Overall it was a good stay. The room amenities are conviene. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The room wasn’t cleaned as throughly, but it was overall generally clean. We noticed some grime on the stove. And some of the cupboard items. There were also seasoning wrappers between the cabinets. The floor wasn’t throughly cleaned. The bed was a bit hard and not too comfortable. The pillows were flat. Aside from these items it was a pleasant stay. The area has stores and restaurants making it a convenient location. Overall the room was a good size and comfortable. It was like a small studio .
Everything was comfortable about our stay. My struggle was that though we rented a pet friendly room, but I felt like it smelled quite strongly of cat urine and needed deeper cleaning It might be nice if rooms were designated by the type of pet. We do occasionally have to travel with our dogs and appreciate the ability to have them indoors with us and wish every pet owner were conscientious enough to alert management immediately to any accidents or keep them n a crate or on the hard floor surfaces so they cant mess on carpets.
My visit was terrible . I had to stay there for two months while i waited for housing from deployment. My first room was ok. I moved rooms to get an extra bed, the older gentleman was very kind. I discovered fleas in the room, that I realized the marks on my feet were flea bites. I told the staff member and since it was a Saturday, they didn’t have the maintenance staff but was going to see what housekeeping and pest control could do. I didn’t hear anything back. Since i was getting my dog and my two kids back, i didn’t want fleas to get on them i went Sunday and asked to move rooms. The younger male staff member, made me feel as if i brought them, and because this was my second move, seemed like that was an issue. He moved me rooms, with his bad attitude and the room i went to had mold and backed up water in the dishwasher i didn’t bring this up to them bc i was leaving in a couple days i just didn’t use it.
This hotel stay was ok. Was there for a week in September, for work purposes. The windows were not sealed properly, so there was an issue with flies getting in through the window, and there were alot... It was pretty gross. The room itself was ok and the hotel overall.
Absolutely one of the best hotels in the industry for this area of New York State. Each staff member here is kind and accommodating, they definitely have it together there and express incredible hospitality and guest satisfaction. its just a lovely refreshing experience ,upscale and clean ,safe and comfortable with very reasonable rates .kid friendly and a relaxed worry free stay. :) 💯👍👍
The kitchenette was dirty and greasy. The rug had a huge piece missing from it and was filthy. The chair at the table had some sort of disgusting stain on it. The curtains were covered in brown stains and the room smelled like mold. We were supposed to stay 2 nights and left after the first. The gentleman at check out was extremely rude. Expected to have at the very least clean towels and was told they only clean the rooms every 7 days. Not sure what day our room was on but it was disgusting and we will be sure to tell all our friends.
Positive: The hotel is located in a great area, very convenient to amenities. Check in was easy. The room had a nice little kitchen and was a good size. Negative: The room initially was not very clean, but they came quickly and resolved. The staff was not very accommodating and were slightly rude when we had an issue with extremely loud people above us. The room was also on the warmer side, but cooled sufficiently.
Room cleanliness is my number 1 priority and this Hotel had it.The air conditioner worked perfectly and was not noisy. The water pressure in the shower was excellent. The vent/fan could have work a bit better. I suspect the filter needed changing. Overall it was a good stay and I would recommend and also stay again myself.
Generally ok for the price, but the dust and dirty carpet was concerning after I put my socks on just a couple steps to my shoes the bottom of my socks were filthy. The fridge it is a short fridge was thick with dust. Both employees at the desk where very nice. Room 106 was mine so the rest of the hotel may have been fine.
Best extended stay type hotel on the market. They just do everything right.Had an issue with showerheasd. When maintenance person got back from vacation it was taken care of.Housekeeping let me switch my cleaning day so it wouldnt be on my day off. Some of the long term guests think the front desk needs more training in customer service, but l think you just have to get to know them. Two gas grills outside that work well. Not everything in fitness room works and the dumbbells are missing.Laundry works well, just have feel dryer to make sure it is running after pushing in know.Switch for garbage disposal, but no garbage disposal. Wish there was light over sink.Dishwasher is old but it works.HVAC is the dual purpose type, so cant pick AC or Heat only.
Customer service was helpful. But the room was terrible. The lounge chair by the tv was completely worn out. Literally. Why they even had this chair to sit in was beyond me. I asked for another room because of it and was told that all the chairs were like that in the rooms and they were getting new chairs the following week. The desk chair wasCompletely stained. Bathroom was clean but no room for my toiletries. Big bathroom but zero storage space.
Overall, our stay was fine. There was nothing exemplary about the hotel but it served its purpose. Overnight staff wasn’t really friendly and some stuff in the cupboard had no prices and it seemed to be inconveniencing to the staff that we asked. It was a little upsetting that no breakfast at all was offered and you only had the option of paying for stuff from the cupboard. We would try to get down early (around 0730) but many of the options were already gone. Even bagged breakfasts for free that you take up to your room would’ve been better than fighting the whole hotel for the two breakfast sandwiches they put out daily. Oh - and the recliner in the room was super uncomfortable and the material was peeling off of it so it would scratch you constantly while you sat on it.
We were very happy with our 10 day stay here. The location is convenient to Fort Drum. The room was clean. The kitchen facilities allowed us to eat some meals in our room. The bed was comfortable. Management quickly responded to a couple of minor issues in our room. Hubby was thrilled to find a recliner in the room. I will say the carpet and upholstery were a little worn, but this did not bother us. The amenities, location, service, and price provided value
Parking lot needed better lighting. Carpet needed cleaning. The beds were comfortable but very noisy, everytime I moved or rolled over I would wake everyone. The cupboard was an awesome idea as we visited it often for condiments. The laundry room is great if you can find a machine not being used but given it was free then not going to complain. The staff was pretty friendly and helpful. The location is great! Close to Fort Drum, and within walking distance to shopping and eateries.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was dated and not thoroughly cleaned. Cable tv didn’t work had to reconnect HDMI cable as it kept falling out. Then manually put tv in HDMI mode. The curtains had either old food or blood stains on them. Overall not a total bad experience but definitely room for improvement there.
This is a good hotel that is located next to a few outside food sources including a Walmart. It’s right next to the army base, so if that is a need for travel and lodging, this place works great for what you need. There was no free breakfast offered like at other locations, and food options to purchase inside hotel were slightly on the pricey side. Staff was super helpful on the phone and accommodating. TV did not work and when needing to be cooped up in a room because of Covid and and distancing, it was slightly frustrating. Room was decent enough. Carpet was clean but old and shabby looking, bathroom was average. The Candlewood on post at Fort Drum will spoil anyone who stays there, so going from that to this was a bit of a change. But for convenience and a hotel off the highway in not a big city, it served it’s purpose and I’m grateful to have had it.
This hotel is not bad but the rooms are old and outdated. The hospitality is awesome. Also, couldn’t get the tv remote to work properly. I am not sure if the remote was even sanitized because it was not in a plastic bag. The bathroom and the room overall was clean. Updated furniture and a working television would have made the stay far better.
The staff gave me first floor room. Told him I wanted upper floor if possible. He said no and that they were fully booked. When I complained, he back tracked and said they had a room on the upper floor. The room was organized. But the surfaces did not look clean, especially the carpet. Everything looked a bit dated. There was a billing issue because I checked out at an earlier date than planned. The staff referred me to IHG and offered no help. If you need a room near Watertown, this place is ok. Not great, but convenient. If you have access, go to the Candlewood on Fort Drum. That place is much nicer.
Carpet needs to be replaced throughout. Curtains in our room were stained. Elevator needs cleaning. 3 loaves of bread were in the cabinet. Phone surface was stained and dirty. Carpet in our room was coming apart at the seam and was very worn. Man at desk was friendly. I know places are short staffed, but dusting, vacuum are easy enough. On the corporate level, this place needs an overhaul. Despite all of that, we slept well. Pillows and mattress were ok. Our daughter and sil just moved to the area so we will be frequent visitors, but not at this facility.
Positive: Plenty of clean towels. Hot water was quick to dispense. Negative: Tub moldy-flaked off into bath.Beds looked used, stray hair and fuzz on it.Drinking glass used & covered as clean.Window hole covered by tape leaked rain streams, splashed on bed & drapes.Desk staff apathetic. Breakfast: a lie. Will I return? NEVER. NASTY!
Hall ways should be vacuumed a little more frequently. Wipe down on the elevator doors and walls would help. The building and grounds were exemplary. The front staff was courteous. A properly cleaned and adequately supplied location can make the difference between 2 stars and 5 stars. This location has the potential with the right crew.
Booked 4 rooms for family with 2 queens each so we all had a place to sleep.. received 2 rooms with only a double bed. Sold out hotel. Had to get 2 rollaway cots. Didnt have correct sleeping arrangements, had 3 kids in one double bed. . Booked 3 weeks in advance. Should have set aside our 4 rooms with 2 queen beds in each room for us.
Positive: the staff was very friendly and helpful especially the older gentlemen at the front desk. Negative: The hotel seemed to be on a weekly cleaning are for the common areas and could have been a little more diligent on general tiding up of those spaces. There was also a smell of smoking in the hallways but it did not get into the rooms
Overall a great experience. I stayed in the room for almost two weeks. Full kitchen and full-size fridge that gets really cold. Decent TV with plenty of channels and HDMI hookup. Room was very clean and comfortable so I will just critique the things I remember that I didnt like. Thermostat was all over the place but could warm or cool quickly if needed. The furniture was banged up a little, as expected. There wasnt an ethernet hookup in the room for connecting devices or gaming consoles.Overalll; great staff, spacious room, uncommon amenities within the room, large bathroom. Highly recommend.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Commons areas were clean. Room was clean. I just had and issue with furniture in the rooms old and wore out, stained. Really hate to think what the bed looked like underneath the padding and protective covers. Pots and pans need replaced as well. I was there with several people and there furniture was on poor condition as well. It wont be my first choice for an extended stay next time I am in Watertown, ft. Drum area.
I wanted to love this hotel because the staff was SO nice, but rooms are in disrepair, not clean and just a general air of neglect. The carpet had duct tape, there was hair on the bathroom floor and mold on the ceiling, and the cooktop had years worth of grime cooked on. I believe they wanted to provide a nice experience, but fell short.
We had a pretty good stay. The staff was very friendly, they had great communication. They were able to answer any questions that we had. We ended up staying an extra night that was unplanned, and the staff was very accommodating. We have interacted with people from the front desk to some of the cleaning staff, overall everybody was very pleasant. We got great sleep, we had our puppy with us. The staff was extremely pleasant, they provided us with the pet policy and charges the required pet fees ETC. Overall I recommended would stay here again
Driving to this hotel, it looks pretty new. On arrival, youll see its just new painted. The room is comfortable enough but the furniture (i.e. the desk chair and easy chair) were threadbare and should be replaced. The room had a DVD player, dated technology, I know, but it was improperly set up so the picture was black and white. When I first tried to use it, the disk tray would not open. Maintenance came and said,, you just got to drop it an inch. The trick worked but that unit should have been replaced.Other than the aging facilities, it was a typical candlewood. Comfortable bed, kitchenette, free laundry. And honestly the threadbare furniture did not detract from my stay.
My experience at Candlewood was most pleasurable. I was near great stores and places to eat. Close to relatives to visit and near Alex Bay. It was much like being at home without the house work. Rooms are beautifully furnished with frig and stove. Even a dishwasher and free laundry!
I was very happy to find that the room came with a smart TV, I usually see older and slower TVs. Great location, located just off post from Fort Drum and surrounded by many restaurants and stores. I loved everything about the room, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the shower was my favorite part. I was able to do a lot of much needed relaxing. The walls are also soundproof, gotta love it.
The employees at this hotel went above and beyond to make sure that my hotel stay was comfortable and safe during this pandemic. I was still able to enjoy using the gym and the great things that Candlewood Suites have to offer (guest room kitchenettes and the Candlewood Cupboard/ lending locker). This made my stay of 11 days more comfortable and less stressful. The only negative thing I experienced during my stay is the upkeep of the furniture in the room and the bathroom. The recliner and office chairs within the room were very worn and gave the overall appearance of being slightly dirty (even if they had been wiped down) the leather was peeling in numerous places and looked worse for wear. The bathroom sink area was kept well maintained but the toilet and shower were not in the best condition. The ring around the edge of the toilet bowl was rusted/dirty on the inside and appeared dirty/like it had not been cleaned well in awhile. The shower had gaps/cracks around the edges of the molding and looked like it needed maintenance. The bathroom fan would also consistently clang throughout the day as the tenants above me moved.
It’s a hotel room. The beds were fine. Bathroom was stocked. We never got extra towels. Carpets were filthy. It’s what you would expect from a hotel near a military base. If you don’t plan to stay long, then it’s a good thing. Couldn’t use the laundry. People left there stuff in. I like how other ihg hotels made you schedule your use that way people couldn’t leave their stuff in the washers. Would I use it again? Only if I stayed for a day or two.
The hotel was clean and the workers were kind and helpful. They allowed me a little wiggle-room at checkout while I was busy around town. The room had everything including dishes, a full sized fridge, dishwasher, and full bottles of shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the bathroom (a truly great idea to prevent single-use plastic waste). They were also pet friendly which allowed me to bring my cats, not sure where I would’ve been able to go otherwise. Also, perfect location next to Walmart to stock up on essentials. I would absolutely stay here again.
The larger suite was perfect for our stay . Fully stocked kitchen was a nice surprise. Hotel staff was very courteous and fully explained all Covid related precautions that have been put in place. Suite as well as public spaces were well maintained and clean. Perfectly located for visiting with family stationed at Fort Drum.
If you are going to the Fort Drum, this is the hotel for you. It could not be closer and it is convenient to Wal-Mart and several food choices. The rooms are nice and the staff is good. Why didnt they get full marks? Breakfast isnt included. You know, like in the big city - except this isnt the big city. Overall, recommended.
We were in Watertown area just for one night and decided to try Candlewood Suites Fort Drum location as the IHG website listed it and the Hotel pictures seemed nice. Sadly the hotel/room did not meet the standards we have come to expect from IHG hotels. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The kitchen and bathroom were okay, The room itself was a good size but was very well worn. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and noisy, (I was told that possibly the boxspring was broken). The blackout curtains were badly water stained and worn, and the recliner chair in the room was so worn it looked like something from the trash. The seats on the two chairs at the table were stained and dirty looking. Overall the standards of cleanliness seemed to be a bit lacking. The water glass in the bathroom looked like it had been used before and appeared to have toothpaste residue in it. (I was told it was probably hard water stains) The pot on the stove still had a price tag sticker on the bottom which was singed from being on the hot stovetop. The front desk and the lobby were not particularly inviting and the elevator floor needed to be vacuumed. When I brought my concerns/disappointment to the attention of the manager on checkout she apologized and explained to me that they were starting to update and renovate the property but that they were starting with the outside (painting). I was very glad we were only staying for the one night as I could not have slept another night in the uncomfortable noisy bed. I feel bad to have to write this negative review because the staff were very kind but I think people should know what to expect when they book at this hotel/location. I have no idea how they got a 4 star guest rating, unless those guests had rooms that were much better than the one we had. Maybe after they complete their update/renovations it will be a nicer place to stay but until then don’t expect much from this hotel.
We stayed a week at this hotel and had a very nice experience! There is a kitchenette and all the utensils, plates and pots provided so if you want to cook a meal you can! There is a cupboard in the lobby with extras that you can use and a snack pantry for a quick snack and always free coffee! The bathrooms are nice, towels are soft and fluffy! They provide shampoo and conditioner and body wash in full size containers and they smell so good! The room was clean and have a home like feel to it! The beds were ok, I thought they were a little uncomfortable but overall our stay was nice! Would definitely stay here again!
Extremely nice motel. very clean. room had a full size refrigerator, two burner stove, microwave, sink, dishwasher, pots, pans, silverware, dishes, just about everything you would expect in a normal kitchen. Much more than I expected for roughly 100 bucks a night. Would be really be a great place if you had small children. Beds were comfortable and bathroom was nice and clean
This was our first time staying at a Candlewood Suites! To begin what a wonderful idea that we booked here, It was a fantastic decision! The staff at here are spectacular very accommodating and friendly! And when you get into your room it has such a homey feel to it and very clean.I love the part that they have a kitchenette A full fridge and a comfortable bed! Also have a great little gym here and you can wash and dry your clothes for free! Just bring your own products to use.And they are Pet Friendly which is a huge plus!I highly recommend staying here!
Candlewood fit my budget and location. The staff was friendly and helpful and I generally had an incident free stay. The issues I had was finicky door locks. I needed to insert and remove my keycard probably a dozen times just to get in my room... every time. The keycard also did not work for the back of the building. So if your room faces the back and you want to park back there, just hope the door is open or knock. The towels are old and rough. Not like what is on other IHG locations. But for what it is, it works.
We stayed at this hotel on the way to the Adirondacks and we are so glad we chose this IHG Location. It was only 10k points and was very clean, a great location and having a kitchen with a full-size fridge and ice maker in the room with a full-size fridge was a plus. The room was very clean and fresh and we were able to open the windows a little bit even on the 4th floor. The beds were a little bit on the harder side compared to other IHG hotels we have been to, but we still slept very well. No traffic noise heard at night because the hotel is set back far from the road. The hotel is located close to Ford Drum Military base. They have a laundry room in the hotel. Being only 10k IGH points, and a great location, this hotel was highly worth staying there.
Staff at location was great as usual, and apologized in advance for furniture in room. Dealing with COVID shortages on furniture replenishment and updates (chairs were awful). Ventilation needed in second floor hallway, even with masks it smelled. Food boxes/garbage (take out) stacked on floor in hallway outside of multiple rooms at different times of night/day. Perhaps signage/directions to exterior dumpster for trash placement rather than hallways!
The room smelled of cigarette smoke upon entry despite me checking that the room was non-smoking. The stovetop did not work and the microwave worked intermittently. The cable box also did not work. The comforter was clean but did have several stains. One key card provided did not work and the other only worked sometimes. Didnt mention any issues to staff because felt I could bare through it for stay/trying to limit contact with people.
What a nice place to stay! Staff was so very nice! We rented a suite and it was very clean. Bed and pillows were so comfortable! Shower was hot and water pressure was good. They have a room where you can buy things for snacks and breakfast. Thanks to Covid ... but it had a good selection! We so enjoyed our stay... we will be back!
To start, the guy at the front desk was rude and seemed irritated when i checked in. Then i cleaned my room with a white towel and cleaning spary that the hotel provided. After wiping my kitchen floor and bathroom floor, my towel was comppetely black. It was absolutely disgusting. I have the picture to prove it. There was also a ton of flies flying and buzzing around my window ALL the time. The AC unit was loud, didnt work, and turned off and on ever 5 minutes so if your a light sleeper like me, it will wake you up every time it turns on and off. And this is the ONLY Candlewood suites ive ever stayed at in all my years of traveling, that a candlewood doesnt have a recliner, or a kitchen chair to sit at. All i had was a dirty old desk chair. When i asked if i could get something else, anything, the guy at the front seemed bothered and said there arent any chairs so then i asked to move to a room with more than 1 chair, the guy said all the rooms were full. Everything was bad about this place.
Lovely hotel. Staff were pleasant and professional. Hotel lobby and rooms were clean. Beds were comfortable and sheets were crisp and clean smelling. The one and only complaint was that someone staying there had a dog and it barked a lot. Probably because they were out. Once they arrived back the dog stopped. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I would definitely go back again
We booked a block for my daughters wedding on Ft Drum. Our 30 overnight guests were blown away by how accommodating land friendly and efficient the staff were. The hotel is beautifully decorated, it’s new, the furniture is new, the rooms are spotlessly clean, the beds are comfortable. The value for money is superior. The breakfast was hot and hearty. We had a BBQ welcome at the back of the hotel for our Friday night guests. Gas grills and a fireplace. The hotel management arranged a shuttle between the hotel and wedding venue. I could go on and on. bravo Christy and staff. It was a fantastic week end. Nobody could find a single thing to criticize. Thank you again
The hotel is outdated and needs to be thoroughly deep cleaned. The curtains and carpet were stained in the room, the ac vent cover was hanging off the unit. The kitchen had a permanent stench that no amount of cleaning could remove. The hotel cleaning policy for Covid says the hotel will clean the room once a week. What actually happens is the sheets get switched once a week and the trash taken out. I had to request to have the room vacuumed every week that I stayed (stayed for a month and a half). They only give you enough trash bags and linens for 2 days however they won’t come back into the room for a week. If youre going to wait a week to clean the room at least give the occupant enough linen and trash bags to last a week. 10/10 wouldn’t recommend this property.
Overall I don’t have many complaints other than the excessive noise. It was a Friday night so I understand some people have the weekend off from work and such. I stayed here with my children, we arrived a little late, around 8:30pm. As soon as we arrived, there was someone cooking on the grill and blaring music very loudly. We proceeded inside to our room, as we passed by several other rooms, there was music being played loudly, people talking very loudly. At one point, I had to go down to my car to get my charger, it must’ve been after 11pm at this time, and it sounded as if there were parties happening in several of the rooms as the music and conversation levels were very loud.
I was happy when I went into the room although they are remodeling the rooms there seems to be some older furniture but I was happy about the room. The room was clean and well stocked with all the essentials needed. Since my stay was for 5 days and I will be returning I will definitely stay here again..
My stay was quick but upon check-in everything was orderly and the process was very smooth. The location is excellent in terms of proximity to Post, area restaurants and many shops one might need while staying at this hotel. Walmart is within walking distance to the hotel (same parking lot/across). The hotel was stocked with many books and games at the front, the laundry areas were clean and the overall appearance of the room was very clean, the kitchen was well equities for short or long stays, the beds were very comfortable and the amenities in the bathroom were excellent. The soap was not cheap bar soap, but high quality dispensers. I would definitely recommend this location for someone who is visiting post, family stationed at Fort drum or those on business.
Terrible night’s sleep on creaky old mattress that dips in middle. Chair at desk had almost all the vinyl peeled off. Why haven’t these been replaced? Stains on carpet and curtains and some areas of bath floor were filthy. Staff were nice but this is not a place we recommend.
Stayed for 2 nights with friends. Booked 3 rooms. The rooms have kitchenette with a large fridge. The only downfall were the old worn out chairs in the rooms and dirty carpets. The chairs are disgusting. We have to cover them with a towel before sitting on it. These chairs should be replaced. Candlewood Suites is an IHG Hotel. It should be the same as the other IHG hotels which are upscale. Overall, our stay was ok.
I found this hotel through my rewards program an was so happy I did. We arrived a bit later than I would have liked but were greeted immediately at the desk. Check in was not only a breeze but the staff member very friendly. Room was more than expected for the price: kitchen area, recliner, large bathroom with full compliment of shampoo, conditioner and body wash - not just the little bottles and plenty of clean towels. Room was clean and fresh smelling; beds extremely comfortable. Check out was again a breeze with another friendly staff member. Even though it doesnt provide the complimentary breakfast most others do it is very close to food options, Walmart and Ft. Drum. I highly recommend this hotel.for either a long or short stay.
Upon arrival we were having a hard time figuring out how to work the TV. Bill was so very helpful!! He took time from his busy day to come to our room and walk me through how to set it up. This was our second time staying at this location within 2 years and he was here on our last visit as well. It was nice to see a familiar face.
Whenever I have to go to work at Fort Drum, I usually always stay at this hotel. It’s a nice hotel. Kitchen set up is nice in the room. Place is always looking good. Bed could be a little more comfortable. Not a big fan of the towels. The staff is great. Overall always a good experience.
I truly enjoyed my visit to this hotel. I found staff to be friendly and efficient, the room very comfortable and filled with nice little touches. The provided kitchen equipment would make a longer stay a breeze. I particularly enjoyed the leather arm chair and the on-demand tv channels. The full size fridge was decently cold. The only negative thing I can say about the whole experience was that it was moderately low water pressure in the shower. Though I didnt use it I love the idea of the lending cupboard! I also had plans for the day I was checking out but I delayed them so I could enjoy the room a little longer!
Although the hotel is fairly new, the decor appeared to be from the 70s. The carpeting looked like it could use a good cleaning, The back door of the hotel, where we usually went in and out every day for a week, had a broken lock. I would have thought they would have replaced it, since it seemed like it had been broken for quite awhile. The staff knew it was broken, but it didnt seem to bother them that they had to always leave the check-in counter to let people in. Our main reason for choosing this particular hotel was its proximity to Fort Drum.
This was our first time staying at a Candlewood Suitesand was very pleasantly surprised. Our room was very clean, and cozy. Full kitchen was perfect for ourpurposes. We purchased eggs and bacon at the local grocer and cooked breakfast before we left to go home. I would not hesitate to stay at this Candlewood Suites in the future and would recommend to others. Thanks for the great service from the staff.Clean and affordable. We happened to stay duringcustomer appreciation week and were provided with a bar b que supper. Was great.
We had a great night’s sleep in the comfortable beds and the suite provided lots of room. It was great to have a full kitchen. The downside was that although it was cleaned up the carpet and chairs were very worn and stained. The finish on the chairs was worn off and there were stains in the old worn out carpet. If those were replaced I would have given this a full 5 star rating.
I feel that I needed to write a positive review because we have that human nature where we write a negative review ten times more than a positive one. This place is cheap. The staff are excellent. They take care of thier guests and they can hold a good conversation about anything. The outside area looks nice too. Especially the back area, when its not covered in snow. Wifi is great here. The room is big and beautiful; I mean there is a lot of space to walk around. The bathroom is great too. The room has everything you need: a fridge, a microwave, dishwasher, and a list of other necessities. Breakfast is good too. The self-made pancake making is awesome. I love pancakes 😁. Anyway the staff will go above and beyond to make sure you are a happy customer. I would not want to book any other hotel but this one. Thank you.
Candlewood provided a quiet, clean, and well-appointed suite for my stay at an excellent price. The bed was very comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was incredible, the kitchenette was well stocked with everything I needed to cook, including a full-size fridge with an ice-maker. The chairs were comfortable and the table large enough to spread out all my electronic accouterments to attend to the business I needed to conduct, internet service was easy to connect to and fast. Heating and cooling responded quickly to minor adjustments to the thermostat. Id highly recommend these accommodations and will be returning in the future.
I expected this hotel to be decent since it is so close to the base. We checked in on a Thursday and left on Sunday we never saw the cleaning staff the entire time. I understand it is considered an extended stay hotel but you would expect the towels to be picked up and trash taken out more than once a week. When we came to the counter to check in the person at the desk did not speak or look up from the computer screen for 2 minutes. He rushed us through so he could finish whatever we interrupted. We were not greeted as we entered or left the hotel. The room was run down. The curtains had water damage stains, the shower squirted water everywhere if moved from one specific location and the toilet was dirty. I have stayed at IHG properties and I expected better. I would not choose to stay there again.
From the very moment I called to make a reservation to the moment I checked out, the staff was extremely polite and accommodating. The property was very well kept as well as my room. Everything was squeaky clean and the beds were so comfortable. I had zero issues at this hotel. Not only will I recommend this hotel to all my friends and family, but its become my go to any time Im in the area. Thank you!
Because of my work and the length of time I had to be there. It was the perfect choice but I believe the staff of the hotel takes for granted and know that people will always fll.the rooms. But if given a choice of another extended stay. I would not give this hotel my business
The staff at the front desk are the best I have ever experienced in hundreds of hotels stays. Melissa particularly was just so friendly, welcoming but what set her above all others is it is just so natural. She definitely made the stay more pleasant. The beds are better than the last stay so thank you for updating them. With their assistance and the atmosphere created in the lobby it almost felt like home. Room size was large, halls quiet at night, gym very good.
The carpet was all torn up as you enter the kitchen the lounge chair was missing a lot of its fake leather, I have been better chairs on the side of the road. The dishes and glasses were not clean, and the ice maker took forever to make a batch.I have some pictures if you are interested in seeing what I mean.
The Fort Drum gate is very close by and theres a Walmart and restaurants within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Cupboard was well-stocked and reasonably priced. The single use detergent boxes were a real convenience. I liked the free coffee and teas as well.i really liked the large kitchen in my room and the free laundry downstairs. While I didnt cook several of my co-workers used the available pots and pans to make dinner, etc. I stocked the refrigerator and used the microwave a lot during my stay.I didnt like the motion activated heater controls which made for a chilly wake up in the morning. I figured out a workaround but I had the heat setting up pretty high to compensate. The bed was very comfortable so it made it doubly hard to get up in the morning! No issues with housekeeping. Even though its not every day my room was kept clean, the trash was dumped and there were always clean towels available.Overall a very good choice.
This was a great place to stay. They were very accommodating. Everything was clean and well kept. The only knock on this place was when I checked out the lady working the desk that night told me they had a guest there that tested positive for covid-19. They quarantined the person that cleaned the room but they didnt tell the other guests and give us the choice of staying or leaving. Not happy about that at all.
This hotel was quiet and comfortable. When you add it the added availability of the kitchen in the room you have flexibility to eat in or go out for a meal. Also, I stayed at this location when the area was being hit with a lot of snow. The staff did a fantastic job of keeping the parking lot and sidewalks clear. Safety was not an issue at all. It was a warm cozy place in the midst of a cold winters night.
The hotel is conveniently.located with easy Interstate access and a variety of restauranta and stores nearby. Good parking. The room was very functional and the kitchen would be fine for an extended stay. The furniture is quite worn, that gives the impression that the hotel is poorly maintained and honestly I dont think thats the case. Its a shame the worn furniture takes away from the positives.
Im a frequent traveler--40 nights of business travel over the past three months, plus another 8 of personal travel. Ive seen a lot of hotel rooms, and slept in a lot of hotel beds. The furniture--the sofa, the recliner, the beds, and the mattresses--were obviously old and worn. Both mattresses were visibly sagging. I dont have back trouble--my wife does. She was miserable the first night of our planned three-night stay; she slept on the floor, on a yoga mat, on the second night. We checked out that morning, and moved to the Holiday Inn Express in Watertown. The front desk staff was very nice, and very apologetic: they were fully aware they had old room furnishings, and said that the property was slated for an Improvement Program in the next year. They didnt charge us for the night we spent on the floor, and apologized profusely. If youre regular Army and are accustomed to sleeping rough, and the military is paying for the room, hey--this is really convenient to Fort Drum. If youre the parents of regular Army, or just somebody paying with your own money, and you dont want to sleep on the floor, look for another option.
We had a wonderful visit with our son over the Thanksgiving holiday. The room was spacious enough for us to entertain 3 guests (5 people total) for a light dinner and games on Wednesday evening. Then on Thanksgiving day we prepared a turkey dinner for 4 and played card games well into the evening. After reading a couple of reviews prior to our stay I was happy to discover the bed to be very comfortable. Our only suggestion would be to (1) update the seating (upholstered chair(s) and leather recliner) as they were well used and (2) to provide better/larger pillows. Many thanks to the staff who were very friendly and helpful while planning our visit and during our stay. All in all, we would be happy to stay here again.
Our room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom also was clean and spacious. Kitchen was great and even had a complimentary bag of microwave popcorn. Microwave clock was a bit too bright at night in the darkened room. WiFi and TV channel selection was very good. We had a minor issue with our rate at check-in and the staff was responsive and resolved it. Location is good for Fort Drum but is a bit out of the way for Watertown shopping compared to some of the other hotels on Arsenal St. Walmart Superstore right next door was convenient.
We stayed here for 4 days and the staff was very friendly and helpful. When we left the hotel I noticed I forgot a special blanket for my spouse. I called maybe a week later and they not only had the blanket, but shipped the blanket out to me with no shipping cost. I really appreciate how quickly and fast the staff responded to me. Thank you all again.
I have stayed at many middle level hotels but this was by far the best one.The rooms are modern, spacious and very clean; they have a full size refrigerator, stove, and have all the channels on the TV (including HBO/Showtime).They offer amenities such as laundry room, gym, snack/coffee lounge, even a borrow locker. The staff was extremely friendly and respectful greeting everyone as they came and went. The atmosphere was very relaxed and family oriented; a variety of stores and restaurants are within walking distance and plentiful.I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and associates.
Great hotel, spacious room with kitchen. The beds arent that comfortable, but considering the cleaniness of the whole building, we still recommend the hotel. You can beat the location and price. The staff are friendly and helpful. Check in and out was seemless. We were greeted with smiles.
We were traveling for a family celebration at Fort Drum. I was traveling with my husband, by wheelchair bound brother and my 90 year old mother. Our stay was surprisingly pleasant! Great accommodations, handicapped accessible, clean, convenient ... and the staff was AMAZING! Felt like we made new friends in the Watertown area. We will definitely be back! Also - I requested early check in and to have the two rooms next to each other. Both requests were granted happily! Best hotel I have stayed in ... in many, many years. Candlewood has high standards and makes each guest feel special and important! See you in August!
Our purpose for visiting Watertown was to see family at Ft. Drum. We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the base. The room and bathroom were spacious and looked like there were recent updates. Bed was very comfortable There was a kitchenette although we only used the refrigerator. Suggestions for improvements: Oversized lounge chair was too big for the room; one of the chairs at the table/desk was too low and felt awkward when using the table. There was an outdoor patio with grills but would be nice to make a more comfortable place to relax outdoors; also a continental breakfast would have been appreciated. Overall, we were satisfied and will return again.
Didnt know not all Candlewood Suites were not Pet Friendly. Thats one of the main reasons I use them, we have several dogs. They could stay, but the cost for the dogs was going to be more than the people! Same thing for the Candlewood on base. Have used several other locations with reasonable pet charges. Will not use this location again.
We were experiencing a blizzard and my home lost power. I called the hotel and they still had power and allowed pets. I put my kids and cat/dog in the car and made it safely to the hotel. It was perfect because there was a kitchen so I could cook for the family and we loved that we had heat. We watched the blizzard from the room, knowing we were all safe and together.
The staff at the Candlewood Suites was perhaps the most accommodating, friendliest hotel staff that I have ever encountered. They allowed me to schedule my room cleanings so that I could be available to put my pet in his carrier for safety. They were helpful and responded immediately to any and all requests that I had. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone needing an extended stay hotel near Fort Drum. Kudos to the management team here! We greatly appreciated everything that you did for us!
Hotel was very nice, clean, and room was comfortable. Staff was helpful and very professional. Would definitely stay here again in the near future. Room was perfect, bed very comfortable and decent size. Love having a little kitchen and fridge so I was able to warm up food and store drinks. Overall great stay, thank you.
All staff at the Candlewood were very friendly and courteous. The room was clean and very comfortable. We loved playing scrabble, and preparing our own meals in the full-size kitchen. The bed was comfy, and the towels were surprisingly thick and soft (not like the usual cheaper thin hotel towels). The view outside our room was a gorgeous field, very peaceful and calming. The convenience of stores down the road ended up being a blessing.
This place sucks. staff sucks. the elevator sucks. now add the smell of vomit to this place and everything gets worse. staff didnt really care about the vomit smell even though I brought it to their attention several times. the tv sucks. the tv remote sucks, you cant change the channel with the remote if youre not within 4 feet of the tv. the AC sucks, it wont help with the heat or humidity. the AC wont cool the room.
I look forward to coming to Candlewood Suites Watertown- Fort Drum a few times per year and this is is always the place I enjoy staying at and choose first. This stay was no exception. Super value, comfy rooms, fully equipped with great amenities. Lovely staff. Great coffee. Conveniently located to where I need to be for work and leisure. I cannot say enough good things about this property. Highly recommended if traveling in this area.
Nice looking hotel and didnt really have a problem until the first evening of our two night stay. Firstly we were on the top floor and received a noise complaint. We are 4 women in a room and barely making a peep. Secondly I woke up in the morning with a bug crawling on my face and if that wasnt enough we found 2 more bugs the next morning. Needless to say we will never be staying there again!!! Not impressed with the staff in handling the situation either. The 2nd morning werent the only ones to complain about bugs. I think they need to fumigate!!
This was an excellent choice for our stay when visiting our soldier at Fort Drum. Very nice staff always ready to help. The room was very nice and I was able to make a couple of his favorite home cooked meals. I needed a few items such as measuring cups and spoons, but there was a dollar store within walking distance, so no problem there. Walmart was also in very close proximity, so I didnt have to go far to get the food items I needed. One concern we had was the possibility of setting off the fire alarm, so I asked the front desk and was advised to open a window and NOT open the door to the hallway when cooking. Too bad someone else didnt think to ask before they started cooking as the fire alarm was set off by one of the other guests while we were there. The stove top is controlled by a timer, which I didnt realize when I started cooking, so a guest cant go away and accidentally leave a burner on for long. The one complaint was that the temperature in the room was warm, regardless of the setting on the thermostat. By opening the window and the door to the hallway, however, it created a nice breeze. I think the temperature may have impacted the sleeping quality as the beds were very nice and everything else was very good.
Everyone here was so friendly. They had complementary coffee 24hrs Also had several kinds of complimentary pie available all day and night on thanksgiving... very nice touch. I was IHG member of the day...big surprise.... and I received a gift bag for this and spun the wheel and won 250 free points. It was awesome. Very good location for shopping and restaurants. Quick drive to neighboring Watertown. Rooms are a great size and kitchen is nice to have. Have stayed here before and will definitely stay again!!
This hotel was very clean and organized. It was my first stay at this chain and was pleasantly surprised on how nice everything is there. They just need better beds and it would be 10s across the board. The staff was very accommodating for our group of about 15 people. Top notch service.
The hotel is good, clean and rates are reasonable. But one of the front desk managers, the man who is a little overweight, is very impolite and rude. If it is not because I am a respectful person I would have kicked his a_s. Im even writing a letter to the Candlewood Hotel headquarters to report this man. The hotel administration needs to give that manager some politeness and costumer service classes. The other manager who took care of me was a very nice and attentive lady.
This is probably one of the best hotels that I have stayed at. From the minute that I checked in until I checked out the staff was exceptional Sandra the manager was extremely professional and polite willing to chat with a guest whenever possible. Michelle, Kendall, Demetrious, and Kelly who worked the front desk were amazing, friendly and extremely competent. They knew the surrounding very well and made some excellent recommendations on where to go and what to do in the area. Melissa the sales assistant was amazing, she always had a cheerful smile and a kind word for the guests and she was very knowledgeable about the IHG reward program and helped me out immensely. Nina, Carrie and the cleaning staff were polite, friendly, and hard working. They didnt mind going the extra step to make my stay there pleasant. Lastly the maintenance crew was on top of everything; Kyle and Rodney were on top of every issue or got to it before it became one. Overall this was an amazing stay one which I would gladly repeat.
I arrived in late July and stayed until 25 Nov. would like to thank front desk staff Kelsey for sending my weekly folios so I could turn into accounting to get expensed on time. Also, big thanks to the manager for allowing me to keep my travel gear in her office when I was called back to Wa state for 4 days . Company required me to check out of my room for those days , saved me a big hassle carrying all my stuff back home for a few days and then return to Watertown again.
The room was what I felt I was paying for; clean accommodations for 3 people who were traveling for leisure. The kitchens help with the cost of meals and facilitates entertaining in while traveling. Some of the furniture was very worn and a better effort could be made making the decor work together but it was all very functional
I thought the rooms would be a bit bigger, but overall it was clean and worked out great for my family of 4.The people on the floor above us were noisy, but when they finally settled down we slept great. There were nearby restaurants (better ones 10 minutes away) and Sacketts Harbor about 20 minutes away - pretty convenient location if you dont mind a little drive. The are looks brand new with more businesses being built nearby (restaurants)The staff at the front desk was super friendly and acommodating..
Unfortunately my sons deployment dates changed several times. The hotel was very flexible with our checkin and checkout times. It was difficult enough knowing that we werent going to see him for months so not having to worry about our hotel was very helpful. We will definitely stay again when he comes back.
My daughter and I stay was excellent. The customer service is excellent. I go to Fort Drum twice a month and I will not stay at any other hotel but Candlewood suites. Heather at the front desk knows how to make my stay comfortable and always there when I need her. The two managers I believe one name is Sandy and the other is Kelly. They are very friendly and understanding. I thank the whole staff including the housekeeping for all their hospitality. Thank you and see you guys soon. LaShus
We are just staying for a night, but it was a rough one. Our family could barely sleep because the ice machine in the kitchenette was clunking all night. Plus, the beds were extremely loud. If you try to move an inch, they start creaking and making a crunching noise- AND they were uncomfortable! Not a great experience for trying to catch some Zzzs but the staff was friendly and the building is clean and nice!
This was for the most part a nice hotel. Friendly staff and nice room with kitchen and nice bathroom. The bed was extremely hard. The staff explained that there is usually a soft topper placed on the mattress. That would have made our stay much nicer, as with the hard mattress we did not sleep well. I would stay here again, as long as the bed was more comfortable with the topper.
This is the second month in row I have stayed at the Candlewood Suites, and this location especially has some of the best staff I have seen at a hotel. They make the stay all the more enjoyable. The rooms are very clean and have everything you need. I feel like this is my home away from home when I travel for business. My only criticism, and it is minor, is the beds are too stiff for my taste. I like a softer mattress. But all things considered, I would recommend this hotel 10 out of 10 times.
The complimentary breakfast is a joke. The rooms do have kitchens so if you dont cooking that no problem. The rooms are nice and being able to wash and dry for laundry for free was definitely a great perk. The pet fee is a little ridiculous $75 for 1-7 days and anything over is $150. I had to request for towels no one came to the room at all. Otherwise its a good hotel if you dont matter paying that ridiculous pet fee and going out for breakfast.
Candlewood Suites was wonderful! A friendly gentleman greeted us and quickly checked us in. Upon entering our room, I was amazed at how large the room was. Wow! My children were fascinated by the kitchenette. The bathroom was equally large for a hotel bathroom. The one drawback to it is having all fixtures in one room: bathtub, sink, and commode. I prefer to have separate rooms so that while one is showering, someone else can be brushing teeth. But this did NOT detract from my stay here at all. Seriously, this was the most comfortable bed and pillows Ive slept on. You will not go wrong booking a stay here!
I know this is probably not a fair review BUT the room they gave us was next to ppl who lived there.... they lived in that room as if no one was around them... Loud is an understatement!!!The TV was on 24/7 and was at high volume the ENTIRE time...Now, you all DO know IF you complain, they usually make it worse for you and purposely bang on the walls and scream even louder...When finding out they lived there we knew nothing would change with them.... theyve gotten used to being that way. we cut our visit short and left earlier... got a room somewhere else..That ALL said.. The ROOM ( given different circumstances ) wouldve been a Great room.... it had just about everything you could ask for.. The kitchen was fully equipped to make whatever you wanted. No oven but stovetop and microwave.... pots, pans, silverware, glasses... and more..The bed was a tad hard for hubby but I was happy with it... Very firm and easier on my back! Disabled parking right next to the doors.. front and back of the hotel.Easy access to everything in the area you could want or need. Super close to Ft Drum if you have family stationed there. We were there for Thanksgiving, seeing my son and family on base.. The hotel had actually provided some food for those who wanted to eat there, lots of nice pies, etc. Super nice place, great room Just the wrong room. Sorry!
I had a super 2 night stay at Candlewood Fort Drum. It is right next to a huge Walmart and a number of other stores and restaurants which is handy. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The fitness centre is great for keeping active. Rooms are comfortable and I love the aspect of having a suite to do utilize especially the kitchen. It was a comfortable and quiet stay and easy to get work done and enjoy leisure too. The DVD player is also awesome to relax and annoy a movie or show during down time. I cant wait to return and highly recommend this property.
Upon arrival at stated check-in time I was informed that my room was not ready yet, and it would be another 45 minutes. A co-worker was also told the same thing upon arrival. We went grocery shopping and took our time, and returned an hour later. This time I was told that my room was still not ready, and it would be another 45 minutes. Finally after another hour and some change, my room was ready. As I travel so often, I have a timely schedule of things to do upon arrival. After waiting so long, I expected a clean room. Well that wasnt the case. There was rice on one of the chairs, and it was horribly stained, a lamp shade was also stained in a similar fashion. I can truly say that this was my worst IHG stay Ive ever had in 13 years of traveling.
Great price for the room. Bed was very uncomfortable and the room needed a lot of updating. Overall, was happy with the time spent there. The TVs were very complicated to use considering the cable wasn’t hooked up to the tv in the bedroom and you needed to use 2 different remotes and the bedroom remote stopped working with the tv and only was able to control the cable.
Upon arrival was rushed through the whole check in process and I travel with wife and two children and have a service dog for one of my children. I was charged a pet deposit twice for my sons service dog that is crate trained. When I finally arrived to room and got settled in went to take shower and tub wouldn’t drain as well as sink! The bed was very uncomfortable and didn’t get a decent nights sleep my whole stay. I honestly would recommend finding another IHG hotel in the area if at all possible.
Nice hotel at a convenient location made our stay at Ft. Drum comfortable. Walls are a little thin so if you are a light sleeper I would recommend asking for an upper floor. Overall, service is excellent and they cant do enough to make you happy. Rooms are nicely sized, beds are very comfortable and kitchenettes are nicely equipped. I have stayed there numerous times and plan to again.
If you want torn up carpet leather missing on the chairs urine stains on the carpet white curtains with brown stains all over them when you shut them then and a tv that doesn’t work this is the place to stay. The outside looks nice but once you open your room door get ready to step back to the 90’s.
I love this hotel. My room was so nice and clean and they kept it that way. They were the most friendly people. I felt like I was at my home away from home. If you have an issue they over come it and it is resolved in a minute. They care about you not just your money. They are pet friendly and adored my dog and she loved it as well. We had visitors and the hotel let them bring their dog over without complaints. I will stay here everY time I come to new york.
My entire experience from walking in the front door to checking out was outstanding. The staff were the best the room was clean and maintained to high standards. The absolute only reason I could not rate higher for cleanliness is there were a few barely noticeable stains on the carpet. I would return in a heartbeat though.
Didn’t expect much but this place is really good and convenient for a 2-star hotel. Staff was kind and polite, room is spacious and clean with a well-equipped kitchen. Free laundry and gym, complimentary coffee. Would definitely stay here next time if travelling to 1000 Islands region again.
Front office staff very nice. Upon entering youll find a little store with food items you might want or need. I highly recommend getting anything you may want early because the shelves were empty when we came back to our suite. Each room has a large but dark bathroom, full size refrigerator sink stove and microwave. It is an extended stay building so you may not find usual vacation travelers. The Candlewood seems to accommodate road workers, truckers, displaced familys and traveling businesses. Truthfully if we knew this we would have looked for another property. But we made the best of it and checked out early in the morning.
As a regular Business Traveler to this property, this is truly the best Hotel team of employees ever. Always ready to serve each guest with a smile and can solve any issue, should it arise. This property is aging gracefully and with the upcoming upgrades will be back to 5 star standards. Thanks so much for always looking after you guests
We really enjoyed and made great use of the kitchenette. The front seat lend us some pots and pans, wine glasses can opener and other kitchen items. The Staff was so nice and helpful that we gave them some of the food we cooked. They also lend us board games for the kids. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
This was our second time staying at the Candlewood Suites-Fort Drum. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms are very clean. It is really easy to get to Fort Drum from the hotel. The location is great. Right across the parking lot, there are several shops/stores- A Chinese buffet, a nail salon, Little Caesars, a dollar store, a clothing store and of course-good old Walmart. Having a kitchen in the room is great, especially for families so you dont have to eat out all the time. They also serve warm cookies in the lobby a few times a week-great personal touch!!Only negative-We found it a little difficult to regulate the temperature in the room.
We found this hotel to have a friendly and helpful staff. Our room was clean and very roomy. Although we did not cook in our room, having a refrigerator was great for our needs. We plan to come back to vacation in this part of New York again in the near future, and will plan to make reservations for this location.
Room was clean and Smart TV was a nice surprise. Lady who checked us in that night was super friendly and amazing. As we left in the morning around 7:30 am, the guy checking us out was incredibly rude and flustered. Staff must be hit or miss, but the property was decent.
Nothing fancy, price seems high for the quality. Staff seemed to be off and very short with us, like we were inconveniencing them. They also gave conflicting answers. Asked if we got new towels daily, one said yes, the next gave us attitude when we asked for towels that never came. Many of the dryers were not working, had to wait to do laundry. Stayed in 1 bed suite. The through wall fan didnt work to circulate a/c from living room to bedroom
This hotel was perfectly serviceable for a night for business travel. The room was pleasant and clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The only real problem with the rooms is that the drapes are fixed so the parking lot lighting could not be blocked out. The exterior is a bit spartan and located right next door to a strip mall. This is both good and bad. It was easy to walk to grab a bite to eat but the traffic noise was occasionally loud.
This hotel was the perfect location to get on base and it was easy access to get to Watertown. The hotel accommodations were nice. The suites were nice. the mattress was not great but I did manage to sleep some nights. Having the lending closet was a definite plus. The fitness center was great and the washer and dryers being free was definitely was great.
The staff is be attentive and professional. They all greet you with a smile and friendly hello. It was the highlight of a long work day to walk through the lobby and be greeted by Heather. The manager was extremely responsive to guest needs and was sure to follow up on any concerns brought to get attention. The entire crew are what makes this Candlewood the place to stay if you find yourself stuck at Fort Drum for a visit
I always stay at this candlewood suites location when im in the area or have friends and family visiting. The staff are great, and the hotel is always clean and feels safe. Right next to a chinese buffet, dairy queen and a super walmart, it is also less than a mile from fort drum. Extremely convenient. The wifi is reliable but not very fast, and there is no pool/hot tub or complimentary breakfast. If this place a hot tub and waffle iron, I would probably just move in and live there...
I have been here for about 9 months now on business. It is a beautiful hotel, very clean all around, very convenient laundry room at no cost. All staff are very pleasant and are eager to please. Very comfortable room. I have dogs with me who love it here as well. Would definitely come back.
The rooms were nice, clean, and comfortable. The low rating is only due to their poor customer service. I booked and recieved a confirmation for a room with 2 beds. I checked in and received a room with only 1 bed. Despite my printed confirmation clearly showing I was booked for 2 beds, I had to book an additional room in a different hotel as a result of their error and refusal to fix it
My family got here around 2 and seen if we could check in early they told us we couldn’t until 3 no biggie! so we went to the zoo got food and came back around 3:15 and the room still wasn’t ready. We checked again at 5:00 and they said it still wasn’t ready! not satisfied at all.
Room was really a lot more than I expected for the price. I had a studio suite and didnt expect it to be so roomy. Only downside was the bed was a little harder than Im used to, and since I dont sleep well the first night away from home ANYWAY, that made my sleep a little interrupted. Second night, much better.
This hotel is by far the dirtiest hotel my family and I have ever stayed at. I highly recommend you do not stay here and find another hotel. I was completely disgusted with our room and other areas of the hotel. Management needs to be retrained on how to teach their employees to properly clean rooms and commen areas.
On a business trip tp Ft. Drum with a stay of two nights. The hotel and furniture our outdated. The room I was put it was not clean and the sheets had hair on them. During the first night, around 1:30AM, I could hear the person upstairs walking to the bathroom and relieving themselves through the rooms- Eww gross!- and repeateadly throughout the early morning. It was the wors sleep ever. On the second night, I find a live cockroach in the room crawling through my clothes. I was disgusted, told the front desk and fortunately was moved to a new room. I would not recommend or stay in this hotel again.
We were on a shopping trip and my daughter is handicapped. They were very helpful and offered to help. Im a self sufficient person and can do it myself. The room was very accessible as was the bathroom. The reason a gave a low score on the bed was not because of the bed but I could not sleep away from home. The bed was very comfortable and my daughter slept like a baby. Only thing was we were on the fourth floor and I worry about fires and not enough handicapped parking spaces, but a large space out back to park. The trip will always be remembered.
My room had a leak coming from the window that caused water to run down the window when it rained. the water stained the walls and the curtains badly, leaving brown water stains on the curtains and wall. My room was serviced and twice within those days serviced I was not left any fresh towels, coffee or disposable cups. However one of the days serviced, The room was cleaned very well and I was given coffee, cups and the dirty dishes were washed. This lets me know its a lack of proper training and supervision.
It’s an ok place. No breakfast provided and the coffee is sub-par even for free hotel coffee. There is no pool or spa but there is a gym and a free laundry. The rooms are large and clean and they have kitchenettes which is nice. The over all best feature was the shower. The tubs are large and the water pressure was fantastic. For the price, in the area, it’s pretty ok.
The hotel exterior was clean and newer looking. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly. The free coffee was very good. The interior was clean, except for the bathroom, which was not clean and I had to go buy lysol and clean it to my wifes satisfaction, as she did not want the staff to clean it as she wouldnt trust they would do it properly. The suite was nice and clean as well. So overall it was okay, however the toilet issue really was problematic.
Hotel was cozy...bed made lots of noise, as well as the fan in the bathroom was picking up the air current from outside and was very noisy throughout my stay. Many guests experienced theAmityville Horror flies swarming their room. I only had one in mine. Staff was very friendly. Not much to eat near hotel, Little Caesars, Taco Bell, and Wal-Mart. However, the BBQ area at the hotel is very nice!
Staff was friendly. Kelsey at front desk was great. Very convenient location for shopping and eating. Kitchen was nice even though we only needed it for breakfast this stay. Enjoyed this hotel so much that while we were there we booked our next stay for us and other family members:)
The location was perfect for what we needed. Carpet had this wei d wet feeling and the chairs were peeling. But the beds were comfortable. One night at 2am the front desk called and woke us up to tell us our extra pillows were ready. But we didn’t order any. And one time we called the front desk for a bathroom emergency and no one answered so we had to go down physically to ask for help
When using an extended stay hotel such as Candlewood Suites in Evans Mills, NY, having the convenience of a kitchenette as well as a Wal-Mart Super Center next door is perfect. Lessons learned over time when staying in this hotel chain are as follows:1 - Ensure your room is as far away as possible from the cleaning staff lounge, the elevator, the snack/ice machines, and the laundry/gym if you need quiet.2 - Understand that daily room cleaning, to include taking out the trash is not provided. Cleaning takes place once per week. Taking the trash out and daily cleaning is your responsibility. Thats why they charge less per day than full service hotels.3 - If you are a non-smoker, understand that some of these hotels designate smokers rooms on certain floors. I have found that these are normally the 3rd and/or 4th floors. On those floors, while all rooms are not smoking rooms, the smell pervades the entire floor, especially near the elevator.
I was very pleasantly surprised. I had a great room, great service, everything I needed in the suite had been well thought out, the TV was perfect. The space in the room was perfect, nice amenities...right down to good shampoo! Restaurant in walking distance, friendly staff. No complaints.
Stayed here for two weeks and missed it when I left. Everyone was super pleasant from employees to guests. The rooms were incredibly clean. This place had a lot to offer. They even had halloween activities, and grilling outside! They have a gym and a snack room. Right next to walmart, Wayback Burger, Taco Bell, a buffet, Dairy Queen and Dollar Tree. Stay here if you get the chance to!
First time I have been disappointed. The hotel really needs to upgrade and spruce up the place. Couch was VERY uncomfortable, springs in it really gone and had to use both couch cushions stacked on each other to be able to sit on it. Bed was not comfortable at all and kitchen area had a few issues.I must say though that the staff upon arrival were very friendly and professional, even when dealing with a line of people that were waiting to check in or out. The hotel is VERY convenient to main highways and Alexandria Bay area. Staff was very helpful in directing us to Boldt Castle and other areas of interest close by.
This stay was unbelievable bad. My stay started by not being greeted as a Spires or any type of member. The assistant manager attitude was horrible. He was not friendly at all. The room was dirty. Had old rusty pan, A/C didnt work and TV was broken for almost a week. Left a note for management to call me in regards to issues I had and no call was returned. When I asked why no one didnt call me they said they didnt think it was important. The sales manager and two young ladies at the front desk were awesome. Without them it would have been the worst hotel experience ever.
We were celebrating our 30th Anniversary and wanted the option to prepare most meals in our room and proximity to hiking trails. This hotel has shopping nearby, a great room and friendly staff. We totally enjoyed our stay and will return when we are back in the area. The full size fridge and two burners plus microwave offered great options for cooking and we were able to borrow a toaster oven as well.We loved the upstate NY options for hiking and sightseeing. The Watertown area also offered a good variety of shopping options.
If you need a place to stay for more than 1 or 2 nights, this is a great option. The fact that they except pets is a huge bonus for me. I bring my dog to work with me every day, so when I have a job out of town, its tough to find a nice place to stay and allows pets. While heir pet fee is rather steep ($75 for up to 5 nights) it is what it is. I think they might be better off doing a per night fee like most places, as I only stay 3 nights every week. I will be doing this for the next 5-6 months and will be happy to stay at Candlewood suites Watertown for this whole time.
My wife and I were in the area for some rest and relaxation with some side trips for golfing, sightseeing and shopping. The only items that I could bring up were firstly the location. The hotel is a bit out of the way (a 10-15 minute drive to Watertown) and difficult to find at first. Secondly, there are kitchenettes where the stovetop is at the wrong angle for comfortable use (should be turned 90 degrees). Other than these two problems, our visit to the region was great. The staff helped us find information on 1000 island cruises which we took and were very happy with. Also, they recommended a couple of golf courses in the area and directions on how to get to them. If in the area again, this hotel would be in our sights for a good stay.

2022-06-27Rooms aren’t bad. generally clean; mattress pad had stains wouldn’t replace.if you have Children i would not recommend this place. staff has poor Customer interaction skills. the guy in 419 complained daily. final straw was at 5pm on 6/26 when the lackey on for the hotel told me that if i didn’t keep my children. quiet we’d have to leave. he comes back 10 minutes later because creeper in 419 complained again. this time he tells me that if i can’t control my kids he’s calling the police because he doesn’t want to deal with it.for context kids are 5, 18 months. only complains were made during 10am to 7pm……hotel “quiet hours are 10pm-7am.

2021-11-30The hotel was clean and welcoming. Bill at the front desk was friendly and accommodating. Other staff walked around looking a bit unimpressed and not very friendly. No smiles or hellos. The coffee pot was not working in the Cupboard; however, Bill advised he had plenty at the front desk to be made in the room. The room was nice with a small kitchenette with all the amenities you would need. Overall a nice stay and would recommend.

2022-05-21DO NOT Stay at this hotel. Our first room had mold in windows..I asked for another room due to my husband having asthma. Second room windows looked alot better, but this room had a clogged sink and left over facial hair from last guest. Our pillows had stains all over! We had to pay full price for both nights. Also the other guest that were partying outside were loud and smoking pot that I could smell through my windows. Not the best place to stay if you have children for sure! I would rather sleep in my car then stay here again.

2022-05-01The comfortable bed was probably the highlight of the room. I was able to sleep well without much of an issue. The tv and internet also helped quite a bit in terms of relaxation.

2022-04-24The employees are rude and disinterested in helping guests. The front desk worker did and said nothing when I reported our room door being broken and that it caused me to injure myself. House keeping was loud and disruptive in the morning while we were trying to sleep.

2021-10-12We were very pleased with our stay at the Candlewood Suites. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We really liked the kitchenette and the ice maker in the fridge. The hotel staff was friendly and we enjoyed the Halloween decorations in the lobby. In the lobby they have a lending area with games, crockpots, etc…very cool. I would definitely book this hotel again.

2021-11-25We have usually been very satisfied with our stay at this hotel. Not this time. None of the staff wore face masks for the protection of the guests, the refrigerator/freezer unit in the Candlewood Cupboard was not functioning, there was a mix-up with our room on check-in. No one checked on the vaccination status of guests despite a sign saying that unvaccinated people must where masks. I did not feel safe at all in this hotel.

2021-11-23I forgot my purse in the room and didn’t notice it until I was 100+ miles away. I spoke to a wonderful lady who said she would FedEx it for next day delivery. I received it intact with no missing items. I commend the maid who found it, the lady who took it for safekeeping, the manager who sent it to me, and anyone else involved. Because of this, you kind people, I will have a nice holiday. Be assured that I will pay your kindness forward.

2021-10-31We live on the road for business. We visited this hotel two months before, and it was like new and wonderful. This time, when I checked in to my room I saw one dead fly. I thought I could remove that. Once checked in, I was sitting at the table when I heard continual buzzing. I opened the windows to find fifty to one hundred dead flies in the frame, a hole that looked as if it had been cut , and multiple openings in the frame that allowed for the flies to enter the room. When I reported this to the man at the front desk, I was told that it was that time of year. There was nothing that could be done, because it was that time of year. When we last visited, it had been in August. We were there at the end of October!! I was traveling with a work group, and there were few hotels available. I asked for tape and a vacuum cleaner. It took me two hours to kill all of the living flies, remove the dead ones, and plug up all of the holes and openings in the setting that allowed easy entry for the flies. The next day I had a more limited repeat of the same. Fortunately, it was only a one day job. My situation was not as bad as my coworker who was taken to four filthy rooms before finding a room down the road. Wish I’d thought of it. My room was clean, though I did wipe down he surfaces. The laundry room was filthy. I simply cannot understand how a hotel could go down so fast. As I wrote to the hotel, it was as if the gremlins had been let lose. I think either a lot needs to change, or they don’t need to be under the IHG name. I took photos, but I am only able to upload one. I stuffed the openings, taped them…the stuff on the windows is what I was spraying
