Cantina Taco & Tequila Bar in other cities:
YUCK! My girlfriend and I went out for margaritas and we sat at the bar. We could not miss the fruit flies hovering behind the bar - it was beyond disgusting. As a former bartender, fruit flies feed on overripe fruit and are attracted to the fermenting sugars within alcoholic drinks, including spillages, dregs left in the bottom of glasses and residue in sinks and drains. This happens when the bar is not properly cleaned... which leads me to believe the bar is super grimy and thats where the drinks are coming from.I reluctantly ordered food, considering the amount of fruits flies infesting the bar, I can only imagine the cleanliness of the kitchen. The food was mediocre at best. The food runner legit took the sour cream I wasnt going to use after I put it on the dirty bar and brought it back to the kitchen. Dude... I touched it, removing it from my plate and you took back to the kitchen - recycle reuse. I am sure that sour cream landed on someone elses plate after it was touched and left on the bar.I think the BEST part of my experience was my visit to the ladies room, to discover a toilet without a seat - it was a toilet base and the bathroom had a repulsive odor, like something was decomposing in there.
On Saturday me and a couple of my friends wanted to come in for some drinks and food. One of the owners or the manager with a cap , who ever he is was outside with his bodyguard and when we went up to him to see what the wait time was or to see if any tables were open, he was rude and condescending. He said Im not gonna give you a table for some drinks first of all we didnt say we were just gonna get drinks and youre really acting like the price of 3 rounds of 4 drinks in this establishment isnt equivalent to a whole meal ! We were surprised at his response and asked about the bar and he said You can STAND at the bar not sit I dont know how hes running this business, but clearly he lacks customer service skills and manners. I wasnt asking to be accommodated it was just a question, he couldve politely said they were packed for the night and it wouldve been fine but dont go disrespecting people especially customers who are trying to support your business. Never coming here again!
If I could rate this higher, I definitely would!Cantina is MY favorite taco spot. If you like shrimp, I strongly suggest the Rock Shrimp tacos! Another favorite of mine is the Chorizo taco. Can’t honestly go wrong with either one! Chicken empanadas were piping hot, freshly made. Careful you don’t burn yourself!Don’t forget to order a drink! Mango margaritas are my go-to drinks whenever I come here.Music is loud and lively. Decor is great. Service is impeccable. The staff is attentive. Overall, come for the food/drinks, stay for the vibes! 🙂
Would not re-visit this restaurant. I am giving two stars for the food because the food was not bad but the overall vibe is horrible. The way they treat people standing outside with a bouncer and another rude employee wearing a yankee hat screaming to stand to the side of the building and running all over the place. You are supposed to be greeted at a restaurant not pushed to the side and yelled at, you are choosing to dine with them and spend your money there. On our way out things looked even worse with a man sitting outside in a folding chair infront of the door yelling and screaming with a few other men where we could barely get out. Stop treating the RESTAURANT like the hottest club in Miami
With AFROBEAT being the top genre of music currently, it was disaponting to only experince a night of one sided and repeditive music. ( RAGGAETON ). The drinks were amazing, The food was well presented, and the service was attentive and on point. This is definitely a place I would revisit with the improvement of diversifying there music to accommodate different cultures and people.
Food and drinks were really good. I was greeted in the front by who I assume is the owner, extremely nice and helpful with my reservation. My problem is an incident that happened! I ordered my tacos with no onions (I have a reaction when I eat raw onions) they came covered in onions.(It happens)I told the server that my order was incorrect. He says “Best I can do is go pick them off in the back because we are mad busy” I honestly couldn’t believe he said that to my face. Even if that was your unsanitary plan, why would you tell that to a customer ? After 20-30 mins he comes back and asks me what did I order again because they are mad busy. My friend had finished eating so I said just forget it, if they haven’t started making it I’ll take the check.Soon after I received my two tacos, unassembled. No apology from the waitress or the guy who said he would pick the onions off with his hands.
Trying to understand why I was charged $16 for a margarita in a rocks glass? When everyone else at the bar and tables had their frozen margaritas in a different glass. When i asked the bartender why my drink was served to me in a rocks glass he told me he ran out of the other glasses. So if you aren’t serving customers their drink in the right sized glass find another way to make the customer feel like they are getting their moneys worth. As a long term bartender I’m shockedCantina on 125th would never, guess I need to stick to that location. Disappointed
They have an upstairs area for groups. Ive had a few of their tacos and theyre very good. Their drinks are good as well, with a good number of flavors for margaritas and mojitos. We were happy with our server, who we got to take a couple of shots with us, in addition to taking some pictures of our group.
It was my first time (my husband has gone before) and we went for happy hour. Let me start our by saying, the tacos ... Delish! Had the pork, shrimp and chicken. So so yummy. I wasnt really in the mood to drink so I had a beer but my husband loved their margaritas. We sat at the bar and honestly Sarah made our experience amazing. She made great drinks, handled the masses with poise, and was hysterical to chat with. Thank you for having such an awesome person on staff. Shout out to Sam the other bartender. We didnt get to taste her drinks but she was fun too! We will totally be back.Update: crispy pork belly tacos ... Omg ... One of the best things on the menu!
Came her for my boyfriend’s and my birthday along with 20 of our friends. They seated us in their upstairs dining space which was perfect for our large group. Danny, our server, was very attentive and refilled our margaritas quickly. Food was delicious and brought out all together and correctly! Danny along with the manager, Ricky, were fantastic from start to finish and really made our birthday celebration fun! Thank you both as well as your staff for a great time!
This place had so much potential. Brunch time is what intrigued me to visit this location. $20 unlimited mimosas and $30 Margarita pitcher from 12-4pm. My friends and I wanted to order another pitcher of mimosa only for the waiter to tell us that we already maxed the time? And that he “forgot” to tell us that the limit of the unlimited mimosas is for 1 hour and 30 mins. It was barely 2pm? This rule is not mentioned anywhere online nor the filer. This is false advertisement. Don’t let me get started on the owner. Who refused to serve us when my friend pointed this out and claimed she was too intoxicated when she was not. Our waiter although he failed to inform us the limit time, was great. The owner absolutely ruined the experience and will not be returning. As a customer, the owner should not be allowed anywhere near the customers and his rude judgements/comments. ALV señor.
I really liked the service. We were approached by four different workers asking if we wanted extra water or if we needed anything which I thought was great. It was raining when we reached and we were offered to stay inside so we wouldnt get wet. Good food and drinks are great as well. Highly recommend.
I went to the one in Manhattan on the rooftop but my first time visiting here was GREAT! The bartender was AMAZING, the food was really good but my birria tacos had a lot of fat which is the reason for my score & the drinks were on point. Im definitely going back & will spread the good word!
I just came from this Cantina on white plains this Tuesday. Had a horrible experience the manager in the front was extremely RUDE told me & my friend that we wasn’t allow to sit because of proof vaccine & on top of that my friend told him we just called, & asked about happy hour specials & vaccine was told it was okay to come in!, he then said that it was a mistake because you need vaccine & was told Cantina does not have happy hour specials on Tuesday at 3pm! it was an unreal experience, because the people before us (who we knew)was not asked for vaccine proof, so did it have to do withRacial profiling!? We was just there the other day no mask, no vaccine, but I am vaccinated my friend was not. I use to come here often because my sister went to Pace university, so I’m very upset that we was treated with such an unpleasant experience this time around. I will no longer recommend this location to anyone. How a manager talks & approaches a situation with a guest says a ton about the whole establishment.
Wow the food here is TRULY terrible I ordered the blackened pastor and received a dry, chewy taco with a soggy tortilla and my fiancé got guava and chips and their guacamole had no flavor. 🤔 I’m a little confused as to how they have so many good reviews... maybe I’m just used to the tacos in Brooklyn.I will say my bottled beer was good and carbonated so good job Corona.
There is definitely a nice vibe here. Good music and the crowd was pleasant. The tacos taste good. The best by far are the shrimp and el pastor tacos. The drinks are very sweet. Sweet enough to put you in a diabetic coma. I disliked the churros. It wasnt cooked thoroughly. There was raw dough inside.
Cantina is a great place to hang out, eat some great food, and grab some drinks with friends. The staff are all friendly and bring amazing customer service to Cantina. I highly recommend coming here and bringing your friends along for the ride! It’s definitely worth it. ❤️
Really good time! Covid really messed with their business so theyre hyper vigilant with following rules which I understand. It just feels like youre being rushed so they can get as much traffic as they can manage. Mexican street corn is great, tacos and tapas menu pretty tasty. I had a very crisp passion fruit shot that was then made into a cocktail drink for me, really nice taste. Took the party to the back yard where service was continued. Overall great night with coworkers.
I Was there to have a birthday drink and was feeling really good because the music was vibing so I stood up to wiggle a little bit and the owner said to sit down.He must’ve realized how rude that was and came over to offer a round of shots. If you don’t want people to dance you shouldn’t play music that people will catch people ear. Not a good first experience.
Good food, Great Drinks and the atmosphere was awesome. The manager was very nice and made it a point to speak to people and check on them. The Bartender Stephanie was very social and knew her stuff. The staff in general were great! This will be a regular spot for me and my girls!!!!
I recently came to this gem of a restaurant after work and was immediately blown away by the warm and friendly atmosphere. Sam our waitress was super knowledgeable with the menu and made us feel like we were friends of hers. John the manager was equally as welcoming and enthusiastic about the food. The food was outstanding and I think we just found out new date night spot.
The table was kind of sticky. I had to get up and go to the bar just to get one of those placement cards with the qr code, they didnt have it at the table. Drinks were delicious but the waitstaff are barely available. I asked for nachos and the cheese wasnt even melted,i asked just some random worker to take it back because the waitress was nowhere to be seen and he was not understanding that I literally just wanted it heated up so the cheese can be melted. It took then 20 minutes to bring it back out the cheese was melted but it looked like it was just left and forgotten because it was already cooling down. I wanted chicken on my nachos and all of the chicken was in the same place not even cut up. I still ate some of the nachos but didnt really enjoy since the cheese was just hard and not gooey and I ended up picking out the chicken pieces just to randomly eat. Also the tacos automatically are given with corn tortillas,it doesnt say on the menu what tortillas are used and I just assumed flour was used since it was a soft taco. The taco wasnt bad but the pork just tasted like it was fried and barely seasoned.
After the whole Covid-19 I decide to go out for some food and drinks for the first time. I had such a good time here. The food was delicious but The Drinks OMG The best!!!! the rum punch is the best hands down. The manager was amazing and the waiter and helpers were great. Thank you for making me feel safe while enjoying my time in your restaurant.
Had an overall amazing experience here. Came during a busy Friday dinner service. Had to wait ~10 minutes for a table, but didnt call ahead so that was expected. The bartender got us a pitcher of Margarita fast and it was so good the entire thing was gone before we sat. The manager, Sean, is more than accommodating. If youre looking for a casual bite or a full meal this is it. Hands down the best Mexican in White Plains. Ill be back for sure!
Great service! Upon entering, we were immediately escorted to our seats. No wait... Good look for a Friday evening. We ordered nachos-fish, shrimp, chicken, steak quesadilla and machos/ guacamole. Everything was great! One of the owners graciously stopped by every table to greet the guest and offer them a shot. This place has a nice chill vibe while bumping hip hop hits from the 90s. I will make it my business to visit again.
OVERRATED!Managers ABSOLUTELY RUDE and on the biggest power trip of his life. They pick and chose who they allow in, based on “who you know” or “how you look”. They cater to the “nba players” that once played with Former NBA Player, and not at all to any locals! The food takes very long to come out and 75% of the time it’s cold and unseasoned! The servers are unattentive and you have to call on them several times. They need new management, new servers. The only good thing is their bartenders that makeGreat drinks!
Honestly the best restaurant in White Plains! The vibe is always fun! I love the atmosphere and I love, love the food! All of their tacos are delicious! I love their happy hour menu and have a good amount of options! They are very accommodating and understanding. If you ever need anything they take care of it right away! One time I went there during happy hour and they came around with FREE shots for the whole place! One thing I really recommend trying is the empanadas!!!!
I will never come here again. The food and drinks are great, but an employee with a nasty attitude ruined it for me. Hes very rude and has been on numerous occasions. No the only one with a negative experience with him either. Hes there in the evening usually, so I figured I could avoid him if I went in the day but it just isnt worth it. Lovely place, though.
Horrible management, when I want to the Cantina Taco & Tequila Bar in white plains on 8/1/2021 at approximately 9:00pm the alleged owner of the establishment attempted to start a physical altercation with me. As I was walking into the establishment the alleged owner, who was not waring any company paraphernalia. I.e name badge or uniform. Was having a conversation with a group of gentlemen at the door of the business. When I said excuse me three time, to which there was no response. I attempted to walk around them, to which the alleged owner got in my face in an aggressive and belligerent manner. Stating “that I did not say excuse me” to which I stated that I did three times. This, then resulted in the alleged owner to be come even more hostile toward me, to which I informed him that was harassment and assault. Since I became fearful of bodily harm. Since, the alleged owner was in street attire (dress shirt and a yankers hat), which he denied stating that “he did not treat me” to which I replied that he got in my face. Thus, being perceived as a normal patron who was attempting to start a physical altercation of a perceived offensive. At which point the alleged owner informed me of the fact that he was the alleged owner. To which I stated, “have a nice day”. Since the situation was not worth an altercation. At which point the alleged owner continued to instigate the altercation by repeatedly berating me on how I allegedly did not say excuse me. To which I firmly stated again that I did in fact say that three times. At which point the alleged owner changed his story stating, “that was not what I said but how I said it”. Which personally I thought was ridiculous coming from an alleged business owner who felt it was expectable to threaten someone. However, I never said that since it would have escalated that situation. Thus, I simply stated “I apologized for the inconvenience, informed the alleged owner to have a nice day, and walked away. Since as previously stated, it was not worth a physical altercation.
The good- LOVE the bartender who always serves us. Food is great. Nice staff. The bad- women’s room has two stalls. One of which for over a month has no TOILET SEAT. Male management - that doesn’t work for the ladies. Home Depot. $30. 15 minutes max to install. Don’t think that’s asking too much...and management is aware of the issue yet doesn’t resolve.
OWNER IS SO RUDE!!! told him that my party was already seated and asked if i could go in and meet them... he held his hand up at me and asked me to wait outside. when he returned he told me i was being rude but he would let me in anyways...thanks but no thanks. HORRIBLE attitude for a business owner!!! calling your customers rude for trying to enter your establishment because the rest of their reservation was already inside? on a day that the temp is 23 degrees?
Very friendly staff and great food. When entering was a bit confusing at the door since there was a line for pickup orders (everyone keeping distance for COVID19) so was a bit hard to understand who to talk to for a place to sit. Was quickly approached by a staff member and seated.Food and drinks were great.
Fantastic restaurant with friendly service and quality food. Id say that these are the best tacos Ive had on the east coast so far! Its not the biggest variety in the menu, but what they do they do great! Its worth checking out at least once. Try some tacos, grab a mojito and just enjoy the lovely atmosphere. Id recommend a taco, but really all of them are worth trying once to see what you prefer!
**NOT A TEQUILA BAR** They have pre-mixed margs, they dont use salt either. I ordered a spicy margarita and watched as they used green hot sauce mixed with the already pre-mixed margarita (not shaken whatsoever). All of our drinks were trash and the bartender clearly could see we were not happy but hid instead of saying anything. Needless to say for a pre-mixed marg you might want to look at the prices first (about $10 each). Honestly so many better margs in town - Mariachi Loco for ex. This place is meant for college kids who dont mind drinking sugar water out of a pitcher.
Food was good ; drinks were awesome...but the way my friends were treated was uncalled for...the owner or manager who ever he was , was so rude and distasteful some of us were running late and they refused to let the people that showed up on time sit unless we were all there and he demanded they called the other people or else the table would be given up...that’s just not how you speak to a paying customer...
Very nice vibe. Great happy hour specials from 4-7pm. The mango margarita was good especially since they use the machine to pre-blend it. Dont have to worry about the bartenders not knowing how to make a drink. I had the check and spinach/cheese empanada and the chicken and shrimp taco. Everything was good. Bartender was cool didnt rushbh us. Id go back.
Just started going and now I can’t stop. I’m a steak quesadilla kind of girl with guacamole !!! Best guac I’ve ever had. I thought it was good and would be like a hit or miss but nope it’s consistent every time!! Absolutely great service. Food comes out in a reasonable amount of time!!! Good eats.
My friends and I had the opportunity to dine at Cantina last month after a long work day, and during happy hour. We had heard great reviews about this location, and wanted to compare it to similar eateries in the area. Overall, I enjoyed my experience. They have a reasonable happy hour selection, and there are enough options to choose from without having to also pick from the main menu. We ordered the usuals salsa, guacamole and chips, and tacos (which I constantly crave, so this was the make or break for me). With that said, I enjoyed their tacos. I had the chicken, chorizo, and shrimp. The chorizo was the best of the three, followed by the shrimp. The chicken was a little bit of a disappointment, because it was dry. My friends agreed. The drinks were delicious, although I primarily stuck with rum (I believe it was Rum Punch, or something similar), followed by a Coronarita. 😁.The staff was friendly and accommodating. Parking is metered. There are several lots nearby, and street metered parking is until 6pm (but dont quote me). The atmosphere was nice, and matched the cuisine. Just note they do get crowded towards the weekend, so the wait maybe a little longer. Its really not clear if they take reservations, so I would call to confirm.Would I go back? YesWould I recommend? I say give it a try.
Empanadas are the only reason I didn’t give it 1 star. Drinks to sugary and not good, what a waste. Do not get the math, straight triple sec and sugar. The people next to us also returned theirs. The tacos were small, flavorful but had bones in them. The employees were unorganized and unable to run the food and bring it to the correct spots at the table.Disappointment for sure.
Quite frankly some of the nicest staff Ive ever experienced at a restaurant. From the host, to the bartender, to the waiter, to the owner who stopped by the table, every single person here wanted to make sure we were all taken care of, and on a busy Saturday night! Oh, and the food and drinks were delicious too. I would go back here in a heartbeat.
We had a good time at Cantina. Environment and ambiance was great. Drinks are above average. The food was edible but not impressive. Salsa for the chips had an unusual flavor. The sweet fried plantains with cheese have no place at a Mexican restaurant. Flavorless rice and beens were difficult to eat, specially with the burned steak fajitas. Posive note: Service is excellent. Staff and owners are attentive to customers and make them feel welcome. Would probably be coming back.
OMG, Main street in White Plains, the outside and inside look nice but good lord it totally catered for the blanquito crowd who would eat a mojon envuelto en huevo and will say is the greatest think on hearth. Please if you are are going sell tacos learn make them for real not a VERY SORRY vertion of them...but if you want to get drunk a lo pendejo and go home with someone yup this is the place.
Owners are very accommodating! They check on you as well as staff and one owner gave me a free taco, which btw was delicious!!. Margaritas are off the chain. You would think the frozen one would be weak NOPE not at Cantinas! And bartenders are very socialable. Love it here. Highly recommended!!
First time here with close friend was looking for a great hang out and just drink a beer and stayed longer and had a great time very attentive with drinks and food music was great and very friendly every kind of person was here its what a place should feel like envieoment very comfortable most definitely coming again

2021-10-12This is a great spot to come after a long week of work! The owners specifically Sean is super nice and respectful, the staff is great as well. Drinks are great, delicious and definitely give you a kick. The bathrooms are clean which is a big plus. I recommend the Don Julio hibiscus drink, its the best! Will definitely be returning for happy hour after a long week of work, to relax, have some drinks, enjoy good music & good vibes.

2022-04-23Came here for lunch today with my mom and son. They were slammed, virtually every seat in the house was taken, plus they were short of staff. John, the manager came and took care of us personally; had us seated, took our orders, made our drinks, checked on us, He had such a kind soul, so amenable to us! The food was very delicious and affordable! Drinks are nice and strong, flavorful well worth it. We will Def be back!

2021-10-26Good flavor. The Birria tacos were on gourmet tortillas...but were bursting with flavor. The steak taco was awesome but the crispy pork belly was a little lacking in flavor IMO. Overall, good taco spot in white plains NY
