We are from London, UK 🇬🇧 and stayed here on 10th Feb-12th Feb, the building itself and rooms were very nice and modern and staff were average, however the poor aspect was the lack of facilities and ridiculous charges which would be natural for a hotel.Examples include:- “$100 deposit by card to “guarantee” the room or risk it being sold onto someone else”- $10 PER BAG to store luggage ONLY for 3 hours and $30 PER BAG for longer.- $40 ridiculous charge to check in earlyOverall, for the experience and the charges, this hotel is terrible, it will price itself as low and affordable however additional charges will definitely put you out of pocket.Personally, me and my partner would not stay here again. This hotel unfortunately incurs very sneaky, high prices and the service is absolutely appalling.I would NOT recommend this to anyone travelling within New York Area. 😔😞It is a shame really for such a modern room and modern building, to be deprived of greatness by poor management and hospitality.
Loved this hotel! I really really can’t imagine anyone giving a negative review.Just 15 minutes to Manhattan using the subway (Queensboro Av.)There was a really nice staff team that helped us with everything we asked for and switched us to a different room without any trouble when we noticed that our bathrooms faucet was leaking water on to the floor. The rooms were nice for the price. Nothing too fancy but clean, functional and big enough for the both of us.Only downside: The neighborhood is a bit rough, but even at night there’s not really anything to worry about as long as you stay on the right side of the road. My girlfriend and I never hadI would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends! Also; a fun thing that you can do nearby is walking to Roosevelt Island and taking the Red Tram Cablecar to Manhattan, it sets you back 2,75$ (Metrocard only) and let’s you experience one of the best views of the city for 1/20th of the price of an observation deck! (It looks the best at night!)
I stayed back in April and it exceeded all my son and Is expectations! We traveled to Manhattan for 2 nights over the weekend to travel to MSG and it was very comfortable. The staff went above and beyond for us and helped us with transportations both nights. Will be staying again in July!
Those hotels have been build recently, i would say 8,9 month ago, however, it has been build rapidly to accommodate the life of plenty of tourism, but, unfortunately, this hotel and some of them, build by the same group, is unsustainable, everything is collapsing gently. link water, peeling wall, weed smell, and more, this hotel and many others in the same architecture design will fall in the hands of government, meaning future homeless charters, because, they cannot afford to maintain it.
My daughter booked this hotel through Expedia for 14 days for 1400+ dollars. Five days into stay she need to cut 4 days off reservation. Expedia called hotel and the said they would return 3 nights stay. When she left they did not provide check out recept for unknown reason and they never refunded any money including 100 deposit. We tried to contact manager Micheal Batista, who was never on site and by email. He responded with “I will get back to you.” But he did not, even after repeated attempts. The front desk person at first said money was returned. Then she said it was waiting approval before release. Then she basically hung up on Expedia who tried to intervene. My daughter reports room was small, freezing, blanket not down, and she had to ask for clean towels after days of none. Thanks for response . How about the refund and return of disposit? No smoking or pet urination or damage to room as you reported for reason for keeping other deposits
The hotel itself is new and clean. The room is roomy enough, clean. Bathroom is fine. Affordable price (for NYC). Trying to catch some sleep here ... is another story. Thin walls. Metal doors slammed all night. Industrial right in front - starting at 6 am. Walking alone afterdark inadvisable. OK place in a bind ... for 1-2 days.
So dissatisfied after a very nice prior stay. The room and bedding reeked of cigarette smoke. I asked to change rooms, was told the hotel was sold out, but saw available rooms to book online. All of the other guests were given their deposits back without hesitation, but I was singled out for a room inspection. I dont care that the neighborhood was like a 70s New York crime film. I fo care that I was treated poorly by the young man who knowingly stuck me in that awful room.
The worst experience of my stay in the US.I dont even want to give it one star, but this star I will give to the receptionist who was so nice.I stayed there for three weeks, but I would definitely not recommend it for a long stay. All the housekeeper did was change the towels. All these pictures were taken just after the housekeeping was finished. Putting the letter down doesnt change anything.I left a tip for the housekeeper on the first day, but it was still like this.Whenever I emailed my manager, his responses were always slow and unresponsive. Finally, he ignores my emails.Completely unworthy of the price. Is this really a hotel?
The price is great. The rooms are very large for a NYC hotel. The beds were very comfortable. I couldnt hear the other rooms once I closed the door. The staff was very helpful. Kazi was fantastic! My flight got delayed by three hours so I was kinda stuck after I checked out. Kazi allowed me to leave my suitcase in their office while I walked around neighborhood before my flight.
So this hotel is a great value that goes under the radar. It is clean and modern, and with Kazi behind the front desk, she sets the bar extremely high for customer service - in fact, she destroys the bar. What a joy she is !! The hotel room is sizeable for New York City. It is about a 7 minute walk to the E/F subway station. Good shower, big TV. Refrig in room. Comfortable bed. I hope that Kazi is behind the desk during your next stay !
Friendly front staff, great location near Manhattan and Brooklyn, and the most comfortable bed Ive ever slept on. Its a new hotel so there were a few missing things, like coat racks, bigger towel racks, and a mirror outside the bathroom but these did not ruin our experience.
New built building, so it feels clean. However, the service was poor. They wanted me to pay extra fees for luggage storage (per hour) and early check-in. No water neither coffee were provided. Also, The house keeping wasnt very great, I found hairs on the clean towels.
Very nois hotel. We couldnt leave our luggage after check out when our flight was at 11PM. When we checked out the person in charge stopped being friendly and became very unpleasant and didnt even look us in the face when we spoke, she was looking at her phone, very rude.
Great 2-day stay in October when my AirBnB let me down. Great bed, clean, quiet, fantastic staff (esp. Kazi!) and updated decor. Nice view from 7th floor. Only 4 stars due to location in semi-industrial area and lack of a comfortable lobby, but would definitely stay there again and recommend it.
We loved this hotel. The room was just right for us with the queen size bed. Everything was clean and fresh. The front office staff was courteous, friendly and efficient. Special thanks to Harry and Ms Kazi for being so welcoming and friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.
A great deal on the price, location and awesome front desk staff !!!I had a little family vacation and we had a blast here. Its soo close to F train and we went everywhere like the twin tower memorial, 42nd street which is a walking distance to my little sister favorite location: Broadway! she was super happy to be there. The front desk staff was very friendly gave us amazing advices on sites to see and help us save money in the process. the secrets of the in and out to living/visiting in NYC for cheap. We had soo much fun i cant wait to come back and Im definitely staying at this hotel again.
They give false information of free cancellation and ask the customer to add their credit card and then refuses to cancel for free and behaves rudely. The lady on the front desk was extremely rude and the manager doesn’t show up to solve the issues. I called for 3 days straight, sent emails and still didn’t get any help or assistance. The lady at front desk said “I dont have time for you”.Ofcourse you don’t have time for customers like us because you trap us and then extract money from our pockets. What are you losing?Just one word for this Hotel: PATHETIC 🤢🤮
This hotel is the most pathetic hotel ever. We wanted to visit NYC so we booked the hotel 2 weeks before but due to some important engagement we couldn’t make it. They give false information of free cancellation and ask the customer to add their credit card and then refuses to cancel for free and behaves rudely. The lady on the front desk was extremely rude and abusive and the manager was nowhere to be found. I called for 3 days straight, sent emails and still didn’t get any help or assistance. The lady at front desk said that if you are going through this problem then I cannot do anything about it and “I dont have time for you”.Ofcourse you don’t have time for customers like us because you trap us and then extract money from our pockets. What are you losing?Just one word for this Hotel: PATHETIC 🤢🤮
The room was cute and very updated and clean but they charged me twice for a deposit where On booking.com says they won’t even charge a deposit or anything of that matter until I arrive. Now my card I use to travel has been over drafted twice. Emailed manager and left multiple messages
I stayed at the capital hotel in Lic ny. The hotel location was the best! With easy access to all tourist sites I needed to go to… the front desk staff was amazing and friendly. Especially Naheed & Nabil they r soo funny, sweet and very informative. Can’t wait to come back again.
They are scammers. They charge you for nothing and then disappear. The front desk people are rude and disrespectful and you won’t find the manager anywhere to help or assist you. They hang up on your face if you try to negotiate and never reply to your emails.Save your money, time and respect and don’t ever go to this trashy place 🤮
Great clean place, staying a week, no coffee, or amenities, and surroundings a little rough, but the Queens people are nice enough, walking down to the corner there little delis with food, got a20 dollar coffee pot in the room from target, all in all in Id stay there again
Great location, a 5-minute walk from a stop on the F subway line, which crosses Manhattan vertically; but otherwise it is absolutely not worth staying there. No cleaning, very dirty bathroom, and probably the floor of the room has never even been vacuumed; tiny room, barely moving, very thin walls and perennial smell of grass in the room. The absurdity was being asked upon arrival if we wanted them to make the room and change the towels every day, which was not always done anyway. It is definitely to be avoided!
Good quality/price in an area close to Manhattan (about 20 minutes by subway to downtown). The rooms arent great, but the bed and TV are pretty good. Very nice workers. And although it does not have a cafeteria, there is an area with microwaves and vending machines that can get you out of more than one hurry. The only bad thing is that when you enter the elevators you get a strange smell, probably due to what they use to scrub. But nothing serious, in general this hotel is a good place to spend the night if you are going to spend a few days on vacation in NYC
Very cheapAs soon as you enter, the room is small and the smell is not good. When I asked where to park the car at the hotel, they said you could do it on the street and parked it.I checked in at night and didnt see it, but a fire hydrant in front.omg..Sad to get the ticket😭No soundproofing. No coffee pot. There is a $1.25 vending machine in the basement for water. fear of the surroundings.Even though its cheap, it looks like a dangerous neighborhood, so I was a little scared people keep fighting..The black woman at the counter is very kind and sweet 🥰A hotel with no good memories other than that..😂😂
They are scammers and crooks, they charge you $100 as a security deposit and they never return it even if you claim it. For that reason alone it is better not even look at the hotel, if they smoke in the rooms next door, the smoke filters to your room and it sucks. The towel cleaning service is not good, we received clean towels full of foreign hair.
Vacationing in New York in April, we stayed 9 nightsThe hotel is very well located, metro F 3 minutes walkThe hotel staff was very friendly, contrary to other reviews we benefited from the luggage storage service on the last day, free of chargeOur room was big, the bed tooA kettle would be a plus in the roomThe cleaning was done every day, only small defect, hair in the sheets but it did not disturb our stayIt is excellent value for money, I recommend this hotel
The hotel is good value for money, it is very close to a metro station, the staff is very attentive. There is a vending machine in the basement but it only receives 1 and 5 USD bills, there is a microwave in the restaurant. What I like the least is that the street on which it is located is very dark at night. I think there is no problem if one does not carry anything of value.

2021-12-29Best hotel Ive stayed at in NYC! Exceeded all of my expectations! Staff is super friendly, room was amazing, and the price is great. Location is also super convenient with easy access to Manhattan. I chose to drive there any parking was not hard to find. Cant beat this place, 10/10 will be returning soon!

2021-12-23This was the most affordable place to stay in NYC. We were happy to stay in Queens, and the location is actually good too – very close to the subway, which does take you into Manhattan, and its also a 10-minute walk from some really great restaurants as well as a 20-minute walk to Astoria. The room was so much better than we expected: we had read some reviews saying there were cleanliness issues, but we didnt encounter any while there. The concierge was always so friendly, helpful, and professional, and overall you cant beat the price for what you get here – a no-frills, conveniently located, fuss-free stay.

2022-06-27Very good hotel. The building is new. It is located at a street with some hotels, but the neighborhood is kind of hard. However - felt safe pretty much of my stay there, including going back to the room at late nights. 7-10 minutes away from Subway station. The room that I had was very nice, looked new, had some nice amenities and facilities. Also clean - not in the highest standards, but pretty decent. However, the room does not have microwave or coffee maker, a thing made me go to the nearest Dunkin every morning to buy myself some coffee. They have vending machines (cash only) and microwaves at the basement floor, as the services they offer. Staff was very nice and helpful. They also have luggage storage for no charge if you come before check-in, and check-out while you have late night flight.

2022-05-15My main issue was cleanliness - my shower was dirty, and there was gum or some type of dirt pressed into the floor. The room also had a weird smell. Other issues are minor things - you’re given a room service card that doesn’t work, there’s no breakfast, and no water other than what you can get from a vending machine or the sinks/showers. Upon my arrival the hotel had somehow lost my reservation and there was an issue checking in. However, the staff are really friendly, the location is nice, and the hotel safe. I would stay here again but it wouldn’t be my top choice.

2021-12-05Overall not a bad hotel considering the price and location in an industrial area but just a short ride with the nearby subway to Manhattan. The rooms are large and clean, beds are very comfortable. Some minor things are missing though like a coat hook, a place to put your towels and some more power outlets near the bed. The biggest downside of the hotel however are the very thin walls so you can hear everything and everyone in the rooms around you. The staff at the front desk were all very helpful and friendly.

2022-06-17DO NOT STAY HERE!I cant stress enough that you stay out of this hotel. They decide to hold a fee as security deposit which they never refund, they directly lie about it being in process when it was clearly not, its been months and theyre ghosting us.The hotel itself is just put together to squeeze out cash without giving anything back, they stress that smoking is not allowed but on every night the room REEKED from weed from nearby rooms. With the security deposit they never returned we wouldve been able to afford a much nicer hotel in a nicer neighborhood, this place is NOT WORTH AT ALL the supposed money saved.

2022-04-03We stayed in the hotel 6 nights and since the first morning the door of the room stopped working, always needing someone from the lobby to come and open the door for us, which left us with zero independence to move as we wanted (which is basically the minimum service offered by the hotel) and having to wait up to 1 hour and a half at the reception (in the midnight) until someone could open the door for us. This is not acceptable. We were offered to change rooms but there were never any available/ready to go in, so every morning and evening we ended up asking for room 402 to be opened for us as wasting 4/5 hours of our vacation day was not an option. Every morning the first thing we did was to go to reception to see if there was a room available or if someone would come to fix it and even being in the hotel until 12pm-1pm we could not get a room ready to move in, so we were promised (since we had to leave) that the door would be fixed for the night (so every day!!!!!). Add to this, that on Friday night, at 4am, the door was not opened with any key! Leaving us outside the room without any of our belongings, unable to wash up before bed or even put on other clothes! If we had to catch a flight the next morning we would have missed the plane!! This was enough on the part of the hotel without giving us any solution. That night it turned out that there was a room available (but not before?!) and the next morning the technician did not arrive until 1pm (supposedly, the first day the door did not work they told us that the technician had come but on Saturday they told us that he had not come before and thats why it had not worked - 3 days without working the door and they had not called a technician? ) making us waste time waiting for him and in the end we had to go out WITH THE SAME CLOTHING FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE.On Sunday 03/27 we communicated to the reception that on Monday we wanted to talk to the manager to give us a solution and on Monday at the reception they told us that the manager does not respond and have no idea when he will come with textual words, making us again lose the whole morning to try to find a solution and by the manager to know that some guests have 1 week without being able to freely access the room and that on Monday that we requested to come, does not appear is a lack of respect. We are now trying to contact the hotel by mail and no one is answering or responding.I have no words for the extremely irresponsible and incapable response of the hotel management.

2021-12-20I don’t understand the brutal reviews that this place receives. I went into New York for a nice little Pre-Christmas weekend, and everything here was completely fine. The room was orderly and clean when we entered, and housekeeping supplied us with everything we needed for our stay. The location, while there isn’t much around, has no problems with it at all. It’s also super easy to call a cab using the Curb App and have them pick you up at this hotel, as well as drop you off, as the street it is located on isn’t too busy.I’d definitely recommend staying here, it’s certainly a hidden gem for sure, and thanks again to the capital hotel for giving us a great stay!

2022-02-17The young lady we encountered at the front desk was very unprofessional and rude from the time we walked in. I don’t want to be “that person” to say something’s racially motivated but she definitely had a problem with me and my friend. She didn’t even acknowledge us when we first walked in we had to say something to her for her to stop eating and get off her phone to check us in. Then she tried to play us and tell us we had no room there. We booked for a day extra because we were coming from out of time and to avoid sitting around for hours waiting to check in we could just get there and check in and we specified this when we messaged them and they said it was okay. We got there and she told us our room was posted as a “no call no show” so I asked why we didn’t get a email saying so she said because “they didn’t have to.” Then proceeded to tell us that they then put our room back online as available and they were completely booked and had no rooms for us i again asked why we weren’t told our room was canceled and she told us it wasn’t canceled even tho our room was posted as available online. She was yelling and screaming at us and blaming us for everything that happened until we literally had to call the personal we originally talked to and prove her wrong. She was laughing at the situation as she was being rude to us AND was on the phone with her friend the entire time. There was no management there as well so we had nobody to help resolve the issue but ourselves. But when people of other races walked in she was super polite to them and quick to help them as they walked in. We were extremely disrespected the entire time. Also the showers had NO hot water at all I had to stand at the sink and use the hot water. Really disappointed about the entire incident and stay. I do not recommend in anyway.

2022-05-19Very quiet and comfortable stay! It is away from all the New York noise that I was tired of when staying in Manhattan. Staff was very family friendly. I was suggested this place by a friend who stayed when they recently had opened and was happy with the stay.
