This place has been here along time. Great place to meet after work, great place for a first date & not a bad place to meet someone nice. The food has always been the best. Nice Mexican old style look inside. Good prices, what more can you want. The people working there are very attentive which I like. But the one thing that keeps me coming back is their frozen Margaritas. Truly I havent had any better & its a favorite summer drink of mine.
This is a great lunch place. Very affordable lunch special which comes with a drink 🥃 you can’t go wrong! Great bartenders like Eduardo and Jean Franco make it extra special they never forget your name or your Oder!!!! Also great for happy hour they offer $5 margaritas yummy!!!! And a bar menu just in case you get the munchies. My fave for the lunch especially is the taco salad and the enchiladas.
This has to be one of the best, if not the best Spanish/Mexican restaurants that I’ve ever been too. Hands down the food is absolutely mind blowing and very fresh. The sangria and margaritas are great; they’re not cheap on the alcohol either... if you’re in the area or just looking for a great place, I implore you to check it out. The ambience is great as well. It’s a good time all around .
This place is great. The food is amazing authentic Mexican cuisine. The staff are very friendly and polite and the restaurant itself seems very clean. The drinks are well made and not overpriced either. I would really recommend this place for a happy hour venture with coworkers if you happen to be in midtown New York.
My favorite food is Mexican and so stopped in to try this this restaurant out on Friday December 7th. We waited over one hour to be served and it was not a crowded night. My company and I made no complaints. We finally received our food and my burrito was filled with fatty wirey steak. I spit out piece after piece and returned it to my plate. I thought maybe not all of the burrito is like this but actually it was. I ate an exceptionally small amount and when it was time for the check I asked if my dish could be replaced or cooked more thoroughly. The manger said there was nothing he could do for me. WOW, my friend spent $100 or more and left a rather nice tip. To be told theres nothing you can do for an unsatisfied customer is ridiculous. Especially after waiting so long to be served. Even McDonalds can do better than that. I highly recommend not eating at this establishment as there seems to be some hidden issue...maybe race?
The food was really decent and a great price (for the area). Service was friendly. I had Chicken California, and I asked for some changes which was made as ordered. The decor was a bit cliché. My friend had chicken quesadillas, which were done with cheese toasted over the top which is different and turned out really good.
First time visiting. Very friendly. Moderately busy Tuesday night but didn’t have to wait for a table. No draft beer but good selection in bottles. I had the Mexican steak. They cooked it right and it was delicious! Chunky salsa for the chips, with a lil kick; tasty! My wife had the vegetable burrito and the accommodated her requests with no hiccups. Food came out very quickly. Music at the back was not loud so we could chat. Decor is rather plain but that’s ok in my book; it should be about the food. Food was spot on and pricing was fair. I would go back, no doubt.
Ordered the steak wrapped in a tortilla with rice and the steak was missing the jalapenos and the onions as well as some of the seasonings the steak was also very tough and had some cartilage bits. The food was okay not great this is a place you go to if youre going for drinks their Margaritas were strong and large and tasty
I was disappointed. My chicken mole was over cooked. The mole had a bit of a burnt taste. Seems it would of been good, had a nice kick to it. Chicken was dry.Frustrated we didnt get a drink menu. I asked the price of the sangria, he said $9. Turns out to be $11 on the bill.I will try Rosas next time.
3 stars because of the automatically added 20% tip for a table of four? Seemed like they pick and choose who they slap the extra tax for. Service was good but wouldnt have given them 20% regardless. Food was good and drinks were great though, to be fair. Would have given five stars if not for the tip issue.
Gosh I miss this place so much! This used to be my old stomping grounds in the 90s. Get the jumbo peach margarita if they still make them and the Mexican Kitchen Casserole. Their burgers are seasoned to perfection for you Gringos. Staff is attentive to detail and everything is fantastic.
Fresh guac and salsa, very good fish tacos, excellent calamari, and very good service. Good amount of seating for small and large parties of people. Oddly, there was someone who was smoking a cigarette at a table with a group of people....I thought they banned this in most restaurants? Also, there was definitely someone smoking pot.... couldnt tell if is was a customer or the kitchen staff. I guess thats how they roll.
If you like Mexican food, you will enjoy Cancun. The food is good, the drinks are good and strong. Happy Hour is a HUGE hit. Have to get there early if you want a seat near the bar. The dining room is small and intimate, but you can usually get a table if you are a group of four or less. More than four I would suggest a reservation.
So during happy hour, you can only get happy hour prices at the bar, and the bar is tiny. And now that its getting cold be advised the bar is by the doors. And they got double doors thats supposed to keep the cold out, but when a crowd rolls in 4+ deep, youre gonna feel it. Food is ok as are the happy hours drinks. Its ok
Great happy hour drinks and prices. Had the raspberry margarita. The service is horrible. They take forever to come to your table to get your order. If you get the quesadilla, its small so its not shareable. They will tell you it is but its not. I like that they give you chips and salsa when you sit at the table. Their salsa is good
I came here for my boyfriends friends birthday. It was a large group of us, so the they put a few tables together for us. The waiters were attentive, and made sure they were there to get our drink orders quickly and kept refilling the chips and salsa wed ordered earlier. They even sang a Mexican-style birthday song for the birthday girl, which I thought was a nice touch.I didnt really try the food, but the drinks were yummy. It was nice to try, I dont think Id make a second visit though.
It was the worst experience ever. This is not an authentic Mexican restaurant. The guacamole was old and dark and sour. The waitress had said it was a fresh batch, but it wasnt. It was nasty. The rice was not authentic either, tasted as if it was made from uncle Bens boxed rice. The shrimps on the fajitas were extra small, and youre paying for peppers and onions. Any authentic Mexican restaurant you would get tortillas on the side, instead this place you ask for it you pay for it. Ive never paid $17 for water down margarita. Everything was overpriced and it wasnt worth it. 5 Thumbs down👎🏼👎🏽👎🏼👎🏽👎🏼.
After receiving our food, not once were we checked on and actually ended up waiting 20 min to get someone to acknowledge us to get the bill. Mind you, this place was empty af! There were 4 waiters and 3 tables filled including us. When we got the check however they made sure to circle the gratuity and give us soooo much attention, how ironic! Listen, If you’ve got time to waste by all means grab the Mexican steak, it’s actually quite nice. Now If you like good service, good luck!
Bad service and even worse business practices. Only stopped by because the place was empty on New Years Eve should of taken that as a warning. Food was even more disappointing it was Taco Bell quality on nice plates with no seasoning or flavor. Also check your bills the owner adds gratuity to every bill expecting you to double tip.
AMAZING Food!!! The staff is friendly, and willing to make your time special. In my line of work, I am constantly eating out at restaurants, and this place is my go to for exceptional food. Everything tastes fresh, and well seasoned. Id come here every day if I could.
Easily the worst meal Ive had in a long time. Service wasnt the best as I was constantly asked if I wanted guacamole which I declined on every occasion but was never asked if I wanted a drink. Me and my partner ordered nachos for a starter which was Doritos with mince and cheese basically. The main I ordered from the lunch menu and got the mixed platter and requested a burrito and enchilada both with chicken but I received something completely different with beef. Managed 2 forkfuls before I gave up and asked for the bill. Avoid this place
Service was good, food not that great. Wife and I had chicken mole- never had it before- probably not going to have again. Chicken too dry, and mole sauce didnt make it better. Maybe we are just used to mexican food down south. Nice guys working there, just were not impressed with the food.
Ill start with the good. They honored are reservation and the price was reasonable. The bad: I had better Mexican food in Alabama. This is Time Square, NYC. The food is supost to be the very best in the world. As I was walking by Toco Bell after we left, I said to my wife, Id rather eaten there.
One of the best happy hours for frozen margaritas (and other bar food included in the happy hour which goes until 8 pm I believe). The bar is tiny and can be crowded depending on the day and time. I go by myself occasionally and the crowd that goes is always a nice one who will chat with you if you’re open minded to it. Due to the tight squeeze this bar isn’t the best for wheel chair accessibility.
Food was fantastic. The service fantastic. Sangria amazing. Would love to visit here again. My new favorite place in Manhattan. Highly recommend this restaurant. Would give more than 5 stars if possible. Clean, great atmosphere and food delicious. Service was fantastic.
Service wasnt that great, took about 15 minutes to get drinks and about the same amount of time to get the check after our plates were taken. We were the only ones in the dining area when we got there so there was no excuse. Expensive for average food and the burrito in the combo meal was the size of a Taco Bell soft taco.
Service was slow and unless you were there for alcohol they didnt pay much attention to you. The chilaquiles were too salty and not enough avocado was given or sour cream. The waiter didnt even ask if we wanted our drinks refilled. Overall just not a good place and wont be going back.
We had our Christmas lunch with our staff... we all loved the environment at Cancun they make you feel welcome. Becky, Giovanni, and Joseluis treated us every well. I have no compliant. I will recommend this restaurant especially that you cant never go wrong with the lunch special 9.95$. People are great and Food is great.Thank you to all :)
This wasy first experience at Cancun. The service was very slow for Friday afternoon. There were only other 4 tables and they already got their food. It took at least 10 minutes before we could order our food and drink. We didnt get our drink until the food was served. My dish didnt have any flavor or taste. I will not coming back.
My husband and I came to this location to grab some lunch. Worst customer service ever! When we walked up to the host to be seated he did not greet us, he just walked us over to our table. It took us a while to be serviced and when our waiter finally came (which was the host) he took our order; you could also tell he did not want to serve us. My husband and I look very young so maybe he thought we were not guna pay for our meal. The food was not that good at all and neither was the service. I do not recommend this establishment.
The enchiladas, with rice and beans was a one note meal. Salty, and cheesy with ground beef that reminded me too much of Taco Bell beef. Maybe its a one off of what I ordered. The complentary chips and salsa was very good. The waiter added guacamole to the chips prior to us placing an order and when asked if it was included with complentary chips, was told no and they took it away. I hope it was added as an accident and not to fleece us out of 8 dollars for the guac.Overall, atmosphere was fine and waiters friendly. Just not impressed with the food.
Before we actually ordered, they bring us nachos and didnt say anything. When we got our bill, guess what, the nachos were on the list. Be aware of that if you ever want to eat in here. Also, the rice with the bean sauce(or something like that) was terrible. I hardly touched mine.
The alcohol is good and the space is good too.The decoration is a top of the hat to a Spanish ethnicity I just don’t know which one but it’s pretty and homey. If you can try to get the table in the corners with the tapestry. It’s more comfortable and it makes a nice back drop for a picture.Staff is very kind and speak more than enough English to get your order through. Now two wordsChicken QuesadillaGet it. You won’t regret it. The chickens like, homemade and the guacamole is just So Good and the jalapeño slices just brings it all together. you don’t have to eat the guacamole or jalapeño they’re easily removed without effecting the taste, but geez I ’m so sad I was living my life without this dish. Also try the sweet banana for dessert. It’s soooo good it’s fried banana covered in cinnamon with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Beautiful.
Very friendly and cozy place. Ive been coming here for over 25 years. Even after moving to Brooklyn 20 years ago I still keep coming back, to great margaritas, good food and a very friendly atmosphere. In a city which becomes more chaotic everyday, this is truly an oasis
This is the most appalling restaurant in New York City!!I would not rate it any star at all!!!... The service is so poor and yet the camp mexican head waiter demanded more than 25% service charge, the food wasnt authentic, the waiter will fool you with drinks full of ice and no alcohol, the place was noisy and greasy, the lavatory is filthy and disgusting, its a shocking place and extremely expensive.fir burritos and few awful drinks I payed almost 200 dollars and the waiters was asking forMore tips, its a disgusting place to eat... This place is a rip off!! Never come to this place
Food was very average, $8 bowl of guac and $2 for a side of sour cream. Got our food wrapped up and the sour cream was thrown in with the burger rather than the burrito whos plate it was on and the burger was missing the bottom bun. Just felt like half assed effort all around
Bsr tender jose- had my card stolen and claimed that he never got the card. A good bartender never takes drink orders without starting a tab. Jose claims he gave us everything and never got card. I called my bank and they told me someone tried taking $300 out a block away and failed with passwords. Horrible slow bartender and bar guest have access to steal cards. Host are mean , young clueless and dont know how to treat customers.Started a good night, ended as workers being liars. A good place takes care of customers and this place did not
- Enchilada suizas - a chicken and a cheese enchilada, served with lettuce and a couple dollops of sour cream on top, and rice and beans on the side; cheese is a thick chunk wrapped up, so less gooey, more chewy in texture; over still a decent dish- Chips and salsa were not bad either
My favorite Mexican restaurant in NYC (been here many times) the atmosphere is very nice, great service, good food (recommend the taco trio), the drinks are also very good (I recommend the mojito and Sangria margarita) overall great experience I highly recommend it, I will continue to come here in the future.

2017-02-27Very reliable restaurant for well priced Mexican fare and drinks. The dinner menu offers a complete selection of traditional Mexican plates and a couple of unique house specials. The lunch specials are also a daily great value. Visit during Happy Hour for drink specials.

2018-04-19Decent mexican food here. You can tell the authenticity of a Mexican restaurant by the traditional but usually unknown dishes served. In this case chilaquiles. They are not bad. I found them slightly mushy but overall passable. I do prefer them served with egg. I did approve of the avocado and chopped onion garnish. The margarita was fine and i did love the complimentary chips and salsa.

2020-03-11Recently went to see what all the hype about this restaurant was and I wasnt impressed I stood while staff completely ignored me but had a conversation sure it isnt busy but wouldnt staff want guest to come in so they have work to do ? Long story short I left since I wasnt even approached to see if wanted to be seated looks like small chat is more important 🙄

2019-11-06Loved this dining experience. guacamole was great (made fresh for every order but not table side). Ordered steak fajitas and the steak was tender. For every beer we ordered they brought a fresh chilled glass. Bonus points in my book. I would recommend.
