Candlewood Suites East Syracuse - Carrier Circle, an IHG Hotel in East Syracuse

The room was unclean and not prepared adequately for us before arrival. The floor was unswept and the counters were sticky. The AC had cigarette burns on it. I brought this to the attention of the front desk staff and was told someone would be up to clean it and nobody ever showed up. Truly one of the worst candlewood suites I have ever been to. It makes me not want to use IHG hotels anymore.
Not sure how they calculate this star ⭐️ rating. I would give it a 2 at best. In need of a really deep cleaning through out hotel. Has an odor in hallways and room. I did open window and air out and that helped some. Room was ok. Somewhat updated but they need to eliminate all the drapes that are dirty and hold odors. Not in a very good neighborhood and would not recommend to women traveling alone. Bright spot was the desk clerks. They do a good job.
I am an IHG member and have never seen one of their hotel rooms left in this condition. When we arrived and entered the room, we were greeted with a door that had to be shouldered open due to it being jammed in the doorframe and it went downhill from there. After we took a look, we discovered that the floor was not cleaned, there were fingerprints on about every surface in the kitchenette and the bathroom was not cleaned. Totally disgusting. We ended up just cleaning the surfaces, floor and bathroom ourselves as it was relatively late and we just wanted to go to bed. To the hotels credit, it seemed like the sheets were changed. But really, should they get credit for that? The basic cleanliness that one would expect from a room, especially an IHG room, was not evident here.
I want to start with the positives. Comfy bed and nice staff. The rest is not good. Room smelled like cat urine. We had no towels or washcloths from the time we checked in until 9pm…and even then we only rec’d 2 big towels( there were 3 of us) and 3 pool towels. We had a sleeper sofa in our room, but had no bedding whatsoever for it. Overall, worst hotel we stayed at on our cross country 11,000 mile trip.
Overall, I had a very pleasant one night stay at this hotel. There are two things that need to be fixed in order for the stay to be excellent. First of all the shower needs shower doors. The bathroom floods. The curtain does nothing to prevent the water from spilling onto the bathroom floor. I had to use four bath towels to wipe up all the water in order to feel safe walking around the bathroom. The second thing is the smoking area is just outside the stairwell. It’s dirty. The smoke wafts into the hotel and into my room which was adjacent to the stairwell.
This hotel/suite was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. I had come to Syracuse for work and originally planned my stay at Candlewood to be for almost two months. From the first week until my last night, it was the most annoying and frustrating experience. The first sign was finding old kids toys under the bed. Never trust a place that doesn’t look under the bed. By the third day in my first room, the electric doorknob stopped working and i couldn’t get into my room without swiping the card 40 times. I had to practically argue with the front desk lady and tell her that it most definitely was not working, so she reluctantly moved me to a second room. I get all packed in this second room, then the morning I come to find that the stove doesn’t even work. Considering I was staying here for a lengthy time, I wasn’t exactly willing to eat my meals simply out of a microwave, so I needed a stove. I was then moved to a third room. This room seemed to be ok at first minus the wet carpet near the AC. I figured they had just shampooed the rug before I got there (wishful thinking on my part). After staying there for a few nights, I found that it was a routine for my upstairs neighbor to be smoking weed (which the smell filled my room from the vent in the bathroom) and beat their dog loudly at all hours of the night. I had brought this to the attention of the front desk but nothing came of it. Then one night I came home from work and the whole carpet on the side of the room where the AC is located was soaked and I could hear dripping. The AC was literally leaking water onto the carpet. This was the final straw of this miserable stay. Thankfully management was understanding about me cutting my visit short. But I would not recommend this place for anyone visiting for longer than one night.
Upon entering the hallway to our room there was a strong smell of rotten cabbage. It was approximately 8pm and we had to walk past several garbage bags lined up in the hallway. All of the doors in the hallway were visibly dirty. The interior doors and light switches of our room were also visibly dirty. The shower in one bathroom didnt drain properly so there were several inches of water in the tub. In the other bathroom the towel bar fell off the wall. The room was spacious with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and the price was good. Thankful I brought my own cleaning supplies though....
Upon entering the room there was a horrible smell. The room was old , worn out and just looked dirty. Since we were using points to stay, we just sucked it up and made the best of it. I would never consider spending good money to stay there. The only redeeming quality was the staff. They were both friendly and helpful.
I am an IHG member and have never seen one of their hotel rooms left in this condition. When we arrived and entered the room, we were greeted with a door that had to be shouldered open due to it being jammed in the doorframe and it went downhill from there. We arrived, the person was sitting at the front desk eating and barely acknowledged me, we were told a room was cleaned and was given old room keys previously used by someone else. When we arrived to the first room the door was jarred open, the floors were filthy, the chair had crumbs all over it, there were no kitchen towels, the microwave had fingerprints and the refrigerator and freezer had left over food in it . I called downstairs and we were moved to a different room. The second room- dirty floors, no coffee, broken towel bar, and the dishwasher was running. I was running the shower at the time and I ran downstairs for more towels, by the time I got upstairs (less than 3 minutes) the bathtub itself was full of water and took about 30 minutes to drain out after my shower. When we asked for additional towels, we were asked to come downstairs (which I understand, no one is working these days) so I couldn’t care less about that. However everyone seemed very unprofessional from their appearance, to their demeanor. I would recommend you find a different hotel.
For a IHG property, it was not up to par. The room smelled and the furniture was stained, with stuff Id rather not mention. We couldnt sit on the living room furniture, it was so gross. Couldnt even make coffee in our room because the pot was filthy. The staff member who checked us in however, was nice and courteous.
We booked a wedding block almost a yr in advance. The night before wedding I arrived at hotel. I am bride. I personally booked 3 rooms- 2 bedroom suite, king suite and queen suite. When we arrived they only had 2 queen suites available for me. My 5 children were asked to sleep in a queen bed-- needless to say I was a bit upset/angry. The woman at front desk tried however what could she do if all rooms were given away to other patrons? Still have no idea how our room could be given away but that is what we were told. We had to book at a different hotel and all our wedding guests remained at candlewood. It put quite a damper on the wedding to say the least. Will never recommend this hotel for an event.
NOT the usual IHG quality which we are used to. Definitely an older property but has not been well maintained. The hallways and room doors could use a fresh coat of paint. There was only 1 hanger in the closet and no towels for shower/bath. The room phone was filthy(see photo) and inoperable. The pole lamps had not been dusted( see photo- you can tell where I ran my finger through the dust)in weeks. There is no vent in the bathroom and the light switch for the bathroom is behind the door( very inconvenient)and flips down, not up, to turn it on. The recycle bins would get a lot more use if they were in plain sight instead of in the closet...judging by the copious amount of beer bottles and cans in stairwell trash cans. There are no plates, cups silverware, pots/pans, iron and such in the room but this may be a COVID related issue, not sure. We hate to think that we will have to start packing up half our kitchen when we travel to extended stay hotels.
Front desk staff are professional, friendly and accomodating. Rooms are clean, bed and pillows are super yummy comfortable!Walk in shower curtains are insufficent, the shower overflows onto the floor and makes it very slippery. toilet tissue is like cement and clogs the toilet frequently (had overflows more then once). the curtain hardware could use repair/replacement as most rooms the blackout wands dont overlap.I offer these as suggestions, the overall experience is very good to excellent.
First room toilet overflowed 2nd room no door lock third room was ok. All rooms on the 3rd floor requiring a trip to the desk to get a new room. Service desk attendant was very apologetic and understanding. No breakfast. Room had strange odor ( old carpet) but was otherwise okay.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and were grateful for an affordable, spacious suite that accommodated four adults, a teenager, and a dog comfortably. The staff provided bedding for the pull-out sofa quickly upon request. The room was not well maintained - there had obviously been a party in the room prior to our stay given the amount of tape on the walls, bits of streamers on the carpet, stains on the furniture, sticky substances on furniture and doors, and glitter in many areas of the room including inside the refrigerator. There was also a strong odor in the room - we purchased a candle and burned it throughout our stay to alleviate it. Finally, other guests clearly were not observing the no-smoking policy in the hallway.
Hotel was clean and comfortable. Nice spacious room with a decent quality little kitchenette. The level of professionalism and customer service has definitely gone up a lot in the last couple months since the new managers showed up. It really feels like they care about you and your stay now.Only downside was the snack station up front seemed a little light, could use a good restocking.
Was a great place to rest our heads when we couldnt make our destination in time. front desk could of used some help even though we were the only people there and we made our reservation on the website and called ahead. interior wise was off put by the pry marks at the bottom of the door when we got to our room but was surprised in a good way rooms werent bad just maybe a touch better cleaning but quick glance wouldnt of noticed any of cleaning issues. beds were comfy and nice
I booked 1 month out and got my confirmation for a wheelchair roll in shower room for 7 nights. After a long travel day from Colorado we check in and where told, sorry we dont have your room. We were so tired we said lets just a take a room and we will figure it out in the morning. I booked this Candlewood vs. the Candlewood by the airport because it has a roll in shower and its much easier on my wife, even though this hotel is further away from family we were visiting for the week. The next morning the young man at the front desk said we would have to wait until 3pm to see if we could get the room we were confirmed for. This is unacceptable as I am in town to visit family for only a week and I dont want to spend my vacation switching rooms. I then asked the clerk if we could get a shower chair for the shower. He answered sorry we dont have any. Are you kidding me? I told him I am using the office chair and dont care if it gets ruined by the water. Finally after an hour goes by, I received a call from Tom in management giving me an update on our problem. To make a long story short they dont have our room and wont for the week. But he did say he would help us find another IHG property. Great! Waste a day of vacation to find another hotel. I realize things happen but a friendly phone call would have helped us out and helped us preplan a little better.I am glad we didnt stay because the room we stayed in smelled sour like an old shower curtain and the tub area was dirty. The bathroom floor was so discusting you could see where the maid had mopped and left dirty shoe stains. We ended up with another IHG property and glad we did. We will now stay at Holiday Inn Syracuse airport from now on. Sorry Candlewood you lost our future business. So much for being a Spire Ambassador level IHG you cant even get your confirmation honored.
We stayed in a king suite. The shower stall had such a low lip/barrier to the rest of the bathroom, and the shower curtain wouldnt stay in place (it was too light and blew everywhere) that we couldnt shower without flooding the entire floor of the bathroom. The light to the bathroom was outside of the bathroom itself. The curtains to the guest room itself had holes in it, as if moths had eaten through the fabric. The a/c also wouldnt stay at our desired temperature and it was a 90 degree day, our room was close to 78 all night.
The Staff is Friendly and Attentive. The Hotel is clean and Quiet... The showers are odd with NO Sliding door only a curtain that blows around while showing. The rooms are nice and the kitchenette is convenient... Overall, this was a good Hotel and good Stay... Thanks!
The check in process is very good. I arrived very late, the hotel staffs are friendly and professional. The room is a little bit old but clean. The shower water temperature is also a little on the cold side. The major issue is the refrigerator makes noise periodically and it waked me up several times at night.
I needed a long-stay hotel with kitchenette for a recent visit to Syracuse. I unfortunately picked another hotel property in the area of Carrier Circle. After struggling 5 days in a below average, noisy, uncomfortable hotel, I discovered Candlewood Suites during a web search. I booked a room online, and requested an early check-in. After booking the room, I immediately called the front desk and asked what the earliest I could check in. The desk staff called me by name, and told me I could check in any time (9am). I really appreciated this, as I didnt want to spend any more time at the original hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff extremely friendly and accommodating. The hotel was quiet, I never heard another guest while in my room. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend the hotel to others.
Fix the issues in the rooms: My first room I unpacked in at 3:00 am. used the restroom and my toilet overflowed as the toilet did not stop running after a flush and FLOODED the floor. I had to change rooms. The new rooms shower curtain rod was barely hanging onto the wall causing the curtain to fall to the center and water to flood the floor every use. The dishes were not clean and in the cupboards, they were in the dishwasher, covered in water and not clean either. After 3 days of dealing with all of this, I attempted to use the stove and that didnt work either. I notified the desk of the problems at check out but frankly didnt want to keep dealing with problems. Furthermore, the hallways are in bad need of new paint. If I had the choice to go to a different hotel, I would have after the first night.
I stayed at this hotel for almost a month and all of the employees were very nice and accommodating. Whenever I would ask for something they would instantly help. I do like that the rooms are only cleaned once a week, however, I wish there was a way to decide which day I could get my room cleaned. The last two weeks I was there I opted out of getting my room cleaned due to me being in the room and trying to stay safe during COVID. The Candlewood Cupboard is great and I bought snacks there often, however I wish there was more of a variety. Overall, really great experience and would recommend for a long term stay.
I selected this hotel because of the review of others. I intended to stay for a long-term and felt the staff were very accommodating to my request. The room was very contemporary looking and I felt very comfortable, however the coffee pot is very small and will only make four small cups.. The kitchen was stocked with basic supplies and organized nicely. Safety was a primary concern and I felt that staff were always very visible and friendly, halls and stairs were well lit, and so was the parking lot. There is no restaurant or lounge here, so you do have to either order out or go off site for dinner and a drink.
The morning male desk clerk on 0914/21 was very nasty and a lier the room was very nasty bowel movement was left in toilet and the shower was dirty from top to bottom the inside of toilet look it was never clean was bit by bedbugs. Ask him tocheck one one room out he put us out of all rooms he is a very nasty person and then tried to claim he was amanager on duty ... Never will I stay at that nasty hotelagain
We have stayed at this hotel before and had a better experience than this one. Our suite was missing dish soap, dishwasher detergent, and paper towels, so we had to go ask for it. A full garbage can from the previous occupants was left under the sink. We put it outside our doorway and it was still there two days later. Hallway carpeting is loose and pulling up, which makes the place look somewhat trashy. We stayed in a suite with an occupancy of six, but there were only three spoons and coffee cups. We will stay there again, but only because our previous experience was better than this one. It would be nice if all employees were wearing masks as is required by the state of New York.
Overall, my experience was great. Only 2 issues I encountered were the air conditioning and that housekeeping never came to my room to change the linens until the day of my checkout. Air conditioner was keeping the room cool-ish but overall couldve been working better in my opinion. Finally, housekeeping never changed my linens after my first night. Housekeeping showed up at my door at 8am the day of check out asking me if I needed my linens changed. This made me a little upset. I did not have a DND sign on my door during my stay. All in all still a good stay though.
I chose the hotel for the lowest price in the area and didnt expect much beyond a place to sleep with a kitchenette. While the property is older and shows some wear it was a very comfortable and quiet stay. The staff were very friendly and did their best to address any issues quickly and courteously. Even the location was great with only a short drive to anything I needed.
From broken bathtubs, uncleaned toilets to food crumbs near counters to stained carpeting to smoke-filled smells and uncleaned shoe prints, this location had it all. Quite atypical of the usual Candlewood suites. The staff were friendly and apologetic but couldn’t do much more as housekeeping schedules are once a week at this time. Maybe the hotel should also stay open once a week, in that case!?
We arrived late in the afternoon was at the Syracuse Nationals. The front desk staff was phenomenal. They advised us of places to eat., and let us know if they could be of assistance, just ask . The outside gazebo was an excellent place to sit. We enjoyed our coffee out there. The staff does a walkabout checking the parking lot where our parked beauties were every hour. The room was really accommodating with everything we needed. Excellent place to stay. Great staff, you are appreciated as customers. Thanks for the excellent service Danielle / Kevin Stockley
As a traveling nurse, it can be hard to find affordable, clean, and flexible hotels/Airbnbs. This hotel exceeded my expectations. I cannot rave enough about it. Tanya got me a room last minute when I arrived to an airbnb that was gross and dirty.. My stay at Candlewood suites was just amazing. Hands down the best place I’ve stayed during my travel nursing. The rooms have always been spotless, and the walls are thick so you rarely hear other guests. The kitchen and bathroom are stocked with things that not a lot of places have: dishes, silverware, pots and pans, dishwasher with dish soap and dish pods, coffee, coffee maker, to go cups, toaster, and more. The bathrooms are provided with more than enough towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner. Nice soft tissues and soft tissue paper. There is even a fitness room right next to my room which is awesome for me to get in a workout before work! I do wish it were a little bigger, but hey that’s nothing. The front lobby has free coffee and it’s delicious. They also have low cost snacks, drinks and food. I do think it would be a nice touch to provide guests with free snacks in their room as many places are starting to do that. The bed is incredibly comfortable with a heater/air conditioning unit that you can set to constant fan mode (my weakness for a good night of sleep). The TVs are a little finicky, but I’m not a big tv watcher. Overall I love this place. It allows me to rest well In between my shifts and gives me relief knowing my room is clean and I don’t have to worry about needing to call for anything extra as my room has everything it needs. 5/5!!! Recommend it to all my traveling nurses ❤️
I stayed here once before. It was mediocre. I tried again, and most likely may be my last. Good budget hotel but they need to step up the quality of service a bit. Standard not expected by IHG hotel. Arrived in room and first thing went to wash hands. No bar soap in bathroom, had to use Palmolive dish soap. Had to call and promptly was given some. Went to turn on tv. Remote did not work. Called for new batteries. Promptly brought to room. Remote still did not work. Fold out sofa bed had no linens in the closet. Had to call. Was promptly given linens. Peanuts and crumbs lined the inside of the bed frame on sofa bed. Needs a cleaning (room 229). Maids, two days in row, line the first floor hall way sitting on floors and being on phones. Never see this behavior in any other IHG hotel.
The rooms are like a home away from home. Kitchenette area is a wonderful addition to the room. Its spacious and clean. Three of us was in a one bedroom and felt comfortable and happy. Nice big beds and pullout couches in the room. Recliners to sit back and relax in, and a great work space. I really have no complaints.
We wont stay again. The front desk was great. Very friendly both during a phone conversation before we booked and in person when we checked in. Bravo to him, check in was the only part of the experience that we enjoyed. The grounds are awful, there are weeds everywhere. Weeds in the rocks, trash on the ground. The outside of the building is sad looking. The hallway to our room had horrible cooking orders and bags and bags of garbage outside peoples doors. The area didnt feel incredibly unsafe but just had a aura walk fast, pay attention and get inside. Not a compliment to the IHG Brand.
We really enjoyed our stay. The bed was very comfortable and it was quiet enough to sleep. We had one problem in the bathroom. The shower was great BUT the tub started filling with water. It was too late to try to get someone in to plunge the tub so we just dealt with it. We told them about the problem when we checked out and they said theyd send someone down to fix the problem. Also, the TV didnt work at first but they sent someone down immediately and fixed it. Over all we were happy.
Although the hob didnt work in our room and our room did not contain a frying pan, the front desk did their best to reaccommodate us. Rosa on the front desk team was fantastic. The beds were super comfy, everywhere was clean. The rooms have been renovated but the corridors in the hotel still look like they come from the 90s. The lending cupboard is a nice touch, as is the gas grill for anybodys use. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay on the newly renovated suite. Loved that the bedroom was separate. The bathroom and kitchen floors appeared to be clean but we thought they could have used a touch up. The rest of the suite was spotless. The bed was very clean and comfortable. The bed pillows were not so comfortable. Staff was very friendly and accomodating.Overall, we enjoyed our stay and we would stay at this hotel again.
The staff is the only thing saving this hotel. Everyone here was awesome with the exception of Mike. Abdul and tom were excellent. They did their best to accomodate us. Rosa was very sweet and understanding. The hotel is very unclean. The toilets under the rim have black around them, the whole place smells of stale smoke and apparently someone lets people smoke in the hotel because there is also fresh smell of smoke. I spoke with 2 other guests who had the same experience. The microwave had leftover crumbs and food splashes. Its unfortunate, but this hotel needs management who will enforce their no smoking policy or it will not have guests.
The supervisor Chris at check out was very courteous. However, on our arrival room was not ready at 1530 hours though check in is supposed to be at 1500. The lady at front desk was courteous and got us upgraded and the room ready after waiting 20 mins she was apologetic. The stove top in the room was not functioning. We went out for a day trip the next morning and when we came back at 1800 we found no housekeeping service ie room was not clean; toilet not cleant; towels not changed! Called the front desk and informed and the lady at the front desk retorted we never requested house keeping. I told her that We did not put up the sign outside our door that no housekeeping required thus it was clear that we wanted housekeeping. She said it was not the day for housekeeping and they do not provide housekeeping everyday. I requested if we could have clean towels and the lady asked us to come down with the dirty towels and collect the fresh ones yourselves. In my over 30 years of stay at over perhaps 200 hotels and suites across the globe; I have never come across such poor/bad service; especially the attitude of a front desk person.Unfortunately in my opinion this type of a property gives a bad name to the IHG brand.I will not recommend this property to anyone.
This is an excellent location, with a staff that is seriously concerned with helping the guests. I have stayed in many Candlewood properties and that is why I selected this option during my stay in Syracuse. The free laundry is a big plus for guests. The suite itself comes adequately furnished to cook and entertain if you have to. They also offer an outside gas grill and gazebo which is nice. Now the bad news, my room smelled like pet urine, they did offer to steam clean the carpets when I told them, but that was an inconvenience for me so I just burned scented candles. I would think that any room should have carpets cleaned right after a pet owner vacates. It was a disgusting smell. The coffee maker had mold or something in the water well , but the front desk did give me another one. The bathroom needed serious updating, the sink had been caulked so many times it was slanted and I could not get anything to stay on the sink. There are no vanities, so be prepared to use the kitchen counter for your cosmetics. Towels, bed linens, and pillows were better than expected. The entire property looks tired and I was dis-appointed in the overall cleanliness of the grounds.
From the moment we arrived until the time we checked out we received outstanding customer service by Mike and all of the staff. The rooms were very clean and spacious. It had all the necessary appliances. Full size clean refrigerator and stove which made our stay very convenient. The free washer and dryer was a nice perk too. The machines were clean and always available. We enjoyed having the convenience store items available specially for late night snacks.
I was there for 3 &1/2 weeks. The room was clean and comfortable. However their policy of cleaning the room once a week was sorely lacking. My room should have been clean for 4 times with those standards, it was cleaned twice. the policy clean the room once a week ought to be amended to twice a week just for vacuuming the floor if nothing else considering all the snow and mud. I was constantly running out of coffee & continually having to go downstairs for replenishment. There was a lot of snow the parkway and roadway was not clearly marked consequently I drove off an edge through the snow no way of knowing. Hotel was no help. The staff was friendly and accommodating but it was always something having to be done. I was billed for use of cupboard, never used it. When I went to check out I had warned them twice two days before I was checking out between 3 and 4 a.m. no one was there to check me out The ability to borrow cooking utensils was super.Crockpots, blenders, etc. I wont be back, despite convenient location.
Very nice rooms for a very competitive price. Check in staff was patient as I had a issue with the payment method Id set up the reservation with (my fault), and helpful in getting everything straightened out.Rooms come with a full size fridge+freezer, sink, stove top, range microwave, and a dishwasher. Bed was comfy, bathroom was nice. TV has plenty of channels.
If I could give negative stars I would. This hotel is BEYOND dirty. Upon entering the room, it was apparent they do NOT have ANY cleaning standards! There was hair all over the towels, the floor, and body hair including genital hair on the toilet seat. The room was clearly NOT cleaned to any reasonable standard. Please do not waste your money and do not risk yours or your families health at this disgusting hotel! Do not believe the other fake posted and paid reviews. I am a real customer and my experience was horrific and unfortunately real.
I found this Candlewood Suites hotel to be very clean. My room appeared to be in like new condition. While the bathroom and kitchen clean and well stocked. I was checked in my a very pleasant woman named Tia who was not only very pleasant but also considerate enough to ask me if I had a preference in May room location before assigning me a room. I thought that to be very considerate. I also had dealings with both Mike and Vinny, two more members of the staff here that need to be noted for their professionalism and pleasant demeanor. Thank you all. I look forward to my returning stay.
The only reason this is getting two stars is because of the staff at check in. She was very polite and easy to check in with. The rest of the stay was not good at all. Room was clean but old. Walls are paper thin and I heard every other person on the floor the whole night. I booked as it was cheap and I just needed a place to stay for an early flight. Skip this and spend the extra $30 to stay at another hotel in the area.
There was a Jerry Seinfeld episode that dealt with reservations. The staff here should be scheduled to review it. I made a reservation for a 2 bedroom suite because I needed it, if i wanted 2 single rooms, I could of reserved them at multiple locations. when i arrived i was told they sent me an email which i didnt receive. ( maybe it was spam filtered?) that my room was not available and they gave me 2 singles at a reduced rate. The rate was not nearly enough compensation based upon the inconveniences. I was very disappointed as i have stayed here multiple times and never questioned the rates or services provided.
Came to visit family in the area and was a great choice of hotel for us to relax. We were greeted by Manny who was super nice and friendly. He explained everything to us and made sure we knew that if anything was needed, the staff was ready to help. We had 3 year old asleep in our arms and we were happy to retire to a comfy bed. The room was clean and newly renovated. The bed was comfy and we all got a good nights sleep. Definitely a place that wed go back to when in the area. Great quiet location and a friendly staff...
I was very satisfied with my room and the staff at the hotel. The only thing I would like to see in the future is because I was staying in town on business my company uses a CLC card to pay for the room. Because we use this card we don’t receive reward points. I feel this is unfair to the guest. We are still spending money here and we do have options. I understand we are getting a discounted rate but we should still get at least some reward points.
This hotel was very nice and clean. The room was clean and looked updated. With a nice comfortable bed and pillows. Bathroom was clean. Had a blow dryer behind the door. The only thing missing was the shampoo and conditioner. I think that was just an accident, Luckily I had some with me otherwise Im sure I could have went down and got some from the front desk. Staff was very nice. Had no problems.
I have been a customer of this location for more than 15 yesars when travelling to Syr. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it has been recently updated and the rooms are so nice and refeshing now. It has also become a non-smoking facility. They do allow pets which in the past has been a problem for non pet owners who are assigned rooms where pets have been. The front desk staff told me they have a revised policy where room are now blocked off for owners with pet guests. The front desk staff is wonderful. The free laundry is a big plus, (who wants to come home with 9 days of laundry?). The shower pressure is phenomenal, but most importantly for me is the comfort of the bed. It was better than home. If you are looking for a good restaurant, try Joeys right on the circle. they have both casual and formal dining and takeout. With a full kitchen it is exactly what I need when staying to visit family.
From the moment we did our booking until the time of checkout the guest service has been amazing. The personal attention by Mike is the best that weve ever had. The rooms were nice and spacious. Very clean with full amenities. Large refrigerator, microwave, stove and all very clean. Having access to free washer and dryers were also a plus. We would definitely book this hotel again.
We were pleasantly surprised by the customer service at the hotel. When we arrived, we immediately went up to our room. I was staying with my mother and had booked a room with a queen bed, but we instantly realized that the bed was going to be too small. I went to the front desk and asked if we could be upgraded to a room with a larger bed or two beds. I expected a solid no, but not only did LouAnn upgrade our room she did it quickly and free of charge. This was just the beginning of our wonderful stay. LouAnn brought us up extra sheets and blankets so we would be comfortable. Every member of the staff was extremely polite and welcoming. We ended up having a noise complaint on some neighbors and it was handled well. I loved our stay and would definitely recommend this location to anyone! The recently remodeled rooms are beautiful and the bed was very comfortable.
The room was dirty the furniture was broken the furnishings were rusted and unusable the dish was had dirty dishes in it as well as dirty dishes in the cabinet the I am guessing were supposedly clean. And the coffee maker basket still had coffee in it Obviously this room wasn’t cleaned it and during these Covid times as a guest traveling you would expect your room to be cleaned and usable and maintained .... to bad I can’t attach the pictures
The experience with check-in was a rough one. Had issue with cleaness, but the staff who assisted made up for it. Especially Rosa, the front desk manager; she was kind, and did her best to accommodate us as much as she could. Quiet location though, so it was easy to sleep, but a standard bed is really small. Not recommended for two or more, especially if you also have a child who slaps around when sleeping!
The hotel has done a nice job on the remodel so far. Much cleaner! Mike was very nice at check out. My room was missing the hair dryer - I should have asked for one. The bed was a little hard for my taste. My only complaint--the pillows are too small, soft and squishy-no support at all.
I felt comfortable talking with the entire front desk staff and one other whose office was in the corridor near our room (her name is Denise). All were very helpful and cheerful. My only disappointment was that housekeeping is done in the rooms only on the seventh day of a stay. As we were there only four, we never saw housekeeping. Using the laundry room to freshen towels worked fine for us, but we were only a few doors away from that part of the property. Could have used a quick mop of hard surface floors daily or at least every other day as it was August, and even in CNY, humidity has its effects. Imagine if it was snow and rainy season, that might necessitate more frequent care?Obtaining bathroom tissue or added towels took no more than a quick mention at the front desk and our request was fulfilled.Check out was amazingly quick and friendly, but Id come to expect nothing less by the end of our stay. Id stay here again. It is probably more suited to business travelers, and ours was a stay strictly to visit our hometown and catch up with family and friends.
Found this hotel around Syracuse New York looking for decent accommodation in up state New York at less than a premium price. I found it here. The bed was clean and comfortable for sleep. The room was small but no less so than a standard hotel room and the kitchenette is a nice feature. This is an extended stay hotel and you can see it houses working men during the week. I knew this ahead of time because I researched the hotel before I scheduled to stay. The outside gas grill for guests is a great feature to have though regrettably we did not have occasion to use it when we stayed.Mike who appears to be the or a manager was helpful and professional even in dealing with the need to downgrade our room a week before the stay due to extended stay guests staying over (he did say but I assume the aforementioned working men. He adjusted this adaquitly to compensate for this. Glad I did have to handle that with a guest who booked so far ahead. His staff also worked to be kind and helpful. We plan to stay here again on our way back from Vermont.
The whole process of the stay was easy untill it came to check out!! I was just minutes getting booked into my room. Although I had reservation for the room already and paid for it with points something was wrong with my credit card information and I had to leave a 25 deposit for the morning. No big deal. On to my room and clean it was... Great nights sleep so good I over slept a wink.. in a rush I packed and headed out got to the lobby where it looked like people that where living there had a bunch of things on a cart and were having problem getting the bank to give them money for longer stay .. screaming and swearing like a nothing I ever heard before .. I had to actually take my daughter back to the room because it got so intense... Finally my wife was outta the shower and could watch her while I got going.. by this time Im already late Im going to grab my 25 bucks but this lady was still going on like a crazed physco . I was just going to try and sneak out now that she noticed I took my daughter back she proceeded to get louder because she felt it must gave been rude for me to remove my daughter from that environment. Finally got past them and there carload of supplies planning on just running for the door. The nice front desk lady asked me if I was checking out and I said yes while talking with her she noticed there was a note for me to get my refund.. a rude obnoxious customer absolutely ruined my day and trip. Although the staff and stay was great. Seriously unfortunate event that never had to happen
Our stay was very pleasant and affordable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. We especially liked the plush towels. The kitchenette needs updating and was lacking in silverware and cookware. But, considering the price of the room, we cant complain too much. We would encourage the hotel to begin serving some sort of breakfast and offer a better brand of coffee. If we need to return to Syracuse for work again, we will likely stay at this hotel again.
It is bit furthur from the highway exit, but close enough to get to everything by car. I think the hotel is in the middle of renovation. My room was updated, however, I smelled chemicals in the room. I wish they have either automatic door or access button at the entrance. I had hard time pushing the cart and opening the doors. I wondered how people in wheel chair could maneuver. Staff and manager were very friendly and helpful to resolve at my check issue. Id stay again when I have chance. Thank you!
The rooms here exceeded our expectations. We were upgraded to a one bedroom suite at check-in which was a surprise. The room was very large and open with a beautiful kitchenette with seating area open to the living room with big screen tv. The bathroom and bedroom were large and bed was extremely comfortable. We only stayed one night so we didnt take advantage of the kitchen but it was clean with dishes and silverware with a full size fridge, microwave and even a stove! I would highly recommend this hotel!
This was a great place to stay. Very Quiet, and comfortable. Plenty of coffee in the AM. Only down fall was too many people congregated in the small check in area. I have suggested a limit of no more than 5 people stand waiting in the check in / out area at a time, maybe doing this by putting signs up. Otherwise it was a great night sleep.
The staff was very helpful knowledgeable and courteous..... The rates were very flexible.... I stayed at the Candlewood Suites for 7 months and my room was always cleaned every week... I had no problems during my entire stay here I would recommend this hotel to anyone
Was looking for modestly priced lodging option as I needed to be in town longer than usual, combining business and pleasure. Was pleased to find that my room included a full refrigerator, stove top and microwave which allowed me to keep food costs much lower than expected.Free washers and dryers were also available which really came in handy. Have recently retired and will be returning to the area to visit family and friends fairly often. Will definitely use Candlewood Suites again.
The motel is conveniently located near several restaurants. It is clean, the staff is courteous. The beds are comfortable. The desk is great. Only problem we saw is that the light to the bathroom is behind the door. We did have some trouble with the TV and the fellow at the front desk said he was new and did not know how to help us. We unplugged the TV and it was fine after we plugged it back in.
Overall my stay was good. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom and kitchen areas were clean. The tile floor in the entry and kitchen was not clean however. There seemed to be a little confusion on when I was checking out but it was eventually figured out. Parking was an issue - I had to make my own space on a snow bank. Otherwise the stay was good and I would probably come back in the future.
Having cabin fever we decided to stay somewhere close to both the Finger Lakes and the Adirondacks that had a full kitchen and space to spread out. The king bed was comfortable but could use different types of pillows instead of the 4 fluffy ones. The only issue I had was the smell of smoke in the bathroom since all the vents are tied together according to the manager. The smell was noticeable in the morning when I took my shower. The fire alarm went off at 1:30 AM apparently by the same inconsiderate guest who was smoking in their room.
The staff was friendly and the room was nice.... Great value!! I would not use the provided silverware and plates as they were stained, also I was not able to use the coffee machine. It was caked up with old coffee usage and I would say needs at min a flushing with vinegar and water. Fortunately the coffee in the lobby was hot and fresh.
I stayed there for three weeks its a nice place to stay but the house keeping that works there are thieves not all but someone went in my room and stole my money and the police nor staff is doing anything about so I guess theyre all in and think its okay for someone to just walk in your hotel and take your money!!!!!
Everything about this hotel was a 5 star!It was amazing that they offered pet stay, even had doggie bones at front desk, but you’d never know it because it was exceptionally clean, and no smells! We will definitely stay at Candlewood suites the next time we visit Syracuse! We have stayed in many hotels in the area, and I have to say for all amenities, and the cost per night,we will always stay at Candlewood Suites in Syracuse NY!Thank you for a wonderful stay!!!!
The price is very reasonable for the value. The hotel could spend a little bit of money and update the plug ins for use of USB for those customers who don’t have a plug-in usb box. The alarm clock could be more user friendly and the condiments in the bathroom were nonexistent. The bed though was Phenomenal!
My husband and I only stayed one night, however, it would be a great place to stay for longer periods of time. Everyone was friendly and the facility was clean. Mike at the front desk was awesome. I did have to remind them that I was a member when we checked out since they did not give me any welcome points or anything at first. But overall, the stay was pleasant and I did end up getting my welcome points in the end.
Husband and I were traveling to family. Great hotel, quiet area and comfy beds. Perfect for the price. Rooms were clean and renovated. Staff was friendly. Manny was great on check-in as we called to make sure no issues since we were checking in really late (10:30) and explained everything with such a great enthusiasm.
Hotel is awesome!!!! Staff are great!Stayed there with my fiancé and nephew, room was clean, bed was nice a comfortable. Staff made a feel right at home! Staff said hotel was recently renovated. Everything looked like new! Staff informed us about the child safety timer for the stove just in case we wanted to cook because we did have my 5 yr old nephew with us!I would definitely recommend staying here!!
I stayed here once before and it was not a good experience. Staff so so and room very dirty. This time? Complete 180! Loved the rooms. Great job in updating them. Staff was terrific, especially Karen, who helped me with my checkout. Ill be staying here again! One thing though??? Please get new pillows!!! You need four queen size pillows, two firm, two soft. The ones you have are not very comfortable. Makes no sense when everything else was awesome. I look forward to sleeping on them next time.
Every thing in life has a pro and con no matter what it may be. I will start with the pros then move on to the cons. Pros: The front desk staff was always friendly and I genuinely felt they would have helped me any way they could. I liked the little pantry they had. Sometimes you need a little snack or a drink and it was great to grab something from there. The laundry services were indeed free and it was nice to have fresh clean clothes for the second half of my stay. It was mostly quiet there and the area didnt make me feel uncomfortable at all. The bed was comfortable and it was nice to have a few kitchen items for when I got some groceries. Now, for the Cons: 1. The room could have been kept cleaner...the vent above my shower was coated in smokers dust, not something I wanna look at while conditioning. 2. There were crumbs in the cabinet from the last visitor...not that its a HUGE deal but it just means the housekeeper didnt really clean the cupboards. 3. The Thermostat was half broken. The display was unreadable and the buttons stuck on it. 4. Housekeeping only comes ONCE A WEEK! 5. The drapes didnt close so I had the parking lot light filling my room every night. 6. The hot water was pathetic never got hot...forget about taking a bath, youll be shivering (probably good for a fever though). 7. The TVs volume was inaudible over the AC so I had to use closed captioning for everything. 8. Someone stowed a torn and stained office chair in the hallway across from my room...it was there for 3 days before someone moved it. So, would I recommend this hotel? I would recommend it for a night or two, not an extended stay. I thought the staff was very nice. I liked having fresh coffee in the mornings (even though there was no kind of breakfast for guests). I would never stay here longer than 2 nights though.
Poor experience at all! Check-in: Our room was not available because was not ready yet?? This was our surprise during the night after a long flight arrival. Gave us another inferior room category during that night. Poor cleaning system! For being a extended stay, they told us the cleaning service was only after being 1 week. After waiting 1 wk for any service, we notified in front desk it was the day to clean, and when we arrive at hotel no cleaning service was done. We have to wait 1 wk and 1 day to have our room clean and the lady arrived my door only with a spray and a cloth. If I have that information in my reservation, I never make my reservation in that hotel. Laundry: I washed a NEW sheets for my son in his dorm university and the sheets were damaged with oxide. I have to buy a new ones.
Very friendly staff and generally a pleasant stay. However I had to request housecleaning service 5 times before I finally got it--- and these requests were made on days 7,8. and 9 of my stay. I would never sleep in an unmade-up bed that long while at home and it got sort of funky at your hotel. I understand your business model that limits housecleaning to once a week but by day 8 you have to understand that the customer is anticipating relief.Once a housecleaner arrived she was friendly and proficient. One of the great things about Candlewood is the attention to detail of what a traveler might need--- from can openers to salt and pepper and a laundry basket! Perhaps a broom might be a good addition for everyday spills.
Hotel had a good location. The front desk staff were very friendly. Rooms were very spacious and clean. Would highly recommend staying at this hotel. I really liked all the extra amenities that this hotel had (full kitchen with all necessary appliances which included microwave, stove top burners and even a dishwasher). Stay was very nice and I felt like I was at home.
Extremely easy access, as I was close to the back door. Quiet, convenient, comfortable. All the qualities I look for when staying at a motel. Id stay again any day. Staff were very friendly, I felt very safe. The room was very clean. And I love the 12p check out time!
It was ok. My room was fine...nothing great. The staff was friendly. Odd lobby set-up...small space makes it interesting when multiple guests want to check in and people try to walk by at the same time. The entire first floor smelled like weed...both days I was there. Key card at back entrance didnt work...supposedly because of the rain. That was irritating as my room was closest to the back door and I had to walk around to the front of building in the rain.
This was our first time staying at a Candlewood Suites hotel. Although not a luxury hotel, it was clean and reasonably priced with friendly accommodating staff. The bed was fairly comfortable and a good sized room. My only complaint is the loud air conditioning system and the fridge that went on all night.
This hotel seems fairly new and is in a quiet area along with several other chain hotels. It is geared towards longer term stays so there is a kitchen area in each room. There is a Ruby Tuesday within walking distance. Dennys is close by as well. The room was nicely decorated and the shower had good pressure. The bed sheets were good quality. The only negative comment I would make is it seemed there was rarely a staff member at the front desk. The location was handy to explore the area. We visited the Erie Canal museum downtown and did a self-guided walking tour to learn about the architecture and history in the heart of the city. All excellent! Destiny USA is within 10 minutes drive. We would consider staying here again.
We stayed over in Syracuse both on our way to and home from Cape Cod this year. Since this is the first year we were traveling with a pet, I had to search around a little more for a place to stay. Weve used this location as a stopping point a number of times and generally have stayed at either the Marriott Courtyard or Springhill Suites. Neither of these locations allow pets so they were off the list. Plus their rates were sky high on our trip out due to the State Fair.I was very impressed with our experience at Candlewood Suites. The room was neat, clean and comfortable - comparable to what weve had at a Courtyard. The full fridge was helpful since we had some items in a cooler that wouldnt have made the next day. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and provided us local directions and some takeout menus. I made sure to book a room for our return trip home before leaving.Im very picky about hotels and was a little worried given the lower price at Candlewood but there was no cause for concern. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and will be staying there on our future trips through the area.
It is nice to find a place that welcomes dogs, and has good grassy places to walk them and provides pick up bags. they gave us a room that fulfilled my requests well. the dog fee seemed a bit high. trucks were noisy next door. there was no password needed for the hotel internet, so no protection at all. no place to eat within walking distance, but the kitchen area took care of that.
Everything was as expected, that is why I chose to stay here a 2nd time.Nice size room and great having a full kitchen available. Most powerful shower I have experienced which presents a problem where water can go all over bathroom floor.Good location and overall quiet.Lovely addition of a gazebo by front entrance makes entrance inviting.
Upside is studio kitchen and pet friendliness - although adding a pet deposit to already high rates (no breakfast!) makes this a pricey option for very average accommodations. I also prefer a hotel that checks on guests to replenish coffee, towels, etc. and this one did not. Overall the place appears to need some refurbishment as well. Our bed had broken springs, the hallway carpets were stained and some of our lights were missing bulbs. TV is also quite small and shower curtain had no liner. I did like the toiletries, however!
We booked 2 rooms at the same time and they put us on different sides of the hotel. We checked in after 7pm(driving from Ohio) and they have us a handicapped room because they said that was left? We made the reservation 4 months prior and paid for. The front desk person (Rosa) was very rude when I asked why? Rooms are small and smell strange. Don’t stay at this place if you have any other option (buy a tent and sleep in the woods and you would be better off) do it. I was a platinum member of IHG but will not stay at one of there hotels again because of this disgraceful establishment.
I stayed here for 3 months for a technical training for work. The staff was always friendly and complimentary, my room was always very clean (at least on their part!), and it was a cozy stay. The bed was so comfortable too. The surrounding area may not be the nicest, but the grounds of the Candlewood are safe and secure. If I had to pick a downside to my stay, it would be the internet. It would often cut out or slow down significantly. This is especially frustrating if youre trying to video call friends and family and cant make it through 15 minutes without severe delays. Still, most of the time I was able to watch movies/shows with relative ease. Just avoid planning to do any significant work (especially video calls) while at the hotel.
I’ve stayed at other Candlewood locations & this is the worst one thus far. The staircase entrances & hallways are splattered with dirt stains & filth. The housekeeping staff doesn’t speak English & cleans toilets without gloves or work uniforms. They spend more time smoking outside & fraternizing than doing a thorough job in the hotel! The weekly cleaning service is a joke. They need to hire more staff for frequent cleaning & repaint the stairwells. The laundry room is a disgrace & the fitness area is seldom clean. The broken AC unit in the fitness area is a health hazard. The front desk staff is courteous but this hotel is an overall disappointment! I don’t recommend this branch to anyone & is a poor representative of the IHG brand. I’m a platinum IHG member & very unsatisfied.
Perhaps the nicest inexpensive hotel that accepts dogs that Ive stayed at. However, for such a nice place, it was the worst, most uncomfortable mattress EVER!My only other quibble is that it took many tries to get the hang of the heating system. For the first afternoon and evening the room was either roasting or freezing. I did finally get it comfortable, but it could have been a lot easier.Overall, however, the good far exceeded the bad. The staff, the towels, the kitchen, the appearance of the room, all were great. I would stay there again in a minute. Only next time I would bring my own pillow.
We enjoyed a fun time at the NYS Fair and arrived to check in around 10:30PM. MIke at the front desk was very helpful and directed us to a local gas station for pizza. He explained that although it was gas station pizza, it was very good and he was right. The tv channels were good. The neighboring rooms were quite as were the cleaning staff in the morning.A very nice place to stay with a friendly atmosphere.
I was a guest at Candlewood Suites from July 20th to July 23rd, which was Monday, and our room number was 328. On Friday, July 27th, I discovered a $200 charge on my debit card from you, and after calling to inquire why I was told that the smell of cigarette smoke was detected in our room and we were charged a smoking fee. That is a COMPLETE LIE!! We never smoked in our room, nor would we ever do such a thing. The entire floor we were on reeked of stale cigarette smoke when we arrived, and for you to erroneously charge us is poor management at best. It has now been 3 days and I still have not even received a call back, after contacting both the hotel management and IHG corporate offices. Its terrible that this is how rewards members are treated, and this is the first trip my fiance and I have actually taken together since our children were born 8 years ago; now those memories are forever tarnished by this negative experience.UPDATE: The manager, Nikki, apologized for the mistake and agreed to refund the money yesterday. Apparently all it took to charge my card was a housekeeper thinking she smelled something awful coming from our room. As of today there is still no refund. I emailed this morning asking when I could expect it, but no response. My review still stands.
Two Canadian couples traveling with our 88 year old mother who had some problems walking. The two bedroom suite with the kitchenette was very comfortable and we had an enjoyable time being there. Unfortunately the room was on the second floor and a bit of distance from the elevator so it was a bit of hardship for our mom to walk it. Overall it was a very good experience and the staff was exceptional. The other guests were extremely friendly and helpful also. We will definitely return.
Loved my stay at this Candlewood Suites. The room was incredibly comfortable and quiet. The kitchen cupboards and bathroom counter were a bit out of date but it by no means compromised the quality of my stay. The staff were very friendly and courteous and made me feel very comfortable upon my arrival. Could not have had a better experience!
If I had to pick 3 things that stood out at this hotel - 2 of them would be the staff and the other would be the room. Friendly, eternal smile, helpful, happy, and every other positive adjective you can think of to describe an excellent staff. From the front desk to the housekeeping folks - just superb! The room was a suite with a separate bedroom and very comfortable. If there was any downside it was that you could still hear people as they walked down the hall with their luggage and luggage cart squeaking and rumbling down the hallway to their room or the elevator.Room temperature is self controlled by thermostat which works very well - albeit a little louder than Id prefer (had to turn up the TV volume whenever the fan kicked on).I definitely will stay here again and highly recommend it to everyone - especially Veterans.
A very nice hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was outstanding. Sandy checked us in and a most polite and professional manner. Will came to our room to fix the television within minutes of calling for assistance. It would be extremely difficult to find a better value in lodging. We will be repeat customers at this location.Sincerely, JB
The hotel was newly renovated, but the workmanship was sloppy, with many paint splatters still on the room floors. The common areas/lobby smelled strongly of a smoky stale odor. My room was adjacent to the laundry room, where a machine badly in need of repair squeaked away loudly the entire night. The noise could be heard through the closed door. There was zero recognition for Platinum Elite member status upon check-in, but the process itself was fast. It was okay for a one-night stay, but I would not have stayed longer if I needed to, given there are plenty of other options in the area.
I book this room on my way home, I have stayed in the brand before and had a pleasant experience. This stay however was not a pleasant one...... I can overlook the fact that the room smelled like someones cooking and that there is no ice machine in the hotel, it is meant to be for long term stays. What I cannot overlook is a dirty room the bed had a bunch of hair in it and the comforter had a crusty yellow stain on it, I really wonder if the bed had been changed after the previous guest. The bathroom was somewhat clean except for the toilet which was covered in dried up urine stains, this almost made me sick to look at. I cleaned up the mess myself to make the room livable for the night as the front desk had previously mentioned the hotel was full and there was no chance of moving rooms. Also during my stay the Wireless internet would not work. I mentioned my problems to the front desk in the morning and she just apologized and shrugged it off, I personally think a little more shouldve been done. Definitely wont stay here again, I will probably avoid candlewood altogether.
My business partner selected this hotel because of the club rewards he earns. He made the reservation for two rooms in his name. When we arrived, my business partner checked in with no problem. When it was my turn, the hotel worker told me that she could not change the room into my name so I could get the rewards also. I advised her that the past four hotels were able to do this with no problem. She contacted someone on her phone to try to make it work but she had no luck.I checked in and went to my room. In the room, I noticed it was absolutely filthy. The room hadnt been vacuumed and looked like someone had only surfaced cleaned in a hurry. I went to use the water glass in the bathroom and found it had already been used and never was cleaned. I checked with my business partner and he had the same issue. I will NEVER stay at another Candlewood Suites again!!!!
We had never stayed at a Candlewood Hotel before but we were stuck and decided to take a chance booking it. We were so extremely pleased from check in to check out. The staff were genuinely friendly and very helpful. The suite was perfect. It was spotless, comfortable and the kitchenette was a fantastic plus. The check in service and check out was very fast. We will actually now be searching out Candlewood for our future travelling plans.
The beds are very comfortable, the room and bathroom were clean. The water pressure in the shower is amazing! Overall, the only negative was that the stairs were a little dirty, but it was raining and muddy outside, so hard to keep clean with people in and out. Nicky at the front desk was friendly and helpful.
We had driven 600 miles and were exhausted. We had booked a room with a king size bed. When we entered our room it was evident we didnt have a king size bed. My husband went back to the front desk. The clerk then gave us a different room that was supposed to have a king bed. We moved our luggage to the new room only to discover it wasnt a king bed. It was late and we needed to get up early the next day so we just went to bed. It wasnt a restful nights sleep as my husband is 6 5 tall and doesnt fit in a regular size bed. We got up early as we had another long day of driving again and felt sleep deprived. It was a very uncomfortable and frustrating stay. We wont be staying at this hotel again!
The staff at this hotel is superb!!Front desk: Tia, Manny, Michael, Nicki, and Lu the operations manager always smiling and asking if there is anything they can do.Nikki the manager has always tried to accomadate me when it comes to my ever changing work schedule.Denise the Sales director is a real doll. The housekeeping staff is pleasant.Pedro the maintenance man, always smiling and also asking is everything ok
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Food was available close by. Since it was late that was a nice bonus. It was a Good night. The hotel is fabulously clean. I made a mistake on my first review by hitting a one instead of a five. Also, Manny at check in and Mike at check out were superb in their jobs.
I highly recommend this hotel if staying in the Syracuse area. The staff is friendly and accomodating. The full kitchen comes in very handy and the location gives quick access to everything. The parking lot is ample without being too large for walking/carrying. We feel like we are coming home when we stay here!
Upon arrival the staff was very friendly and helpful but to my surprise this hotel being a 4 star rated hotel you will not get the 4 star experience. The small hotel lobby floor was very dirty, carpet has multiple stains on it with a slight odor, another guest was standing right at the front door smoking which I did not appreciate, Im a non-smoker and do not like to inhale smoke from anyones cigarettes. Once I finally made it to the room, I do have to say I was surprise by how clean the room was but the carpet on the floor was stained as well. This hotel should be rated as a 3 star hotel or lower.
We had never been there before, but we were pleasantly surprised to see what a great and quiet location the hotel had. The hotel rooms were very clean and the service was impeccable. Sandy and Mike at the front desk made sure we were doing well every time we saw them. Would come back next time!
The staff was attentive, especially Mike. We were always greeted as we walk past the front desk whether we were coming or going. The rate was phenomenal. We traveled to Syracuse for IVF at CNY fertility center, I have recommended this hotel to multiple support groups and people looking for a place to stay while they are traveling for this procedure as well. If by chance we must return to Syracuse in the near future, we will definitely be staying at the candlewood suites in East Syracuse.
The hotel staff were very nice but the hotel was in desperate need of cleaning/renovation/updating. The hallways on the first floor had a musty and faint urine smell. Our room smelled of smoke and the floors were so dirty we would not allow our 15 month old off the bed or out or her pack and play. We were scheduled to stay 2 nights but we checked out the after one night and went to another hotel. Being in the hotel business at one point in my life, I really felt for the staff having to face guests on a daily basis with the condition of the hotel. Ultimately management and the owners are responsible for the condition of the property, very disappointing.
This hotel is used as efficiencies. There are shady looking people loitering and I didn’t feel overly comfortable and safe. Also, COVID was not taken at all seriously, with no masks on staff of guests or sanitation/social distancing taking place. We left and checked in elsewhere.
We arrived at 1am, exhausted! Staff was alert, attentive and helpful. Even giving directions for our departure in the morning and offered to print us a map. We reserved a managers special and were given a 2 bedroom suite with 2 baths. This let us sleep in a little longer in the morning as we did not have to share a bath! Very nice upgrade! Great location, easy access to tollway! Great stay!
HIGHER MANAGEMENT: Honesty is the key... My experience this time was not the usual. I really prefer this hotel over many of my choices but I cannot say this after this stay. I was not happy at all honesty there is a serious concern I have on why this particular hotel does not have enough towels and washclothes to accommodate there guest. As a guest at any hotel I should never wait 1 day in a half to receive towels and wash clothes. This is a disgrace. I WANT TO BE VERY CLEAR>this is not the front desk fault or responsibility or housekeeping issue, this issue comes from higher management. I’m so not happy and disgusted that this would happen to me as a guest... On a much better note I would like to commend Nicole for being an awesome worker who went out of her way to wash my towels in my room even though I did not get them until the next day I truly appreciate it

The people were great and we realized that there was no formal breakfast option but a cupboard and have decided that we like the breakfast option and will search it out in the future. Our room did not have a coffee maker but the desk attendant offered to get one for us, we declined since we would be going out for breakfast. The location is a bit challenging and the round-about makes you happy to have navigator on your phone. It was at the right place to stop during our trip.
Everything you have come to expect from a Candlewood Suites minus a decent breakfast bar. You can get breakfast via vouchers but if you are looking for a decent breakfast this isn’t the place. I would like to say that the overall stay was very good and it was very quite at night and the amenities in the room were very good.
I enjoyed my recent stay at the candlewood east syracuse. Room was nice, clean, and comfortable, and affordable. Grounds were clean and safe and the hotel is in a quiet, convenient location. Was there on business and received and excellent corporate rate. Will definitely stay at this hotel mext time I am in syracuse on business.
This was my first time staying at a Candlewood suite.I am a long time Holiday Inn consumer. I stayed based on brand loyalty and using bonus points for one over night stay. The location was close to I90.The setting was quiet. The Candlewood does allow Pets which can be very nice if traveling with a Pet. I was not but am a pet owner.I will definitely use this hotel if I ever am traveling with my Dog. Kitchen was nicely appointed for a longer stay. The overall one bed room suite felt spacious. The towels were soft and upgraded. The suite appeared in good condition and was clean upon arrival. Building was quiet during my stay and I selpt well. Bed linens were slightly above average quality.
I’m all for fostering animals, but at a hotel right behind the desk? This was by far the worst IHG hotel I have ever stayed at. The lobby smelled like a combination of wet dog and an ashtray with fresh cigarette smoke. The whole hotel had a nasty smell to it. The floor of the hotel hadn’t been vacuumed since the previous occupants, the bed had women’s hair all over it and the bathroom was unusable for showers. I wouldn’t stay in this hotel again if you paid me $1,000,000.
The hotel is no frills, but it caters well to professionals who are in town for business. The staff is very accommodating and the location is convienient to businesses around Carrier Circle. If you dont need daily maid service then you can save a little money by getting a hotel room here. The rooms themselves are actually nice looking and the free bag of popcorn is always a plus.
Stayed here for 10 days. What a mess. First day checked in, our door keys never worked. We were told maintenance would take care of it. AC did not work correctly in our room. Again promised maintenance would fix it. Nope never did, gave us a fan that bearly worked. The floors were disgustingly dirty. They moved our room, still very dirty. There were pills on the floor under the recliner. My dog had it in her mouth, thankfully I got it out of her mouth. I actually called the hotel manager at home Sunday night. She seemed sympathetic. Met with her Monday morning, she promised to get us a better room, one that was cleaner. She comped our stay. We switched to a 3rd room in 3 days, and this room was a little better, but in one of the bathrooms there was blood on the back of the toilet, upon us getting into the room. We had 3 windows and only 1 window had a screen on it. I complained each time about these things. And it went on deaf ears. This hotel is pet friendly with a dog walking area. However there was another person staying there that had a pit bull that she let run loose outside of our room, we were on the bottom floor. And they dog dido its bathroom business outside our room. And it stunk so bad. I asked the front desk to do something about it, they said there was nothing they could do. They said they would let maintenance know, and once again nothing was done. My husband and son had to get a vacuum cleaner to vacuum the floor in our room. I have plenty of pictures and videos of this. There are 6 driers, and only 2 of them worked when I was there. A lady staying across from us, complained her room was filthy as well. I dont recommend staying here at all. It is a nightmare. Now there attorney called me. Threatening that if I post anything etc, they will file a lawsuit against me. Because they could not properly take care of this property. Stay away from this hell hole. Im not the only one that complained. Blood on the back of the toilet seat when we checked into the 3rd room. Non of the workers there wear uniforms. It is one big circus act. So here are pictures and videos of my family having to clean a room, that should of been cleaned. Im unable to post pictures and videos out here. But I did post them directly to there Facebook page.
The only good about this property was the Bed, it was comfortable. I can hear through the walls and the people next to me were up late and noisy. I could not sleep. Microwave surface light was not working, bathroom fan was not working. There were no dress hangers in the closet. Its a good value for your money, but still I will not stay in this property again.
Just had my second stay at the Candlewood Suites in Syracuse, NY and I left again completely satisfied on every level. The staff are friendly and extremely accommodating. The rooms are lovely, smell nice and bedding is super comfy. Complimentary iced tea and convenient food and healthy snacks are available for purchase. Signed, Happy Girl.
Our stay at Candlewood was very nice. My husband had a conference to attend, while I had lots of work to be done via computer. The room was clean. The exercise room was better than our apartment complex’s. The staff was helpful, Mike even made double sure we could stay as late as we needed. I’d stay again.
I booked this hotel because it was dog friendly. I have two dogs that I cherish. My husband and I checked in on Friday afternoon. We did our usual routine of walking the dogs and giving them snacks. We left for the rehearsal. We were gone 2 hours. Since the rehearsal dinner was at Justins around the corner, we stopped to check on the dogs and take them for a quick walk. As we were walking back to our room, the side door was still broken so we had to use the lobby entrance, some gentleman called out is she friendly and asked if we could come over. I took my other dog to the room because the heat bothers him and he gets skittish around people, and my husband walked over with our very friendly loveable awesome dog Miya who has never in 5 years had an altercation with another dog or human. The gentleman had a dog who was tied up to the gazebo. He began petting Miya and his dog broke free and jumped up and they began fighting. A woman knocked on my door (I was not aware of the happenings) and said Your dog is being massacred. I ran outside. My husband was lying on the grass on top of Miya. I ran over and grabbed her and brought her to the room. She had quite a few puncture marks but we calmed her down and she was okay. I only went to the dinner for 1 1/2 hours because I was worried about her. When I returned, the front desk clerk who was most of the time on facebook with another gentleman who works there, said I need to speak to you. Minutes later the police came, filled out a report, We were asked to leave the hotel. At 9:30 at night we had no place to go. We drove 3 hours back to Buffalo. We drove back to Syracuse in the morning for the wedding. We were completely inconvenienced. They said because our dogs barked, and because of the incident we were the ones asked to leave. We were also informed that we would be charged for the 5 hours at the hotel. My credit card was charged almost double of the rate I was told online. I called Nikki-Marie. She seemed to care, but really did not care at all. She credited my account. The next day a new charge was on my account. Ive called and left message after message, email messages, phone calls and she WILL NOT return my call. This is very unprofessional. 1). why was the gentleman not asked to leave? 2). When we pulled up there were the sounds of dogs barking everywhere. Dogs bark. 3), We were charged a night but spent less than 5 hours there and we were put out on the street with two dogs. The only people that felt bad were the police. The hotel staff could have cared less. Very inconsiderate, rude, and nasty. As it stands, I will never stay at another IHG property. I will make it my mission to spread the word about my treatment from Nikki-Mare, the hotel staff, the charges on my account which were never reversed as promised.
My stay in my room allowed me to feel as if I was almost in my own kitchen at home cooking my meal. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom facilities were large and clean. The living room area of The Suite was large and spacious. All in all I was very happy with my stay.
Had an unexpected stay there after my husband was admitted to Crouse Hospital. The hotel was about 15 minutes away but gave me the room at a special rate from the hospital. Much less expensive than the other hotels but it wasnt urgent that I needed to be close by. The staff was great. Big room with kitchenette which saved tonsbof money on eating out as I bought groceries. Highly recommend.
I travel a lot and this is one of the worst places Ive ever stayed in. I definitely wont be staying in a Candlewood again and will think twice about IHG in general. There was no lobby to speak of, just a series of locked doors. The hotel was dark and smelled bad. The room was dirty and dank. There were barely any towels or toilet paper in the room. It felt like a halfway house, not a hotel. There are a bunch of other hotels in this area; if I hadnt arrived so late at night after a full day of travel, I definitely would have scrapped my reservation and gone elsewhere.
No, not the town, the employee.First, all the staff was exceptional. They took care of me, and the group I was with, and got to know us. Austin must have been an acrobat in a previous life, because he bends over backwards to make a guest happy. This stay was over two months ago, and I remember his name. (And he likes 5 hour energy!)The room was great. A bit beat up, but no more than any extended stay. They tend to suffer more as guest have a lot longer to mess the place up. It was clean, large, comfy, and safe. Thats really all I need. Kitchenette was nice. I liked the lending closet where you could borrow things like a toaster oven or a board game.Towel exchange was exceptionally easy. I hate going to an extended stay and you wait at the desk an hour for a towel. Or theyre perpetually in the dryer. Go to the desk he, and its folded and waiting for you!The gym was adequate. Im a big lifter, to me the gym is an. Important detail in a review, especially at an extended stay. Dumbbell sets in 5 lb incriments up to 40 pounds (a little light, up to 50 would be nice) an adjustable bench, roman chair, and the standard anemic cardio equipment. (The tread by the window is off a little on the display, if you need a bit of an ego boost, use that one!). Always had towels and water. One complaint, please guys put a new battery in the clock. All in all, if youre in East Syracuse, dont stay anywhere else...
The hotel was a good place to stay and was recently updated. The staff was friendly and the parking lot was well lit. While I was only here one night, it was comfortable. They offered some free things out of the cupboard for breakfast, that was nice, I think it was due to the construction probably, Im not sure. I will stay again when I come back.
Checking in and out was very odd and unconventional due to systems being down. It was concerning that there didnt appear to be a backup plan for such an event. I also never received a receipt for my stay at time of check out because of this. I was asked to be emailed a copy of such and havent received. When I checked in, the wrong room was on the receipt I signed (had reserved two king bed 2 bedroom suite but receipt stated 2 queen bed). Although the room did end up being what was reserved. It was also obvious that front desk staff were frustrated with systems down, except for staff at check-out who were handling the situation much better. There was also one wash cloth for the room.
I had stayed at another hotel nearby a few nights earlier and knew I did not want to go back there again. So, i booked with candlewood as it was en route home and allowed dogs. I didnt need very much, but I was so happy to see how clean the remodeled room was. It was cozy, and both the dog and i slept well. The staff was very friendly. When I go back, I will definitely stay there again.
This is an attractive and well maintained property. The staff is attentive. The hotel is convenient to the NY Thruway, Carrier Corp offices and area restaurants for thru travelers. Unfortunately, the owners purchased the lowest quality and noisiest room ventilation units Carrier could build. The noise was intolerable unless you bring earplugs or have no need for sleep.
We booked this hotel because they were dog friendly. I needed a place to stay for my sons wedding. We drove up from Buffalo NY. We checked in at 3 pm. After letting the dogs out to do their business we left for the rehearsal dinner. We came back at 6 to check on them and let them out again. During that time our dog got into a fight with another dog who broke his leash. We cleaned Miya up and other than puncture wounds she seemed fine. We went back to the dinner until 830 pm. When we got back we were told were being kicked out. We left and having no place to go we went back to buffalo. We spent a total of 5 hours in the hotel and they charged my account $240.00. I asked why....she said because the barking (Is this not a dog friendly hotel?) Dogs bark. Mind you when we pulled up there were a lot of dogs barking. Its unfair. Looks like a law suit in the future and Im really good at making sure people dont waste their time at a place like this.
Arrived to a pleasant front desk person who seemed knowledgeable of the process.Entered our room to a stifling 95 degree temperature. Ran the AC for an hour to get it down to 88 degrees. Turned off heat, never got below 80 degrees all night. It was 14 degrees outside.Front Desk person pointed out the internet access codes however when in the room, did not work. Went back to the front desk to see if the password was incorrect, waited behind another person with the same issue, only to be informed the Wifi was not working and would be back up in an hour. Never was repaired and at checkout the next morning, still no Wifi.Kids running upstairs most of the night, very noisy. refrigerator in room very noisy. First and last time staying at a Candelwood Suites. There are 10-12 other hotels within 1/2 mile of this place, better to find another.
The room had a terrible smell, and the furniture, with the exception of the bed, was uncomfortable. The hotel does not have a pool on site but offers access to the pool next door which is not what I was looking for. My overall experience was terrible. What was going to be five nights ended up being one. I left as soon as I could!
The desk staff was as helpful as possible. Desk personnel tried to be as accommodating as they could be. The first room I was assigned to obviously was occupied by a previous guest who smoked. I requested another room. It was late in the evening when I checked in and the second room I was assigned to had an obvious odor of cooked fish. I suffered through the night and then purchased 2 large air fresheners the next morning.
We used to stay in Rochester, NY until we stayed here last week. Our mind is now changed! When travelling across NY State we will now stay at the Candlewood Suites in Syracuse. Such a great and positive experience when travelling with our dogs. VERY clean, quite, pet friendly and hospitable.
The most important factor for me for a business stay are the people. The employees here were great. They cared, were attentive to my needs and made me feel welcome. The property is a little tired, and in need of an upgrade. The room, however, was clean, spacious and met my needs. Thanks. I will return.
Ok, we can be a little picky when it comes to where we sleep, and online hotel booking is always scary for me. We arrived and found the Hotel to be mby a little worn at the edges, but very clean. When we stepped into the room, I felt relieved. A 1 bedroom suite, king sized bed, comfortable living room area and a kitchen with full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, dishes, glasses and silverware. All this at a bargain price.I judge hotels by 3 points..Clean, Quiet and Comfortable. All three hands down. First time I can remember feeling sad that I wasnt staying longer. All in all, worth more than I paid. Will look for one of these on our next trip.
On behalf of brother and myself ,we were shock that our rooms was not cleaned .This hotel didnt meet our expectations or even come close. The hotel is in need of update.Bathroom and air condition needed mantaince .Totally disappointed and will never stay here or any candlewood suites hotels. Fresh towels and clean rooms are essential for a pleasant hotel experience .
I had to spend an extended amount of time away from home and brought my dog with me. The Staff is what made this experience a good one. All of the staff worked with me when I was working odd hours. They were very personable and were always willing to talk. They were also very flexible when plans changed and helped make my stay easier.
We stayed over one night while passing through the area. This hotel is a little dated (older kitchen cabinets, etc.) but was clean and comfortable. We redeemed points for our stay but were not offered the water/points at check in. We asked about it when checking out at which time staff apologized and corrected the situation. It was not problem, but had we not redeemed points in the past we would not have known to ask about this and would have lost out on the points.
We stayed for 2 nights this past weekend. Originally booked for one night but due to weather needed to extend. Booking an additional night was no problem. Suite was large, clean and very comfortable.Tia & Mike at front desk were very helpful.Cupboard is a nice service. Has just about anything you could need.Definitely will stay here again

2022-03-18My Husband and i have been at this hotel since the beginning of January. We have been here at the beginning of some remodeling. And by looking at previous reviews its seems like they are listening to what people have to say and making some changes i believe they are also in the process of getting new carpet which would help out as well appearance wise. It is an older hotel but they are working on making it nicer. The fact that they are making improvements by the reviews and what people are saying makes a big difference for me as i am a picky guest. The huge positive is they have a kitchen with a stove large fridge and a decent amount of counter space the beds are very comfortable the shower head has great water pressure the laundry is free. I take in consideration that the hotel is older so things break the repair guy came in at a timely manner to fix any issues. At the beginning of our stay they were very low staffed along with every business right now. They have hired some new people that seem knowledgeable and friendly. Most of the people here in the end have been very accommodating and for that we will come back if we are in the area.

2022-02-01This place is a dump. Avoid at all cost I made a mistake and booked at this one instead of the one near the airport. With that said, bed was comfortable if you have to stay here, and the plumbing worked fine. The refrigerator (king suite) was loud. . I could go on...

2022-06-12Common areas were dirty and beaten up, kitchen area of the room was also dirty. Bathroom smelled like mildew and had loose fixtures.

2021-11-12I was surprised the room came with a full kitchen and ice maker in the fridge. I was able then to get some things for breakfast while out to dinner and fix them in the morning. The Front Desk staff was very friendly and accommodating to suggest Delmonicos Steak House for dinner and it was excellent ! I would definitely stay here again. Great Value, comfortable bed and room and good service.

2022-01-14Ive had some good luck with Candlewood Suites, but not this one. First of all, the main entrance was closed and there was a very vague sign regarding where one would actually have to go to check in. My husband and I went around the building a couple of times only to find a door (which was not marked) that I tried which eventually led me to a room where they were handling check-ins temporarily. After dragging our stuff up to the 2nd floor, we found that our key cards would not work (neither of them) so we requested a new set which also didnt work. Finally, they decided that the lock on our room probably wasnt any good so they moved us to another room. Best of all was the fact that at 7:30 AM the next day, jackhammers and other assorted loud construction noises started -- it sounded as though they were doing construction right next door but it was actually right beneath us. When we called to complain the office said, essentially: Too bad. I am really getting tired of hotel websites NOT alerting travelers to the fact that construction will be going on doing your stay. Clearly they do not want you to know since you would find another hotel. The room was ok but overall the place was shabby and the management couldnt care less about whether you could find the entrance (or not), if your key cards worked and whether or not you would like to sleep past 7:30 AM. As Bette Davis said in an old movie: What a dump!

2021-12-14This hotel is very blue collar. Nothing is truly bad about the hotel, its just very worn. To the scuffed paint in the hallway walls, the grease and scuff marks on the doors, to the cleaning lady that walks down the halls yelling at an imaginary boss, yeah this place is great! I think the piece of resistance was the dead bug in the bathroom. That was hot. Also, we had no remote in the room. We asked for another one and we were given one with no back to hold the batteries, so the front staff used Scotch Tape. Nothing but class here at Candlewood Suites. If you need a place to sleep, and thats it. Then stay here.

2021-09-15Easy place to find. I liked that we could cook in the room and there are all the items you need for doing that. While I did not sleep well, the bed was comfy and I like the choice between a firm or soft pillow.I wish there was a guide on the TV instead of needing to channel surf because I always seemed to hit the commercials so I never really knew what was on.Since I work on cross stitching, I found the lighting less than desirable, but found a way to light up the room and make it work.the staff was very helpful and accommodating and never treated me with anything but kindness and politeness. I felt safe and the parking was easy and free.Guests must be aware that there is no housekeeping for short stays, but you can get fresh towels if needed.

2022-01-02Positive: There was a lot of room for a family of 6. Pet friendly Negative: Room was dirty, no housekeeping. Our trash was overflowing from staying 4 nights. Our keys had to be reprogrammed twice. Our room had two separate bedrooms however one bedroom door would not shut.

2021-09-04The location and cleanliness and safety are all tops. Lots of local delicious restaurants. Dog friendly. This last stay was ruined by a non operating TV that despite a replacement remote, would not change from the initial screen, which glared into our otherwise excellent room, all night, repeatedly interrupting our sleep. It was too late to change rooms. We were quite upset that the last cleaning staff failed to note that the TV was on and that they should had the problem addressed before room was rented out! It obviously did not help us when reception told us that their engineer would fix the TV the next day, after we were long gone.
