends and the cats are well cared for during their visits. Everyone is super friendly, I enjoyed working for the owner she’s very knowledgeable and caring about each and every animal that is in her care. I wouldn’t take my pets anywhere else. Such a great and safe place for dogs to play and make friends.

2019-01-20My dog has been going to Cameo Kennels for both boarding and daycare for nearly three years. She always gets great care and loves it there. On daycare days, I just say we are going to see Stephanie today and she gets so excited. Over the past 30 years I have always had at least one dog and have used many kennels. Cameo is by far the cleanest we have ever used. We can tell the owner genuinely loves all the fur babies that she cares for. I would highly recommend Cameo Kennels.

2020-10-26I have a very active dog who LOVES her time at Cameo! She visits twice a week and gets super excited as soon as we turn in the driveway. Shes so happy to see Stephanie and her staff every time she goes. I know she plays hard because shes usually asleep before we pull out of the driveway!

2020-10-29I have been taking my German Shepherd Dog to Cameo for almost 7 years. I believe we were one of Stephanies first customers. My dog was not well socialized when we got him, but he has grown and learned as a result of going to Cameo. My guy attends day care once per week on a regular basis, and he has stayed for up to a week many times over the years. He loves going to Cameo! He starts getting excited as soon as we get to the corner of Rt. 31 because he knows where he is going.Personally and professionally, I cannot speak highly enough of Stephanie. She has taken Banner on short notice, she graciously worked with us when my husband lost his job so that Banner could remain socialized, she has brought in trainers at different times, and I trust her without hesitation with my dog!

2019-02-10I have boarded my dogs at other kennels and they were well cared for but my older dog would never eat and was very shy with everyone. I had to take a last minute trip across country and Stephanie was able to board my dogs short notice. When I picked my dogs up from Cameo, my old dog looked fantastic and obviously was eating. She was also in very good spirits and was comfortable around all the employees. I would absolutely board my dogs there again.

2019-01-25As a previous employee of cameo kennels I do not understand how people are rating her one star. She is by far the best daycare/boarding facility I have been in or worked for. She puts the needs and well being of the animals above anything else and does everything in her power to assure the animals are always safe and well taken care of. The facility is the cleanest I’ve been in and the enployees are all trained very well. Is she strict on things? Yes, BUT that’s why her business is run so well. The dogs love being at the daycare and most do not want to leave when it’s time to go! I would still be working there if I didn’t move an hour away, but unfortunately life happens and some things you can’t control. Don’t let these negative Nancy’s and lies of one star reviews stop you from bringing your pet to it’s home away from home. :)
