Candlewood Suites Syracuse-Airport, an IHG Hotel in Syracuse

Rooms are clean. Standard hotel fair with the only notable addition being a kitchenette (stove, dishwasher, small fridge. No in-house resturant, if you want a full meal you need to shop or order delivery, they do have a small overpriced selection of snack items by the desk. Worth staying as a lower-mid range pass-through, or if you need to use the airport. Dont come expecting anything memorable. Painfully average.
This hotel looks good on the outside but the the rooms need serious updating. Kitchen cupboards are from the 80s era. More distressing was the unpleasant and very stale smell of the room. Checked in after a long drive in a snow storm and didnt complain to the desk clerk who looked overwhelmed already.
DONT STAY HERE!!! This hotel scammed me out of $100. Said they price was ~$86 online and at the front desk. My bill came back $100 more and they said they couldn’t help me. The room was outdated and ugly as well. Not worth what they charged me at all. The front desk guy is smug and unhelpful. Save yourself and stay somewhere else.
The attitude of the staff I had contact with was excellent. They understand what customer recognition is. Ashley was an excellent company representative showing concern for her guests. While I failed to get her name, the early morning lady also recognized me as a guest and thanked me for using Candlewood.
The guest service people were great. The corporate on other hand—raised rates because two people damaged two rooms that were working on same job, as about half the hotel. They punished everyone for two POS. Housekeeping was not good at all. Room never got mopped or swept. Had to borrow mop and vacuum from cleaners to do our own room. Other than that, it wasn’t bad. Will recommend hotel and will try once more later on.
My wife and I stayed here on our way back from vacation and this place was disgusting. It started with the entire place looking like it needed remodeled or maybe someone was thinking about doing it and never did. They had large rugs randomly placed in hallways so people would not trip over the carpet that was torn and ripped up. The walls looked like they were partially done but nobody was finishing them. Then we got into the room which was extremely out dated and the bathroom sink was all stained up and damaged. Then I went to get into bed and while it looked like new sheets were placed on it and it was made up. I found popcorn and hair on the sheets uner the blankets which is completely disgusting. I had to request new linens from the front desk and make my own bed. Then I discovered the pillows were all stained, as well. My white socks also turned black from walking on the floors inside my room. Second Candlewood on the same trip that was filthy never staying at them again.
We arrived at 8pm to find the parking lot completely full when I asked the front desk clerk where we could park he tells me that the airport shuttle will b returning soon so to wait on my car til it returns and the spot opens then after waiting 30 mins I had to fight with 3 other cars to get the spot that just opened then get to room that we reserved on hotels own site for a one bedroom with sofa sleeper as we had 3adults but they put us in a room with one queen bed when I went back to desk I was told that was the room I reserved so had to bring up email of confirmation to show the clerk the room I reserved he tells me we are full so that’s your room they gave me a small roll away bed was told he would leave note for manager to see if they could do something for the inconvenience still waiting to hear from them
We arrived late afternoon to stay overnight for an early morning flight. We asked the front desk for dinner suggestions and the place they suggested was fantastic. The shuttle drivers to the airport were both great but the driver who picked us up after our flight was fantastic.
This is a great place of you travel for work. Staff was very accommodating and very friendly. I always seen someone cleaning as well. At all hours. Laundry was free which is a bonus when being away for weeks at a time. Also just a very clean facility. I have to say kudos to the staff... you work hard and it shows at how well the hotel is maintained.
I have been here for 4 nights so far and I am extremely impressed by the girls up front. They are so sweet and helped me with directions and where to eat etc. Super nice and very friendly. Spoke to the General Manager today and I raved about the girls and told her next time I come for work classes I will definitely be coming here. Thank you girls for your hospitality and will see you again. K. Evans
We dont live far away but we like to take a couples weekend when possible and normally we stay in Syracuse so Ive been to almost all of the IHG hotels nearby.I picked this one honestly because it had the best price and we dont spend a ton of time at the hotel. This location was new to us.First thought walking in, I thought it smelled like cigarette smoke which Im not a fan of. I think its because people smoke right outside the door and the smoke sits there in the lobby. I get it, how do you make guests go away from the door but that was my initial thought. The woman behind the desk was super nice and like most IHG locations the staff in my experience is always helpful. In this case, we had 2 reservations, one paid and one in points and they made sure we were in the same room each night.Got my room preference of first floor (thank you) and walked in. Room was nice, fit the bill for what we wanted w the fridge, bed, bathroom. Here is where I would like to make two recommendations to the owner, #1. The tub that I stepped in felt like I was going to fall through it. It lacked basic support underneath and was unsteady as you moved. Im 48 and healthy as a horse, this tub would not be good for someone older with poor balance. The lack of support causes the tub to make squeaking noises as you move from front to back.Room 119 I believe, I would take a look at it sooner rather than later. I had a video of it but it wouldnt upload, just hop in the tub, youll see what I mean right away.#2. The design of this room is odd. (See picture) Im no interior decorator, but there is a 1 ft pathway on one side of the bed, and the other side has a ton of room, including a chair. At night when I went to take off my glasses I have to put them on the floor along w my glass of water. Id prefer a small night stand please. Also, that 1 ft pathway is not big enough for a vacuum cleaner to fit into, so how is that side of the bed getting cleaned properly?A chair next to the bed is nice, but not a necessity, so if you got rid of the chair or moved it, you could slide the bed over and now both people could have a night stand to use. The chair also covers up the one electrical outlet on that side of the room, not sure why its there. Just a suggestion to consider.Thank you for our stay, your staff was great.
We stayed here because we needed a pet friendly hotel near the airport. It was fine for our need of a one night stay, but the room definitely needs updating, and some extra elbow grease on the cleaning. The bathroom was fine, and the bed, but the kitchen area could have been cleaner. The wall by the garbage can was dirty with food splashed on it, some sugar or salt spilled in the cabinet. The walls all needed cleaning or better yet painting. Overall it was fine for what we needed. Definitely wouldnt stay here for a longer stay
Having stayed at this propety before makes it a bit more comfortable. Tracy, our host, and her staff made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. All of the staff we encountered were wonderful! Great nights sleep in rooms that were tidy and clean. Looking forward to being back home in 2020.
The hotel rooms are absolutely not worth what is currently being charged. The the rooms are in a desperate need of renovation. It does not look like it has been updated in 20 years. Our Queen size bed was jammed up against the wall in the corner of the room, so every time I got up I had to crawl to the bottom of the bed. The setup was absolutely ridiculous. I cannot recommend this hotel at this time. The setup of the room was extremely inconvenient.. The light in the bathroom above the mirror was out and it was very difficult to shave and for my wife to put on make up.
Not easy to find property two times we stayed. Poor signage and you must drive through two other parking areas belonging to another hotel to reach Candlewood Suites. Staff very nice.Property is old and needs a lot of updating in bathroom and kitchen. However bed, bedding and towels very nice. TV and WiFi good.
This property is near the airport and had a lot of guests. It was still quiet in my room. The laundry is free, which means packing less. The suite had a small and functional kitchen. The free shuttle will take you to and from a variety of restaurants, however most are easily walk-able. There is plenty of parking, and they are pet friendly - for a fee. It would be nice if they served breakfast, and it can be spendy depending on the season and the specific time of year - think Syracuse University graduation or start of the school year time frame.
I have stayed at many hotels and have to say this one stands out simply based on the friendliness of the staff.Ive stayed at Candlewood a few occasions for an extended weekend and each time our stay exceeded all expectations. The rooms are clean and well appointed. Both the studio rooms and the 1 bedroom suites have nice kitchens. The 1 bedroom suits have a great amount of room, a nice living room and a huge desk to work at.There is free laundry! The staff was friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The hotel can use a bit of refreshing, but at the price I paid for the room I have no complaints.
From the minute I walked in the door I felt welcomed. The front desk staff was friendly and quick to process my paperwork and provide the room key as well as explaining how the airport shuttle worked. My room was so clean and the bed very comfortable. The shuttle was waiting for me bright and early at 4:15 am and was already at the airport for me when my flight returned. I would only consider staying here when flying out of Syracuse again. Thank you so much for helping to make this portion of my travels so pleasant!
Nothing major to complain about. The staff was friendly. The entire facility was clean. The bed was comfortable. The appliances functioned. When I book a Candlewood Suites, I expect the little studio apartment style room and thats exactly what I got. Admittedly, the stylings of the building and room were a little dated but that doesnt really impact the quality of my stay.I plan to come back and look forward to having enough time to utilize the kitchen to the fullest extent.
We decided to come to Syracuse for a quick get away before we pick up our new puppy in June. We have stayed at the Candlewood for almost 12 years or when they first built it. It is a wonderful hotel. Each room has a kitchen area with fridge so take out or groceries work, Beds are okay depends on what your used to sleeping on at home. Very friendly staff and very welcoming. Also very Clean... Great get away (we live 2 hours away) and good place to stay lots of activities in the area ... LOVE this hotel.
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Quiet. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The carpets in the hallways were buckled and not clean. Runners here and there over bad areas to prevent trippong. Elevator floor also dirty. Room showed a lot of wear...ie:. Chipped cupbosrds.
After I was settled in to this room I realized some of the dishware was used and not cleaned, the dishwashing brush seemed as if it had been used for polishing shoes, there was no dish towel, dish rag, OR SHOWER CURTAIN. I had to wipe down all surfaces. The rug was dirty, the bed blanket partly gone underneath the cover for it, and the HVAC vents were completely filthy. The frying pan was unusable. The staff was quite responsive to help replace items that were missing, Andrew, in particular.I like to stay at a Candlewood Suites, however I would not stay here again.
This facility is not up to the usual IHG property standards. The carpet in the hall was old and torn. The doorway paint was chipped and damaged. The bathroom had someone else’s hair on the sink and floor. There was a burn on the kitchenette counter. Only one spoon available for use in kitchen.
We had a queen suite which gave us all some privacy as we were a couple and one mother. There was comfortable seating in living dinner area before hideabed pulled out . The kitchen had a good sized refrigerator to store our food and everything we needed for simple meal prep was provided. Our small dogs were allowed which made staying here nicer.
Regular routine cleaning would have probably maintained this facility in a cleaner, well maintained condition but it is not! Staff are friendly but appears management has not trained or inadequately oversees their daily chores in relation to cleanliness and structure maintenance. Building looked of a decent age but inside told the story of a facility in great need of maintenance and renovation.
The old adage of you get what you pay for applies. Positives: The hotel check in/check out staff we interreacted with were great - friendly and attentive and the room was cheap. Noon checkout let me work in the afternoon and we had a nice desk setup in our room to work remotely. Negatives: The hallways and elevators reeked of smoke, the rooms are very outdated and in need of a remodel. Our bathroom exhaust fan was detached from the ceiling and barely hanging on. The bathroom was unclean. Floors and corners were dirty and the dispenser was out of conditioner. The beds were too firm but thats a personal preference. Also no free breakfast options. Weve got recurrent visits to Syracuse for medical treatments and will look elsewhere for future visits.
I got a weekend special at the lasy minute before a flight out the next day. However, the bathroom was not clean. There were long hair on the floor, shower walls and the sink. If this is COVID clean, as the note says, there is mixh much to be desired.Otherwise, check in was fine and the bed was clean and comfortable. Rooms are dated though and could use and update (at least paint).
I thought since this was an IHG hotel it was going to be ok. I was wrong. Aside from the friendly staff everything about this place was awful. The room smelt like stale smoke, the toilet was dirty, everything looked like it was from the 90’s and there were some sketchy long term residents. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Holiday Inn next door.
This a review for candlewood suites on bay road. Near the airport. I was most then happy plus surprised. I would highly recommend this hotel. For families and couples. Of course singles. It’s clean and well keep up. Outdated some. The wiring is all outlets . Which is fine. No USB. See the work trucks. They are doing a great job. Trying to get good staff to run some new crews too. Updating what can be done (now) with out raising cost. Free coffee tea ect. 24 hours. The kitchens are fully stocked with what you would need. I was happy about that. Ice makers ect. I had only a regular queen room. Hopefully I can get a suite to check out later. But the staff was friendly and helpful. Stayed longer because of that. Be back. 10 out 10 for handicap friendly
One bedroom suite was perfect for our needs as husband needed a recliner to be able to put his feet up. The room had a nice kitchenette with an island to eat on for a late dinner after traveling all day. The van driver picked us up at the airport and offered to take us to any area fast food restaurants which was a godsend because airlines don’t serve food anymore during COVID. He was very thoughtful and saved me a trip back out after a very long day. The hotel itself was very clean and convenient to the airport. All safety precautions were evident. I would definitely stay there again.
The staff at this location is excellent. The staff member at the front desk was friendly and helpful. She offered to help us with shuttle service for my early morning flight and ensured we were well-informed concerning the hotel amenities. She also found a room as close to the exit as possible because my partner and I were traveling with our dog.
I had an amazing time there. I spent 7 months straight there and it felt like home. Service was great. Staff were always helpful with anything I needed! Free Washer n drying were a major plus and rlealky helped out. Rooms were great with the kitchenette. Would recommend to anyone looking for a long or short term stay
My wife and I just traveled to Panama, Price line did not tell us that our flights were canceled! The staff at Candlewood adjusted our stay until we could get new COVID tests and sent us to the right place to get the right test, thank you DEWITT Town Hall!. We ended up staying until the 7th of January and we also used the Park and Fly where their Shuttle took us without complaint again and again to the airport and picked us up multiple times while we tried to work out the ticket issue. Now, we have returned and the Shuttle picked us up and brought us to our vehicle which was in excellent condition, what a great and wonderful and terrific staff they have! All of them are so wonderful, they saved our vacation, thank you!
This is a very nice hotel, lots of extras at no charge.Clean room, bed and linens. We stayed 2 nights.Enjoyed them both. Cook your own meals or go to a restaurant not far away. Grocery store very close too.Dishwasher, and nice stove top, big fridgeSo close to airport , makes end of travel super easy.3 mins from hotel you are at the airport.Staff very friendly and helpful. Will stay here again.
I was very hesitant to stay in a hotel, but my family wasnt allowing people to sleep at their house. I needed a suite in order to separate myself from my parents so the suite was perfect. There was a kitchen incase you wanted to cook. We got upgraded to the handicap suite which had more room. Shower was amazing. Pull out sofa wasnt great but it did the job. Breakfast was not served but they did have coffee. Masks were required in the hotel which made me very happy. It was a booked hotel but I didnt see anyone which was also good. Room was definitely outdated, but otherwise I felt safe.
I reserved an accessible room. A larger then normal bathroom, grab bars and a good down bench in the tub alone doesnt always make a room accessible to a person who is mobility impaired. There was a tub and the bed was ridiculously high, higher than in the regular room we had for my daughter and her children. To make the room more accessible to someone who is mobility impaired a lower bed and a large walk-in shower with a bench would have been much better. - Aside from the above however overall the hotel was decent, clean and affordable. One staff member, at the desk when I called July 2nd or 3rd (morning), went above and beyond to be helpful and got me an extra room when we had a change of who was coming along to lend me hand. When we checked in the young lady there arranged to get us a fold up bed too.
I had a great experience on this Hotel, usually I chose to stay on Candlewood , because I love to cook my food, but this time I reserved the suite, to my surprise is big and extremely comfortable. If you can go for the suite, do it, believe me its a great experience and gym is small but will perfectly help with any exercise you need to do.My stay was for a business trip, but I would gladly return for pleasure visit.
Yes, this place is close to the airport. That’s the only thing good I can say about it. The walls are paper thin. I could hear the woman next to me cough all night long. Carpet is coming off floor. Has not been updated in easily 20 years. Signs in parking lot warn that hotel is not responsible for theft. Don’t stay here.
Rooms are nice size and layout is nice. Nice shower pressure to relax by. Customer service upon check in and having multiple copies of the bill for checkout ready for me was great...didnt have to stand around and wait. Having complimentary cookies was great even though they were gone quickly and didnt get any, but an added touch. Did use the fitness room, but there wasnt any hand sanitizer and or wipes to clean machines, but overall good. Thanks mate my stay a nice 1.
I stayed at the candlewood for over 6 months for business and Im glad I did. The customer service was awesome. They treated me like family and that really helped while I was not at home for a long period of time. Anything I needed was right there all I had to do was ask. The rooms were nice and had a perfect kitchen so I could actually cook instead of eat microwave food. The price is good with everything thats included. And never had an issue with cleanliness. Thank you everyone at the Candlewood! I will miss you all.
My son is attending a university in NY. Because we are from a restricted state, he was required to quarantine for 14 days. This is the first child I have sent off to college and doing this during a pandemic has been extra emotional. Candlewood was perfect for our needs. They picked him up from the hotel and shuttled him to get his supply of groceries. The room was spacious and meet his needs. It was clean and quiet. The staff was very helpful and reassuring in these unknown times. Thank you from this Mama Bear.
Candle wood Inn by the Syracuse Airport made my trip easier and saved me parking fees. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The room was clean. I was able to park my car in the parking lot and ride the shuttle to the airport. My car was safe when I returned 8 days later. I would definitely stay here again.
Weather forced me to remain in Syracuse instead of flying and Im so glad I stayed here - I got really friendly service, a clean and comfortable room, and just a pleasant stay overall. I checked out after one night but had to stay a second night because the weather was still bad, and I was able to get back in my original room with no problems before the normal check-in time. This place has some nice touches like the free coffee in the Cupboard, the soft towels, and the normal-sized bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel in the bathroom. I was really happy with my stay here and would recommend it to anyone needing a hotel in Syracuse.
Dont expect this to be one of the nicer properties. The rooms are quite dated. The cheap laminate flooring and used car sales office style carpeting are very telling. Youll need field glasses to see the little tvs too. While it did seem to be clean, the bed is also a disappointment, as compared to most of the Holiday Inn Express rooms Ive stayed in.Lastly, I was somewhat shocked by the vocal Trump supporter at the front desk, who didnt seem to care about the face mask regulations. I generally try to keep my political leanings out of my business dealings, and appreciate when others do as well.
I was panicked when overnight snow accumulation was predicted when I had a morning flight out of syracuse. Made last minute decision to stay there and take shuttle to airport. It was perfect. Snow ended up being nothing but I had good night sleep knowing I did not have to drive in snow in morning. Shuttle was perfect
The Candlewood inn was clean and 1.5 miles from airport. The check in was quick and informative. The room was clean, but it had a slight cigarette smoke smell and it was a nonsmoking room. The transport driver was prompt and very nice. He got us to airport in plenty of time.
Weve stayed at Candlewood properties several times, including this one. The door wasnt locked when we arrived; the door cards didnt work; the entrance light was strobing - the manager said someone would fix it, but we ended up taking down the fixture and removing the bulb. None of the dishes were put away - they were all in the dishwasher. There was only one bowl for the two of us. The door cards failed a second time, and the manager said we were only entered for one night instead of the 3 from my reservation. The toilet leaked and never flushed properly. We were in room 327.
We picked this hotel because of the convenient location. It’s close to the airport and many restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable. We loved the small kitchen to prepare a simple breakfast. The staff was helpful and always wore masks which made us happy. We’d definitely stay here again.
We only stayed one night before an early morning flight, and I would describe the stay as average. What stood out most on the pro side was the great front desk service, although our experience was limited to check-in and check-out interactions. Nevertheless, I have to comment on how courteous, patient, and professional the front desk staff were. On the con side...these rooms could use a facelift and more accessible bedside outlets. I would say for the area, the value is good and lower than some surrounding, comparable hotels. However, I think this is because the rooms arent as new. Bed was average, rooms with adjustable digital thermostats are always nice, and I thought the room was sufficiently clean.
The comfortable bed and soft towels were the only plus of this hotel. Guests checking in were not asked to wear masks and as I was waiting to be checked in, another guest who was checking in, opened a beer and began drinking it. I was told there was no smoking allowed at all anywhere in the hotel, but there was a strong scent of cigarette smoke throughout the hotel. There was a hair in one of my towels, another one on the bathroom floor and another one in my bathroom sink. There was something splattered/smeared (that I honestly do not want to know what it was) on the bathroom wall in front of the toilet. There was no power outlet next to the nightstand.
First of, actually do what you have written on paper. CLEAN. That room was DIRTY!! The wall switches were black with dirt. The fridge door was black with dirt, the back splash, side of the cabinet, walls and cabinet doors were full of crud, old food and dirt. That bathroom had hair from the last guest(s) and I didnt feel comfortable even touching anything in the room. Even the outside of the door and door handle getting into the room was gross. Youre promoting clean for Covid but I dont think you understand the concept of how to clean. If the staff isnt cleaning rooms that guests are already in they should have PLENTY of time to do a good job and clean a room once someone has left. The gal at the front desk came and attempted to clean some of the mess, but what got me was the fact she cleaned the fridge, counter, walls, bathroom floor, toilet, sink and facet handles with the same rag. (in that order too) Then went back to the kitchen to clean the sink and counters there again with the same rag. Im not planning on touching something, like a faucet and light switch that I watched the same rag, minutes before clean the floor around the toilet!!!I used the full roll of paper towels in my next room as I didnt want to touch anything and sure didnt put anything on a counter top. I wasnt afraid of Covid, I was afraid for germs, dirt and hygiene. Forgetting about the lack of hygiene, my other complaint was the toilet seat was broken. Maintenance attempted to fix it more than once but when its just not able to screw on tighter maybe do a replacement. Sliding off the toilet when I want to sit down doesnt sound fun or like something that should happen if the staff is doing a better job. If you dont care about hygiene and live in a barn, this is your hotel. Otherwise, steer clear.
Just don’t stay here. For this property, you definitely get what you pay for. Hotel is definitely dated with no attempt to “spruce it up”. Room was very small, not what I’ve stayed in at Candlewood Suites. At first glance, room seemed clean. But after spending time there, we found questionable stains on the comforter and definite spots of blood (we found it on our last night of a 4 night stay so I felt it was too late to complain). We flipped the comforter over and upside down to put the stains at the foot of the bed. Bathroom was clean but shower could’ve used some more pressure; however, we never ran out of hot water. It did not live up to the excellence standards I’ve had at other properties. Groups of men hanging out in the parking lot late at night. Lady working front desk at night was friendly but seemed to be constantly spraying some cheap smelling room spray that took your breath when you walked in. Room had a constant musty and dirty smell. Pro: full size fridge. I travel with medications that must stay cold and I was able to do that plus keep my ice packs frozen for on the go transportation of them. Quiet area of town. Don’t expect much quality stay here. An average rating is too generous in my opinion.
We have traveled to many states and have stayed in a variety of hotels but nothing compares to Candlewood Suites! Candlewood has everything youd hope to receive in booking, staying and comfort. We appreciate the cleanliness, convenience and overall atmosphere of these hotels. The rooms are not your average room either....they are very spacious!! Also, the convenience of a kitchen to access in your own room is a wonderful bonus! The staff at Candlewood have always been the best!, On one occasion, our son became sick in the middle of the night and the stafff completely understood and were awesome in their willingness to provide help with supplies and cleanup. Most professional and courteous! We love Candlewood Suites and highly recommend booking each and every stay with them!
Clean, pleasant, great bed and pillows. Room temperature easy to manage. I mainly needed a clean place to rest prior to airflight. Stay and park was great. I missed the shuttle on return trip because of delays with late arrival at 0120am. Difficult but not your fault. I use this facility whenever I fly early morning flights or have very late arrivals. Thank you.
The staff we encountered was friendly and helpful. The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. The proximity to the airport was convenient, but it was far enough so that the airport noise was non-existent. Although we didnt use the Park and Ride my companion has and it is excellent. All in all, I would definitely stay at Candlewood Siutes again and highly recommend it to all travelers.
The rooms are clean. The kitchenette is a nice feature, but an oven would be nice. There are other small appliances that can be borrowed like a toaster oven. The full size fridge can also be helpful. There is not breakfast and the items in the cupboard are extremely expensive. The fitness center has nice equipment, but its too hot because its attached to the laundry with dryers.
Friendly and accommodating staff; clean and comfortable; we used the shuttle service which was very helpful.small issues: needed to replace the iron since it was not working.also my sister thought she smelled remnants of someone smoking in the bathroom....we had a non-smoking room. I did not smell it however
Check in was easy, folio was ready when I arrived. Room keys worked right off...many times a second or third trip is needed...not this one. Room was great, AC was quiet and bedding and pillows were great. Since I was out of the room more than in, I opted to give housekeeping a break. There were enough towels since it was just me. Overall experience? It was good and Id book it again. I intend to next year before I head to the Nationals.
We stayed at the other Candlewood Suites in Syracuse and was not impressed with the staff or cleanliness of the hotel however I hoped this location would be better and it DEFINITELY is!! The young lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful! The room was clean and met our expectations. It had a kitchen however we did not use it. Jeremy was very friendly as he gave us a ride to the airport. Once we returned from our vacation, I called the hotel and once again the staff was very friendly and the driver was there by the time we got our luggage. He helped us load/unload our bags. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again when we travel!!
The shuttle driver left me on the curb at 4am, in the snow... I am a disabled veteran and require wheelchair assistance, and he was told that.. he put me out on the curb with my 3 bags and told me someone should come along... nobody came. I mean who wanders around outside at that time of day looking for people who need a wheelchair????
Eight months of nothing but the best. The laundry room could use a lot of work considering only half the washers worked most of the time and the dryers were always tearing up. But I understand this is sometimes out of their control. The staff are amazing and helpful and will go the extra mile to lend a helping hand. Very great experience and would recommend to absolutely anyone.
Perhaps because we used points, but, this hotel room was the dirtiest I have ever stayed at... as if the room had not actually been cleaned by the staff prior to check-in from the prior guest... you know the feeling, traveling all day, need to get to airport early... just give me a clean room and comfy bed? Nope... but, easier to clean and sleep... I used multiple damp cloths to clean the dirty floor and there were visible piles of disgusting dirty... the worst ever! also, 1 bedside table? crazy inefficient.
Everyone was very helpful and professional The handicap accessible room I required was a perfect place to rehab after recent surgery. Desk personnel were very helpful in getting me whatever I needed. Housekeeping staff did a great job with the room. The fitness center is much better than most hotels. The laundry facility is convenient. Good selection of snacks and convenience foods and supplies. Great cookies every afternoon. Overall, a pleasant experience
I was stranded in Syracuse due to a cancelled airline flight; Candlewood is close to the airport and sent a van right over to pick me up. As weather impacted my flight, they were able to offer a slight discount to the rate, as a Distressed Traveler, which was very decent of them. Both the shuttle driver and desk person were great!!
Good deal in that we were allowed to park our car in their lot while we vacationed in Europe with the opportunity to spend a night at their hotel on either the front end or back end. As we were tired upon our return and arrived at nearly 11:00PM we decided to spend the night. Clean comfortable room. This arrangement worked perfectly for us.
Stayed at this hotel for two nights with my husband children and grandchildren. At check-in the hotel servers were down. The rooms were tiny for a suite especially considering. Our floor was soaking wet from the air conditioner leaking. The water in the toilet when flushed was so hot that I actually burned my bottom when flushing while still seated. The hot water in the toilet also caused my daughters iphone to overheat while she had it sitting on the toilet seat cover for approximately 15 minutes. When we checked in we were told that we would not be receiving any room service during out stay (2-days) but if we needed anything we could come to the front desk and ask. We were not even provided a clean set of towels for our second nights stay. My daughter is a marketing major and has worked in the hotel business for 8 years and never has she worked in a hotel that does not provide clean towels etc. This was absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Front desk people were rude and had zero personality. We asked for adjoining rooms when booking and received rooms on two different floors. And at one point while checking in one of the room attendants was talking to a front desk employee about not being able to work her shift because apparently she did not have child care and the desk clerk was arguing with her that she was neighbors with another employee and since that employee was off he/she could care for her child/children. The conversation was very unprofessional and should not have been taking place in the presence of guests.
I had never stayed at a Candlewood Suites before and was very pleasantly surprised. The room we had was very clean, very up-to-date, and had all the amenities you could ask for. I had originally booked a smoking suite, but there had been an issue with some maintenance in a couple of rooms so we were moved to a non-smoking room (which was fine, but I feel I could have been offered some kind of compensation for not getting the room I had booked - but thats just me). It was great having the Candlewood Cupboard which allowed you to purchase food on the honor system, as well as borrowing games and appliances in case you had an extended stay. The room was very quiet in that you couldnt really hear what was going on outside of the room. There had been a large party going on in a room in front of the lobby and we were not able to hear it from a few doors down. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend them and stay there again.
This hotel is pretty basic, but I recommend it because of the staff and convenience. The staff (especially drivers and front desk) are very friendly and helpful, and there are a lot of restaurants (warning: mostly fast food) nearby as well as a good market. The gym, free laundry, and pantry round out most things that you need.
The front desk staff person was very friendly upon arrival and when I needed a little assistance afterward. The room was very clean and neat, and, important for me, quiet. I was a little concerned about the first floor location next to the guest laundry room but even though I saw people doing laundry I couldnt hear any related noise, and the rest of the night I didnt hear any other guest-related noise, which is rare, so it would seem that their walls are thicker than the typical hotel. This was mid-winter so the heater was in use. The thermostat could be lowered only to 64 degrees or shut off completely, which I thought was strange as I would have liked to set it in the mid-50s for my sleeping comfort rather than turn it off and have the room get very cold. As it was, I left the heater at the minimum 64 and the room was a bit too warm for me.
I had an excellent experience at Candlewood Suites Syracuse Airport. I relocated to Syracuse and needed a long stay hotel while getting set up in my new city. The staff were efficient and polite, and handled my personal quirks with no questions asked. The kitchen was a real value, since I could shop for my groceries and cook in the room without going out to eat. The location is private and safe. One thing-my room windows faced a busy road coming off a highway, so the truck noise required me to sleep with earplugs. Not the hotels fault, and I came prepared.
Absolutely horrible. Staff was extremely rude, unpleasant & unethical, not to mention unprofessional. Comforted them about an encounter there in the bedroom with some kind of hurtful stinging bite & next thing you know, Im being forced to leave, escorted by police even ! And, overcharged! Not a care in the World that Im covered in scars from bed bugs I 100% got @ this establishment & from their NEGLIGENCE they caused me to spread bed bugs & mites (yes, fun times), to other Hotels in the area. Much to my surprise, (I stayed @ Marriott Hotels), they had me red flagged in their hotel systems & after choosing a Marriott Hotel and checking in and trying to relax, unwind, and try to get over the humiliation, (among a ton of other feelings), I was approached by Staff coming to my personal room & actually vacating me from their Hotel, with yet, another wonderful encounter with Police, and mandated to get off the property immediately or I would be arrested for trespassing! If I needed to pack my belongings up, etc., they only gave me 25 minutes to do so. This was with Police standing at the hotel door, watching my every move, and in front of the public there ! Never have I been so humiliated, so judged, so broken down & put down by professionals that its interfering with my daily life now. I have over 75 scars on my arms, legs, chest, shoulders & back & Ill never be able to wear a dress, skirt, short, short sleeved shirt, etc , due to the amount of awful looking scars covering my entire body ! This started at another famous Marriott Hotel (one prior to this stay) & escalated to (5) Hotels within my area. My home was being worked on due to hardwood flooring delays & I needed a long term place to stay over a 6 week period. All Marriott Hotels Hotels treated me in the absolute worst way ever & Im shocked over their lack of profesionalisim with my horrific situations. They considered me a bother & wouldnt even extend not a single apology even from all these Hotels & their staff & Management team. Bottom line - horrific experience. Watch out for little black pebble looking things. There some kind of Mite thats carrying bed bugs in their travels together & delivering an awful painful bite & countless scars.
I met my daughter in Syracuse early morning in Syracuse and both of us had a wonderful day together but we were both very tired and sleepy at the end of the day with fairly long drives back to our respective homes. For safety reasons, we decided to find a high-quality hotel at a reasonable price to renew before our long drives home. This hotel experience was exceptionally outstanding at every level. Friendly, courteous, and professional staff greeted us at check-in, accommodating my request at check-in to include my IHG Rewards membership. The room exceeded our expectations, was very clean, quite, well prepared, and we both were able to refresh with a good night sleep. I would recommend this hotel to family, friends, and colleagues.
I have been staying with the Candlewood on South Bay for over ten years. The last two years they have cheapen the program. We always had fresh cookies, bottled water and current local newspapers available. The coffee was top notch. The rooms were always kept extremely clean. This has all changed, but not for the better. The previous staff were always professional. The current staff tries hard, but they do not have the same level of experience. You can tell the current owner/management have a new philosophy. Less is better!
I stayed at the Candlewood suites SYR airport hotel, and I was very pleased with my stay. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. There is lots to eat within walking distance (Arby’s, Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Tim Horton’s and much more) and the van driver will take you anywhere within a 3 mile radius. The room itself is just okay. Very clean, but definitely could use a makeover. But again, the room is very clean so I guess that’s all that matters if your are just looking for a place to stay close to the airport. It’s a 10min drive to/ from the airport if that. They allow dogs for a small $20 fee. There is free washer and dryers, and a nice gym (didn’t use it, but the machines/ room appeared to be in good condition) Overall, nice stay. I will definitely recommend this place, and stay again
My husband and I and another couple spent one night at the Syracuse Airport Candlewood Suites. Both couples found the accommodation to be satisfactory. Everything that a couple needed was available in the kitchenette and everything worked well. We would have preferred a king sized bed and positioning of the bed in the room which would have allowed both people to be able to get up without one running into the wall, but that was a minimal inconvenience. The bathroom was spotless and everything worked well. We particularly liked the towels. They were very nice. The only other thing missing was breakfast. Oh well.
This hotel is in need of a complete demolition and rebuild. Old, decrepit and filthy. I’m shocked IHG allows themselves to be associated with it. It could be free and I would never stay there again. If they don’t fix the poorly installed carpet immediately they will probably get sued.
Stayed as a stop-over place during a week-long road trip to visit family. Traveling with two adults, two kids, and a service animal. Room was very spacious, the kitchen being there was a great amenity. Staff was amazingly friendly, all of them. The front desk staff, as well as the breakfast crew. Only complaint was the room was stale, not enough air flow. Would recommend.
Comfortable and friendly. We arrived very late and had early flight the next day. We didnt have a full experience but have no complaints about this property. We used points for our stay and found them very reasonable. Another positive comment is the location of this property. It was very close to the Syracuse airport. That was very nice for our early morning flight. We would stay here again and recommend it to others.
Stayed here as a last minute decision while traveling through NY. Low points requirement influenced my decision. The hotel was clean but the rooms were a little dated. This hotel was right next door to a HIE and shared a parking lot which was not an issue. The windows opened which was nice because the weather was pleasant. My only complaint is that the mattress was a little softer than I would have liked. My husband agreed. We spent very little time in the area and hotel. Complimentary coffee was always available.
Though the room was a tad dated, it was all very clean and comfortable for me and my three small children. We went just for fun, to spend time together, and we had a great experience. The beds and pillows were comfortable, bathroom was very clean, everything we needed was provided. It was quiet, the staff was friendly, and I would certainly stay here again! The value for what we paid was very good!
This is my second stay at this property. I arrived very late from an international connection, and the front desk manager couldnt have been nicer. The quiet, non-smoking room that I had requested was ready and I was asked if I needed help with my bags. The fast check-in allowed me to get settled right away. The room was well maintained and very clean, as were all of the dishes and utensils. The bed was extremely comfortable, with soft pillows and linens. As this is an extended stay property, they do not offer breakfast but there is a designated area for snacks. But beware, these are not healthy snacks. If one has special dietary needs, be prepared to bring your own morning nibbles until you can get to a market. There is a Tops market just across the boulevard, as well as a Dennys and several other nearby restaurants. My work schedule was extremely hectic; with several internal US flights. The staff was excellent! Friendly and professional, they allowed me the flexibility to come and go as needed, and made me feel at home. Although the computer/printer could use an upgrade, it is available free of charge and there is also a Kinkos just minutes away. This is an ideal property for business travelers on an extended trip. Overall this was a good experience and I will definitely stay here on my next trip to Syracuse.
We had not stayed at a Candlewood Suites before this time. The room and hotel appeared clean and well-maintained but we did find a couple of issues during our stay, nothing unsettling...it just could have been better (for example, one of the two treadmills was broken). Saying that, the staff was very friendly, helpful, and courteous overall with special recognition to Marissa! Another person in our group did run into one snippy front desk clerk but this was an exception not the norm. Because of the hotels location, we could hear road noise at night. The room layout was very functional. We enjoyed having a full-size refrigerator and ice maker. I liked the large closet too. The Cupboard seems like a good idea but it did not have the two things we looked for which were eggs and Dr Pepper. The shuttle was very easy to take to and from the airport and dinner.
I have stayed many times at Candlewood Suites Airport. I always have a lovely stay. The staff is courteous and prompt if you need service of any kind. I love the kitchenette and the bathrooms that can accommodate people with disabilities. The bed is comfortable, the room is like a little home away from home, clean and they seem to think of everything you could need. I arrived back into Syracuse pretty late that night and I was able to get decent food from the cupboard. I have also used the internet to print boarding passes in the past. I feel very comfortable and safe at this hotel. I have recommended this hotel to my friends and family and I plan to stay there again.
I went to go downstairs to get coffee and noticed a sign on the elevator stating out of order. I was staying on the top floor of the hotel and walked down the stairs. I asked the front desk personal how long it will be out and they informed me at least 8:30 am because they are waiting on the manager. I had asked this at 5:45 am. I needed to leave the hotel early to get on the road and realized I will now have to walk up and down a few times to get a family of 4 belongings into the car. Not a great way to start the day. A quality hotel needs to be able to get service repairs started quickly to accommodate the guests.
We were overly pleased with the shuttle service. They even took us to and from dinner at the Clam Bar that they recommended to us. It was delicious and a charming place to dine. It was a pleasure to park and be shuttled to the airport at 4:00 am when it was snowing and blowing. Made the pre-flight a breeze and so less stressful. Also, when returning we called for the shuttle again and our driver was there promptly. The rooms were cozy and comfortable. This is the only place we will stay in the future for pre-flight accommodations. LOVED IT!
We had a very good stay the staff were very professional and the room was very clean. We would definitely use the hotel again. The only negative was the park and ride. The employee that was supposed to take us to the airport in the morning was late getting to work and one of the customers almost missed his flight. On the return we were not given the right info on where they were picking us up, so we had a longer Waite which we did not need after a long flight. Other than that one problem I would rate the stay as excellent.
We planned to stop here on our way back home from our Canadian road trip, and I dont think either of us had any lofty expectations of this place having never stayed at a Candlewood Suites. I was impressed by the size of the room and its amenities, and I could see how this would be a good place to stay for a few nights on a business trip. The best part of our stay, however, came just after check-in when we asked the front-desk associate for a dinner recommendation. We were expecting to hear about some sort of chain restaurant, but instead she pointed us toward a very popular local seafood place. Our meal there turned out to be the best of our entire road trip; the food was heavenly, and the restaurant staff was incredible. We really appreciated the tip from the front-desk associate!
The staff was excellent. Polite, kind and hard working. The cleanliness was excellent give the age and condition of the hotel. This hotel is long past due for updating. Everything felt dark and dreary. Had there been another hotel with rooms nearby (town was booked due to a big concert) even if I had to pay a lot more, Id have moved.
What a tremendous value! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Candlewood Suites, Syracuse Airport. The facilities were clean and comfortable, and they provided us with everything we needed for our stay. With their special Park and Fly rate we were able to park our car for our weeks vacation and have shuttle service to and from the airport by the hotel. Shuttle service was very prompt and professional (even with a very early flight for our departure and a very late flight for our return). The staff, including the shuttle drivers, were wonderful. We HIGHLY recommend this hotel and definitely plan to stay here again.
As I arrived I was warmly greeted by Lauren (hope I spelled her name correctly). My room was clean and my bed was very comfortable. The cherry on top of the experience was meeting Jeremy, who had helped me over the phone prior to my arrival and then was so gracious and inviting upon my checking out. I really appreciated how amazingly I was treated by the staff - I still feel valued when I remember my experience here on top of everything being just the way I needed it to be.
I arrived late to the hotel and was only staying the night before my flight so I didnt get a chance to utilize all the amenities. The staff was friendly on check-in and check-out. I liked that the rooms felt homey, so if you were staying here for a long period of time you could really settle in. Overall a nice hotel and wonderful for the price.
I am excited to say that my overall experience at this hotel was absolutely fabulous . Phenomenal staff , Great location. Clean rooms and just friendly environment. I was stranded at the airport due to other hotels been overbooked. Candlewood suits where is the only hotel that allowed me to stay and took very good care of me and I will never forget my overall great experience .I come back next month and will book a few nights again at the same location. I will make sure this time I bring some chocolate or some kind of gift for of the staff they were so wonderful to me . I will recommend this location this hotel and grand to our friends family and coworkers. Thank you so much for taking care of me During my stay. I appreciate it and I really honor over and beyond customer service .
This place is good for long stays, especially if you want to cook. The bed was comfortable. I like that the TV had a sleep timer in case I fell asleep while watching TV. There was also adequate room for a large supply of clothing and other worldly possessions. The kitchen was good enough for feeding two. My only gripe was that the cleaning crew kept slamming the door in the rooms near my room, which kept waking me up every now and then. They also forgot my kitchen towels.
My wife and I stayed here for a quick overnight after arriving at the Syracuse airport. This hotel is very convenient to the airport, and there is a shuttle service. Our room was in clean, and in average condition for a Candlewood Suite, but the rooms could use a little freshening up. Amenities are not unlike other hotels in the same class. Nothing fancy here, but affordable accomodations.Sadly, we had the unfortunate experience of being placed in the room 107 or 117 (I dont remember), which is on the ground floor, as close as you could possibly be to the front door, and across from the fitness center. It is also adjacent to come type of small conference room, which was hosting some type of party upon our arrival (11 pm), and which continued throughout THE ENTIRE NIGHT.The sound of people talking, circulating around the front desk area and the constant open/closing/slamming of the door made it extremely difficult to get any meaningful sleep throughout the night. I brought the matter up to the front desk clerk, who managed to silence the volume of the party, but did not prevent further door-closing noise. Suffice to say, the quality of our sleep was not up to par with our expectation.Upon checkout the front desk clerk was friendly and apologetic, but otherwise not in a position to offer any kind of compensation.I would not recommend that anyone stay on the ground floor of this hotel, and be especially wary if there is any kind of event occurring.
I was there for just a quick one night stay. I did feel this is a place I would return to. I may have the need to frequent the hotel due to treatments for my husband and it has everything that we would need for his comfort. I loved that the kitchen was stocked with needed cooking/dining items. The only thing that I would have to say is I was disappointment in the fact that the typical hotel hygiene supplies were not present. I was not prepared with my own shampoo, conditioner and lotions.
Pleasant overall experience. Staff very helpful and friendly. We travel with our pet. Found them to be very accommodating. Coffee was good and bed relaxing. The only concern was the bed a little to close to the wall on the left side. So you had to squeeze in to get in the bed on that side. Minor inconvenience.
This was my first Candlewood experience,] so I will need to try another Candlewood to have a confident opinion of the brand as a whole. This property was old, the kitchen cabinets were from the 80s or 90s in the Suite. Furniture was old. There were 3 different hairs in the bathtub and on the shower curtain upon checking in. It wasnt a big deal and I didnt bring it up to the Front Desk because the bed/sheets were clean thankfully. The Staff were super friendly so I appreicated their hospitality, and the Fitness Center was very good with a good range of equipment, cardio machines and free weights. They have free laundry on site too. Was disappointed that there was not complimentary breakfast served, since the Holiday Inn Express across the parking lot has that offered. I guess Candlewoods dont offer breakfast.
I have stayed here 15 times in the last year and a half.,the staff is very accommodating There are a good selection of stores and restaraunts in the immediate area.Transportation to from apt is convienient.Rooms are always clean and I never had an issue with cleanliness.Although I would request the higher floors. As a former airline crew member for 35 years,I can recommend this place for a qick airport nite or a week.
We were travelling and had to stay over night before reaching our final destination. I had reserved this hotel before leaving and found it to be quite adequate for our needs..Full Refrigerator and your own ice maker...no need to hunt down the ice stations on different floors of the hotel. We were 2 adults with 2 teenagers and enjoyed the extra room...no one stepping on toes. Although the rooms could use a bit of fresh paint...it met our needs for a quick over night stay
This hotel offers excellent customer service. The front desk staff was very friendly, courteous, and very easy to talk to! My husband, twin, brother in law and I were hungry when we arrived and asked where a great pizza place was located. We ordered pizza and got it delivered right to our room! Excellent service!!
This hotel is best value for the money compared to others. Rooms are reasonably clean and equipped well. Kitchen is fully equipped. Bathrooms are clean. My stays are very frequent ant this hotel is my second home. The best part is the staff at the hotel is very friendly and they look after your needs very well.Internet is a bit slow for everyday traveler like me, could be improved. Sometimes I just use my cell phones hotspot when I find not going anywhere with it.
I chose Candlewood because of its proximity to the airport. I was doing a park and fly and the staff guaranteed that I would be able to get to the airport and back even though I had an early flight out and a late flight in. The came through on both ends. The room was very comfortable and laid out well and the staff at the desk was great. They greeted me warmly and carried on a conversation with me about my activities. I felt very welcomed by them. I plan on staying here anytime I am in the area.
Im not sure why this hotel is rated at 2-3 stars. My stay here last week went exceptionally well. Front desk service was awesome. Jeremy the front desk manager serves with a great genuine attitude. The rooms are very clean. I stayed in the 2 bed suite with my 2 children. The room was very spacious, the bathroom was well lit and very clean. The kitchen area has a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker with stocked amenities including microwave popcorn☺️ They do have a laundry room and workout area. Breakfast isn’t included, however dunkin donuts is right across the street and a few other restaurants are in the vicinity. I travel often thruout the year and this hotel should be rated in the 4/5 star rating!
We chose this site due to proximity to Syracuse airport and the free shuttle for our morning flight. The staff was friendly and the beds and pillows were very comfortable, but the air conditioners were too loud to sleep soundly. We thought the breakfast was complimentary, but, as we are light eaters, it was fine to have cereal, yogurt, milk available at reasonable prices. Free coffee was a perk. The presence of many long-term guests surprised us when we arrived in the lobby. We felt we were walking into a private living room, as it was filled with construction workers sitting in every seat, watching TV and talking loudly. It seems that this room should be separate from the lobby.Perhaps short-term guests could have their own less congested sitting area.
Nice place to stay, Staff is always ready and there if you need them. Room is nice, everything works are advertised. Hotel staff had to reprogram the tv, but that was done quickly and courteously. Room did smell a bit from a previous guests smoking but other than that its a nice place to stay
Clean good size rooms -Everyone at the Front Desk was awesome welcoming-friendly- helpful. Coffee 24/7 very nice -lending room is a nice feature. Kitchenettewas well suited everything needed. Having an ice maker was a real nice feature. Overall a real comfortable place to stay!
I arrived on a late flight, but the Candlewood shuttle picked me up even though it was time for his scheduled shift to end. Very much appreciated!Check in was quick and pleasant, but room was hot (midsummer) and it took a while to cool down to sleeping temperature. I also had to turn down the temp on the noisy refrigerator to be able to sleep. Convenient, clean, and comfortable, but the mechanicals can be noisy........
It was clean and generally comfortable. The staff was courteous and friendly. Actually, extremely pleasant. The gym wasnt good at all, but i was on vacation so that gave me a reason to not use it. Room could use some decorating updates, not doubt. But it was clean, staff did a good job keeping it that way.
Quaint, quiet little hotel with nice accommodations. We had a stove top and kitchenette area, with the opportunity to have items out to rent like board games and blenders. We were able to bring our dog, and the beds were comfortable with a nice working A/C. Some of the decor seems a bit dated, but overall a great stay.
The front desk manager was very nice when we arrived. And he had a Hershey bar with my name printed on it, which was very cute. The breakfast had more items than I expected and the coffee was good.I felt like the room was a little tired. There was a crack in the bathroom sink, and a long black hair in the tub.
At check in the staff at the front desk was sweet as can be, but I did address i needed a 2 suit room for 5 people and 2 puppsters, got to the room and it was a 1 suit king with a pull out sofa, had to go back downstairs to tell them they had made a mistake but they actually didnt even have any 2 room suits at this property at all. I was forced to use another 15,000 points for another room down the hall. I got up so excited for the hot breakfast the next morning then found out they dont do breakfast at this location. I have never been disappointed with Holiday Inn but I now know better to travel outside my comfort zone with them. The property
The Staff was excellent !!, very polite and seemed very caring, willing to assist with anything you may need. I travel to numerous locations withing the US, and have stayed at various hotels. Your hotel staff was the only ones who has called my room after I got settled and asked if everything was okay in the room or if I needed anything. That shows the level of customer service that you have there!!The location of the hotel to the airport is great!, the shuttle service was great especially when return a rental to the airport and picking me up and returning to the hotel.I plan to stay at this hotel in the future when I am in that area again.
Surprised at how clean and nice this place was for a 2 star hotel. Ive been to a couple 4 star hotels that were disgusting. Customer service is the best. The guy who checked us out on 7/28/19 at 12pm was so friendly and polite. He mentioned our dog was adorable, and it was definitely a plus that this place is dog friendly!
Redeemed reward points and requested room with 2 double beds. Upon arrival we were given a handicap accessible room, which was not what I reserved and also does not fit with my profile preferences. The refrigerator had a used water pitcher, the bathroom glass on sink was wet indicating it must have previously been used. The number of nights I stay at your hotel partners, I would have expected to receive the room I reserved. I have always received the room that I specified in my reservation, and on many, many occasions I have been upgraded based on my platinum status, which is always a pleasant surprise. The bed was the only part of the room I liked, comfortable mattress and a lot of pillows. I will not be staying at this hotel again.
I just got to this hotel and already love it! The halls smell like vanilla, they give you a chocolate bar with a custom label that has your name on it along with a note feom the manager with her email and extension number when you check in, the rooms really have anything you could need. I was so concerned with getting dish soap and sponges I forgot sugar for my coffee. Turns out the room already had dish soap, a brush and sugar! There are pots, pans, dishes, silverware, measuring cups and even storage containers as well. I will update as I go along.Update: Just left after a 7 night stay and still love it! Minus the grout being dirty, which happens over time, this was the cleanest and most spacious hotel Ive ever stayed at. My kids crawled all over the floor and were still clean! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with every question or request we had. Even when we needed a brush to brush the snow off our car. Beds and pillows are so comfortable I wanted to take them home. If I ever have to get a hotel in Syracuse again this will be it. My husband loves it so much he posted about it on Facebook.
As usual, we were happy with our stay at this facility. We were working at the New York State Fair and the hotel was close by. As a platinum elite member we were offered a room upgrade. Having a suite was a big plus, however the bed itself seemed small (a double instead of a queen) making it tough to have a good nights sleep. Fortunately having a recliner in the living room helped. All in all, our stay was pleasant and we will be back next year.
I was fortunate enough to have spent about a month at this hotel last year - and had a follow up trip to finalize the project, so of course I would stay here again!Just like before, excellent stay - comfortable quiet room, great staff, no complaints! The lobby was undergoing some type of remodel (but then, I just usually pass thru) - not sure why they felt it was necessary to remodel it, as I dont recall it even looking worn or dated!
This was the second time that I had dirty bedding during my many stays at this establishment. This time the bathroom was also obviously dirty. There was dried urine on the rim. The fire alarm went off for about 20 minutes, but the staff told us we didnt have to leave as someone burned something in their room we just had to wait for the firemen to come and shut off the alarm. The front desk staff were great, very personable and helpful. The cleaning crew on the other hand leaves a lot to be desired. I was here on business and given the choice wouldnt choose this establishment again.
I was a flying out of Syracuse Airport and my flight was canceled so I stayed at Candlewood Suites. They sent a shuttle to pick my up at the airport and took me to the hotel. The driver was very friendly/nice. While checking in I learned that they did not have a restaurant on site but, they would take me where ever I wanted to go to eat. I was very impressed in their helpfulness, they suggested several places to eat. I was taken to a restaurant and when I finished just called they came right away to pick me up. That is a great service. The room was very nice and clean and comfortable! I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling in Syracuse,New York. Thank you for making a very stressful time become a very pleasant and enjoyable time.
Clock in the room set to wrong time, no instructions visible to fix it. Had to use my cell phone for the alarm clock.Coffee in the room was decaf, asked at the desk for real coffee, waited 10 minutes for somebody to show up with more decaf, no real coffee! Had to get dressed and go down to the Cupboard to get a real cup of coffee. And very few sugar packets available either.
We had a great night. The check-in took a few seconds longer because we notes in the online booking notes that we had a dog, but they did not see that before assigning the room. The front desk person was more than accomodating and had us checked in very quickly after switching rooms. She was extremely friendly and nice - which was great after being on the road all day after driving.
I stay in hotels 5 days a week 42 weeks a year so I am a hard critic when I fill these out. The staff was nice and helpful the place was clean, quite. the only problem I had was I could not get my receipt as I leavening the printer was down this is the second holiday inn in two weeks that had the same problem. if they would have done what they said and emailed me my receipt to me I would have been a happy camper, but as the week before I had to call back a few times to get the information I needed. this was at 11:00pm so I know there was not a hole lot going on and they could not have been real busy. if you cant do some thing thats fine, but dont say something and then dont do it. I would stay there again if I ever go back there.
This was my first stay with Candlewood Suites. My room was clean, comfortable, and the recliner a nice lagniappe. Bathroom was nice. Front desk staff and shuttle guy were really nice. I ran into two single lady travelers who say they always stay there on business. Will definitely stay next time Im in Syracuse!
Nice place, the staff was great. Araina, Connie, Emily, and Joshua were always ready and helpful no matter the hour. Wish the fitness center had a little more room with some additional weight for lifting, but Im sure this is only me. Facility does look a little out dated, but overall great experience.
Our group of 4 adults, just spent 1 night at this Hotel, (4/27/19). We were very happy with everything included in the room, and the location. The next morning, he had to catch a flight out of the Syracuse Airport. Two members of the staff, I would like to recognize for their outstanding service to us. When we checked in Lauren handled everything with ease. The next morning, Spencer, made our checking out a breeze. These 2 were wonderful and the friendliest I have ever encountered - I think these 2 members deserve a pay raise, or promotion.
We quite often stay at this hotel when visiting Syracuse. We love having the kitchenette when staying for a couple of days. They always have a free bag of microwave popcorn in the room. Great location, minutes from the airport and Destiny USA mall. They have a free Airport shuttle. Minutes from state thruway to head to Waterloo Outlets about 35 minutes away. Staff is friendly. Building is always very clean. Onsite gym and self serve laundry. Excellent value. I always ask hotel staff for breakfast recommendations when visiting a hotel for the first time. They recommended Julies Dinner across the road. It is fantastic, we always go to Julies when staying at this hotel.
We chose this hotel because it was close to our Daughters apartment. The Staff were very friendly and welcomed us back as we had stayed here once before. As with all the Candlewood Suites we have stayed at our bed was extremely comfortable, the pillows were perfect and we slept like babies all three nights. The complimentary coffee each morning was such a treat as we were up very early each day. This will definitely be our go to hotel each time we visit Syracuse.

2022-07-02I stay here a lot for work and have never had a bad experience. The hotel staff are very friendly. The rooms are clean and have everything a person would need to cook and live for a week or two. The beds are comfortable and do the job. They have a room on the first floor where you can borrow kitchen appliances for specialty cooking. A grocery store across the street has everything you need to cook and eat. Overall a good stay for someone that is ok with the basics. Side note: they do not provide breakfast.

2022-06-15This review is so difficult honestly. The Bad:The room was VERY out dated and smelled really bad. The curtains were awful. The AC is brutal unless you bypass the automatic sensor. No pool or hot tub and the entire hotel needs updating. The Good:Room was very quiet, unlike many hotels. Having a kitchenette was very nice. The Best:That would have been a 1 star review if not for the amazing staff. They hold the place together. Theyre all so so friendly and make you feel like youre at home. I honestly have to say this was probably one of the best hotel staff Ive ever encountered. From cleaning staff, to the driver, to front desk...Theyre 5 stars all day long and pull this review up to 3 stars. They need support of the owner though to update the place and fix the old and smelly stuff.

2022-05-06Upon arrival I immediately noticed the attention to cleanliness and detail of organization. Not only did this hotel look clean it also smelled clean (like fresh linens). The rooms were just as great in quality and the bed was very comfortable. The only complaint I would have would’ve been the non recognition of being a points member.

2022-04-20I stayed for over a week at this hotel while in town for some medical appointments. The staff was always friendly and the hotel was clean. I had no issues extending my stay as my treatment required. I was also able to have a late checkout so I didnt have to be at the airport for 5 hours. They do not offer breakfast because each room has its own kitchenette for you to prepare meals. They do have an airport shuttle as the airport is basicallly around the corner. There is construction happening in the shared lot so the road leading in had several holes to dodge. I would stay here again if ever in Syracuse.

2022-06-12Oddly enough, the service we received upon checkin was fantastic. I wouldnt expect much from anyone at 1am but she was extremely pleasant and helpful. The cleaning staff were also very pleasant. Checkout, later that day however was a different story. The front desk staff was rude, unhelpful, and unavailable (spending time smoking outside rather than taking care of guests).

2021-12-21I participated in the park/fly/sleep program. I am from Rochester but was flying out of Syracuse. This seemed like a convenient option for long-term parking and airport transportation to and from the hotel. The hotel front desk staff was very nice and helpful. There was the only one person staffed & between phones and guest check in, she did a great job. The room I was assigned had a horrendous smell of sour milk or vomit. Trying to reach the front desk for a room change was difficult again because of staffing. Upon moving to another room that was no better than the first and in addition had heat blasting/blowing with no control buttons, I made reservations at another hotel and left in the night. I returned in the morning to park and shuttle to the airport.Upon my arrival back from my trip, I called for my return shuttle pick up. It was pouring rain in Syracuse. According to the gentleman who arrived to transport me back to my car at the hotel, they are not allowed to pull up and pick up hotel guests as per the policies of the SYR airport. I walked in the pouring rain to the lot where he was parked and was soaking wet by the time I got in the van. My car appeared safe but when I got in it in the next morning, the passenger side window had ketchup smeared on it.Again the hotel staff were lovely but the hotel was horrible and the overall experience was not a good one. And if this is the policy of the Syracuse airport to not allow local hotels to pick up their patrons after flying into their airport? Shame on them.

2022-06-26Positive: The customer service was beyond excellent. The lady in front desk was able to accommodate me and my family when we requested adjustments in room we were assigned. I will book with same hotel if I visit Syracuse again!! Negative: They don¿t offer breakfast.

2022-05-05The gentleman at the front desk (bald, beard, glasses) was an awful representation of an initial entrance to the hotel. Additionally, the room type I reserved was no longer available, which was not an issue but there was no explanation or apology - just simply a statement from a rude and impersonal front desk attendant. Check in was slow and he appeared to be bothered with each arriving guest. After that, I walked into my room and was immediately reminded that the hotel accepted pets because my room smelled like a wet dog. I told the front desk twice and no one showed up to assist (I would have accepted air freshener at least) nor did they offer to change rooms so I simply gave up. The next morning I asked for bar soap because the dispensers in the shower were empty and the staff was unable to locate replenishments; however, that too was a challenge. Between the poor customer service and dingy room, I would never recommend staying at this location. This place was a big disappointment and makes me rethink giving my business to the IHG brand, going forward.

2022-06-15Positive: Spoke with staff at the desk prior to my arrival on a motorcycle because I may have been delayed due to rainy weather. She understood and was accomidating. When we arrived there was free laundry facilities to dry off our soaked clothes and free coffee.

2022-06-13Honestly I’d give this location ZERO STARS if possible. AWFUL. My husband booked this hotel, a queen suite, a month ago, as we were traveling with our two very young children (5.5 months and 2 years). We show up to the hotel at 11pm and we checked right in. Went up to our room to find a two double beds that were completely stripped, the pillows and quilts on the counter and no suite in sight. Immediately went back downstairs and asked the concierge what was going on. Apparently they gave away our room 🤬. No courtesy call to make sure we were still coming, nothing. They said “a group of people for an event came through,” meaning they gave away our reserved room to some people who just showed up. Now here we are, with an exhausted toddler and an infant that is well past his feeding and bedtime, and a hotel telling us they can only accommodate our reservation with a regular room with two double beds because the reservation we made “only guarantees that we GET a room, not any specific type of room.” THATS LITERALLY NOT HOW IT WORKS ARE YOU JOKING ME. When I asked about paying for a room that we weren’t getting, the girl at the desk said well, you’re reservation for the suite is well under what we are charging for the two double bed room you are getting, so there isn’t anything we can do. $142 for one night…And when I tell you the room was DISGUSTING. The carpet was sticky and turned our feet black 🤢. when I was changing my toddler in the bathroom while we were getting ready for bed, she said “Mama look, a bug!” A FRICKEN CENTIPEDE. EW. The pictures were NOTHING close to what the room was like. I am very disappointed in this location and their mixup, I will NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN AND I WILL ADVISE FRIENDS AND FAMILY NOT TO STAY HERE EITHER!
