Cantina in other cities:
Amazing Place! Fantastic Margaritas! Mix flavors in their large pitchers. Amazing food! My only complaint is they are too busy. Which is good for them but bad for trying to get in. MAKE A RESERVATION on most days and really on weekends and REALLY during track. 10/10 LOVE THIS PLACE
Got takeout on a really busy night and really enjoyed the food. Taco order came with three tacos, rice and beans, as well as chips and salsa - I was stuffed! Service for pickup was great despite them being super busy at the time. delicious and really well priced for the amount of food.
Coconut shrimp is my favorite thing to order from here; crunchy, creamy avocado mango dip. Other appetizers are also good: street corn, chicken wings, duck rolls. Tacos, quesadillas, and fajitas all come in good portion and tasteful. Nice and spacious in-door eating area in the new restaurant location. Service is friendly. Overall, great experience, definitely worth a visit.
Most of the Food was very good but felt like it could have used a little more salt. The Chips where oddly thick a dip was very oregano heavy. The Mole was good. The waitress seamed to be at the end of the patience and that was a little off putting but I would likely go here again.
Best Mexican food Ive ever had ! We were visiting Saratoga Springs and decided to drop by for lunch. This was the best meal in a very long time. Love their ambience and the food is really good! We had the street corn (terrific), calamari (huge portion, great sauce, decent calamari) , shrimp tacos and shrimp burrito. Everything except the Calamari was terrific and I would absolutely recommend this place!
Nice place to eat right on the main street in Saratoga. First time there went pretty well. The chips and salsa were great, drinks were good(not as much alcohol as Id like), and the Carne asada tacos were awesome. The atmosphere in the place was nice too, and waitstaff was very attentive towards us. Only reason for 4 stars was because my girlfriend had to send back her tacos. They werent inedible, but they werent doing it for her. The problem was rectified very promptly. Would definitely recommend.
First let me say they have the best tortilla chips and a great happy hour (though its only in the limited seating bar area). However, I dont go here often because prices are high for food that is mediocre at best. Ive had a number if dishes over various visits and the food has always been bland and in desperate need of more seasoning.
Flavorless. The music was so loud, we could barely have a conversation. I know thats subjective and is dependent on the atmosphere that the restaurant is trying to create so I wouldnt necessarily slam them for that. The food, however, had no flavor. From the pico with thick, hard chips to the burrito, everything lacked seasoning. Ive gotten used to spice levels being milder than Im used to but this good was just bland.
Been going to The Cantina for years. Always loved it but not this time. Chips and salsa came after our meals. The chips tasted very stale not yummy like usual. My friend and I ordered the Baja Fish tacos—My go to choice. We couldn’t eat the tacos. They werent’ prepared correctly. Like not baked and soft. Mostly breading on the fish. Oh, please Cantina don’t let your food slip into mediocre or less. They bring out the food so fast too. Like. Let’s get them in and out fast.
Wife and I ate at the Cantina many years ago (in the old location across the alley), and were pleased. So we decided to go there for lunch with our son.The new location (the old Lillians) is very nice - especially like the large doors that open to the outside. It was a beautiful day so we chose a table out on the sidewalk. That was a very pleasant spot until the sun rose higher in the sky and the umbrella no longer shaded the table - and it got extremely hot!Service is very good. Especially like the tortilla chips (extra thick to make it easy to pick up salsa), and the house-made salsa was fresh and very tasty. Our lunches were fine - we dont eat Mexican food enough to be experts, but it seemed to me that the recipes are tamed down a bit, especially the chicken verde enchiladas that I had. Please dont misunderstand - I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch, but it seemed that the food wasnt as spicey as I recall from eating in other Mexican restaurants. Thats not a bad thing - the chicken verde was actually quite good. Wife and son both enjoyed their lunches as well.
I suppose I should stop expecting much of so-called Mexican restaurants north of the Magnolia Curtain. However, wed read reviews of this place stating that it had great Mexican food and the best margaritas.Reviews that were no doubt written by people whod never had decent Mexican food or good margaritas.Maybe its just me, but I like it when my food is warm, when its supposed to be warm. No worries about, Be careful, this plate is very hot, that you usually get at a Mexican restaurant. The mole sauce was barely room temperature and my beans were solidly cold, as though theyd just opened the can and spooned them out.Speaking of which, they do NOT prepare their food fresh. I asked the waiter to leave off any lettuce or tomato (as thats what my food eats.) I meant the usual salad garnish on the plate. He thought I meant in the mole chicken enchiladas. He said, Well, our enchiladas come pre-rolled, so we cant unroll them and take anything out. I wasnt asking for that, but what he revealed is they dont grill the chicken and then roll them into enchiladas. They buy them prepackaged, just heat them up, and the pour lukewarm mole sauce, probably from a jar, over the top. If theyre doing that with the enchiladas, then theyre probable doing that with burritos, chimichangas, and everything else.I didnt like this place a bit and cant recommend it.
Cantina is a great spot wether you’re going for dinner or happy hour. The food and drink are consistently delicious, that atmosphere is always great and the service is outstanding. Would definitely recommend Cantina to anyone in the area or visiting! The 408 event space upstairs is gorgeous as well!
Went there today ( second time at this restaurant) and was just as disappointed as the first time. Todd was mediocre and service was just bad. Our sever acted like he just did not want to be there and had no experience in customer service. Had to return the glass ( for my beer) because it was disgustingly dirty. We left a 15% tip just because. Our server did not deserve any !!!!
Nice atmosphere and good service. The food was good but nothing out of the ordinary for Mexican fare. The reason for a rating of only 3, value for price paid when it comes to their Margaritas. Made with a standard bar sour mix and Sauza well Tequila, $11 for such a liw quality cocktail is too high. For $11 I would expect some fresh lime juice and perhaps a better line of Tequila such as Espolon or Altos. Cost about $1 per shot. We wont be having cocktails there again if it isnt happy hour.
So this place is absolutely racism. They asked me my ID. I am from another country as a tourist and they sad- we do not accept that kinda ID issued another country. I could order even a drink for myself. Never come back! Food looks like Mexican. Tastes like I am eating Nachos that opened 2 days ago
Love this restaurant! The carne asada tacos and verde enchiladas are amazing! Taco Tuesday you can sample tacos for a fair price. Food comes quickly and the staff are kind. For sure need a reservation or expect to have to wait as they are always very busy. Great margaritas and beer on tap, especially Modelo. Always clean. In the warmer months the front doors are open to the outside dining area and gives a great atmosphere! Definitely recommend!
One of the best Mexican fine dining experiences in Saratoga region. Summer time, Broadway street eatery at its best, is what Cantina is about. The freshly baked free tortilla chips and salsa for the table is awesome. Didnt try any drinks here but they looked awesome. Excellent service and ambience. Must recommend.
A few days ago, on our way to Lake George, we decided to make a lunch stop at this Mexican restaurant in Saratoga Springs. Even though the place seemed to be a very popular destination for many locals, the experience was, to say the least, very disappointing. The quality of the food was acceptable, but the taste and appearance was very bland, overcooked and without the spicy kick you expect from Mexican dishes. We had two chicken fajitas (without the hot sizzling grill), steak quesadillas, chimichangas and a Mexican chop salad. The facility has a great location and the indoor dining has the advantage of fresh air from the open doors. The service was actually good, but not from our waitress, but from a very efficient woman that made sure all tables and customers were well taken cared off. I am not sure if she was the manager, but if she is not, she should be.
We had lunch with done Photographer friends (The Harris Company) that highly suggested Cantina as one of their favorite places. I had the Chicken burrito bowl, my wife had the veggie burrito, he had taquitos and quesadilla. Everything was fresh and delicious. The service was great. If you are in the area, we can highly recommend this place to eat.
I was visiting from out of town and was craving tacos. Instead, I wound up getting the short rib/oxtail chimichangas and WOW! Some really good flavors. Also, I love that Cantina had Avion tequila because its hard to find in restaurants. Cant wait to come back and try something else on their menu
We had a pitcher of Strawberry Jalepeno margs and they were incredible!!! Also had the street corn and stuffed jalapenos for apps which were awesome. Superb flavor! For entrees we had enchiladas mole and chimichangas both chicken and the flavors were wonderful. To finish off the meal we had the churros which were waaayyy better than anticipated!! Overall great meal great service!!! Make sure you make reservations ahead because they are always busy!!!
Best quesadillas Ive ever had. Not greasy, a lot of meat and perfect amount of cheese. The tortilla chips are flavourless and feel like Im scraping the tomato sauce from the floor of a cheap motel with cardboard pieces from the moving boxes you have in the car while driving across country after youve lost your job and broke up with your bf and then youre wondering how youll pay for the speeding ticket you got before. 5 stars definitely recommend.
Excellent Chicken Verde Enchiladas! The chicken tinga & verde sauce was very flavorful with a modest amount of zing. The bar tender modified a raspberry margarita for me. Only negative was they use your phone number to text that your table is ready & they got our number wrong. They apologized.
The hosts at the front were very nice and attentive. It looked busy when we walked up, but we had a reservation so they were able to seat us quickly. The food is great, I had an ultimate margarita, street corn, and a lobster burrito. No complaints there, highly recommend the corn. The waiter was Joey and he is the reason Im leaving a less than average star review. Overall he was a less than average server, not really engaged and never came to give us the check in a reasonable amount of time. We had to hand delivered the card to him and he still ignored our request as he went among his normal activities before coming to us. I understand order of operations but it was just very rude.I tipped him more than I should have, ~15%, because I dont like the reputation black people have as tippers and I tend to go a little high.
I love this restaurant because it has a great ambience about it. Its always busy and its decorated nice inside and they have an outdoor patio as well. My friend and I went back for a second time and was pleased just as much as the first time. They also have a really great bartender named Serena. She is super friendly and helpful. Im sure shes a great asset to this business. My friend and I had the cheese quesadilla and it comes with a Chipotle dipping sauce and sour cream and salsa. Its not a little portion that you get. I couldnt eat it all and neither could my friend so we ended up taking a lot home. We both had a house margarita which was very good. My friend had the frozen kind and I had the standard kind. But both were so good. They also offer on each table a fresh cone of salted tortilla chips with fresh salsa to munch on before they bring your dinner or lunch. I highly recommend this restaurant.
This is a great place to stop for lunch or dinner along the main street in Saratoga Springs. The service is excellent, they were very attentive. You get chips and very good salsa and I would highly recommend their margaritas. I got tacos which were very good. My dining companions got the taco salad and enchiladas which they recommended. There are some tables in front and the inside of the restaurant is nice as well.
With great sorrow I have to give it a star because it is the fourth time I come and they continue in the same thing, this time I ordered tacos from the shepherd and the tortillas were cold, the rice is that peculiar flavor of rare condiments that have nothing to do with Mexican food: Im sorry, I get too disappointed when this happens to me.
Had been here a few times years ago. They seem to have become slightly more upscale now, food is a little pricier, decor a little nicer. We were seated immediately and the waiter was very attentive and friendly. The menu is a bit heavy on the alcohol, Saratoga I know, and a bit light on the food. Sometimes restaurants carry a limited menu so that they have fewer dishes, but execute them very well. This seems to be what they are doing because our food was delicious and presented very nicely. I ate the chicken chimichanga, right amount of food, very good.
I was nervous to try a new Mexican restaurant... Im a creature of habit and I know what I like. WOW!! It was excellent!! The tortilla chips are thicker than your normal chips and they were delicious. The jalapeno peppers appetizer was very good, I like the red sauce and the crema. I got the Cartina tacos and the flavor was excellent! Just a squeeze of fresh lime, that is provided, and my taste buds were in heaven.I also tried their skinny margarita which was excellent! Hands down the best skinny margarita Ive ever had.
Myself and my guest went here last nightHorribleFirst our Brussels spout appetizer was given to the table next to us. The waitress had to go pick it up and put on our table. We saw the other customer did not touch it so not too bad. But then the waitress knock over the water on our table. My sizzling fajitas came out in a bowl , omgMy guests tacos came out in some kind of bread not corn or flour tortillasOrdered extra chips and salsa never cameHip hop music playing in the restaurantHands down the worst “ Mexican “ restaurant i have ever been to
For sure, this was the most culinary experience which I have ever had in my life. After being seated, it was at least 15 minutes before we were greeted and were able to order drinks. We almost left at this point, realizing we were not being treated well. Finally, we were able to order dinner, two entrees and an appetizer. After a very long wait, we were brought our entrees without getting our appetizers. We couldnt even bring this to the attention of the waitress, however, since we did not see her until at least 20 minutes after eating. We were about to leave without paying since we had not been receiving any attention. When she finally did return, we asked for the manager. We were then told that there was no manager on duty, despite it being 5:30 on Taco Tuesday at a Mexican restaurant (thats a load of bologna!) We then expressed to her that we would not be paying for such a dreadful experience and she was able to magically get this comped without a manager. I highly recommend you avoid Cantinas!
This review may prove especially useful for persons of color who may be considering this restaurant. Read on to learn why your background may be relevant (fellow POC, you may find the sound of this experience all too familiar and should be aware of this risk should you choose to eat here). Without further ado...Our first stop was the rooftop bar before our reservation. Its a nice set up and the hostess was polite and helpful. However our experience soured once we endeavored to order drinks. We waited patiently for several patrons ahead of us to place and receive their order. However even when they were finished we received no acknowledgment from the bartender, despite our close proximity. After waiting a bit longer with not so much as a glance in our direction (altogether about ten minutes) my sister spoke up and asked if we could order. She received an affirmative nod in reply only to have him then turn and ask another group (who indicated their desire to order after us) what they would like to drink.Annoyed that we were obviously being ignored, I curtly asked to order drinks but my sister decided to just forget it and said lets go. As we were turning to leave he finally addressed us, and asked to ID every person in our party---a request not made of a single one of the seven or eight other people served before us. Mind you, Im middle aged, every member of our party is creeping up on 40, and though wed all love to believe otherwise we know we look our respective ages. Nevertheless my sister and I complied, retrieving the IDs of the other members of our party who lingered elsewhere in the crowd, only to return and have the bartender tell us everyone had to personally appear in front of him to verify their identities.Again, this was not a request made of anyone else who preceded us. I suppose some credit is due to the bartender for being creative enough to employ the covert method of mistreatment known as selective rule enforcement---if called on this behavior he could simply claim to be following the law. In any event, we finally received our drinks and moved on with our evening dinner plans without incident (the tacos, margaritas and waitress were great). All in all Im sure this is a great place to come for drinks if you are white. However, I would advise you to think twice if you find yourself outside of this category.
Great place good food. only giving 2 ⭐️ do to the manager so mean and so rude. party of 10 they didn’t want to put 2 tables together so we had to seat separate. No prb. Not to mention she made my daughter cry by telling her not to play on the table. We didn’t find out do to crying until we got home . Great place like that doesn’t deserve a mean manager to the guests & specially kids.
Food was pretty good. We did takeout, which isnt always easy to do with Mexican food. As a vegetarian, I wasnt super impressed with the non-meat options on the takeout menu, but the mushroom enchiladas got good reviews so I wanted to try them, and I definitely agree theyre tasty!Other items (quesadilla and cactus fries) were spicier than I would have liked (I am admittedly kind of a wuss about spicy hot food... A mild/medium salsa person), and werent advertised on the menu as being spicy so that was disappointing. My husband tried one of the burritos and thought the sauce was weird, but loved the chicken nachos. Also got the skinny margarita (lime juice, no sour mix!). Very tasty, altho it did taste like bottled key lime juice, which was good but unexpected. However, not strong at all. I ended up adding my own tequila. So overall I feel like theres a lot of potential here and its definitely better than a lot of other Mexican food in the area. Will have to try again when we feel safe eating indoors!
If there was a way to give this place a 0 star I would. We ordered take out. We ordered Korean Beef Tacos. They were nothing but ground beef with a bunch of slop on top. The beef had absolutely no ingredients other than beef and sugar. It was vile!!! The portion size could not feed a child. it was more like an appetizer rather than a dinner. Dont waste your money unless you are just into sitting outdoors on Broadway in Saratoga Springs.
Incredible experience at Cantina. Heather is a tequila aficionado, so kind and generous. She explained our tequilas to the tee and personally checked to see how we were doing multiple times. If you are dining in, ask for Fiona as your server. She was so sweet to us, taking the time to talk with us rather than just doing a drive by.Order the nachos. You will not be disappointed. We travel around to find the best nachos in the country and Cantina has taken one of our top 5 spots. While you are at IT, order the Street Corn. I very much avoid corn on the cob, and I could not resist it after I tried.I highly recommend Cantina. Fiona and Heather, keep it up!
Great place with good food and good people. Customer service was perfect. I asked for extra crispy chicken wings for an appetizer and they tasted great. For lunch I got what is probably the best make your own Chicken Fajitas I’ve ever had. Overall 10/10 experience, I’m definitely gonna eat here again.
Nope, not Mexican. American that thinks he can have a Mexican restaurant. 2 stars because help seemed nice but my wife and I paid for our food and bevs and walked to Salt n Char for a great dinner. Weve been to Mexico probably a dozen times, this is not Mexican. Not a fan of El Mexicano either, they are authentic Mexican but I thought food was bland and experience was not good (see my review on that place). Kinda sad, in a town that lives on ranch hands and jockeys from Latin America youd think theyd have a good Mexican or Latin America restaurant. Anyway, go to El Mariachis in Albany. Amazing food with a menu designed and cooked by Mexicans. They also have Spanish dishes, never been to Spain but it tastes great. My favorite is Enchaladias, especially Suizas style. The green and red sauces are great too. Tamales with pork and green sauce! Real deal salsa and chips, and tres leches for dessert. Thanks
The service staff were kind and attentive. The food was great other than the house made tortilla chips. They were so tough I thought I was going to chip a tooth on one of them. The guac was okay, but the tomato salsa was to die for! The bar tender knows exactly how to mix drinks. None of the drinks were overpowering, which was a relief!
Very crowded and the wait for dining outside was almost an hour. Fortunately there was a bookstore close by we could browse and sit in to waste time. Finally when we were seated we received good service but the food wasnt as authentic as I wouldve hoped. Not that it was bad just a little over priced for such small portions and not at all mexican. Would probably not go there again but it did seem like a pretty popular spot for the locals there.
Menu was pretty good. We all had tacos; son had the shrimp, hubby had beef and I had ahi tuna. Really skimpy with the tuna. 3 thin 2 slices on each taco but lots of veggie filler. I thought the filling was better without the taco and ate like a salad. Lots of shrimp and beef on the other tacos. Service very good.
We were there for the memorial day weekend, the place was recommended tk us by our rafting instructor.I am glad we got eat the yumm food in the restaurant. The poace was busy as ut was sunday lunch time. We made the reservation and got the table in 20mins.We ordered the drinks amore and guava mai tai. The amore was hands down the best vodka cocktail i have ever had. Just perfect for sunday brunches. Our server recommended us mushroom enchilladas, fish tacos and nachos from the appetizer section... we truly devoured it. Glad we went with her recommendations. To finish it up all my son ordered the tres leches cake and we all went home hapoy after that meal.
This place is ok, asked if guacamole is made fresh in front of you, waitress said yes but brought out a bowl of pre-made which had way to much lime juice in it probably to preserve it the brisket tacos were dried out, service wasnt the greatest but atmosphere is awesome.
We decided on Saratoga Springs to meet family halfway from Queensbury, NY. Saturdays are usually busy in this town but this was evening was horse racing season busy. After choosing Cattina despite the 90 minute wait, we were told we could wait for our table to be ready attheir rooftop bar. For a party of six this was an excellent option. Very pleasant setting w/ excellent service from the young male bartender.45 minutes later we were seated. Our server was Bethany F. Drinks around and then she took our dinner orders. Queso Fundido ($11) & mexcian street corn ($8) for shared apps. Everyone was was very happy w/ their choices: short rib chimichanga ($17), taco salad ($15), verde enchilades ($17), short rib empanada ($12), gazpacho ($9), cheese quesadilla ($13), & muy bueno chicken enciladas w/ an authentic mole (17)- a must try dish. Also complimentary churros for dessert-nice.Service at bar, at table, & from the kitchen were excellent on a very busy evening. If theres a shortage of workers in the hospitality business it was not in evicence here.Note: all restaurants during the Saratoga racing season will be busy from 5-9pm. Not all take reservations. Plan on 90 minute waits.A very fun visit w/ family at an excellent place.Thank you to Bethany F, the batender on the roof top, the kitchen & the Cantina.See you in September. Thank you.Nick & Liz, Albany, NY
All of above 4 stars was for Hailey, we were there on Sep 6 around 6 PM and she literally care about our food. I had some cheese on my food without knowing that, she know find out that I am vegan before taking orders and she take care of. Hard day to work but we were happy to have her by us. She was very good, truly nice.Restaurant has a few options but over all not enough vegan choice. I will be there 2 three months every year, and I hope I see vegan options more.
The restaurant is beautiful. The food was acceptable. Not fantastic, but good. The prices were high. Not going to lie, I think $15 for 3 tacos is a lot. Our waiter was great. Very personable, knowledgeable, and attentive. The bathrooms are not on the same floor. Thats fine until your 3 waters and a half a pitcher of margaritas in. Over all a very nice experience.
Food was great! I seem to say that alot but! Saratoga doesnt necessarily stand as the best location for great eateries, more for the clubin and drinks vibes. This place stands above others and provide some pretty good options on the menu. That SF lobster burrito smh tough money lol.On tap menu (drinks) pretty solid too. 👌🏾
We travel a lot and are definitely food snobs. Cantinas spicy shrimp tacos are the best Ive ever had: full of flavor with just the right amount heat. The Catalina enchiladas also have a rich flavor where you can definitely taste the chocolate in the mole sauce while still experiencing the fullness of Mexican spice. Cantina is a local treasure that is casual and fun (with the best, most creative bartenders in town), with a hint of laid back sophistication. P.S. the chips and salsa have always been fresh and tasty.
Delicious food, fast and friendly service, a-plus all around. I got the spicy beef enchiladas, and my wife got the shrimo burrito bowl. My wife has celiac and the fact that she could have the fried ice cream gluten free made her night! Well be coming back every time we visit Saratoga.
Food was so so. My burrito was barely warm and my side salad was not that good. The French fries that came with the order were terrific. The only burrito I could get with beef was the childrens size burrito, they do not serve an adult size beef burrito. I would have been better off with a burrito from Taco Bell. The wait staff were polite and efficient. Overall I was disappointed. Thumbs down on this establishment.
I really hate putting bad reviews up, but I think this place could improve. Fried calamari was pretty dry...aioli, excellent. White Sangria wasnt bad. Avocado tacos with a side of rice and beans...sides were coldish and the tacos were small and kind of messy. Im really sorry. We sat outside. The location and the open wall is beautiful though.
I went on Taco Tuesday, and was pleasantly surprised at how quick my food arrived. My only wish is that I had known there was going to be sour cream on the tacos -- a bit more ingredient descriptions would be handy. Otherwise everything was lovely and was an enjoyable evening I spent catching up with family.
The three stars are 100% towards the staff! Friendly hostesses, great server, and attentive bartenders. The food, however, was awful! I was so sad!! The carne asada had zero flavor I was so shocked! The salsa tasted like it was out of a jar. Highly disappointed with the food, unfortunately will not be back.
Extensive menu with plenty of vegetarian options. Little fried avocado tacos were good but not knocking it out of the park with flavor. My mother loved her salad and her friends enchiladas looked very good. Ive been here before and will return. Good food, drink, service and atmosphere.
Other than sitting in the middle of downtown Saratoga Springs Broadway there wasn’t anything very special about the drinks and food at the Cantina. Although the interior is warm and welcoming and well setup, the drinks and food quickly took any positives away. I decided to have the Ultra Margherita, the Cantina’s top margherita, it was Friday and I was done with work for the week. The drink arrived quickly; I think arrived so quickly based on how easy it must have been to make it based on its size as it was much smaller than I had anticipated. In my minds eye I had envisioned a wonderful looking margherita in a good sized margherita glass, especially given the price of the drink. Instead, a medium sized water glass came out chocked full of ice. I ordered the Taco Salad but asked if I could have the spicy ground beef vice the chicken. The waitress said she didn’t think they could do the beef because it’s “already proportioned out for the Spicy Ground Beef Enchilada”. This inability to adapt within the kitchen to what I thought a simple request had me pondering. In my experience I’ve found that production type of food production facilities can’t adapt but upscale restaurants with a decent kitchen staff often can meet a customer’s requests. The food also arrived very quickly; I was amazed they could have a fresh salad with a slight modification made up as fast as it came out. The food was as expected when it arrives this quickly, tasted as if it’d been sitting around, not very fresh taste. Ordered a second margherita, this time the Ultra, again an upper tier selection, not certain why apparently, I was hoping that possibly the second-tier drink would not arrive in a medium sized water glass, again I was wrong. My search for good Mexican food and drink in Saratoga Springs continues.
I enjoyed my food and drinks but others in my party werent as satisfied. The only issue I had was that it was too dark where we were sat. I will definitely be back. The chips and salsa, brussel sprouts app, guacamole, and enchiladas were delicious. Service was good as well.
Havent had a bad dinner there yet. They seem to make their own tortilla chips, which is a plus. Additionally, any wait staff weve had has been attentive enough. My biggest critique is that the entree always seems to arrive several minutes after I ask myself shouldnt dinner have come out before we polished off the second basket of chips?Tl;dr great tasting food, good service, dont expect to be eating dinner shortly after ordering
I first saw this restaurant as I was walking down to Druthers but after finding Druthers had no more availability for the night, The Cantina stuck with me. My girl went and I went back and got a table.Honestly I was not expecting a lot but it looked rather nice. I quickly learned they had one of the finest selections of tequila that Ive seen. I had the short rib chimi and my girlfriend got a quesadilla. Coming from someone who grew up near NYC, who has access to amazing authentic Mexican, this was some of the best Ive had.Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic place! Would recommend to any lover of Mexican and tequila!!
Great atmosphere, solid food. My wife loves the house Margarita. We had Brussels app, it was crispy but a bit tough. My cheese enchiladas with Mole were tasty, the chopped salad was soggy... Now with spinach, used to be romaine. Server, Emily was attentive, polite. In all a nice time.
Wonderful food in general. The salsa is amazing. The side dishes are beans and rice which are ok, but nowhere near as good as the apps and entrees. Stuffed jalepnos were spectacular. I wish theyd offer refried beans instead. Service was great. Ill definitely be returning.
Food was fantastic, esp the avocado taco and the pork carnitas taco. We also had a pitcher of red sangria that was deadly delicious. Great service and very cute inside. We went with our kids age 4, 10, 12 and the kids menu satisfied even the pickiest eater. Would definitely recommend
I am not usually one to rate things but Im from out of town and had an amazing experience here sitting at the bar. Courtney was one of the best bartenders, engaging with me sitting alone while also watching out for the whole bar and doing a million things at once! Not to mention the amazing happy hour and taco Tuesday deals! The manager Heather is super sweet as well when I wanted to tell her of my good experience! I wish I lived much closer so I can come back every day!!!
I love the updated restaurant! The old building was plenty quaint - but this layout is cozy winter or summer. They had some pretty Christmas decorations up. I got some veggie fajitas that had roasted brussel sprouts in them. Yum! A perfect array of spice and crunch. Id highly recommend Cantina in Saratoga.
The menu has a huge variety including vegetarian and non spicy selections. The pricing is fair for downtown Saratoga. The portion sizes are fairly big, I ordered the Chicken Chimichanga that came with a side of rice and beans. The Chimichangas had just the perfect amount of crisp and nothing on my plate was to spicy for me. We spent a lot on the margaritas, they offer a lot of different flavors in them, I suggest having your group decide on one and get a pitcher. The atmosphere is nice. Spacious inside though some tables are small. There is also outside seating, I think it was kind of tight but they did seem to offer bigger parties to sit outside too And They offer reservations.Overall an good experience and helpful staff.
The atmosphere is great. Homemade chips and salsa. I had the lobster burrito and it was amazing. They do a taco Tuesday (discount taco) type event but NOT during the summertime. I would highly recommend this place. Park your vehicle nearby because the restaurant does not have a parking lot. There is a parking structure within a 2 minute walking distance that compensates this
So... The staff was very nice... The mixed drinks were super yummy... But some of the food was missing that robust mexican flavor...I had the Short Rib chimichanga and the meat was so soft it melted in your mouth... But it was so plain that it left me bummin because the potential is there for sure! Everything looked exactly like they looked online... Which had us excited and eager to dive in but the lack of flavor made us realize that appearance isnt everything! It really is a shame because everything was cooked perfect and the textures were on point... Just lacking in where it matters most.... The flavor... 3 stars from me!
We like to bring friends here when they come to visit Saratoga. The food is good and the vibe is good too but be sure to make reservations well in advance if you plan to go. The free chips and salsa are also great for keeping my kid busy before the food comes. The menu is very good in general, my husband really likes the wings even and hot sauce selections. But not sure whats going on with their chile rellenos dish. Couple times we went they were out of it. Last time we went it was completely different than the first time we had it and it was so engulfed in batter, similar to a corn dog, pretty disappointing. Will stick to tacos next time.
They dont honor reservations on open table. I made one a week in advance to ensure my party had patio seating and pn arrival, I was told they dont do that and I would have to wait 1 to 2 hours for a table to be available. Food is good but not so good I would return after that experience.
I gave 2 stars only because the waitress was good and the chips and salsa were good. However, the rest of the food was not. Everything tastes the same and not in a good way, the enchiladas and tortilla soup, blah. The ice tea was spoiled. The menu says 3 enchiladas, I got two. There is nothing worse than a restaurant that gouges tourists and think they can get away with it. What about your locals? Who I might add are your bread and butter. And it’s way over priced! It will be a cold day before I come back.
Absolutely delicious. We have been coming here for years and are never disappointed. Cantina has such a great menu, and has vegetarian and gluten-free options. Faves are the avocado tacos, steak quesadilla, and the chicken chimichanga. And you cannot forget the cactus fries!! Definitely plan on waiting for a table if you are going for a meal on the weekends, around 20-30 minutes during the busy times.
Its only OK. It was actually much better than the last time I was there, but a tablespoon of beans and a tablespoon of rice as sides on a plate with the small MahiMahi tacos is just stupid and offensive. The tacos themselves were OK. The fish was fresh, if overcooked, and the mango salsa could have used some tang.
Wow!So goodFood was amazing, tons of gluten free options and the appetizers were huge filled us up was hard to eat the mealAlso a very good bar especially for tequilaStaff was great as wellBathrooms clean restaurant very nice with few outdoor optionsParking is alright but thats more of a situation with the town

2022-02-06A nice modern take on their food. Definitely a fan of the drink menu and I thought the customer service was pretty great. It took us awhile to get a drink from the bar and the staffed comped our drinks for that reason, definitely a prudent business in my eyes. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was consistent. Also think the pricing was rather fair for the experience. Would definitely come back.

2022-06-10Very shocked to find good Mexican food this far north!!! Normally after leaving the boarders of Texas the quality drops every 50 miles and once you reach New York or other East Cost cities and states you are throwing dice when you enter a Mexican restaurant.BUT Cantina supried me! The tacos, beans and Mexican rice were great and staff was also great.

2022-06-23I’m not sure why cantina has a 4.3 rating and not a 5! It’s a great Mexican place and has amazing taco bowls … honestly the best I’ve had! It’s also located at a great location right on Broadway and they have a really nice interior and outdoor seating area… many great memories at this place!

2022-06-08For over 50 years my family has been coming to Saratoga Springs. Today was my first experience dining at Cantina for lunch upon the recommendation of my wife. My server was lovely and was focused on me and my wifes needs. Sorry, I dont recall her name.We ordered their wings, Birria Tacos, salad, fried brussel sprouts, and fried ice-cream. The food was delivered timely and was hot. The wings were excellently fried with a flavorful sweet sauce. The brussel sprouts were outstandingly crisp and taste consistency was spot on, served with a slightly spicy dipping sauce. The tacos, w/au jus, were VERY VERY small with not much flavor (I was expecting regular size). The salad...she took home. The fried ice-cream was ok. The coating was not desirable. It tasted like the coating was in the freezer too long. So the MEAL ONLY was an overall 4 rating; 5 without the tacos and ice-cream and.......................heres the kicker...My wife chose outside seating since there was lots of sunshine and not too hot outside. Unfortunately, after we sat down, new people sat outside WITH THEIR DOGS!!!! One person had 3 medium sized dogs. Another had 1 big dog. And another had 1 medium sized dog. We were ambushed. We were so busy counting the hairs flying through the air landing on our table and in our food that it completely took away from our enjoyment of our meal. One of the dogs kept coming behind me as if he was going to ask for a fork! VERY BAD!I love dogs. I had plenty of them growing up. I just do not feel that it would make sense to have something in place to prevent these things from happening...namely floating hair in my food. It is enough to have to deal with potential human hair or any other miscellaneous particles but pet hair?? Maybe the restaurant should make it clear to its guests that if they would prefer not to be exposed to potential animals...please sit inside at a decent distance away? Maybe the pet should be fully covered? Whatever the solution, it should be all inclusive without subjecting me and my wife to eating dog hairs in our tacos or water served...and it cant be me not coming there or relocating to another table or just getting a discounted meal or reimbursement for the meal. The focus is for all of us to have an experience we all appreciate.Just a thought...

2022-05-08This is the Mexican food for people whove never tasted Mexican food. I ordered the Chimichangas. What I actually got was more of a French egg roll. The beef inside the Chimichanga was soaked in a wine sauce when cooked, it had no spices that youd expect from a Mexican dish. In addition there was nothing inside it other than the charred corn which looked like plain old boiled corn. Then it was covered in this tomato sauce that tasted like a can of crushed tomatos was opened and just dumped on the plate. No seasoning, no sign of cheese anywhere on the dish. Somehow they managed to make it look crispy but still be entirely mush. All I could taste was wine (which I personally hate). There was zero flavor that you would expect from this dish. The waiter did take it off our bill. My wife didnt complain about the enchiladas she ordered but she ate less than half b/c they were also a bland mushy mess. The Open faced street corn quesadilla was also strangely soggy if you picked up a piece it would flop down so it was best to eat with a knife and fork. Meanwhile the outer edges were nearly burnt.Highly recommend you save your money and go elsewhere.

2021-08-30Cantina is one of those classic Mexican restaurant you have to go to over and over again because its always so good! Im that person thats been here over and over again. The margaritas are so yummy and I always get it, the carne asada is to die for and lets not forget the Mexican street corn! Its perfectly charred and the seasoning is just impeccable. This place has always been clean and the staff is nice. The bathrooms are down stairs and theres also a roof top bar thats mostly open on weekends. Its a must try here

2022-02-23Was visiting Saratoga to watch a movie. We had over an hour left before the movie began so we decided to make a quick stop at a restaurant and get something to eat. We chose Cantina because of the taco Tuesdays and happy hour. Taco Tuesday consists of $2 Tacos, $2 Coronitas or $12 Bucket of Coronitas and this starts at 4 PM till close and is dine in only. The tacos were pretty good and also included a taco Klondike. The restaurant was packed and the host was friendly and accommodating by getting our order, food and bill in a timely fashion that got us to the movie in time. Over all the food is 4 stars, service and ambience

2022-07-02The atmosphere of the restaurant was very inviting and the staff was kind. The food was very good and served in large portions. My wife and I got the nacho appetizer and it was perfect to share. It is a little more on the expensive side with the lowest entree price of $15 but again, the portions are not skimpy.
